The most un-fun ARPG in existance.Low mob density because their awful servers can handle more, and even then continue to lag out constantly. Some classes speed clearing endgame while others can barely handle enemies of the same level. Awful and restricitive class balance and design. Everyone should had known better after they canceled OW2. Blizzard is long gone.

Save your money and wait 2 or 3 years for the game to get content. This game honestly should have waited another year to release. If you want to play it for just the story, then that's the only worthwhile thing in the game right now.

Unfortunate L for the one of the most nostalgic RPG series of a generation.

To start off, I've played Diablo 1, Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 in extensive time frames. Well over 4,000 hours in each game. Diablo 4 makes you feel like you are barely keeping up with the difficulty curve and is very contingent on your skills and gear. If you do not put the proper point in the proper skill for your build using the gear you find, you'll find the monsters have become harder when you level. It's "match level" scaling can be an absolute hinderance to people who do not know what build to run or have not found the gear/legendary aspects to create the build.

The game has many problems from bugs and exploits to developers who actively work to lower the fun of the game. If one were to ask me if they should buy this game, I'd tell them wait 2-3 years (Diablo 3's timeframe from release to an acceptable game). I have nothing to tell these people as I have to be honest and I cannot just sit there and assume these developers will make any meaningful changes the community has been very vocal about. They have their vision to make money off of us and they aren't willing to change that in the slightest.

The reviews from game companies are clearly paid reviews or they played 1-25 and thought the game was gonna be that fun throughout. Levels 1-50 is where the game feels completed. Post 50 the game is a grindfest with constant nerfs to loot by the developers. The developers in this game have a vendetta against it's players that play it harder than anyone else because those players found the holes of content that was non-existent. The game is for now, a lost cause.

It pains me to say it, I am a huge fan of the Diablo series. Diablo 1 was great, Diablo 2 was it's peak, Diablo 3 was showing cracks in Triple A publishers armor and Diablo 4 is the full collapse of the series. Hacking and slashing through demons is great, but when the monster variety never changes and the dungeon boss variety never changes, you feel like the last dungeon is the same as the one you're doing now.

I put 14 days of gameplay into the game since release and I have not touched it since July 7th. They told us there was a big patch coming on July 18th, two days before the Season 1 launch. They nerfed everything. It was worse than I could've ever imagined. They nerfed all top end damage buckets and multiplicative damage types because they are worried top players will beat the content too fast yet again and realize their Season 1 mechanics are not good either and right back to a lowered playerbase they will go and nerfed all defensives by 50%! They made getting through the game more tedious than launch by nerfing EXP where you have no choice but do Nightmare Dungeons on your character to level, that will just kill you faster because your defenses are nerfed by 50% and if you can't tank them, you have to kill them faster or it leads to more dying - but that is nerfed by 50% on average with some builds seeing upwards of 75% nerfs to the overall damage.

I don't know what their goal is, but this ain't it. Save yourself money. Don't give Blizzard and Activision any more time or effort. The only way this company will change is if the same thing that happened to Diablo 3 happens to Diablo 4. Everyone gets fed up, 3,500 players are left playing then they make some meaningful changes to make the game fun. For now, stay away and just keep an eye on the Microsoft takeover to hopefully fix this abomination.

They had an OK base game that needed work, but then they completely unbalanced it and didn't fix the issues they started with.

I played the launch version with lvl 80 Rogue and 85 Druid, they are both broken now. I won't be joining season 1. They made all classes too weak, with maybe necro as exception.

The dev team has, on the surface, created a good game with solid, tight, responsive gameplay that feels good to play. That is where the positives end. The game is absolutely riddled with QOL issues that are so painfully obvious even after 10 minutes of playing the game, that it seems like the devs have truly never play tested for more than a couple mins.

Also, half the systems in the game are just terrible. the mount system is an absolute abomination, the itemization completely blows. I honestly could write 10 pages about all that is wrong with the game it’s kind of insane to think about how much they’ve missed with the team and budget they have. Then to top it all off, 7/18 released a patch which I can only describe as a complete slap in the face. Not a single QOL update, nerfed all damage and survivability, nerfed helltides for literally no reason. And the cherry on the cake is making the dungeon exit timer go from 3 seconds to 5 seconds. Nobody asked for this change. It is purely a time sink that blizzard thought they could sneak in. Absolutely reprehensible. 1 star is generous. the game deserves zero

I waited for Season 1 to give this game proper feedback, and my intention was to give it a solid 8/10, but in light of recent changes introduced by the game developers, I changed my mind. A 3/10 is the best I can do.

