    I WISH I could love it. But the inconsistent quality in animation, quest design, and writing, are just making it impossible... I loved the start, then it got quite boring and the quests very much felt like optional side quests (where it's ok if they are lower quality), but they were main story quests!

    Characters don't get properly animated, just stand around awkwardly like they are rag dolls, and it kills immersion. I also hated that there were hidden loading times, despite playing on PS5 - all thanks to the game coming out on PS4 as well. What a waste!
    The ending of the game however really shocked me. It feels like it was completed in a rush, and so many questions are left unanswered! Feels like this is part 2 of 3, but they already said there will not be a part 3... I am so disappointed!    … Expand

    My personal favorite game of all time. I absolutely loved every single aspect of this game, from story to narrative style, to bossfights, to gameplay, to graphics, to bgms. Voice actors did an amazing job on their performances.
    This is a masterpiece.

    Buen juego y buen termino de la saga nórdica, hubieron cosas de la mecánica que debieron quizá cambiar. Pero en si el juego se siente como una buena terminación. Recomendado si juegas ambos juntos.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is truly disappointing and complete rubbish. It has been a long time since I was so disappointed and even more so with a franchise that has been part of my life. Santa Monica sold us one thing and what we played was another. We were promised Ragnarok, what we got were a couple of small battles in the final chapter, and the worst final battle in the history of the franchise. This game laughs at the oldest fans and pisses on Norse mythology. Cory Barlog and Santa Monica forgot what made GOW great and what made Kratos an excellent character. It wasn't his violence and his desire for revenge that we liked, but how he was sinking deeper into his misery while we controlled him and thought: this isn't right, but it's super epic. And this only for trying to forget the sins he committed. Sins that are completely forgotten in Ragnarok, and leave Kratos as a mere "godkiller". But Kratos is not the only one destroyed in this game, Atreus was too, who throughout his path in the story does not represent at all what would end up happening at the end, all the time we played with him, in the end it was worthless. Freya - A boring character whose ending is literally the same as Ellie's in TLoU2. Jormungandr is completely left out of the background here. Fenrir is useless, Freyr is useless, Angrboda is useless, Surtr is also useless, Sif is also useless, Thrud is also useless, "Tyr" is also useless, so many characters completely wasted. And poor Thor who is made into a family drama, and then his two battles are exactly the same. How cool it would have been to see Jormungandr and Thor fight and then Kratos and Atreus would join them in the fight and kill Thor on top of his arch-enemy, but no, Santa Monica wanted to play save. Then we have the most **** up character at the end: Odin, who was on his way to being almost equal to Zeus as a villain, being a manipulator and megalomaniac, and in the end he ends up being **** suffering the same treatment as Thor and his 2 identical battles, but this time in the end nobody wants to kill him, so a dwarf kills him, literally. Anyway, first I was going to give this game a 7, but then I thought about the hours I spent in slow and boring chapters, with repetitive puzzles and enemies, that I couldn't even do the combos I could do in the previous one, so I decided not to. 4/10 is correct. The soundtrack is ok, and the graphics are spectacular, but, as a GOW fan since I was 12 years old, I can affirm without fear of being wrong that this is without a doubt the worst game in the series. Something that also hurts me is that the ending is so open and ridiculously vague, that there is no foreshadowing of the next thing to come in the saga. But I'm telling you, neither the Egyptians, nor the Japanese, nor the Celtics are going to save this franchise unless Cory Barlog, Santa Monica Studios and Playstation recover the magic of the previous game. They are not going to do it because this Nordic saga will surely sell like 50 million, so for me this franchise is dead, as Kratos should have stayed. All in all, a big piece of ****… Expand

