Lilith and Lorath are super awesome.

    Cons:
The core balancing of the game is off the walls bad. IE. Some classes can use more gear than others (bar gets to weild 4 weapons and get the stats vs a sorc getting a staff or a wand and focus)
End game content is a dumpster fire due to said balancing issues
Music in a lot of places not great
Most side quests are WoW-esque fetch quests and not lore driven

Overall if you just want the story that you will have a enjoyable-ish time. If you were hoping for another great Diablo game to sink thousands of hours into than move along.

The game is amazing, I don't know what everyone else is smoking around here. This is coming from a D2 veteran. And yes, I HAVE made it to the endgame, it has its problems (quite a few actually) but it's nothing they can't work out, and they have already addressed most issues. People on metacritic gotta be trolling.

p.s. yeah, having a cosmetics shop sucks, but it's the standard

    - Can't track sidequests, crashing all over the place
    - Resists just don't work, leaving armor and health your only options
    - Their end game is pointless; Diablo games are supposed to reward you for increased risk. This version doesn't. Gear drops are based off your character level and not the dungeon level. This means running a 40 minute dungeon isn't as valuable as running 4 x 10 min dungeons. It's not supposed to be this way. We want to enjoy the challenge and be rewarded for it.
    - The story line is short and dumb.
    - Nearly every aspect of this game has some unpolished wonkiness, for instance there's no Diablo IV graphic on my OS tool bar. I don't want to buy a AAA game and see a white piece of paper as the game icon. Especially when the game crashes as much as this one.
    - The season play doesn't include new content. Season play is supposed to be a NEW season each time you play it, not the same old content that's been done before on repeat.

While in Diablo you spend a lot of time looking at new gear, this new version tipped the balanced. You spend too much time looking at gear now with all these stupid sub divided stats. Leaving gems in to take up inventory space just to have something to fix that the community will be happy about it is an obvious play and doesn't make up for the half finished nature of the game. This isn't a Blizzard Diablo, which always has something innovative even if it doesn't work you need to try. This is a washed out version that actually makes the game crappier. Booooooo go back to mobile games Blizzard you're embarrassing yourself.

So much hype. The sad fact of the matter is this game is just not fun to play. Usually with a Blizzard game when the servers go down I wait until they come back up. In game shops have over priced junk that you'll replace in the next 5 minutes. The gear crafting system is gone. The story is dull. (Why do I have to ask permission to fight the big bad threatening the world??) Going anywhere in the world is a slog. Does anyone really want to take 20 minutes smashing hordes of damage sponges just to click some stupid tablet to hear useless rambling?

There is some character customization but no matter what I select it's just unsatisfying. In game gear is hideous (at least for the mage). Level 30 "legendary" gear still looks like peasant rags. There seem to be a lot of spells and abilities to play with. Unfortunately, you have to pay to respec every time you want to try something new. This discourages me from trying to find a build that I'll have fun with because if you die it's 10% durability and about 10% of your money pool to repair it.

Combat is just bad. Why is there a cooldown on the dodge button?? I have to keep dropping my AOE spells on bosses because I'm too busy running around avoiding the junk that the boss is throwing around. This makes for super long, drawn out battles, that end in drops that are worse than the gear I had heading into the fight.

Why is this thing on-line only? I can't even pause the game to answer the phone, the door or grab something to eat. Why can't I start my own game and invite people I want to play with?

This game is a mess with little or no redeeming qualities. I would NOT recommend it to anyone.

I really hope they change their mind and allow loadouts, because even as a super casual player I'd like the ability to save my builds so I can experiment with a new build without losing my old one, and storage is definitely too limited, but overall a very solid game. It's not too complicated, while at the same time being challenging when needed. Also, the couch co-op is what sets this game above the rest. Maybe people would be giving it better reviews if they had friends to play with. Doing anything alone for long periods of time is enough to make someone hate something such as a video game. When I'm able to play, I enjoy playing for long periods of time, then when I'm getting irritated or burned out I go outside, work out, and maybe even touch grass. This hard reset really helps to keep me grounded and reminds me that it's just for fun. There's more to life than this game, or any video game for that matter, so I'll enjoy it when I can with the friends and family that will enjoy it with me. Expand

Grinding didn't feel rewarding at all, enemy's scale with you what's also lazy as hell, open world sucks, walking is the most you do in this game. That's it. 2 points for the graphic. Sure, ARPGs have reptation and grind but some have found ways to keep this interesting. Diablo IV lets you loose on a world map with dungeons that are beautiful and can be fun for the first couple of runs but sadly they get boring very quickly. After a few runs you start to see the same patterns, enemy types.

I keep thinking of the term 'surface level', I think everything seems great as you're whizzing by on the story but when you stop to have a look, it gets very dull and fast.

The short number of skills you can have assigned seems like a step back and the PC experience feels like its held back.

    Disappointing.

