Their scathing attitude towards it is a little too visceral to be just part of their job. It's kind of bizarre. Anyway, I was one of the people who loved Man of Steel, and Batman V Superman was a great follow up. I actually really dislike Ben Affleck in general, but he made me forget that during this movie. Everything was phenomenal. The only critique I have is I thought the dream sequence was unnecessary clutter amidst an already complicated (but still quite coherent) screenplay. If I were one of the cast or crew, I would pay attention to the fact that audiences on Metacritic, RottenTomatoes, and IMDB have all been largely supportive. Expand

In this movie, acting was intense, the mood was real dark (even darker than in the last Batman movies)
and the action was so extreme (and well filmed) it managed to really surprise me.
And that is no mean feat ;)

I really enjoyed this movie and I didn't expect to. I have an extreme dislike of Ben Affleck, but I have to grudgingly admit that his take on Batman was great. The movie was slow in the beginning, but by the end you almost have to catch your breath.

This is by no means a perfect movie. It has serious flaws that I'm sure have been written about by critics ad nauseum, and this is where I take issue with critics. This was a fun movie that was an absolute pleasure to watch on the big screen. If you had taken Zach Snyder's name off this movie and put JJ Abrams on it, then I'm willing to bet the critic score for this movie would be 30 points higher on average. Some directors critics just seem to have it in for. This movie was extremely flawed but fun to watch, yet it gets burned by critics. JJ Abrams makes a fun but EXTREMELY flawed movie in Force Awakens, and critics swoon because it's JJ Abrams.

If you're on the fence about this movie because of the critics, don't be. Go see this movie and enjoy it for the fun visual spectacle that it is. You won't regret it.

I suppose this is why 99.9% of them can barely pay their rent. This movie may not be a masterpiece, but it is worthy of watching and that is a lot coming from me. I am a tough critic... just check my reviews.

The visuals look good though Doomsday looked a bit like clay. The comic book tie-ins were fun, but they are not exactly "loyal" and a few might be confusing for folks who dont read comics but its trivially easy for them to look it up if they care to (specifically the future dream). Acting was good all around although I think that Affleck is a miscast as was Alexander. The fight between Batman and Superman was ok but inconsistent with Superman's powers. The fight against Doomsday was great but very short lived and as stated earlier, not exactly consistent with the comics but that is not a requirement.

Lets look at the flaws. Waaaaaaaay too much going on in one film. They took two major comic book stories and pressed them into one film. The problem with this is that character development suffers and that is exactly what happens. Bruce Wayne ends up getting more quality screen time than both Clark and Wonder Woman so the movie feels like a Batman story, with the other two characters thrown in as support. This would not be a bad thing if it were not for the fact that one of the two major plots was based on a major Superman story (Doomsday) that spanned many comic books. So here we have a major story line about Superman and Doomsday and it gets washed aside in favor of getting to know the dark side of Bruce Wayne.

The other problem I had is with Affleck... he did a good acting job but no matter how hard I try, I find him too goofy to be Batman and it killed immersion. His facial expressions are just funny... and not intimidating yet he is cast as something that is supposed to bring nightmares to people. I mean... he just didnt look right even with a mask on. He is simply too soft. When he says that the Wayne's were originally hunters, and walked off with a serious look on his face... I laughed because A) he is looks goofy and B) he played a character in a (great) movie called Good Will Hunting lol and that is about all he has in common with hunters.

Alexander was by far the most poorly written character. The problem with his character is that he is kind of dumb and his motives are just childish. His mannerisms are more like the Joker or Riddler than they are of a Luthor, who are usually well grounded and complex. Instead, Alexander is just another nut job. It simply was not believable that someone like him would be able to orchestrate all the things that happened but I suppose anything is possible... just look at politicians and many corporate executives.

Other than those points, there are plot holes in this movie and several minor issues but they all revolve around point #1 in that they tried to cram too much into one movie. The Doomsday arch should have been left to the next movie while the Batman v Superman battle should have remained the focus of this one with more screen time given to develop the plot and more character development for Superman who seemed to be somewhat lackadaisical in this movie.

Overall however it was a good movie and a fun time... again, from me, this is high praise. I want to see Superman again and I want to see Wonder Women and although I like Batman... whenever I saw Affleck I quickly got pulled out of the movie. This is no fault of his, he is an ok actor, but frankly Matt Damon would have been better and even that would be sort of funny to see. Collapse

I've read reviews that say there is no clear explanation as to whyI went into this movie with low expectations, I normally do not listen to reviews from critics anyways, but I felt like this movie has a lot of pressure on it to be great. I've read reviews that say there is no clear explanation as to why Batman doesn't trust Superman, believe me, it is absolutely clear once you see what Bruce Wayne witnesses from his perspective. There are also other factors that push him over the edge but I will not spoil anything. Speaking of Batman, Ben Affleck portrays a Batman like none we have ever seen, you hear in the trailers that he has spent 20+ years in Gotham and you see what 20 years does to the Batman. This has to be my favorite interpretation of Batman. As far as some critics saying Wonder Woman comes to save the day because the men cant handle it, she's definitely bad ass, but from what I saw she shows up as their equal. She obviously knows her stuff after having a century or more of military and combat training. Watching the three of them, I felt like I was watching a comic come to life, all three have their strengths and complemented each other well. I really feel this movie is not getting the credit it deserves, yes some parts seemed to jump around, but if you paid attention and know anything about the DC universe it will all make sense. Even my friend who went with me and knows nothing of DC comics, really enjoyed this movie, and he expected it to be awful. Yes I had to explain to him some of DC comic history after we left the theater, and once I did, he completely understood. All in all, if you're a fan of the DC universe, definitely give this movie a chance and ignore the negative reviews you're seeing. If you don't like it, that's fine, give it your own Meta score, like I said I read some reviews from these critics and didn't expect to like this movie. Half way through I thought to myself these critics have it all wrong. I'm really glad I went to see this movie and I will definitely be seeing it again. Expand

I think it is also important to note that while I may have a slight preference for Marvel's properties; I still have a fondness for DC's iconic characters. I know enough about the characters that I questioned several things in the film and was disappointed to see some of my worst fears were realized.

I feel that your personal enjoyment of the film as with any other is a subject of your personal biases and experiences. This film is a decidedly darker film which I am not entirely opposed to if it fits the character. In this case I don't think the darker tone is the film's biggest problem. It fits the darker interpretation of Affleck's Batman which is absolutely brutal. This batman is the darkest that I have seen in a while. I will openly admit I had my concerns about Affleck being cast but I am glad to say that he delivers a fantastic performance. I can't wait to see him in a solo Batman film.

