IGN, which gave six points for similar reasons, is being criticized for harsh criticism, and the reviewer's story is not much different from what I felt.     Really good game, but in the end it’s a little disappointing. Also it is weird, that sometimes you crush big stones by hand, and next minute you can’t get through the wooden branch… weird for 2022 game

    The game would be much better if you get rid of all this dialoguesand gibbirish talk, incredebly annoying. Completely impossible to play this again because of this issue, and playing as son and freya was not fun at all.

    I’m halfway through and always bored with Loki gameplay. First game was 10/10 but did not like this game that well.

    They should have renamed it to Loki/Atreus instead of God of War.

    Don’t get me wrong, there are few sequences that I have absolutely loved but game just feels flat apart from those sequences.

My biggest issue with this game is that it is boring to play and that the writing is a huge step down from the first game. Game feels like a hallway simulator with really bad puzzle design. From the first 10 minutes beginning with being chased by Freya, to then Fenrir passing away mixed with the emotional music. I cried many times whilst playing during cutscenes. I also want to say this game is gorgeous to look at, from the beginning being in Midgard, to the rest of the realms you get to travel to. Seeing the dynamic between Kratos and Atreus becoming even stronger. Watching Atreus come into his own character and also is playable with his own move-set which is super satisfying to use. The core of this game for me is the story and the characters, which I believe this game pulls off flawlessly. You will lose hours playing this epic adventure, I have so many side missions to complete as of writing this review which will add even more hours to my already lengthy playthrough. Now to spoilers, Tyr being Odin actually took me by surprise because when he stabbed Brok, I audibly screamed because I really cared about him. Then seeing Sindri's reaction later on, from being a germ-free, lovable dwarf, to a vengeful dwarf filled to the brim with anger and hate. I felt that, he lost his only family, and he has nothing else now. Also taking out Heimdall was such a joy, that I would do it over and over again in a more brutal fashion. This game finishes the Norse Mythology of God Of War exceptionally well, I highly recommend this game. This is my game of the decade, I have never been this immersed in a world as beautiful and as packed with content as this. Please buy this!… Expand

    If you keep bragging about graphics, it's a complete same feel for me. It's all about resolution and texturing in the game so don't exaggerates thing. It's already a good graphics since 2018 and it's the same for me for Ragnarok graphics.

    Combat is still the same but with some improvement where you can wield 3 weapons now and you can play around with your shield as well this time around. On top of that, you can play with Freya, although Freya is overall has the same behavior as Atreus in combat perspective but its just nice addition. They completely take many inspiration from TLOU2 where you can play as Atreus in this game.

    Exploration of course a lot better with the addition of chaos blade to get around the area. No more slow ascending and descending the wall. Well, it still there but its almost none so it's fabulous because that's the reason why I hate 2018 GOW. On top of that, you can explore all nine realms, so more area to explore as well as puzzle which always great since the traditional GOW.

    Now for story. It's wonderfully written and executed BUT it's weird for me as the characterization of some characters seems inconsistent along the way. Some part is very strong and "wow" me which makes me keep saying "Did Naughty Dog take part in the narrative of this game?" For example when Kratos go home with Atreus after Brok is murdered, the way Kratos explain the situation to Atreus completely reminds me of how Naughty Dog style of story-telling. And many more of that situation which make me attach to the story of Ragnarok better than 2018 GOW.
    But, some part seems off for me, like Freya. Well, they build that relationship with Kratos helping her to retrieve her power back but really? Its that easy? The change from Freya is just too easy and sudden friendship being build there. 2nd, Kratos also very inconsistent in this game, he keep admitting he's wrong after he take certain action, like when he went to Asgard with "vengeance" in mind where Atreus mention before that it's all about justice but Kratos denies it. Then, along the way, Kratos realize "Yeah, I'm wrong, it's not vengeance but it's justice for Odin", like what?

    I know you trying to create the human version of Kratos where Kratos is more emotional and keep positioning himself as parent rather than a God but for me it's completely make Kratos characterization seems weaker for me than the 2018 GOW. Yes, he is a father and God at the same time and that personality might be the reason of his inconsistency in this game but personally I hate that moment.

