I was quite hyped for the new season and thought it would be fun, but after skipping the campaign (which I realise now is the only really fun part) I understood how completely devoid of content the endgame is. This is why blizzard tried to slow everyone's progress, because there is nothing fun to do after it is finished.
Endgame is pretty much empty. You run the same helltides, the same nightmare dungeons and the same whispers over and over again.
I'll pick it up again in season 3 or 4 to see if they've actually made some endgame content yet, but if you've not bought it yet, don't bother, it's a waste of money and time.

It's a **** waste of money game, I'm curious about the development team's understanding of the character, how come the Sorceress has less than 3 builds to do? And why do patches get nerfed every time?

I feel so sad I bought a Ultimate Edition. Diablo 4 is not worthy to play. I give 1 score for main story. My Sor is so weak and diablo4 team nerf my level 80 sor again , that's .... Anyway, don't buy Diablo4, just wait for another 1 or 2 years. Then if you still interested, you can come back and check. Diablo4 is a mess right now. Don't buy diablo 4.

The worst game I've played on PS5 with
constant lag and crashed! I couldn't understand the point of making Diablo 4 with the need of server connection. This is not a MMORPG. I can only see the fact that Blizzard wants to earn as much as they could with season content.

What a sad excuse for a game.

I should have known better after being burned so many times by Blizz and how poorly they have treated their games as of recently yet I was dumb and nostalgia drove me to purchase. I made a character to about level 60 and then I was completely burnt out. Its the same thing over and over and over again. There is no variety in the end game activities at all.

Billion dollar "AAA" studio can't even get it right.

So I dropped it hoping that when season 1 started it would bring with it fresh new mechanics, different bosses, new endgame content.. Well... We all know how that turned out.

What a complete disappointment. With D4 being released into a timeframe with other massive releases at least we get to experience proper, well designed and finished games this summer. Blizz deserves all the hate they are getting and maybe just maybe they can figure their **** out and produce something with substance which will take years, if at all. The only good thing about the game was the campaign/cinematics but then you go look at the predatory microtransaction page and see what they are charging and how much of a rip off it is and then even the fun feeling of that goes away because a 100 dollar game is still trying to suck every last dollar out of you.

I regret ever buying this dumpster fire. I am actually getting mad as I type this out that is how pissed I am at myself for giving them money. Worst part of it is that they don't care. If anyone wants to play a proper ARPG, go play Path Of Exile, Last Epoch or Grim Dawn. Don't waste your time and money with a company that does not care about its player base.

Diablo 4 left me unimpressed, lacking the spark that makes a game truly engaging. Its gameplay felt like a repetitive chore, failing to captivate my interest. The excitement and depth I anticipated were absent, leaving me with a sense of blandness. I’ve sunk ridiculous hours into this game only to be met with constant disappointment. You find yourself literally gated behind extremely low percentage drops. My friends have since been a lot luckier than I have with drops and have progressed past me. I feel like the welfare member of the group, even though I have sunk many more hours into the game. The ‘chance of drop’ system is archaic and extremely unimaginative. You might actually have to do something new Blizzard other than make prettier dead people on the screen and invent newer and more enjoyable systems so that people can play together.

The variant of character models focus soly on several aspects such as tattoos, hairs, but the facial and body build options are very lacking, for one the transmog witch actually looks better than the female sorc. And there is no freaking way for you to make a thinner druid.

The item upgrade feels very inorganic as u have to hunt for items with the right affixes wehther its rare, legendary or unique, and then repeat as u level up. Most of the affixes do not present a way that is game changing during lvling process and the resource mgt is not fun until u come up with something like the mother embrace ring.

There seems to be no testing for class mechanics before release and it persists post-release judging from the gaps between necro, druid and sorc.

I did not really like the potion system in D3, D4 is worse because the low cap at start is worse than potion cooldown.

The horse cooldown and shuttering start at release is annoying as hell.

