Hits all the right marks for a franchise which had previously struggled to find success in story telling and engaging 360 degree gameplay. A memorably experience and will go down as a classic in the sonic fandom.

It just felt so dead, it fun to blitz around but the combat is boring. The dialogue was cringe like past sonic games, sonics personality felt off and the pacing was all over the place. I dont get why its getting so much praise.

Good try Sega, but still not great. This is a game about Sonic the Hedgehog, it should be fast-paced intense action-platforming, which should be incredibly easy to implement into a video game. And yet, you somehow make it boring as heck.

For an average joe, Frontiers might seem like it has nothing special to offer other than lots of solid and fun gameplay. Some people have also compared Frontiers to other open world games when it's not even that. The Starfall Islands seem more like Super Mario Odyssey levels rather than a full open world, with a lot of little objectives to do like gather Memory Medals for basic progression, finding Cyberspace levels, and fighting Guardians and other enemies. So, for the average Joe, this is a solid 7/10.
However, as a Sonic fan, Frontiers is on a league of its own. Sonic Team may have found what they were looking for all along with Frontiers, their identity. Right now, Frontiers is one of the best Sonic games out there, surpassing the likes of Adventure 2, Mania, and Unleashed. Open Zone is a very interesting concept and Sonic Team can perfect it with more practice. The music is amazing as always. You feel in control of Sonic more than ever in Frontiers since you feel like everything that happened was your fault. Sadly, the Cyberspace levels are lacking in visual diversity but the real meat and potatoes of Frontiers is its Open Zone islands, huge open areas full of enemies to defeat and stuff to collect. Ian Flynn, from late Archie Comics and IDW Sonic, also wrote the story of Frontiers and now the characters seem more like their "before Colors" selves, and I hope SEGA keeps Flynn for the next installments as his Sonic writing is superb. The future of the Sonic franchise seems brighter than ever before thanks to Sonic Team's ambition and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the next Sonic game.
As a Sonic fan, this game is a 9/10.
Overall, Sonic Frontiers gets an 8/10.

This game is the most fun I have had playing all year. It's not perfect the physics in cyberspace still suck. But running around the open world is so enjoyable would highly recommend. The story has throwbacks to sonic adventure so it's well worth playing if you were a fan of that game. Don't listen to the critics dissing the game pick it up and have fun.

This is the most fun I've had with a video game in a long time, and I genuinely stand by that statement. This game, at least for me, really does a good job at sucking you in and making you want to play for just hours on end. I haven't played a game in a long time that's made me feel this way, and it is quite refreshing. Running around freely in a big open world is something I've always wanted to see in a Sonic game, and this game certainly delivers it very well! Sonic controls the best he has in a long time. He's much easier to maneuver, you can finally turn on a dime again, and the movement overall just feels much more fluid. The new combat system while simple is also a blast to play around with, and you can actually do some pretty flashy tricks and attacks while battling. The control overall does take a bit of time to get used to the first time around, so don't be dissuaded if you aren't getting the hang of things right out of the gate. Once you do, it's really addicting. The game is built to allow you to experiment with Sonic's moveset and find new ways to explore the Islands through stuff like the boost (obviously), Drop Dash, and other ways of covering ground more quickly. It's not perfect by any means, and there are things about the game that definitely could've been done better or at the least differently. Without going into spoilers, the true ending kind of is just a bit disappointing, and of course there are some technical issues like the pop in and whatnot (not really a whole lot of bugs though, from what I came across). But in all honesty, that's okay! Let's be real, no game is perfect, and as long as the game is still fun, that should be what matters the most. And if there is one thing that this game certainly is, it's pure fun from start to finish. If you like Sonic or are interested in trying a new Sonic game, I highly recommend Sonic Frontiers. It's a great time and I really think you'll have a ball with it once you start playing and getting the hang of things. And if you want my advice, take the time to really explore your surroundings because it just really enhances the experience. Overall, I'm giving it a 9/10. Expand

