I never played any of the other Diablo games, so I was pretty hyped to discover that 4 was fun during the beta, as I really enjoyed theory crafting my builds (love sprinting through enemies like with Boulderdash from Outriders) so imagine my surprise when I discover I paid $70 to be a glorified beta tester. Nothing I did mattered, because new content is locked to seasons, and everything got nerfed! Hopefully one of two things happens, they issue refunds to everyone who feels wronged by their decision making, or they revert the 1.1 patch changes. I understand nerfs are needed for the long term health of the game, but what about NOW? It was already a struggle to get through the endgame content without the cookie cutter meta builds, and now you just overall take more damage and do less damage. Personally, I was also pretty upset with the whole "make a new character for the seasons" thing, but I got over it when I realized I could just play different classes. Now my motivation to play has just been sapped completely. Guess it is my fault though, buying this game given the reputation Blizzard has built for themselves. Really just mind boggling to me that they know how their damage formula works and how the game progresses, and they still decided to make these changes. Makes me wonder what their internal comms look like. Do the actual programmers get any input? Do we get any input (lol)? I don't know. What I do know is first impressions matter, and if this is how they operate when bringing new content, I think the negative response from the community is warranted. Expand

Fast paced, leveling was great, builds that were decent and being able to clear Nightmare Dungeons quickly. Fast forward 48 hours before the Season 1 release, the game got completely obliterated. It is NOT the same game that came out a month ago. Virtually every class was nerfed hardcore. The only one that seemed to come out semi unscathed was the Rogue. Sorc is obliterated... They focused on stuff that was completely irrelevant. They should have focused on fixing resistances which they have said are clearly broken. The 0 review bomb that it has been getting over the past 24 hours is rightfully deserved. I think I should be entitled to a refund based on such a hardcore bait and switch tactic. I wouldn't be surprised if this opens the door to a class action lawsuit. Expand

Great launch, was fun to play until they blew everything up. Now it's a boring grind that takes much longer to achieve anything. Instead of raising everything to a similar level, they decided to cut it to the bone. With that they cut out the fun and left the boring plain parts.

I was hoping that season 1 would alleviate this issue (along with a laundry list of other issues). Instead of fixing sorcerer and various quality of life issues, they nerfed my class into the ground and made the game significant more tedious. While I understand that certain classes and mechanics need balancing, these issues were based on how damage was calculated. the patch changes nothing about the damage calculations and instead a giant wet damage blanket over the game. Either the developers have no understanding of their own game or Blizzard is intentionally trying to slow the game down (I believe it’s both). I regret spending $70 on this game when there are significantly better games on the market this cycle. Expand

The only good things in the entire patch were bug fixes to things that should've never have made it past beta testing to begin with as well as making uber-boss rewards solo only. The rest is completely out of touch and incoherent blabber that honestly makes me think they looked up and tried to copy POE patch notes and accidentally only looked at Ruthless.

Instead of adding complex and challenging aspiring content for players to strive for, increasing rewards and incentives to do such content over just regular ARPG-like farming, they nerfed player power by 50% across the board. I suppose adding gold and magic find % modifiers to each tier of Nightmare Dungeon was too hard as well.

Rerolling items at the occultist is too expensive? Tough **** you now have like 3 completely useless affixes for 4 out of 5 classes to help you brick your items even faster.

Overworld is boring and meaningless past level 5? Gotcha, let's make helltide chests expensive as **** for no reason while retaining the same (terrible) rewards. Helltide cinder drops were stealth nerfed btw, so that's pretty cool. Do enough for your forgotten souls and then never do them again! Back to Nightmare Dungeons you go!

You wanna farm more gold to reroll your good items? Unlucky bro **** you, normal dungeons are completely irrelevant now because they drop ****all compared to Nightmare Dungeons. Best source of gold making? Boosting. Oh yea I forgot, that's gone too, let's go.

Pointless to even bring up the whole season "mechanic" of malignant hearts, which are incredibly boring as per their twitter post, not very powerful at all AND they make you "opt out" (aka force you) of wearing 750 armor on your rings via the skulls. You get ANOTHER cheat death mechanic though, wonderful! That's exactly what HC needed.

Search function? Stash tabs? Loot filters? Density buffs? Real endgame content? Making resistances actually functional? Fixing gold sinks? Balancing underused skills in a meaningful way? Balancing irrelevant affixes so that they're competitive with the better ones? Reworking Sorcs so that their class ACTUALLY WORKS in the game they paid $100 for? **** you. Enjoy the battlepass though, it's real cheap.

Oh let's not forget that they said they'd fix VRAM memory leak but then completely retconned it by not including it in the patch notes, as well as literally any other fix to game stability. I had zero crashes prior to this patch and now I've gotten Fenris like 5 times since the patch. Cool! Thanks for that.

