There were a couple parts that were confusing to those I was with but after I explained my interpretation they were ready to grab a ticket and see it again. The critics prove just how out of touch they are with the bulk of movie goers. Don't make the mistake of believing this negativity, get out to the theater. I was really on the fence about the recasting of Batman, it is really hard to beat the Dark Knight trilogy. That said Affleck is great as Wayne and I love the edge he brings to Batman. I am a Superman fan through and through but I sat back thinking Batman is in beastmode! Much as also been said about Superman's lack of personality and I just don't see it. I like that he is stoic and serious about his role to the planet and the battle that ensues of being the "boyscout" vs bringing justice, Cavill is the perfect Superman in my opinion. Wonder Woman is great and I left the movie excited at seeing some stand alone endeavors.

Final comment - there is a lot of hidden gems in this movie that you might miss or may not make sense if you aren't an avid fan of the comic books. They dug deep in the story and this movie sets up Justice League about as good as we could hope for. I will see BvS again and I am pumped for Justice League!

The result is a hideous ugly monster that rivals Luther’s Doomsday. Perhaps by taking some patience and providing a standalone Batman movie, a Superman sequel with Lex Luther, and then make this movie removing the Wonder Woman & JL references this could’ve been tolerable with a shortened run time and more unfocused story. Instead, we have one of the worst comic book movies ever made. One can only hope that either the other DC Movies are great and Snyder’s merely the annoying family member we have to put up with every once and a while or that the franchise dies due to poor reception. Together with the talented cast is the strong and fast-faced storyline which is left no place without the genuine fun of watching a rare superhero movie. Indeed, this is the movie in which you can fulfill all your fantasies about a face-to-face match between two iconic heroes. Clark Joseph Kent aka Superman gets the respect and understanding he deserved. Batman is the strongest point in this fanboy dream film. Undoubtedly, Ben Affleck may become the best Batman on screen for his portrayal of the Caped Crusader here, both physically and emotionally. There is no light-hearted stuff or family-friendly plotlines.. It is all about the starting point of the gathering of DC cinematic universe. There is enough tease for other Justice League members that will make your seat hot. There is a badass but attractive Wonder Woman that you can't help falling in love with. All the action are good, especially the epic war in the final act. It will wet all the fan boys, indeed. And there is an ending that would give you goosebumps and hope, if you stick to the end. Overall a big comicbook fan, but mostly DC. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! My girlfriend, who simply followed me, and who knows nothing about Superman & Batman other than seeing TDK trilogy and MoS once, loved it also.

Not one second were we bored. The movie was gripping from beginning to end. I had read all the bad reviews before going. And all throughout the film, I tried, and I mean, I really tried, to find the flaws the critics "found" that made it deserve a 1/10. My girlfriend had no clue of the reviews. I only told her after the movie to gauge her reaction. She was in shock. She thought it was one of the best comicbook movies ever, on par with the TDKs.

Again, I'm speechless on why this bombed critically. No humor?? Well I'm sorry, this was never, nor was it ever advertised as "The Avengers 3: Enter The Goofy DC Guys", nor "Transformers 7: The Revenge of the Humans". From the start, we knew that the destruction of Metropolis in MoS was going to be the main catalyst of the darkness in the sequel. I guess nothing spells the reaction to the destruction of half of a giant city, thousands of lives lost like Robert Downey's smart wit humor. I remember we were having a laugh after 9/11, right?

Pacing issues?? Have they seen Iron Man 2 & 3? Age of Ultron? ASM? Every scene in the movie had purpose. They managed to include tons of valuable material with minimal editing issues. We both felt the flow worked as perfectly as it could. You simply had to pay attention. I know it's hard nowadays to not be spoon-fed the material in brain-dead fashion, but for the life of all things decent, try it once in a while! Keep your eyes on the screen, focus, and maybe, JUST MAYBE, you might actually understand what's going on.

Character development?? For Christ's Sake, the first 40 minutes were ALL character development. How much more do you want?? Yet another full length Batman origin solo movie, this time with slapstick comedy specially tailored for kids who see their parents murdered in front of their eyes? Because, come on, what can possibly spell more comedy than the brutal death of your parents, or a psychotic serial killer clown... I remember laughing my ass off watching Seven. Now that was a great comedy we all had fun watching!

The Justice League elements were a distraction? Uhm, wha... what?? I'm not even going to get into this. They couldn't have made a more perfect introduction. I guess they meant just like Samuel L. Jackson was a distraction in all the non-Avengers Marvel movies... oh wait, apparently, he wasn't.

Batman too violent?? WTF, again, his actions made sense IN THE MOMENT. He NEVER went into the fight TRYING to kill. The "alleged" killing, if it even actually happened, was collateral damage. Nothing he did classified as murder.

The fight scenes? The best comicbook fights ever put on screen. And please, don't mention Deadpool... Not the same universe at all. It's like comparing the Raid 2 and Star Wars... It's just not comparable.

So overall, you might think I'm a crazy fanboy, call me names and whatnot. But I give it a 10/10. In all honesty, I did not find a flaw. If you twist my arm and hold my parents hostage just to squeeze one out of me, I would say there was too much character development. But I don't see how this could possibly be a reason to trash on the movie. It's usually the biggest critical aspect of CBMs. We finally go in-depth, and it's too much. F*** me.

I pray for WB to stick with the game plan and not change a thing. If the darkness is what the critics and jaded moviegoers are criticizing the most, then it's going to get lighter going forward. Terrio even said it. The darkness is at an all time high in BvS, for a purpose. The JL movies will have a lighter mood, just because the natural progression of the established story will lead it there.

I was not the biggest fan of Snyder after Sucker Punch. But I like Man of Steel (had flaws, did not love it, but like it). However, it's inhuman to trash on the man because you simply hate his previous projects. He created a comicbook masterpiece with BvS. I give him all the praise. And I hope WB continues the work already laid out.

This is a film where all the superhero nerds will love it, while older people will probably enjoy My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 more. I was extremely blown away from the last hour of the film. One of the best hour-long fight sequence I've seen in a long time! The performances were all superb, in particular Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, and Jesse Eisenberg. The only "flaw" with this film is the first hour or so was a bit boring and dragging, just to introduce the characters of course. However, the last hour of the film is emotional, violent, entertaining, and visually stunning. If you've seen the trailers, you probably seen a major portion of this film. However, the film is still very entertaining and I was visually stunned. I think you have to see Man of Steel first in order to fully understand what is happening in this film. If you had expected Batman v Superman, than that is what you will get. Now about wonder woman - she is fine and pretty, but she was barely in this film, like around 15 minutes. Also, doomsday was okay if you've seen the trailer, that's just what he looked like. There is however a major plot twist that did feel a bit rushed, however I still enjoyed it. I hope they make a non-cash grab sequel to this film, and Henry Cavill/Ben Affleck should make another movie together. (93/100) Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, due to a lot of bad critics I thought the movie would be really bad.

