    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. They obviously don't play video games. Good graphics and storyline but I would not recommend this game to even my worst enemy. More bugs than a picnic basket at the park. The patches are always to fix bugs and nerf characters in some way. Please stay away from this game there are many other options. There is even news to where the developer themselves said to play another game while playing this one. To current players I apologize but nerfing cool down reduction was the one for me. It felt slow as is already and reducing cool down reduction was simply just to hurt the players and waste more time. There was absolutely no reason for this nerf because it was not powerful just made the game play bearable to play the least.… Expand

    This game is an unfinished product when released. Features that was in D3 is nowhere to be seen in D4. Further, the couple of patches that came out were all just bug fixes & # adj that should've been fixed during beta. They also ruined gameplay with untimely nerfs showing how incompetent the D4 team is.     This is Diablo Immortal but for pc and console under the guise of the name Diablo IV. Every design and game change decision is made by the corporate suits to milk you of your money. Player fun is not factored into these decisions at all. This is not a Diablo game, any resemblance to quality Blizzard titles of the past are gone. Blizzard is dead, this game exists to make you play longer,This is Diablo Immortal but for pc and console under the guise of the name Diablo IV. Every design and game change decision is made by the corporate suits to milk you of your money. Player fun is not factored into these decisions at all.     Was a good game in the beginning and I really enjoyed my 150 hours into it.
    I wanted to start with a fresh mind into the next season and got the papyrus of patch notes for S1 which effectivly extend the level progress (artificially) and nerf all charakters. I will have a look at the evening but I played 30 minutes with my hunter and it was just terrible and I directly switched off this    Was a good game in the beginning and I really enjoyed my 150 hours into it.

    We all knew there are bugs but this is far from finished.

But every Diablo game up to 4 has an addictive quality that can keep you up all night, and during the day you're counting down when you can get more time in. Diablo 4, not at all..     The Game had its flaws, seasons was meant to be what we were waiting for, instead they nerfed everything. xp and lvling were rough but now they are unbearable clearly blizzard have no idea what their fans want, the game is unplayable making already annoyed fans like myself quit the game until they fix it or just move on entirely. This game will die completely in its current state.

    There is no high level content, no balancing, important game mechanics don't work, the game is super repetitive and sleepy boring.

Truth be told, I don't even have much of a problem with non-P2W microtransactions, because I have to accept reality that AAA online PvP multiplayer on Playstation will basically only happen if MTX is included. You can thank greedy and lazy "story-driven" developers like Sony Santa Monica for that, because they save so much money by giving us half of the game at full price, and still make bank. So of course, developers that give us the full game are going to monetize the online portion for that extra work. My problem is that I already spent $70 on this mobile game that isn't even close to a true AAA experience, and the greedy developers still have the audacity to add MTX. Seeing how this is an online only mobile game with MTX, it should've been free-to-play. This outrageous greed makes EA and Take-Two look like saints in comparison. At least they have full priced games with actual AAA quality. Battlefront 2 or GTA V alone has better quality than the entire Blizzard catalogue combined. That's embarrassing.… Expand

    Hard to say anything good, I have played all of the diablo series and must admit this game Is byfar the worst experience. I have over 15 years playing the series and not happy with blizzard and how they nerf everything into the ground. They have no clue what the community wants and just scales off everyone at the top 5 pct.

    Before lvl 50 - horrible grind in strong holds and redoing all the slow and boring quests. After lvl 50 the game becomes even more horrible having to do the same nine S- and A-tier nightmare dungeons over and over and over again. Finding items is no fun at all, since almost every unique is useless due to developers not giving them good stats, and legendaries are just "aspect holders". IBefore lvl 50 - horrible grind in strong holds and redoing all the slow and boring quests. After lvl 50 the game becomes even more horrible having to do the same nine S- and A-tier nightmare dungeons over and over and over again. Finding items is no fun at all, since almost every unique is useless due to developers not giving them good stats, and legendaries are just "aspect holders". I would estimate 1 in about 1000 rare items have the stats you want, so be prepared to sort out yellow items like you have never done in your entire life. It's like doing the laundry again and again for hours but you will never get finished. Open world had potential to be fun, but they killed it with patch 1.1 when open world mobs are capped 5 levels below you, so it is just a waste of time. This also makes questing worthless once you hit World Tier 4, so if you saves some quests you will get nothing from them. I was looking forward to this game a lot, and was prepared to forgive many issues, but the game is broken in so many ways that I cannot see how they will put this together into a fun game at all. Also, difficulty scaling is among the most broken I have ever seen. Before World tier 4 everything feels slow and it takes time to kill stuff and move around, and once you get a few upgrades in World Tier 4 everything suddenly is way too easy, and you will be killing world and dungeon bosses in just a few seconds.… Expand

The story was boring and players tell me i haven't reached end game only to tell me there is no end game.     Nerfing every class and ability and halting player progress in order to milk the same lackluster content is a bad move. Blizzard has become a sad company with no respect for its playerbase. Best stay away from this game until issues are properly addressed. If history repeats itself, that will be in 26 seasons, if ever.