The only thing done right maybe the starting trailer which has good bgm, the story line is soso.

The fact that the game designer(s) in chief celebrated this game success is kinda sick joke, completely outta touch.

By the end game most item drops are useless, even uniques. It feels like an endless and nonsense grind.

There is a huge gap between the performance of different builds making it a forced single option if you want to be able to do something.

On top of this Blizzard seems to not acknowledge these issues and instead they go for making the grind worse and destroying the popular builds and stats / aspects. But they don't balance others. I got to 74 because i was playing with friends. Was gonna try something different for season one but looking at the direction of the game i will just take a break and allow them to either find the right path or just kill their game.

I am so happy that Baldur's Gate 3 came out around the same time as this game to really show how terrible D4 actually is.

If you accidentally hit 'a' on the seasonal page of this game, it automatically charges your card for the 'battle pass'. Blizzard knows they made a terrible game and need to scam their players with these 'ooopsies, you accidentally bought something' tricks. Diablo 4 is not a horrible game, by any means - it possesses a solid story, with gorgeous cutscenes to boot. Its gameplay mechanics are also perfectly fine, and seems to perform relatively well on a PS5. However, the areas in which it is adequate do little to mitigate the impact of its greatest issue - it is not all that fun to play. It feels soulless and vapid in a way that prior games have not. Even in the state it was initially released in, Diablo 3 did not feel this lifeless or pseudo-predatory when it comes to time spent playing.

Whereas most console incarnations of Diablo 2 and 3 allow you to play the game offline for at least some of the time, Diablo 4 demands that you are always online. It also really wants you to engage with its controversial seasonal content. But perhaps most egregiously, the main tasks of the game - finding legendary loot and slaying powerful enemies - just isn't as fun. It all feels like banal busywork. And for a game franchise that has provided me with so much fun over the years, this feels deeply disappointing.

Diablo 4 is not worth its currently commanding price tag. It is a game that I often find myself begrudgingly convincing myself to play out of a lack of better options. Perhaps at a lower price, this game would feel like a sensible purchase; perhaps with refinement by its development team, the game might feel more engaging and fun. It is a game I regret purchasing, even as I begrudgingly state that it is a perfectly fine game with no glaring flaws - however, in comparison to what came before it, I believe it fails by trying to toe a line between a modern live-service product and the Diablo games of old. I recommend either waiting for its price to drop, or checking out either Diablo 3 or Path of Exile if you are looking for more cost-effective isometric ARPGs to play.

    - As for an action game, the gameplay has a minimal fun factor to it, spamming two buttons over and over, and because of the terrible energy system, most of the time I was using the first spell just to get energy back.
    - Scaling could be okay if you would have any sense of progression, but because the good gear is almost impossible to drop, it's just not fun to engage in anything. - just rush the story.
    - Also scaling with the current system ruins the sense of progression completely.
    - The story itself is not bad, and side missions are okay-ish, but the rest with the slow gameplay was a "skip" to me.
    - The world is okay, I preferred the world design from Diablo 3 more, but it's just my preference.
    - The game is laggy! And buggy...
    - Horse riding is not very good
    - COOLDOWNS ON EVERYTHING! Why am I walking SO SLOW!?
    - Paid Battle Pass and Store in a 100 euro game is a joke, haven't I paid for the product already?

I feel like the game was designed to be hated. No fun, no progression, just greed, and annoyance. Super disappointing.

Then since i played the sorc class the field of view (FOV) started to really annoy me. AS a ranged class you cant help but to play the same as melee since camera distance is SO CLOSE and the angle is so bad you cant see anything until you are almost on top of it! Camera felt nauseating aswell.

After about the third village it the world and the monsters started to look and feel the same everywhere i went. By then the story had lost all momentum and i was left to aimlessly wander (that was about 5th hour mark)

After that was more of the same and when i understood that i didnt like the game at all it was too late to refund it´.