Slaughtering hellish legions is fun to the point where you ask yourself "What else is there for me?". Endgame is lacking, but it's normal for a game that has been just released, so people were waiting for new content that was promised by Blizzard.

Instead, we got the 1.1 patch that butchered the game for many.

The problem is this patch has taken lots of things from the players that made the game fun for them, and given nothing substantial in return. You could have spent a hundred hours building your character to work the way you want using the rules available, and now it's pretty much useless and requires a grand rebuild (respec that cost in-game resources, as well as looting new items). It's not that the game enabled new, better builds you may want to consider - your current character got nerfed to the ground not allowing you to enjoy the content you were enjoying just a day before. One day you log in, play, and have fun, the next you get slaughtered by a random white mob out of nowhere and you don't know what's happening. An awful experience for casual players and not a pleasant one for pros either.

What is worse, some classes' design is simply broken. Looking at the Sorc class, there are basically no significant choices you can make, and the only viable playstyle for endgame activities is "Stun-Kill / if doesn't work run around until the next stun is available". It seems Blizz wanted to address this as well, but instead, they've just nerfed this type of build to the ground while offering no alternatives and making the Sorcerer class significantly weaker than all other classes... just two days before the season starts and people were making plans to go for this class.

At the same time, none of the quality of life issues people were asking for even before the release were addressed. Stash is a mess, the game is basically a garbage management system where you drop 30 items and spend time thinking if any of them are worth keeping, because if you don't you will run out of storage space really quickly. For a game that was in design for 10 years not being able to provide a solution some games had 10 years ago is scandalous.

It seems as if there was a team working on matching digits in Excel who never actually experienced the game and had no idea what they were doing. There seems to be no real plan for how the game should be balanced, and since the release they've been just changing the numbers chaotically in the hope it will somehow get better. Instead of fixing the core of these issues, they just keep adding or subtracting digits.

And while I understand they may still address this, these were to be addressed BEFORE the game launch. It doesn't require a degree in rocket science to understand how the game you're designing works, and if you learn it after the game is released and decide to take away what makes the game fun for people, you have to also accept the consequences with the review of your game dropping significantly and players moving away (aka not spending money on your "live service" anymore).
Additionally, this is the first Diablo game that took away the option to play single-player from people, which is an absolute nightmare and causes tons of problems.

While the game has a lot of potential - the consisten interaction with the devs, shows a complete lack of understanding. Starting out and leveling through the campaign has merits - the visuals are good, story great. Everything else - meh, and worse and worse over time. The patch 1.1 put the nail in the coffin.

Campaign playthrough in itself not worth the investment for this "AAA" game.

Blizzard decided to put all the good and bad things into a blender and turned it into a thick, disgusting paste they called Patch 1.1. No one wants it now and for the most part it makes people sick.

While I agree that balancing is important for true MMO games what blizzard has done recently with Diablo IV which is not a true mmo instead a casual coop game is completely ridiculous they not only nerfed the game but they killed all the fun and the game itself by not having content instead making it harder/longer to do the same content during season one as a fox to having nothing to do post 100!?!?!? I uninstalled last week once I hit 100 and killed Uber Lilith anticipating a reinstall during season 1 to experience lots of new content with the anticipated amazing new patch 1.1.0 now I have no plans to come back to sanctuary and I wish I could get a refund as this felt like this was a $20 Indy game experience as the story was excellent but Indy game short. This is not the experience I /we waited years for I expected Diablo IV to be a game we would play after dinner together for an hour or so for years to come! Happily it looks like a really great game by truly passionate developers is just around the corner with Baldurs Gate 3 to possibly fill the gap left by blizzard and Diablo 4 but that would be another review and we must wait to see (although everything looks to be roses there)! What I have such a hard time understanding is why is Blizzard trying so hard to nerf a game that is really a co-op game definitely not a true MMO competitive style game?

Thankfully I look forward to spending more time with family in the coming weeks especially with my grand children now that this game will not waste anymore of my precious time trying to hit 100 quickly and get to a missing end game

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.
