Visual masterpiece. This film will not be appreciated in its time but maybe 5 - 10 years from now will be remembered as a classic. As a marvel fan this is a great alternative if you want something different. Superhero movies need variety.

If you are a big fanboy of the Justice League you are not going to like this move but me how is not a Justice League fanboy really enjoyed the movie.

This movie is the slow start on DC:s Justice League movie series, but take it for what it is a GREAT first movie and i hope that they will continue and i hope it will get stronger and stronger.

Well that's all about that.

The movie it self are introducing Superman ,Batman and Wonder Woman together

Ben Affleck are good as Batman, he is doing a great roll as a burden Bruce Wayne, who want to do something to make the world a better place before he die's (and before he gets to old)

Henry Cavill is doing very nice (same as Man of Steel) Superman, as man how is trying to find he's place in this world and trying to find a balance for "Superman" in our world and being accepted by the world.
He is a man with a conscience (really well played by Henry Cavill giving Superman this) how is trying his best to help the world.

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman gets a little time in this movie but here story is told enough to make her interesting (a little more about her backstory but maybe next movie)
Gal Gadot herself are Good as Wonder Woman, they really got the right person for the roll

Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is BAD really really BAD, he is a mix of Joker and Lex Luther tougher and are pulling down this movie, Please to NOT BRING HIM IN THE NEXT MOVE,
Jesse Eisenberg are doing what he can do with he's roll, he is acting is good but he has a very bad script to work with (as Lex Luthor......lol as --->Lex "Joker" Luthor

Surprising how well Ben did as the batman. I saw it on a really nice IMAX theater setup and it was a great looking movie. Clean and booming sound, good action, and a decent story-line! I enjoyed it! Obviously YMMV.

Stars Wars FA broke records and most critics loved it...for hard core fans...it was a recycled crap and not a whole lot complained.

This movie wasn't all that bad at all...it was laying the groundwork for future movies. What I didn't like:
- the actor playing Lex Luthor....tried too hard to the point of being annoying.
- 15min could have been cut that was spent on rehashing Bruce's parents death...
- the mega monster lacked imagination ...
- Alfred should have been played by someone way older...

Other than that..it was a good movie. Affleck actually did OK as batty.

for those wondering or complaining about it being incoherent....well, those are the types that don't like reading a good book or would rather text than call about breaking up!

Spoiler review part
What i liked:
seeing the events of superman in the eyes of different characters and how it affected them. I thought it was cool to see what it was like from the outside looking in.
Batman's twisted character: as a comic book fan, I liked how dark his character was and how scary he should be to everyone else in his world. The scenes of him in the jail cell and in that random gotham place with the captives showed us how terrifying he is (and is supposed to be)
The action: the action was so good
The effects: the effects were amazing
The soundtrack: the sound track was outstanding
I also really liked how big the heroes seemed to be. You could really feel how powerful each one was and how non human they are when they fight. even the small aquaman scene looked epic. unlike other superhero movies, i liked how gigantic the characters here were.
The villain(/s) was(/were) a genuine threat. The impact of the villain(s) was felt. I feel like in other movies the villain ends up being a pushover and not really doing much, or not threatening as much. In this movie the villain was real and you could feel it.
I initially hated the casting for wonder woman, but I loved the actress in the movie. (also her themes song rocked)
Almost all actors were good except for lex.

What i didnt like:
very segmented and dragged out middle part. Lots of story related scenes that would confuse non comic readers, or people who did not pay close attention.
Batman felt a little **** at times. Batman's costume looked bad
Lex luthor was played horribly, actor was really bad, i didnt feel that he needed to play him as a psychotic person, and even when doing so, it was really cringy. he did not deliver.

------------------------------------
bottom line: I really liked the movie, enjoyed it a lot! There were a few things that made me cringe, but overall i had a good time watching it.

An open letter to Mr. Snyder,

17 years ago, The Phantom Menace proved to Hollywood that you can make money without striving for quality, as long as your movie can be marketed. Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is the pinnacle of that kind of thinking. It reeks of studio misunderstanding of storytelling. Zack Snyder does not understand the source material he is working from. He is the ultimate pop trend follower that doesn't actually understand what they follow. He has convinced the studios that he knows about comic books, when he doesn't understand what makes a superhero. There are no heroes in a Zack Snyder movie. Everyone is to blame. Affleck, Nolan (producing), Adams, Fishburne. Any one of them could see that this was an awful movie. They either don't understand what they do for a living, or they don't care about the quality of the films they work on and don't care for your enjoyment. BvS is what happens when good people don't speak up when atrocities are happening. I just hope that this is the last dying gasp of this type of overblown, bombastic, illiterate, storytelling that has grown from the weeds of studio notes that should of been discarded. But I really know Snyder is to blame because this is his modus operandi. Misunderstanding the source material. At least with Suckerpunch he wasn't ruining anyone else material. Give up the superheroes. You only see them as super, and you never let them be real heroes. I want leaders with ideals worth following. I know it's not 1938 anymore, but that's the point. We need Superman because he stands for what is right. He stands for truth, justice, and the American way. If this is what you think is the American way, then you've lost your way. You don't understand anything about anything. You have squandered your chance to be immortalized for the fast and easy money. You could have made an amazing movie. You could have had the courage to try. But instead, you are content and having your entire career be a long, yellow line, down the middle of the road. Stop trying to look good and start being good. Be bold and brave and make big changes, but you know better than this. You are capable of more than this. Just try more. Just try at all. There was not one good moment in this whole movie. Affleck is not the best Batman by any stretch, he just seems like it because he's the best actor in this movie. That's not a hard task. You may think you are amazing, Mr Snyder, but I think you just can't let go of being right. Be open to being wrong and you can grow. We only learn from mistakes once we admit they are mistakes. 17 years ago The Phantom Menace proved that quality wasn't needed to make a lot of money. But 6 months ago The Force Awakens proved that marketing plus quality makes more money and results in real classics. Please, I implore you, try to really impress people on the next one. Don't just lean back and half-ass it. Get in. Be involved. Open your eyes. Admit your faults. Be great. Research. Learn.

Having agreed to see it with a friend tonight, I have to admit that this was a slight improvement over the chaotic mess that Man of Steel was, but that really isn't saying much unfortunately. The amount of Michael Bay-style destruction and explosions sadly increases in this one and it was even enough to make me feel pretty underwhelmed by the time the film ended. However, I can honestly say that Ben Affleck actually did a pretty decent job as Batman. Henry Cavill was pretty much the same as Superman. Unfortunately, Jesse Eisenberg, was unbelievably miscast as Lex Luthor! This role did not feel right for him at all and I felt that for pretty much his entire presence in the film! Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman appearance was pretty much wasted, since she only appears in the last 10 minutes of the final battle. Overall, the film wasn't without its fun moments and Ben Affleck didn't disappoint, but I gotta say that Zack Snyder really doesn't have a very good grip on this franchise. I completely support all of the petitions out there to get rid of him for all of the future DC films! Expand

Batman is amazing, Superman is okay, Wonder Women is great, but Lex Luthor was a bit too cartoon- ish.
The script was messy at parts, but some moments were great at parts. Ben Affleck brings the best
performance we seen from him, and so does Gal Gadot. It's good to know we get a shared DC Universe, with shared characters. Zack Snyder visuals fell very comic book-ish. The soundtrack was too great.
But the end felt to jumbled and the big bad guy was a dumb destructive monster that was killed in 2 seconds. But the end was risky so it feels necessary for DC is about to start. But man did I have a good time, and I want to witness this type of experience again!

