Game is absolutely amazing the story is an emotional adventure, the graphics are out of this world, and it brings you along the journey of a father son relationship and what decisions have to be made to be better. if i could give this game anything more than a 10 i would. Greatest game ever and definitely has my vote for game of the year.

    Great action good attack Modes.

Next time when you make a game you start from the beginning.

The characters needs to move slow before reaching the highest level of Speed moves in attacks.

    But anyway excellent work.

Although I am not finished with everything, I can confidently say that God of War Ragnarok is one of the best games I have ever played. I played this on a PS5 and was awestruck at some of the gorgeous places Kratos and Atreus visit during the story and even some places locked behind sidequests. Speaking of sidequests, they are greatly improved upon from GoW 2018.

Each side quest feels actually important to do and help advance the characters in ways I didn't think possible or fleshed out the world. One of my favorites parts in the game happened when I completed the Hafgufa sidequest. I freed the first Hafgufa with Atreus towards the beginning of the game and when I later freed the second Hafgufa with Freya after freeing her from Odin's curse, there was a genuinely touching scene where Kratos and Freya talked about what they would do for their children while the 2 Hafgufa's decided to die to produce offspring. This scene made me tear up and seeing meaningful character development during a sidequest was incredible.

The combat is also meaningfully improved and the story is absolutely phenomenal and the best part of Ragnarok. (I had more to say but MetaCritic isn't letting me write more than 2000 characters for some reason?)

This is a must buy for everyone with a PS4 or a PS5

I didn't like the 2018 God of War game. They stripped away so many gameplay mechanics from the og. GOW games and didn't replace them with anything new. I also didn't like the story because it seemed poorly written with a forced character arch for Atreus and with a boring Kratos. This game is just a total rehash of that with similar flaws and full of reused assets.

God of war Ragnarok It is a pleasant experience, but the more you start asking questions the less answers you're going to get.

Besides never bigger open world to explore and amazing graphics and world building, there are a lot flaws that make God of war Ragnarok look like a DLC for the original God of War 4.

    - Gameplay includes cover to cover same mechanics from God of war 4.

    - Although the world a lot bigger and it offers a lot to explore, from various boss fights to simple and boring side quests that are also called "Favours". There are side quests to keep you interested, but most of the "Dead spirit" side quests are just utterly boring and not rewarding at all.

    - Enemy variety suffered as a consequence of the big open world which can get at times very repetitive and boring.

    - Finishing moves do not have that same rewarding feeling you had in the previous game due to lack of Gore and them experimenting with finishing moves that include both playable character and companion. You don't feel the anger and strength of the Ghost of Sparta when performing finishers which was present in previous game, even God of War 4.

    - Story and character development is very bad. Although it's backed up by amazing worlds, great graphics and characters we love, it is filled with cheesy dialog, decisions that get overwritten in the next sequence and trying to make all the secondary characters protagonists. The story gets so messed up in the end that you are left with thousands of those questions "Why would he do that?". It's not realistic and it looks like teen tv show.

It is a good game, definitely worth experiencing, but it's not perfect nor nearly close to what God of War 4 was.

God of war 4 had that intimacy, tension and atmosphere. Every moment was epic, a lot of lore to discover and the decisions that characters made had an impact and weight.

30h into the game. Improvement since last part is just symbolic. Skills look and work almost the same! Playing as Artheus is strangely balanced - is seems easier to crash enemies playing as a kid than god of war himself.

Fighting haven’t change a lot, but story took over this game way too much. 30h into the game and it feels like vast part is dialogs and running through endless tunnels.

It’s strictly subjective - going through game for me is wishing to finally involve into encounter, after long running, climbing and talking. Maybe it’s controversial, but it has this Ubisoft vibe - force you to listen decent story and open world is about running from one marker to another. The best thing is what between all of that which is FIGHTING. Nevertheless, after Souls and Elden Ring God of War is just good

Plus, I kinda already figured that you'd be able to play as Atreus, but I didn't think he'd be so fun to play as! My only gripe is that you can't play as him again once you finish the main story. But it just means that I'm gonna have to play through it again, and I will NOT complain about that.

Its because the game is lacking more of the epic and wtf moments that it used to have. Dont get me wrong, i love this game in every bit and form! But it is missing more of those epic moments rather than those intimate moments which are everywhere after the mid game and it sorta breaks the immersion and doesnt feel god of warish, it needed more of those bad ass moments. So overall the core story of the game just didnt do it for me, it felt like it was made for children and teens rather than adults or to the original god of war fans, but at least it ended in such a wonderful way and an open ending towards the next chapter.
But other than the less bad ass moments and and somewhat of a let down about the story the new world of god of war is full of life! and full of content for you to do, its big enough to chew on and long enough to fulfil that satisfaction that the predecessor needed. With all the realms being unlocked, changes to the realms after the last time kratos and atreus have visited the realms, and more challenges and things to do and explore all the time! Even after 100% completion i still just want to go back and see how gorgeous each realm looks and feels. Combat is here in its glory yet its a hit or miss, with movements and attack changes that didnt seem necessary like holding the triangle button that you never use especially when you unlock the attack and perks that would charge your axe/ blades after a few hits, and no more upgrades towards rage and unarmed combat makes feel like a missed opportunity, tho you do unlock a whole new weapon later on in the game but ill keep my mouth shut for that, and probably thats why the whole change in combat was probably changed towards and saved for that, which you end up using the new weapon more down the line.
Overall its a phenomenal game with a sweet soundtrack, amazing visuals and detail to the world, content, and combat. Tho the story felt like a slight let down and it did need more epic moments rather than these childish disney like acts, i felt like it couldve been the true masterpiece everyone was talking about. And i would definitely be coming back on NG+ for new content and to get a 2nd opinion.

