This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some people have seen this film and liked it. Some people have seen it and disliked it. I’d normally say “see it for yourself and make your own opinion”... but I won’t, because I didn’t just dislike the film, I HATE it. I utterly DESPISE this film.

I hate what it did with Batman (he’s a psychotic murderer). I hate what they did with Superman (all the flaws of Man of Steel x5). I hate what they did with the Justice League. I hate Lex Luthor. I hate how useless and stupid Lois is. I hate how boring, plodding, and contrived the whole film was. I hate pretty much everything.

And I don’t want you to see this film. It’s personal and selfish, because you may like it, but I hate it so much I don’t want a single, other film in this godforsaken, dour, moronic universe and I don’t want you to spend a dime to tell Warner Bros by voting with your dollars that what they’ve done to my two favorite heroes is in any way a good thing and they should do more.

I hate this film. I hate it and the fact that I did makes me really upset, because I wanted it to be SO good and it broke my heart. I wanted so much better from my favorite heroes... so much more...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice boasts impressive visuals and well orchestrated action sequences, but disappoints with a couple of poor villains and a plot that is incoherent and illogical.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (as in its title) is so misleading even changing the v to and makes it even more misleading. How misleading is it? Well, you got the fact that the trailers spoiled the entire movie before the movie even gets released to theaters. Four new DC characters entered the fight in the DC Extended Universe... and they are: Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, and Cyborg. Why even call it Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice when you have so many DC characters and we all know another threat's going to interrupt the fight of a lifetime? If anything, I'd call it Dawn of Justice because it makes a better title than the actual title itself. Please save your money. We don't want you to end up knowing its goofs before giving it either a negative or a mixed. Everyone loves two main characters fighting each other... (Remember Freddy vs. Jason?)... and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice pretty much have its fans roaring back when the critics and I have already found out its mistakes before its theatrical release.

SPOILERS: No one wins.

I had such high hopes for the movie and the DCU especially since I really like Cavill and Affleck in this, but I fear as long as Snyder and that hack Goyer are still involved in the Universe it's going to be perpetually mediocre. That is a true shame because there was so much potential for these movies to have been great. Expand

That being said I think this movie is very good.To start with Ben Affleck,I was obviously very skeptical about his role as Batman because he is a good actor but I didn't think he could have pulled it off,I mean it's a Batman role it's not some silly character like I don't know Hawkeye (shots fired). You have to play Batman great because he has a HUGE fanbase! It was a very difficult task for Ben especially after AMAZING Christian Bale performance in a classic Batman trilogy that saved the character(THANK YOU CHRISTOPHER NOLAN).In my opinion,I think Ben is comfortably FOR NOW,the second best Batman on screen OF ALL TIME (slightly behind Bale),he did an amazing job,the acting, emotions he was a great Bruce also and I am very very pleased with his performance. His fighting in this movie is freaking FABOULOUS,AMAZING,FANTASTIC etc.etc.You can see how they have taken fighting styles from Batman Arkham games and put it in the movie,WAY BETTER FIGHTING THAN IN NOLAN MOVIES! Henry Cavill...he was good, but I think the NEW DIRECTOR of upcoming Superman,or Justice League movies should really show more vulnerable Superman,IT IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE HIM WAY VULNERABLE ,he is not a perfect man,I think they should put some kind of dream sequences where Superman is struggling to bear with his destructed homeland and give us something about Superman to make us feel really sorry for him,to humiliate him in huge way possible and to probably make him feel like a dirt that he can't find a way to continue living.Gal Gadot is beautiful and she did a good job on Wonder Woman, she is a perfect pick IMO.It was probably kinda awkward seeing her fighting with Doomsday at the end of the movie I think she was slightly out of place but maybe it's just me.Anyways she got a decent amount of screen time I guess.Jesse Eisenberg did a good job too.I guess it was maybe awkward of seeing him portrait Lex who is a deranged mastermind but it maybe felt like a Lex Luthor in a puberty crisis.Maybe they should have went with a mature actor but I guess they went on some direction we see Lex as a younger guy which is ok.Amy Addams was nice as always she is a great actress! Overall if I had to give some kind of realistic rating for this movie I would give it 7/10 but here I will give it a higher rating because of Marvel fanboys who will blast this movie. It's a very nice movie,it's not something that will blow your minds off and like OMG THIS IS BEST MOVIE EVER but it's definitely NOT some piece of trash these so called "professional" movie critics say it is.Saying it's a dull movie is false, saying it's not FUN,yes they said it's NOT FUN is even more false.I guess nowadays movies must have so many jokes and funny moments to get "approved" mark! You know, not every single movie has to be fun ,a movie that you can watch with your family all smiling and eating lunch while watching it.There are movies that are quality but with darker theme.I have never watched a movie more than once in cinema but I think I will see this one more time or twice just to flip the finger to movie critics. There's major, major plot hole during the end battle that pretty much sealed it for me. Wanted to like this but can't. We had to go see another movie just after this to remove the aftertaste. Other reviewers have said its worse than Batman and Robin, but lets be realistic...nothing is worse than that movie. But, clearly, I don't think Zack Snyder has ever seen a Batman movie, comic, or animated film before, he clearly doesn't know the character. Expand

Eisenbergs Luthor was over the top, not menacing and comedic. He shouldn't try to obtain Heath Ledgers laurels. The film is very bitty and incoherent in areas, there is hardly a conversation between Batman & Superman, no character development. Wonder womans introduction is so, so, there is a possible hint of the development in her character in the next movie.Fight scenes are amazing, but why the naked bath scence, not interested. Lots of inconsistencies such as how did Lois Lane know what Superman was saying to Batman, when she was in the next room. Will be looking forward to the stand alone Batman and to the Justice league films . Expand

doomsday was a very weird villain ( i gues i can call it) still ben Affleck is f*cking GREAT as Batman, again henry cavil is also realy good as superman, just as gal gadot as wonderwoman. The fight between batman and superman is great even though is does not make a lot of sense. ( why is batman over there, at that time?) at times the movie is little bit messy. The action sequences and cinematography is realy good. overall this movie is OK.

Disclaimer: I'm a Batman fan, I like Superman. I was disappointed by Man of Steel but love the Nolan trilogy (I don't expect this to be anything like Nolan).

What this movie does right:
Great cinematography, sets the mood well
Not too much time spent on Batman's backstory, which would be a drag to most viewers. Instead he's fully formed at this point. I prefer it this way.
Batfleck is fine. He won't blow you away but he does a solid job
The action is a spectacle to behold
The Batman vs Superman fight isn't dumb

Now to the reason why this movie was a disappointment:
1. Pacing: Awful, there are parts that drag, parts that overwhelming. At one point you're wishing they just fight, so the plot actually advances
2. "The final boss": Shoehorned in, you probably know who through the trailers.
3. Writing: MELODRAMA GALORE. Some scenes just seem insulting to the viewer, they're melodramatic despite you knowing that the melodrama is pointless. The Lois and Clarke drama just isn't interesting.
4. Lex Luthor sucks. This is a personal opinion, so ignore it if you will.
5. Dream sequences. I know what they mean because I'm a fan of the medium, I know it's foreshadowing, but it seems out of place for most viewers, and doesn't seem to relevant to the plot. It provides much needed action, but that's a failure of the pacing rather than the strength of the sequences.
6. Batman's no killing rule. Most people see this as **** even in the Nolan films. Batman is a thug, and he beats on villains to the point that they might actually die. But in BvS it seems like a lot of scenes have Batman definitely killing (not the dream sequences, the Batmobile scenes). I don't mind if he kills, as long as it's explained or addressed. It just feels out of character and due to poor writing rather than a pivotal change in character.

In summary: It seems like everyone is trying really hard to make a good movie. It had potential to be a lot more, but it's flaws are fatal. Bad pacing and bad writing (some of it is good, but the bad parts stick out a lot more) really kill it for me. It isn't as fun as Marvel movies and it isn't as deep as the Nolan films (or even Watchmen). I wouldn't recommend the movie, but let's be honest, you're gonna see it anyway.

Seemingly learning nothing from the failures of Sam Raimi's third Spiderman outing it tries desperately to introduce so many characters, including this latest version of Batman, that in the end you won't have much interest in any of them. Jumping from scene to scene with seemingly little thought for coherence you probably won't care much about the plot either and Batman's unbridled anger towards Superman never really feels earned at any point.

On the casting side Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonderwoman) all play their characters well enough but Jesse Eisenberg is seriously miscast as Lex Luthor. Everything he does feels forced and he simply lacks the screen presence to make his character seem as dangerous and the movie wants you to think he is.

I was convinced by my brother to go to the cinema with him and watch this but I can't say I'd have been missing much if I'd just stayed at home.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Do not ignore the reviews, they are generally correct. Batman vs Superman is not good, it's not even Ok.

It's an hour too long, poorly cast, poorly written and has one of the worst directors around at the helm.

It's a jumbled mess that never really gets going, then tries to briefly then ends. As in nearly all his movies Snyder uses the dream sequence for both Kent and Batman, both offer nothing and the Batman one borders on idiotic.

The support cast are either dreadful, I'm looking at you Adams, Eisenberg and Fishburne or under utilised like Gadot and Irons. Michael Shannon has a perfect role for his ability mind you and don't even start me on Doomsday, dear me.

The one bright light is the one the fan boys lost the plot over and that is Affleck as Wayne/Batman, it's probably too early in my opinion to reboot Batman and the future standalone movie will also have the Dark Knight Trilogy hanging over it. As Wayne Affleck doesn't have the charisma of Keaton or the confidence borderline arrogance of Bale but he is still more than capable, as in this movie he is driven by something different than the pervious Batmen, he is purely out for revenge. His Batman I think struggles slightly, both suits are underwhelming and when it comes to fighting he is almost too powerful against mere mortals. The Batmobile and Batwing are excellent and work well with the style of the movie, the one thing that gets me is the movies continue to ignore that Batman is the worlds greatest detective this in itself needs to be introduced in the reboot. The thing is Affleck is a better actor than given credit for and his hatred is based on a couple of things, getting involved in projects for friends that were more than a little substandard and being involved with a pop star. I have a lot of faith in the movie being written and directed by him.

The biggest problem with this movie other than it's jumbles pacing and unnecessary scenes is the premise. I am not quite sure Superman has a place anymore, when he first came on the scene bullets couldn't hurt him, but now in modern times bullets are a lot bigger and a lot faster and so are ballistic nuclear warheads that could destroy his planet but not him (really) then there is the possibility that a mortal could defeat him and I can't buy into it.