Having seen the film twice now, I think I'm ready to pass my judgement (for what it's worth).

As an avid fan of superheroes movies--and Superman and Batman in particular--but not so much the of comics medium that originally spawned them, I came to BATMAN VS SUPERMAN (BvS) from a different perspective than many of the critics who reviewed the movie poorly. Many of the negative comments I've seen are certainly valid, which is why I've rated the film an 8/10 as I have, but at the same time they do seem to have missed the point of this movie.

BvS has clearly set out to achieve two things:

1. To set up about 10 different story arcs for various future movies
2. To set the tone for all of those movies, where that tone is gritty and as realistic as they could make them

Regarding the first point, that the film sets up many future stories, I think they were supremely ambitious but misguided, and this indeed seems to be the source of most of the criticism--particularly those that I agree with. They have, to my mind, tried to squeeze too much into a single movie, which at times causes the story to become obscured, and there is way too much use of overly stylised content. On a second watching, most things are actually pretty well telegraphed, if you watch closely, so I have come to forgive the things that, on first viewing, appeared to be plot missteps. Nonetheless, I still think they tried to do too much in the one movie, and could have stood to stretch it out into two or even three movies.

Regarding the second point, though, that they have tried to set a gritty and as realistic tone for the DC movies that follow, I think they have done something I have long wanted to see. They have created a real-world view into a universe where people like Superman and Batman exist.

The world of BvS feels real to the mature viewer, which is something no previous interpretation of Superman has achieved, and something that Nolan's Batman series lost with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

But for all that I enjoy this mature new take, it seems that's the issue some people, particularly the self-proclaimed comics aficionados, have with it: it's maturity. The whining I've seen around geekdom about how "Superman doesn't kill!" or "Batman doesn't kill" has always struck me as juvenile thinking, a child clinging to a bygone period of their lives where Evil was always defeated by Good, and there were no shades of grey between.

To a mature viewer, that world is childish, and ultimately makes for dull and pedestrian viewing--as evidence, I submit the 1970s and '80s SUPERMAN movies (if you have you tried watching them recently, I think you'll know what I mean).

There's also this: in the real world, people like Superman and Batman would inevitably kill normal humans with grim regularity _by accident_, not necessarily intent. You can't read the news these days without a story about how someone fell awkwardly in a bar fight, hit his head and died. Add in all the serious hardware Batman has long thrown about, from the humble batarang to his more explosive toys, and the idea that he has not killed is beyond ludicrous. And that's just Batman...Superman, whose body is supposedly harder than steel, turns this equation up to 11--even a relatively soft punch from such a being would be like being hit by a crowbar. Now picture that crowbar hitting you on the head reasonably hard, and you can see why I think Superman has killed.

Yes, I think it's fair to say that, in the real world, someone like Batman or Superman would indeed kill people, and they'd kill often. So I challenge those who disagree to take off their rose-tinted glasses view of Batman's and Superman's world and ask yourself how could they possibly avoid killing people.

I don't believe they could, and I'm very happy to finally see a Superman and Batman interpretation that does not flinch from that.

All of the criticisms are accurate, but all of the issues raised are very minor next to all of the great aspects of the film. The editing is weak, the scenes don't always flow logically from one to another, and I could have used a couple extra scenes setting up Wonder Woman's history (we've all seen Batman's origin a dozen times by now), but the action, story, and acting more than make up for the procedural errors. Noticing that, the logic conduces me to rate this movie as a 5 or a 6 in the best case, but I can't do that. Why? Because Ben Affleck's casting, and his performance was without exaggerating, a complete dream. There's nothing bad you can say about his Batman after watching the movie, he was just 5/5, and he really steals the scenes. This is obviously powered by the initial rejection to Affleck's choice for the paper. Gal Gadot is a convincing WW, even with her short on-screen time, Henry Cavill is on MoS line, good, and Jesse Eisenberg does a 'jokered' Lex that looks like a tribute for me, and I liked it, just as I liked Heath's performance.
In the other side, Doomsday was just ridiculous.
In the overall, the movie is a nice show, but it has several problems. But if you like the bat, that will not matter at all, and you will enjoy just like I did, remembering when you were a child, or a teen, and seeing THE SAME Batman on screen played perfectly and perhaps dropping a tear seeing him.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The script for this movie was awful, the casting seemed wrong and this could be one of the worst superhero movies of all time.
I realize that it is fictional, but the story had too many holes in it. Superman was wanted due to killing 1 terrorist that was holding a gun to their head. Batman wanted to build a weapon to prevent Superman from destroying the world. Batman killed 10-20 people trying to get the weapon, so I guess some lives are expendable. Some of Batman's fight scenes reminded me of a 1970's karate movie and were pathetic.
The movie wasn't all bad, but I recommend waiting for it to come out on DVD.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't judge my liking of the movie by the rating, I loved the visual asepcts of the movie, but not much else. The characters, apart from Batffleck, seemed pretty thin to me, and could someone explain to me what Wonder Woman's agenda was, apart from retrieving a photo. The only thing that could have made the movie get a higher rating from me was to have let Superman stay dead. A Justice League without him would feel incomplete, to say the least, but I think it would have been more interesting. All the character moments seemed to fall flat, but the fight scenes were epic, but I guess that's Zack Snyder for you. The scene where Wonder Woman is looking at surveillance footage of the other League members felt shoehorned into the movie. It could have been a much better movie, but the job it set out to do, it did well. It got me excited to see the other movies in the DCEU, so there's that to be proud of. Expand

To others i can understand why the story is incoherent. I gave this movie a 10 despite its flaws because even though its not perfect, it was personally the most immersive, fun, and thrilling experience to watch two of my favourite heroes finally get together on the big screen. All in all the movie is beautifully made, with some amazing cg shots and epic moments with some grand-scale fight between god like beings. The movie could be even better, but for those who think this movie had great potential just wait for the r rated blu ray cut. It may redeem itself there. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only moment of the film that felt 'human' was when Wonder Woman turns to Louis Lane after a certain thing happens, it was the one moment that was well acted.

The rest of the film felt flat and monotone without a counterpoint, every character was brooding or crazy (even WW), there was no 'logic' to most of the story just excuses to get the two main characters annoyed at each other (which either character could have seen through if they spent 2 seconds thinking about it).

Poor character development (everyone is the same as they started off, by the end they just want to form a team).

Poor understanding of the characters (Batman using guns? the very thing that he never does, Batman doing plenty to killing to replace the killing of man of steel).

Set work was boring, nothing really going on visually other than the main characters.

The 'nightmare' scene makes no sense, why would Batman have a psychic vision?

