Sonic Frontiers is a triumph for the series. Sure, it might be a little prickly around the edges, but overall this is a great experience from start to finish. Director Morio Kishimoto and Sonic Team should be proud of what they’ve accomplished. It’s proof that even after 30 years, the Sonic series can still be taken in new and exciting directions, and SEGA can now build on this new game's foundation. Sonic Frontiers provides one of the most enjoyable 3D Sonic experiences of all time, and we're excited for what the future holds for the blue blur.

Sonic: Frontiers is an amazing experience that Sonic fans will eat up. There is so much to do across the title, supported by one of the most interesting Sonic stories in a long time. The new combat and exploration focus opens up Sonic's move set into an almost sandbox environment for players to play with which just feels so right. Obviously, there are a few tiny rough edges as expected with such a game but with a couple of patches this could easily be the best Sonic game out there. Highly recommended!

The usual frustrations stick in regards to the story, plot and tiresome mechanics, but Sonic Frontiers is a marked improvement and one of the best 3D Sonic games in years.

Despite a very rough start and many technical issues is Sonic Frontiers a game that we thoroughly enjoyed. It may very well be an odd form of Stockholm syndrome, being enchanted by the cringe-worthy voice acting, the absurd story, all mixed with some of the best gameplay flow the sonic games ever had in the third dimension. As soon as some of the big boss battles hit, the game shows that it’s much more than just a cheap imitation of Breath of the Wild. A full recommendation however isn’t possible with the technical state the game released in. A few patches are desperately needed for fix some of the glitches and underwhelming textures and animations.

Sonic Frontiers is a fascinating move into open world for the Sonic franchise. It's frequently flawed, and doesn't always match the heights of Sonic's best games. But the fact that it occasionally does reach those highs, while offering a totally new experience, is pretty impressive, and leaves Sonic Team with a strong foundation to improve upon.

I spent a lot of my time with Sonic Frontiers having a ton of fun, even if there were just as many moments where I was frustrated and ready to be done with it. This isn’t a great game, but it’s one that should satisfy Sonic fans desperate for an interesting game starring their favorite blue blur, and for the first time in a long time, it feels like the series may have a sense of direction. There’s still work to be done to make it more than that, but this is a big step in the right direction.

Sonic Frontiers is broken beyond belief with mechanics that barely work and a camera so disastrous it’s literally sickening. The “Open Zones” are disjointed, unpopulated wastelands that do less than nothing to justify their depressing existence. An unpleasant mess, looking and feeling like a mishmash of disparate assets duct taped together, and that’s before we consider the damning amount of recycled content. It’s honestly embarrassing that any professional studio could have made something so cheap, so sad, and so thoroughly incompetent. Even by Sonic Team’s low standards, this is pathetic...Yep, that’s the word for it...Sonic Frontiers is fu..ing pathetic.

I did not expect to love this as much as I did, and this is comin' from someone that Loved Sonic Forces!
But this game is just on another level!
Everythin', the Story, the OST, the Cutscenes, the Gameplay, The Bosses... there wasn't a single thing I disliked 'bout this one, and I'm still in awe on how much this made me feel good!

The Story is Amazing, gameplay is Smooth, Graphics Are Insane for a sonic the hedgehog game. Its Open-zone Fun. *5 Massive Starfall Islands. Open Worlds Are amazing. Its Fantastic. If You Are a Hardcore Sonic Fan Like me, You will Adore this, If You have not played a sonic game before you will love it! The Story Goes As follows. Eggman Make And A.I. Called SAGE. Eggman Tries To Steal Ancient Techonology But Gets Sucked Into "Cyberspace". Sonic,Tails And Amy Go To Kronos Island In Hope Of Finsing The Chaos Emeralds. But Also get sucked into cyberspace. Sonic Arrives in Green Hill But.. Diferent. You will Instantly Realise that The Controls Are Silky smooth. But If You don't Like Them you can change them in the settings. Afterwards you get Droped in the Open-Zone With the Only context being. "Find the Chaos Emeralds Destroy the Titans, Break the Walls Between Dimensions." After You Leave the Tutorial Area, You Find Amy In A Weird Cage. You Give her hearts And She is Kinda saved not really. She is In Between The Cyberspace and The Real world. The only way to save Amy,Tails And Knuckles Is To Destroy The Titans And Find The Chaos Emeralds. The Story is Amazing. Filled with references and Character development. Gameplay is Good in The open zone but in Cyberspace...Not So Much. The Cyberspace Worlds Are Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sacturary, And The New One, A City. They are all mixed. good ones and bad ones. The Open-Zone However Is Fun. Filled With Many Things. Like Missions. If You Do Side Quests The World will Open Up With More Rails Springs Loops And More. and The Map Will Also open Up. Sonic Feels Like sonic again The rest of the cast also. No More "BALDY MC NOSEHAIR!" Or "SONIC HELP ME!''. It Feels like more of the Characters We Saw in unleashed And Black Knight. No More 2010's Stories. Its Back to being Serious. The Music Is awesome. Very good. the Super Sonic Fights Are Spectacular. Go Into This Game Without Spoilers. Its Worth It. No CGI Although The Trailers Had some cg. Play on hard mode for a secret ending. Overall its a 9.6/10. I 100% ed It Because It Left me wanting More.. Expand

Sonic Frontiers is a beautiful step forward for the blue blur and his friends. The combat is varied and satisfying, the story is mysteriousSonic Frontiers is a beautiful step forward for the blue blur and his friends. The combat is varied and satisfying, the story is mysterious and emotional, the voice acting is new while still feeling familiar, and the soundtrack is glorious, whether it's the soft violins of Kronos Island, the EDM music for Cyberspace, or the heavy metal for when you're up against the Titans! In Sonic Frontiers, it's up to you to save Sonic's friends and rescue them from cyberspace, all while trying to overpower the new threats that await. Unlike past Sonic games where you'd speed through levels, Frontiers takes a new approach: Open Zone, and it really pays off! As for the more linear reach the goal levels, they're a part of the new Cyberspace levels. While it's a little hard to get a hold of the, admittedly clunky controls, once you do you'll be S-ranking Cyberspace levels at the fastest speeds possible! Visually, the game looks fairly average, however you can still capture some gorgeous scenery and beautiful views from the Starfall Islands. There are a few gripes I have here and there with this game, but it doesn't knock any points, and they're more nitpicks than anything.

Overall, Sonic Frontiers is a wonderfully crafted game by SEGA and Sonic Team, and is the best 3D Sonic game since Sonic Generations! From its fun and unique combat, to the beautifully designed open zones, to its fast paced Cyberspace stages, to its incredible story, its music, and its beautiful visuals, Sonic Frontiers is worth your time and is a very thrilling game!

10/10... Sonic the Hedgehog is back!