Anyway stay away from this if you have doubts they will probably be realised, if you didn't like Man of Steel you won't like this even though thankfully there is no trips to Krypton (what a disaster they were) I have given this a 4/10 I took 1 off immediately because Snyder was involved but added 1 because of Affleck.

I expect few will agree with me, as this is a funny movie in that it totally polarises its audience very few think it was ok it's the marmite of the last 12 months cinema.

While I am a massive Batman fan and will always watch anything he is in, Marvel are winning the battle at the moment even if they are overloading us.

I actually enjoyed the movie at the start but about 30 minutes in, the movie began to derail... fast. I got confused so MANY times during this movie that I just loaded up the wiki plot page on my phone so I could understand as I watched. it was that bad. The movie did a bad job of setting up scenes in such a way that when things happen, they make sense. I mean, the setup for the White House hearing was so bad it made the entire scene almost silly to watch. Also, after the blast, the scenes skipped to a totally different subject. I mean, after a blast, it's quite NORMAL and EXPECTED for peole to, you know, talk about it. Damn. So many plot-holes for a movie this long, it's ridiculous. There were a couple of things that bothered me about this movie: If Superman could hear Louis Lane falling or trapped underwater, why couldn't he hear his own mother wherever she was kept. Makes absolutely no sense. Also, the whole Batman vs Superman was just weak and felt so inconsequential for a movie called Batman vs Superman. You can tell that was just a marketing ploy. Shameful.

Now to the final mail in the coffin that is this waste of time called a movie: Jesse Eisenberg. this dude literally acts the same in ALL his movies. **** crazy in a very cringing way (I mean Heath Ledger's Joker was **** crazy, but you at least enjoyed watching him). I DESPISED EVERY single scene with Jesse in it. For such a big budget movie, it'd make more sense to cast someone with a new and fresh interpretation of such a vital character. Jesse should be removed and replaced ASAP, as he brings the movie down. So should whoever decided to cast him.

Overall, a terrible movie and a big waste of potential. Not every superhero movie has to be dark and brooding. If you're not Nolan, don't bother copying him.

FFFFFUUUUCCCKKK!!! I really wanted to like this one, I really did.

What follows are some scattershot thoughts of mine on the movie:

This is a giant mess of a movie that clunks it's way to the finish line. Zack Snyder lays everything on so thick and hard, there is no lightness... and I'm not talking about humour or anything like that I mean there is no soft touch, no finesse it's all heavy handed.

This movie is slow to a point and then **** finally goes down within the last 50 minutes of the movie and when it does it was too much, just like in Man of Steel we have a big "epic" display of destruction and it wore me down.

There were some cool bits scattered throughout which there would want to be in a two and a half hour movie.

I liked Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and as the Batman-esque vigilante he plays for most of the movie. He's not really Batman until close to the end of the film, through no fault of Affleck's.

Jesse Eisenberg is good as Lex Luthor and he has some great moments in the movie... But it feels like, to me, that he auditioned for the part of the Joker, didn't get it and decided that he was going to be Joker anyway even though he was cast as Luthor. That's just what I think -- Still love Jesse Eisenberg though.

Gal Gadot makes for a good Wonder Woman and she could really shine in a Justice League movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is just one big tease for the Justice League, which I would love to see. I still think there is a little glimmer of hope that it could be good, this movie hasn't extinguished that hope in me, just dimmed it a little.

They're pushing too hard for a DC shared universe. They should've taken more time with it, eased us into it. But they didn't!

DC, Warner Bros. or whoever. Stop letting Zack Snyder make these movies! DO NOT under any circumstances let him TOUCH the Justice League. That is all.

By the way: I don't like this movie. Just stating that for the record in case it wasn't clear.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. By no means is this a great film; it's disjointed, occasionally sluggish (mainly the second act), overcrowded, and tries too hard to be taken seriously as a "drama." Superman, as a character, is completely one-dimensional -- he simply stands there throughout most of the movie and exists solely to rush the story along, lest Lois Lane stumbles into a "damsel in distress" situation which requires his savior presence. Putting Lois Lane into that "damsel" role seems like an odd regression, especially after "Man of Steel" seemed to try to project her as a strong, capable character.

When it comes to handling Batman, the film flings straight into a wall. It's like the screenwriters glanced at the Internet's stereotypical interpretations of him and cranked them to the extreme. Batman is neither admirable nor a person to root for in this film; instead, he's murderous and perpetually gloomy. He's clearly broken, which could've been thematically rich, but this potential is squandered to make room for the rest of the film. If the movie gave us two sympathetic figures in Batman and Superman to pick a side with, it would've been very compelling. It's a shame that that didn't happen.

Lex Luthor "Jr." is a ridiculous Joker/Silicon Valley hybrid, which is actually sort of entertaining. Unfortunately, his motivations make zero sense, and we're expected to run with it because he's "crazy." Once again, a potentially interesting character is wasted.

The dialogue ranges from over-expository to pseudo-philosophical, and there are a few especially cringe-worthy lines. Most of the characters, as aforementioned, are paper-thin and are simply there to guide the film to the fight sequence we all came to see. Speaking of which, the main fight between Batman and Superman lasts roughly five minutes, and in the most mind-boggling shift ever, immediately results in their friendship upon discovering their mothers share the same name. Couple this with the bloated Doomsday climax and it is painfully evident that nobody knew how to end this movie. The final scenes try to add a surge of emotion, but the stakes feel false so it rings hollow. I also can't go on without mentioning the eye-roll-inducing dream sequence with the Flash... it was very, very poorly done.

The tone of the film is very joyless, which would be fine if it could've actually developed its "do we need Superman?" questions beyond "do we need Superman?" and into something thought-provoking. The movie feels like "Iron Man 2" in the sense that it's a universe-builder/advertisement-for-something-bigger rather than its own organic story, which is very disappointing, as I definitely believe a Batman vs. Superman story could have something powerful to say.

As I've been crapping on the movie for the past while, let's move on to the good: the cinematography is well done, and Zack Snyder has an eye for making a film look like a comic book; there are a few shots that were genuinely striking. The action sequences are entertaining, and the fight choreography in one Batman-led scene is impressive and a notch above the Nolan trilogy. Wonder Woman kicked ass and had great presence, and I'd be lying if I said a shot with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman together didn't make me nerd out a little. The movie also kept my attention despite the plethora of flaws, and it's two-and-a-half hours long, so there's something to be said for that, I feel. I also really enjoyed a scene in the beginning that took a new perspective on the "Man of Steel" climax. That was clever.

Overall, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" takes a batch of potentially compelling characters and drowns them in a dour tone and a looming need to move on to "Justice League" as soon as possible. Despite the technical proficiency on display, the film doesn't live up to its dramatic ambitions, and the result is a somewhat engaging movie that isn't sure what its own story is and what that story wants to say. It isn't terrible, but it isn't good. Mostly, it's disappointing.

I think that if WB want to keep the visual looking of this film on the rest of the franchise they should keep Zack Snyder as an visual consultant or something like that but find another director and editor.
The movie could be a lot more: great actors, great characters, interesting story, a lot of money spent but, sadly, a mediocre result.

To be fair, there were some aspects of it that I liked- Ben Affleck makes a surprisingly good Batman, Jesse Eisenberg steals every scene he's in and Gal Gadot's Wonder-Woman is impressive. But while Batman's scenes are interesting, Superman's scenes are mostly dull and lacking in any emotional impact (and it doesn't help that Superman himself seems so lifeless for most of the film). The titular battle is underwhelming and the plot is too convenient. Overall, though it is occasionally entertaining, BvS: DOJ gets bogged down by an overstuffed plot, unconvincing scenarios and a serious lack of energy or fun. Still, it left me wanting a Batman solo movie. Expand

Only superman got the backstory from the prequel that makes him 'alive' in this movie. The other characters were thin and foreign. I'm no expert but personally I feel that this batman didn't have the unique personality and emotion that defines batman. It could be any random superhero and batman's plot scenes would still work.

Finally they should've titled the movie differently. From marketing standpoint it makes sense but the plot weakened because they forced the story to revolve around the movie title. It could've been a better movie if they called it something else other than Batman vs Superman.

This movie should have been called Dawn of Justice: Batman v Superman.

A huge part of the movie is nothing more than a buildup for the eventual Justice League flick. I’m alright with buildups, but not at the expense of the movie you are showing at the time.

The storytelling is produced well with at least Batman’s intentions being apparent.

He sees Superman as a threat to the earth and believes nobody should hold that kind of power, less they fall to the dark side. This is presented extremely well through Bruce Wayne and Batman as characters. Ben Affleck owns the role and it shows. He put a ton of work in to pull off the character.

The plot initially centers around Superman dealing with Earth’s population being uneasy about whether or not he is there to help and how he is affecting society. Bruce Wayne is at the secret forefront of this after seeing destruction first hand during the events of Man of Steel.

We get to see the two heroes face off in person once before their big fight. The initial face-to-face is fine but done at an awkward time. Batman is chasing illegal weapons smugglers when Superman just kind of stops him to tell him he shouldn’t want to fight him. Then they just let the bad guys get away.

Superman, you are supposed to stop the bad guys. In fact why even stop Batman? He was chasing the bad guys.

Also you might have heard, Batman kills people in this flick. Process that for a moment.

As much as I love the character of Batman, his entire philosophy is thrown out the window. He still uses non-lethal means for the majority of his fighting, but all of a sudden is fine with mowing down people and exploding occupied vehicles with guns on the Batmobile. Why is that acceptable but shooting someone with an assault rifle is not?

I really liked the first 50 minutes of this movie. There is some great drama between Luthor and government officials which has a great culmination and is my favourite scene in the movie.

The showdown between Batman and Superman is also very well done, it’s not a huge planetary fight which makes sense because it revolves around Batman taking advantage of Superman with a variety of tactics. Both gain the upper hand and build up some great tension in a very gritty battle.

The end of this battle is when the film gets much worse.

The entire reason why the fight ends is completely half-baked and involves shoehorning in Lois Lane. Not to mention in roughly two minutes the characters go from literally being about to kill one another to uttering lines saying they are friends.

Within five minutes this film throws out the last 40 minutes of character development.

The rest of the film involves the two heroes trying to fight back against Luthor’s plan, culminating in a three on one fight with Wonder Woman getting involved.

Remember when this was Batman vs. Superman?

That’s the core problem, the movie feels split in two. The first part does a great job of building up the hero face off, but then brings in a plethora of needless characters so the good guys have someone to fight and become friends leading up to the Justice League movie.