Overall rather than a rollercoaster of emotions this felt like sitting on a train, just going from one plot point to another, while it looks fun it gets boring quickly.

This movie will end up being a box-office success and Warner Bros. will continue moving forward with the franchise. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice overall was a fun and enjoyable movie. It gives comic-book fans exactly what they've wanted and casual moviegoers the chance to become invested. It isn't without flaw, but contrary to popular belief, the good outweighs the bad. But why are the critical reviews so negative? Ultimately because the tone is untraditional dark, the ratio of story to action was unbalanced, and most importantly, people just don't know what they want when it comes to superhero movies.

The movie begins with a civilian's view of the destructive battle scene between Superman and General Zod in 2013's Man of Steel. The viewer is then taken into Bruce Wayne's point of view watching a local Wayne Enterprise building get demolished, as he tries to save them. Early on, this movie establishes the conflict between the two titular characters, and the tone of the film. The two heroes clash while Superman's character & actions are brought into question. We see a physically and emotionally battle-scarred Batman whose sole motive is protecting everyone from the threat that is a rogue Superman. The two join sides, team up with Wonder Woman, and lay the foundation for DC's Justice League franchise.

If this were a Batman solo movie, the overall reception would be more positive because he's a character that can get away with this darker, more grounded tone that Zack Snyder decided to go with. But Superman is the boy scout of superheroes, which gives viewers a very different version of Superman. The film's dark tone gives the viewers an interesting take on the Boy in Blue. Snyder and co. made a character with unbelievably, god-like abilities more human than viewers have seen since the CW's Smallville. The dark tone however, did work for Ben Affleck's Batman.

His portrayal of the DarkKnight exceeded expectations. Every scene with Batman/Bruce Wayne is one to remember. Affleck's acting, the camera movement and cinematography coupled with Hans Zimmer's score made for a mysterious, and downright scary interpretation of Batman. An idea that could have been fleshed out more was the foiling of Batman and Superman. Snyder attempted to use Batman's savage crime fighting methods and gruesome reputation, as a way to highlight Superman's supposed-to-be wholesomeness, which fell flat. Seeing Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman brought to life was exciting, but a bit of a let down in the movie. She was fun to watch, but her portrayal fell short of expectations because it wasn't as believable as her cast mates. Her role was small, but just enough doses for us to keep interest in what's to come in her own solo movie. Wonder Woman mainly acts as the bridge from Batman to the "metahuman" world, and setting up as one of the founding members of the Justice League.

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was interesting to watch. He brought a very different vibe to the character while still giving viewers the murderous masterminded villain that we know him to be. Like Henry Cavill's Superman, Eisenberg's Luthor is young and inexperienced in what he does. What ultimately drives Lex in this film is what has always driven him, knowledge and power. Those expecting Lex and Superman to be fully developed characters when this is the 2nd movie of a growing franchise are the one's who were let down by Dawn of Justice.

Man of Steel sparked debates that the true Superman wouldn't have fought so carelessly and end up destroying a big city, let alone kill an enemy. This Superman isn't one that fans are familiar with yet, and if Batman v Superman doesn't do anything for you, it should at least give answers as to why that route was taken. To build this hero up into one that Superman fans are conversant with. It poses the question that will linger on within these films; where do we as humans fit in this world filled with aliens and godly beings? The idea of gods amongst men and a very particular scene with Bruce Wayne teases that DC is going in the route of the video-game/comic book series story line, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Holly Hunter plays the front runner of the political subplot in the film as Senator Finch, who also, gives us the hopeful connection to Amanda Waller and the upcoming film Suicide Squad. This also gives the DC universe that grounded feeling they're trying so hard to achieve, which can be challenging when there are characters like Superman, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter that exists in this world. Hunter acts as the voice of reason and concern that most people would have when it comes to idea of a Superman.

A key reason people are let down is because fans and critics alike aren't sure what they wanted from this movie. People are forgetting that this isn't the seasoned Superman we know

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. FAAAR better movie than critics would like you to believe, but first I'm going to list out pro and cons:

Pros:

#Ideological conflict between the all powerful and the all knowing is been displayed.

#Lex Luther is better than many of his comic iterations. Intelligent but a psychotic billionaire who is on the same side of the spectrum of power knowledge as Batman. His transformation from a rich billionaire wanting to keep Earth "safe" from aliens to a totally hysteric villian echoes Alfred's comment about how powerlessness can make one evil. In the end, he becomes a powerless version of Donald Trump.

#Batman. Because goddamn Batman! He is considerably more violent that nearly all of his comic iterations. He is more like a battle hardened marine who has a keen eye for truth and ability to foretell future. His dream sequences are hints to what might be coming next. The much maligned scene where Batman decides to not kill Superman because of common mother's name is predictably misinterpreted. Bruce was seeing superman as an all powerful alien to risky to live, just like a nuclear warhead waiting to blow up. But as soon he realizes that he has a mother, that behind that impenetrable skin lives a human like him what makes him realize his folly.

#CGI is very decent unlike people would like to believe. It perfectly renders the larger than life supernatural powers that are Superman, Wonderwoman and Doomsday, clashing with each other. The Bruce vs Clarke fight is relatively tame and "realistic" but is alright because Superman is attacked with cryptonite gas, twice.

#Finally we get to see Wonder Woman live action and the god that lives behind that armor.

#Sweet sweet justice league cameos by both Flash and Aquaman.

#The DCEU vibe is there as well as the Injustice and Frank Miller undertone.

Cons:

#Bit lengthy but that wouldn't matter if you're instantly hooked at the premise.

#Alfred's father figure role wasn't properly discovered.

#There are too many mysteries than remain unsolved which makes me already want the Director's cut.

WELL DONE ZACK SNYDER. BvS is a fantastic movie by all propositions if you are fan of movies that are dark and toy with ideas. If you are here for Marvel like gags and fun break, you're out of luck. This movie is not for you.

I definitely think the movie is a bit overhated, but it does have a reason to be hated. I could go on and on and on about the issues with this movie, but I'm just going to keep it to three:

1. USELESS: I understand that some movies can be appreciated as art, or something to be appreciated. Those are the type of movies you remember, and have FEELINGS about, like Shawshank Redemption. Then there's fun popcorn movies that are a good, fun thrill ride like The Avengers. There are some movies that can be treated as both, like the original and latest Star Wars, or Raiders of the Lost Ark. This movie is neither. You can't appreciate it, because there is no different feelings you get from this movie in comparison to others (other than confusion). It's only fun at times, but not the substantial level that superhero movies need to provide today.

2. OVERSTUFFED PLOT TURKEY: There was so much stuff going on that I got headaches just to catch every characters emotions, motives, and, well, character within the movie, because the movie was trying way too hard to make another shot every 5 seconds just to build up 10 different characters in 5 minutes. Doing that only makes the viewer angry and hot emotionally attached to any of the characters at all.

3. LEX LUTHOR: The obvious issue was casting, but Lex felt so small as a villain in this movie that the only villain was the overcomplicated plot. Doomsday was a bust, so I figured that Lex could just do some Magneto-type control and grasp the final battle in a respectful fashion, but instead decides to not have another scene in the battle after he almost gets killed by Doomsday by a punch (which Superman had no reason to save Lex from, that scene was one of the worst in the movie).