The speed feels amazing, and with the ability to adjust different aspects, you can go for that extremely high precision from older 3D titles like Sonic Adventure 2, and Day Stages in Sonic Unleashed, or go for a more slow, and methodical style, similar to Night Stages in Sonic Unleashed, or Shadow's style of combat in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), or even something in between. Each option is extremely smooth and tight, just done at different speeds The soundtrack is one of the greatest I've ever heard, especially in the current landscape of more cinematic OSTs, and Orchestral tracks, the hard Mid-2000s rock brings a breath of fresh air, and an adrenaline rush like no other. Tracks like "Undefeatable", "Break Through it All", and "One Way Dream" are sure to make Sonic fans think about the days where Crush 40 was making Sonic OSTs some of the most iconic in gaming. Without getting into spoilers for the main story, the story itself is amazing, down to the more mature voice acting, to the world building, and even some simple character interactions. The boss fights are also a treat to behold. Each one is accompanied by this adrenaline pumping track, and the sheer amount of power you feel in each fight is enough to put final boss fights from not only other Sonic games, but many other games in general to shame. I played Frontiers in the Nintendo Switch system, and found very few instances of glitches, or structures popping in that aren't also present in some of the massive AAA games of the modern day. My only complaint at the moment with the game is how you cannot re-fight bosses after already beating them, but I am more than willing to replay through the game just to re-experience those fights. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who is even remotely curious, or even if you aren't. I have adored every second of this game, and I am willing to bet you will too. Expand

As a Sonic fan I really like this game. The open world "levels/zones" are huge, with a lot to do from platforming to puzzles. I feel like the size of them really lets you go full speed and have fun while doing it. The random enemy spawns are fun, not too annoying or overwhelming. There is enough variety in the open zones to keep me interested, especially going for 100% on each. I find myself just blasting away an hour or so just running around.
The stages themselves are also pretty great. They're not too long and give enough of a challenge to be fun without being too frustrating. There are similar places like Green Hill and Chemical Plant, among others and they vary from 3rd person to side-scrolling. They are scattered through the open zones, and need special Gears to be unlocked, but those are easy enough to get.
The boss battles, the big titans, are also quite fun. You get to be super sonic, which is fun and the music is honestly phenomenal. The battles give a little challenge, but nothing too crazy.
Story? Well it's a Sonic title, so it's kinda wild with a bit of heartstring tugging. The voices are great too.
The soundtrack is amazing. Every song rocks from chill melancholy, to heavy metal rock. It deserves an award.
And, there is a fishing minigame. Different spots for each open zone - find the portal, go there, and fish with Big the Cat. It's super easy and not really challenging, but still fairly fun as you always get something. Everything caught leads to items and currency to upgrade Sonic.
Upgrading Sonic is fairly simple, picking up seeds and little creatures to turn in with elder Koko. you can level up Sonic's attack, defense, speed, and ring capacity. You can also unlock new moves for Sonic's combos. Those get unlocked pretty quickly, which I don't hate because it means you get to use his full range of attacks for most of the game.
OVERALL I think it's a great game that is reminiscent of the Adventure series, with bits of Generations and Forces mixed in. People that say the game is repetitive..I'm assuming have never played a Sonic game, let alone a video game in general. Every game feels repetitive after a while from COD to God of War.

I would give it a 10 if you could play as other characters.

From the outstanding music to the somewhat buggy, but fun gameplay, Sonic Frontiers marks a new era with real character development, a non-linear, open zone approach and countless new content for the player to discover.

    ---Graphics--- 6/10
In my opinion, the graphics didn't feel as next-gen as I've thought. However, the day-night cycle, as well as the dynamic wheather clearly fits the game tone. A problem that many users might be concerned about is the constant loading of objects to interact while playing. I personally didn't notice that much.