The new update exemplifies a growing trend within the industry, one that substitutes genuine player enjoyment and rich content with a psychologically manipulative grind. It's a phenomenon that serves neither the players nor the long-term health of the franchise.

Patch 1.1, far from offering substantive content, only seems to amplify the grind, widening the rift between the developer's promises and the player's reality. This approach is the antithesis of what has made the gaming industry thrive. Games have historically been about escaping the daily grind, not immersing ourselves in a digital one. The intricate layers of joy, challenge, and reward are what make games irresistible, not the artificial lengthening of gameplay through tedious tasks.

While it is not uncommon to find games that require some degree of grind to progress, Diablo IV’s latest patch takes this to an unhealthy extreme. It neglects the wide spectrum of players, catering only to the most dedicated who have ample time to invest. This is not an inclusive approach. Many casual players who would love to immerse themselves in the rich lore and challenging battles Diablo IV promises are left feeling alienated and unappreciated.

Instead of cultivating a healthy relationship with their player base, the developers have chosen a path that fuels division and fosters toxicity. Their focus appears to be centered on profits, with little regard for the gamer's experience. This exploitative trend is the true villain in the gaming community, creating a divide between players and the games they once loved.

Pre-orders once represented a pact of trust, a statement of faith in the developer's vision. Yet, Diablo IV, like many games of late, uses it as a gateway to secure commitment before unveiling a gameplay model that borders on manipulation. The pre-order system has been warped into a shroud that masks the lack of creative solutions for engaging gameplay, leaving players with a sour taste of regret.

The Diablo franchise, renowned for its deeply satisfying action and atmospheric world, has been diluted by a patch that seems more concerned with maintaining player engagement than providing a meaningful gaming experience. The unfulfilling grind, the focus on the endless chase of illusory achievements, is indicative of a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes a game enjoyable.

Developers have the power and responsibility to shape the gaming community. They are the architects of our digital realms and the guardians of our shared experiences. It's time they reconsider their approach, shifting their focus from profits to players. After all, games are crafted for players to enjoy, not for developers to exploit. The real currency of any game is the joy it brings to its players. Once developers grasp this concept, they might just rediscover the secret to crafting masterpieces that resonate with us all. In its current state, Diablo IV and its latest patch fail to uphold this crucial understanding. We can only hope that the developers will rekindle their passion for delivering rewarding experiences and steer the franchise back on course before it's too late.

The flavor just isn't there, it's dry. I rarely even care about the loot I pick up because most of it isn't usable without restructuring your entire build around a probably temporary piece of gear that doesn't seem to really feel any better. Diablo 4 has taken away the joy of finding a new legendary and replaced with a great deal of "meh". I thought the throwback to a Diablo 2 style skill tree would be great, but they sucked the life out of that as well with punitive rising costs for changing skills, the skill bar is much too small too explore your abilities and experiment. The story is okay, the main character voice actors are excellent, but ultimately no matter how good of a job they did, the ending was anticlimactic and forgettable. I've little doubt they will milk it for DLC before too long, but honestly, why bother? They put in a half effort on the main game, and I've little interest in rewarding their laziness by paying them again to do a little bit better. Blizzard used to be great, and I will always appreciate the work they once did. Maybe if Activation gets their mitts off of Blizzard they will be a gaming company again instead of the soul less corporate entity that their newest game mirrors.

On a minor side note, I really miss hearing Brian George's Abd al-Hazir monster entries and James Hong's jewelcrafter story telling, little things like that being barely present at all in DIablo 4, the small details like that added up to make a game that felt far less empty. Diablo 3 was far from perfect, but at least it was fun. Diablo 4 just feels grindy and hollow to me.

Not letting you get your mount until 30 hours of gameplay, inconsistent graphics, every class having a built in dodge (a diablo immortal feature im pretty sure), and a plethora of other things all points to this being a massive cash grab. With some of these AAA companies, beta testing is the new alpha, and release is the new beta. With d3, the end game was non existent. The full diablo experience was beating the game 4 times exactly as it was. Across each class it evened out to beating the game 20 times, and then youre done. What an absolute trashcan of a model. I cant believe that they released that. Now a decade later, the same issue prevails in a new skin. Do nightmare dungeons endlessly, and thats the end game.