Since the trailers started to come out I had a bad feeling, because I wanted to be all about Batman vs Superman, but they started to show Wonder Woman, Doomsday, Aquaman. So I was thinking, they're trying to fit a lot of stuff into the film, we just know Superman, in the film we'll have to know batman wonderwaman, and so on, I can almost bet that the movie will be first half introducing characters, then 3 minutes of fighting between Batman and Superman, and then they'll fight doomsday. It'll be a mess, I just wanted them to focus on Batman vs Superman, that's it.

Then I went and see it, expecting it to be really bad... And, honestly?, I did like it, I mean it's no Avangers film, but in the case of marvel's avangers they've got the advantage that I was talking about, we already know the characters because of their individual films. If DC had follow this same path I bet it would be better, I mean, introducing at least Batman in his own movie, and THEN, have Batman vs Superman. Moving back to the movie, the problem I had with it is, that it had some boring parts, when they started to talk boy, it was hard to focus or follow, but, when the movie got good, it REALLY got good, the action scenes and the special effects were incredible, specially on the fight between Batman and Superman we have some memorable dialogues.

Lastly, this is a personal preference, but I'm more a Batman fan, I wish he had done something on the final fight with Doomsday, I mean, we get that he doesn't have super powers, but come on, leaving it aside like that?, he could have helped too, be creative, like, he throws that kryptonite smoke bomb at doomsday and, that will get him weak for a short time, in that time he could have helped, or I don't know, helping the other distracting it, there are a lot of ways, but they choose to let him hide behind a rock...

Justice League). A lineup of actors, with Henry Cavill returning as Superman, and Ben Affleck beginning his role as Batman. A curious choice indeed for Affleck since his recent directorial debut of thrillers suggested that it might be a risk taking a backward step to acting. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), gets the introduction she needs to spark the interest in audiences in the film to come. The supporting actors, Jeremy Irons taking over from Michael Caine as Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s butler/weapon designer and Jesse Eisenberg as a paranoid Lex Luthor.

The film mostly merges the two worlds of these superheroes, Batman’s Gotham and Superman’s Metropolis, which is inarguably the most interesting aspect of Batman v Superman. The two cities are presented as being divided by a river and they are shown to be quite distinct from each other.

The opening of a film is quite a good way to show the damage caused by superhero fights, picking up from Man of Steel. The film’s director, Zack Snyder (“300”, “Man of Steel”) when lost and not sure how to move on, adds yet another monster, yet another fight, yet another explosion, yet another theme, making the film abnormally long and overpacked. However Snyder manages to apply the visual aspect such a film demands, even if he is not known for being subtle.

Music by Hans Zimmer (joined on this film by Junkie XL) thankfully makes large portions of the dialogue (Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer) inaudible at times when it’s most needed. One could worry how big that “v” in Batman v Superman is, but it will suffice to say that if you really want to see Batman and Superman in a fight, this is not the film you are expecting. It largely feels like the film had time to fill which it did quite sloppily through dream sequences and the art of adding extra explosions every now and then just for the sake of it.

Overall, a nice lineup of cast and a hugely interesting division of two cities, Metropolis and Gotham, probably stealing the spotlights from Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck themselves. A movie that will surely be extremely popular in its first week of release. Nevertheless, a movie for the sake of making the movie.

I went into this movie with the lowest of expectations after the onslaught of negative reviews nearly killing my excitement and by the end of the movie I was in awe. I loved it and my entire audience clapped through out. I am not saying it was a perfect "film". There were pacing issues at times, but all the acting, especially Affleck and Eisenberg was excellent. It may have been dark, but it was definitely fun, emotional and crowd pleasing. If you are a fan it was a dream come true at times. I am not going to turn this into a Marvel/DC thing as I think that is both childish and stupid, but I really think Marvel's success has warped some people's and critics perception of what you can do with comic movies. Marvel does a great job at what they do, but this dared to be different, serious and more adult and it should be applauded for that and not ridiculed. I see this sitting at 31% and it is absurd. I can name 20 comic movies with higher ratings that aren't even close to this movie in quality. My advice to anyone that is a fan of these characters it to ignore the critics completely and just enjoy it. It is a great movie and everyone I saw it with loved it. Expand

I thought Affleck's Batman is the superior of all. He looks like and acts like both sides of his life. The concerns people had for him are removed. Movie takes a lot of time to establish the motivations and stories behind the two titular characters. Story is rich and has a few surprises for the people who thought the trailers showed too much. And the movie ends in a way no other superhero movie hasn't.

Easily a 9/10. But since no movie is perfect and I personally love these characters very much I can stretch it to a 10/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some people have seen this film and liked it. Some people have seen it and disliked it. I’d normally say “see it for yourself and make your own opinion”... but I won’t, because I didn’t just dislike the film, I HATE it. I utterly DESPISE this film.

I hate what it did with Batman (he’s a psychotic murderer). I hate what they did with Superman (all the flaws of Man of Steel x5). I hate what they did with the Justice League. I hate Lex Luthor. I hate how useless and stupid Lois is. I hate how boring, plodding, and contrived the whole film was. I hate pretty much everything.

And I don’t want you to see this film. It’s personal and selfish, because you may like it, but I hate it so much I don’t want a single, other film in this godforsaken, dour, moronic universe and I don’t want you to spend a dime to tell Warner Bros by voting with your dollars that what they’ve done to my two favorite heroes is in any way a good thing and they should do more.

I hate this film. I hate it and the fact that I did makes me really upset, because I wanted it to be SO good and it broke my heart. I wanted so much better from my favorite heroes... so much more...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went into this movie expecting it to be as bad as Man of Steel but I ended up enjoying it much more that I originally thought. Now that's not to say that it was good, in fact, the movie was quite mediocre, not just for a superhero movie, but just in general, but I found myself gasping or sitting up in my seat several times.

The movie seems to switch from being 8-9/10 to 2-3/10, I'd see an awesome scene with Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons then have it ruined by Henry Cavill and Amy Adams making out in a bath tub (I just threw out two random scenes, I actually think the tub scene happens first, I don't remember).

The acting is good, but the scripting is terrible. The actors for the most part were convincing and played their character well, but the lines were just so fake. They all sounded like they were written for an audience and not the individual they were talking to, nobody talks the way they do to each other, that's just not realistic. Oh, and there were like two jokes and they both sucked and were in horribly inappropriate places.

Snyder seems to want to cram as much stuff into this movie as he can, some of it was good, Wonder Woman was probably the highlight of the movie, she deserved more screen time, but things like love affair between Kent and Lane seems forced and unnecessary at points.

But my biggest grievance is when Batman is five seconds away from killing Superman and he spares him because their mothers share the same name. WHAT?! You've been training from like, what a month?, forging Kryptonite grenades and even using a goddamn laser to make a Kryptonite spear and you spare him because "Martha, Martha..." **** that's the stupidest thing I've ever seen from a superhero movie, and I thought the scene in the Incredible Hulk where he's buying stretchy pants was dumb.