The other casting choices are all relatively solid with one exception. Gal Gadot delivers a great Wonder Woman and like Affleck I can't wait to see the solo Wonder Woman film. Jeremy Irons plays a more active Alfred which is nice to see. Amy Adams reprises her role as Lois Lane which along with Martha Kent adds a human element to the film that balances its darker tones. The exception is Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal as Lex Luthor. Its important to note that this is not the Lex Luthor many may have been expecting as he plays Lex Luthor's son. His performance could best be summed up as erratic. As other reviewers have put it; it feels like Jesse Eisenberg is playing Jesse Eisenberg.

The movie is about two and a half hours long and its pacing issues are compounded by its runtime . The beginning to middle are very heavy on dialogue and exposition. The themes presented are intriguing but are hard to digest given the number of them. Its dream sequences and jump cuts to entirely different scenes undermine the overall narrative. The other problem I feel is that while the action sequences were great; Zack Snyder isn't a great storyteller.

The biggest fear I had going into the film was that it would repeat the same mistake Spiderman 3 made where characters felt crammed in. I think the film avoided this; though it does seem like the "Dawn of Justice" was oversold a bit. However I do think that I would have preferred the solo films before the ensemble like Marvel has done. In the end I think BvS is an alright film that had parts I really liked while it had others that left me scratching my head. DC now has the foundation out of the way to build upon for the Justice League.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My actual score is an 8.5 out of 10 and my oh my what a doozy it has been with the split between people loving it, and the contrary. I have spent more than an adequate amount of time reading reviews from all over the internet whether it be from a critic or the audience. The critics reviews seem to be copying one another, with saying things like, "it is incoherent in the first half". "There isn't much fun to be had". The tone is too grim throughout leaving it "humorless". It is "swept over by visual effects reducing a powerful story". My opinion after seeing this malarkey time and time again from these so called professional movie reviewers, is that they have fallen into a cacophony of Marvel formula style superhero movies. I would bet on the fact that if this film were to have been released near the time frame of when Marvel was building up to 2012's Avengers, that the current reviews would be drastically different and more positive because most of these critics are allowing themselves to sink into a specific tone that has been set for how superhero movies are to supposedly be made throughout the past 8 years.

BvS was a great way to start up the DC universe, aside from some plot "inquiries" I will call them instead of "holes". Narratively speaking, the switch from Batman trying to crush Superman to then saving his mother could have been built up in a stronger fashion. In real time of the film itself, this switch feels too abrupt since there wasn't enough story to back up the fact that not only was Batman afraid of what Superman might become leading him to feel as though he needed to be confronted, but that there is also a sense needed of Superman becoming an ally. This was one of the biggest points that failed a lot of the audience. Him simply siding with Superman in lieu of deep-seated emotional trauma wasn't just enough to make it fully believable. Especially since he was seconds from cutting his head off with that spear. Why not include Batman accepting both possibilities (friend or foe) throughout the film? Other than that flaw, pretty much all other complaints on the plot seem to be either asinine or forgivable due to the fact that only so much can be crammed into one film before moans of longevity accumulate.

The other mentionable up sides to this Zack Snyder film, are by far the overall performances of our three heroes. Affleck received much hate prior to the film's production, and to no surprise of my own, was he excellent. In addition, the costume for Batman is probably my favorite of any previous iteration. Cavill reprised his role, and brought what he was given (directively speaking) to full potential. I love his interpretation and look for Superman. He is what Hugh Jackman is to Wolverine, the perfectly cast actor for the job. And oh how I want to see Superman use his ice breath! This is two installments now without as little as much of a puff, from this distinguishing ability. Also, some more of those distinct Superman uppercuts where he clasps his hands together, wouldn't hurt either. Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot brings magic to the screen with this first live action portrayal in a blockbuster film. It was a very exciting moment to see her presence finally embrace the big screen. Worth noting, is the score specifically made for her character; it was one of the best I have heard for any hero yet. Maybe even on par with Hans Zimmer's prior work on the Dark Knight. Aside from the heroes, Jesse Eisenberg's take on Luthor had me convinced of his lunacy and ultimate strive for his ability to be amongst the powerful demigod that is his main rival, Superman.

Overall, I am perplexed by the amount of negative feedback from some people but am one of many that happened to love this film. Looking forward to a second viewing. Congratulations to the cast and crew behind this large step for the DC cinematic universe. Thanks for reading.

I probably enjoyed it more as the abuse this film has suffered from "critics" lowered my expectations before seeing it. It was a interesting use of the source material at this stage of DC's cinematic universe building which I suppose some critics will have felt was a injustice to the direction they thought the movie should have been taken in. I can see how it would be polarising, but this was a film made for the fans, it was almost as if they had lifted the Batman from the Arkham games and recent animated films and put him live on screen! The cameos and nods to various comics was cool too. Expand

I'm surprise at the negative reaction from some people. This film is better than most of the X-Men films (with the except of maybe Days of Future Past) and it is better than Age of Ultron, Iron Man 2 and 3, Thor: The Dark World, and any of the transformers movies. We get he best version of Batman on film to date (which is not easy task after Nolan/Bale); we get and enigmatic and powerful female hero in Wonder Woman, a simple but effective setup for the Justice League, and a great final battle. The visuals are awesome, the score powerful (love the Wonder Woman track) and the Easter eggs are plentiful if you are a DC fan. Lex could be controversial, but even then it is better than all previous cinematic version of Lex combined. Some people may get lost if they don't pay attention, it is unapologetically a super hero movie. Overall, the movie is entertaining (didn't even feel the 2+ hours) and it is successful in setting up the dawn of the Justice League. See it for yourself, it is well worth the price of admission. If you are a comic book fan, one JL tie-in will shock both you and a major character into flipping out, while another acknowledgement of an old factoid is one of the strongest emotional moments in a comic book movie.

Batman is finally made real and you will see why he is driven to do what he does. Superman is put through the emotional wringer. Wonder Woman is awesome. Brings a fresh but weird take on Lex, whose genius is a product of trial and error rather than a master plan and who sees immensely strong beings as a personal affront to his bastion of knowledge based power. Supporting actors are great, especially Jeremy Irons and Holly Hunter while Laurence Fishburne has fun.

This film had a lot of checkboxes and managed to tick off most of them. Re-starting the Batman franchise, following up on the events of MoS, introducing Wonder Woman and a number of other Justice League characters. It can get a little choppy at times, but I found it very enjoyable and would watch again.