The renown grind was announced to not carry over into seasons (except for lilith statues and map exploration). You will need to regrind side quests/dungeons/strongholds/waypoints again every season.

The current endgame grind is awful. World tier 3 has you fully regrind your gear (sacred). World tier 4 does the same (ascendant). At no point was the endgame fun.

Blizzard wasn't sure what they wanted besides wanting this to be a game as a service/mmo lite (I'm looking at you world events and weekly reset world bosses). What they ended up making was something that feels like you're in a premium mobile game that is a mediocre at best ARPG. The game feels empty unless you're in a town or at a world boss. The world feels empty. There are times the game itself may as well have a D1/D2 offline mode because nothing about it feels like a online game.

They ripped off POE maps with sigils and recently nerfed monster density (wtf?). Progression in general feels bad. It's boring. The gameplay is unexciting and uneventful.

The exploration progress for each zone was ripped straight out of Lost Ark. I think copy pasting lost ark was the goal but they ended up just making a mixed jumble of all of their games plus any popular ARPG of the last 10 years. Unfortunately they copy pasted all the wrong things.

We are once again beta testing a game for a AAA dev that is nothing but a pile of rip offs of every other games shortcomings. Do yourself a favor and leave this one alone until it has its reaper of souls moment.

A game that comprises it's UI to make console and PC bad.
Level scaling makes gaining any levels feel like a setback. It also makes party play feel imbalanced.

This is a review written by and for players age 25-40 who played various Blizzard games, and the ARPG in general. I looked forward to Diablo 4 for about a year thinking they could not go wrong with this game. Hearing the first reviews saying it is better than Diablo 3, I felt Diablo 4 could not go wrong.

Oh boy was I wrong. Diablo has 2 playmodes. Regular and Hardcore. In the first you can die, respawn and play the game till endgame. Death is of little consequence. In this experience you will quickly learn that the game is really easy most of the time and death happens, but I never truly felt like it was my fault. This is the gamemode to play when you can stand losing and wasting time, but at the risk that the endgame becomes boring REALLY quickly. Hardcore is the exact same game, but if you die, you have to start the entire game over again.

That last gamemode? That is how I like to play Diablo. Because the game can become too easy, having a permanent risk to lose a 20-80 hour character because of a single mistake, makes the entire game more enjoyable. Now here comes the biggest issue. The chance of a bug, or a disconnect being the reason you lose your hardcore character is so incredibly pronounced right now. It is going to ruin your entire experience with the game, when it happens twice in a row. Which it did for me.

But Blizzard made a game, with little to no depth. Where the game doesn't become harder over time, but you become weaker over time. Now 95% of players won't notice this at first, until their level 50 character is fighting a boss, and a level 5 barbarian just burns the boss down. Because there is level scaling ánd multiplayer coop, these two worlds don't mix. The fact that you are consistently reminded that you NEED to grind gear for hours and hours only to have the same effectiveness as someone 30 levels below you. You start to realize that 90% of this game was designed to keep players exited for new gear, upgrades and skills. Which they now NEED, to play the game with the same difficulty with people 30 levels lower than them.

What Diablo 4 is, is a 30 euro arcade game with little to no depth in gameplay, generic gaming mechanics that are seen in Diablo 3 and Word of Warcraft. It literally does nothing original. The story is great, and you feel like someone who truly is facing evil without any self preservation, but in reality 90% of the game is doing stupid chores for people who did something stupid with tons of demons roaming around.

And at the 50 hour mark, with I realized I was enjoying the game the most around level 30 because that was when you still feel like you look forward to something, yet are a little too weak for the stronger content. Once you hit the harder content, the game is still the exact same, but you die a little faster.

Now imagine that endgame requires you to grind for DOZENS of hours, only so you can keep up with low level players. You literally have to grind the game into boredom. To enjoy the game as much as a starting player.

They ask 70 dollars for this game, remind you the entire time to upgrade and buy coins. And deliver a product worth 30 bucks with half a story waiting for 40 dollar DLC, a "new" class and the same grind all over again.

If you think World of Warcraft can waste your time? Diablo 4 does it better.

Game is full with annoying bugs. The design choices are poor. The grind for levels is miserable, for example, just like the Renown board. That Blizzard visual quality is present in some points of the game, in others it's a bad joke.

The dev team is completely lost in their own ego (that's the only thing I can think of). It's like they never played D3 before. Half or more of the quality of life that D3 took years to get aren't in D4. The abilities balance is a mess. The game had no QA at all. You're most likely forced to play X build in the end game or you won't progress.
The only really good thing is how The Butcher is presented to you in the game. That's all.

Storyline is good, it's interesting what happens next, art is not bad.
    But cons are too much:
    1) All dungeons i visited so far feels same - kill several strong mobs, open door, kill final boss. 2) Very limited events amount, all events happens in same places. 3) Gear system is a complete disaster - 99% of loot is trash. It's very dissapointing to get a legendary item for a boss fight

    4) Most of aspects just add some % to your damage or protection.
    5) All boss fights in storyline are boring - boss damage is low, hp is high, so you just run around for 10 minutes fighting boss untill it dies.
    6) No feeling of progress at all - you will bang you head against the wall trying to get to world level 3, unless you take meta class and build.