    Overall a wonderful game and great sequel in Norse Saga of GOW. For Santa Monica, I do think you can stop here for GOW, if you are trying to make another GOW game, the expectation will be very high which might be very demanding and challenging as you cannot remove Kratos and go with another "God" character.    … Expand

    Really nice, beautiful and fun game. The downsize is the lack of novelty and repetitive enemies. The story is good, but a little predictable. I felt that the developers lacked courage to create unexpected events in this game. But it is for sure a recommended game.

Bad pacing, with very slow sections of the game, just “walk for a long time and kill some enemies and then get to a cutscene” rinse and repeat “go here and fetch this magical item” extremely boring.     I expected more from this game. Sadly, it feels like a copy and paste from God of War 2018. The lack of innovation really hurts the narrative and dull gameplay. Once you look past the hype, this game is just another linear action game with a decent narrative.

    lutas contra Deuses so teve tres deuses o jogo inteiro . o evento Ragnarok foi uma piada pra Franquia .poderia pega uns 4-5 Beserkrs do jogo e coloca como Boss no evento Ragnarok (cade os deuses de Asgard ??? puta que pariu ) tem 12 berserks pegasse apenas 4 e colocava como deuses no Ragnarok .

    kratos nao mata mais deuses ? mas precisa matar pra ter luta de Boss, so ter criatividade ??
    Odin foi o PIOR boss final da franquia meu deus foi horrivel .

    When i played God of War 4 (2018), being my first GOW i played, i was amazed, an exceptional game, almost a masterpiece, but then God of War Ragnarök released and showed how a sequel should be made.

    Now, without spoiling anyone, the Story is a complete 10/10, no doubt on that, as the GOW 4 was, this one reveal a whole new level on storytelling for me.     Now, without spoiling anyone, the Story is a complete 10/10, no doubt on that, as the GOW 4 was, this one reveal a whole new level on storytelling for me.

    Combat was a little bit better on this one compared to the last game, and to be honest i think it is not a mindblowing upgrade to the last GOW, it is just, better if you know what i mean. Sometimes there's fights when it does not feels it should be one, feels like that fight is there for filling more time into de game, and maybe that point it's just on me but i kinda felt it like that, for me combat is an straight 8/10.

    There is 2 characters that evolves and take part of the great God of War Ragnarök story, and they are Brok and Sindri, i can't explain without spoilers how this 2 characters are so important and made its way to the player's heart, truly a great character evolution between the last and previous game.

    For me the game lasted about 25 hours without the side missions, straight to the story, and its ok, i mean, 25 hours are fine, i struggle with time to play videogames and i feel the time was right.

    And the ending of this game is just glorious, i don't want to talk about it much but it is just incredible.

    God of War Ragnarök is truly a masterpiece, impressive how they manage to pull this off but Santa Monica Studio, you really made it, and i'm thankful for your work.    … Expand

Ragnarok improves on what was arguably the only significant flaw in the previous game - monster variety, especially mini bosses. It also improved on exploration - the world is now fully backtrackable (at least where collectibles are concerned so you can't miss anything). It's not grindy at all as some people say, maybe if you wanna try different builds so you want to upgrade the gear for it but not really to just 100% it. Game is fun and challenging albeit very easy to platinum (played on Give Me No Mercy). Companions are also more involved in the fights which is nice. Draupnir spear was a cool addition to Kratos' arsenal. But...

    Now for the negatives - I dunno why developers tend to put this in their games lately but it really grinds my gears - the voice line clues! (from your companions in this game). Like why? I get into a new puzzle area and companions starts spitting out clues before I can even have a proper look around. Annoying.
    Some collectibles were made very easy to spot (ravens and treasure maps locations).
    Few bugs mostly just companion getting stuck on a piece of environment when prompt to interact with a quest item. One bigger bug was when Freya just stopped doing anything when fighting Gná.
    What was probably the biggest letdown of this game was the final mission. It was a war against the whole Asgard and it felt just like any other mission. Most of the war stuff happened in the background if at all. Odin and Thor could also be a bit more difficult to beat.