    So many problems
    So many mistakes
    I'll start from the smallest to the biggest ×The weapons are weightless unlike the previous game that had hit stop "inverse kinematics" for some reason they got rid of that.
    ×Brutality is the soul is the DNA of God of War and they got rid of that too.the satisfaction of killing a boss is just isn't there Heimdall death is so empty it doesn't have any seasoning Thor's death is even worse and Odin's death is the worst Loki's hand on Odin shoulder! Is just unbelievable but that roots in other problems much more serious ones.
    ×Another problem with the game is that it builds so much anticipation for a heroic sad farewell to Kratos and it just chooses a different lame route!! The most on edge edgy game franchise in the whole industry don't deserve that childish ending and this childish philosophy present in the game.
    Kratos also, I mean he is also the most edgy on edge character in the whole entertainment industry! He doesn't deserve the ending that writers gave him.
    ×so many characters and activities were point less, Loki gameplay should have been much better considering the time players play as Loki the pacing wasn't there and it was rushed.
    ×betrayal to the philosophy of the game which is YOU choose the choices and you will get what you deserve , CONSEQUENCES will be there to hunt you.
    Thor is such a good boy isn't he he should be forgiven for all the crimes that he did because his daddy Odin didn't loved him?! What? Also for Kratos! he did had reasons to kill all the pantheon in Greece but should he get a happy ending, happy ever after banging Freya??
    ×We see in all the shrines the champion of jutnar and he has a helmet and yea that's Kratos! clearly thats Loki avenging his Father by bringing down Asgard, I think that they changed the game in the end of development and gone back rewrote the game! Look at Asgard it's a humble residential place for humble Odin! While Tyr temple is just gorgeous and advanced (not only from story telling standpoint but from visuals their choice of making Asgard look the way that it looks in the game is horrendous)
    The line that Thor says to Kratos early in the game while fighting him "you think you can come here and become a daddy" and then he resumed "get a clean slate" these don't match you can hear it in Hurst voice (Thor voice actor) what he actually meant and that the second part was added later on.
    And most importantly in the previous game there is two statue of Thor featuring different mjulnirs! Yes different mjulnirs one of the status gets destroyed by the big snake and one gets destroyed by Kratos the one that Jurmongandor eats has the different hammer, Jurmongandor comes from a different time line with that other Thor, there was two Thors in the original story one from this time line one from the other also we got our different Jurmongandor in this game! I don't see why we didn't see the other Thor!!
    ×I think they originally made the game like this: Odin mocks Tyr the same way he did in this game after Broks death they seek out real Tyr they find him and he wants to make peace with Asgard, Loki doesn't like the ways of Tyr (twiddling his giant thumb hoping for the best) he gets distanced from his "selfish" father that wants him safe and away from others affairs he chooses his choice to be a fighter FIGHTING for peace, CONSEQUENCES well death of his beloved glorious daddy to us all KRATOS.
    It makes sense play the game again and see for yourself they changed the game and I think they did a big big mistake if they gone through with their original story it would have break the internet,.
    But they chose to be "politically correct" lame childish and frankly WRONG.
    I think they will see the CONSEQUENCES on sales (they spent $500mil on the game and I don't think they are getting any profits)
    .
    p.s: Why I am disappointed in how much it is a childish game not representing real philosophy because in real life in a country named Iran we are fighting against a control freak childkilling dictator and his son right now and... Yea we need to FIGHT to live and to be free.

    God of War: Ragnarök lived up to the hype. It has an incredible story which develops characters in meaningful ways and has many interesting themes such as family or revenge vs. justice. It’s story is facilitated by fun and engaging combat (with lots of enemy variety!), an excellent soundtrack, and visually stunning art direction. In addition, the voice acting and performances are the bestGod of War: Ragnarök lived up to the hype. It has an incredible story which develops characters in meaningful ways and has many interesting themes such as family or revenge vs. justice. It’s story is facilitated by fun and engaging combat (with lots of enemy variety!), an excellent soundtrack, and visually stunning art direction. In addition, the voice acting and performances are the best of any game I’ve ever played. The only issues I have with the game are the few rare bugs like enemies falling through the floor, or Kratos glitching through obstacles. Also, the companions giveaway hints for puzzles way too quickly for my taste. This being said, I got the platinum trophy today and I’m so glad to have played it. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t picked it up already.… Expand

The areas don’t feel as fun to explore as they did in the last game, and the amount of stuff to collect is extremely tedious. Some areas are really wee designed for exploration, and some are. There is a lot to love about God of War Ragnarok, but there are enough shortcomings to prevent me from loving this game as much as the previous one. I do think it’s worth your time and money, but it’s not the game that I think will beat Elden Ring for GOTY like a lot of us thought it would be.… Expand

    Such. A. Wonderful. Game. I play a lot of games for the story, and this exceeds every expectation. It takes a hardened, broken man, and tells an intimate and emotional story which explores the emotions behind letting those you love go for their own good. Coming of age, independence, familial love, all of that is packed in this gritty and tesosterone filled gore fest.