Weird they don't point out the 10/10 bots

This game is pretty, but also, pretty soulless. I was always skeptical of the fake hype and the 10/10 shill reviews but I at least thought the game would be 4 or 5 out 10.. I was let down. I only have myself to blame. We had the betas and the footage. A game's visuals are only 1% of the whole story. you could see it was just a $100 skin over

I only have myself to blame. We had the betas and the footage. A game's visuals are only 1% of the whole story. you could see it was just a $100 skin over a bad design and clunky mess. It is as bad or worse than anthem. It has all the same features and flaws except anthems campaign was better and fighting mobs felt decent.

The campaign... omg the campaign. it took me 15-20 hours to beat the whole campaign but it felt like decades. I just wanted it to be over but it just kept dragging on and on AND ON. And at the end you literally have to fight the same fing bosses over again that you hated fighting the first time. I played on Tier 1 so things would go faster and smoother which it did for the getting from point a to point b with mobs dying fast enough unless you get the archnem mob ( poe reference, and no I hate current poe and don't play it anymore so i'm not just a poe player hating the game ). BUT THE WORST was the "bosses" or "mini bosses" that have the bars. They are just annoying meat bags in the way of playing the game you have to smack down. I guess it wouldn't be THAT bad if it was just a few in the campaign.....no you have to fight one of these boring lame pos every 2 minutes. the campaign would be half as long if they didn't put these artificial bosses that i've already forgotten the names of by the time i'm done fighting them every time you take a step. I could have beaten the campaign a little faster but I was getting the statues and aspects I needed for my build so I could feel stronger and be prepared for endgame when I got there... however it felt pointless since I never felt a power boost ONCE during gameplay. I got all the items I needed and felt like I was lvl 5 with nothing because the mobs just out scale you. The story itself was written by some diversity hire that probably used chat gpt to write most of the plot and dialogue. Most of it was just to artificially increase the game time so people like asmongold can shill and say " at least you got your $100 worth with the time you spent playing it".. pathetic. don't get me started on this guy straight up gaslighting people and blaming them for not liking this trash.

The endgame is quite literally just diablo immortal and anthem combined. you run around doing nothing but the game says you're doing something so you huff on the copium tank and sit there with a blank stare on your face as you run from location to location.

The dungeons are the worst most trash pos garbage low iq never played a game in your life design i've ever seen. You know what we want when we do a "dungeon" , "rift", "map"? we want to pop in and BLAST. You know what we get in d4? mini campaign missions, just like in anthem. You go in and you have no idea how long it'll last. They make you pick up ish, they make you find random crap to get things from them, they MAKE YOU KILL 95% OF A DUNGEON THE SIZE OF CALIFORNIA and more..... the worst part? dungeons can have multiple "layers" or "dungeons" in a dungeon and they ALL have one of these requirements to complete it. And what makes it worse is when you just want a dungeon to last 4 minutes and you get 10 cursed shrines and chests.... REMOVE THESE. you know how many times I was fighting the butcher, saw a shrine, and was like "THANK GOD" AND IT WAS A FING CURSED SHRINE!!?!?!?!? TOO MANY!

Gear is boring. i can see where they were going and i've thought about how a system like this could work before and i'm glad they did it to show me I was wrong. other than that it's not even worth the time to get in to.

The game has 3 of the 4 big NOPES for me when it comes to games
    1. jumping / climbing puzzles - they're not really puzzles but they exist and ruin horses
    2. mokoko seeds - whoever puts these in games should be in prison for life
    3. paid early access ( days not early access status ) which anthem had too
    4. sailing - there's always room for them to f up.

Monetization isn't as bad as poe. Insane we don't see a yong yea video about GGG being greedy trash. With that said the game should not have any monetization ffs. I spent 107 bucks on this trash. If I have a cool skin it should be from killing something you greedy fs.

And no asmon / quin. We don't need to say positive things about everything. it is ABSOLUTELY possible for products to be completely downsides and negatives. stop being shills. you make money off games just for them existing. You can always find a positive cuz your bank account gets bigger no matter how ish it is. I don't have that luxury. I don't need to cope and see a silver lining when they try to shove ish down our throat and call it chocolate ice cream.

Get a refund. I did and I was like 65 or something. make up an excuse.