The movie should have been Superman and Batman fighting it out with strings being pulled by Lex Luthor until in the final fight, they eventually realize what happened and stop inches away from killing one another.

Instead we got that, but within the first 60 minutes along with various subplots, followed by the rest setting up Justice League and utterly wasting villains.

Yes, Doomsday was an absolute waste of a character that didn’t deserve the final 20 minutes treatment with little buildup.

I haven’t even touched on the filmography, which is another big issue I have with the film and dark DC comic book movies in general.

Every shot was so grey it almost looked black and white. Accompanying the lifeless colour was overly artistic shots that looked pretentious. There are too many shots of locations with branches out of focus in front of the camera. It doesn’t look edgy when you do it multiple times.

Zack Snyder knows how to do these artistic shots, but that doesn’t mean he always should. To me it gives the impression that he doesn’t know how to make people care, so he tries to make the shot look as interesting as possible.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice adheres to the title for the first half of the movie, until it goes off the rails and forgets telling a story in favour of hyping a sequel.

I thought Ben Affleck was great as Batman, the rest of the cast did fine but Jesse Eisenburg was really over the top (in the bad way). The film feels disjointed at times, the writing was lazy in some bits (Martha) but the visual look of the film looked straight out of a comic book and the fight with Batman and Superman was great. Mixed bag for me personally. I don't hate it, I don't even fully dislike it, it's just not as good as I wanted it to be. And I LOVE superhero movies, so I'm bummed out about this. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't judge my liking of the movie by the rating, I loved the visual asepcts of the movie, but not much else. The characters, apart from Batffleck, seemed pretty thin to me, and could someone explain to me what Wonder Woman's agenda was, apart from retrieving a photo. The only thing that could have made the movie get a higher rating from me was to have let Superman stay dead. A Justice League without him would feel incomplete, to say the least, but I think it would have been more interesting. All the character moments seemed to fall flat, but the fight scenes were epic, but I guess that's Zack Snyder for you. The scene where Wonder Woman is looking at surveillance footage of the other League members felt shoehorned into the movie. It could have been a much better movie, but the job it set out to do, it did well. It got me excited to see the other movies in the DCEU, so there's that to be proud of. Expand

Then there's an alien monster who threatens the world (so original). Toss in a few teasers of future DC Comics heroes (and their franchise flix). Of course, you've got to have brooding internal conflicts for drama. Of yes, and cram in a few big fights, none of which is special or exciting. Now you've got 2.5 hours of incoherent story, muddled action and disappointing cinema. Expand

So some people treat this movie as an enjoyable flick, while other and the critics are quite unhappy. On the surface, if you put your brain on pause, there is plenty of big budget action sequences and an OK enough plot. It is an OK action movie. Don't try to look for more though. None of it holds up to scrutiny or makes sense on a deeper level. There are awesome moments in this film. And there are stupid coincidences/contrivances that would stand out in a B movie. I particularly liked one of the dream sequences trying to recover the kryptonite . I would pay to see a movie that is just that, but with more of a story and a feature length. Ben Affleck makes a surprisingly good Batman, Jeremy Irons is a fun and interesting Alfred. Gal Gidot makes a fine wonder woman. Shame her character is completely 1 dimensional. But then, the same can be said for nearly all the characters in this movie.
Oh and the Batman Superman fight is pretty disappointing. Its completely one sided. Still better than the Doomsday fight which is an OP CG mess.

The two iconic comic book story lines are wasted and misused in the film.

This film is bad not terrible but it has potential. Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne was great,he is the great thing of the film. The action is good especially the warehouse sequence and the Versus that we were waiting for.Te dialogue sometimes cheesy and forced but some of it are good and memorable. The music was great even though it didn't fit the tone of the film. Those are the only good things of the film but the rest was just a mess.

I want to love it but because of it's huge flaws that covers it's potentials that makes me disappointed. This the most iconic superheroes and yet they were humiliated because of this.Either way, let's just Hope Suicide Squad will be good.

Once again, another film that presents an unfocused narrative. The story was all over the place. I sat in my seat baffled for most of the time. However, there was enough story to have some sort of comprehension towards the whole premise. Along with that, the film presents Bruce has pertaining to the same credentials as is comic book counterpart, and Ben nails it. But what bothered me the most was the Batman character. What I saw was not true to the comics. Batman is a hero whose incentive is to preserve justice and apprehend his victims through lethal but not deadly means. Here, I saw a Batman who was bent on killing Superman and kills his enemies. KILLS THEM! It wasn't pleasing to see him depicted in such a unpleasing manner. I really did like the visual effects of the film, though. And the action is further emphasized in this film. Overall, it had something going for it, but Zack's approach towards action over story and thematic approach didn't make this film a favorite for me. So much for my anticipation...

Ever since San Diego Comic Con erupted in 2013 at the unveiling of the Batman/Superman logo, my anticipation and expectation for this film has been torn downBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a mess. There's no other word to describe it. Ever since San Diego Comic Con erupted in 2013 at the unveiling of the Batman/Superman logo, my anticipation and expectation for this film has been torn down the middle. The inner fanboy in me has been incredibly excited to see the biggest superhero showdown in film history. But the sceptic in me is always wary of Zack Snyder's track record and filmmaking capabilities. Or lack of in many respects. And I'm disapointed but completely unsurprised to say that this film has countless problems that dramatically tarnish the overall experience. The most significant problem with this film is the story. People are complaining that the two and a half hour run time is too long. But I think this film needed to be at least four hours long to make any sense of all the content that is crammed together. This film was never allowed to just be Batman v Superman. Like the initial title suggested. And instead this film has become a small and insignificant piece in a larger picture. And the Dawn of Justice sub title is definitely the greater focus and it breaths down the neck of what should have been an incredible standalone film. If Zack Snyder and co had just concentrated on making the best Batman v Superman film that they could, then the Justice League elements could have come further down the line. We've never seen a film with both Batman & Superman in together. Why didn't Zack Snyder make the absolute most of the opportunity and give these two timeless comic book heroes the feature film that they deserved and that the world wanted. What is also detrimental to the story, is the editing. Whenever there's a scene of emotional weight or gravitas, you're just beginning to care about the characters and then it cuts to something completely irrelevant. And you're left wondering what followed in the previous scene as apposed to focussing on what's currently happening. The story is never allowed to breath and thoroughly explain itself. And I just cannot fathom why so many scenes where placed in such irrelevant and disruptive places. It happens on so many occasion and it's frustrating because you feel robbed of a scene that could have made the experience much more satisfying. Following the issues surrounding story, there's then the issues surrounding themes and motivations. Once again the story doesn't allow certain characters to explain their standpoint. Or it's glossed over and you either don't understand or care. The only character I bought into was Batman. And Batman is by far the best thing about this film. Which is satisfying because I'm a huge Batman fan in particular and I would certainly welcome a solo outing. Otherwise I just wasn't invested in any of the other characters or what they contributed to the story. I think Superman has drawn the short straw here and ultimately this is not Man of Steel 2. Here Superman is half heartedly given his own screen time and some questions are asked of his character and what he should or shouldn't do. But I didn't particularly care or feel engaged by his involvement.

There's many problems, but the inner fanboy in me is forgiving and there are moments that I absolutely loved. The Batman segments of this film are by far the highlights. And Ben Affleck is a worthy Batman/Bruce Wayne and I welcome a solo outing. But once again Zack Snyder proves that he cannot tell a story. From the sloppy editing to far too much unnecessary shoehorned in content, BvS isn't allowed to be the big event that it should have been.

Batman: "Tell me, do you bleed? You will".

Dutch: "If it bleeds, we can kill it".

Superman has become the savior of Metropolis - but also a threat to many who fear his god-like abilities could lead to disaster. Gotham City's own Batman is among them, and he goes to confront the Man of Steel - but as these two titans clash, a new evil arises - one that poses a far greater threat to mankind.

The wait is finally over everyone, but was it worth waiting three years for? kind of. But how amazing is it that two of the most iconic superheros of all time are finally facing off with each other in one single movie. Unfortunately, not everyone was excited for it after the very mixed 'Man of Steel', as fans either loved it, liked it or hated the movie. Everyone was Curious, but also worried about Zack Snyder directing this movie, since he normally choices style over substance in his movies. Everything got worse when it comes to news, as the movie kept getting delayed, some casting choices that people got really angry over and the fact that movie was too crowed with it's characters. But hey, maybe Snyder has learnt from his mistakes from Man of Steel and might actually give us the faithful Frank Miller adaptation we've been waiting for.

After seeing the movie myself and letting it sink in for a while, I don't think this movie was terrible or good, but it could have been much better then the one we got. Batman v Superman has many problems with the plot, pacing and characters, but there's also some good things in it as well that I will get to later on in the review.

I think Zack Snyder took a bold move by taking the biggest criticism of "Man of Steel" was that Superman lets way too many people die (or just wasn't heroic enough), into the main story line of Dawn of Justice. I think it's a great way of replying back to the biggest problems fans or moviegoers had with Man of Steel, as it shows that you are aware and care of what people say. In this movie, Snyder sure dose make it as close as the comic when it comes to visuals and making it seem like the comic is leaping out of the comic book page on to the big screen, but sadly, Zack Snyder did what I feared he would do and that's doing the style over substance, with pretentious symbolism and very messy directing. Just when I thought he would fix the problems from Man of Steel, but instead make bigger problems in this movie. Now I don't want to give off the impression that I'm disliking Zack Snyder, because I don't want to, as I think he is a brilliant visual director with many ideas that doesn't always work out. I'm not a hater Snyder, but I had to be honest with you.

Ben Affleck as Batman was probably the biggest "WTF" casting ever and even I was a bit turned off by it when it was first announced, since at the time I wanted Josh Brolin to be cast as Batman. But just like Michael Keaton as Batman, Daniel Craig as James Bond and Heath Ledger as The Joker, we were all wrong to judge something without seeing it and that's once again the case here, as Ben Affleck wasn't the worse part of this movie, but rather the best part. Ben Affleck absolutely nailed it as Batman and I'm glad he proved everyone wrong. It's always a pleasure seeing annoying fanboys being proven wrong (like always). I can't wait to see that solo Batman movie starring Ben Affleck.

The fight scenes between Batman & Superman was really short and I wish it was a little longer, but it was enjoyable. Jeremy Irons as Alfred was excellent and perfect casting choice. Henry Cavill did a decent job playing Superman and the music in the film was pretty good. Gal Gadot did fine as Wonder Women, but her acting was a bit wooden and I hope she dose improve in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie that's coming out in 2017.