It's gorgeous, if dark. Although somehow not as bleak as Dark Knight Rises was. Cavil continues good work as Superman, Affleck is surprisingly great as the new Batman, and Gal Gadot does good work with a too-limited role. Jessie Eisenberg does a fantastic job as Lex Luthor.

One of the problems is too many characters—there's not enough time for most. It would be nice if the writers could figure out a character for Perry White, as in MoS, Laurence Fishburne is mostly wasted here. Lois Lane could also use some more characterization.

Also better than MoS is the fight choreography/CGI, specifically the end sequence.

I thought the movie was great. Batman and Lex Luther really stood out. The movie was darker than we're use to but I don't think that's a bad thing at all. Not sure why the critics are so upset.

Internet and critics were to harsh on the movie but to be fair, you have to have a lot of DC-related knowledge to enjoy the movie. Clearly is not aiming to a wide audience. Content is good, the distribution of it, is flawed. Also Affleck and Gadot, nailed their roles! (Luthor was meh, but I hope for some potential future development).
If you don't want to spend nearly 3 hours sitting (feels like a marathon of a series) then yup, wait for the Netflix release. But overall, I really liked the movie, and if you liked the DC-animated movies, then you probably like this one too. It doesn't deserve the bad reviews and this kind of movies clearly show how bad-used-to we are with all this colorful Marvel movies. Is a very dense movie comparable with Watchmen, a lot of things happen and the assembly of those things might be a bit confusing and against the pacing, but again, the content is good. You don't go out with the sense of "oh, they could have added -insert anything- in there". It is a needed movie for what it comes for the DC cinematic universe, it was a good choice not to make it a proper MoS sequel or a Batman solo movie. It is a transition movie with a lot of context created for you to understand why things are happening, or will happen.
PS: Ben Affleck, if you ever read this, know that you were a superb Batman, way better than Bale.. Don't be Sad.

When I heard the critics reviews for the film I was worried because I was very excited for this movie. But the movie didn't disappoint I absolutely loved this movie, All the critics can KISS MY ASS! Ben Affleck killed it as Batman he was awesome. Since Im a very big Batman fan I expected him to give a great performance, and he kicks a lot of ass. Henry Cavil did well as Superman, he wasn't as good as Christopher Reeves but he still did well (Still prefer Batman) The Most badass female in this movie is definitely Wonder woman, She was beautiful,Badass, and she knew her way around Batman. I know Some people were not crazy about Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor but in my eyes he did really well. At some parts he over acted a little but in the end he did good, plus he was really creepy at some parts. Amy Adams as Lois Lane did well she came off to much of a damsel in distress. One last thing I have to say is the film is very dark and thats what DC comics, is known for. So If you don't like it because there could of been more laughing moments its understandable. I Think the movie kind of jumped around at some parts but it got so much better and awesome when "Son of Krypton" fought "The Bat of Gotham." One last problem I did not like how Doomsday looked in the film, He looked like a troll had sex with the abomination from The Incredible Hulk. I just wasn't digging it. But over all this film is amazing it was shot beautifully, amazing actors and actresses,Cool ass action. Zack Snyder keep up the good work and thank you for giving us this film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow. The critics got this one totally wrong. The only flaw that I had with this movie was Doomsday looking like a ninja turtle. The opening scene is one of the most memorable scenes of the movie. Everyone acting in the movie did great. Jessie Eisenburg did a fine job has the son of Lex Luthor but everything came with twists and turns. This movie is not that dark, it is actually sort of fun, bit not Avengers fun. Everything that comes oout of Alfred's mouth is hilarious. Bruce Wayne is my favorite Batman, but Christian Bale is my favorite Bruce Wayne. I loved his fighting style and Ben Affleck did an amazing job. I can't wait to see him in a stand alone movie. All I'm saying is that this movie is underrated. Don't listen to the disgusting critic reviews and see the movie. Expand

Ben Affleck was on screen for most of the movie, and I hardly noticed him. So, I guess he did a fine job. I was a little troubled by Batman shooting the bad guys like the Punisher would. And Superman came across as abrasive. Obviously, they tried to do too much. It was too long, but it's not like it dragged so bad. On the whole, I'd say it was a fun ride. The Trekies, the Harry Potter cult, the people who sleep on the side walk when a new I Phone is introduced ? I went to the late Saturday night showing so the theater was filled with harmless mutants wearing Superman and Batman gear. The talk in the lobby suggested these fans see the characters as REAL super heroes. O.K., they paid their $15. They're entitled. The film itself wasted a huge budget. The first 1/2 of the movie was somewhat confusing. The plot was made clear in the 2nd half. Cavill not the right guy for his part but Ben and Wonder Woman were just right . The action scenes were over done.
To wrap it up, if you are just as enthusiastic about comic book characters as you were as a kid, you will probably like it. If you enjoy some (a little) subtlety, you won't because the action scenes are over done. The same story with another director might have been better. As an aside, we went out for pizza before the movie and that was great

I think the movie got off to a slow start and some of the sub plots were just not necessary and could have been omitted. Although the start was slow and at times boring, it was essential for the overall plot of the movie's title. But once the action starts unfolding, its amazing. Did it exceed my expectations? No. But it didn't fall way short either like the reviewers want us to believe. I actually rated it an 8.5/10 and that's because of the slow pacing start. But go see the movie for yourselves and don't listen to the critics who seem like they had their reviews already printed before they saw the film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Have to admit, I was a little disappointed and a bit wary after reading some of the critic's reviews; however, after seeing the film myself, I honestly don't think it's that bad. Sure, there are some problems with pacing and humour (though there are a couple of laughs to be had after the two superheroes join forces) as well as a seemingly random post-apocalyptic dream sequence/vision, and yes, the final battle is fairly generic, but overall, I felt the film delivered on at least a basic level in bringing to screen a Batman v Superman tale, one that develops the character and plot elements from Man of Steel, while setting the stage for the even bigger Justice League films. As far as why you pay extra to go sit in an IMAX theatre and see a movie in 3d? Yeah, it goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Overall, worth your money to see in the theatre if you like the spectacle, action movie super genre.
If you are even a little bit burnt out on superhero movies, or your kind of on the fence about them but have liked some of the better ones, and only those... stay home. You'll probably not like it.

PEOPLE HATE WHAT THEY DONT UNDERSTAND -- Martha Kent.

Movie is good I don't know if some critics are even relevant when it comes to super heroes movies. It has flaws yes but the good things outweighs the bad ones. The characters are on point, the entire cast was amazing, Affleck best batman so far and Gadot was great as WW, Henry has flesh out his Superman acting as well. The villain of the movie (Lex Jr.) has very good motives I think this is one of a few villains in super heroes movies done right because this is not Lex Luthor Father this is Alexander Luthor Son which is just psychotic from his parent abuses. There are 3 plot lines but they all converge at the end and form one so I don't know why is that a problem either. I think a 4 "plot line" could be the teases but they are just that TEASES of something greater that to be frank I want to see. Overall the movie is great, I think it has a good balance between action and character development and yes there is character development and whoever tell you otherwise don't understand this movie at all.