    ---Gameplay---(7/10)
The gameplay may be divided in two separate sections: Open-Zone and Cyberspace. While the open-zone gameplay might be the one considered more buggy at first thought, it was definitely more enjoyable, as you literally feel in Sonic's shoes thanks to the speed and freedom provided. Also, almost every character's physics can be tweaked in the options menu. Cyberspace was definently the less enjoyable one for me. Sonic's physics can't be tweaked here, so you are obligated to adapt to this set of acts. Thinking about open zone again, you can interact with a ton of new objects, but the objectives on each island could be perceived as repetitive and, personally, I agree to some extent. The first island has some areas that feel unfinished, and the developers could have spent more time improving this aspect.

    ---Story---(9/10)
In the last ten years, Sonic's stories felt somewhat simple, trying to bring fun in scenes that definently were not supposed to. From cheesy lines to blank characters, Sonic and his friends felt dumb and empty to the player. Nowadays, Sonic Frontiers brings a whole new character development to each person in the game, including the villain. A lot of past adventures are brought back, and not ignored like they were with the previous writers. The game passes an aura of mystery, and it clearly transmits that to the player. Also, the whole Sonic's character adopts the good old attitude that really defined him from the 90's to the 2000's.

    ---Soundtrack---(10/10)
Oh, where do I begin with? Sonic Frontiers music clearly fit the tone they wanted to send to the player. From the mysterious Open-Zone to the frenetic Cyberspace, or even the glorious vocal tracks used in boss fights, every note feels right. Even the sounds used in cutscenes enhances the whole scenario with ease.

Overall, if you feel insecure about buying the game, there is nothing to worry about! I definently recommend you to grab it and give it a shot!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sonic Frontiers is the step in the right direction the fans have been waiting for. I distinctly recall being worried about the quality of the game when the first few videos were released, but when I finally saw the game for what it was, it was like a breath of fresh air. Though the game appears unpolished in some places, this is a fun game overall and worth playing if you get the opportunity.

Once again, the OST never misses. The music is great and I’ve caught myself listening to songs on repeat. The Titan fights gave me flashbacks to certain other Sonic games that played songs with lyrics over their bosses. But, somehow, they’re better!

The character writing is so nice! In the past, there has been an issue with certain character traits being comically exaggerated. It was great being able to enjoy character dynamics and be truly invested again. I even caught myself laughing at Sonic’s lines! I could see personalities behind everyone and it was a wonderful feeling. Sonic’s relationships with Amy, Knuckles, and Tails felt far more real, too, and so did Sage’s development and Eggman’s relationship with her. I’d call this the strongest point of the game.

The continuity is great, too. I loved hearing characters wonder what their friends are up to or remark how something reminds them of this other thing. It helps me to remember that these characters have a long history together and, again, makes them feel more real. The slightly deeper voices and the goals they express for their futures also help with this maturity aspect. They’ve been adventuring for so long, it’s great to see them maturing and opening up possibilities for solo games.

The setting is pretty! I wish some of the platforming was integrated into the landscape, though, and not just floating. Sometimes the random rails and platforms looked strange in the air. The different biomes on each island were cool, though. The lore of the islands was fascinating and came with some interesting implications for Chaos and the Chao. I’m glad we got to expand upon the Chaos Emeralds.

The controls are tight but the physics have issues sometimes. The skill tree was a very cool idea.

Unfortunately, my biggest issue was with the final boss and the following ending. I loved the idea of a Lovecraftian horror that takes out civilizations for reasons mortals cannot comprehend, and the idea of The End manipulating Sonic from the beginning was fantastic. I have played other games that have used the same concept and made it compelling and it’s one of my favorite story tropes. However, the fight was underwhelming. I like shooting minigames, but how is that what the player has to do after those fights with the Titans? Especially after making a whole skill tree for Sonic? The fact that The End is just a purple moon also bothers me after the great designs for the Titans. The End feels like the weakest point of the game to me.