    But the absolute worst part was the involvement of real life political agendas. That's never good.    … Expand

Lo habeis puesto forzosamente porque SI existen interpretaciones de Angrboda ,de su madre y de su abuela. Esto es lo que ocurre cuando crees que un juego va a tener altas especativas y te encuentras con un juego sobrevalorado.Comprendo que las franquicias deben renovarse,pero esta no fue el caso para GOW ragnarok. A nivel de musica GOW 2018 es bastante superior. My absolute wonder as the story reached new heights of story-telling, new innovation in the combat, and absolutely stunning voice-acting is simply too great to even explain. The playability even after the game is completed is about asAs I went through this masterpiece of a game I constantly had 3 things stuck with me. The playability even after the game is completed is about as good as 2018, with the optional bosses not being as great. Everything about this game is what I would have hoped for, and even more.     If you played the God of War games from the early 2000’s, and are thinking about seeing what all the hype is about, you may not like this game. Kratos isn’t nearly as angry and talks about his feelings. It's much less about the gods and more about relationships. If you liked God of War 2018 as much as I did, you still may not like this version. The story is memorable, but you're given plenty of time to explore and admire. Unless you've been searching for spoilers, you will not see many moments coming.     The first one was 10/10, this one is an 11/10. It took everything good from the first game, expanded it and added even more amazing stuff. Enemy variety is improved, bosses are very fun. Story is amazing and and amazing end to the Norse saga. To the people that say this adds nothing ew, just show that you didnt even finish the game. There are new weapons, new playable character. IN ASGARD. Loki is the god of liar, but the most overwhelming lies were from ODIN. It is NOT a masterpiece, it's not even as good as 3rd or even 4TH. Best bossfights were with THOR AND HEIMDALL. 2 OUT OF ALL. Console players are **** on Elden Ring where I can count at least 4 good boss fights. wtf. How does it work?     Foi uma das melhores experiências da minha vida em jogos. Tudo funciona bem e tem diversos momentos incomparáveis com qualquer outro entretenimento de tão lindos e emocionantes. Jogo IMPECÁVEL. Gostaria de ainda mais exploração livre mas entendo e vi esforço nesse aspecto.

    The 2018 GOW was a masterpiece. This game is not, not even close. Character development is so bad it is laughable. Story is simplistic and predictable - and with plot holes, no less. Level design is soo boring.
    There were reports developers panicked half a year ago, being convinced the game was trash - well, it's not trash, but it is very average at best.

Selten hat mich ein Spiel so begeistert, weshalb ich es auch als einen der großen Meilensteine der Videospiel Geschichte beschreiben würde. Dieses Spiel reiht sich neben The Last of us (Part 1 und Part 2), Zelda BotW und The witcher 3 ein. Aber warum das ganz? Fangen wir mal mit den offensichtlichsten an Technik (10/10): Auch wenn hier nicht alles aus der PS5 herausgeholt wird, gerade neben A plage tale Requiem ist die Grafik eine Wucht. Nicht nur in dem verrückten Detailgrad, sondern auch die Flüssen 60 FPS sind einfach nur wohlwollende für die Augen. Was Partikeleffekte angeht, steht dieses Spiel auch eine Ratchet and Clank und Returnal in nichts nach. Das dieses Spiel wahlweise auch on 120 FPS läuft ist echt eine krasse Zugabe, die leider von einigen Videospiel Magazinen sehr runter geredet wird. Hinzu kommt, kein einziger Bug oder Absturz. Gamplay (10/10): Die Kämpfe sind richtig schön wuchtig und werden zu keiner Sekunde langweilig. Verblüffend wenn man bedenkt, dass man eigentlich nur drei waffen hat. Diese unterscheiden sich aber zum Glück sehr voneinander und spielen sich auch deshalb sehr anders. Auch das man hin und wieder zu Atreus wechselt, bringt eine schöne Abwechslung ins Gamplay. Die Charaktergestalltung ist ausreichend komplex und spaßig zugleich. Story (10/10): Ich habe hier und da gelesen, dass einige meinen, dass die Story schlecht geschrieben ist. Ich glaub viel mehr haben die Leute ein Problem damit, sich in die Charaktere hineinzuversetzen. Auch wenn Atreus hier und da etwas nervig zu sein scheint, sein Verhalten ist zu jeder Zeit nachvollziehbar. Auch die Dialoge sind fantastisch geschrieben. Vor allem aber, ist die Charakterentwicklung von Kratos einfach nur großartig und hat mich hier und da zu Tränen gerührt. Wie episch hier vor allem alles inszeniert ist, Wahnsinn ehrlich…