All in all, this movie is not bad, but it is definitely not good either, for every time I'm sitting up in my chair shaking with anticipation there is one that has me reclined and tempted to pull out my phone and read the news because that would be more interesting. See it for the same reason we see Marvel movies, we have to, minus the wit and humor.

Overall, though, Snyder did well with blending Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" with parts of the animated movie "Justice League War" and the storyline of Superman v Doomsday. At first, I was worried about the casting of Affleck as Wayne/Batman, but after seeing his performance, I was very impressed. Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Luthor was pretty good for what they were going for and I can see him becoming an even stronger character in future projects. Gal Gadot was a brilliant casting and has the potential to really deliver in the Wonder Woman role. Overall, very well done movie. Expand

Firstly, everyone should ignore all critic reviews, or reviews of any kind, watch the film and form your own opinion. You're opinion is the only thing that is relevant.

That being said, I feel that this film is getting a lot of unwarranted criticism. It's not the action romp that is most of the Marvel films. Which are all good in their own right. But DC has always been different from Marvel. Films are no different. DC, to me, has been more cryptic and character driven. This theme seems to resonate in BvS, and it works. It's the main story with an almost episodic feel with an over arching plot (setting up justice league). The reviews seem as if they're trying to directly compare it to what Marvel is doing. Which does not work as it is completely different.

My opinion? Different is great! It's a much more artistic take on a genre that some would call an over saturated market. This sentiment comes from a lot of the reviews I have read as well. With that comes the hate for Snyder either... He makes Comic Book Movies and he's great. His style is as close to a film version of reading a comic as you can get. Which is evident from all of his other projects as well.

This however is an opinion piece like all other reviews. You may like Snyder, or you may not. You might love this film, or hate it. Majority of critics all seem to hate it, but that majority of fan reviews so far seem to love it. This fan loves it.

Affleck's Batman is potentially the best to grace the silver screen, and Lex Luthor delivers with a healthy dose of unsettling brilliance. Definitely a must see. Expand

If you liked Man of Steel or Watchmen then you'll like this movie. The performances were superb, and the cinematography was great. There were some choppy cuts, but I believe that will be resolved in the 3-hour directors cut (too long for theater viewings). If you wanted 5 movies leading up to this (eg. the beginning Marvel movies) then I understand complaining that it feels rushed. But, if you, like many others would rather not wait years for a team-up movie like this, then please realize what this movie had to do to make it work, and understand the comic-centric angle Zack Snyder brought to this piece. Here's another "This is a sub-mediocre action movie with superheroes thrown in to make it seem interesting and milk the trend. Great for 13 year old edge lords. Go see if you're a latent Juggalo." Perhaps this idiot needs to go watch the English Patient some more because he has no taste. Here's another "All the plotholes and illogical pacing make this the funniest superhero movie I have ever seen." I loved it! This is one of those movies where I would dump the critics and go watch.

This film is dark. Really dark. Batman not an all moral character in this movie. He hurts people and he shoots them too, but that's the intention. The film is meant to make you question the brutality of superheroes. I know we all love the comic book and cartoon version of the Batman who can kick every bodies ass without shooting a bullet, but the reality of the film is that he just can't do that all the time. At some point he has to shoot back, and, yes, bad people will die. In his defense, Batman doesn't kill any good people. That burden is placed on Superman.

This entire movie hinges on a line that Alfred delivers, "Men become monster when they feel powerless". Batman felt powerless in the presence of Superman and is hell bend on killing him.

I must also mention that Wonder Woman is beautiful, and Ben as Batman is a much better pick than I had originally thought.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The cherry-on-the-top was the absolutely ridiculous and poor third-act, putting the nail on the coffin of what it could be a great movie.

Cavill and Gadot are serviceble. Affleck is an amazing and brutal Batman. Irons is a great and complete curve-ball to Caine's Alfred. Adams still plays the damsel-in-distress.

Eisenberg, on the other hand, brings a Joker-like interpretation of Luthor. Too over-the-top and too whiny, almost like a parody of the character itself.

His pointless yammering represents the film as a whole; it has a few good moments and plays with a few interesting ideas, but there's no there there. The real blame for this mess, though, lies on the people who made it.

The movie suffers from the excess of characters usually reserved for the third, bad film of a superhero trilogy. Did a movie about Batman vs Superman really need Lex Luthor? Probably not. Did it need a CGI wasteland with Doomsday at the center? Definitely not. And while this was a passable Wonder Woman, the forced inclusion of Superman's wife and mother, both dithering about pointlessly with cringeworthy dialogue, is unlikely to placate whatever portion of people looked at a BvS movie and thought to themselves "this needs more women". The excess of characters leaves little time for the movie's central conflict, with Batman's one-note rage coming off as hollow.

Even more time is wasted on CGI fakery (whereas the smart blockbusters, Batman movies included, go hard for real locations and practical effects), and the hallmark of lazy writing: excessive dream sequences. And for all the stakes this movie purports to have, the ham-handed introduction of the Justice League leaves little doubt in the viewer's mind that regardless of how many explosions we see, everyone will be back for the next movie. Except, possibly, the audience.

Ben, Henry, Gal, great job.

To Mr. Snyder, you the best action director of all times. So all you
nitwit, dummies and dunces who gives a rating lower than 7/10 or 75%
pass, are haters either paid to discourage the profit gain or just
plain dunce. Go watch the sun rise and shine then clowns. I am both a
marvel and DC fan. But Dawn of Justice and Man of steel were way better than any marvel movie release to date.

DC, factually speaking is and will always be better than Marvel
(including TV shows as well,DC is conquering with the likes flash,

comics/adaptation.

Go strong Dawn of Justice. Congrats to all the cast and crew. I cant

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just saw the movie. Had to write a review after seeing what the critics said. This is more of a movie for people who enjoy comics, than it is for people who enjoy how a movie and story is told. Ill get the negatives out of the way first. Yes there are issues with juggling all of the characters and the transitions from scene to scene stink. And there are also plot holes. But they dont detract from the overall movie. Other than that the movie is good. Its obviously just trying to summarize everything up quickly for the Justice league movie and to catch up to marvel. Ben affleck is probably the best on screen batman and deserves a solo film, gal gadot is great in her given time, and jessie is just ok. He gives a very strange depiction of thr villian but i believe some of his crazy can be explained im future films. The reason is he seems to know at the end that something is coming. Perhaps he had a vision like batman. All in all it doesnt deserve as much criticism as its getting. If you enjoy comics youll like it. Expand

The expectations for this film are huge, and sadly to say, it disappoints. I find it funny regarding counter-culture backlash of people saying if you don’t understand or love comicbook movies, you won’t get it. I’ve been deeply into comicbook before most of these people were born, so I’m pretty sure I get it. The problem is the film simply isn’t very good, period. There are long, empty scene, and so many shallow plot devices, it takes away so much from enjoying the film. The ending is rush and smashed together to set up Justice League. Perhaps it will be tied together in JL, but I’m not counting on it. Expand

Not sure that was enough pedigree to land him the entire DC franchise whether it be as Director or Producer, yet someone had faith in him. Unlike 300 which was a breakthrough hit, his movies were highly criticized as missing their mark with the audience. I am one to give a man a chance, and felt you could not go wrong with such a great comic book heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. As I sat watching this movie, I was shocked how antsy I was feeling as boredom was slowly seeping in. Constant screen changes between the characters was annoying and never left me feeling like I was getting a chance to just let the movie pull me in. Anticipation to see something, anything happen.was causing me to get annoyed more and more as the movie went on.