Sage fighting with Super Sonic against The End in space and sacrificing herself for the greater good felt like a great homage to SA2. I may or may not have shed a tear, there are no witnesses to confirm nor deny that allegation. However, Sonic and his friends just flying off at the end without talking about it seemed jarring. We’re not going to acknowledge that Sonic was tricked by a god? Or that Sage just seemingly died? How is everyone okay just flying off into the sunset?

Most importantly, this game is fun. Despite certain slip-ups, Sonic Frontiers is a good time to be had. Overall, a solid 9/10 in my book. Easily could have been a 10/10 had some further polish been applied. My final question is this: Chao Garden when?

I genuinely love most Sonic games and even the few I don't, most of the time I see some redeeming qualities. This though? I feel like I didn't even play the same game as everyone else. This is just them tripling down on everything people hated about stuff like Forces.

It's just shallow level design and reused assets AGAIN. We really waited 5 years for them to put together like 15 green hill zone levels and a bunch of floating grind rails over a default unreal engine terrain. Being able to move in 360 degrees smoothly is cool but I'm not about to give this game points for taking one step towards being as fun to control as Sonic was almost 25 years ago. The movement is still extremely restrictive and does all it can to make player expression as downplayed as possible. And the levels are as basic as physically possible, to the point it doesn't even matter that the controls are decent. Walking down an empty hallway for 3 seconds is gonna be lame no matter how good or bad a game controls. Not to mention in the cyber space levels they gut your controls to be worse for some reason? Literally ripping level design from Generations made for you to drift around, and yet they removed the drift. Except for one level all about drifting ripped from Unleashed, where you have the slowest, most awkward drifting the series has ever seen made just for this stage.

The level design in the "open zone" areas is comically bad. If they were isolated and presented in quite literally any other game they'd be laughed at as some of the most pitiful levels in platforming history. It's all just extremely binary worthless interactions. Homing attack when available, automatic grind rails, automatic wall running, dash pads EVERYWHERE pushing you through entire sections automatically. This game is so afraid of how bad people are at Sonic games they don't want to risk you failing a 5 second long platforming section by designing ANYTHING interesting. It's just 10-15 hours of constantly going through bite sized levels like this that all play the same.

The combat is just button mashing with EXTREMELY light RPG mechanics. Animate a couple flashy special moves where sonic moves all over the place and people are tricked into thinking it's exciting. In reality fights are very scripted. The core gameplay mechanics can literally change on a per-enemy basis. Winning a fight means you followed the script, deviating from said script just pops up janky interactions at best. And that's for the actually "engaging" fights, a lot of them are very mindless. And for the RPG stuff, it's mostly tied to...fishing. The most bare bones fishing minigame the industry has ever seen, that has more in common with a gachapon machine than actual fishing. But yeah you just fish for like 10-20 minutes and your strength and defense levels will be higher than if you 100% the rest of the game otherwise. Tied together with a parry mechanic that asks you to hold the button and wait to be attacked, as there's no timing required.

Which leads into the challenges. Stand here and parry something, you have 40 seconds to do this. Then a different one, parry that same thing but 3 times with a full minute to do so. Parry has no depth to it, you hold down the button and wait. This takes 5 seconds to do at most. This is how deep the game as a whole is, it's just worthless interactions. These insulting challenges were bad enough let alone seeing them copy pasted later in the game. The other challenges really aren't much better. At best we have one that resembles a minigame in club penguin that sonic boom also used. Theres some that have you go to a location. Sonic can run across the whole map in about a minute but hey, see if you can run 20 feet away in 90 seconds with no hazards in the way.

The super sonic fights are lame. Just like the combat they try to make it seem exciting by throwing a visual mess on screen. But unlike past games where Super Sonic had unique mechanics, you're just doing the same attacks you were doing on grunt enemies. Meaning, the first boss is just holding parry until it attacks, then button mashing. The second is more of an auto scroller where you wait for it to get close enough then button mashing. I thought the third was alright as it had a moment where you have to actually aim an attack for once. The final boss had me speechless in a *I don't know if I can follow this series anymore* kind of way.

