    I'm truly sorry for what happened to the once great God of War series, after Cory Barlog took over, the series went from an epic Hack and slash game to a corrupted Souls Like that was completely lacking in Gigantism, violence, sex scenes, and cool boss battles.

    Sound design is a liitle bit off, but the art design is amazing, It has everything GoW 2018 lacked, more variety of Monsters and characters, the norse mythology is more present than ever, and that's what makes this videogame so thriving

    Never experienced such a scorching disappointment. It's called Ragnarok, but there's nothing about the legendary clash between the forces of good and evil. Unfinished characters, rather poor bosses at the end. Fake prophecy.     Good: AAA production, graphics, characters, locations, mythology

    Bad: too long, story is unnecessary bloated and super confusing, puzzles mostly annoying, dungeons are boring so is combat at some parts of game.

Они никак не влияют на сюжет и повествование. Скучные и бестолковые. Головоломки однообразные. Сделаны для детей. Так еще и компаньоны вас достану с первой секундой начинаю подсказывать как решить эту головоломку для пятилетнегоПервое сюжет очень простой. На столько простой и стерильный, что даже тошнит. Сколько бы вы ни играли, вы все время будете долго и мучительно убивать врага. И даже старых врагов. В чем тут кайф я не знаю. Из-за этого игра выглядит очень растянутой. А бои вводят в сон и уныние.
    В-третьих. Графика вообще не изменилась. Разницу между PS4 и PS5 нужно искать с лупой. Есть те же враги из предыдущей части. Те же анимации ударов и тот же патер поведения врагов. Да можно защищать игру и сказать, что это одна вселенная, и что это продолжение. Но за что я плачу 70$ если в игре добрые 50% взято из старой части?    … Expand

    The game is phenomenal, I will never forget the first time I turned it on and was enchanted by the graphics. The story is good, at no point did I feel that the game was boring.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay was fun and there were plenty of options for different builds depending on your play style. I had a great time exploring different areas and never felt overwhelmed by sidequests. Every area seemed to have a purpose to serve which made the flow of the game very well crafted. The visuals were impressive on the ps5. I enjoyed the game overall.. until the end.
    The ending was disappointing. I didn't feel anything to be honest. I went through a very generic feeling battlefield, plot points felt useless. It was so much build up just to have nothing interesting or noteworthy happen. Ragnarok shows up to do... nothing. Glad that quests means nothing. Now that gos sacrifice means literally nothing. It make the games writing feel cheap. The finally vattle itself was.... not challenging. I didn't feel like Odin lived up to being the villain he was hyped up to be. Everything felt to easy, things felt unnecessary. I think the ending ruined it for me, great game otherwise    … Expand

Narrative and fight are 10/10 but the exploration is tedious, especially in end game, too many limitations, it simply ruin the experience. I wanted really to platinum but i had to give up exploring, it's simply not fun enough and frustrating. I hope they improve this aspect in the next game, give usSimply a masterpiece. If you like Marvel quips you'll like dialogue, but if you're like me and you're a bit fatigued by that style of humor or you never liked it to begin with then much of the dialogue is very eyeroll inducing.     The combat, the puzzles, the STORY (strongest point of the game). It's just better in every aspect than the last. The first worlds aren't that entertaining but when you unlock more abilities, armors, characters, Incredible side quest, then it becomes one of the best games I've ever played. 10/10 recommend it to anyone who likes a good story game. Acting is superb.

    God of War Ragnarok is a strongly continuous second part of a duology of games. And that's good, since they upgraded what they already done in a level of excellence that not many can reach.

    I would say that this game is beyond gameplay, since the main focus is the character development. And what have they done is a masterpiece of narrative and story achievements. По части открытых локаций, допконтента и геймплея весомых претензий не имею. Как не имею их и в отношении характеров персонажей, актерской игры и музыки. Больше всего минусовПо итогу получилось добротное, вылизанное, рассчитанное на максимально широкую аудиторию продолжение, разросшееся из весьма камерной разборки в масштабное противостояние со всеми известными скандинавскими персонажами. По части открытых локаций, допконтента и геймплея весомых претензий не имею. Как не имею их и в отношении характеров персонажей, актерской игры и музыки. Больше всего минусов от меня отхватил сценарий и постановка, который и не позволил мне сравняться по впечатлениям от первой части северных похождений Кратоса. Вроде бы всё достаточно хорошо написано и отшлифовано достойной оригинала режиссурой, однако из-за разросшегося масштаба сюжета, цельность первой части несколько прохудилась и в некоторых местах дала трещину. В принципе, того требовала история и по части арки отношений Атрея и Кратоса тоже всё замечательно. Однако концовка именно Кратоса не впечатлила и оставила большой осадок от незаконченности, хотя авторы твердили, что эта часть будет последней для него в Скандинавии.

