Kratos, still bearing the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods. He wants to keep his son safe, above all, and their confrontation with Baldur has vindicated the belief that only tragedy will come from further entanglements with the Aesir. Together, Kratos and Atreus will have to make a choice about which path they will take. Whatever they choose will define the fate of all those living in the Nine Realms as Ragnarok approaches. Whatever your choice of combat strategy, the enemies that await in God of War Ragnarök will be ready. The realms have grown harsher, and a whole host of new creatures from across Norse mythology will test your skills. God of War Ragnarök will take you to the previously unreachable Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard - as well as to new areas from locations featured in the last game. Exploring the realms will take you everywhere from verdant, otherworldly jungles to intricate subterranean mining networks. This next installment in the series will bring you a more diverse, beautiful, and mysterious variety of locations than in any other God of War game. Expand

If Sony decided that this will be the final entry for the PS4 platform, I would be more than fine with this decision. Similar to Avengers: Endgame being the final tip of the hat to the original generation of MCU characters, this is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest PlayStation generations of all time, and a suitable send-off.

The game runs smoothly, without any noticeable frame drop even on the older console, a clear sign that the optimization process carried out by Santa Monica Studios has been flawless... God of War Ragnarok is exactly what we hoped for, and even more. It offers a masterfully told story using a more mature approach, seasoned with a unique setting, a rich characterization of the characters, and challenges that can keep even hardcore gamers busy at the highest difficulties. In other words, it is a title that is simply just too good to be missed.

The game experience of God of War: Ragnarök is very uneven. The title features battles where main bosses serve as damage sponges, the plot that whiplashes between soul-searching and brutality, the world that is empty in some corners and over-saturated with puzzles in others. At the same time, it is a huge, well-crafted title with good overall story and character development. The complete absence of bugs and the game’s technical performance is more than impressive.

The first hour that story will catch and you would not let go! You would always want to know whats going to happen next to Kratos and Atreus. The new characters are unique and funny. The new enemies so many! They definitely improve the combat, enemies varieties that you won't get bored. Certain techniques you don't need the currency to upgrade it but using the technique several times like you perfecting the technique as well continuing your journey. It's so intuitive. Worth the $60 on PS4. Go get that game you won't regret it! Expand

It is exactly what I was expecting: they took the original and expanded the world and the enemies.

PS4 - The game is buggy and slow, loading times are incredibly long. PS5 users really benefit from the improvements.

COMBAT - From a combat-side, it's actually quite bad. I recommend playing on a low difficulty as the combat is unfair and poorly designed in multiple occasions. Fighting wave after wave of monster sometimes is boring, runic attacks are horrible, positioning is irrelevant as enemies will slide towards you while attacking, in general it's very much not rewarding to master, it's probably worst than the first game.

STORY - It's worst than the first game as it expands tremendously moving away from the laser focus of the original. Characters like Mimir and Freya and Kratos himself are actually very much humanized taking away from them the aura of legends they used to have. The main villain of the story, however, is very well made (and acted). The finale was very satisfying in my opinion.