The story is boring. I was hyped for Ian Flynn to write it but it seems like he was given nothing to work with. I appreciate that they're trying to tidy up the mess the previous writers left but otherwise it's so melodramatic and unfun. Sonic and Amy especially have very pretentiously modern sounding voice direction. Most cutscenes play out like stiff elder scrolls conversations in presentation.

This game is at best, a unity asset flip.

    * Pop in
    * A disappointing ending * The reuse of old level themes and level layouts for cyber space
    * The system for upgrading with the Elder Koco
    * The way none of your control settings carry over to the cyber space levels
    * And the lack of momentum (more so how jumping or boosting kills your speed)

I will say that there are many improvements in this game from the previous Sonic titles. Some notable improvements and cool things are:

    * The story (more so how each character feels so much more in character)
    * The art direction
    * The controls (which are very customizable and responsive)
    * The open zone (which is fun to explore and discovering new enemies is fun too)
    * The music
*And the boss encounters! (The boss encounters have to be the coolest part of the game)

I would recommend this game if you’re looking to get into sonic. They try many things with this title. Some things work well and some are maybe underwhelming. But the good mostly outweighs the bad I would say.

If they update the game hopefully they fix some of the issues I mentioned. Some small quality of life changes could also be:

    * Option to remove super speed cutscene after 400 rings
    * Option to remove boost sound filter when boosting
    * Ability to replay end island boss encounters
    * Feature to leave 2D section when desired
    * Making the game detect you beat the final boss after beating it
    * and of course revamping the systems for upgrading your speed and ring capacity with the elder Koco

As a Sonic fan it’s an 8 but overall as a videogame fan, with its issues I have to give Sonic Frontiers a 7.

For me Sonic Frontiers is the best way Sonic could start this new age in the Sonic franchise, It does everything in the right way in my opinion.

First of all the story is very good, obviously it isn't a Final Fantasy type of history but is the type of story that you want to see in a Sonic game. It's more or less like Sonic Adventure story and even more interesting because Starfall Islands have many mysteries to solve , the character development is great thanks to Ian Flynn and the story has a lot of lore and backstory of the Chaos Emerlads and other things. Another important point for me is that Sonic make reference to other games quite often so this games helps with the chronology and it helps to know what things are canon and what aren't whlie sometimes you'll be a little confused about that too, for example in some point there are references to Sticks implying that Sonic Boom is canon? In summary the story is pretty good and solid and the more you play, the more you want to know how the story developes.

In terms of gameplay, Sonic responds really really good and is very fun just to run with Sonic across the islands because the movement and the speed are very well made. The exploration in the open zone is the most enjoyable thing to me because you are always doing something, searching for memory tokens to chat and know more about the other characters, fighting with guardians, solving puzzles, is like a giant playground of Sonic-style gamepelay and I really like that, is very fun to explore and run freely as Sonic. The combat is very fun, entertaining and frenetic, the combos are very sick visually and you feel very powerful but in the end the variety of enemies and its mechanics make a great combat and not a button masher. Also the boss battles as Super Sonic are incredibles, maybe too easy because of the amount of rings you have, but the camera, the boss design, the music, Super Sonic himself, the combination of all of the previously mentioned make all of the bosses excellent except for one, the final boss feels more like a minigame than a final battle, at least is fun to play and the music and dialogue make the battle quite epic. The Cyberspace levels are like the bonus stage for this game, is the place where you go with te purpose of getting the Chaos Emeralds and personally i found them very enjoyable like the rest of the tings in this game. There are a lot of Cyberspace levels per island and some have great level design while others have ok level design, some are very long levels meanwhile some last seconds, but in all of them the music is excellent (like in the rest of the game) and they are very replayable because you are going to need keys to get the Chaos Emerald and this keys are only available in Big's shop and in this Cyberspace levels where you need to complete some missions like achieve an S rank, collect all the Red Star Rings and more, every mission is a key and there are four missions per level so sometime you might repeat a level but only if you want, if you don't want to play these Cyberspace levels you can go fishing with Big the Cat. The fishing minigame is simple, when the fish bites the hook you will have to press the button at the right time to catch it. The more fish you catch the more coins you are going to have and this with coins you can buy thinks like missing kocos, Cyberspace keys, seeds to raise Sonic attack and defense and even Eggman voice-logs. The only problem I have with the fishing minigame is that if you spend a lot of time fishing you can go overpowered really quick so I recommend to not fish exceedingly.