    Atmosphäre (10/10): Nun zu meinem Highlight, die Atmosphäre. Einige Schauplätze haben mir echt die Kinnlade nach unten schallen lassen. Wahnsinn was man sich hier ausgedacht hat. Viel beeindruckender finde ich aber, wie stimmig alles ist und wie nachvollziehbar die Welt gestaltet ist. In Svartalvhame (Land der Zwerge) hatte ich in den ersten Minuten das Gefühl, mit meinem Boot überall anhalten zu können. Mit welcher Detailverliebtheit das alles gemacht wurde, macht mich echt sprachlos. Fazit: Für mich wie gesagt ein Meilenstein der Videospielgeschichte und eindeutig das Game of the Year 2022    … Expand

The next and arguably the best part of Ragnarok is its story. Overall the story is very good, In some moments you're laughing along with the characters, and the very next moment you could be ready to tear up. The characters are top notch and some really grow on you. (character development is great in this game) After that, another great aspect of Ragnarok, or RR for short is its side missions/side content. If I'm being honest for a story-driven game there aren't many games I can think of with more meaningful side content aside from the witcher 3. While this game is pretty dang good all in all it is by no means perfect and I'll be discussing those shortcomings next. I know I said the story is great and it is, however the same can't be said for the pacing of the story. There are a few events that pull you out of the game (if you played you know what I'm talking about.) These moments don't ruin the game in any way, but they can be boring at times when they take longer than needed.
    The puzzles are back and in full effect. I really don't mind puzzles and I do find them enjoyable at times. However, there are MANY more puzzles in RR compared to GOW 2018 which is not really what I'm wanting in a game such as this. This next issue gets fixed as the game goes on, but the issue is Kratos doesn't feel as powerful as he should against normal enemies. I know I was asking the game to be more challenging when playing on give me no mercy difficulty however Kratos the god of war should feel much more powerful facing little dinky enemies than he does. Idk if it's just the difficulty or the game in general. This issue does get better as you level up and unlock new abilities/gear though so it's nothing major just frustrating at times.
    That is all for the negatives not many like I said a very solid game all in all.
    Overall this game is very good and if you want a game you can sink a lot of hours into and have fun destroying enemies with satisfying combat and great story components with many hours of enjoyable side content this game is for you! (Don't be sorry be better!)    … Expand

    GoW ragnarök is based on classic Sony formula which turns games to boring simulator. It's repetitive and has lots of puzzles, not much new mechanics for a sequel. Game has 20-25 hours gameplay and just 10 hours is a pure cutscene.

    Santa Monica should transfer this game's licences to Naught Dog.

Excelente juego, mejora en cuanto a variedad de enemigos y bosses respecto al de 2018, Kratos sigue desarrollandose como personaje, además de cerrar el arco de personaje que se abrió en 2018. Sin embargo algunos cambios en los personajes no están del todo bien hechos, un ejemplo de esto es el cambio de actitud de Freya hacia Kratos, que pasa de querer matarlo a aliarse a él, el problema radica en que su cambio de actitud es poco natural y no se siente orgánico el que pase a ser tan cercana en tan poco tiempo respecto en lo que dura el juego. Aún así es un juega o y sin duda alguna un firme candidato a Goty del 2022… Expand

Story was great, depth of character was great, combat was great (perhaps not ideal fo h'n's fans) etc. It lacked enemy variety, boss fights and half the realms. Ragnarok provides on most.