The beginning and ending was enough to redeem the movie from being "bad" though, even though it chokes hard for two hours.

SO DISAPPOINTED.

Zack Snyder definitely did his homework and provides a strong plot without gimmicks, holes, or ridiculous improbability. The tie in to the battle with Zod from Superman Returns was seamless, and Batman's reaction was explained well and believable. I actually felt like I was agreeing with both sides of the Batman v Superman conflict, which is a huge testament to the masterful writing. Luthor's plot is witty and compliments the other plotlines. Doomsday's origin may upset the fanboys, but is perfect for this adaptation. The action sequences were exciting and satisfying but without excess, and maintained believability without targeting only the "wow factor". Cgi looks great and not comical.

Snyder avoids the pitfall of selling the actors, not the story. I was doubtful going in, but Affleck is a great Batman, keeping his performance dark and understated - true to character and without any of the "look at me" or smirkiness that ruined Clooney and Kilmer's past attempts. Cavill is a dynamite Superman (again), who certainly exudes the farm boy absolute goodness and inner conflict of the role without making the audience choke on it, while also physically matching the role better than Reeves ever did. Eisenberg personifies the brilliance, ego, and hidden boldness of Luthor without tainting the role with the comedy and insecurity for which he's known. I sincerely hope these actors continue these roles!

The one place where the movie misses the mark, however, is the female casting. Amy Adams still doesn't sell as Superman's love interest (too plain, maybe?), but I appreciate the continuity from the first movie. Gal Gadot definitely has the face for Wonder Woman, but not the body of an amazon goddess. With Cavill and Affleck adding serious muscle to look the part, it is impossible to not notice the contrast of how skinny Wonder Woman is, which makes her fight scenes less believable. Finally, just like in Superman Returns, Major Carrie Farris, USAF, is an annoying and unnecessary character indulgence that falls flat on its face. (Is she Snyder's girlfriend or something?)

This is a great example of what superhero movies can be. I will definitely buy this movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman vs Superman started off with a boring recap of what most people already knew... that batmans parents were murdered. Also another flaw at the start of the movie is that there were civilians standing around not panicking when several buildings were collapsing. The final major flaw was the situation didn't make much sense, i mean batman and superman have saved many lives and they are looked at as enemies? Kinda strange. The overall fight scenes were pretty great. Finally the idea seemed destined to be a fail but they managed to make it enjoyable. Worth checking it out in theater. Expand

After the excellent Nolan trilogy, we have come to know of a darker, bolder Batman far fetched from Keaton or Clooney. But, Zack Snyder still thinks of superhero films as boom-boom, bang bang, high budgeted blockbusters, and he certainley delivers us one here. It's really dark, violent and gritty entertainment with amazing fights and great acting with the highlight being the wonderful Gal Gadot and the amazing Ben Affleck as Batman. Henry Cavill felt overshadowed by all the big stars including Jeremy Irons and of course Jesse Eisenberg. I felt like his Superman wasn't as fleshed out as Christopher Reeve or Brandon Routh. Eisenberg was OK in his role as Lex Luthor although they could have done better casting, the jokes don't fall and he isn't insane enough as Kevin Spacey. Ben Affleck knocked it out of the park, I think he is up there in the top with Keaton and Bale. I was shocked to see how faithful Snyder is to the comics, which is a good things sometimes, except when you misuse this power like he has, you get an uneven, packed film that gives you absolutely no time to breathe and render what you have seen, things move quick and there is absolutely nothing human about the film at all because of this. That aside there are brilliantly paced action scenes and the Batmobile chase is going to keep you on the edge of your seat. This has to be one of the darkest DC Comics movie since The Dark Knight, with violent and creepy dream sequences and very violent fights between Batman and Superman. Overall, this is a decent movie that stays faithful to the comics and has some brilliant acting and good action, but it's terribly long, uneven and Doomsday is just crammed it just like everything in the movie. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a huge DC fan, I read the comics, I buy every animated movie that comes out the day of release, I have DC comic book character prints all over my apartment, I have a poster of the Justice league in my office where different groups call themselves different marvel teams such as the avengers, and X-Force. I'm a minority in the office and defend DC frequently. I even flew to Seattle to watch it with my brother. Nobody wanted this to be an amazing success more than me.

From the critics perspective I have a film studies minor from college, I spend and embaressing amount of time watching and reading about film. So From a critics perspective I feel I have a good understanding of where they're coming from.

Putting it simply, this movie is just bad. As the art of film goes its far too disjointed and confusing. The story has no continuity. They spend so much time setting up great ideas like challenging superman's authority by the government, Which is a fantastic idea, but right as it gets interesting and Superman is meeting with the senator. Boom, screw this storyline lets kill everyone and then never mention it again. Essentially making the first third of the movie a waste of time.

As a comic book fan I understand that they are setting up Injustice and darkseid and the nods to flashpoint paradox, death of superman, dark knight returns, death in the family. When flash comes to warn batman, it seems like it would be a bigger deal, but almost immediately after it happens its brushed under the rug, and forgotten. Batman's motivations to kill superman are completely thick headed. He fly's into a blind rage and wants to kill him without even talking to him. Then changes his mind when all the adrenaline is pumping and seconds away from killing superman because Superman has a mother. Despite how you think Batman should be, this is just not how someone described as the worlds greatest detective would act. He would act after carefully calculating his position and objective in the long run. Maybe, I don't know, talk to Superman and find out his intentions, but if Batman's fears were realized and superman really could rule or destroy the planet (which is obviously the case because the Flash tried to warn Batman of this exact future, but Batman ignores this highly unusual event), Superman would do these things regardless of his earth mother/family/friends, especially if lois died.

Luthor's motivations are unclear. I know why he hates superman in the comics, but the movie starts and Lex just hates him, Why? He just does. The world then just conveniently allows for all his plans to proceed. The kryptonian ship just gives him command because the plot requires it to happen. Batman just stupidly falls into line to fight Superman because the plot requires it. The creation of doomsday happened because the plot demanded it. Just throw some blood on zod and you get a doomsday, of course! The senator stands in Lex's way and he kills her without even the slightest difficulty. With all the terrorism these days, they had not preventative measures? His entire plan, falls into place because the plot needs it to happen.

Most of the movie is just throwing stuff to make fans happy, and set up other movies. The only motivation was money. True, they need to make money for the production and the a financial return, but does that have to be the only motivation? We can't make something that will be remembered? No true love for comics like Ryan Reynolds Deadpool? Just money... The tie ins for the other characters were entirely forced so they could set up the other movies. They didn't support the plot at all. Even Wonder Woman's inclusion was only there because they needed help to fight doomsday, she never explained what she was doing there she left the world of man, and now she's back, just because. Gal did a GREAT job in the roll but the character shouldn't have been there. She was just there because fans' want to see the holy trinity on screen. Killing Superman was completely wasted, everyone hates him in this world and killing him off now means nothing. People could have started hating him, and then over several movies start to love him and at the height of his popularity, then you kill him, and gather all the justice league, the whole world to mourn him just like in the comic. So when he comes back its far more memorable and we see why we love him so much. Maybe having the JL struggle to kill off darkseid, and when all seems lost, THEN bring him back as a symbol of hope. Killing him now is just to appease fans. Then the movie ends and everyone can rest assured because he didn't really die. With all Zack's CONSTANT Jesus symbolism you'd think superman's sacrifice would mean more. Why not have it end with everyone thinking he's dead, just like the comic."DID THEY REALLY KILL HIM OFF!" People would be dying to see the next film.

