If it works don't fix it, and Forza Motorsport proves that very same philosophy can be one to follow. It may not be a turning point within the Forza franchise, but it is a damn good game that improves enough over its predecessor to certainly consider it a better game. The gameplay is impeccable and it is incredibly accessible even for those who do not play with a racing wheel, plus it most likely is the best game in Xbox from a visual standpoint. All in all, Forza Motorsport definitely becomes a must-have within Xbox's catalog.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound achieves something extraordinarily difficult: completely honoring a classic legacy while creating something that feels completely contemporary. The Game Kitchen has demonstrated that their experience with Blasphemous translates perfectly to established franchises, creating an experience that satisfies both purists and new fans. This is not simply a good Ninja Gaiden game; it's a statement that classic franchises can evolve without losing their identity. Hogwarts Legacy is the video game I've always dreamt of. I didn't even think something like this could be made out of the Harry Potter franchise. Avalanche has dared to create something completely new, yet at the same time, It has preserved the very essence of the source material. It is one of those entries that puts everything else in a difficult position, first because it is miles ahead of everything that has been done before and second because the video games after will have quite a tough time to match its quality. Kojima-san delivers an open world in which we have to represent a bridge between the narrative of the game and other players in order to keep moving forward as part of a world that needs us. The game introduces characters that keep on evolving until we reach an ending for the ages through a story told like very few would be able to. Death Stranding knows how to toy with our emotions, and it manages to arise anguish, tension, solitude, sorrow, joy and provides a conclusion that completely stuns us. The end is only the beginning.

Salt and Sanctuary is the result of a perfect combination of the metroidvania and “souls” elements in order to create a unique, hard and satisfying 2D adventure that knows how to reward players’ skill. The Nintendo Switch version is indeed a great one.

Mortal Kombat 11 is a major improvement for the franchise in all of its departments. The story mode is both appealing and fun for the player, and the fights are much closer than they used to be. It is, indeed, a delightful experience for the fighting game aficionado.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy takes us on a trip back in time so as to not only dearly remember the original but also convince the player through new visuals and a gameplay with lots of fun. Despite the fact that the game may prove as too easy for some, and there are also several issues with the camera, it is still a great option when considering the cost and general quality of the game. Spyro is definitely back for good.

The addition of way too many systems as well as mechanics have caused all of the good things in Control, which are a lot, to get shadowed by other elements that are either not appropriately resolved or that do not really add to the overall value of the game. It still is a very enjoyable piece due to its gameplay as well as its visual and artistic level, but it inevitably leaves a bittersweet feeling given that it comes from Remedy Entertainment, a studio that I did not expect to leave this many unattended elements in its narrative.

Tarsier Studios introduces Little Nightmares 2 with kind of a continuist approach yet still managing to surprise us. The game is backed by an improved narrative, exquisite gameplay and an excellent design that, altogether, portray an experience whose only flaw is but a battle system that does not merge well with the rest of the elements in play.

With an overwhelming amount of new content, Super Mario Party Jamboree promises to become one of the most ambitious games in the franchise. In addition, it is a title that respectfully modifies the very essence of the saga with the aim of expanding its own limits and offering gameplay experiences never before seen in the series; thus fulfilling what anyone could expect from a Super Mario Party in 2024.

Konami closes off the current generation with the best entry that we have seen so far. eFootball PES 2020 possesses, undoubtetly, the most realistic gameplay ever for a football game. Unfortunately, the game still lacks the same thing as the previous entries: its game modes do not have enough depth.