    Game was alright for a few weeks, but the patch on 7/18/23 killed most aspects of the game. It’s a shame. Before it was a dumpster fire it was an alright game. Hopefully Blizzard will get its act together and resuscitate this game soon. Otherwise I can’t advise buying it in its current condition.

The patch nerfed damage, added health to mosters, nerfed horse riding speed (due to cool down reduction), added almost twice the time it takes to leave a dungeon (why you ask, no one knows.     Sorc Teleport on PS5 is junk , you cannot teleport full screen like on PC. The sorc teleport on PS5 distance is same like evade.
    Elemental resist is not working.
    Horse sprint on PS5 is not full sprint like on PC.

    The game was really enjoyable the first time I played through it to 100 but with the 1.1 patch they basically just said "we dont know what we are doing cause we are not playing the game!". They should have made nm dungeons have better mob density and they should have the uber uniques in the game and make the basic uniques actually good.     I do think the game has potential but they legit just spat in our face. At this point u should not buy the game. They could make it a 9/10 and I do think after the the server slam it was a strong 6-7/10 but now it things just took a really bad turn.    … Expand

    I was really looking forward to platinum this game I normally dont play a rpg's so imagine how Im disappointed. Now that after I see s1 patch notes I am going to sell my copy and buy baldurs gate instead. Seriously why nerf single player game ?

    Solo Campaign was fun but everything after it is pure trash. Blizzard just wants you to spend as much time as possible in this game but gives no reason why you should do it. Besides from that patch that made the game even worse up to not playable (infinite login time, full of bugs, invisible walls, quests not working and so on). But the shops always works fine.

    10 years of development time and Blizzard manages to release a game that is completely undercooked. Extremely buggy, unadressed VRAM leaks, a very poor UI, no endgame, limited character customization, and a season 1 patch that is honestly horrible as it nerfs everything with no compensation in terms of player power or rewards. A baffling failure overall. I have had no issue putting this game down.

What is not okay though is that this game does not respect your time. Everything was nerfed so that you reach endgame slower. Why?     What is not okay though is that this game does not respect your time.

    Everything was nerfed so that you reach endgame slower. Why? Because there is no endgame.

    The final straw for me was sitting in queue for the past two hours. That's nothing new for a veteran Blizzard games enjoyer, but today it really hurt for the first time.

    I have 15 kids 3 wives and 5 jobs, and as such I only get two hours to play each day.

    Not today, today I sat in the queue. I got in once, however. For a glorious 10 minutes I got to explore the new season content: invisible walls, rubberbanding, stuck in loading screen while trying to enter a cellar, now stuck in queue.

    As I am writing this, the game crashed after waiting in queue for 20 minutes again.

    While it does have some interesting elements, the music scoring is incredible and the graphics are nothing short of amazing... It has many, many, MANY, downfalls.

    It was fun and exciting for the campaign, but after that, you level for a bit and progress somewhat when you can explore Nightmare Dungeons, or do Hell Tides, or just farm content. However, you quickly hit a wall in which you cannot progress. This was further amplified by the constant nerfs the developers implemented in various parts of the game.

    The game, now, is no longer something you are able to play and enjoy to reach player power increases. It is, unfortunately, made even worse by the considerable stat affixes that are amazing but never roll on your gear. This frustration is compounded by the introduction of the challenge of farming enough gold to, enable what should be a switch in character builds or specializations only limited by the random drops in the game, and not, be for paying for every system required for the switch. Thus, pulling you deeper into a downward spiral of a time sink, severly limiting play and forward momentum. This will only be exacerbated more during the seasons, when you have a time crunch and also a reset factor. Resent nerfs have made it even worse, clearly designed around the, now clearly apparent philosophy of ABK that: "time spent = content."

    I have already wasted my 120 dollars on this piece of garbage software that is now lining my recycle bin on my desktop. This is the first game in the franchise that I have ever uninstalled and stopped playing due to dissatisfaction with, not only the current version of the game, but also the deep flaws that exist in the character designs and key game mechanics/systems.

    Hold on to your precious dollars. There hundreds of better titles out there. Wait for the expansion and re-evaluate, in my opinion.

    I will not be buying another Activision, Blizzard, King title or anything related to this horrible company that clearly has lost touch with their player base and does not respect their player bases time.    … Expand

    Wasted about a 100 hours to build a character just to have it nerfed overnight. Great game, story and I got my money's worth but I won't be returning. There are a lot of good games in 2023 that hopefully won't waste my time like Diablo 4.