Graphics are not massively updated but you can see the improvement from the previous game.
Gameplay is very very good and the action gave me the same amount of enjoyment GOW 2018 did.
Locations and the view they offered are breathtaking.
Characters are deep and especially side characters tend to be much more important and interesting.
The negatives are there for me also though.
The pacing of the game feels kinda off to me at times.
Some characters felt much different from what the previous game told us they would be. Like Thor isn't the mental drunk guy who is unstable and a merciless killer. He is seen in the game more like a confused tricked by Odin guy not that unstable and not that unlikeable. Some scenario choices didn't work for me and i would like them to be different.
The game lacks a bit of the epicness i expected when i bought. They humanise the gods maybe way too much and i also missed a great massive final battle.
Overall the game was excellent for me but due to some choices that don't leave me absolutely satisfied i have to give it a 9 instead of 10.
    GOW 2018 was a 10/10 for me.

The gameplay feel very good and refined as an evolution of some sort of the previous game but remains fairly familiar and I think that's fantastic.
On the other hand the story feels rushed and for most of the game it feels pointless roaming around and the final act feels waisted considering the overwhelming amount of material to work with...
It's supposed to be a battle between 9 realms and it amounts to not even a couple hours of playing making it a total waste of an opportunity.
It certainly has its great moments but as far as I'm concerned I'm very disappointed in the story ...

I played on the hardest difficulty and took sweet time with it, Didn't rush the story at all and always did all the side quests available before proceeding with the story. Here's my opinion about the game that I have been waiting for since rolling the credits on Gow2018 4 years ago. Note: this won't be spoiler free (you have been warned) I really never expected this level of incompetency from Santa Monica studio. They took whole 5 years to make this game (same time it took them Gow2018 which was built from the ground) and still couldn't top it or even be on the same level with it.

My biggest issue with this game is the story. So many questions from the last game left unanswered. At the beginning of the game Kratos is angry about not knowing what Faye wanted, but then it's never mentioned again through the story and we didn't know why she wanted her ashes spread in the peak of Jotunheim and why she hid that she's a giant.

After spending the entirety of the last game hyping Kratos vs Thor, I expected his fight to be insane and at least top that of Baldur.
But his fight was meh, Especially at the end.
Odin comes across as a coward especially against Kratos. He doesn't have the All Father vibes at all and doesn't show any feats of power aside from backstabbing Brok and Thor. The final fight against Thor and Odin felt more like a moral lecture from the writers rather than what the characters would actually do.

Ragnarök is poorly executed with many of it's very important event's missing for no reason.

They lied about a lot happening in this final chapter and lied about the pandemic not affecting the game. The story is so rushed and all the build up and foreshadowing from the last game went to nowhere. I honestly can't see what part of this game took them whole 4.5 years to make and the help of other 9 studios.

Do I recommend this game ? Yes. Though don't be fooled by the title (Ragnarök) this game has very little to do with Ragnarök.
Is it a masterpiece ? No. Did it live up to the hype and deliver all what the devs promised ? No.

An extremely excellent sequel worthy of four years, an epic journey that is enough to make people linger and forget to return, is also a family music with ups and downs and refreshing. 10 points will be given to the game itself, 9.5 points will be given to the player himself, and 0.5 points will be given to the ending loss, parting regret and future expectation. (The following must involve spoilers)

Since the first platinum trophy in 2013, there are not many games that still make me have a great urge to play again after the platinum trophy, at least not in the three years since p5r. Unfortunately, the new game+and photo modes have not been updated yet, so I have to leave this impulse for the update. The dusk of the gods made me approve of my purchase of the oled television for the first time. Due to the lag of the ps4, the progress of its presentation layer is not obvious to the naked eye, but a careful observation of the light, shadow and material details can still feel a huge gap, only if a good display device is required. In addition, thanks to the failure to give full play to the PS5's performance, it is possible to unlock frames by turning on high frame rate in the picture quality mode. Then with the help of vrr, you can really experience the fluency of 120 frames (admittedly, frame insertion technology is not 120 frames of the game itself, and it will float around 60 after unlocking frames). The 1800~2160 is almost the same as the 2160 under the support of various technologies. This time, you can have a full view of the Nine Realms in the dusk of the gods. The new scene is beautiful with the help of the new reflection technology, but it's a pity that you can't become a photographer of the Nine Realms without a photo mode. The design and production of many of these new areas can clearly feel that they are testing the waters for future new works. Different from the way in which the end of the United States shapes scenes for light and shadow, the Ares is a scene that shapes light and shadow, which is more natural than the end of the United States.