The plot is excellent, the gameplay is much better than the last part. Only the transmog system was disappointing,the best game I've ever played, the game exceeded all the highest expectations and easily surpassed games like The Witcher 3, Last of Us and RDR 2. and as a fan of Norse mythology, I got a separate orgasm, all the characters and creatures that I was hoping to see, I got it.     An overall amazing game. Beautiful visuals and a compelling story combined with some of the best open world level design I have ever experienced. The game allows for a great variety in difficulty, and has a lot of fun mini-puzzles. The game is massive. The amount of work there has been put into the dialogue, realms (the different maps), RPG-elements, and even the tiny details is beyond myAn overall amazing game. Beautiful visuals and a compelling story combined with some of the best open world level design I have ever experienced. The game allows for a great variety in difficulty, and has a lot of fun mini-puzzles. The game is massive. The amount of work there has been put into the dialogue, realms (the different maps), RPG-elements, and even the tiny details is beyond my imagination, and it all pays off in the end.

    I spent about 43 hours on the game before I finished the story, as the side quests/tasks flowed very nicely with the rest of the game. It is rewarding to complete the quests and get the gear as well as see how the world changes as it is affected by the quest.

    It is easier to name the cons rather than the remaining pros:
    Some minor parts of the story could feel a bit dragged out.
    Some of the side bosses could feel somewhat uninspired.
    Minor bugs.
    Enviornment is pretty but not interactive (the destructive effects were very limited)    … Expand

    To keep it short and sweet. The game is a masterpiece. It’s everything you could ever ask for. And in my opinion it is the greatest game of all time. It improves on everything God Of War 2018 didn’t do too well and did what God Of War 2018 did well, EVEN BETTER. The combat is similar but fresh, the graphics are fantastic and the story is absolutely incredible. 10/10!

    I am so disappointed! Don't get me wrong, the game is still okay. There are scenes that are absolutely fantastic! The acting of the main characters, the score, the graphics, are great. But overall, it is just not a satisfying experience. The graphics have not improved since part one. They aren't bad, but it is a pity. The gameplay is fine, although gets boring fast. There's too manyI am so disappointed! Don't get me wrong, the game is still okay. There are scenes that are absolutely fantastic! The acting of the main characters, the score, the graphics, are great. But overall, it is just not a satisfying experience. The graphics have not improved since part one. They aren't bad, but it is a pity. The gameplay is fine, although gets boring fast. There's too many riddles and combat challenges, and monsters feel like HP sponges above all else.
    My biggest problem is however the pacing, and the quality of the story.
    It feels like a roller coaster, going from an excellent scene, to one boring and generic as can be.
    The game starts out strong, then has a lot of tedious sequences that should be optional side quests but aren't. Then we get a masterfully done main story bit, then back to boring filler. Why can't the quality be the same across the whole game? There's extremely low effort animations when characters talk, but the scenes deserve mo-cap. Lots of lore things are set up, then never used again, or never explained. A lot of missed potential. So many things one would expect to see from Norse mythology, and they didn't bother putting most of them in.
    I love the God of War series and I don't get why they don't put in more epic boss fights? Or more bosses in general. There's basically only 2-3 main bosses, all human-like, nothing big, nothing epic. The ending was horrible. The game feels incomplete, like they forgot that they only made 2 instead of 3 games let in the Norse mythology.
    My favorite parts were Kratos, Brock, and Sindri. All scenes with them were good. The rest... meh.    … Expand

    Este juego es un copia y pega del primer God of War. De hecho es que la versión de PS4 y PS5 son idénticas. No entiendo por qué Sony sigue sacando los juegos que claramente son de PS4 a 80€.

    this is the best game i ever played. Just simply a masterpiece. Don't know how they did it after 2018 but they beat my highest expectations and delivered the impossible. Was an incredible and compelling thrill ride to the very end. I mean the passion that is on display throughout the hours of playtime... wow! 10/10! 110%

You could finish the game and still have tons of things to do. At the end, you could see that kratos opens a shrine and sees that he is getting praised to. He begin to tear up because he would never have imagine that since he had killed many gods and innocent people. That scene made me tear up and it’s the best ending to a game I have ever seen.     Ragnarok lives up to the expectation and hype created by the God of War 2018. Has a perfect story followed by the amazing performances by the cast of the game. As you progress, you unfold so much that this game has to offer both in main story and side missions. Things like combat, area of exploration and ability to travel new realms takes this to a new height than it’s predecessor.