When the movie was first announced I was super excited just likeAfter only four years since The Dark Knight trilogy ended, Warner Brothers decided to reboot the character and instantly put it against the Superman we saw in Man of Steel. When the movie was first announced I was super excited just like everybody else in the world was, then Ben Affleck was announced as Batman and we all started to have doubts. When the trailers came out I started thinking that my doubts would come alive, but did they?
As a huge fan of Batman and DC, I desperately wanted this movie to be amazing but after seeing Man of Steel and the trailers, my expectations were instantly lowered. Even with my low expectations, I was disappointed by this movie. What disappointed me the most was the potential that I saw in this movie that was wasted thanks to Warner Bros. and the director Zack Snyder, who I believe is the man to blame for the failure of this movie.
I may have been disappointed by the movie but I have to say that it still has some positive factors in it. First of all, the movie did a great job with showing the consequences of the events of Man of Steel and the destruction it created. This also meant that it did a great job with explaining the Batman and Superman conflict. Everything about Batman vs Superman was so awesome that its awesomeness only made my disappointment bigger. If these two conflicts were all this movie was about, I can assure you that it would have been a spectacular film. We also got to see a new Batman with his new suit and a slightly different personality. This new Batman is played by Ben Affleck, who I thought was the best part of the movie. I would say that he is the best Bruce Wayne we had so far in cinema and also a pretty good Batman. He brought something new to the bat-vigilante, with his new cool armor and a new Alfred. His servant Alfred was also something that the movie did well with. Jeremy Irons was very suitable casting for Alfred and he showed it with his performance in the movie, I loved him. This new Batman has a lot of promise and I love it already. Another casting choice that proved the doubters wrong was Gal Gadot, as I thought she did a really good job as Wonder Woman and her character looks very promising. The only problem with Wonder Woman was that her role was too unnecessarily big in Batman V Superman. The action and cinematography in this film was mind-blowing, hence why it gets the adjective beautiful. Especially the Batman-Superman fight scene was one of the best fight scenes I saw in my life. Zack Snyder might not be the best storyteller but it has to be said that he knows how to make a fantastic looking movie. I also really liked how the soundtrack portrayed all the different characters in the movie. The last positive of this movie is the way Justice League was set up in the very end of the film, but only the very end!
After I took the pros off my chest, I can finally talk about the cons. To pick off where I left off, Warner Bros. trying to set-up the Justice League movie degraded this movie as a whole. This made a movie that was supposed to be the biggest fight of the century, only a set-up for Justice League. The fundamental issue of this film was how overcrowded it was. It had too many stories in it: a Batman vs Superman fight, the consequences of Man of Steel, a Justice League set-up and Lex Luthor’s huge evil plan. Because it had too many storylines, none of them could be given adequate time and all of them fell flat other than the Justice League set-up, which didn’t need to be there at all. Lex Luthor’s evil plan should have been saved for the Justice League movie, so should have been Doomsday who was totally wasted in this story. A movie like this shouldn’t have had a real villain. It was the two biggest titans of the superhero genre fighting each other and there were already comic books about it that could have easily been implemented to the silver screen. Speaking of a villain, Lex Luthor was by far the worst character in the movie. In hindsight, his presence should have been kept to a minimum and only as a setup for the future. What really happened was that they made him a character as important as both Batman and Superman, and it was extremely annoying. Jesse Eisenberg’s casting as Lex Luthor was another controversial casting choice, and this one proved the doubters right. Luthor was totally out of character and it seemed as though Jesse Eisenberg was playing the supervillain version of Mark Zuckerberg. Everything about Lex Luthor in this movie was the true description of disappointing. Another extremely annoying character was Lois Lane. Her contributions to this movie were far exceeded by the annoyance she created. It is obvious that Superman needs Lois Lane, however this movie made her the girl that constantly created unnecessary drama and got herself in peril every single second. She shouldn’t have had so much screen time if she wasn’t going to have any real contribution to the story. Superman in Batman vs Su

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly I'm a comic fan of all types. I love marvel and DC but I love then both for very different reasons. I love Marvel for the fantastical universes they create and populate with the unexpected heroes. DC I love fire vastly different reasons; it is the dystopian nihilist visions of the impact of superheroes that engage me.

Is this film perfect? Not in a million years but as a faithful reproduction of the DC universe it is perfect for my own expectations. I feel that Synders representation of the impact of superheroes in a fully fleshed out modern world; it is the impact of choices and the devastation that superhuman powers could have are central to this film.

If you don't love watchmen and are not fully invested in the nihilist DC universe that is represented in the Man of Steel, the Dark Knight and the Death of Superman series then this is not the film for you. At all. I'd even advise you to stay away because it will do nothing for you except to potentially annoy you.

This film is made by a fan, for the fans and will be confusing for any one else. The film expects the viewer the have a good grasp of the lore as there are significant plot holes in the film that are only alluded to in the film.

If you expect a happy film with happy tones then your in the wrong place.

I loved it. The pacing was great, batman was recreated impeccably, wonder woman was used well. It looks great and sounds incredible.

Bravo Mr Synder, bravo. From one fan to another, thank you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This and man of steel fully respect the comics, those critics who bashed it, probably love the high school humor from Marvel comics and love the "realistic" Batman from the Dark Knight trilogy. Well news flash - comic book movies are not meant to be realistic! You people do not get it: this movie was never meant to have character development or a plot or a story, it is just a starter course for the main course - Justice League. It is meant for true comic book fans, people who already know the character's backstory and just want to see Batman fight with Superman, they don't want to see for 1 hour how the character became a superhero, they already know!
So, to the critics who gave the movie scores under 50, please, quit your jobs, or better yet, stick to casual movies like Adam Sandler's or Hunger Games and rate those 11/10 if you can't tell the difference between a masterpiece and a piece of crap

I watched the film on friday and for me it was awesome the pictures, the music and how they connect to each other. Sure Eisenberg has to care not to go in too far with the lunacy to not be too similiar to a joker, but overall he did a great job. I liked Ben Affleck as Batman also very much and Henry Cavil as Superman is perfect in my opinion. Maybe it is cause i like movies with epic music and screenplay that i liked that movie so much. Somone who expects a Marvel like movie like avengers which is more lighthearded( with more jokes) a story line which is easy to follow and more action right from the beginning will be disappointed, but everyone who likes epic music, epic screenplay, opera like movies and the fight between darkness and light should see this movie. I know, I'm surprised too! Affleck and Cavill were great. The critics were way off-base giving this film low scores.