Now for the problems: Jesse Eisenberg was god awful as Lex Luther. I don't understand how some people think he's performance was good in this movie, because he was really cringe worthy and laughable. People will find away to defend his performance and over analysis the sh*t out of it to the point where it's really reaching for it. I don't put all the blame on Eisenberg, since it's mostly the directing and the writing that's the blame. It's awful to see a good actor like Jesse Eisenberg sadly being miss cast in a role that should have went to someone else.

Doomsday is in this movie and this isn't a spoiler as it's already been spoiled in the trailers and advertisements. Doomsday is one of the best villains in DC comics, because it's best known for being the one that killed Superman, but in this movie he's nothing but a big CGI monster that was shoehorned in the last few minutes. Also Doomsday looks like that troll monster from Fellowship of the Ring mixed with a Ninja Turtle. It's that bad.

The film itself is joyless and kind of dull at times, because every superhero movie (Mostly DC films) always try to be that dark and gritty movie that it's never going to be. This is 2 hours & 22 minutes of DC trying to catch up with Marvel, now I'm not comparing this to Marvel movies like some critics are, but it's very noticeable that this movie is leeching off the Marvel formal of setting up future movies.

Overall Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a very messy movie that really dose lose focus on what it's doing. This is called "Batman v Superman", how is this movie not the most awesome thing in the world? it's kind of disappointing just thinking about it. If you like this movie and disagree with me on the problems I had with this movie, then that's fine and I'm glad you enjoyed the movie better than I did.

Zack Snyder is a visual director, not a story-teller, and the movie he was given feels more like a bunch of ideas for further movies condensed down and thrown into this one. The result is a movie that is filled with time-killing moments that support setting up a cinematic universe rather than telling the story you paid to watch. This combined with some cringe-inducing performances (mainly Lex Luther) and lots of plot points that feel rushed and not completed creates a movie that is somewhat of a good time, especially if you're into Batman and really invested into the DC universe where you'll understand the movies being setup. However, both you and the casual audience will be bored at times, confused at others, and overall letdown by this movie. Expand

After much anticipation, I thought, "Finally we're going to see the two greatest heroes of DC comic history face off". Utimately we got about 30 minutes of Batman vs. Superman with 2 hours of the dawning of justice.

It's understandable that some back story of how we get to Batman and Superman's battle is necessary. The issue is the overwhelming amount of details DC attempts to cram into one story. There is enough content in this one film for two or three other movies.
For the sake of not making this review as long and somewhat boring as the film, here's the main points:

Ben Affleck is surprisingly decent as Batman and even better as Bruce Wayne.
While it shouldn't matter, I found it a little disturbingly and definitely annoying that Alfred looked like an old Robert Downey Jr.
There just wasn't enough Batman vs Superman and too much Batman/Superman vs everybody/everything else.
The lovey dubey bs is out of place, annoying and just awkwardly timed considering the events that are occurring when Clark and Lois decide to profess their love for each other.
There is sooooooooooooo...ooooooooooooooo many side plots and intertwined story threads that you can't even catch them all. In fact some of the subplots just look like a random stitching together of stories to get the audience to the Justice League.
DC continues to over do it trying to compete with those other comic guys when DC should really stay in it's lane and cater to it's niche with slow build up and elaborate themes...but one movie at a time.

My opinion, if you have two and a half hours to spare...save it for something else. Otherwise prepare for a decent though somewhat scatterbrained story and enjoy the ride. Don't expect too much more beyond content on content on content and you shouldn't have a problem.

This gets bogged down by dream sequences, origin stories, previews to spin-off films and CGI monsters. The real dilemma in this film should have been two opposing egos battling to be accepted rather than coming attractions to sell a franchise-worth of toys. Expand

The cherry-on-the-top was the absolutely ridiculous and poor third-act, putting the nail on the coffin of what it could be a great movie.

Cavill and Gadot are serviceble. Affleck is an amazing and brutal Batman. Irons is a great and complete curve-ball to Caine's Alfred. Adams still plays the damsel-in-distress.

Eisenberg, on the other hand, brings a Joker-like interpretation of Luthor. Too over-the-top and too whiny, almost like a parody of the character itself.

Justice League). A lineup of actors, with Henry Cavill returning as Superman, and Ben Affleck beginning his role as Batman. A curious choice indeed for Affleck since his recent directorial debut of thrillers suggested that it might be a risk taking a backward step to acting. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), gets the introduction she needs to spark the interest in audiences in the film to come. The supporting actors, Jeremy Irons taking over from Michael Caine as Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s butler/weapon designer and Jesse Eisenberg as a paranoid Lex Luthor.

The film mostly merges the two worlds of these superheroes, Batman’s Gotham and Superman’s Metropolis, which is inarguably the most interesting aspect of Batman v Superman. The two cities are presented as being divided by a river and they are shown to be quite distinct from each other.

The opening of a film is quite a good way to show the damage caused by superhero fights, picking up from Man of Steel. The film’s director, Zack Snyder (“300”, “Man of Steel”) when lost and not sure how to move on, adds yet another monster, yet another fight, yet another explosion, yet another theme, making the film abnormally long and overpacked. However Snyder manages to apply the visual aspect such a film demands, even if he is not known for being subtle.

Music by Hans Zimmer (joined on this film by Junkie XL) thankfully makes large portions of the dialogue (Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer) inaudible at times when it’s most needed. One could worry how big that “v” in Batman v Superman is, but it will suffice to say that if you really want to see Batman and Superman in a fight, this is not the film you are expecting. It largely feels like the film had time to fill which it did quite sloppily through dream sequences and the art of adding extra explosions every now and then just for the sake of it.

Overall, a nice lineup of cast and a hugely interesting division of two cities, Metropolis and Gotham, probably stealing the spotlights from Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck themselves. A movie that will surely be extremely popular in its first week of release. Nevertheless, a movie for the sake of making the movie.

At least Batfleck is the best movie Batman yet, Wonder Woman is well done if underused, and Cavil is a capable Superman.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman v Supes was supposed to be the sequel to Superman, yet somewhere in the mind of Warner Bros they lost faith in Superman. So... What we have is a long convoluted movie that teases throughout in a plot that has more holes than a colander. I really wanted to like this movie but at times found myself looking at the watch. The best scenes are the trailers, yet great actors are left to secondary roles that could've been done with cgi versions of them because their screen time was deplorable. See it again and you will notice that all women which are superb actors are given roles that are clichés: Amy Adams and Diane Lane, damsel in distress and caring mom, respectively. Holly Hunter, whom Zach Snyder always wanted to work with is relegated to a role that could've been done by any B actress. She is a superb actress at the level of the others, but thankfully she didn't play mom or damsel in distress. Jesse Eisenberg is over the top playing a cliche of a villain. Don't know what people see in him but he is Jesse Eisenberg playing a fast talking, rambling, pseudo genius, trying to be Heath Ledger: failed. Cavil and Affleck are really good in their roles, Affleck surprisingly sold it, yet all his brooding was over the top. I wanted to yell, I get it, you are hurt. Snyder always like to milk things and preach... but ends up boring us. Take for example the constant "its an island, non populated... it's an abandon place... etc." Well, in battles there is collateral damage... yet here, he was probably told or wanted to say we don't have to destroy things and kill the innocent.
I kept thinking... if Christopher Nolan was producing, why didn't he intervene and say... "Hmm... Zach... you are losing sight of the story and doing your CGI explode this explode that thing with no story telling plot." For example what was Gal Gadot doing throughout the whole movie besides waiting to turn into Wonder Woman? Investigating Lex Luthor? The inevitable battle and its justification between Batman and Superman not only it was predictable it was a letdown. Really Zach? You think we were so dumb we would not get it? It is my judgment that the role of Lex Luthor should've gone to someone with more chops, I dare say, a British villain? Since Heath Ledger is not around, what a Joker! And only mature seasoned talented actors can portray the complexities and genius of Lex, we need someone who can do this... Ah, if only Alan Rickman was youngish and around, what a superb Lex Luthor he would've been. Or the actor who plays Moriarty in Sherlock, Andrew Scott... he would have stolen the show. Yet, I wonder what people see in Jesse Eisenberg who keeps playing Zuckerberg in every film he makes: a one dimensional character ranting diatribes with his high pitch stacato trademark -- a bad version of Woody Allen. Alfred, what a waste of talent for Jeremy Irons... Michael Caine can rest assured he was Alfred. Not Jeremy's fault. He was given lines and scenes that had no depth or continuity. At least we see in this version that Alfred is a techie and mechanic. One more thing, is there a shortage of razors for shaving in Gotham?
I hate to make comparisons but someone should put a leash on Zach Snyder (as they did with Kevin Costner) directing. Sometimes, you need someone who can tell a story and not just put panels together. Film is film, not a comic book, graphic novel, and/or cgi video game. We want a compelling story we can watch, a battle between man versus god was more like a battle between CGI and telling a story. CGI one.

Here's a spoiler alert: In the video game Injustice: Gods Among US, it is Superman who has become angry, brooding, and tyrannical against superheroes and villains. Lois and his daughter are killed. Luthor made him do it, he tricks him to believe she is Doomsday. THAT is a story that explains why Superman is feared he is powerful and deadly. Yet, it was already done in a video game.

In the Dark Knight Rises, Batman detonates a nuke over the ocean (coastline of Metropolis too), leaving the ocean radioactive for years to come... just as this movie. It is not an immediate kill, but a long term, one dashing our hopes for a better DC movie. I think Warner Bros should trust successful directors and writers deal with this material. See how CW has dealt with the Arrow, Flash, and sigh, Supergirl (hey why didn't she help or the Flash?). Learn from these shows, learn also from NetFlix's Daredevil and Jessica Jones... not about hating DC. I wanted this to be as successful as the Dark Knight and to an extent, the Man of Steel. In the end, we are robbed of the advertisement hype which worked for Deadpool and failed here.

As much as I enjoyed Batman v Superman the first time, seeing it again was pretty sobering. I still think everyone involved had great ambitions, but there's a major problem that (to me) explains why there's such a controversy.

Superman is supposed to be a heartwarming character that represents Truth, Justice, and the American Way. He's not an alien monster that the world simultaneously fears and worships as a god. Batman is supposed to be the World's Greatest Detective, whose desire to fight crime is tempered by his intellect and morality. The Dark Knight, yes. The Nihilistic Knight, no.

Zack Snyder's vision for these characters is amazing from a *visual* perspective, but Snyder along with the screenwriters (Chris Terrio & David S. Goyer) decided to deconstruct them to the point where their actions contradict the very essence of what made them great in the first place. They've pretty much given mainstream DC Comics 'the Watchmen treatment', which I think is self-defeating.