    Historia: Sin duda lo que más ansiaban los jugadores era saber el desenlace de la odisea de Kratos en los nueve reinos, aunque se siente un poco apresurada la historia debido a que aquí veremos lo que debió haber sido    El Ragnarök ha llegado y está nueva aventura de Kratos e hijo prometió mucho y para satisfacción de muchos cumplió con su cometido, una gran obra de Santa Mónica Studio.
    Historia: Sin duda lo que más ansiaban los jugadores era saber el desenlace de la odisea de Kratos en los nueve reinos, aunque se siente un poco apresurada la historia debido a que aquí veremos lo que debió haber sido desarrollado en dos juegos, aún así la historia se desenvolverá naturalmente, desde el principio al fin la historia te mantendrá al filo del asiento, pasando por momentos de acción, humor y lágrimas. El final es epico y un gran cierra para la saga nórdica.
    Sonido: Las actuaciones son magistrales y su doblaje al español latino un excelente trabajo. La única voz que tal vez no me convenció fue la de Odin ya que no se parece mucho a su voz original, pero no quita que hizo un buen trabajo.
    En cuanto a la banda sonora es un diez en todo su esplendor, cada pieza en este juego encaja perfectamente en todo momento. Su soundtrack es simplemente algo que podrás gozar jugando o no.
    Gráficos: 10/10 sin duda ver God of War Ragnarök en 4K o 60fps es un deleite visual, cada rincón de los nueve reinos está sumamente detallado, se extraña inmediatamente el modo foto de lanzamiento, aún sin este modo es muy fácil notar el trabajo hecho por el equipo de Santa Mónica Studio.
    Gameplay: La parte más importante de todo juego y claro este apartado no decepciona, si bien es familiar ya que es prácticamente el mismo gameplay de su versión anterior, con algunas mejoras y nuevos modos. La dificultad en el juego aumento un poco más con respecto a su versión anterior, el atacar y hacer combos se siente muy bien, así como matar a tus enemigos, cuyas muertes varían según el arma que portes. Una de las quejas que puedo poner en este apartado es el control Dualsense, el cuál no ha Sido explotado casi nada, si bien la vibración háptica se ve que trataron de implementar la poco o nada se siente el cambio de terrenos o golpes o armas, lo más que puedes llegar a sentir es cuando viajas en trineo y pasas de hielo a nieve a tierra. Los Gatillos Adaptativos son otros grandes olvidados, usados solo para algunas pocas partes del juego y vaya que pudieron ser aprovechados mejor, si Sony no aprovecha su control que me puedo esperar de juegos de terceros.    … Expand

    No me salió ningún bug ha pesar de haberlo jugado desde el día uno, algo que se agradece porque tuvo muchos problemas con otros títulos exclusivos como horizon forbbiden west, ratchet, grand turismo, spiderman miles morales, que estaban llenos de bugs y molestaba al jugar, en muchas ocasiones mejor dejaba de jugar para esperar a que arreglaran las cosas, con Ragnarok no fue el caso, lo pude terminar sin ningún problema.

    Para mi es el mejor juego del año definitivamente, he jugado elden ring, bayonneta 3, horizon forbbiden west, pero Ragnarok fue el que más me gustó de todos porque lo tiene todo es muy completo y se nota el gran esfuerzo. Ni si quiera me siento estafado por haberlo pagado en su precio completo día uno, hasta creo que pagará más para apoyar a los desarrolladores. Las peleas son épicas y las disfruté al máximo, mucha adrenalina y la forma en cómo contaron la historia es magnifica.

    Es un privilegio haber disfrutado de este juego, muchas gracias por deleitarnos con un títutlo tan completo, por primera vez puedo decir que valió la pena tener un PS5.

Ese NO contundente que dice Kratos en la mesa me dejo perplejo. Y sobre la relación con Atreus, se nota que ha progresado y se ve la madurez de un padre por enseñarle a su hijo el buen camino

The game drags on with endless "puzzles" which are more of a chore than real puzzles, and as a gamer who usually goes "hard mode" i switched to "grace" 2/3s into the game because every fight takes too damn long and add all the chatty "witty" american marvel style talk and slow walking to that and I don't have a life anymore. Just wanna finish it for the story and move on.

Sin embargo, como conocedor de la mitologia nordica, hay rasgos en la historia que no me terminaron de convencer y creo que se podrian haber explotado mucho mejor. One of the most frustrating bosses is the berserker duo in the dwarf realm, and after I finished that, I went into alfheim to find a berserker trio! After I got fed up with that, I left to do other side content and right beside the berserker trio was an asgardian camp with TWO MORE identical enemies for bosses. The main story even has duo Valkaries, duo fire elementals, etc. Just many of the same enemies as a fake and lazy way to make the game harder.… Expand

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