This movie was simply boring until the point in which we finally have some time of battle going on. Everything up to that point, especially Lex Luthor and his hatred never manifests itself in the story telling. We are left to have empathy towards all the feelings everyone has because we know the history. In Man of Steel, Superman destroyed Metropolis as well as Gotham, so Batman has a grudge with an Alien who acts like a self-appointed savior of Earth. Bruce Wayne/Batman is rich, so he can spend any amount of money to build his tech, weapons and protective bat suit. Superman doesn't need anything but his powers because of the Earth's gravity makes him this way. Bruce Wayne is smart and this is what has always separated him in DC comic book lore from the other heroes. He is much like Iron Man is to Marvel, except he doesn't have something engineered to keep Mr. Wayne alive. So this movie is built around the premise that Bruce needs to take down Superman. Yet, he is way too intelligent to let his emotions play him this way, but we, the audience go along this journey and never really feel Bruce's angst towards Superman no matter how hard the movie wants us to feel it. Whether you blame the director or the actors, someone has to take the blame. Take a side, Team Superman or Team Batman. Not so easy when you know that both heroes are exactly that, heroes. You can't tell us to root against the two like they are presidential candidates or sports teams. Hard to make the audience believe that when you fill the movie with so much fluff that the time we get are two combatants together it is because one of the superheroes is blackmailed to do so.

I really believe this movie could have worked if we had some Marvel humor to lighten things up from time to time instead of the ultra serious tone this movie has. There is nothing funny about this movie and that makes it one big joke. Marvel knows their audience. They let us stay to the credits role away just to get a teaser to the next movie. How many people will stay to the end of the credits for this one? Don't. There is nothing, but movie credentials and unless you need to know the key grips and the music scores, then you are wasting your time. Much as I felt in watching a boring movie that should have been the greatest superhero movie of all time. As a kid I felt that DC was the stronger brand than Marvel, but that was all shattered last night. Snyder leaves me with no confidence for his upcoming DC movies like Justice League 1 & 2. If the people at Warner Bros. wants to save their franchise, take the keys out of Snyder's hands and let someone else take the helm. Calling JJ Abrams would be the place to start.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, here is the unabridged movie description, spoilers and all. The movie starts with a flashback to Batman's parents dying, which we all already saw just a mere ten years ago in Batman Begins, or even more recently if you can stomach the terrible Fox show Gotham. Little Bruce Wayne runs away from his parents funeral and falls into a cave of bats. Then out of nowhere he starts flying with the bats. Then it cuts to black and Ben Affleck says, "that part was just a dream." Phew, close call, I almost walked out of this 3 hour movie 4 minutes in. Next it cuts to Superman blowing up Metropolis while Bruce Wayne is conveniently in the neighborhood. Bruce Wayne becomes very angry at Superman's lack of control in the field of collateral damage. He spends two years thinking about how much he doesn't like Superman, then the movie starts. The first scene in present day is the cops walking in on a Batman crime scene and talking about how much of a badass Batman is in this universe. Then Batman goes back to the Bat Cave after a night of badassery, and is greeted by an Alfred that looks five years older than him. WTF SNYDER?! How old was Alfred when he started raising the young orphan Affleck? 10?! You're creating plot holes where there don't need to be plot holes. Also, in this universe Alfred pressures Batman to have a family more than my mother after a glass of wine. "Sir, I've loaded the coordinates to your Bat Computer and set a course for the meth lab operators; also, have you met the one yet?" Bruce Wayne must be discouraged to settle down by Clark Kent and Lois Lane's over-the-top PDA throughout the movie. They act more in love than two high school band geeks at their first kegger. Few things of importance happen in the first ninety minutes of the movie. Wonder Woman says like two lines, this crippled guy vandalizes a Superman statue, and Lex Luthor creates Doomsday by mixing General Zod's corpse with his own blood (...what?). Then the moment we've all been waiting for comes and Batman and Superman duke it out in a tremendously wonderful fight that lasts about fifteen minutes. Batman is about to win the fight by stabbing Superman with a Kryptonite spear, when Lois Lane comes out of nowhere and basically says "Your moms have the same name!" Batman puts down the spear and makes up with the Man of Steel just in time to save the city from Doomsday. In her infinite wisdom, Lois Lane throws the Kryptonite spear (the one thing that can kill Doomsday) into this deep hole full of water, then is like Oh F*** we need that! Superman throws Doomsday into space, and the army (clearly never having seen Independence Day) decides the only way to kill Doomsday is with a nuke, eliminating the threat but also killing Superman in the crossfire. They launch the nuke and lo and behold Doomsday survives. Superman takes a bit longer to recover, so Batman and Wonder Woman try to fight off this colossal alien on their own. Superman comes back in time to save a drowning Lois, who tried to retrieve the Kryptonite spear she oh so naively threw away. Then Superman retrieves the spear, and is about to finish off Doomsday with it, when Lois pulls him aside and says "you can't go, I love you." LOIS. THE CITY IS F***ING EXPLODING. TONS OF PEOPLE ARE DYING, LET YOUR BOYFRIEND OUT OF YOUR SIGHT FOR 5 F***ING MINUTES. Superman kills Doomsday with the spear and Doomsday stabs him with this sharpened bone thing. The next scene is Superman's funeral. He survived being nuked in space, but clearly could not live through being stabbed. Superman's mom gives Lois an engagement ring and said "He had it delivered here so he could surprise you." BULL S***. He had it delivered to your farm in Kansas, a place Lois Lane clearly doesn't visit often, in order to surprise her, then conveniently dies so this is considered more of a beautiful moment and less of a massive f***ing plot hole. Then Batman says, I'm gonna finish what we started and Superman comes back to life. The End. Expand

By watching the movie, you can clearly see the groundwork for a great and powerful story, which ends up being squandered by trying to squeeze several movies together in order to create a single 2 1/2 hour movie. There are a number of scenes, including Doomsday, that were completely unnecessary, and most of the action sequences are saved for the third act.
That all being said, I did thoroughly enjoy this movie, even though it could've been SO MUCH more. The cast is terrific: Ben Affleck makes for what I think is the best cinematic Batman of all-time, even better than Christian Bale. Gal Gadot makes for a fierce & badass Wonder Woman, who I am now very excited to see make her standalone debut. Jesse Eisenberg was OK as Lex Luthor, although he's very awkward and jittery at times.
As a director, Zach Snyder doesn't make for the best storyteller, but he knows how to use a camera to create some powerful imagery. BvS has some amazing visual shots, and the cinematography is spot on.
The action sequences are pretty awesome (most notably the ones involving Batman), but there could've been a few more, especially in the first half of the movie.
There are a lot of themes in this movie, including the dangers of power, corruption, religion & paranoia of outsiders, and while the movie touches on philosophical ideas such as "What is a hero?" and "Should Superman even exist?", they don't have enough time to develop, which goes back to putting too much into 1 movie.
So while it isn't a GREAT movie, it's hardly a train wreck. I'm honestly baffled at how vicious the critics have been towards this movie, and I've quite a few of them go as far as to compare it to Marvel at some point in the reviews. This is not the way people should be judging the DC movies. They won't get anywhere by being an exact clone of their competition, and the darker tone of these movies makes for a good alternative to the lighter & more humorous Marvel films.
In the end, it is the fans themselves would will be the true critics of this movie. They are the people who will gladly pay to see 2 iconic heroes of myth meet for the first time on the big screen. They are the ones who have followed these characters in the comics, and they will judge how they are depicted on the big screen. And even though This fan might not have been blown away by what he saw, he was no less satisfied with the end result.