Watchmen works in its own context, because Alan Moore didn't write it to make iconic heroes. He wrote it to make a sociopolitical statement, and to essentially parody the very concept of a 'superhero'. This tone doesn't work in an *actual* superhero movie. People watch Superman to believe that a man can fly, not to see him fall back to the ground.

When the movie was first announced I was super excited just likeAfter only four years since The Dark Knight trilogy ended, Warner Brothers decided to reboot the character and instantly put it against the Superman we saw in Man of Steel. When the movie was first announced I was super excited just like everybody else in the world was, then Ben Affleck was announced as Batman and we all started to have doubts. When the trailers came out I started thinking that my doubts would come alive, but did they?
As a huge fan of Batman and DC, I desperately wanted this movie to be amazing but after seeing Man of Steel and the trailers, my expectations were instantly lowered. Even with my low expectations, I was disappointed by this movie. What disappointed me the most was the potential that I saw in this movie that was wasted thanks to Warner Bros. and the director Zack Snyder, who I believe is the man to blame for the failure of this movie.
I may have been disappointed by the movie but I have to say that it still has some positive factors in it. First of all, the movie did a great job with showing the consequences of the events of Man of Steel and the destruction it created. This also meant that it did a great job with explaining the Batman and Superman conflict. Everything about Batman vs Superman was so awesome that its awesomeness only made my disappointment bigger. If these two conflicts were all this movie was about, I can assure you that it would have been a spectacular film. We also got to see a new Batman with his new suit and a slightly different personality. This new Batman is played by Ben Affleck, who I thought was the best part of the movie. I would say that he is the best Bruce Wayne we had so far in cinema and also a pretty good Batman. He brought something new to the bat-vigilante, with his new cool armor and a new Alfred. His servant Alfred was also something that the movie did well with. Jeremy Irons was very suitable casting for Alfred and he showed it with his performance in the movie, I loved him. This new Batman has a lot of promise and I love it already. Another casting choice that proved the doubters wrong was Gal Gadot, as I thought she did a really good job as Wonder Woman and her character looks very promising. The only problem with Wonder Woman was that her role was too unnecessarily big in Batman V Superman. The action and cinematography in this film was mind-blowing, hence why it gets the adjective beautiful. Especially the Batman-Superman fight scene was one of the best fight scenes I saw in my life. Zack Snyder might not be the best storyteller but it has to be said that he knows how to make a fantastic looking movie. I also really liked how the soundtrack portrayed all the different characters in the movie. The last positive of this movie is the way Justice League was set up in the very end of the film, but only the very end!
After I took the pros off my chest, I can finally talk about the cons. To pick off where I left off, Warner Bros. trying to set-up the Justice League movie degraded this movie as a whole. This made a movie that was supposed to be the biggest fight of the century, only a set-up for Justice League. The fundamental issue of this film was how overcrowded it was. It had too many stories in it: a Batman vs Superman fight, the consequences of Man of Steel, a Justice League set-up and Lex Luthor’s huge evil plan. Because it had too many storylines, none of them could be given adequate time and all of them fell flat other than the Justice League set-up, which didn’t need to be there at all. Lex Luthor’s evil plan should have been saved for the Justice League movie, so should have been Doomsday who was totally wasted in this story. A movie like this shouldn’t have had a real villain. It was the two biggest titans of the superhero genre fighting each other and there were already comic books about it that could have easily been implemented to the silver screen. Speaking of a villain, Lex Luthor was by far the worst character in the movie. In hindsight, his presence should have been kept to a minimum and only as a setup for the future. What really happened was that they made him a character as important as both Batman and Superman, and it was extremely annoying. Jesse Eisenberg’s casting as Lex Luthor was another controversial casting choice, and this one proved the doubters right. Luthor was totally out of character and it seemed as though Jesse Eisenberg was playing the supervillain version of Mark Zuckerberg. Everything about Lex Luthor in this movie was the true description of disappointing. Another extremely annoying character was Lois Lane. Her contributions to this movie were far exceeded by the annoyance she created. It is obvious that Superman needs Lois Lane, however this movie made her the girl that constantly created unnecessary drama and got herself in peril every single second. She shouldn’t have had so much screen time if she wasn’t going to have any real contribution to the story. Superman in Batman vs Su

I think it is also important to note that while I may have a slight preference for Marvel's properties; I still have a fondness for DC's iconic characters. I know enough about the characters that I questioned several things in the film and was disappointed to see some of my worst fears were realized.

I feel that your personal enjoyment of the film as with any other is a subject of your personal biases and experiences. This film is a decidedly darker film which I am not entirely opposed to if it fits the character. In this case I don't think the darker tone is the film's biggest problem. It fits the darker interpretation of Affleck's Batman which is absolutely brutal. This batman is the darkest that I have seen in a while. I will openly admit I had my concerns about Affleck being cast but I am glad to say that he delivers a fantastic performance. I can't wait to see him in a solo Batman film.

The other casting choices are all relatively solid with one exception. Gal Gadot delivers a great Wonder Woman and like Affleck I can't wait to see the solo Wonder Woman film. Jeremy Irons plays a more active Alfred which is nice to see. Amy Adams reprises her role as Lois Lane which along with Martha Kent adds a human element to the film that balances its darker tones. The exception is Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal as Lex Luthor. Its important to note that this is not the Lex Luthor many may have been expecting as he plays Lex Luthor's son. His performance could best be summed up as erratic. As other reviewers have put it; it feels like Jesse Eisenberg is playing Jesse Eisenberg.

The movie is about two and a half hours long and its pacing issues are compounded by its runtime . The beginning to middle are very heavy on dialogue and exposition. The themes presented are intriguing but are hard to digest given the number of them. Its dream sequences and jump cuts to entirely different scenes undermine the overall narrative. The other problem I feel is that while the action sequences were great; Zack Snyder isn't a great storyteller.

The biggest fear I had going into the film was that it would repeat the same mistake Spiderman 3 made where characters felt crammed in. I think the film avoided this; though it does seem like the "Dawn of Justice" was oversold a bit. However I do think that I would have preferred the solo films before the ensemble like Marvel has done. In the end I think BvS is an alright film that had parts I really liked while it had others that left me scratching my head. DC now has the foundation out of the way to build upon for the Justice League.

Theatrical Review Only
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Definitely one of the more controversial films released over the past few years, it almost seems like BvS was a victim of its own hype. Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, Gal Gadot were great castings for their specific roles. Jesse Eisenberg gets alot of crap but I compare him very favorably to Zemo (a villain I actually enjoyed greatly) in Captain America: Civil War though his motivations aren't as clear cut as Zemo's were. Superman was barely in this movie and whenever Amy Adam's Louis Lane is on screen, her character in the theatrical cut is useless and idiotic by the way which isn't helped by Adam's almost completely phoned in performance. When it comes to Louis, my issues with her almost go back to Man of Steel. I really feel like she was completely miscast and that an actress who could actually take the role and run with it, like Jessica Chastain preferably would have been much better than what were getting now from Amy Adam's. But back to the film, it almost felt like this movie suffered from an identity crisis and forgot whether it wanted to be a Batman movie, a Superman movie or a Justice League Prequel. That being said, the story is convoluted with issues that go from wasteful story arcs, very unfleshed out scenes that cause an uncohesive story that has so much going on that it's hard to keep the audience's attention focused on the premise at hand. Overall, the theatrical cut wasn't awful by any means. Ben Affleck brings it as Batman and Gal Gadot was elegant as Wonder Woman and It's certainly not the worst movie ever made nor does it deserve the comparisons to Fan4Tastic it was receiving on release. While I'm settling on a 6/10 for the theatrical cut, I did find the EC to be more in line for a 7-7.5/10 as it fixes alot of the issues and offers a more cohesive storyline than that of the cut that was shown in theaters.

Mild Spoilers*
Nah you don't car, you've sen this film already.

I've heard before that DC will start their universe with this film "Batman V Superman" and I was pretty much excited to see DC start their own universe.I was in loved with the teaser trailer,it didn't give much away and it made me more hyped than ever, then the comic con trailer,it added again the hype! But when the 2nd trailer came out I was kind a bit disappointed,I agree from other people that they've shown the whole film but the 3rd trailer gave it justice. Then the wait is over, its finally here,I was so excited to see this film with my friends. After that ..............

I was so disappointed of this film.It rely too much of setting up the future DC film. It's dark but it bored the heck out of me unlike Man of Steel it entertains me from beginning to end even though it has a lot of problems,Here it the problems are everywhere. The story isn't consistent and the pacing is bad.It felt like there are so many scenes that have been cut in order to have the run time that they where ordered.

Secondly, the characters and performances of the cast playing their respective characters.Ben Affleck sold me as Batman, but his character that he is playing was represented wrongly.Henry Cavil's superman was forgettable well in this film atleast,he doesn't do much in the film rather than beat up by batman. Speaking forgettable characters, Louis lane.I think they have a hard time fitting her in this film. Now we get f**king Lex Luthor....Jr. oh men even though I'm not a big lex luthor fan i still think his lex luthor is stupid unlike his predecessor and his motivation is weak. The next is Wonder woman even though Gal Gadot is good as wonder woman and the great entrance of her character was executed well accompanied by a good score but I think she was shoehorned in the film. She didn't do much besides fighting doomsday and walking around. And we have the other character ,cameos I mean,Let me break them one by one but let me talk on thing,The introduction of each characters for the future of dc is the most laziest they've done, everything was in a flashdrive and was sent in an e-mail,shown in an e-mail.anyway The flash was there it was good but not,Aquaman,so freakin awkward but cyborg was interesting.Yeah that's about it.And Oh Doomsday is here,it looks like crap. And the final scene is Man of steel again. Yay!
And also the ideologies, the motivations were convoluted as hell.

Thirdly,Let me give the positive.Like I said Ben affleck did a great job as batman and Bruce Wayne but not technically batman cause he murders a lot of people. He did a a great job.Jeremy Irons is Alfred is different from other incarnation but at least he did a great job(I forgot about him). The music is fantastic. And some scenes were well executed especially the warehouse scene and the BATMAN V SUPERMAN scene. The first scene was good too,the origins of Batman, that we've seen a lot and the perspective of Bruce Wayne when Sups battle it out with Zod.

Verdict: I want to love it but it didn't. It really wants to setup the future of DC and that's the reason why the story is convoluted and isn't consistent. And there are a lot of characters that aren't great and shoehorned. But I might say it has potential to be great and the cinemophotograpy was great so does the score.