In the end, events of the film would all be avoided if someone listened to Superman for more than 5 seconds...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With a movie called "Batman v Superman", you thought it would be epic, gritty, exciting, well-acted and well-directed. If that thought came across your mind, you might have been tricked by April Fool's Day jokers (not intended, I swear). "Dawn of Justice" is the kind of movie I'm more than tired to talk about, simply because it doesn't refrain from other generic super-hero formulas. The Marvel Cinematic Universe became essentially a big advertisement for movies that won't come, and that was painfully obvious when "Age of Ultron" came around. Liking this less than the latter one might be baffling for some DC fanatics, but that's because I got some enjoyment out of Avengers 2. Sure, it was a CGI-fest just like this one, however the cast seemed that they were having fun, and the action wasn't ultimately boring. But that's from my perspective. That was not the only issue the movie had. The movie is clearly overloaded with too much setup and establishing new characters (like Bruce Wayne) that tries to be 3 different things: a Man of Steel sequel, a Batman reboot and an ad for the Justice League film.

So much fuss around Ben Affleck portraying the Caped Crusader, and he was easily the best part of the movie. I don't understand how fans thought he would make much of a damage in a movie where Zack Snyder is the director and David S. Goyer is one of the screenwriters. Nevertheless, Affleck rised to the occasion and brought a sense of darkness to its character that was unlike the other live-action representations of Batman. His interaction with Alfred were a standout, and it was just amazing to see the bat of Gotham make a return to the big screen. Henry Cavill was solid, but not in the same page as Affleck. Too often he was more of a blank face than anything else. His character, though, had a nice arc. I liked that Superman didn't think he was the hero Metropolis or the entire world deserved, and that he could not give the hope that the 'S' on his suit stands for. It was a pleasant theme, one that could have gotten a more dramatic punch if it weren't for the other subplots looming around. Amy Adams was good, but her character did struggle with being relevant to the plot, and most of the time, she was just... there. But the weakest element is, for sure, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. Firstly, totally miscast. And secondly, who directed his performance? Nobody? Excusing laughable things like Luthor's p*ss in that jar, he was over-the-top, cheesy... and nothing else, really. His presence makes zero sense other than to make the titular battle begin, which is more than I can say about him.

The action wasn't a helping factor either - though the warehouse scene was awesome - and was more chaotic and bombastic than entertaining. I can appreciate the absence of the shaky cameras, but the dreary color palette and the need for explosions and everything happening at the same time was exhausting. Doomsday looked horrible. So was the final battle. What the hell was that?

As a Justice League setup, it might have worked, but as a piece of filmmaking, "Batman v Superman" was a movie I was hyped to see. I truly wanted to like it. With that said, this movie falls short in the same category as those mediocre super-hero movies called The Fantastic Four. Loud, overstuffed and most definitely "not fun", this is a movie ONLY for fanboys.

Score: 4.5/10

Only superman got the backstory from the prequel that makes him 'alive' in this movie. The other characters were thin and foreign. I'm no expert but personally I feel that this batman didn't have the unique personality and emotion that defines batman. It could be any random superhero and batman's plot scenes would still work.

Finally they should've titled the movie differently. From marketing standpoint it makes sense but the plot weakened because they forced the story to revolve around the movie title. It could've been a better movie if they called it something else other than Batman vs Superman.

FFFFFUUUUCCCKKK!!! I really wanted to like this one, I really did.

What follows are some scattershot thoughts of mine on the movie:

This is a giant mess of a movie that clunks it's way to the finish line. Zack Snyder lays everything on so thick and hard, there is no lightness... and I'm not talking about humour or anything like that I mean there is no soft touch, no finesse it's all heavy handed.

This movie is slow to a point and then **** finally goes down within the last 50 minutes of the movie and when it does it was too much, just like in Man of Steel we have a big "epic" display of destruction and it wore me down.

There were some cool bits scattered throughout which there would want to be in a two and a half hour movie.

I liked Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and as the Batman-esque vigilante he plays for most of the movie. He's not really Batman until close to the end of the film, through no fault of Affleck's.

Jesse Eisenberg is good as Lex Luthor and he has some great moments in the movie... But it feels like, to me, that he auditioned for the part of the Joker, didn't get it and decided that he was going to be Joker anyway even though he was cast as Luthor. That's just what I think -- Still love Jesse Eisenberg though.

Gal Gadot makes for a good Wonder Woman and she could really shine in a Justice League movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is just one big tease for the Justice League, which I would love to see. I still think there is a little glimmer of hope that it could be good, this movie hasn't extinguished that hope in me, just dimmed it a little.

They're pushing too hard for a DC shared universe. They should've taken more time with it, eased us into it. But they didn't!

DC, Warner Bros. or whoever. Stop letting Zack Snyder make these movies! DO NOT under any circumstances let him TOUCH the Justice League. That is all.

By the way: I don't like this movie. Just stating that for the record in case it wasn't clear.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wasn't a huge fan of Man of Steel. It had a lot going for it, but it was way too joyless for a Superman origin story. Also, the best takes on Supes have always been aspirational. He's supposed to be the best of us. Otherwise such a ridiculously overpowered hero almost always comes off as a bit of a dull douchebag. So that's my disclaimer.

That being said, I enjoyed Man of Steel quite a bit more than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It's not a terrible film, and by far the best thing in it is Ben Affleck as what is, let's admit it, a really only slightly more unhinged take on Bruce Wayne/Batman. His character's motivation for trying to take out the Man of Steel may not be totally convincing, but the sheer intensity of his performance goes a long way toward glossing over what should be glaring plot weaknesses.

Henry Cavill's Superman, however, remains as inexplicably wooden as ever. I say inexplicably because I've seen Cavill give more than one very good performance. I even enjoyed him in the ridiculous Snyder-lite ripoff, "Immortals." But his Superman has to be the least entertaining version I've ever seen. At this point I'd take Dean Cain over him. Seriously. Dean Cain.

The other performances are middling to decent. Gal Gadot's go as Wonder Woman is sufficient to pique interest in her upcoming solo film. Amy Adams is still OK as Lois Lane. I wasn't nearly as annoyed by Jesse Eisenburg's Alexander Luthor, jr. as others seem to be. I wasn't crazy about the character, but he didn't make me cringe nearly as often as I expected him to do.

The biggest shortcomings of the film are all behind the camera. The writing is very thin. Thin might be too generous a word. Frankly, the plot wasn't very good at all, and the scattered editing doesn't help matters. There's no good reason for a film of this running length to be made up primarily of scenes shorter than most of its trailers. No element of the story is allowed to develop interest in the viewer before we've cut to some other, largely unrelated scene somewhere else.