    I feel bad for the people that actually worked on this game. I can just imagine the cringe the programmers had to go through while taking orders from their stupid **** bosses. Way to ruin a franchise Blizzard.

    Do you just hire the most 'progressive', 'diverse' people you could find to absolutely ruin a name that your CORE audience has held very dear to them? This is probably the biggest flop in history, and I'm ashamed for you.

    I get you guys are a cash machine, anyone with a single brain cell recognizes you guys are just a **** company. Please don't continue ruining something that was created from brilliance and dedication from the D1, D2 days.     There is no fun to have after the main story is completed.
    Dungeons are boring as hell.
    Loot after level 50 is ridiculous...
    Last path made everything worst. The season gameplay is forced on casual player and means abandoning all eternal characters....

    Game was pretty addictive but patch 1.1.0 has totally ruined my endgame sorcerer character. I've lost most of my Arc Lash build damage. It is truly unfair. I am Diablo fan since its first part, since 1996 but it were other games and other Blizzard. Im really sorry, it is very sad for me but I don't think I will continue this game in this form because it's not joyful anymore. My favorite part in those hundreds of hours was killing some random person and seeing a small Funny popup in the corner saying I unlocked a title called "Predator" I literally laughed for over 5 minutes looking at all the combinations you could put and created a ENTIRELY new character named Jeffery Epstein where I proudly equipped the title and ran around killing demons. NOW after a few months I have been seeing TONS and TONS of videos how Diablo 4 is dying blah blah blah everyone here reading the reviews knows Exactly why they are here. I'm not one to go over every little detail of every class and every nerf that is introduced but this didn't bug me. I boot up a game and start a brand new character and I name them Bill Cosby this time expecting a brilliant Level 100 character to be putting people to sleep as a sorcerer or whatever I level up my character in this brand new ""SEASONAL WORLD"" looking the EXACT same id say my 30 min I put into leveling Bill Cosby was a complete waste because I didn't see a Damn thing that popped out and said WOW new season Just the same **** That isn't worth my time because the moment I went and hovered to look for Predator it was nowhere to be seen. Then I go huh maybe because its a seasonal thing that would be super awesome if all my hours spent would playing BETA would be put to good use where nobody would be able to acquire predator title anymore. Nope. I log into Jeffery Epstein and His TITLE is replaced with "Enemy". This SOFT company had no one talking about this title and it made it through TESTING to PUT IT IN THE GAME and they go and replace it with some dumb BS exactly what they did with overwatch PVE acting like nobody will notice or it wont affect players. THIS ONE Decision has stopped me from ever spending money on a blizzard title or any time on Diablo ever again. Hopefully yall can read this and agree that blizzard has crossed the line a long time ago but as a casual player having my hard earned time to Jeffery Epstein and Bill Cosby is just a complete heartbreak.… Expand

    The game at the very beginning of its released it was working perfect. Only servers fixes maybe needed. At the moment they started nerfing the game every week they totally messed it up. All the long hours put in this game to buff your character for nothing because they wanted to swipe out all your character stats and make it weaker for no reason. I can only imagine what kind of conversation about the Sorceress took place at Blizzard:
    Head of Development: Hey? Is that **** sorceress finally dead?
    Head of Balancing: Well, I think so? We buried her.
    Head of Development: But she still has quite a lot of followers! Take care of it!
    Head of Balancing: Okay, we'll dig her up again, and burn everything thats left! Just to be sure!

    Either the developers are completely oblivious to their own game mechanics or it's a deliberate action to slow down players and generate longer playtime per player to improve the statistics (KPI). Instead of finally creating decent endgame content, they simply stretch the path to the endgame indefinitely, so the lack of content isn't noticed as quickly.    … Expand

So I am not opposed to a long grind, (92 is middle for OSRS of a skill that goes to 99) but it has to have some benefit, you unlock something that makes your character/account better.     The Dev team nerfed all the builds and defenses on the eternal realm by 50%. Players spent hundreds of hours on these characters only to to force players to the season realm so they spend money on a battle pass.

Terrible inventory, super poor item drop rates. 10000 useless items b4 you find one that's even close to usable. Terribly unbalanced in a lot of ways. I want this game to be better soo badly. The way some of the classes are designed makes the game extremely grindy and choppy, where traditionally an ARPG would be faster paced and smooth. I dont understand why they would make nerfs to classes that are already notoriously weak. Are they only watching the top .00000001% video footage when making decisions? they should be the exception, not the rule. us "causals" want to be able to log into the game for a couple hours a day and feel a sense of accomplishment during that session.....… Expand

    Before the last patch I could rate it 6.5, now it is literally 0.0, totally trash, if you want players to spend more and effort, you can raise the top level of dungeon to 200 instead of weakening everyone, completely waste of money and time play this game

    There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