Following this they tried to kick start a "DC Universe" (DCU) with The Green Lantern (2011), another comic book hero who has (in my opinion) an even greater, and possibly even limitless, amount of scope for creating a film (and franchise/universe) around. But again, TGL was utterly awful and DC had to go back to square one.
So, they 'rebooted' Superman again with Man Of Steel (2013), which whilst not setting the world alight with what was created, was sufficiently well received to become a not particularly stable foundation.
With the Nolan 'Batman' trilogy at an end, and with Batman being an integral part of the DCU, it was natural that the next film in the franchise should feature him, with Henry Cavill's existing Superman.

Sounds ok, in theory. But in practice?? O...M...G...!

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is everything everyone was hoping it wasn't. As other people have pointed out it's essentially five separate narratives existing at the same time, and none are fleshed out enough to make the viewer the least bit emotionally and intellectually invested.
If you've seen the second trailer for BvS, then you've seen essentially all the major plot elements (bar one, which I won't 'spoil'), and if you've not and are going into the movie blind.... Well, set your expectations down several notches.

So, what's good?

The performances of the main stars are all good enough. No one really stands out, Cavill is brooding and handsome as Superman, Affleck as Batman spends most of the film looking a little perplexed, and Adams as Lois Lane mainly turns up for expositional purposes or to be the de facto 'damsel in distress'.
The opening narrative is actually quite compelling, as it deals with the aftermath of Man of Steel and the public's (and Batman's/Bruce Wayne's) reaction to having this super powered individual in their midst. The interplay between the two 'heroes', in their everyday alter ego's sets up the following conflict really well.
But, after that (and the introduction of Lex Luthor, played in a very over the top, twitchy, almost OCD way by Jesse Eisenberg) the film just nosedives.
The action is well staged, especially during the BvS confrontation but, again, the subsequent action scenes aren't anywhere near as good, lacking coherence and (like in virtually every other superhero movie) lacking stakes.
Zack Snyder's direction is all over the place. He's known (and respected) for his action sequences which, as mentioned, are all over the place themselves.... But he's less well known for his ability to structure a narrative, develop a film's pace, and wring performances out of 'Hollywood Stars'. BvS is very clear evidence of all this. Beyond certain scenes of real spectacle, everything else is just done averagely... And it's a real shame, because the introduction of Batman and Luthor (and their respective motivations etc) could have carried the entire film itself.

Which brings us to what is bad. And by bad I mean things which i can't caveat with positives (like I offered a somewhat negative caveat to almost all the 'good' points!!)

The bad comes from my original statement. That DC are desperate to create a franchised universe for their superheroes (and supervillains) to inhabit.
Whereas Marvel made several standalone movies that introduced the main protagonists of what would become 'The Avengers', DC have instead chosen to use BvS as a launching pad in one single movie.

By this I mean we get the introduction of Wonder Woman (played by the stunning Gal Gadot), who is superfluous to the plot, but is shoe-horned in because she's going to get her own movie.
But we also get insane amounts of 'foreshadowing' of other known members of what will become The Justice League, to the point where I actually found myself both cringing and laughing at the same time.
There's absolutely no need for it, but DC want/need to create a 'universe' in which these other characters exist, and so throw in innumerate 'nods' throughout the film.

So, what's the conclusion?

Is BvS a bad movie? Depends on your point of view. If you want a relatively fast-paced, actioney film with a plot that goes from A-B-C without any real surprises to make you spit out your popcorn... Then BvS will suit you to the ground.

If you're looking for a film which actively encourages you into the new DCU, and have an interest in any of the actual DC characters.... Then this will (as it did me) disappoint you immensely.

It's not a terrible 'film', it's just a terrible 'superhero' film.

Now the time has come to save 'Batman' again, from the clutches of the director Zack Snyder. Though 'Man of Steel' was a dud, he didn't improve much but kept on repeating the same mistake with his aimless direction. This movie has heavy inspirations from 'The Dark Knight Returns' (comic and the animated movie) but this film couldn't even maintain the standards of the animated movie. Though most of the movie is a mind game played by Lex Luthor, the whole plot with lousy screenplay was painful to watch. The only good thing the director has done was casting the perfect crew. All the characters gave their best but the plot of the movie was filled with flaws and loopholes.

Verdict : GOD SAVE 'DC UNIVERSE FROM ZACK SNYDER..

Ben Affleck was on screen for most of the movie, and I hardly noticed him. So, I guess he did a fine job. I was a little troubled by Batman shooting the bad guys like the Punisher would. And Superman came across as abrasive. Obviously, they tried to do too much. It was too long, but it's not like it dragged so bad. On the whole, I'd say it was a fun ride. I can imagine myself watching it again if I caught it playing on TV or if it was streaming free on Netflix or Amazon. Expand

The positives are that Ben Affleck is an amazing Batman and Gal Gadot shines as Wonder Woman. The action scenes are pretty awesome, especially the warehouse scene and the Doomsday fight.

But as I said, the pacing is really off and it makes it hard to enjoy the film. The scenes are very choppy and it jumps so quickly from one story to the next that you can't get really invested in what's going on. For two minutes you're watching a scene with Lois Lane, then the next minute and half it's Lex Luthor, and then another two minutes it's Bruce Wayne. The point is the movie just doesn't flow naturally and it almost feels like a chore to get through.

Some more negatives are first Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. To put it simply he is playing just about every character he has played (i.e., Socially Awkward Guy) except now he is a super-villain. I mean really, it's Mark Zuckergerg if Zuckerberg was where somehow in the DC Universe. Another thing is the Justice League cameos and set-up. It's so lazily done that you could literally see the screenwriters and director adding it in as almost an afterthought months after filming had ended. There is also a nightmare scenario that will make sense to comic fans, but for your average audience they might be scratching their heads like "Huh?".

In the end, there were a few good things in this film but unfortunately they do not make up for all the bad. This film really doesn't bode well for the WB and it's attempts to make a DC cinematic universe, because if this is what the films are going to look like then it all could turn out to be a massive disappointment.

His shortcomings were exacerbated by putting him in scenes with Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Irons is clearly the better actor and makes Ben look worse. As Batman he did a fine job. Overall he ranks third for the role, behind Bale and Keaton. There could have been more story around building his plan to fight Superman. They really forced the main villian (spoiler) Doomsday was kind of forced into being quickly was well. Lex Luthor came across as a little childish and Michael Rosenbaum's portrayal was significantly better. Wonder Woman come out of this film as the best hero. I was in doubt at the original casting, but Gal proved me wrong. While I will, no doubt, wait for Afleck's Batman stand-alone to go to DVD, I will make an effort to see Wonder Woman in the theater. There is no surprises in the actual movie. Lex Luther is supposed to be the most refreshing villain in comic movie history because he always keeps his cool and is a perfect politician. But Jesse Eisenberg being the 1 trick pony, turned him into the typical weird nerdy genius that is in just about every other comic movie. If you don't know about the missed opportunity, think Little Finger from Game of Throne, but even smarter and more powerful. Every scene with Lex in this movie is a total disaster and the clash of ideology was watered down by the meddling. Another foolish thing is... they made batman have a anger tantrum... it's not just the trailer exaggerating. Batman really has just a stupid anger tantrum as teenage-immature as in the trailer. just facepalm all over. It's a reimagining of batman... that turn into crap. Batman's only unique "super power" was his near perfect control, planning and life-experience over all others. They took that away in this movie. This is especially important in Justice League situation. If every fricking character in Justice League is an emotional hot head who throws anger tantrum... well... it's going to turn into a sht mess and there is no longer character differences... just costume and power difference... that completely pales in comparison to why Marvel movies are good. I'll keep this short. Zack Snyder is a little too over-the-top for me. 300 is done, end it. We get it, you like smoke and dark shadows. Henry Cavill lacks charisma, obviously. Ben Affleck did ok. Jesse Eisenburg was horribly casted and kept trying to do a Joker-shtick.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With a movie called "Batman v Superman", you thought it would be epic, gritty, exciting, well-acted and well-directed. If that thought came across your mind, you might have been tricked by April Fool's Day jokers (not intended, I swear). "Dawn of Justice" is the kind of movie I'm more than tired to talk about, simply because it doesn't refrain from other generic super-hero formulas. The Marvel Cinematic Universe became essentially a big advertisement for movies that won't come, and that was painfully obvious when "Age of Ultron" came around. Liking this less than the latter one might be baffling for some DC fanatics, but that's because I got some enjoyment out of Avengers 2. Sure, it was a CGI-fest just like this one, however the cast seemed that they were having fun, and the action wasn't ultimately boring. But that's from my perspective. That was not the only issue the movie had. The movie is clearly overloaded with too much setup and establishing new characters (like Bruce Wayne) that tries to be 3 different things: a Man of Steel sequel, a Batman reboot and an ad for the Justice League film.

So much fuss around Ben Affleck portraying the Caped Crusader, and he was easily the best part of the movie. I don't understand how fans thought he would make much of a damage in a movie where Zack Snyder is the director and David S. Goyer is one of the screenwriters. Nevertheless, Affleck rised to the occasion and brought a sense of darkness to its character that was unlike the other live-action representations of Batman. His interaction with Alfred were a standout, and it was just amazing to see the bat of Gotham make a return to the big screen. Henry Cavill was solid, but not in the same page as Affleck. Too often he was more of a blank face than anything else. His character, though, had a nice arc. I liked that Superman didn't think he was the hero Metropolis or the entire world deserved, and that he could not give the hope that the 'S' on his suit stands for. It was a pleasant theme, one that could have gotten a more dramatic punch if it weren't for the other subplots looming around. Amy Adams was good, but her character did struggle with being relevant to the plot, and most of the time, she was just... there. But the weakest element is, for sure, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. Firstly, totally miscast. And secondly, who directed his performance? Nobody? Excusing laughable things like Luthor's p*ss in that jar, he was over-the-top, cheesy... and nothing else, really. His presence makes zero sense other than to make the titular battle begin, which is more than I can say about him.

The action wasn't a helping factor either - though the warehouse scene was awesome - and was more chaotic and bombastic than entertaining. I can appreciate the absence of the shaky cameras, but the dreary color palette and the need for explosions and everything happening at the same time was exhausting. Doomsday looked horrible. So was the final battle. What the hell was that?

As a Justice League setup, it might have worked, but as a piece of filmmaking, "Batman v Superman" was a movie I was hyped to see. I truly wanted to like it. With that said, this movie falls short in the same category as those mediocre super-hero movies called The Fantastic Four. Loud, overstuffed and most definitely "not fun", this is a movie ONLY for fanboys.