Then there's the ending. After a pretty convoluted but undeniably enjoyable battle between the film's headliners, here comes Doomsday. It's as if the writers realized that, given the antagonist of the film is really just a mentally unbalanced dweeb who Lois Lane could drag off to jail with one arm tied behind her back, when our heroes stopped fighting each other and teamed up to defeat him, the experience was bound to be anticlimactic. So instead they shoehorn in the ultimate in comic book boss battles. The Death and Life of Superman, while admittedly a stunt, was still one of the most well-executed stunts in comic history. It deserved to be adapted to the big screen as more than an afterthought.

A DC movie for DC fans, this is not for the casual movie-goer or for the typical Marvel fan that only likes the "Good guys are fine; Good guys are not fine; Good guys fight Bad Guys; Good guys win." structure that these kinds of movies usually have. This is a dark movie, not a comedy. It's plot is not perfect, but superhero movies do not usually have a perfect plot, people just tend to forgive them because of the light heart and the jokes.
First of all, this was the best Barman ever shown in the big screen. Affleck killed it, his cynical, rough and psychotic Batman truly represents the nature of the character. To people saying he is too hateful, to insane, that he should be a symbol of hope, i say: nope. A man that dresses as a bat and goes hit people every night has to be insane, he has to be damaged, he has to be a criminal. People jut don't like to think of heroes that way. He is not a symbol of hope for the people. He is a symbol o fear to the criminals, and of safety for the everyday man.
Of Superman, i say this: although not that interesting and even though this is more a Bat movie than a Sups one, Snyder really managed to capture what would happen if an overpowered alien simply arrived and started doing stuff without asking permission. Although not the best Superman around, it was decent at worst and managed to portray the character well, although he could be better. Also, loved the religious symbolism. People always tend to fixate their hopes on powerful figures.
Wonder Woman was incredible. Although her part on the movie was short, she was great in every single scene, exceeding Superman on awesomeness. Looking forward to the solo movie.
Luthor.... well, he's kind'of a hit or miss. It's obviously a different portrayal of the red haired son of the original Luthor, and it passes, but it could be better. It doesn't damage the film, but having Mark Zuckerberg as the big baddie just isn't very intimidating for me. Still had some great scenes and lines.
Doomsday..... not my cup of tea, very bad design, but oh well, the fight was epic, it's conclusion impressive, they even followed the comics somewhat in its resolution. They took a risk, and in the end it just kind' of worked.
Visually it's stunning.
Music was amazing.
The Justice League set up was lazy, but acceptable i guess. Loved the dream sequences.
Loved seeing Batman killing people, been wanting him to do that for ages (come on, so he throws people off rooftops but "he never kills". Right.)
Lots of references and influences of great comics, including Flashpoint, Injustice and especially The Dark Knight Returns.
Overall, a great movie, been expecting something like this for a long time. Not a masterpiece, not really well put together. Not that smart, not that rational. Had it been someone other than Batman and Superman it wouldn't have worked.
But guess what. It was them, and it did work.
Can't wait for more, just hope the hate doesn't kill DC while they're just beginning.

To my surprise, Affleck was a very good Batman. Lex/Eisenberg were the surprising (to me) weak links. The way Lex was written reminded me of a hybrid Joker/Lex character more than what Lex Luther is supposed to be. Eisenberg was a terrible casting choice.
Other than that, the cast was very solid, the action was great, and it was a fun and enjoyable movie. I didn't find the story hard to follow at all. This movie is a much needed win for DC in this genre!

My point is with or without Cryptonite the man of steel can surely slap around Batman who has no super powers and is plain and simple just a regular human. There really was no need of embarrassing Superman like that! The ultimate disrespect was that Lois Lane had to beg Batman not to end Supermans miserable life. The only thing left was to see Batman riding around in his Batmobile whith Superman handcuffed in his trunk....

They may not always be award winning, but done properly, they can be decent films to watch, a kind of fan service to the people who have made their franchises popular for years.

Batman V Superman is slow, tedious and full of exposition. This isn't the way a super hero movie should be done. Super Hero shows, cartoons, movies and comics are supposed to be heavy on action and light on plot.

I don't know what the writer(s) or producer(s) thought when making this movie, but a movie about Batman fighting Superman is boring. In what universe would this ever be acceptable? The movie is more about the politics surrounding heroes then the heroes themselves and that's just sad.

Then there is the amount of messing around of classic cannon comic history they do that just ruins the movie even more. Back is the goofy voice for Batman when he is suited up, Lex looks like a fair skinned ginger in his late 20's and don't even get me started on Doomsday. This is all a huge joke and an insult to fans.

I didn't pay to see this movie and I'm glad I didn't, I would have wanted a damn refund. If they managed to do a proper Deadpool film, why haven't they been able to do a proper Batman OR Superman movie in the last 3 decades?!

I think this movie successfully setup a few different solo films I'm craving and it was visually interesting. Ben Affleck's batman has me interested and this movie makes me more interested in seeing the next Batman solo film than in seeing Snyder's next opening.

While I did enjoy the visual narrative of the film, I thought it was ultimately wasted on a hodgepodge of different storylines that seemed to have disregarded the film's center narrative in favor of packing it full of as many different ideas as possible. So while I do think the story may go in interesting places in the future, this film taken on its own merits did not necessarily work as the brooding piece about what is justice it seemed to want to be.

Nonetheless, I can still enjoy a bad film. Some of the new characters were enjoyable in ways that Snyder's superman is not, the lead-in for Justice League has piqued my curiousity, and the visuals here were better than Snyder's past outing. As someone who hated Man of Steel, I think this is an improvement on Snyder's vision for that movie but how far that will take this franchise and DC movie franchise is questionable to me at best. I would say this film certainly deserved its divisiveness.

Who said that it's easy to save to the world? One day you're an enigmatic hero with red cape, who wakes up every morning with a vision of salvation for all mankind. The next day, he's located in a court accused of generating extreme losses and catastrophic deaths of innocent people, yeah, it's not a joke. It's not relaxing that in the same city there is a guy with dress black and gloomy voice that is absorbing and containing some kind of hatred towards the Kriptonian.

"Clark Kent: Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city; good people living in fear.
Bruce Wayne: Don't believe everything you hear, son.
Clark Kent: I've seen it, Mr. Wayne. He thinks he's above the law.
Clark Kent: Most of the world doesn't share your opinion, Mr. Wayne.
Bruce Wayne: Maybe it's that Gotham City and me... we just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns"

These lines are faithful signals of the dissimilarity between them and opens the backdrop of dramatic and argumentative plot of the tape of the year.

This is the theme used by the visionary director Zack Snyder for the shocking title "BvS". This man conceives to "Ben Affleck" - in his first time as the "Dark Knight" (being the best forever) - "Henry Cavill" - for the second time as "Clark Kent" - and fire and dynamite from the movie (I'm tempted to say the best) "Gal Gadot" models to our "Wonder Woman" of this time. Do you need more attractive?' Therefore, the impressive point is won by Jesse Eisenberg as Alexander Joseph Luthor "Lex" (I think neither Bryan Cranston could overcome him).

