    God of war ragnarok is definitely a phenomenal game with fantastic combat and a brilliant story littered with twists and turns and brilliantly executed emotional moments. That being said I feel it to be a step back from the 2018 soft reboot in several ways. The combat feels less weighty and brutal with what seems to be a reduced number of options for each available weapon. The elementalGod of war ragnarok is definitely a phenomenal game with fantastic combat and a brilliant story littered with twists and turns and brilliantly executed emotional moments. That being said I feel it to be a step back from the 2018 soft reboot in several ways. The combat feels less weighty and brutal with what seems to be a reduced number of options for each available weapon. The elemental bow options also feel worse than those available last time out and the runic summons for the player are significantly weaker.
    In terms of the story while still phenomenal, I personally feel that the story can get lost in is own wake and struggles to hold its scale at times. This results in some character arcs not quite feeling as fulfilling as you would hope and some conclusions feeling a little underwhelming. That being said the set pieces these stories take place in are spectacular, all 9 realms feel like real places , not just levels, and so it's almost impossible not feel completely immersed in these lands. These realms being bookended with some of the best boss fights this side of Bloodborne certainly helps the levels reputation in mind too.

    Overall a game I do not regret a second of playing but definitely a weaker entry than its earlier installment but a top game none the less.    … Expand

    PS4 version is poor. Even in PS4 Pro. Is not running god at all. Textures, bugs, multiple crashes… all in. Gameplay: Boring Puzzles, Repetitive Enemies, The same complains as 2018, Menu and Map ubisoft like

    Xbots giving this a zero really need to get a life. The level of quality here is second to none. I don't consider this a sequel but rather the second half of a duology. Therefore I wasn't expecting radical changes to the game. It is evolutionary in all the best ways. Because this is essentially a ps4 game the graphics on Ps5 aren't as big of a leap that many had hoped. But they areXbots giving this a zero really need to get a life. The truth is that God of War Ragnarok looks pretty much like a DLC of the last game, graphics, mechanics, UI, gameplay, almost everything looks exactly the same. Also this game shares the same problems the last one did, like repetition of enemies (a bunch been the same enemies as the last game), extremely boring puzzles (again, i bunch of them just a copy and paste from the last game), and repetition in general, all whe have to do in this game is basically running, killing some creatures, solving puzzles and collecting some chest, that's it. Side quests are average, some characters are charismatic and fun, but many of them are shallow and uninteresting, and i feel the world is kinda dead, i mean, there are animals living there but they don't have a routine like in Red Dead Redemption, if you stand in front of them for 1 hour they'll do the same thing for 1 hour. Animations, direction, soundtrack and the art are top notch, but they were already in the past game and just remained the same, so. People love to complain that FIFA or COD are just a copy and paste game that releases every year, but i guess if the game is made by Sony then it is incredible, right?… Expand

    Santa Monica Studios operates on a different realm altogether from human beings. Their games aren't even comparable to others, and a GOTY award would barely do it justice. Another masterpiece of untold brilliance in every aspect of the game.

    I thought that more GOW would be fine but they managed to meet AND exceed the expectations I had. The story is incredible. The gameplay feels so solid. Finished the story in approx 30 hours but so much more to enjoy!

Advance on the map to inconsequential areas and moments. Fog in the background to cover lack and slow loads of objects and textures. Very continuous with respect to the 2018 game. Uninspired enemies. It seems more like a DLC for God of War 2018. Excess of in-game cinematics of characters and faces talking and talking. They are all the time giving the rattle with the theme of Ragnarok but as there is no countdown or indication of progress, it only remains as a curious anecdote. That I don't want to play with Atreus I don't care who he is, or who he is going to be or who he pretends to be. 10 USD extra pay to update the version to new generation, really?