Score: 4.5/10

Yes, Batman is unhinged and cruel, but that is actually justified through his experiences in the film.

Superman seems to be fundamentally misunderstood, he was still the protagonist in my eyes. Being in the impossible position he has been placed in, he was just trying to do the best he could. Batman was the antagonistic one, his fear/anger/hatred is the only reason the two end up fighting.

The film has some big flaws. The plot is super contrived, and a lot of character motivations are murky at best. Quite a few shortcuts taken by the writers make giants leaps over logical issues. But I really feel like that is due to this film needing to do too many things at once. It was attempting to be a MoS sequel, a kicking off point for a new batman, and a starting point for the Justice League. That is an impossible movie to make well, too many things to do and not enough time. Considering the challenge they undertook, I was actually impressed with the quality of the movie.

If you can turn of your brain there is some fun to be had here. Or if you want to look at it critically, there is a hell of a lot to think about. They did a lot wrong, but they also did a lot of things well. It's a movie I would definitely recommend seeing, if only for "science".

However, if you have a very clear idea in your mind of what you think Superman or Batman "should" be. You might want to just skip this. Comic purists who want to see a faithful adaptation of the source material should look somewhere else, this movie is going to break your spirit.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Three years ago at SDCC after Man of Steel graced the big screen, it was announced that Batman and Superman would cross paths in what would be the most anticipated film of a decade [lol]. Along the run there were controversial issues surrounding the movie. Ben Affleck was casted as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and people flipped their **** [He was actually the best part] . The title was revealed as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice [No...not "vs."..."v"]. The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg was casted as Lex Luthor [Screw Bryan Cranston, I loved this decision]. Gal Gadot was casted as Wonder Woman and every DC fanboy rose from their comic books and cheered as the "holy trinity' would come together in live action cinema for the very first time. Snyder promised fans that the new age of DC superhero movies would birth something greater than a "flavour of the week" Marvel flick [It didn't]. When Warner Brothers showed their first full length trailer at SDCC 2015, Marvel fanboys cowered and purged all of their Civil War first prints [idiots] in an attempt to convert. Then there was the Doomsday reveal [we will get more into that later].

So, March 25th, 2016 rolls around and we were finally given the [mis]fortune of entering what will be the "Dawn" of the Justice League and what was said to be Captain America Civil War's biggest competition. I'll admit the early critic reviews did not have me worried; I went in with an open and clear mind. I loved the hell out of Man of Steel and what Zack Snyder did with it regardless of its poor reviews.

BvS on the other hand, I have mixed **** emotions of what was supposed to be the answer to Marvel's critically and financially successful movie universe. [In reality you can't really compare the two. What, this is DCEU's second film? Marvel is going on it's 13th. That's like comparing the accomplishments of someone in diapers to a teenager getting his first part-time job.]

I'm just going to get right into this and lay out what worked and what flat out didn't. Please excuse any profanity that may follow.

The Good

+ The opening credits was very engaging. It was such a fresh way to tell the origin of Batman we are all use to. This helped get that out of the way before the movie started. The cinematography for the scene was very reminiscent of Watchmen, but that is not a bad thing.

+I thought seeing the battle of Metropolis from Bruce Wayne's standpoint was effective in giving him cause to want to fight Superman.

+I liked the overall tone of Ben Affleck's Batman. I think Affleck did such a great job and deserves credit. I can actually admit I am excited for a solo Batman movie. I like the idea of an old grizzled Batman, you get the sense from the movie that this is not his first rodeo.

+I liked Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. We will leave it at that.

+LEX LUTHOR. Everyone hated him. I LOVED THIS GUY! He was literally the only person in the movie having fun and it was refreshing. I thought his dialogue was awesome. I loved his conspiracy within the plot [don't get that confused with liking the conspiracy as a whole]. I loved the point where he had control over Superman by kidnapping both of his loved ones. I am a fan of the business man Lex, but this was a curve ball that kept me enthralled. Even the allusions to heaven and hell were entertaining coming from this poetic incarnation.

+The action and choreography was pure eye candy. You can tell the amount of money and care was put into each action scene [except one, and we will get there]. I really liked the Batman v Superman fight scene as well as when he is taking on 30 of those thugs while trying to save Martha.

+Superman decaying in space was cool.

+I always appreciate Zack Snyder's cinematography.

+Hans Zimmer never fails to make a sweet soundtrack. I love the return of Superman's theme and I am very surprised by Wonder Woman's!

+I feel like Zack Snyder loves the Arkham video game series. This works for the best.

+I was intrigued by the political drama tone the movie gave [to an extent].

+ I'm excited for Ezra Miller as The Flash.

+There were seven jokes this time instead of the only two that were in MoS.

+Batman killing.

+It was super cool to see the other members of the Justice League make a quick cameo in the video feeds Lex had...

The Bad

-...although it was cool, THIS IS NOT THE DAMN TIME DC! This movie is in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would have at least released a solo movie for each player before giving us a Batman and Superman prelude or whatever you want to call this thing.

-To expand on the above negative, I felt that this movie suffered from a lot of bloat. The first half was like a five in one value pack minus the value part. Nothing about cramming five movies worth of content into half a movie is ok. The story failed to be coherent in the first act. Yes, it did all come together into something salvageable after Lex revealed he conspired to get Supes to take on Batman, but in turn it lead into one of the worst CGI **** of a generation...

-Some of you may call it cool, but I was too busy having a seizure to understand what the **** Zack Snyder was thinking. What happened with all the cool **** you pulled off in Man of Steel? I WANT THAT BACK!

-This brings me on to Doomsday. The design I can get over, but you literally pulled a Green Goblin in TASM2. At least the Green Goblin had some prior development. As a comic book reader, I get what Doomsday's purpose was, but you could have saved him for a Man of Steel movie. This was a waste of Doomsday. His explosion power was stupid.

-Spoiler incoming......SUPERMAN DIES! Yes, they decided to do the Death of Superman storyline. Arguably the most popular, but also the most overrated. I mean I can't complain because at least it is out of the way and when Superman gets out of his Superhero coma, we can get back to some good **** [hopefully]. I mean the way he died was very Superman, but it had no emotional pull that it should of. Cavill is an awesome Superman, don't get me wrong, but the character just didn't have enough time with the audience for us to care that he died. -Why did Batman ask if Wonder Woman was with him when he was investigating her the whole damn movie. -The movie takes itself way too seriously sometimes when it comes to the public outcry on Superman. -The "Holy Trinity" finally coming together was very underwhelming. The Excruciatingly Horrible -- Lois Lane. Why the hell did you throw the spear in the water only to need it afterwards. Also, why the hell does this bid have to be everywhere all the damn time. Oh right because she is a "journalist" not "a woman"[that is actually a quote from the movie, don't shame me]. --Can someone please explain to me why Superman and Lois are in love? Only use content from Man of Steel and this movie....yeah that's what I thought. -- The scene where Batman put all his differences aside because his mom and Superman's mom share the same name is so painful to watch. That is just lazy writing. --Zack Snyder hates Superman. That was literally not Superman. I felt he was a politician from Krypton. There was no lightness and hope that came with this interpretation. Only a guy who was arguing with Batman on who's dick is bigger. --How/Why did Lex become the Master of that Kryptonian ship? Because the plot needed him to...right? --WHY THE **** DID THAT WHOLE AFRICA THING NEED TO HAPPEN! THAT WAS A WASTE OF SCREEN TIME AND SECONDS YOU COULD HAVE USED TO FILL THE MARIANAS TRENCH THAT IS PLOT HOLES. --Zack Snyder killed Jimmy Olsen just because he can. And wait, you are only now figuring out that guy in Africa with the camera who got shot in the head was Jimmy Olsen. --But wait...isn't there a Jenny Olsen too that Snyder introduced in MoS? Are they related? Married? Who cares at this point. --That glimpse of Cyborg looked stupid. --How could the greatest detective alive not detect he was being setup by Luthor? --So Batman gets premonitions now? --I would put the scene where the Flash comes to warn Bruce about the future as a positive but it went on WAY too long, I started laughing. --Kevin Costner did not need to be in this movie. --Jeremy Irons as Alfred was ok, but I felt as though him and Bruce's relationship resembled old college buddies as opposed to Alfred being a father figure. --Senator Finch. In conclusion, there were a lot of ambitious moments but mostly stuff that was just plain bad. I think Zack Snyder fails to truly understand these characters. His vision is a representation of the only two comic books he has ever read..."The Death of Superman" and "The Dark Knight Returns". Call me a casual DC fan, part-time superhero lover and full-time movie enthusiast, so I can respect a DC film when I see one. If Zack wants to step down and give someone else a go [even though he goes into production on the Justice League next week], I will be happy to give this universe another shot. As of now, consider me disinterested. I will give this a solid "Meh..." 5.654345210283029/10 [Score is based off I don't **** know, just give me Captain America: Civl War already!]

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wasn't a huge fan of Man of Steel. It had a lot going for it, but it was way too joyless for a Superman origin story. Also, the best takes on Supes have always been aspirational. He's supposed to be the best of us. Otherwise such a ridiculously overpowered hero almost always comes off as a bit of a dull douchebag. So that's my disclaimer.

That being said, I enjoyed Man of Steel quite a bit more than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It's not a terrible film, and by far the best thing in it is Ben Affleck as what is, let's admit it, a really only slightly more unhinged take on Bruce Wayne/Batman. His character's motivation for trying to take out the Man of Steel may not be totally convincing, but the sheer intensity of his performance goes a long way toward glossing over what should be glaring plot weaknesses.

Henry Cavill's Superman, however, remains as inexplicably wooden as ever. I say inexplicably because I've seen Cavill give more than one very good performance. I even enjoyed him in the ridiculous Snyder-lite ripoff, "Immortals." But his Superman has to be the least entertaining version I've ever seen. At this point I'd take Dean Cain over him. Seriously. Dean Cain.

The other performances are middling to decent. Gal Gadot's go as Wonder Woman is sufficient to pique interest in her upcoming solo film. Amy Adams is still OK as Lois Lane. I wasn't nearly as annoyed by Jesse Eisenburg's Alexander Luthor, jr. as others seem to be. I wasn't crazy about the character, but he didn't make me cringe nearly as often as I expected him to do.

The biggest shortcomings of the film are all behind the camera. The writing is very thin. Thin might be too generous a word. Frankly, the plot wasn't very good at all, and the scattered editing doesn't help matters. There's no good reason for a film of this running length to be made up primarily of scenes shorter than most of its trailers. No element of the story is allowed to develop interest in the viewer before we've cut to some other, largely unrelated scene somewhere else.