The awaited confrontation of two of the characters most iconic DC Comics (for me, they're three) is not a nonsense without remedy as critics claim. It is one of the best films of heroes in 25 years and the experience improves if you live it in IMAX.

"Dawn of Justice" is a colorful painting with a range of dark colors for the eyes, with many surprises and tricks up its sleeve, with impeccable performances (it is difficult to see it in films of this genre), with the exact content of humor, with profound and eloquent drama, with effects from other world, with a subliminal entrance of characters and superhumans who are just around the corner and seeing the opening of DC with this film, Marvel Studios has a hard job.

We are all tired of the adaptations made a monetary purposes that takes advantage of its great label. Thank you before hand that the second phase of Marvel Entertaiment finished last year. That hole has filled it (and possibly continue filling) production company Warner Bros., debuting in the genre with a prelude that excites even to the most older guys. No more films of superheroes full of comedy and silly stories (Marvel), "BvS" praises to their genre giving a good premise, good combination of genres and an exceptional show. Hopefully that "Civil War" will open the third phase with a different focus because Warner has projects such like rice.

"Batman V Superman" tells around the entire film its synthesis, it abstaining to the denouement of have a closed end. Around of all the footage, references the "metahumans" is constant and sometimes makes us think that this is a facade to inaugurate the world of the "Justice League".

Diane Prince, is still undetectable to the press but for others it is very visible. Before entry the audience at cinema, they already wondered in what second reappear our warrior lady, the wait was suffocating but she illuminates the scene at the Lex's conference, her elegance, her bearing, her physical, although the criticisms initials about Gal, she is the biggest attraction of the movie and the next appearance of the Queen Amazon will have more time on screen delighting us with her presence.

You know, throughout all marketing and promotion I felt rage and anger with all the expectation which was about Affleck but and Henry?. I confess that this man was with who I had greater empathy, and his sad death made me cry. It is impossible to select characters by their interpretations and characters in "BvS".

Affleck's Batman is the best in the history of Batman, his metaphysical transformation for the boy of Gotham was extreme, it exhibiting his effort with his performance, a man who is tired of looking like a hero destroys the city. Salve or destroy?

The twist of the plot that gets the film is suitable, because everyone knew that if a superhero loses, he would lose credibility and would seem less, which so decide to join them. That the better trick.

"BvS" revives the love of the audience providing a faithful adaptation to comic. So, Snyder has closed with a spectacular finish, their duty has been fulfilled and is prepared to start engines in April, approaching the chaos (in the good way) Perfect for fans and for the public in general, "Batman V Superman" seduces and impacts, full of magnetism and loyalty, the wait is over , we are satiated, film take the sweet of the genre showing the hidden side of the coin.

Wonder Woman was a welcomed addition but her introduction was far from good, Although she was great in the final fight of the film.

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was sort of a hit and miss for me. He's a very dialogue driven character but most of his dialogue seemed to be filled with verbal ticks and mutters of a mad man rather than a cold and calculated business man. I think they'd have been better off with an older, more mature Lex than a young man.

Speaking of the fight between Batman vs Superman, It was short but sweet. It totally lived up but I expected a bit more back and forth and didn't like that it was so one sided from start to finish. The fight with Doomsday used way too much CGI and seemed like a cluster-f**k of color on screen. Batman, naturally, just sat that one out as Wonder Woman got her chance to shine and use her array of weapons on Doomsday. It was sort of eh for a finale of such a good movie.

Overall, Affleck owned the role of Batman and that alone makes this movie worth seeing. He had so many great action scenes and one liners. The fight between him and Superman was exactly how we wanted it to be. It's a very well done film. Can't wait to buy the director's cut and see all the goodies we missed out on in the theatrical cut.

Gal Gadot was my biggest worry but she killed and those who watched it know what I'm talking about.

People need to remember this is only DCs 2nd outing in this cinematic Universe, Marvel had like 3 or 4 before the Avengers so be patient. The hate is undeserved Affleck is better than Bale imo, comparing the films isn't fair Im talking about the character and for me Affleck was amazing as Batman. Cavill is okay, Im English but I can tell his American accent is off at time but oh well he looks the part and thats the main thing. The movie is not perfect but the good parts vastly outweigh the bad parts and surprisingly to me, not all the good parts were action scenes. Can't wait for Justice League to outshine the Avengers.

A Man of Steel sequel with a new Director would have been better than this mess. This movie starts by acknowledging the backlash over the destruction at the end of Man of Steel and then proceeds to do the exact same thing. Mindless destruction of entire buildings and cities filled with people but this time they've recorded 2-3 lines from extras saying that the area is abandoned.

Jesse Eisenberg is a good actor, but a poor fit for Lex Luthor. Ben Affleck was not convincing as Batman, there was 0 transformation of the character. A lot of time is spent on Batman's childhood which everyone already knows.

There are major logical fallacies here, at one point they depict Gotham and Metropolis as being directly across from each other. I'm talking like a 5 minute drive to get to one from the other. A lot of ideas are pulled straight from Nolan and done to poor effect here, they also ripped a few ideas from Harry Potter Goblet of Fire when Jesse creates Doomsday with absolutely no explanation.

The Superman and Batman fight was not very intense, and it was very short. The movie is not kid friendly, buildings collapse filled with people, someone tries to set a woman on fire, a trip to Africa where everyone gets shot, there's a bomber. Never seen Batman and Superman kill so many people, honestly never seen Batman and Superman ever intentionally kill anyone, that's why they're such icons. Batman doesn't disable cars on his way to Luthor he literally explodes them filled with people.

Wonder Woman was really solid but the costume was lame and a lot of her scenes were poorly written. The actress Gal Gadot did a nice job. The crowd loved her.

Terrible Movie. The director is incompetent. I don't feel an emotional connection to these films, am often left in disbelief at the amount of destruction they overlook. The tone of the films is uneven and jarring, the plot does not make sense.

Henry Cavill is a real, complex Superman (similar to Kingdom Come Superman). Gal Gadot is a striking and interesting Wonder Woman. Jeremy Irons nails Alfred. Disclaimer: I'm a Batman fan, I like Superman. I was disappointed by Man of Steel but love the Nolan trilogy (I don't expect this to be anything like Nolan).

What this movie does right:
Great cinematography, sets the mood well
Not too much time spent on Batman's backstory, which would be a drag to most viewers. Instead he's fully formed at this point. I prefer it this way.
Batfleck is fine. He won't blow you away but he does a solid job
The action is a spectacle to behold
The Batman vs Superman fight isn't dumb

Now to the reason why this movie was a disappointment:
1. Pacing: Awful, there are parts that drag, parts that overwhelming. At one point you're wishing they just fight, so the plot actually advances
2. "The final boss": Shoehorned in, you probably know who through the trailers.
3. Writing: MELODRAMA GALORE. Some scenes just seem insulting to the viewer, they're melodramatic despite you knowing that the melodrama is pointless. The Lois and Clarke drama just isn't interesting.
4. Lex Luthor sucks. This is a personal opinion, so ignore it if you will.
5. Dream sequences. I know what they mean because I'm a fan of the medium, I know it's foreshadowing, but it seems out of place for most viewers, and doesn't seem to relevant to the plot. It provides much needed action, but that's a failure of the pacing rather than the strength of the sequences.
6. Batman's no killing rule. Most people see this as **** even in the Nolan films. Batman is a thug, and he beats on villains to the point that they might actually die. But in BvS it seems like a lot of scenes have Batman definitely killing (not the dream sequences, the Batmobile scenes). I don't mind if he kills, as long as it's explained or addressed. It just feels out of character and due to poor writing rather than a pivotal change in character.