Could go on and on, but the bottom line is that I TRULY believe this is the singular worst major patch in ARPG history, and the only way they can possibly save the game (not the season, THE GAME) is either panic delaying the Season 1 launch while trying to clean up their own mess, or completely deleting the patch and just launching the season with the previous foundation. They just put out job openings for basically every position under the sun for D4 like 2 weeks ago, maybe wait until those are filled and then try again.

You wanna know the real kicker? Double goblins would've been better than this.

After losing interest in my character after the campaign it is hard to have any motivation in leveling the new character with the memory in the back of my head that there is no end game. There is no end goal. With no sense of progression.

This gives me no interest to level up another character just knowing that there is nothing to keep me interested, combined with the lackluster sense of progression and itemization.

Patch ruined the game. Really enjoyed it while it lasted. It’s like blizzard rolled out this patch to spite its user-base. The nerfs didn’t even satisfy the goals of the developers to reduce need for things like crit & vulnerable damage. I understand the game needed to provide a bit more of a challenge, but they could have been much more reasonable. For those reasons, I’m out…

However, to my dismay, the recent update has left me disheartened and deeply dissatisfied with the state of the game. While previous patches had brought forth exciting content and improvements, this latest iteration seems to have missed the mark, leaving Diablo 4 in an unfavorable state.

Tthe update introduced several game-altering mechanics that have negatively impacted the overall gameplay. The changes to character abilities and skills feel arbitrary and out of touch with the core Diablo experience. Previously enjoyable and powerful builds have been rendered ineffective, forcing players to adopt unfamiliar and unappealing playstyles. This shift disrupts the sense of progression that made Diablo 4 enjoyable, leaving players feeling frustrated and disconnected from their characters.

As a result of these disappointing changes, the Diablo 4 community is now left feeling disheartened and disenchanted. Long-time players are finding it challenging to justify investing their time in a game that no longer meets their expectations. The lack of compelling content and the questionable design choices have made Diablo 4 an unfavorable choice compared to other similar games on the market.

In conclusion, Diablo 4's new patch is a missed opportunity and a significant letdown for fans of the series. The lack of meaningful content, questionable mechanics, technical issues, and overall decline in quality have all contributed to making the game unfavorable. As a devoted fan, I sincerely hope that the developers will take the community's feedback into account and work diligently to restore the magic that once made Diablo 4 an exceptional gaming experience. Until then, I'm afraid that my journey through the world of Sanctuary will remain on hold.

A Major Disappointment - Latest Diablo 4 Patch

As a longtime fan of the Diablo franchise, it genuinely pains me to have to write such a review, but the latest patch for Diablo 4 has left me with no other choice. Blizzard has historically managed to meet or even surpass expectations with their continuous updates, however, this time around, the implementation feels more like a misstep than an upgrade.

For starters, the new balancing adjustments made to the classes seem significantly out of sync. While it's understood that a certain level of class balancing is necessary, the degree of these changes has disrupted the strategic gameplay. Now, my Sorcerer feels less like the master of the elements and more like a wand-waving wizard from a children's book.

While the Diablo franchise has always been known for its resilience and potential to bounce back, this latest update has undeniably damaged the game's reputation. It is my sincerest hope that Blizzard takes the critical feedback from its dedicated player base seriously and swiftly acts to rectify the current state of Diablo 4.

In its current state, I cannot in good conscience recommend Diablo 4 to any prospective gamers, especially those who cherished the previous entries. This update does not honor the legacy of the Diablo franchise, nor does it offer the gaming experience we have come to expect from Blizzard. Until we see substantial improvements, my advice would be to keep your distance from this current iteration.

Cutscenes, narration, character development is excellent. I also had some fun in the early stages of endgame, until I hit level 90 with my necro. I started grinding real hard and hit level 100 with ALL renown complete. What frustrates me the most is this most ridiculous loot system of prodding through my inventory of rare items. Basically any unique is trash at this point and I have 3-5 copies of the same drops over and over. Uber-uniques are basically impossible to get 1 and 800,000 chance for a drop which is confusing.. Why can’t these Uber uniques have a much higher chance to drop in T70-100? What the hell is the point of T50 and above and the sigil dungeons are so bloody repetitive. Even with this new patch, the bosses are the same **** we fought in the last batch of terribly boring dungeons over and over. They also just increased the chests of mystery for 250 cinders with no better chances of higher tier loot. In addition, the drop rate for cinders is definitely less. For the most, these chests contain rares or trash legendaries to be sold to the vendors. Once you hit 100 needing mats is not necessary, just gold at this point. Then when you finally find something worthwhile, a rare item you go spend all the hard earned gold at the occultist to change one stat. I spent 20M gold rolling for crit chance on some new gloves that never rolled! I feel that this dev team doesn’t even play games. Maybe they are trying to sabotage the experience to get people to re download WOW because that one has to pay monthly sybscription. Whatever the case, the game is a disappointment to say the least. Final thoughts, play it for the campaign. Reaching level 100 isn’t worth it. Who’s playing Baldur’s Gate 3?!?! Expand

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.