The Good:
- I went in expecting an action film. And got it, plus a bit of depth to Batman
- The best parts of the movie are the dream sequences and the Bruce/Kent scenes.
- Alfred is awesome.
- Following some comic cannon and break some cannon
- Lex Luthor is a big crazy jerk (I enjoyed it, again unexpectedly)
- The non-supervillain fight scenes were great.
- It was fun film.

The Mediocre:
- WW scenes
- Couple of plot holes

The Bad:
- Money Hungry Producers (the bane of all movie buffs)
-Rushed plot, they could have cut the cameos and stuck to Bats, Sups & WW.
-David Goyer is absolutely a great writer; but the Money Hungry Producers asked to much of him.
-Zack Snyder is a good director, and obviously loves comics; but the Money Hungry Producers asked to much of him too.
- Brand building by Money Hungry Producers
- the supervillain a CGI mess at time, although, considering the source material, its pretty close...
- Should have given it a sharper/harder ending - but Money Hungry Producers need to setup a franchise.
- Did I mention Money Hungry Producers

Good action film, you should go see it. Really, I give it: 78/100 - Don't expect a Chis Nolan drama/adventure film and you won't be disappointed.

What should be the setup for the end is in fact a whole lot of nothing happening at all. And I mean that it is void of both action and emotion, it is just plain and simple 90 minutes or more of nothingness. I could probably have more fun with a blank screen. When the movie approaches the end you have lot of actiongasm that works for everyone but that is so artificial that you should better watch video game cinematics on youtube. Snyder managed to take away the soul of the Dark Knight comics in favor of a shallow fight and managed to completely waste Doomsday, I mean, Doomsday is only there as "geekgasm enhancer", like the Wonder Woman (to present her without a deep context is just so shallow it hurts). Overall this is what all this film was about, a lot of nothingness followed by shallowness, it completely fails as a movie and fails to please me as a fan, the only thing this movie is good for is to teach people nihilism or even make teenagers go to the church looking for god after such an empty experience.
Seriously, do not waste your time watching this. But if you insist, sleep past the first two acts.
One last thing... what is wrong with these people that they NEVER EVER get Lex Luthor right? I mean I like the actors and like their villains but that thing they do is not Lex Luthor.

Ben Affleck's Batman is spectacular. Finally we get the fight scenes and the acrobatics Batman is known for in Frank Miller's comics. Gal Gadot was equally spectacular as Wonder Woman. And Henry Caville is Superman. Period.
Lex Luthor was the only poor casting choice in my opinion. Came off as a college nerd douche bag, instead of an evil mastermind.
Ignore the horrible reviews and go see this movie. Critics must be bought and paid for by the Goldmans, because they are dead wrong with their scores.

After much anticipation, I thought, "Finally we're going to see the two greatest heroes of DC comic history face off". Utimately we got about 30 minutes of Batman vs. Superman with 2 hours of the dawning of justice.

It's understandable that some back story of how we get to Batman and Superman's battle is necessary. The issue is the overwhelming amount of details DC attempts to cram into one story. There is enough content in this one film for two or three other movies.
For the sake of not making this review as long and somewhat boring as the film, here's the main points:

Ben Affleck is surprisingly decent as Batman and even better as Bruce Wayne.
While it shouldn't matter, I found it a little disturbingly and definitely annoying that Alfred looked like an old Robert Downey Jr.
There just wasn't enough Batman vs Superman and too much Batman/Superman vs everybody/everything else.
The lovey dubey bs is out of place, annoying and just awkwardly timed considering the events that are occurring when Clark and Lois decide to profess their love for each other.
There is sooooooooooooo...ooooooooooooooo many side plots and intertwined story threads that you can't even catch them all. In fact some of the subplots just look like a random stitching together of stories to get the audience to the Justice League.
DC continues to over do it trying to compete with those other comic guys when DC should really stay in it's lane and cater to it's niche with slow build up and elaborate themes...but one movie at a time.

My opinion, if you have two and a half hours to spare...save it for something else. Otherwise prepare for a decent though somewhat scatterbrained story and enjoy the ride. Don't expect too much more beyond content on content on content and you shouldn't have a problem.

ACTUAL rating 8. The 10 is to try and balance out the undeserved zeros.
I found the overall plot and the fight scenes enjoyable, Ben Affleck really came through in his role and carried the movie as Batman, he plays the older angry batman perfectly. The only problem for me was a didn't like Eisenbergs Lex Luthor, and doomsday was a bit of e let down, it wasn't necessarily bad I just felt like it was one of the only parts in the movie that didn't stay true to the comics. While it felt like a lot was packed into this movie, it only slightly took away from the overall effect, and if your a fan of comic book movies don't let the reviews scare you away there's a high chance you'll like it.

Difficult task trying to serve many masters and basically cram 4 movies and many different legendary comic book stories into one film. I think the mission is achieved here. I think people need to accept this new DC universe which still borrows from the past but with a new twist on the characters. You get the feeling that the best is yet to come with these characters and that superman, batman and company will continue to evolve. Expand

Zack Snyder films should be known for receiving lukewarm responses. Batman V Superman is no exception.
Once again, another film that presents an unfocused narrative. The story was all over the place. I sat in my seat baffled for most of the time. However, there was enough story to have some sort of comprehension towards the whole premise. Along with that, the film presents Bruce has pertaining to the same credentials as is comic book counterpart, and Ben nails it. But what bothered me the most was the Batman character. What I saw was not true to the comics. Batman is a hero whose incentive is to preserve justice and apprehend his victims through lethal but not deadly means. Here, I saw a Batman who was bent on killing Superman and kills his enemies. KILLS THEM! It wasn't pleasing to see him depicted in such a unpleasing manner. I really did like the visual effects of the film, though. And the action is further emphasized in this film. Overall, it had something going for it, but Zack's approach towards action over story and thematic approach didn't make this film a favorite for me. So much for my anticipation...