In summary: It seems like everyone is trying really hard to make a good movie. It had potential to be a lot more, but it's flaws are fatal. Bad pacing and bad writing (some of it is good, but the bad parts stick out a lot more) really kill it for me. It isn't as fun as Marvel movies and it isn't as deep as the Nolan films (or even Watchmen). I wouldn't recommend the movie, but let's be honest, you're gonna see it anyway.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think that this was a very dark movie specially for Batman. This will contain spoilers but I have to spoil so that people can understand why this was a dark film. BATMAN KILLS IN THIS MOVIE! Yeah... The paid criminals don't live when they see batman. That is not Batman, and when they discuss about what to do with superman, it feels so stupid because in the film Bruce or Alfred says that they have done this for over 20 YEARS!! Why do they talk about superman after 20 years?! This doesn't add up. Did superman come to earth 20 years after Bruce started being a hero? Why is Batman "Marking" criminals with a bat symbol on their chest?

Lex Luthor is bad in this film. That is not Lex, that is Jokers son. He acted crazy like Joker. Why didn't they use Lex from Smallville? Ben Affleck did look cool but to me, did not fit the role as I hoped for. Batman isn't as smart as he is in the animated movies. No problems with Superman or Wonder Woman. Loved all the Justice League and Darkseid hints. Just waiting for a sequel to this film with the rest of the Justice League. BUT PLEASE DC! USE THE HEROES FROM THE SERIES LIKE GRANT GUSTIN AS THE FLASH!

Another problem is that they tried to fit a lot of story in this film which made the film a little bit boring. Too much I won't remember when the sequel comes.

All in all, this movie is okay and it works.

Does the movie have flaws? Sure! The same flaws that you can find in every other superhero film. IMHO, it's major flaw was trying to pack too much material in a single film. Warner should have respected and appropriated pace instead of trying to rush the delivery of Justice League film just to compete with Avengers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm surprised and confused at first I expected this film but when he started to leave the reviews on Metacritic my expectation fell from 100 to 20 (on a scale from 0 to 100) I leave to the very happy, I really loved Ben Affleck as Batman, I liked the action scenes (especially the fight between Batman and Superman), I Liked Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman, Henry Cavill was acceptable Superman but was lower than in man of steel perhaps because he had to split the screen with Ben Affleck, I thought Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred pretty weird since Alfred seemed full of intellect film making it appear that the Batman is a dumb that moves by emotion and anger and Lex Luthor is more for Joker than Luthor, I did not like anything Apocalipe looked more like a Ninja Turtle, I did not like the excess Amy Adams (Lois Lane) even if it is ok in acting out, what I most hated of all the cast was Zack Snyder as he does not put rhythm in the film, puts useless things like the dreams of Batman, has time that superman is fighting with the apocalypse and nothing for all to rescue Lois Lane and kisses, want to mix the greatest works hq in m film of 2 hours and 30 minutes, that yes was the biggest problem of the film of course you have a few other things also as excess CGI, visual pollution also, many script holes put what most upset me in the film was a failure call Zack Snyder as director, and last and least the soundtrack of the film made by Hanz Zimmer (the Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Man of Steel) and Junkie XL (Mad Max Fury Road) that deliver expected of them with a trail Sensational sound.

Do you like Batman? Superman? the DC characters if so you will like the film is clear that not of to compare with the epic trilogy of Christian Nolan however is rather a little higher than the Man of Steel, worth the entry of money for a fan to someone who is not fan or who does not like good heroes movie maybe you will not like so much.

I appreciated it for what it was, and it brought me the 2 biggest superhero icons on the big screen with Wonder Women (the biggest female superhero also). A lot of people had the problem with pre-conceived notions of how Batman and Superman are suppose to be. This is a different take on the heroes, and if people cannot accept that, then of course it will get negativity. There were some plot problems but the action was awesome. There is more depth to this movie than people realize. I could go on and write pages about my thoughts on it. But it is not a bad movie, it did put a lot of content into one movie.. But this should not get a low rating as it has. Real comic book fans and fans of DC's top 3 heroes can appreciate the comic references this movie gives. This is a different take on the heroes and it is darker, but I liked it. I loved Man of Steel and I probably am in the minority, but it should not be compared to Marvel. Two totally different things. I just wish there could be more appreciation for Superman, but I am excited for Justice League. This movie deserves more recognition than it is getting. Expand

The movie does have some moments that are pretty good, but overall I'd say this was a flop in my eyes. No major spoilers. Maybe minor ones, but nothing big or that wasn't already revealed in trailers.

Giving it a 3/10 because the only thing even worth seeing in this movie is a few of the action sequences, and even those are sprinkled with disappointment.

Positives:
+Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman steals every scene she is in. She doesn't talk much, but she is smart, tough, and kind. The little bit she is in this movie has me excited for the upcoming WW movie, which I previously wasn't.
+Action sequences in the last 20 minutes of the movie are pretty good. A bit overboard on the CGI, but still good. It will look dated in a few years though I'm sure.
+All of the justice league actors do a fine job acting-wise. They embody their characters well, even if their script was garbage at times.
+Jeremy Irons is a great Alfred. Can't wait to see more of him in the Batman solo film.

Negatives:
-Batman straight up murders people, with guns even. No question about it. This is not Batman, this is Zack Snyder fan fiction.
-The plot is an absolute mess. They tried to do 4 movies in one and it just turned out a convoluted mess. Man of Steel 2, Doomsday, Dawn of Justice, and The Dark Knight Returns. It tries to do all four of those storylines at once and it all had to get gutted to fit into a single movie.
-Jesse Eisenberg is atrocious at "Alexander" Luthor. They make it a point to differentiate him from "Lex" Luthor. Jesse talks about his father as if he's dead though, so this is the Lex Luthor we get. Every single second he was on screen was cringeworthy.
-In the end we are led to believe that Lex masterminded the confrontation between Batman and Superman, but its more like things just happened that way and Lex took credit for it all.

I would've preferred to watch a 40 minute version of this movie, and that wouldn't have cut out any of the substance. Lex Luthor was perplexing, normally being one of Superman's greatest villains he was reduced to an awkward weirdo who was not intimidating or impressive. I rarely post reviews but this movie was awful enough for me to say don't spend your money on it! If you must see it wait for it to play on a movie channel or borrow it off one of your friends foolish enough to buy it. I would advise against even that but I couldn't be talked out of seeing it so I understand the sentiment. A dull experience for my friend and I. Expand