So much of the first half is needless and doesn't advance the story, with Batman not needing the additional motivation and all the questions raised by people being forgotten when the punching begins. Everything Batman does in the first 2/3rds is pretty much irrelevant. There are giant plot holes. Massive really.

You could conceivably cut the whole thing down to a sleek, concise, and driven 90-minutes.

And, hilariously, in reaction to the response to the destruction of Metropolis, they lampshade the lack of bystanders in the area of the big fight not once, but three times.

What do you expect from a superhero movie? It's not rocket science, you should definitely see some ridiculous stuff; but that doesn't mean the movie was bad. Action scenes especially, i liked it. We can divide this movie into two parts; first they portrayed the real world's hunger for a godlike superhero and in the second part which was an action salad, they fed the audience. Those parts completed each other. Yes, I saw some idiotic scenes too, but I'm telling again. This movie isn't bad in my opinion. Affleck proved himself as Batman. Can't wait to see the next movie!! If you have any love of DC Comics, go see this movie.

It is a lot of fun and for those less cynically influenced, a great superhero drama.
There were some minor pacing issues in the movie. Many dream sequences (yes multiple) seemed unnecessary except to drop some easter eggs for salivating comic fans like myself. The first half goes a bit too long and the second half feels a bit rushed. Hopefully the directors cut will address the last issue.

Affleck and Gal Gadot quickly quiet any doubts as they quickly take on the best characters in the film alongside Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Cavill and Adams are certainly serviceable as Lois and Clark. Eisenberg as Lex Luthor may be more divisive and he gradually became worse and worse as the movie went on. Some will love him and traditionalists may hate him.

The trailer did spoil a few too many things, yet, the movie still has several "WOW" moments and tear jerking scenes. A scene involving a mother's name was particularly strong for me.

This movie is NOT the somewhat brainless but fun and flashy roller coaster of a Marvel movie experience. Nor does it seek to be the ultra realistic and philosophical Nolan-verse. It falls somewhere in the middle. It does at times take itself TOO seriously, however never to a significant fault.

The imagery is excellent, particularly for fans of comic books. You'll see many scenes from iconic story lines recreated perfectly. Yet, as with many films of the Superhero Era, there is far too much dependence upon CGI at times and it can occasionally pull the audience out of the experience.

As the movie concluded, it drew standing applause from the audience- something I did not expect after disliking Man of Steel and seeing the poor critical reviews. Really. It happened. Goes to show, you never know what to expect. If you like DC Comics, go see this movie. If not, it certainly wouldn't be a waste of an afternoon.

I felt like this movie had a lot of potential in the works with its promising casting and the overall success of Man of Steel(2013). I will say that the performance from the actors was over the top. Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luther was so perfect that it felt comparable to heath ledgers performance in The Dark Knight(2008). Ben affleck played one of the best batman ever to be portrayed in cinema, Affleck showed a aging Bruce
Wayne past his prime, with a more serious and darker personality to the character, a man who doesn't care what he rest of the world thinks. Th minus of these actors astonishing performances was Gal Gadot who played the role of Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman, I felt like her entire character was so under develop that i felt no reason to like the character let alone cheer for her, now that might not of been Gadots fault since she only got to show her talent for a little bit of the screen time, but when she performed it seemed she was entirely out of it and I felt like the writers lost potential to an amazing character.

The plot to BVS was all over the place in my opinion, because I felt that the beginning of the film started out smooth, Batman was searching for Superman and Superman was searching for the Batman. Batman perused Superman because the events that took place in Man of Steel(2013), and the rest of the world debated if he was a savor or a menace. I felt like these events were the highlight in the film until they introduced Doomsday pretty much at random, and the entire fight scene seemed awkward with Batman sitting on the bench while Superman and Wonder Woman took on the beast until Superman takes the Krypton spear and somehow fly to the beast, at this point Batman weakens doomsday with a Kyrtonite gas bomb, and Superman impales Doomsday and Doomsday paling the weaken Superman and killing him for about five minutes and a easily predicted, superman was not dead, and the rest of the world no longer hates superman but they love him even though they wanted him dead in the beginning of the film. Roll credits.

In conclusion this movie did have some highlights, but not enough to cover up the rest of the movies failures. Amazing soundtrack and special effects but, the plot was too far fetched and pointless as it was boring until the last 20 minutes of the film where we get to finally see the Bat take on the God. then Doomsday shows up and his character is completely wasted in a few minute and the writers should have saved this vicious villain for another movie.I still think this movies worth watching once if you're a Dc fan, but wait till you can find it in the five dollar box at Wal Mart or rent it at red box or better yet watch The Dark Knight returns part 2 to get a true Batman vs Superman fight.

I like how the story focuses on a major criticism of "Man of Steel", which was the devastation of a large portion of the city in the final act. The public both hate and love Superman, while politicians and the media debate about his actions. Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor privately resent how powerless Superman's abilities makes them feel. It taps into Bruce's feeling of helplessness to save his parents, only this time the threat is to all of humanity. Affleck is a great Batman/Bruce Wayne.

I also enjoyed this Lex Luthor. You can see in his body language and facial twitches that he is barely able to mask his contempt for all the average people around him. I like how his theme music is the Superman theme but all warped like it was played on an out of tune piano. Wonder Woman was great too. She actually enjoys the battle in the final act as she is finally able to cut loose on a powerful foe. I really want to see the full 3 hour film as 30 minutes of story can have a massive impact.

CRITICISMS: The Batman music at times is overbearing. It sounds like booming industrial war drums. There are three jarring dream/vision sequences that make no contextual sense, and add nothing to the story. They should have been cut with the other 30 minutes of material as they just confused the audience. The film ends on a melancholy note, which seems like an odd choice as it was supposed to get us excited for a Justice League sequel.

My largest criticism out front is that the movie, which is nearly three hours in run time, felt it. Other recent superhero films are masterfully paced, making three hours feel insignificant, but Dawn of Justice seemed to drag on and on. Honestly, no other flaws stand out more than this one, and if anything hurts it at the box office, it'll be this. But I still enjoyed the film for the most part.