The game after the campaign gets repetitive quickly, you'll be doing the same activities over and over with very little reward. In other ARPGs you would expect to find better gear progressively, but after lvl70 or even lvl60 you won't find much to keep you going. I feel like the developers just didn't have enough time to put enough content in the endgame and are hoping to fill that out later with expansions and such. So maybe the game will get better, but for a $70 release I can't give this more than a 6/10. Expand

Played an unhealthy 127 hours in the first week + early access, and despite having hiccups with the game, I have to admit that it launched in a strong state. The campaign definitely felt great for an ARPG, and it introduces areas and characters at a good pace. It felt like a complete upgrade from the third game in every way, and in some ways definitely exceeds even D2. The campaign definitely felt great for an ARPG, and it introduces areas and characters at a good pace. It felt like a complete upgrade from the third game in every way, and in some ways definitely exceeds even D2. The only two things that I truly disliked about my experience was the balance and the traversal. Mounts don't feel great, and druid/necro had almost no movement abilities, making any traversal feel slightly annoying. Pretty much every class that needs to use basic abilities to build up their resource feels really bad, because basic abilities do literally nothing outside of utility. Some abilities were also just objectively awful, like Decompose, Rabies, some minions, and even Sorcerer conjurations. This will probably be changed within the next three months though.

But the big reason I'm giving this a 9 is the accessibility and comfort when on a controller. Holy **** Path of Exile and Last Epoch felt awful on controller compared to this. I had to learn mnk just to play them and have fun, but now I never want to go back to it. Movement feels crisp, the UI actually works, and skills having toggle settings made playing this feel easy on my hands. The screen reader, decent colourblind settings and the keybindings helped me enjoy this so much. Few games exist where I can play for hours without a headache and discomfort, and this is thankfully one of them. It also has local play which was absolutely perfect and I'm so happy to have it back.

I'm currently a lv76 Necromancer, and I'm still enjoying the game. It has issues, sure, but the ease of access, great visuals and sound effects, strong campaign and well executed open world make this a damn good package. The only thing I absolutely require Blizzard adding is a server selection with more options, playing at the bottom of Africa makes lag really ****ty.

I should not have to hear on 'twitter' that Barbarians are just outright NOT able to use aspects THAT ARE ON THEIR GEAR. We should not be running around for DAYS with turned off Aspects and have NO word about why we suck all of the sudden.
Druids should NOT have to fear getting a Barbarian Unique when it drops. if this is not a mechanic shared by all classes it should NOT exist for them, let alone takes DAYS to fix.
I should not 'think' pushing Nightmare Sigils would give greater rewards. They do not! You can kill chaff and still get the same loot in world IV. The hardcores should NOT have had to test this for us, nor should this EVER be an issue.
Classes should not be outright nerfed, without getting buffs to other specializations in unison. (Nerfing Whirl WInd but leaving Double Swing as a peice of trash.)
Lilith and Mephisto are interesting for sure, but our allies (and even our own characters) are forgettable if not outright incompetent. Ex: A character blaming another for losing an important item.. when the character placing blame SHOWED THE ITEM OFF and it was taken.

Its the same old thing with Blizzard. The game has some real promise, but as they always have recently the company likes to tell half truths, omit details, and likes to fluff up information with corpo speak that says NOTHING.

I will say, the sound team / art team / animation team nailed it! Though, they said it was old art that inspired them.. but.. I see a WHOLE lot of Warhammer inspiration here. Which they really enjoy ripping from without giving credit. (Looking at you Frostmourne, Gorhowl.) I wish they would rip off less crappy protagonists.

Fire the 'good guy' writers. Its been two games and only ONE good character. (Covetous Shen, the rest are ruined by Diablo 3.)
Fire whoever decided auto attacks (melee) should suck unless you are a Sorcerer. (Even still.)
Fire whoever thought Sorcerers don't get some Gandalf robes.. and fire them again for not letting them equip Gandalf swords. To much fancy silk, not enough homeless nerd.

This is my last purchase from Blizzard. The good they bring always comes with SO much incompetence. Not to mention, I hate those who speak like they are 'reasonable' when you can see the slime leaking down their flesh.

Beta is not an actual game. From levels 1-50, it might seem fresh and new, and you might enjoy it, especially if you're fond of the story. However, once you complete the main campaign, you'll realize that it lacks substance. The gameplay becomes slow and monotonous, and the end-game primarily revolves around level grinding, which wouldn't be an issue if the gameplay itself were enjoyable.Beta is not an actual game. I'm giving them a zero for the way they did the nerfs and the broken-incomplete game they sold. It's like they built an entire amusement park, but people are only using the seesaws. Now, the developers have to step in and temporarily take the seesaws out of service to encourage players to explore the rest of the park the way they intended.

I must acknowledge the marketing team at Bliz for successfully hyping the game and driving sales. If it were any other game with a different name and a less devoted fan base, I don't think it would have fared as well. As it stands, the game feels more like a beta version rather than a fully polished product.

I have tried to upload my review 5 times and it continues to get my error forbidden. Has Blizzard paid you to prevent users leaving honest reviews of the game Metacritic?

My negative review is mainly due to it being almost unplayable on Playstation. I have a PS5 and both PS5 and PS4 versions behave the exact same way. The game client will crash in city hubs or freeze when transitioning from open world to dungeons. These issues happen almost every play session multiple times. I have started opening alternative game clients (if I had PS5 version, launch PS4 to load game and start playing again until PS4 version freezes and forces me back to PS5.)