    However, it feels like the devs tried to fit so much in a game that it ended up feeling sloppy or not as polished as its predecessor. I liked some side quests, they were decent. Berzerker fights are an adequate replacement of the valkyries for example. Though the squirrel was incredibly boring and out of place. This isn't Marvel. 2018 was a drama while this one feels way lighter. A similar example is Lunda, the new dwarf. She feels really superficial, forced and there is nothing to create a bond between her and the player. And that could be a summary for the whole game. Freyr is shallow and cocky, 'Tyr' was pathetic and really contributed next to nothing, the guy who used to be the boar (WTF santa monica) was so out of place and of no actual importance, Thrud is boring and in general all character have only one side and that's it.

    As far as the story is concerned, it feels like it was written not because the devs had something in their mind but because they had to release something about ragnarok. The game tries to touch so many things though it ends up not actually touching most of them. The guy who was the boar. Why was he important? why couldn't he be just a regular guy and he had to be the boar? The shrine at the end of the game. WTF does it show that's so important? Why and how did Faye opposed her people? How by hidding their future she allowed them to shape it (regardless of them doing exactly what she hid from them). Why doesn't Atreus share the fact that he saw his father die with Kratos? Also, in many occassions people reffer to the prophecy while appart from Faye being a giant, Atreus being Loki and Kratos dying in the end, nothing else was shown.

    Although the worst part must be playing as Atreus. The most indifferent character ever. Archery rarely does any good and, while holding only a bow, most of the times you end up spamming melee attacks. He goes to Asgard and uses Thor in fetch quests that actually have little meaning. This guy killed his two sons and yet Thor doesn't do anything while they go on missions together. Odin, the all-father needs the help of a teenager to unravel the secrets of the mask. The BOY does so in a matter of seconds while Odin has been on it since the dawn of time. How does the fire giant screws over prophecy and becomes ragnarok by sheer will and the blades of chaos? How does the Ragnarok being comes to end? How did Angrboda shape the ending as she said? What happens with the giants trapped in the marbles? All this is bad writing.

    Finally, the armor sets are so few and all so **** ugly! 2018 had some ugly pieces but some were ok. In ragnarok it's like they held a competition in the office and the 10 ugliest armors would make it in the game.    … Expand

    it also offered me great and rewarding gameplay that feels like Kratos is getting back in shape with his new brutal executions great bosses especially in Give me God of War difficulty and tight yet responsive controls and amazing enemy variety

    i was expecting the game to be good but this turned out to be much more than that in 22 years i had never played a single game that came close to my favorite game of all times but Ragnarok did exactly that this is definitely my favorite game of the last two decades and i cannot recommend it enough    … Expand

    Why would you change the mechanics that were so fun the first time. Enemies will be the same because you are in the same places for a good amount of it. That is like saying Arkham City is bad because it is the same but in a bigger area.

    This game is bad because playing as Atreus is horrible. There is nothing worse than getting through a good mission, only to have another Atreus freak    Why would you change the mechanics that were so fun the first time. Lets ride around on the back of a ram and pick up **** for 30 minutes rather than just tell the story at a campfire or something. I put the game aside the 3rd time I had to play as Atreus, just not what I want to play and really slow.

    The story was great the first time, but really who wants to play a game where the supporting character is a whiny teenager. Parents sure as hell don't and neither does anyone else. "waaah, you aren't listening to me...I know everything...I am going to do what I want." PTSD for parents and really who wants that **** especially repeated multiple times.    … Expand

    increible juego!! atmosfera y paisajes que te dejan con la boca abierta. El combate es una delicia que junto con el dualsence te sientes realmente poderoso.
    En cada rincón hay algo que descubrir. El juego esta lleno de jefes y nuevos enemigos que hace disfrutar aun mas, la historia es ESPECTACULAR.

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