It's true, certain scenes in the film were cheesy. And that isn't helped by the fact that everyone seemed to be taking everything so seriously. But what I believe is really riling up the critics is that the film is basically a Frankenstein's monster, made up of four distinct plot lines following four different characters: Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman. Each one of them has their own story line, but also is forced to interact with the stories of other characters. So, this means the film spends the first two hours of the movie setting up the climax for each separate character, making it quite difficult to follow. On top of that, rather than cutting less important scenes, it leaves some rather insignificant scenes in the middle, leaving the audience to wonder, "What has this got to do with anything?" If you're paying attention, you might be able to tell what's going on. And, honestly, there are at least two, maybe three or four really good movies in the footage and script of Batman v. Superman, but throwing them all together makes the film bloated and honestly exhausting to watch.

If you are familiar with comics, it is very consistent with DC Comics and DC animated, you just have to view it as a new story line. It's nothing like a Marvel CU movie(which are usually good popcorn flicks for all the family). In fact, this film is unlike any movie I have ever seen before. Though different, it's a marvel to behold(pun intended).

The theatrical studio cut is a downer but knowing there will be director's cut blue-ray makes up for it.

I've waited 3 full years for this film toPrepare for the epic and biggest boxing match of history, featuring America's two greatest heroes now turned foes, who will clash against each other, for 6 minutes and then become best friends. I've waited 3 full years for this film to arrive, I was so excited, so hyped for this film and when it ended, well It's very sad for me to say, I was kinda disappointed... But let's start with the positive here : first, Batffleck is the best batman ever. He is raw, dark, violent, gritty and he seriously doesn't give a sh** anymore. Everything about him in the movie is A+++. Superman for his part is pretty good, Cavill did a good job, a better one than in MoS in my opinion, he delivers as you can expect and the fight between him and the bat (the only one) is incredible, it literally is fanboy fap material. Alfred is also very good and badass, as well as Perry and Lois Lane is also decent. Now for the negative part : it is not Batman v Superman, let's be honest its a trailer for Justice League. There is no actual plot or mission or quest in the movie, its pretty much random scenes involving short fragment of stories that would deserve a whole 2 hours film for themselves. The movie is very incoherent and discombobulated, it doesn't feel like a whole story in which you get involved. Its just random clips that doesn't really tie in together. For the character of Lex Luthor, he is not very good, he is exactly what you saw in the trailer but for nearly 3 hours... And the ending is... okay I guess? I mean it's a big CGI action fest with a big CGI thing that doesn't look and act anything like the real Doomsday... To conclude, the movie is the second trailer. What you saw in there and you thought would represent the film, you were 100% right. It's not necessarily bad, Batman did look phenomenal in it, as well as superman, the fight between them was incredible and I like me some good ol' CGI epic action from time to time. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A spectacular epic journey into the emerging world of DC Comics! Great special effects and acting. Although this movie was great it did have it's flaws but it wasn't in the story but the editing and pacing. It started off really good in both story and pacing, then the pace slowed down and the stories and editing got erratic, and then it picked up and went all out action! I have always been a fan of Zach Snyder but this time his use of colorless cameras and erratic editing really ruined what could have been both a fan's and critic's masterpiece. Anyone who gives this movie a zero or one is just a DC hater and not a real film fan. Ben Affleck is the Batman we have been waiting for and Gal Gadot was great as Wonder Woman. This was the perfect set up for the Justice League and the DCEU. The way the movie introduced Aqua-man, the Flash, and Cyborg was genius and have me wanting more, luckily Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman will give us a chance to see this new DCEU without being under Zach Snyder's directing. Here's hoping Snyder really takes his criticisms to heart (not all of them are legit but some are) and really does something to improve his films. I know these films are supposed to be dark and gloomy but enough with the special lenses and dull picture. WHy can't we have a nice crisp but dark tone for these types of movies? The battles between Batman and Superman and between Doomsday and the Trinity was some of the best action in any movies I've seen, worth the price of admission. You just have to slog through the middle 45 minutes or so to get from the beginning to that point. People compare these movies to Marvel but that is not a fair comparison. DC has the guts to take their characters to places that Marvel won't dare to go. Sure it hurts in the box office, but there has to be a middle ground to make it work and I am not sure if Zach Snyder is the man to do it. Overall a very good movie, both is story and action. I give it a nine ouf of 10 because the action scenes, acting, and overall story outweigh the bad editing and color problems. I suggest someone go see it twice to really enjoy what could have been the greatest superhero movie of all time! Maybe the Blu-ray edition will correct some of these problems, probably not but I can still wish. Expand

So I'll get right to it. Yes, this film has some issues. Do I think they're significant ones? No. Is it better than the Nolan Batman movies, no. Is it dark and brooding? Yes. Is it totally humorless? No.

The lack of humor has been mentioned by virtually every reviewer who holds a negative view of the movie. Its an unfair accusation - firstly DC movies are always a bit less light-hearted than those of a Marvel variety. Secondly - there are genuine moments of humor which the whole screening I was at laughed at. Even one from the Dark Knight himself having come to the aid of a damsel in distress.

Affleck is a fantastic Batman - physically he's the best fit to date. As Bruce Wayne he's suitably playboy-ish when needed. This is not a young Batman who is still naive and full of hope that he can change Gotham. He' s quite obviously scarred by years of action, questioning what good he's actually achieved.

Cavill is again a good fit for Superman - a lot of the earlier parts of the movie do focus on Batman, but the Man of Steel is not ignored.

There are multiple dream scenes - and they're one of the weaker aspects of the movie for me. They do take you away from the moment, and one or two are superfluous. Removing some of these would have resulted is a lot less negativity from the harsher critics, but they're not enough to ruin the movie for me.

This movie quite obviously acts as a set up for the Justice League universe - so we get to see Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman for the first time. Shes perfectly good at whats required of her in this - I wouldn't go so far as to say shes a scene-stealer by any means though. The introduction to some of the other meta humans who will make up the JL was fine - it fitted into one of the story threads, and was pretty brief.

Another complaint leveled at the movie is the length of time it takes for Batman and Superman to get to fight each other Its a baffling complaint - akin to complaining about the shark not being seen earlier in Jaws. Its meant to be left until near the end, and its a pretty brutal fight. If you are a fan of The Dark Knight Returns, I think you'll be pretty satisfied by it.

The Doomsday fight is not as effective in my opinion, mainly due to some CGI overload. The problem is though - with Supermans powers, its hard to find someone to fight him who can provide a challenge, and the majority of his enemies are going to have to be done in CGI. A few less blasts of light might have helped though.

Overall, I thought the movie served to open us up to not only the JL movie, but the standalone Batman and Wonder Woman movies. I really liked it, without loving it. If you watched the trailer and didn't like what you saw, you won't enjoy this, so stay at home.

