About the history, they cut some parts, and others were adjusted(or combined), i liked most of it, and the ones i felt were missing, rumors say it will be in future dlcs.     It lacks optimization, it is impossible to play it and I have a 1500 dollar PC, it should run fine like any game I have even with better graphics than RE4

    I was expecting RE 4 remake to be the next big thing, and I played the original and considered it at the time as one of the best RE game ever (until RE7 that is). Sure the whole thing has the whiz bang extras that RE Engine entails, yet when I was playing it, there is something missing in the translation. It is not the 'second coming' that the critics are saying it is. This game feels so much better than the original, they’ve improved the controls (especially on pc, the classic controls were honestly abysmal). They’re absolutely gorgeous, and it runs surprisingly well (for me, at least. I’ve heard others have had performance so don’t take my word for it. The way the characters are written have been improved from the original as well— the most notable changes being with Ashley. Much more likable and less annoying than the original. Combat has also been improved on, especially the close combat. A new mechanic with parrying has been added, where if you press a specific button at the right time, you can parry *almost* any attack and follow up with a kick or bullets to the brain. Of course there are some exceptions, like with some bosses, projectiles (although you can parry axes that are thrown at you and arrows that are shot at you, surprisingly) and of course some attacks like grabs. Capcom made this a great remake with greatly improving the original, also keeping and polishing the same values it had while, on top of that, removing some of the less enjoyable aspects the original had (like those quick time events, which were super unnecessary in my opinion.)… Expand

    I had so much fun with it. The thematic of the game is fantastic and maybe less scarier than the others. Maybe halfway to the end gets scarier but so much fun with it. Really good action horror game.

    I'm a huge RE fan, I've played all the games. I was worried about this remake and because the original is legendary, I knew that it will split people into two camps - The Old Generation and The New Generation of gamers.

    I finished the game in 18 hours and was BLOWN AWAY!! It's very loyal to the original game and I had lots of fun playing it.     This is the best Remake game I've ever played! I like that they made a relationship between Leon and Ada better and it's also connected with the events of RE2. My favourite boos fight was with Krauser, it was much better than in the original and I love the way they did with parry mechanics. They cut some of the original content like the U-3 boss, the laser scene, lava room or the extra content Separate Ways which I'm sure will be a DLC. The biggest difference between the original and remake is that it's not that funny like the original, but I was still laughing my a** off.
    Sure, it has some imperfections like the voice of Ada or some bugs but it's not so horrible that I would condemned the game like most of the people here. I don't get it, this game has everything:

    PUZZLES
    JOKES
    ACTION
    SCARY
    TREASURES
    MANY TYPES OF ENEMIES
    BOSS FIGHTS
    STEALTH
    etc...

    I've read review from the users here and they were complaining about a lot of enemies that are frustrating because they're trying to grab you all the time, that's like I would go to the cinema on Paranormal Activity and complain that it was scary WTF? RE is an Action Horror game that's supposed to be scary and frustrating. I've also seen users giving 1/10 review because the game difficulty was too hard for them, go cry to your mama babies!     It is a masterpiece, a perfect game, I love and enjoy it so much, and I don't care about the OG okay!!! That old game is good but this remake is a masterpiece of its own. I don't think I have any complaints about this game. I can't wait for the DLC. I wish I had more free time from work to play. This game is so good I want to keep playing more.

    Fake reviews bombing the score simply because no panties and cut jokes that, even in 2005, were weird and out of place. Go outside for once edge lords its ok. This game was incredible. If you didn't enjoy it as much as the original that's ok, go play that one then. Simple.

    For once I agree with the critics and disagree with the wasters of fan reviewers here who are an embarrassment. This game is fantastic. It's exactly what I was hoping for. Beautiful graphics, 29 weapons, dozens upon dozen enemy variations. The game took me 19 hrs 40 minute's to complete the resident evil 3 remake took 7 hours. Far more value.     This is the best remake I've ever played, this along with Final Fantasy VII is how a REMAKE should be done, faithful to the original, while adding extra content

    Simply AMAZING!!

    Can't wait to play The Mercenaries again!

    Best remake ever alongside Dead Space. Ada's voice sounds like it was recorded on a Nokia but other than that it was fantastic and improved upon the original. One of the GOATs.

    Story is somehow as same as original even dialogue Such a WoW even in save rooms sometimes merchant is whispering the music of original RE4R.

    Knife has more uses in here You can parry even attack of Dr.Salvador The last for the least Great game

    A great remake of an existing great game, the only sad part I find is the troll reviews that for some unknown and most likely stupid reason they review bomb the game, at least on Steam for PC you only see verified purchase reviews with an overwhelming 97% positive reviews, that alone speaks volumes.

    So yeah ignore the idiots and play this amazing game.

    Great game, I´m really glad that it is an experience that can stand side by side to the original without trying to supplant it. My one gripe was Ada´s voice acting was not very good but other than that, it was amazing.

    A near perfect update of an already near perfect game. The new visuals and scenery make the game utterly terrifying. Shooting feels very tight and the game controls incredibly well. The story has been updated to fit the remake timeline and its great to see Leon's and Ada's actors back creating consistency that the Resident Evil series never really had much of. Already on my second playthrough.