    В целом, оригинал был, конечно, более свежий и в плане постановки более креативный. Эмоций я от него получил несколько больше, однако Рагнарёк достойно его продолжает, развивая его и дополняя, но в этот раз магия для меня сработала лишь наполовину. Местами сюжет показался слишком размазанным, хотелось больше насыщенности во второй половине игры. Секция с Ангрбодой очень понравилась и не показалась затянутой, даже наоборот - её мне показалось мало в игре. Йормунганда и вовсе как-будто забыли и его схватку с одним из персов хотелось бы увидеть "поближе". Очень порадовала Фрейя и Один. Вот к ним никаких претензий нет и быть не может. Прокачали лицевую анимацию, что особенно видно по Кратосу в ключевые эмоциональные моменты.

    Ах да, вернулась жестокость и расчленёнка, что не может не радовать. И зверей в игре как-то прям очень много, что опять-таки в плюс.    … Expand

    Epic game but lacking the scale due to limitations of the ps4, gameplay hugely improved upon, story is very nice and engaging. Kratos finally becomes the God everyone needed without him even knowing it. Can't wait for their ps5 only adventure

    This game is perfect almost in all details. Very very few bugs, I met 2-3 per all game. Technical part, visual, story, sound, fight system thats all literally perfect. Games that have the such level didn't came for long. Thats my favourite for Game Of The Year.

    God of War Ragnarok had big shoes to fill after the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War and there was a lot of worry that it wouldn’t be able to live up to the 2018 game. I am glad to say this lives up and even surpasses God of War. From the level design, pacing, script, and it brings those characters we loved in the 2028 game and made them even better. Along with the preexistingGod of War Ragnarok had big shoes to fill after the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War and there was a lot of worry that it wouldn’t be able to live up to the 2018 game. I am glad to say this lives up and even surpasses God of War. From the level design, pacing, script, and it brings those characters we loved in the 2028 game and made them even better. Along with the preexisting characters the new ones are a treat. I love there is actually a long running joke in the God of War series that is actually in this game. You will know when you see it. The only legitimate complains that were in 2018’s God of War was the boss variety and enemy variety. Well I can tell you now that is 100% fixed and goes above and beyond. The first hour is a sight to behold and SSM outdoes themselves again. The chemistry between Kratos and Atreus gets even better here as the long journey of father and son continue as their inner turmoil and the interaction with father and son is truly interesting to see. The ending is truly special and a tear jerker. Everything falls into place and is a great send off for the series if they would like to finish it. I applaud Sony Santa Monica to be able to live up to their previous game expectations let alone pass it in every single way. Bravo!… Expand

Continuous spoiling suggestions from mates on what and how to turn/put/solve/brake during a puzzles - shows how this game being targeted for 13+ year teen minds..     However this game cant stand even closely with such big boyz like Assassin Creed Valhalla or Elden Ring.. It is not! its like an expansion for 2018 GOW
    Its meant to be the God(!)of War(!) not family dramma theater. I felt like characters have nothing to the Gods panteon but rather some village family..

I thought it near impossible to improve on everything from its predecessor, but they have done it and did it beautifully. Not a lot of enemy variety was my main complaint of God of War 2018, but they took that to heart and added much more enemy variety. IGod of War Ragnarok is my new favorite game of all time. Everything is incredible, from the amazing story, to the addictive gameplay. I thought it near impossible to improve on everything from its predecessor, but they have done it and did it beautifully. Not a lot of enemy variety was my main complaint of God of War 2018, but they took that to heart and added much more enemy variety. Literal at the start we are already hit by no dialogue, just music and deep emotions from Kratos. The story with Freya going from anger to finally finding a reason to stop. Noticing that Odin is the enemy. Enough with spoilers. The music is amazing perfect with any moment that's happening. Visually it looks stunning especially with 4k quality. Combat, chef kiss thats all need to be said. And the emotional moment hit hard with the relationship with Kratos and Atreus. And while the final boss fight is a bit disappointing, still a good one. And knowing that thor isn't the enemy makes him a good protagonist with his problems being with family, not Kratos. The ending hits that Atreus is now on his own to be on his own adventures without Kratos, and Kratos and Freya are a great duo. And the "secret ending" with brok's funeral doesn't rease the next game it just shows the hard hitting feeling for Sindri. I hope this game wins Game Of The Year, if not that's good this game will have a special place in my heart… Expand

    I enjoyed GOW 2018 but had some issues with it. There wasn't enough enemy or environmental variety and although the character writing was insanely good the overall story wasn't that interesting. Ragnarok fixed all of that. The journey spans a much wider range of places, there are a ton of cool enemies and bosses and the story is unpredictable. I was pleasantly surprised by this game.     I've been waiting a game like this for years. Exploration is fun, fights are immense. narrative is masterpiece. This serie is La divinna commedia of the game history. I played it "god of war" difficulty selection i am happy about that but i would want to kill at least seadirs with one hit... cuz i m the god of war in the game. This is only negative thing about game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. God of War Ragnarok is a good game not great. I beat it 28 hours with some side quests done and my gear around level 7. I would consider the 2018 a 10/10. This misses the mark just a little. First off I didn’t need any of the moments you play as Atreus. He is under powered and just annoying to play as. I bought this game to play as “God of War” not his prepubescent son. He felt under powered even after I maxed out his bow and gear. 2nd other thing that marked it down for me was the story. It’s not that clear what you’re doing or why. Kratos is just trying to protect his son and Atreus is doing whatever. Not like in 2018 where it is a story of a father trying to connect with his son on this journey to honor their wife and mothers death while teaching his son about life. Then the macguffin of the mask in the game turns out to be nothing and it just disappears. Last the fight of Ragnarok was weak and how the fight with Thor ended with Odin killing him sucked. My advice is to play the 2018 and if you want to know what happens next, play this - just realize it has its limitations and weaknesses.… Expand

    God of war Ragnarok, like the pervious title, is a master-piece that no other game has touched to this day.
    A master of story, character craft and growth, and the combat just wants you to keep playing it over and over again.