Besides that, Blizzard has begun nerfing decent leveling areas to time gate content on the casual player. I don't have all the time in the world to sit and play video games any more. That is why I stopped playing MMOs. With D3, I would complete a playthrough and start a new one, but Blizzard is trying so hard to prevent most people from even reaching level cap.

I wish I could rate the game hirer, because the visuals are nice and the game play is fun, but there is honestly only about 20 hours of unique game play currently in the game. I have played around 60 hours so far and I feel like I have already done every little mini game 100 times and there is not a lot of variety in dungeons. I have literally run two seperate dungeons back to back only to get the same boss both times. Every time a YouTuber comes out with a video titled, best xp farm, you can bet, the next day, Blizzard has nerfed it into the ground. It is already got me looking for another game, because i am tired of dealing with the crashes/freezing and tired of running the same content over and over for minimal gains.

The MMO aspect doesn't work out at all, it's so much more lonely than Diablo 3. Build diversity doesn't exist - if you play Sorceress pick Teleport, Ice Armor, Frost Nova and Flame Shield like everyone else. The fact that respeccing costs gold doesn't help. I really don't get why they suddenly decided to penalize people that want to experiment with skills, rather than just looking up builds online. After you finished the story you would hope that finally the real fun begins, but no, Blizzard bombards you with boring side quests (go there, fetch that, come back, go there, kill that, come back, wohoo you did it) and annoying side activities like "Find the 160 hidden Althars of Lilith".
Maybe the game gets better in 1-2 years, Diablo 3 also had a weak start and got enjoyable years later, but as of right now I can't recommend it.

Diablo 4 makes me feel embarrassed that I spent as much time playing D3 as I did. Diablo 4 in so many ways feels like the proper sequel to Diablo 2 that we've been waiting for.

The story, characters, music, ambiance, production value, cut scenes, easter eggs, thoughtfulness, and passion put into this game is unbelievable. Where Diablo 3 felt like a rough draft of releasing Diablo Immortal, Diablo 4 felt like a realization and refinement of the best of Blizzard from the past...at least what's left of the OG crew. All those aspects are 10/10. All the "ThErE aReNt MeMoRaBlE sOnGs LiKe D2" people...you've been listening to those songs for 20 years. Sure the sound levels may be off, but if you turn down the rest of the sounds to hear the music better, you realize that the sound artists and musicians did some amazing work and i will be listening to these tracks for the next 20 years.

Gameplay: People wanted more depth and choices to matter....got that. People wanted more difficulty = yep. People wanted depth and build diversity...so far so good. I'm absolutely loving the imbuement system. Different legendary aspects make or break a build and it's been awesome. Oh and before you say anything, when I played early access I had one mission when the game launched = Be a Giant Bear....and it's awesome! Realizing the fantasy, feeling impactful, having amazing synergies with skills and loot feels great.

Is the game perfectly balanced? No. Is there more work to be done? Absolutely. But with this being really the only good game Blizzard has going into the future since their whole Overwatch 2 debacle...the developers have a lot of evidence that making good choices for gamers makes investors lots of money. Especially with POE2 on the horizon and POE's amazing track record of content updates and profitability, the Acti-Bliz suits (should) see that want wonder why they can't do it better. I'm not worried about the current state of the game becuase there's a dedicated team behind the game and Blizzard needs this to work.

For the people whining about the microtransactions. I've now played a nearly a hundred hours in the game...havent opened the shop once. I have no idea what's even in the shop. People complaining about the existence of microtransactions in a game like this that are cosmetic only are complaining about Apple selling phone cases for the iphone. At no point have I been playing the game have I thought "wow they really slacked on the visuals with this game, I wanna buy some of the good cosmetics" because the loot, the environment the mount skins are super cool and getting a drop for a skin or salvaging a legendary for a transmog or imprinting a rare and watch the item transform to a totally cool new cosmetic is amazing!

Areas to work on: 1. Quality of Life features have been well documented by the community. People talk about the overlay map...I just need to be able to zoom out of the mini map and that'll be fine. My mouse side buttons should by default zoom in and out of the mini map to the same degree as the full map does and that'll solve the whole overlay problem. 2. Stashes, gem stash etc. people know this kinda stuff. Gems should have their own stash tab. I'd even consider buying one like POE sells if that means it doesn't take up valuable loot space. Also let us have unlimited number of stash tabs! Maybe after 5-6 the rest have to be purchased through the shop. 3. Levelling and power curve - Even as a druid, once I got to Tier 3 and found some good Legendary aspects that synergized i was stomping, but the early levels sucked. Frankly, I think you could keep the level scaling and the systems in place if you just started the paragon system at level 1 instead of level 50. 4. Please add timers and notifications for events that you want the community to care about. There should 100% always be a timer for the next world boss and next Helltide. I literally log in hoping for Helltide. 5. Better community/trading options. I understand the wariness due to literal decades of scams and duping by the Diablo community with fully open trade. However, right now I don't even know how to offer items to trade and being able to easily put items up for auction would be a nice feature.