    Everyone review bombing this game is dumb. This is an amazing remake that is meant to be more serious and a better sequel to re2. If you want the game to be goofy and not take itself seriously play the original, I love the original but the remake is better as a continuation of re2.

    What losers are giving this game low scores? It’s one of the best remakes ever made. I love the original, it’s one of my favorite games, and this remake does it justice and then some. The haters are probably just mad you can’t look up Ashley’s skirt anymore. Weirdos.

    As much as this site is full of trolls and bots giving low ratings, this game remains a masterpiece and a great homage to the original. Improved art direction, graphics and mainly the characters of the story, which became more consistent and well-executed, in addition to bringing a more challenging gameplay. One of the best in the franchise.

    Game itself is very good, near-masterpiece. Easily one of the best games Capcom has ever made and one of the best RE games of all time. Only real thing missing is U-3 boss fight. Because Remake literally improves everything else. Also i'm pretty sure that U-3 will be in the DLC, so hopefully soon, even that problem is solved.

    I won't write too much. But I can definitely recommend the game to everyone who liked the other remakes. It isn't a complete new game (I mean its a remake) but it changed enough to feel good to play today. For me is absolutely amazing. Can't way for the separate ways dlc and later the next Remake.

    You can tell some of these bad reviews are from people who can't play survival horror games lol. The cut content does suck but I'm sure it will be added down the road. The game is a masterpiece shooting is sharp combat is fun story is spot on with minor differences.

RE engine visuals are top notch, music and sound effects add a lot to the atmosphere, gameplay is superior to the original by adding a few things (parry system/instant weapon swap/aim while moving) and voice acting is also better except Ada which seems a little out of place. Areas have been changed a bit, especially in the castle section,a few things added and some are missing, though not as much as RE3 and bosses are all more memorable and intense encounters compared to the original, especially Krauser. Ashley is still inept beyond words but her section is quite good. Anyone who hasn't played the original, the remake is a must buy. If you did play though it depends whether or not you hold this game in high regard, just like me. In that case go ahead and grab it. It was a masterpiece back in 2005 and it still is, even more now with this updated version. Finally a videogame of few words and much gameplay. Action packed - moody - bloody - intense.

    PS. People that review bomb it are halfwits, no matter if you think it was worth the remake or not ,or you don't like the new voice acting and some minor changes in dialogue, that doesn't make the game bad.    … Expand

As a fan who was introduced to the series from the og Resident evil 2 and has played just about every mainline and spinoff titles, this one may be one of my top 3 games out there, equal or slightly below the RE2 Remake. The game runs buttery smooth on my PS5 and the controls are pretty good, the voice acting from almost everyone is excellent although Ada had a pretty lacking performance. Ashley was way more of an enjoyable character than in the original and the games atmosphere felt a slight bit more eerie than in the original. Where i'd say the original Leon felt very A-lister action movie hero, this new Leon had shown a bit less of that and more of a survivor of traumatic events sort of demeanor, which is a nice change. They did cut some things but i feel they had been cut for good reason, and one i am glad they cut was the Quick Time Events. They were my least favorite part of the og RE4 and i was certainly hoping they would be cut. The re-vamped knife combat was refreshing and the gunplay was so crisp. Overall i think they went above and beyond with this game and i can only hope to see Leon's return in the next Resident Evil game with this new Leon because they have smashed it outta the park.… Expand

    Despite me being someone who said they should not remake this game, I cannot deny that this improves upon the original in so many ways in terms of combat, player choices, weapons, enemy behaviour and variety, scale and atmosphere. It's an even bigger game, clealry made with love and respect for the original.     Capcom managed to improve in every respect a game that was now crushed by the weight of years. The action remained a central point of the production but is now more balanced, plus the game has lost that excessive b-movie character. thank you Capcom

    This remake is literally everything i could have hoped for and possibly wanted, some cut content here and there but overall I feel like this was done to make the pacing go from exceptional to perfect. Definitley in my top 5 games.

    Absolutely Loved this game, stayed so true to the original while still keeping its own feel and not feeling like a copy and paste. The game is so immersive and fun and it is one of very few games that even after you’ve just completed it there’s still so much replayablility, Highly Recommend this game. 10/10

    there is counterpoints in the technical aspects, like the laser sight no longer being a genuine 3D model but just another element of the UI or the effect of bullets on enemies being much more focused towards the survival horror of Resident Evil 2 while this is an action game with a very unsettling tonality, but an action game in the end.

    overall it's an excelent game with brilliant organic moments, its engine constantly makes out of every battle an ultra violent frenetic scenario and the soundtrack brings nothing but even more atmosphere and tension into it. i won't give it a 10 because i think no work will ever deserve a perfect note.    … Expand

I played the original last year and even tho I really enjoyed it I felt like the castle and the island acts (especially the island) were a little boring. This remake changed that a bit. The castle section has a horror vibe to it that the original didn't and the island act is more enjoyable than the 2005 one with changes to pacing that helps the overall feeling. The gameplay feels almost perfect, I just think the enemies shouldn't be so spongie. If I had to rate the 3 acts (location, bosses, immersion) it would be:

    Village - 10/10 (Peak gaming, no other game gives you the vibe this act gives.)
    Castle - 9/10 (Sounds like a dumb location but it somehow works well in the remake)
    Island - 7.5/10 (When you think about an island in a horror game you think something like dead island or a desert island. This is a military based one that breaks the immersion the other 2 acts gave you and almost turns the game into call of duty.)    … Expand

    In my experience with the ps5 version, I found problems with textures and frames dropping often in every mode available.