The movie was thoroughly enjoyable and did not feel too long. Not once did I glance at my watch. As for acting performances, I thought Affleck did a really good job with Batman. Definitely a far more physical and grittier version than Bale's. The one quibble I have was that the "Doomsday" character felt like cheesy CGI and is the type of battle we've seen before. Thought Snyder used this movie well to set up a future DC "Universe". My two friends both had the same immediate reaction as I did, namely why did the critics hate this move that badly? We thought it was going to be "Cawoman" horrible and it was far from it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Three years ago at SDCC after Man of Steel graced the big screen, it was announced that Batman and Superman would cross paths in what would be the most anticipated film of a decade [lol]. Along the run there were controversial issues surrounding the movie. Ben Affleck was casted as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and people flipped their **** [He was actually the best part] . The title was revealed as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice [No...not "vs."..."v"]. The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg was casted as Lex Luthor [Screw Bryan Cranston, I loved this decision]. Gal Gadot was casted as Wonder Woman and every DC fanboy rose from their comic books and cheered as the "holy trinity' would come together in live action cinema for the very first time. Snyder promised fans that the new age of DC superhero movies would birth something greater than a "flavour of the week" Marvel flick [It didn't]. When Warner Brothers showed their first full length trailer at SDCC 2015, Marvel fanboys cowered and purged all of their Civil War first prints [idiots] in an attempt to convert. Then there was the Doomsday reveal [we will get more into that later].

So, March 25th, 2016 rolls around and we were finally given the [mis]fortune of entering what will be the "Dawn" of the Justice League and what was said to be Captain America Civil War's biggest competition. I'll admit the early critic reviews did not have me worried; I went in with an open and clear mind. I loved the hell out of Man of Steel and what Zack Snyder did with it regardless of its poor reviews.

BvS on the other hand, I have mixed **** emotions of what was supposed to be the answer to Marvel's critically and financially successful movie universe. [In reality you can't really compare the two. What, this is DCEU's second film? Marvel is going on it's 13th. That's like comparing the accomplishments of someone in diapers to a teenager getting his first part-time job.]

I'm just going to get right into this and lay out what worked and what flat out didn't. Please excuse any profanity that may follow.

The Good

+ The opening credits was very engaging. It was such a fresh way to tell the origin of Batman we are all use to. This helped get that out of the way before the movie started. The cinematography for the scene was very reminiscent of Watchmen, but that is not a bad thing.

+I thought seeing the battle of Metropolis from Bruce Wayne's standpoint was effective in giving him cause to want to fight Superman.

+I liked the overall tone of Ben Affleck's Batman. I think Affleck did such a great job and deserves credit. I can actually admit I am excited for a solo Batman movie. I like the idea of an old grizzled Batman, you get the sense from the movie that this is not his first rodeo.

+I liked Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. We will leave it at that.

+LEX LUTHOR. Everyone hated him. I LOVED THIS GUY! He was literally the only person in the movie having fun and it was refreshing. I thought his dialogue was awesome. I loved his conspiracy within the plot [don't get that confused with liking the conspiracy as a whole]. I loved the point where he had control over Superman by kidnapping both of his loved ones. I am a fan of the business man Lex, but this was a curve ball that kept me enthralled. Even the allusions to heaven and hell were entertaining coming from this poetic incarnation.

+The action and choreography was pure eye candy. You can tell the amount of money and care was put into each action scene [except one, and we will get there]. I really liked the Batman v Superman fight scene as well as when he is taking on 30 of those thugs while trying to save Martha.

+Superman decaying in space was cool.

+I always appreciate Zack Snyder's cinematography.

+Hans Zimmer never fails to make a sweet soundtrack. I love the return of Superman's theme and I am very surprised by Wonder Woman's!

+I feel like Zack Snyder loves the Arkham video game series. This works for the best.

+I was intrigued by the political drama tone the movie gave [to an extent].

+ I'm excited for Ezra Miller as The Flash.

+There were seven jokes this time instead of the only two that were in MoS.

+Batman killing.

+It was super cool to see the other members of the Justice League make a quick cameo in the video feeds Lex had...

The Bad

-...although it was cool, THIS IS NOT THE DAMN TIME DC! This movie is in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would have at least released a solo movie for each player before giving us a Batman and Superman prelude or whatever you want to call this thing.

-To expand on the above negative, I felt that this movie suffered from a lot of bloat. The first half was like a five in one value pack minus the value part. Nothing about cramming five movies worth of content into half a movie is ok. The story failed to be coherent in the first act. Yes, it did all come together into something salvageable after Lex revealed he conspired to get Supes to take on Batman, but in turn it lead into one of the worst CGI **** of a generation...

-Some of you may call it cool, but I was too busy having a seizure to understand what the **** Zack Snyder was thinking. What happened with all the cool **** you pulled off in Man of Steel? I WANT THAT BACK!

-This brings me on to Doomsday. The design I can get over, but you literally pulled a Green Goblin in TASM2. At least the Green Goblin had some prior development. As a comic book reader, I get what Doomsday's purpose was, but you could have saved him for a Man of Steel movie. This was a waste of Doomsday. His explosion power was stupid.

-Spoiler incoming......SUPERMAN DIES! Yes, they decided to do the Death of Superman storyline. Arguably the most popular, but also the most overrated. I mean I can't complain because at least it is out of the way and when Superman gets out of his Superhero coma, we can get back to some good **** [hopefully]. I mean the way he died was very Superman, but it had no emotional pull that it should of. Cavill is an awesome Superman, don't get me wrong, but the character just didn't have enough time with the audience for us to care that he died. -Why did Batman ask if Wonder Woman was with him when he was investigating her the whole damn movie. -The movie takes itself way too seriously sometimes when it comes to the public outcry on Superman. -The "Holy Trinity" finally coming together was very underwhelming. The Excruciatingly Horrible -- Lois Lane. Why the hell did you throw the spear in the water only to need it afterwards. Also, why the hell does this bid have to be everywhere all the damn time. Oh right because she is a "journalist" not "a woman"[that is actually a quote from the movie, don't shame me]. --Can someone please explain to me why Superman and Lois are in love? Only use content from Man of Steel and this movie....yeah that's what I thought. -- The scene where Batman put all his differences aside because his mom and Superman's mom share the same name is so painful to watch. That is just lazy writing. --Zack Snyder hates Superman. That was literally not Superman. I felt he was a politician from Krypton. There was no lightness and hope that came with this interpretation. Only a guy who was arguing with Batman on who's dick is bigger. --How/Why did Lex become the Master of that Kryptonian ship? Because the plot needed him to...right? --WHY THE **** DID THAT WHOLE AFRICA THING NEED TO HAPPEN! THAT WAS A WASTE OF SCREEN TIME AND SECONDS YOU COULD HAVE USED TO FILL THE MARIANAS TRENCH THAT IS PLOT HOLES. --Zack Snyder killed Jimmy Olsen just because he can. And wait, you are only now figuring out that guy in Africa with the camera who got shot in the head was Jimmy Olsen. --But wait...isn't there a Jenny Olsen too that Snyder introduced in MoS? Are they related? Married? Who cares at this point. --That glimpse of Cyborg looked stupid. --How could the greatest detective alive not detect he was being setup by Luthor? --So Batman gets premonitions now? --I would put the scene where the Flash comes to warn Bruce about the future as a positive but it went on WAY too long, I started laughing. --Kevin Costner did not need to be in this movie. --Jeremy Irons as Alfred was ok, but I felt as though him and Bruce's relationship resembled old college buddies as opposed to Alfred being a father figure. --Senator Finch. In conclusion, there were a lot of ambitious moments but mostly stuff that was just plain bad. I think Zack Snyder fails to truly understand these characters. His vision is a representation of the only two comic books he has ever read..."The Death of Superman" and "The Dark Knight Returns". Call me a casual DC fan, part-time superhero lover and full-time movie enthusiast, so I can respect a DC film when I see one. If Zack wants to step down and give someone else a go [even though he goes into production on the Justice League next week], I will be happy to give this universe another shot. As of now, consider me disinterested. I will give this a solid "Meh..." 5.654345210283029/10 [Score is based off I don't **** know, just give me Captain America: Civl War already!]