    The Meh!:
    That yes, indeed, Kratos is brutal (but he does not recover the quality quotas of the first 3 canonical games) but his game is not the revolution that they promised and it only remained as a simplistic continuation. When he backs up, Kratos doesn't turn or look at the camera, he just walks backwards with his back turned which gives the impression that the modeling is a faceless back to save textures. Very rushed game that can give about 10-15 hours as an interactive movie and a lot of repetition (they don't get tired of talking). His enemies are uninspired especially that golem **** Lots of teasing and hee hee ha ha with Craig The Brute and it comes out here too, but there's no value in making jokes or memes about that enemy and his pitiful modeling    … Expand

    This game takes what was great about the first game and builds on it. Combat feels so fluid and good. Voice acting is on point and the game looks amazing. Performance mode runs at a pretty much locked 60fps I haven’t had any dips at all. Would definitely recommend to anybody who owns a PlayStation console. A masterpiece.

    Boy! Which game ! What a slap! The staging is breathtaking thanks to this sequence shot camera which does not let go of the action for a second. I won't talk about the script so as not to spoil the surprise for you.

    First Hours in the game, and I only say MASTERPIECE, every aspect in the game polish to highest levels, every space, command, music, cinematic its amazing.
    All gameplay aspects improved and re-newed from the perfect pre-quel.

Words like yep, yeah, kinda, sorta, pretty are used just like in the modern day. This is a strong contrast versus the original trilogy, and 2018's God of War.

    Casual writing can have its place to break the tension or as comedic relief, but in Ragnarok the villains, main characters and side characters all engage in this kind of dialogue, making everything feel constantly comedic.

    The graphics are gorgeous and the combat remains as good as in the previous game, but a game this focused on dialogue and story leaves ultimately little of value when the writing fails this much.    … Expand

    When a game is as good as God of War Ragnarok is though, its issues become much easier to ignore, and that’s certainly been my experience. Ragnarok is better than what I was expecting it to be, and I was expecting the world. It’s a stellar game that perfectly captures both, the scale and bombast of the older entries in the series, and the heart and grounded nature of God of War (2018). From beginning to end, it’s an exciting romp that delivers a steady stream of thrills, whether you’re going through its captivating story, engaging with its massively improved combat, or getting lost in the endlessly explorable and wonderfully designed Nine Realms of Norse mythology. It might seen like an iterative upgrade on paper, but it’s much more than that- not for the first time, a new God of War game has come along and set a new standard for the medium at large. Amazing, the combat got even better , the soundtrack/ OST fits with the scene, and right when you play your already into action, and even more better side characters , and digs deeper into the lore and backstory of other characters and not just that into the story as well, the game makes you feel like kratos just whooping ass! the replay value is amazing , story is aGAME OF THE YEAR! Amazing, the combat got even better , the soundtrack/ OST fits with the scene, and right when you play your already into action, and even more better side characters , and digs deeper into the lore and backstory of other characters and not just that into the story as well, the game makes you feel like kratos just whooping ass! the replay value is amazing , story is a 10/10 , and the cast is a 10/10 amazing voice acting and amazing actors, i see they put the actor from daredevil as faye, the comedy and dialogue is Hilarious on the boat journeys and walking , pacing is amazing, you already get into action , they give you a option to even get a recap from 2018s God Of War 10/10 Haven’t found a flaw yet , finished the story, about to platinum , That’s all , This id one of the greatest games of all time… Expand

    I have six hours of gameplay and just i want to say that this is one of the best exclusive Playstation titles that you can play without doubt!!, a triumph for Santa Monica and Play Station!, well done!.

    Well, this is it bois, Kratos and his troublemaking son boi, I mean, Atreus are back and their new chapter in Ragnarök is full of surprises. God of War: Ragnarök is epic, huge, and emotional all around. Gameplay is fluid as its predecessor but even better. The visual effects and sound design are immaculate, motion capture work performed by the main cast are excellent, and finally, there’sWell, this is it bois, Kratos and his troublemaking son boi, I mean, Atreus are back and their new chapter in Ragnarök is full of surprises.     Disappointing on the PS5, it makes no use of the strong hardware of next-gen and traveling between realms is still 20-30 seconds which is a joke when it's near instant on Horizon, GoT and TLOU.

    Even non-PS5 games make and take advantage of the hardware, Ragnarok doesn't. It also copy pastes 70% of the previous game with more enemy variet and... snow.

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