Don't believe the rating bombers. I made an account just to write this review. I played the betas and I've been playing literally the worst character according to apparently everyone: this game is awesome. It has a lot to offer fanboys, casuals, hardcore folks, and even skeptics. There's clearly a lot of love and passion put into this game and I'm excited for the updates to come.

The second biggest nono is the scaling world and mobs, it kills the immersion of the game because you dont have the need to do side-quests or grind Mobs to get a higher level because all content is scaling with you, so you are perfectly fine at any point even if you just rush the main quest and do nothing besides that. Me personally i did a few side quests just for the sake of doin it and to try it out but like i said, i dont feel ANY need to do them. So now lets get to questing in generell. You dont even have to know how to read or play the game with sound because every single quest has an integrated NAVI-system to tell you on the exact point what is where to do, you just have to follow the BIG yellow arrow above your head and complete every quest with an ease. I did watch the cut scenes and i even liked them but all the ingame voice acting i skipped because i didnt want to lose time and yet again, why would i even listen, when all i have to do is follow my QUEST NAVI. why would you kill your own game like that? same for items and their weird stats. I'm not sure why exactly they dont stick with the item bases they had in their privious games but i do know that the new changes are horrible. a few examples here: rare items(yellow) can turn in legendary items (orange) at any time at the vendor so you theoretically have to check every rare item that drops to look up the thousands of useless modifiers to check if its an upgrade for you. comparing items is always a torture because of the bad UI and those thousand stats with nothing to say. weapon bases also got downgraded and simplified. i could go on on so much more but im tired of listing all the things that are bad. im disappointed but not surprised. this game just has to generate money, no soul went into it imo

Forcing you to use ineffective, cruddy, non-fun "basic" skills half of your playtime that do literally NOTHING except allow you to use skills that actually do something is such asinine design I am totally and utterly baffled that it ever made it into any game - let alone survive for two games in the most popular franchise of the entire genre. Why? What is the point?

I enjoyed parts of the story, I suppose, but most of what wasn't boring was just mediocre. Even then, I probably would have enjoyed some parts if I wasn't gated by the complete failure of the core gameplay to engage me even a tiny bit.

After playing 30 hours you pretty much experience all the game currently has to offer.

It took about 20 hours to do the campaign and renown, then you have helltide every other hour and 25 nightmare dungeons to run until you hit level 100 to then kill Lillith again.

I'm aware some day with paragon that will flip, but I hate the design decision.

I absolutely do not like having no proper crafting options.

I don't like the itemization, especially the vulnerable stat.

And the icing on the cake for me is the $70 price tag, the greedy early access program, and then selling skins in game for sometimes as much as $30.

The game is no only irritating in key ways, it's also just morally bankrupt from a financial point of view. I'm not going to say it's the worst game ever, but if 5 is middle of the road, this is a 4 for me.

Diablo 4 is a great foundation for what could become the best Diablo game yet. It slows the pace a bit back from the arcade-like feel of Diablo 3 and has, in my opinion, the most compelling story of the games I have played thus far. The leveling experience is great and I have thoroughly enjoyed the transition to mid game, even if balancing has some room to improve. The soundtrack and visuals are phenomenal, combat feels chunky and visceral and I do find that the game plays best with a group of at least 2 friends. That said it's absolutely playable solo, even if I think it's a better co-op experience. There is a wide variety of content to engage with early on, and I personally find the nightmare dungeons can provide a fine tuned challenge to your liking, if you don't want to go too crazy you can keep it sort of easy, which is a nice option. I also like that itemization has gone a little towards Diablo 2, with extra ranks to skills and less traditional stat bonuses, though I do feel like some of these bonuses need to have more value added to them and be explained more clearly.

Now for the negative, as of right now the legendary abilities can feel pretty shallow compared to Diablo 3, although early on it experienced a similar issue. Endgame content is kind of alot of min-maxing your gear, which is a staple of this style of game but if you don't like that, you still probably won't. And there are some quality of life improvements the game could use but are by no means so negative they warrant reviews of 1 or 2. Online connectivity has been mostly good, especially for a recent launch, but if you have limited time, it could be a spot of contention.

All in all, I give Diablo 4 an 8 out of 10, it's a good foundation and depending on how it develops it could easily be a 10/10 experience down the line, but this is blizzard we're talking about.

Leveling after 60 is just grinding the same dungeon for hundreds of times. And when you get your gear upgraded it becomes trash in few levels so there's no feeling of progress. The gameplay is so black and white; either you demolish everything or just get wrecked instantly. Or you play totally safe which means your level grinding takes forever.

It feels like it's intentionally tedious and boring so you'd buy some exp boost as microtransaction but there's none of those either. So you just get incredibly bored because there's no content in the game.