They had many, many years of working with their player base over D3. Those lessons should have transferred over to the release of D4. It did not. Instead Activi-zzard has chosen to release a game that feels like its in early access. Their fan boys will jump for joy as each path is released containing small scraps to enhance their experience. All the meanwhile it is a ruse to keep players, and to seem like they're doing anything. Im calling it now at the end of july in 2023. The patches they release over the next year are gonna be things that should have been on launch, and the amount of work they will do over the year could realistically be done next month. Instead, they choose to use words that make it seem like every little change is so hard, and that they're THINKING about doing certain things. Its all a total joke. They want to string people along as much as they can. The game is addicting, but most people equate that to fun. Its not fun to run around in this game. The side quests, are not fun. Doing the storyline, walking 80% of it before they give you a mount, is not fun. Doing nothing but nightmare dungeons for marginally less gear, is not fun. Doing a stat squish and a cross the board nerf in your second patch, is not fun. The game is addictive because big money paid for it to have qualities that would create that. If you stop for a moment and ask yourself how much fun the general experience is at the end of the day, I think most people will realize youre just playing watered down WoW in arpg form, with little content to its name. They just make it take forever (remember, d3 was beating the game 20 mf times across all the classes) to give the mind some sense of reward.

This company is a horror antagonist with slashed off face covering theirs, and that plastered on face is blizzard north. Theyre gone, this company is nothing at all like them, and this new one has passed a new level of insufferable that passes even EA at this point.

Its tragic all the names I grew up with are as horrific as they are. if blizzard gave even the tinyest crap about their player base, theyd pump out the quality of life at about 20x the speed they currently are. They are fully capable of doing so, they just dont want to cause of paying employees, or to draw out their profits for share holders. This game is not for the player, its for the company.

I regret each of my 150 hours I put into this game before I realized what was happening. It was a massive waste of time and thanks to this game, I will never, ever, give another cent to blizzard. I drew that line with EA and Ubisoft, and now someone I once loved so dearly who carry's their name is also across that line on the "Do not buy" category.

Its barely even a game company so much anymore as it is a money grubbing time waster. It should be moved to the classification of simulation games because all it does is simulate pure misery.

There is also a lack of very basic features like: the leaderboard, simple and obvious QoL features like a paragon respec button or gem bag, awful xp, sweeping nerfs, etc., make it painfully obvious that the dev team was not trying to make Diablo 4 a complete and finished product. They were banking on their Diablo brand story to hook enough people that they could just finish the rest of developing the game later through live service patch cycles before any of the casual base really took any notice. That is predatory and pretty disgusting and this game deserves less than a 5 until they deliver what they promised. If D3 is anything to go by, come back in about 5 years and it might be in an acceptable state. Expand

Pretty good mobile game. For some reason it sells on PC too, without any UI/UX rework, but with graphic bugs, MMO-wannabe mechanics and tons of monetization.

Story is not bad, 3 point for this.

If you haven't bought it yet, I wish I was you. What a Trainwreck. Blizzard is an empty husk of its former self and it pains me to say it. The game is pretty, the cutscenes are good (but nowhere near where they should be), Blizzard lost its touch with reality. I'll wait a year to play their games, at least, from now on. Expand

News flash blizzard; the game doesn't last longer if the mobs have inexhaustible heath bars, it just makes the game tedious and nigh impossible to enjoy. To make matters even worse, you have the gall to demand money for a premium season track without adding some decent content? You think adding a hanful of new, yet awful, items and some cosmetics will loosen our pursestrings? Have fun suckling the last bit of milk out of the average idiot's teat as you continue your malpractices.
Even after all these years I'm appalled at how you people make the dumbest decisions. First you thought implementing automated matchmaking in d2r instead of familiarised lobbies was a great idea and now this? I'll tell you, your studio truly has a knack for ruining things that started out well. Choke on it, you dimwitted c***s. Last time I will be buying one of your cursed products.