On the whole, this is the most expressive virtual fantasy world in the world. At least no one can surpass the next god of war. (Don't think ff16 has a chance~)

The gods at dusk took over the last game perfectly. Although some of the first six or seven hours were not pleasant (which was also an excellent side effect of the last game), the overall experience was quite good after ten hours of the process. It was still the same taste, but it was more smooth and refreshing. The addition of new weapons also made the combination and collocation more rich, although occasionally I missed the combination key operation of the old god of war, But after rpg, the rhythm is faster and it is really cool. This time, there are many kinds of monsters, and there are also many high-level bosses. The ordinary difficulty is not enough. For me, challenging this rhythm several times can be more enjoyable than the soul. Platinum feels like he doesn't want to stop after playing the female god of martial arts. No wonder some people say that the battle is not epic enough, in fact, it is enough... but the rhythm is really too fast.

As the most successful film and television game of Sony, Zhanshen's plot is always the most watched. My evaluation of this plot is very excellent and approaching perfection. At dusk of the gods, the story really revolves around the dusk of the gods, but its core is affection, growth and salvation. These cores look old American, but in fact, they are very modern and moving, which is worthy of ending Lord Kui's journey to northern Europe. Maybe some people think that the story is not epic and the war of God of War is not magnificent, but in fact, the core of the story has changed since 2018. It may be written as a heroic epic. The war between Kui Yeh and his son against the Nordic gods can more ignite the enthusiasm of players, but the carefully polished arc of characters and the skillful lines of travel weave a more stylish character growth and father son relationship. In the whole game, whether it is the transformation of Queyette, the growth of Atreus in the rebellious period, the Odin family's belief that one's selfish desire has become confused, Freya's giving up hatred and selfishness, the story of dwarven brothers, and the branch line of Higglune, they all explain the most important word in everyone's life, home. This seemingly small theme is actually more profound than those grand stories.

Who hasn't rebelled, who doesn't have family, who doesn't have bad family, and whose life is smooth? The story that can bring people to think is far better than Shuangwen. When the characters grow, the players will also grow. This is more likely to make people hollow and unforgettable than the journey of killing gods like Zhanshen 3. In this regard, the gods are successful at dusk.

Especially the series of minibosses within the undead king are a bit hardcore. Yes, the 0 ER-loving "reviewers" here will be disappointed. Don't take them seriously. This product is a hate crime. But even putting aside the malicious insertion of a black girl and promoting miscegination in a game about Norse mythology. Never has a game gotten me to fly out of my seat in excitement and stand to finish the game. God of War: Ragnarök took what was great about the 2018 reboot and continued forward. The combat may have felt stale to others which I understand. To me the combat felt similar but I enjoyed that combat so much previously that I did not mind. They made changes and included old runic attacks into the normal combos, one of which was my old favorite move for the leviathan axe. The thing that made it better in my opinion was a return to brutality in the finisher. Watching Kratos chop an enemy with the axe, kick them into the air spinning, and cleave them in two was a return to the old god of war we knew. Especially ripping enemies apart with the blades of chaos. The exploration aspect remains with plenty of side objectives to conquer as well. These added plenty to the lore of the story and characters. I found the interactions between the characters more humorous and charming seeing how they have bonded over the years between games. Now, the part of this game that DESERVES the 10/10 is the story. This was truly a masterclass in narrative and storytelling. The moments, the music, the action. All of it compounded into a story that will be remembered fondly by all. The game may start slow to some, after an intro scene that is one of the greatest game intros to exist. Side note: if you’re reading this and are the genius developer that had the amazing idea in the first fight with Thor, bravo. The game eventually leads into its title event where I knew I could not put it down till it was over. Truly an amazing experience that I will look forward to playing again soon. If you enjoyed God of War 2018, you will most likely love this game as well. Congratulations to the dev team. Enjoy this story my friends. Expand

God of War Ragnarok was a fun experience with a huge open world and satisfying combat mechanics. There's a lot to discover and a good viarity of build options. Unfortunately it feels like a copy paste from the old God of War and lacks innovation. The story is ok, with all its ups and downs but could'nt catch me as part one did. A brilliant sequel that provides everything fans asked for. It is one of the very few projects that excels in every aspect of a modern ‘game’. It provides a great balance between its masterful story-telling and combat that never gets boring, not to forget one of the best looking graphics ever seen in a game. Besides improving in all in-game mechanics of its previous iteration, God of War Ragnarok satisfies everyone with all the questions that had been lingering in our minds along with a fulfilling ending to each character. This game also provides enough callbacks with elements that it includes from all previous god of war offerings, sending all hardcore fans into a nostalgic rollercoaster throughout the length of the whole game. I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.

It’s a satisfying conclusion to the modern God of War saga, but it’s hard to walk away and not feel like this could have been something greater.