However, one small downside that I experienced is the tutorial, which I found to be lacking. Many mechanics were not thoroughly explained, and some of the advanced tooltips for items and abilities were not available at the beginning. You have to manually enable them in the settings. Additionally, I encountered a bug where if you lose connection for a second while in a loading screen, you get stuck in an infinite loading loop. To resolve this, you have to manually restart the game and load it again. I was hoping for error handling that would prompt me about the lost connection and return me to the main menu to try logging in again. Another thing worth mentioning is the need for a function that can automatically match solo players with others for dungeons or other activities. During my gameplay, I struggled to find someone to play with in a party. Overall, it is still a very good game, although there are some areas that could use further polish. I hope these issues will be addressed soon. Expand

-Talent tree and entire UI is ugly and convoluted. It's a quest to find your quests.
    - The monsters are the same the entire game. No fun / new mechanics to learn to dodge, no upgraded or variations, just the same guys over and over and over and over.
    - Completely unnecessary 'open world' with mounts - It's just boring filler Blizzard requires you to go through for no reason
    - Dumbest people - Not a single person has common sense. Every person who walks into a cellar, or goes down a ladder is inevitably caught by demons and needs to be saved. Sure, my main goes into those cellars, but is also capable of killing his way out.

If you know the franchise, then chances are you'll get through the main story line, start the next difficulty, and then quickly taper off. This game needs a FFXIV revamp - take it off the market, apologize to the player base, and develop a game that's good - otherwise it'll be a disappointment to the franchise, but at least removes the temptation to stay inside this summer.

It’s just different shades of % this or % that. There’s nothing that drops that is truly unique or makes you go wow.

    - Story Campaign: This not only has the best Diablo story, I would say it's one of the best video game stories I've played through in a long time. The whole thing is very morally grey, that makes you wonder where you stand. It's not just black and white like a lot of other fantasy type of games.
    - Combat: The combat is super fun, with a crazy amount of different builds and styles to try out. The way weapon and armor aspects can further change up the builds in significant ways always always keeps me interested and thinking of new possibilities.
    - The Future: The already plan to introduce new seasonal content ever three months to help keep the game fresh and interesting with the first one happening in late July.

    Cons:
    - Still some stabilities issues they need to work out. I get disconnected once or twice a day on my PS5.
    - Mounts need to be addressed for smoother riding. It's easy to get stuck running into a little hill for example.
-Boss variety needs to be upped. I'm fine with the dungeons being the way they are, but encountering the same boss in several different dungeons is disappointing. Making each one unique would also give each dungeon its own distinction. Heck, even changing the colors and names would be better than nothing.

Despite my cons I still give this a 10. Not because it's perfect but because it's exceed my expectations and has a promising future. Not to mention a less buggy experience than a lot of other games recently (Redfall for example.) A lot of the low reviews are saying things that are just factually not true. It's not pay to win, you can trade in the game, etc. All in all, a great to start to a great game.

The campaign has very few cool moments and except two bosses they are all not very memorable.
If you compare this to other games like lost ark or POE2 it does not stand a chance.
It saddens me that they took the safest route for diablo and did not improve the genre as blizzard used to when they release a new game.

And here it is not. Shocking for me is that it was even more fun in Diablo Immortal (which I didnt play for long but still)

They still couldn't fix the server issues, throughout the whole series.
And a sloppy open world, boring dungeon (monster density and etc),
    Uninteresting end content.

I think it could be the worst of the Diablo series.

Gore and Evil for ages 16+ ; puzzles/combat mechanic designed for 8-14..
Really sad about a game that started strong and...faded after 2 weeks playing part time...
Now: will I have to pay more for Seasons and some other bulls* pretexts? Def' not a AAA title; the game needed a good 3 more months of testing and dev to be up to some standard. Cinematics/Story : 9/10. Nothing you

Cinematics/Story : 9/10. Nothing you can't view off Youtube. And after ALL THAT hesitation to know WHO'S THE BAD GUY(S) and who to choose: you have no choice to make!!!! At least give us some god damn choice for 1-2 different fight/dialogue or cinematic... That's basic stuff Blizzard! RPG says it in the name!!
Voice acting: 10/10. Same as above for Youtube experience.
Fight mechanics: 5/10 Clunky, world bosses are boring AF. Helltides suck. Endless braindead farming.
Difficulty ramped? You get 1 shot by boring chaos/mechanics you can't see.
    Farming/Story/Grind after level 50: 2/10 Boring AF.
Multiplayer: 5/10 Crossplay? Cool! Decent-enough system to play with low levels...but no freaking LFG system or COOP goals. Even my guildies do all their stuff Solo. We're far from WoW 2002.
Bought a 15$ Mount to support a Streamer: The resolution on my 27" makes me see no difference than the brown one lol.... Ok...