Then there's the ending. After a pretty convoluted but undeniably enjoyable battle between the film's headliners, here comes Doomsday. It's as if the writers realized that, given the antagonist of the film is really just a mentally unbalanced dweeb who Lois Lane could drag off to jail with one arm tied behind her back, when our heroes stopped fighting each other and teamed up to defeat him, the experience was bound to be anticlimactic. So instead they shoehorn in the ultimate in comic book boss battles. The Death and Life of Superman, while admittedly a stunt, was still one of the most well-executed stunts in comic history. It deserved to be adapted to the big screen as more than an afterthought.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have never been so indifferent about a movie before. There are some good parts with a couple surprises (the courtroom scene definitely shocked me) but the long haul through the middle of the film was just soooo boring. I actually dozed off a couple times. Lex Luthor is one of the most annoying and miscast characters in all of cinema. I really don't know what they were thinking. Everything kind of played out by the numbers to the end, combining a couple popular DC comic stories into one movie. Wonder Woman was cool, however her musical theme was amazing and one of the best scores I've heard in awhile. It really pumps up the crowd for her appearance. One thing I just could never get behind was that Batman would have a snowballs chance in Hades against a god with unlimited strength, lightning fast speed and reflexes and super senses, with the additions of devastating range attacks like heat vision which we know can demolish entire buildings like in Man of Steel. Batman triumphs simply because the story needs him to. Expand

Gal Gadot did wonders with what little screen time she had.
Great fight scenes.
Excellent cinematography. Simply put it's visually spectacular.
Excellent beginning.
Unpredictable ending.
Hans Zimmer's score.

THE BAD:
It's a rushed setup film for the Justice League, so it's crammed with too many plots/sub-plots.
Bad editing, disjointed scenes (once again due to too many plots)
Main antagonist's motives are unclear.
Some minor plot holes.
Slow middle.
Unnecessary cameo from one particular superhero (could have been a simple end credit scene).

Summarize it''s no masterpiece and there are certainly much better superhero films out there but it isn't a terrible film by any means.

I would've preferred to watch a 40 minute version of this movie, and that wouldn't have cut out any of the substance. Lex Luthor was perplexing, normally being one of Superman's greatest villains he was reduced to an awkward weirdo who was not intimidating or impressive. I rarely post reviews but this movie was awful enough for me to say don't spend your money on it! If you must see it wait for it to play on a movie channel or borrow it off one of your friends foolish enough to buy it. I would advise against even that but I couldn't be talked out of seeing it so I understand the sentiment. A dull experience for my friend and I. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some people may disagree with some of my comments, but here it is. The best part of the film were the fight scenes, I think they were brilliantly done. As for the rest, I think the storyline is sort of predictable and I have to say I was so confused as to why they were actually fighting for the majority of the film. I know throughout their comic book and film history the characters have fights, but I think they needed to point out why a lot earlier on in the film. The whole thing about their mums having the same name too to stop them fighting seems really pathetic. I enjoyed the inclusion of Wonder Woman, she was awesome. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor works but I do find him really irritating at times and that's probably personal preference. Another thing is Batman, I think this film portrays him in a much softer light, and I prefer him with his dark and brooding attitude as that's what I have grown up with. It still includes this but I felt as though he was a lot softer. Definitely disappointed with this one. Expand

I definitely think the movie is a bit overhated, but it does have a reason to be hated. I could go on and on and on about the issues with this movie, but I'm just going to keep it to three:

1. USELESS: I understand that some movies can be appreciated as art, or something to be appreciated. Those are the type of movies you remember, and have FEELINGS about, like Shawshank Redemption. Then there's fun popcorn movies that are a good, fun thrill ride like The Avengers. There are some movies that can be treated as both, like the original and latest Star Wars, or Raiders of the Lost Ark. This movie is neither. You can't appreciate it, because there is no different feelings you get from this movie in comparison to others (other than confusion). It's only fun at times, but not the substantial level that superhero movies need to provide today.

2. OVERSTUFFED PLOT TURKEY: There was so much stuff going on that I got headaches just to catch every characters emotions, motives, and, well, character within the movie, because the movie was trying way too hard to make another shot every 5 seconds just to build up 10 different characters in 5 minutes. Doing that only makes the viewer angry and hot emotionally attached to any of the characters at all.

3. LEX LUTHOR: The obvious issue was casting, but Lex felt so small as a villain in this movie that the only villain was the overcomplicated plot. Doomsday was a bust, so I figured that Lex could just do some Magneto-type control and grasp the final battle in a respectful fashion, but instead decides to not have another scene in the battle after he almost gets killed by Doomsday by a punch (which Superman had no reason to save Lex from, that scene was one of the worst in the movie).

The beginning and ending was enough to redeem the movie from being "bad" though, even though it chokes hard for two hours.

SO DISAPPOINTED.

But for a movie called Batman v Superman, it lacks a lot of that. They seemed too concerned about setting up Justice League that they forget to make a good film. This film is a complete sloppy mess at a story stand point. Lacking a cohesive narrative, it doesn't know what it wants to be and for a good portion of this film I was miserable trying to get through it. Are there great moments in this movie? Absolutely there are! Ben Affleck is fantastic as Batman/Bruce Wayne, the opening 20 minutes is incredible and there are a few action sequences that caught my attention. However the negatives out way the positives in a landslide making Batman v Superman the first disappointment of 2016. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While convoluted, dull, and tiresome, B v. S finds a way to expand on beloved characters and breathe new life into Batman. The sole highlights of this film are Batman, given a new bold flair by Ben Affleck; and Wonder Woman, both the character and her theme (AWESOME!!!). Still, the movie jumps spastically and has no clear logic between B and S fighting. Also, Lex Luthor SUCKS! "Hi, I am Lex Luthor look how hip and zany I am. Don't you just love me?" NO! No we do not. Finally, the film is worsened by the appearance of Doomsday to forcibly bring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman together. Saying your "enemies' " mother's name does not justify an epiphany of "Hey, maybe this guy is not so bad?" It is stupid. The writing is lazy too. A bunch of coincidences and forced events. At the top of the **** writing is the E-mails detailing the soon-to-be Justice League. For any other viewer, common movie goer, it is confusing to see people you do not even know or have been cast differently than the TV shows. I would write more, but I'm done with this movie
Overall I am going to give this movie 4 / 10
Pros: Everything about Batman, Wonder Woman (Character and Theme)
Cons: Convoluted Story, Lazy Writing, CGI Cluster-F**k of a climax, and Lex Luthor

My honest rating would be a 5.5. It's a solidly mediocre film. Schitzophrenic pacing, plot holes the size of the grand canyon, deus ex machina, some cringe-worthy dialogue, anti-climactic, and bad casting in Eisenberg and Adams. I don't mind the deviations from the source materials at all (if it makes the film better, then great), but there are some ultra-clumsy plot devices that would make any toddler say "c'mon, really??" -- the treatment of some points seem like they were written by a lazy middle-school student turning in an essay late. Worse, the film just seems to lack any heart: this certainly won't be one of those films where time sheds a somewhat better light on e.g. MoS. The few positives include tasty visuals and fun-to-watch actors in the hero roles, but all in all, I really wish I'd spent my time and money elsewhere. Expand

I really wanted to like this movie. Tried my best to ignore the online criticism. Unfortunately I still ended up thinking the movie is a mess. Don't get me wrong, there's allot that I really liked too.

If anything the whole movie from the point where Batman fights Superman to the end was great. Great action, some powerful and iconic scenes. Gal Gadot really kicks @$$ as Wonder Woman. Affleck is great as Batman, Irons is a great Alfred. In fact almost every Batman related scene was great.

What lets it down? Essentially most of the first two thirds of the movie. Basically, most of the Superman scenes. There is little to no build up relying heavily on the first movie to establish Superman's character. What little there is, is weak. Don't get me started on Lex. Eisenberg is just far too over the top, coming across as a looney toon. There's a thin line between twisted genius and cartoon villain (a la Jim Carrey's Enigma. Not that far gone, but making a solid effort.)

Overall:
Batman v Superman is perhaps trying too hard to establish the DCU with everything they try to set up. In doing so it kind of loses itself for most of the beginning of the movie. However, when it remembers to be a movie it does have some great and enjoyable moments.

Side Note to producers:
Lose Eisenberg. He's terrible. Rather recast or bring in Lex senior. Junior sucks.

WasIt was... okay. I went in having already had my expectations lowered by the critics' reviews, and though their criticisms are mostly valid, they emphasized them to the nth degree, making it seem as if those flaws were all this movie was. Was the plot disjointed and pacing poor? Yes. Could you still understand what was going on? Easily. Was Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor erratic and not in keeping with the brooding tone? Absolutely. Was half the movie dream sequences? Well it sure felt like it. Was the climax a complete disappointment? Almost.
First off, Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons worked together as Batman and Alfred perfectly. The chemistry was wonderful. Affleck defied all controversy surrounding his casting, becoming the brooding, downtrodden Dark Knight we'd all expect 20 years into fighting crime. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams were forgettable. Believable performances, but with little depth, and there was really little dialogue exposing their characters' conflicts. Gal Gadot was exactly as we'd hoped she would be, but very little of her is really seen until the end, and there we get some wit and cool handling of her character, but just enough so as to leave a lot of expectation on her upcoming feature film. Now, I'll come to the real gripe. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. With Lex Luthor, you expect to feel a sense of dominance. This film certainly played with the source material, but as an eccentric, tick-ridden billionaire being supposedly the big bad behind the events, you'd expect a bit more reservation to make him worthy of this task. But alas, from the outset, he's just weird. Weird and irritating. He puts a tootsie roll in someone's mouth in one of the first few scenes we see him in. He just didn't do it for me.
Visually, I have little qualm. It went for a dark, gritty feel, and it achieved that. The CGI towards the end was noticeable, and I think they should've just left out the last bit all together. It made an already jumbled and full film feel even more bloated. They were trying to do too much, and though this film didn't feel like it was trying too hard to play catch up with Marvel, there were bits that were forced and unnecessary. Especially the cringeworthy drop in of the other Justice League members. No need.
We all know that comic book movies are low-brow, so, as just a comic book movie, it was an alright comic book movie. That's all to be said. Entertaining and interesting for the first two acts, but the climactic anticlimax will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Not something I could see myself watching multiple times, if only for the moments where they actually made Batman scary, and the relationship between Affleck and Irons.