In conclusion, I think Sonic Frontiers is an excelent game whether you are fan of our favorite blue hedgehog or not. If I weren't a Sonic fan since my childhood my final score would be 8,6/10 but at a big Sonic fan, my final score is 9/10. The game can have its problems like some menus, the final battle and a bit of the fishing minigame, but definitely i recommend this game a lot, i never got bored during my game because the frenetic combat, the great open-zone, the wonderful music, the incredible boss battles, the story written by Ian Flynn and so much more. I think this is the perfect first step for a new era for Sonic the Hedgehog and i hope the quality of the new games keeps improving more and more.

Sonic himself has no actual sense of weight or inertia; I never properly felt like Sonic was even apart of this world, as most of his movement would either be completely unresponsive, or leave me a little disoriented. It especially terrible during boss fights, with him constantly falling off, or sometimes even THROUGH enemies and bosses. It was borderline impossible to avoid getting Sonic stuck on things, or keep him from slipping through terrain, while the character controller tries desperately to fight with the poorly curated worlds they've put Sonic in.

Combat is even less engaging, being a step down from Unleashed 14 years back. Sonic's skill tree only expands to around 10 moves, few of which are actually more effective at taking out specific enemies than the last, comprised of simple two-button inputs that play a cutscene of Sonic attacking as opposed to actual involved combat. Compared to the Werehog's 40 move loadout, Sonic Frontiers' combos feels as repetitive as you could get, there's little room for experimenting in satisfying ways.

The game's story is only unique to the series in that it practically wears obnoxious melodrama as a badge of honor. If it's not Sonic characters singing their deep-voiced personal woes to you, it's them randomly calling back to previous adventures in an attempt to pad out an otherwise empty and emotionless story. Nothing you'll see here is new to Sonic, and it's almost as if the characters themselves want you to know this, constantly calling back to old games, and sometimes even whining about the issues their stories had in the most direct and tone deaf way possible.

Sonic Frontiers overall just feels like a poor attempt for Sega to move forward with the series, by a group of developers who don't understand why it was so beloved in the first place.

Despite some minor issues here or there, I think Sonic Frontiers is a great game and definitely doesn't deserve the disrespect it's been getting from Digital Trends, Games Radar and of course the Dunkey Fanboys who are review bombing the crap out of frontiers because Dunkey didn't like the game. Just an awesome step from Sonic Forces, this is they way. I think that with more time could have been a masterpierce, but aside from that it was a really fun time playing Sonic Frontiers.

Let's start with the gameplay, from I've been playing the game runs really smoothly without any sort of noticeable lag and/or frame drops. Sonics movement and combat feel really good. Speaking of the combat it's pretty well done it's both simple to learn and a little challenging as you go on. Sonics speed feels great as well it's cuz you can change his speed in the menu when pause the game. Making as fast as slow as he needs to be.

The cyberspace levels are mostly pretty fun and interesting despite the being mostly reused stages but don't let that stop you, in fact the cyberspace stages as well as a lot of other things in the game are optional so you don't have to play them if you don't want to. Gotta say the only thing I don't like about some of the cyberspace stages are the controls or just how it controls sometimes and that they are mostly reused stages but they are optional. There is one problem that could turn a small bit of players off, and its the pop in. I will acknowledge that the pop in can be weird and/or or unsettling for some players but for me I didn't really let it bother that much I just focused on sonic and the beautiful environments. The game is drop dead gorgeous for a sonic game which to be honest sonic games to have always had good aesthetic, but as for this game good lord man the graphics are so freaking good man I love the way each of the islands look so freakin ethereal. I've been playing this game nonstop and I highly recommend you at least consider getting this game it's a blast to play, I won't say much about the story other than "it's really intriguing for a sonic game". Do yourself a favor and pick up Sonic Frontiers don't let anyone try to tell you anything negative about it just play it yourself and experience the magic even if you aren't much of a sonic fan.