    I am disappointed by game play, music, art style, dialogue, voice actors, and cut content. The game cannot in any way be a replacement for the original 2005 version, and i doubt it will be remembered in a few months.

    Se apega muy bien al concepto del original, y si bien algunas partes han cambiado, sí que supieron cómo adaptarlas fielmente, haciendo incluso más coherente y "lógico" lo que en el original parecía sacado de una película de acción (como el hecho de correr de una piedra gigante).

    Disfruté a más no poder del gameplay, y estoy totalmente seguro que me jugaré muchísimas más veces este juegazo como lo hice con el original.

So to compensate player advantages enemies are faster and a little bit stronger. There's much to tell(crafting, stealth which puts you at advantage at the start of the combat, different cases and charms etc...) but you get the idea. You will find out by yourself.

    Cons: I'll start with a more subjective problem which is enemy stagger. In the original 1 headshot would immidiately stagger enemy so you could melee it here It needs several shots(Maybe It happens only for hardcore mode which I played first time) which I had problem getting used to it but that issue slowly became less problematic. Second there is no much content after finishing the game, Capcom is planning to release mercenary mode later as a free dlc but I hate this behaviour from modern companies not delivering the full package.

    I recommend to buy it even now. If you have not played RE 4 before play original first and then remake both will worth your time.    … Expand

    An absolutely fantastic remake, everything I could have wanted from the single player campaign. Beautifully done locations, epic set pieces and boss battles, all the cheesy memorable characters (Ada, Luis, Merchant, Ramon) and dialogue you expect. Well done Capcom. Even Ashley was less annoying than before. Hoping for Mercenaries mode.

And lastly, sometimes enemies are in the middle of an attack and the same enemy grabs you, even when their animation was not completed, this feels strange. So my opinion, it’s a good game but I would prefer not to be the remake of re4, they messed up a lot of things, but hopefully they will patch them soon. In that case I’ll edit my review.… Expand

    This game truly is amazing. It captures the essence of the OG but still makes it feel like a whole new game. There is some content cut from it but I still give it a 10/10 because there’s so much you can do a thorough play through can get you 14 hours at max to get everything in your first play through. And it doesn’t stop there you can do challenges to unlock cosmetics for Leon and AshleyThis game truly is amazing. It captures the essence of the OG but still makes it feel like a whole new game. The lack of ammo and bullet sponge enemies and looking for keys to so many locked doors isn't fun to me BUT assist mode makes it work for me.     Look, I've bought both re4 at launch on the GameCube and on launch on the ps5 and truly, it recaptures and even betters the original. The controls feel great. Smooth and responsive. I love the new combat system. The parrying is a great move.I also love the new boss fights. They feel grand while still feeling justified and not just pandering.     1. The story
    This is a no spoiler review so I can't get much into details but the story feels like a step downwards from the original. To be honest, it's a big step down from the original.
    2. The Voice Acting
    These two are kinda intertwined with each other but the VA is a main part of what makes the story feel bad. The voice acting for some characters is just.... unbearable. It's so hard to listen to two of my favourite characters (Ada Wong And Leon Himself ) have some really cringy and cheesy line delivery. I think the worst offender of this is Ada Wong. I feel like turning off the game or just muting my tv everytime she comes on the screen. There are some good VAS though. Like I think Ashley is 100% better than the original.

    Summary:
    Overall, I think resident evil 4 is great. Good action and horror, good combat system and pretty great graphics. There are some negatives though like the okay story and cringeworthy dialogue delivery. Other than that, Resident Evil 4 Is an incredible remake that I highly recommend for new and old fans alike.

    The story of the game is a mediocre story, the gameplay is very enjoyable and attractive, in terms of visuals, it is equal to Cross Gen 2023 games and has a stunning visual, the main boss fights are very similar to each other. The sound design of the game is wonderful, the enemies have a good variety and only one new type of enemy has been added to the remake compared to the original version.

    Resident Evil 4 Remake not only does right by its original source of inspiration, but it also sets a high bar for what modern day remakes can be. All components of the story have been finetuned into a more well-thought out package, and that’s before mentioning the game’s full use of today’s graphical prowess to deliver a more terrifying interpretation of rural Spain. The core gameplay also retains what made it so great back in the day, but with modern amenities such as a parrying system, quick-select for weapons and the ability to run. And despite the new improvements, the increased aggressiveness of the enemies ensures that the game never feels like a cakewalk. I don’t know who still needs to be convinced at this point, but Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece that I cannot recommend enough.