However, all super hero movies need hope in some form. After all that is what super hero movies are about right? Hope against all odds, determination in the face of evil, and of course the good of mankind conquering the evil. Well BvS lacks all of these. Instead it is a heavy handed, melodramatic, depressing film. You will not leave in a good mood
The good
- Awesome action sequences. Epic in scale and shot very well.
-Ben Aflek NAILED the batman role, more so than any other batman I have seen
-The dark setting and overall "bad mood" of the movie makes for something that differs from the typical super hero experience
-Wonder Woman is great- arguably the best part
-Good premise and certainly pulled off well enough

The bad
-Too dark for most viewers. BvS is relentless in its onslaught of hopelessness, destruction, and cruelty. The whole movie is one dark cloud, and just when you think the sun will shine through- it gets darker.
-Superman (Henry Cavil) tries to bring superman to life but the character feels lifeless and boring
-Not enough action
-In between the action is emotionally heavy scenes pushing motivations along at a feverish pace. The story and motivations do not unfold naturally, instead they seemed to be pushed into the final places for the big third act
-Jesse Eisenberg really tries hard to be a good Lex Luther. Almost seemed to resemble the craziness of Heath Ledger's Joker. However, the writing failed him. Lex in this film is a crazy unhinged sociopath and not a brilliant criminal mastermind. He never gives us a threatening vibe. Instead he just seems like a crazy person with weird motivations. There isn't a strong reason behind his actions, what he does is so out of place it can be a bit jarring. Overall Disappointing.

Final verdict: BvS is too well made to be a total train wreck. It boasts strong action sequences, some great characters, and a good overall premise. However it's dark and heavy handed nature pushes characters along unnaturally and dampens the mood on what is otherwise a thrilling spectacle of a film. 7/10

Ben Affleck really steals the show not as Batman but as Bruce Wayne is when he is at his best.
The ending is strong and i left easily thinking i would go to see the next DC movie.
I actually found the critic score kind of harsh seeing as they gave Iron Man 3 a 62 and Deadpool only a 65 showing that they really cannot be trusted with superhero movies.

No scene transitions, incoherent story telling. But that's cool cause it's over compensated by incredible looking scenes and well performed acting. Yes the movie may be too dark for wide audiences.

But guess what? So is D.C comics. It's Dark, it's impressive, it's big and doesn't need to "justify" itself. And so is BvS.

IMO, Ben Affleck is a perfect fit as Batman. (yes, better than Bale). Wonder Woman is intriguing as she should be.

Do not Believe the Critics. Go see this movie. Whatever you read about this movie before its release is false.

I would gave it an "8" but went for a 10 to compensate for incorrect and false reviews.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie needs to be seen as a stepping stone to the DC universe that they are just starting to build, in order to properly see it in its full scope. It's not easy setting up future installments while maintaining focus on the original script, and to non-comic fans some of these subplots might come a bit left sided. But to those who know what's coming and what this movie is trying to build every one of those hints where really exciting.
The tone of the movie is what's to be expected from a Snyder movie, it's a style that doesn't appeal to many but it fits the DC comics tone perfectly. Granted, the editing could have seen more work to give the movie a more concise feel, and trying to encapsulate so many famous comic book story arcs into just one movie might not have been the best idea.
But overall there's not a critic in the world that can tell me this is a bad movie that doesn't deserve watching or any praise. Ben Affleck is the perfect rendition of Miller's TDKR's vision of a seasoned, brutal Batman, and most viewers are so shocked by his manslaughter they miss the whole character development. Jeremy Iron's brilliant performance of Alfred clearly shows us he's become cruel, the appearance of Superman drives him to become even more extreme and by the end of the movie Superman's sacrifice inspires him to do something bigger and better.
Gal Gadot simply stole the show, commanding every scene she was in, which was not an easy task considering Ben's performance. All the action scenes were superb, and I may be biased because seeing the Trinity on movie was something I'd never expect to see in my lifetime, but I was at the edge of my seat during both major fight scenes in the movie.

I'll be seeing it again tomorrow for sure, and maybe even a third time a week from now. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, can't wait for Justice League and the expanding of the DCCU.

With a new threat arising, it's up to Superman and Batman to set aside their differences and stop the destruction of the world, their home. With a new cast of heroes and villains joining the universe that was setup brilliantly in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman cranks it up to 11, and as enjoyable as it may be, if falters along the way.

Dawn of Justice sees a new Bruce Wayne / Batman introduced for this universe, and i'm happy to say Ben Affleck nails this role as an older, more aggressive vigilante. His side of the story is well developed, there's a solid foundation on why he doesn't trust Superman and how he goes about planning his downfall. It may take a solo film to show how he became this way, but for now Affleck may be the best Batman yet. The new Alfred in Jeremy Irons and the returning Laurence Fishburn as Perry White are the older, wiser characters that provide much needed words of advice for our heroes. Superman himself Henry Cavill has a slightly lesser time of progressing his character this time round, and actually looks rather stoic in some key scenes. Yet him and Amy Adams' Lois Lane are the real heart of this story, and the closing scenes may get you a bit teary eyed. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is very good, even though she only has a dozen lines in the whole film. To see her in action during the last act is probably the best vindication for her casting. The inclusion of minor roles for Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy give the sense of a more realised Metropolis. And finally there is Lex Luthor, an eccentric and manic take on the famous villain played by Jesse Eisenberg. This performance will either rub you the wrong way or you won't mind it much. In my opinion it works, with all his ticks and dark turns. Although different from previous incarnations, he embodies the qualities of Luthor, but only just.

The plot and subplots are engaging but uneven in presentation, so there's a lot of potential that feels squandered. For a film titled Batman v Superman, we never really see the two of them at odds enough. The motivation for them to fight is more down to misunderstanding. The introduction (or tease) of other Justice League members during one scene in particular, although interesting, felt rushed. In fact the film just tries to include too many ideas from sources like The Dark Knight Returns, Red Son and another that surprised me, which was my big worry going in. And despite all that, without doubt the most geeky, fanboy moment was the Knightmare Batman scene, weird and bizarre in all it's glory, a huge tease for what's to come in the franchise.

The film has a more comic book style than most, it never drags and gets to the point quickly, moving like a breeze. Yet annoyingly the structure of certain scenes felt jarring, like it's about to reach greatness but then diverts to subplots that are either uninteresting or take too long to resolve. The last act is the biggest victim of this.

For whatever problems the film has, I feel it's dark and grim tone is not one of them.. The DC comics have always been known for their psychological and political themes, so i'm fully on board with the direction taken for this new universe. There are moments of humour from Perry White, Alfred and others several times throughout the film to break up the tension, so any accusations of this being joyless are just plain false. Definitely not the 'wink wink at the audience' kind of jokes that some comic book films offer, but enough to make these characters memorable. In saying that, there are moments of horror and brutality that may be too much for younger children.

The action scenes, when they finally arrive, are superbly shot. Batman's hand to hand combat against thugs is fast and fierce, while his showdown with Superman is the spectacle you would expect. The batmobile and batwing make appearances, they look and sound as frightening as ever. The final battle is given the 'everything including the kitchen sink' treatment, an explosion of CGI that some will love and others hate.

Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL once again have produced a fantastic score to accompany this film. The standout tracks for me are the epic 'Their War Here' and the emotional 'Men Are Still Good'. And of course the Wonder Woman theme 'Is She With You' is ideal for the Amazonian heroine's grand appearance. Oddly, there are scenes where the music becomes intruding and loud when a more subtle approach was required.

As much as i loved watching these iconic characters finally on screen together, i feel it's a step back from the more focused Man of Steel. Wether it's the direction under Zack Snyder or the writing by Chris Terrio, Warner Bros need to make changes to hit a home run next time round. The critics have made their feelings known, but Batman v Superman feels like one for the fans.

Good effects with little else going for it. Somehow, Afleck is the strongest character in the movie - that right there should tell you something. Wait for the Blu-Ray to hit the bargain bin.

Every appearance of Batman is awesome and the BEST cinematic-take on Batman so far in my opinion, brutal, calculating, excellent moves and use of gadgets.
Affleck is a great Bruce and even a better Batman. Henry Cavill is great again, a thoughtful and sometimes kind of cocky Superman.
The final fight is great and seeing the Trinity fight together against
Doomsday is superb and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time...
totally worth it. The JL cameos are great too, not too much, not too
little. In short, I definitely enjoyed the movie and I'm excited for

I absolutely loved this movie. Dark, complex, well written, well acted, with incredible special effects. It looked at the real world repercussions of Superman's existence, and balanced that and the conflict between the two title characters perfectly while hinting at the introduction of future DC cinematic universe films.

Marvel do the fun, lighthearted superhero film very well, but I'm glad DC have chosen to go in a much darker direction. There's real pain and real danger on show here, and throughout the final fight between the Trinity and the main villain the viewer is acutely aware that the heroes are outmatched, and may not prevail. The MCU rarely demonstrates that level of tension, except maybe for the excellent The Winter Soldier, and (although TV rather than cinema) the almost as good Daredevil Season 1.

Cavill plays a perfect Superman. The film perfectly portrays his god in mortal form role in the beginning, although his characterisation of Clark Kent, and in particular his reasons for focusing on the Bat vigilante of Gotham in the midst of Congressional hearings into Superman's activities, is not well fleshed out.

Affleck's Batman, is, quite simply, a beast. A terrifying, hulking bat-weapon of a man who hands out savage beatings to all comers on a democratic basis. This is combined very well with his portrayal of Bruce Wayne. Older, wiser, and more cynical than the Batman we've seen in the past. More willing to believe the worst of people, and far more willing to go to extremes in the pursuit of his goals. The sheer brutality of his combat techniques may raise a few eyebrows, especially among fans who are used to a Batman who only has "one rule", but it is believable in the context of this older, darker anti-hero.

Given the ending I cannot wait for the next wave of DC films. Their cinematic universe may be newer than Marvel's, but it looks very promising indeed.

Thankfully, I know 90% of us have learnt to ignore these idiots and go and enjoy the movie for being a comic book readers dream come true, and it absolutely fulfils that requirement in spades, so much so, you will leave the movie theatre wondering what the hell these critics mad ravings were all about.
Batman vs Superman is not a masterpiece, but it does tick all the right boxes, the film centres on how some might feel about Superman being a figure of what we don't know and the fear of that unknown, this is Bruce Wayne's focal point, why he has misgivings of the Man of Steel, while Superman feels the likes of Bruce Wayne is adding fuel to a fire of mistrust and hatred of him, just because he is different, this clearly is a reflection of many aspects of our world today.
It's true that Eisenberg is a poor choice for Luthor, he is more Heath Ledger joker psychotic than a highly intelligent adversary, however, he is behind much of what Batman is lead to believe about Superman, carefully manipulating the situation to distract them both from what he is really up to, and it takes Lois Lane's investigations to uncover it all, which in turn forces Luthor's hand in getting Batman to take down Superman.
It's compelling stuff and doesn't suffer from Snyder moving all over the place with set pieces as he did with Man of Steel, I would agree that the manipulation of both Batman and Superman is far too easy, and you don't end up thinking it's going to end badly or start to worry, it does lack that sense of cleverness that could've had made the movie more excitable, but this isn't a spy story or a plot twister, we came to see a CGI fest of Batman taking on Superman, and yes, while brief, we get that and it does deliver.
At the end of the day, there will be Marvel comic book fans coming and writing negative reviews simply because it's DC, and there will be those critics more accustomed to praising anything attached to an Oscar and really have zero interest in comic book movies anyway, and then those critics so incredibly lazy that they have really paid no attention to the movie or have just not received their customary pay to endorse a movie (which by the looks of the reviews is many)....and then you have the true fans, the one's who just want to see Batman and Superman on the big screen in a pretty damn good movie with excellent visuals, good characterisation (everyone apart from Eisenberg performs admirably) and a story that offers drama, intrigue and a blockbuster finale to lead onto bigger things.
As I said, we've grown accustomed to critics getting it horrendously wrong time and again and being completely out of touch with the man on the street, they think they are supremely clever wordsmiths, but in truth they come across as bitter naysayers of anything comic book related.
So if the thought had crossed you mind to listen to the critics, it's your loss, sure you will see it on blu ray or DVD, but you might just feel a tinge of regret for not seeing it on the big screen because for one second you bought into the rantings an overpaid, pretentious, fat and bored hack as we know so many of these critics really are....I for one, am absolutely glad I did not, and I will be helping myself to another helping of Batman vs Superman in the coming days.

Wonderwoman is great and as a female hero is also...awesome

What I dislike about this movie is the plot line. It's not that it has plot holes, it's that it is heavily condensed. It feels like DC or whoever is in charge is forcing script writers to jump the gun on "project justice league". Really, the amount of plot lines makes the viewer feel less attached to characters than they should be.

With that said, I think the movie is 8 out of 10 or 9 out of 10 depending on whom I talk to.

Full of drama and grit, the movies tone is dark and unforgiving. Everything I want from a superhero film, the conflicts and struggles of having such great power but also being in a world of darkness and fragility. Any concerns of Ben Affleck playing batman are gone immediately, he absolutely nailed the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman being older, jaded, and battle hardened. Cavil's superman is so perfect I really can't imagine any other actor playing that role. Jessie Eisenberg's Lex was immature, spoiled, and perfectly evil. Combine these characters with the epic and beautiful cinematography of Zack Snyder and trow in the genius of Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL and we have one of the greatest superhero films of all time. I know many critics are comparing the DC films to the Marvel collection of films, complaining that Batman v Superman is missing the fun and light side of hero films, but thats just it DC comics are dark, jaded, conflicted. I feel that if DC followed in the same recipe and tone as marvel, the critics would complain of them copying each other. DC have made their own universe and it pulls no punches! The actors did the best they could with what zack gave them, and some in particular especially ben affleck shined like the moon on a clear night, he gave us the definitive and literally the most badass version of batman that we have ever seen, so was this movie perfect? God no, but the prospect for the future and the potential of this universe to turn into something amazing is what really excites me and is why this movie deserves a 10/10.