    Good-
Movement in the game feels like a joy; the five islands are incredibly well designed speed platforming playgrounds, that are incredibly satisfying to explore and traverse; great music; the world is beautiful and full of things to do; an incredible sense of ambition.
    Bad- A general degree of jank and lack of polish; extremely bad pop-in, and art style that can often feel chaotic;

    Bad-
A general degree of jank and lack of polish; extremely bad pop-in, and art style that can often feel chaotic; very varying quality when it comes to all the various things the game has you do; the linear Cyber Space levels are really underwhelming.

    Thoughts-
There is a lot wrong with Sonic Frontiers, but the things it does right are the ones that matter the most. And it does them just right enough to keep you hooked, and let you truly be drawn in by the sheer brilliance of its core concept. There are also, absolutely, sustained flashes of brilliance in the game’s design, with the open world in particular being an inspired take on Sonic platforming. And more than anything else, it’s just fun to spend time in this game and immerse yourself in it. Yes, Sonic Frontiers isn’t perfect, and it does have a lot of ground to cover in the hopefully inevitable follow-up. But goodness, to me, the things it does right are the ones that will stick with me, and the game’s earnest sense of ambition, and the surprising degree to which it follows through on it, make it a great experience that is, inarguably, some of the best time I have ever had with the Sonic franchise.

Sonic Team and Sega: More please.

This game was amazing, the boss fights were giving me goosebumps as the amazing track started playing, and the open world even though it maybe be kind off empty in hindsight but I think that's what the developers were trying to do because sonic is so fast there is no need to put content in ever inch of the world. But I loved the come so much, can't wait for the next one!! Expand

One of if not the best sonic games in the last 15 years since Unleashed. Its great to see that the writing is a lot more confident in itself and isnt afraid to explore the characters in new ways. While theres a few graphic issues as well as being capped at 60 fps, I don't think it pulls enough from the overall experience to drop what I think is a 10/10 sonic experience. The game was a really good time! It can be rough around the edges in a few areas, But it does so many things right! Down to the Boss fights, Exploration, Combat, Ect. If it can be this enjoyable at this stage, then it makes me extremely exited for the next title!

Huge comeback for the blueblur. one of my favorite series in the sonic universe is the sonic adventure series, and I can safely say that not only it brought out back to that feeling, it did all that and then some. Sonic team finally has the right direction for sonic and I can't wait for what's in store. Don't listen to the over dramatic reviews. 2022 is the year of sonic. Welcome back!

This is the best sonic game we had in a while. The open world was a fresh new take on the sonic series. Sonic controls pretty good and there is a lot to do in the games. The sound track is nice and the boss fights were amazing. Haven’t felt this good with a sonic game in a while.

The idea and vision of the game is absolutely fabulous. In practice, however, the game is brought down by its execution, which you can see through after a short while and then the game has nothing to surprise you with. [Issue#324]

There is nothing remotely redeeming about this game. Nothing that even the most die-hard loyal Sonic Fans would or should advocate for. I hope that one day someone who cares enough about this franchise could give us something-anything of substance. A fan can hope, can’t they? A fan can hope.

Finally, after almost 25years of half measures and mostly mediocre titles, Sonic has finally reached the 3D levels of gameplay it needed to reach. Yes, the pop in is absolutely inexcusable and the ancient gatekeeping grindy methods damage the flow of the game for no reason, but a wonderfully built base exists here, with a highly entertaining adventure in wonderfully melancholic world and a surprisingly well founded story, thankfully clean of Sonic’s annoying 3rd tier friends!