Gearing up with ASPECTS is a PAIN . They nerfed the builds like 5 times in 10 days??? Now, my inventory is full of Legendary Aspects I can't freakin use as I know they'll be the next best build in 10 days... And I have no mats for new Aspects on new Gear my level, as Aspects are 5x more important, but you can't get mats! Endless, braindead farming needed...

The druid sucked levels 15-30. I was happy to see a super pickup at levels 30-35-50...Now i'm thinking of going back to Vermintide2 with the friends.

Scaling, Scaling, Scaling, overly large, dull open world, repetitive, uninspired combat, scaling, always online, corporate noses firmly ensconced in trough, and Oh yeah! Scaling.  Art and sound design are nice, I suppose. D4 is a game that needs to be taken behind the shed and shot between the eyes in the next few months. If not, then there is truly no justice in the world. Avoid

I bought the entire game solely because of the Barbarian and his WW build. You didn't stop with a nerf or two, you continued to nerf the Barbarian every other day. I already forgot how many nerfs the Barbarian has, but it's more than 5. Now they are nerfing everything in the game to make it even more of a hard grind, but people will get bored and it will be the same as what happened in Diablo 3. I'm solo player and I really have nowhere to play to raise approximately good exp. After level 70 it starts to require 5-6 (already 9 million) and one dungeon gives you a maximum of 750-790k exp, this means that you have to do two and a half hours the same thing over and over to level up, even though the dungeon takes 10 minutes. Even more so now PoE 2 is coming out and if Blizzard don't want their game to die in a few weeks they will have to consider their community, not only the people who roar non-stop about which class was very loud. There's no point in listing every single thing about the game, ABSOLUTELY everything good about the game was ruined - I'm not exaggerating at all!

I paid €90 for this game and feel totally ripped off.
You get rewards for games you don't even play, just one grumpy emoji/reaction and one mythic battlepass. Even if you try to comfort yourself with the fact that the game is nice, you can't be so blind and deluded, you buy a certain product and end up getting something completely different. It's like buying a brand new Apple Phone and getting a microwave for the same price but with the Apple logo.
Blizzard once again proved that they are not Blizzard North and never will be. This game will be the second and last thing I buy from them.

Overall, my experience with the game has been very enjoyable. The combat feels good, the graphics are great, and the campaign was incredible. I think the game is great for semi-casual players, but may fall off for hardcore players. We will see what seasons do for the game.

    Good:
    - I found the build diversity pretty good. I play a twisting blades rogue, and even just looking at build guides, it is great to so many different ways this build can be played, from a trap-based build, to an imbuement-based build, or something in between. Moreover, other builds are pretty good, even if not meta picks, such as penetrating shot and flurry.

    - Enjoy the open world nature of Diablo IV, and the fact that the overworld remains relevant all the way to level 100.

    - I enjoy the gearing process. I know some people complain about it being too simplistic, and maybe it is compared to other ARPGs, but I find think there are meaningful choices to be made with the gear. Finding upgrades is an enjoyable process.

    - I enjoy scaling, but I understand why others do not. I play with my brother who has a lot less time to play than me, and it's nice that we can still play together.

    - The combat is just fun. I enjoy the risk-reward of the rogue. Running into a large pack is dangerous, but if I can survive a few seconds, then I basically become invincible and do insane damage.

    - I don't think the monetization of the game is a problem. The shop is entirely cosmetics, so I could care less how much they charge. The early-access for $20 wasn't fun, but if it's an issue, just don't pay for it...

    Bad:
    - The inventory is quite bad. There are only 4 stash tabs, and only 33 slots in your inventory. Gems need their own bag, as well as nightmare sigils. I'm planning to play an alt, and I might make it on a separate account so that I don't have to share the stash with another character, as the stash size is frustratingly small. There also need to be a search function for the stash.

    - Respeccing is borderline unbearable. At higher level, the cost becomes insane, with it being around 10M gold at level 100. Even ignoring the gold cost, changing the paragon board is very tedious, since we have to unclick every paragon point that you need to remove to change it. This is outrageous to me. They should add the ability to modify the board, and then hit accept when you're done with changing it, like in WoW dragonflight. Also, if there are paragon points beyond the point you are trying to remove, there should be an option to auto unlearn all skills beyond that point.

    - The endgame feels very grindy, and repetitive. I am hopeful that this will be addressed in the seasonal content, we shall see.

Diablo 4 is overall a great game. Amazing visuals, sound, story and gameplay. R.I.P Diablo. It's all about the money now. And don't forget the beta was a SCAM that overpowered the player and hid the true nature of this game which is boring, repetitive, and begs for your time which will eventually lead to cash payments in the cash shop or battlepass. And that's all this game is about.

All 5 classes are pretty useable in end game.
My clan has variety of classes most being lvl 80+ pushing endgame nightmares 40+ and everyone seems to be doing ok. You might have to respec your class for endgame , so the game does require some balancing but for now its not an issue.

I doubt people review bombing the game put a single hour into the game.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