By the way your ladder launch is a f***ing joke. Login queues are laughable at best and when you manage to invoke the patience to somehow get in, the game crashes during every loading screen. I'd rather be trapped in a blizzard than play your steaming pile of s*** games any longer.

I have reached level 90 in this game, and i cannot bare myself to log on, it's extremely boring everything is a freaking chore, there is no sense of progression, the items are boring and generic the rewards for doing extremely difficult content, are the same as doing easy mode content, its just a mess of a game, do not buy this, maybe in 10 years right? This developer team should all be fired and ashamed to launch such a god awful game in the state it's in. I paid 90€ for this garbage, with a season pass and i won't even play it because the game isn't worth my time and yours.

One wonders why Blizzard keeps coming up with such insane ideas. How to make a Season 1 completely unattractive before it even starts. If you still want players in Season 2, you should listen to the players now. Microsoft is pretty stupid to buy such a company as Activision Blizzard.

For Diablo 3 Fans this is a slight upgrade. For Diablo 2 Fans this is just extremely bitter.
They have removed most parts of what makes RPG's great and interesting, therefor we are left with little to no replayability. No randomized Dungeons/Area's just the same boring stuff with stolen mechanics from PoE (not well implemented). Even in Hardcore the Endgame is boring af and if you die its

The game could have been good. But the devs are obviously not interested in delivering a good game. They deliver patch after patch that makes the game worse, refuse to elaborate, ignore all feedback and talk about "long time health of the game". You shouldn't buy this. You shouldn't play this. Blizzard proved again that they absolutely HATE their players.

They say they need 4 MONTHS!!! to fix BASIC bugs and missing features like : Not enough inventory space. I am sure it's totally normal for a multi billion dollar comapny to need 4 months for a little fix. This game wasn't made for you. Wasn't made for us. It was made to make as much money with season passes as possible. And to make sure we all play the season and need the season pass, everything else gets a nerf. I pray Microsoft fires every single Blizzard manager.

This game was not fun and did not live up to PS5 standards BEFORE they (Blizzard/Activision/Microsoft), made backwards thinking PATCH that made game a huge slog.

The Live Action Service model and pointless cosmetics store like Call of Duty is what is RUINING the game industry. I refuse to play an online-only game any more after this. I refuse to play a game that requires a new patch

I refuse to play a game that requires extra account log-in or registration ON TOP os PS5 Playstation account I AM ALREADY LOGGED IN AS. I refuse to verify anything with SMS.

This version of Diablo 4 and the developers immature, mediocre ideas and uneducated weak creativity, carried by in store purchases and constant patches to fix their mistake,s and impatience to publish unfinished projects; all this; has caused me to forever boycott any future games by these publishers.

The underlying technology for this game, the game world, the story and basic design are excellent. But the game fundamentally does not work. Unfortunately, the developers seem more interested in slowing down progress so they can sell you a battlepass to speed it back up. Do not buy.

Listen...this game is simply not fun. The level scaling ruins any enjoyment going to different areas of the game, as all enemies are the same difficulty everywhere.

The loot is an absolute bore finding gear doesnt feel good.

The newest patch has made Diablo 4 unplayable. The creative team keeps taking player fun away and makes it harder and harder to enjoy the game. It's obvious the team is being puppeted by studio heads that have no clue what they are doing and are intentionally trying to damped player enjoyment to prioritize stats for execs. Pass on this game and wait for balders gate 3.

Let's nerf every class, increase enemy hp and decrease xp across the board. Artificially making the gaming experience slower is a sad excuse for lack of end game content. Was excited for Season 1, but this new update changed that. Also, $70 for a game, but a paid battle pass and $25 skins in the shop? Nice one Blizzard.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