    8.5/10, but I'd give first installment 9/10, why?

    - Combat is way too similar to the first game, not enough of a difference, except when playing other character, which were my favourite parts and theres no option to switch between them. - Story has been done time and time again regarding fate, its still good but not as nice as the first one. - You get backseated way too much on    8.5/10, but I'd give first installment 9/10, why?

    This is a fantastic Game! The Character development in this game is one many others can learn from.
    The combat and level design is fleshed out and challenging, the graphics are amazing as well.

    Masterpiece. Literally twists and turns at every corner. I thought I ruined the game for myself because I was scrolling through YouTube and saw a couple of trolls that posted what I thought was major spoiler material from the game but, turns out, it was very minor overall. There were so many excellent surprises in this game.

There are some points in the story that I thought "Well, that could be better." or "You could've done it way more epic", but overall it was good.     After beating Ragnarok I played the first God of War again and it is SO MUCH MORE FUN!
    I did all the extra content there, Ivaldis workshop and even all the Valkyries! But with Ragnarok I had many rage-quit moment was happy to put the controller down.
    This is a major design issue! Dear developers, let us have fun! You are not the arbiters of what fun gameplay is. Don't force us down narrow gameplay paths just because you are so proud of some specific system or another. It's bad design and Forbidden West had the same problem (like more elemental damage types than you have weapon slots). Sometimes, more is less.
    Also, what is with the fleeing enemies? Half of the time Kratos is running around, chasing after enemies. If I want to herd chickens, there are other games for that. There is little more annoying in gaming than enemies that make you chase after them constantly.
    I'll go play God of War now... the good one, not the frustrating, annoying one.    … Expand

    Where's the RAGNAROK though? That is the ending of the game, and the ending of the norse mythology chapter? Is this a joke? What an underwhelming and rushed ending! The characters, apart from Atreus and Kratos don't even get a proper send-off!
    Where's the epic boss fights? You can't seriously make a God of War and think that 3 humanoid bosses are enough? Where's the BIG BOSSES?? wtf

    I laughed, i cried, i screamed and had intense moments. This game marked a moment in time for me.

    The story and acting is great, but the actual game is not very fun to play. You play mostly just to advance the story, which is probably great for some players out there, but personally, I’ll take awesome gameplay over story any day - but the freshness and amazement of the previous entry has now worn off, and so the gameplay feels somewhat lackluster and predictable.

    The game is constantly split up into very cookie cutter sections, in a not so elegant way; you either have to solve a puzzle (with way too many hints), watch a cutscene, a combat scenario, traversal or a quick time event. The amount of combat sequences in-between the other elements also quickly becomes tiring, as the order usually goes; cutscene, combat, puzzle, combat, walk/boat, combat, cutscene, combat, puzzle, combat etc. The combat is somewhat decent, but is held back by the cinematic animations that often make it feel a bit stiff and clunky. The same enemies are also used way too frequently, and many of them feels as unnecessary filler. The puzzles are also pretty good at times, but after less than ten seconds a very obvious hint will be given, whether you like it or not. This kind of handholding is unbearable, and makes the puzzles way too easy. My biggest gripe though is that the PS5 version is definitely held back by the previous generation. Don’t get me wrong, it looks great, but it doesn’t look very much better than the previous entry, which is a big deal for a game where facial expressions and scenery is 40% of the experience. Also, what’s up with that stale water? When you spend most of the game sailing around, why didn’t they update these animations at least? As said, I haven’t finished it yet, and given this is a story driven game my opinion might change, but looking at it purely from a gameplay-perspective, I’d say Ragnarok plays it waaaaay too safe; so much so, that actually playing it becomes a bit tedious already. It’s a game that prioritizes story over gameplay, but if you’re into that then you’ll probably have a great time.
    If you want to have game that’s actually fun to play as well though, Ragnarok definitely has its moments but they’re few and far in between.    … Expand

    Heimdall's character should have been better. His voice actor was amazing. Thor's character was like a lapdog for Odin. He didn't play a big role; he was just doing what Odin told him.

    Across the board an improvement on the prior game. The combat has new mechanics that compliment the old. The narrative is interesting and the characters have progressed in unexpected ways. Traversal isn’t as tacked on as it used to be. Visuals and set pieces are dramatic and captivating. They took a near perfect game and polished it to bring ever closer to that impossible ideal.

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