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are points that I like to categorize in my pros and cons section for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
PROS:
+ Batman and Superman kicking each other's asses
+ Ben Affleck's Batman, Henry Cavill's Superman, and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman
+ The action intensity is so high that MoS can't keep up with
+ Wonder Woman
+ Hans Zimmer's and Junkie XL's iconic score fires up the action scenes flawlessy
+ Astonishing visual effects
+ Irons and Adams at their best when supporting their heroes throughout the whole film
+ The trio fight against the 'big one'
+ Those iconic cameos if you know what I mean
CONS
- The introduction of the story felted weird
- The pacing of this movie felt rushed
- Doomsday kinda lacks
- Confusing subplots and dilemma
- Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is very unpleasant to watch
- Weak backstory and other elements that are trying to hard to make this movie feel like a Michael Bay film
- Certain scenes feel rushed compared to Snyder's Watchmen, 300, and MoS
- The unexpected revival at the end yay...
- Zack Snyder's directing is wack

VERDICT: Since I can't rate 7.5 out of 10 but I have to scale it on 8 because after watching this movie I grinned a little when it comes to the action sequences and the soundtrack intensity. However, the story feels so rushed and somewhat confusing that it feels like the season 2 of True Detective and yet still satisfies a little but not entirely. And the only wish that I ever want to make the next installment for Justice League Part One better than BvS is that we want the iconic director George Miller to direct that film instead of Zack Snyder trying to ruin the film again.. I'm sorry Snyder your visual effects from your past films is astonishing but at the same time your direction on your movies is horrible and it almost equals Michael Bay's directing.

Yeah I know it's a studio film and Affleck bought his way in with a six-picture deal but with that chin and voice he's not the intimidating Batman the film should have. Aside from that, I loved the film and can't wait to see the extended cut I am sure will feel better paced. Expand

Some issues with plot and character use however both batman and wonder woman portrayed spot on. The dream sequences could confuse those with less prior knowledge/ experience of the DC universe Superman has the biggest challenge both in motivation and connection to the audience. Very wooden in delivery not much hope or anything to really like about superman. I do feel that too much was shared during the lead up and it takes away from the overall experience (common issue during trailers and pre release campaign these days ). Very dark could use some softer moments would improve overall experience. Lex could be less cartoonie at times more devious like some of the recent videos overall he was ok. Special effects were great some gaps in fight sequence s . Thought doomsday was much better that critical press on the character. Look forward to both batman and wonder woman in the future hope they continue to steal the show. I really feel the professional press/critics are ganging up on a movie they never gave a chance. Its a fantasy comic book movie go have some fun with it Expand

The critics almost ruined this movie for me. I'm so glad they are wrong.
I have always been a huge batman and superman fan but I didn't want a batman vs superman movie. I didn't think they belonged together in a shared universe on screen. I was also terrified when they announced Ben Affleck was cast as batman. When Wonder Woman was announced, I contemplated hurting kittens. In my mind Marvel was the only studio I though could pull off a good story with a shared universe. BUT- Zack Snyder and team more than just pulled it off and proved me wrong, they nailed it and blew it out of the park. This movie was an amazing work of art from start to finish. Not only did it look beautiful, have great action and effects- it had a well fleshed out and cohesive story. I'm not understanding all the bad press about the incoherent story, this was story telling at its finest. In fact, it's the most cohesive superhero story I've seen in a long time. It's similar in formula to The Dark Knight, but much more cohesive. All of the actors did an amazing job making this movie and it's made up science feel real. I cried three times during the movie. Lex Was terrifying and awesome. I'm at odds with other superman fans as I grow tired of always needing Superman to battle big super things. Big super battles grow tiresome. Superman needs story. The best superman stories are when the bad guy uses his wit to outsmart superman and put him in impossible situations. The Lex storyline managed to pull this off beautifully, while still giving the rest of you a big super bad thing for superman to punch. And I agree with other fan reviews, this is the best onscreen adaption of batman-period. Wonder woman's final grand entrance was amazing and timed perfectly. It worked so much better in the full context with the story than it looked in the trailer. I'm actually excited to see the wonderwoman movie. Let's not forget about AMY Adams. I've been a huge fan of her acting ever since "Enchanted" and she did an amazing job as Lois again. She really helped ground this movie make it more human. (She also happens to be my one time wife-approved pass.) Also-if you read and enjoyed the superman comics in the 90's and then realized how ridiculous the plot lines were when you grew up, you'll be glad to know this movie found a way to take the basis of those stories and rectify it into something beautiful and believable. Well done WB and DC Zack and cast. I really hope this movie is a hit despite the pummeling it got from critics. Id be devastated to have go through another DC reboot after growing so attached to these characters. AND DC, please do not listen to the critics and "lighten up" the upcoming Justice League movies. That would be a huge mistake.

It was almost a dream to see what unfolded. As a long time DC fan this is everything I could’ve wished for and more. It told an intricate sophisticated story while giving us, while few, satisfying action sequences. This is what we’ve been waiting for not as just DC fans but as comic fans in general. If you love comics you owe it to yourself to see this film. I’m still can’t stop thinking about it, I need to see this movie a few more times in theaters its just such a monumental experience. To say this movie is not funny at all must either not be paying attention or needs it thrust upon them emphatically as is the way with Marvel films. The humor is subtle and flows from a sarcastic Alfred, to a quirky Lex, to Perry White (who I felt had the funniest lines in the film). As Bruce Wayne says “Don’t believe everything you hear son”. Go out and see this movie Expand

The critics really got it wrong here...

This is one hell of a comic book movie and I'll say why. So much was done right but it did have its problems.

Pros: Ben Affleck is the BEST batman to date, he was brutal and fast, he 'literally' killed it ;) Gal Gadot was amazing as Wonder Woman and was pure Bad Ass, Cavill as Superman was once again great and i can't believe i'm gonna say this but Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was fantastic, he was intimidating, insane and a genius that manipulates the plot magnificently. The action was some of the best i have seen in any comic book movie especially the Batman V Superman fight. The story was great and was well written, props to Chris Terrio. The Cameos were great and didn't feel shoehorned in imo, the Flash cameo blew my mind.

Now for the bad. The first half was a bit of a mess, editing was weird and pacing was a little off. Sorry but i just don't trust Zack Snyder with JL, the script was great but he just couldn't piece it together, but to his credit the visuals were amazing. I don't like how Lois was conveniently everywhere, it was quite irritating that she was shoved in every scene.

Overall a great movie, don't trust the critics on this one, you need to see it for yourself, who cares if it's not like a Marvel movie, they are great but DC is taking a different approach and people need to accept that.

I love the Marvel movies and I also loved MoS. I was blown away by BvS! It has a dark tone to it and doesn't integrate humor like a Marvel movie. If you go in expecting a DC version of a Marvel movie, you probably won't be happy. If you go in looking for a good superhero story playing with some pretty deep themes then this movie won't disappoint. It had a slow build up and then just simply exploded (in the best possible way)! I thought it had the best action set pieces I think I have ever seen in a superhero movie. I've never been a super big Wonder Woman fan but when she hits the scene as WW, she nails it! I wasn't sure how I would like Ben Affleck as Batman but I really liked his Frank Miller inspired Batman. Finally we have a cinematic batman who combines the super science, the world's greatest detective, and the world's greatest combatant into one version of the character. Henry Cavill (and his Superman) continue to grow and by the end of the movie, he truly is Superman, not just in name, but in deed and spirit. The easter eggs were awesome and exactly what I hoped for in a movie intent on launching a shared movie universe. I am going to watch it again just to try and discover all of them. Again, I love the Marvel movies but I have never had an emotional reaction to a Superhero movie like I did with the end of BvS. I'm not a very emotionally expressive person but I actually choked up! The problem is the pacing of the actual dilemma brought before us; should one man with the power of a god be governed by the laws of man? This gets bogged down by dream sequences, origin stories, previews to spin-off films and CGI monsters. The real dilemma in this film should have been two opposing egos battling to be accepted rather than coming attractions to sell a franchise-worth of toys. Expand

Confusion shouldn't be a deterrent,Batman v Superman is the perfect example why these no name critics are an absolute joke. While the movie isn't perfect...it's probably the truest comic book film to date from the visuals to the "confusion". Confusion shouldn't be a deterrent, confusion is the best part of any comic book story and people forget that. This movie isn't for those who like a clear cut story...this is a comic book...on film.

The audience, as a 75% majority vote this 4/5 or higher on average. This is a comic book movie that, thanks to Zak Synder's style, also looks and feels that way. It breaks away from the campy, Disney Princess garbage that was taking over the industry after The Dark Knight trilogy.

Lots of people will say, 'Zak ruined this' or 'Just trying to copy Nolan'. They are wrong. There were a ton of legendary writers and producers on this film. You can credit the visual beauty of the film to Zak though. The film literally feels like you are inside of a comic book...and the whole movie is that...a COMIC BOOK film.

It probably does the best job capturing Bruce Wayne/Batman in his elder years, Ben Affleck absolutely NAILS it. Ben Affleck was a perfect choice. Phenomenal performance. You can definitely tell Ben Affleck was serious about this role and you'll easily get lost in his portrayal.

Same goes for Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman...holy buns does she almost steal the show. We all were skeptical about Wonder Woman, but what a way to introduce her to the big screen. It's been too long and now that its finally here: Well freaking done!

Superman...well you're not going to get the campy boy scout anymore. The film does mention it, but this is more of telling Superman that the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

Now the movie isn't perfect. I said this. It does get confusing because it is setting up a huge universe. Those little parts that are confusing are likely parts you should watch again...because if you ever read a comic book before, the confusing parts are actually the best parts.

On top of all that, this movie is called 'DAWN OF JUSTICE' for a reason. Critics don't understand that. They expect dozens of films to explain stuff that is already part of our culture for decades (almost a century now). A real comic book fan can appreciate this film, it's visually stunning and compelling. Any confusion is exactly what you'd feel when you read a comic book, you'll be itching for the next issue.

Forget the critics. Listen to the audience...the fans. This movie is absolutely amazing.

The flaws far outweigh the qualities it has, and it feels like several stories are literally fighting to be told in the long run time. I was bored or turned off by bad performances for a large majority. Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is easily one of the worst comic book movie villains we've ever had, to a point where I can't imagine a possible future Superman movie being at all watchable if he had any kind of important role to play in it. Henry Cavill is surprisingly wooden as Superman here (and has no distinction with his Clark Kent) and also still lacks any chemistry with Amy Adams, whose role as Lois Lane seems to be retained from Man of Steel as a forced love interest and sometimes plot device. Doomsday was terrible and even the climactic action loses steam when it becomes CGI pixels crashing into each other that you can hardly make out since it's not filmed well. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman was passable (her acting hardly was, but the action worked) in her role, though with how small it is, I'd find it difficult to really screw up.

I think Zack Snyder is often, if not always ambitious with his movies. He puts a lot on the plate, and introduces ideas and concepts that are interesting to think about, but he never actually makes you think. He never really fully explores things in his films for the most part, and it ends up creating this pretentious, false depth the taps on ideas but hardly goes further. Ben Affleck's Batman isn't the best, but he's good, interesting, and certainly put in effort. Jeremy Irons' Alfred was great and I'd even say he could've been around more. Overall, watching this felt more like a chore than anything.

Henry Cavil once again brings a humble, emotional Superman to the screen, pretty much identical to Man of Steel.

The average viewer will love this movie. At the theater I went to people applauded and all together loved this movie. There are certainly instances comic fans and movie buffs will be disappointed. Oddly enough the major let down is that such a good movie exists underneath all the rubble of bad editing.

In the end most fans only need to know one thing. This is a fairly decent launch pad for the DC Universe. Lot's of lessons to learn, but all in all a good movie I'd highly recommend seeing. My final hope is the Warner Brothers focuses more on Wonder Woman and Batman solo movies for the time being and wait for any universe expansions.
