This is not how anybody should treat a AAA title. Shame on Blizzard, lost a customer for life.

It's like they learned nothing from D3.The end game is non existent, the classes are boring.Skill trees are filled with useless abilities .This is the slowest action game you will ever play or the loot hunter game with the lamiest loot ever ,your pick !

Lots of people play diablo to farm better gear at the end but sadly all the best gear can be obtained by level 70 and there is no point in playing after that. Recent changes ruined any meaningful progress, loot sucks, builds nerfed, dungeon crawl without enemies, no endgame, artificial difficulty everywhere, only “cosmetics” dangled as loot and uniques that are awful and drop every 500k hours of playtime a.k.a spend your time playing any other game you enjoy.

The game is not finished. But players like me have paid for a full game. At this moment we have put a lot of hours in and the things that are actually fun are being nerfed. There are certain mechanics that are used so you lose time and new ones being implemented. I feel like an unpaid betatester. If I could I would have asked my money back.

The campaign is a weak adventure upheld by lore and aspirations created by a team more than 20 years ago. They had everything handed to them on a plate, instead, we got a fairy tale campaign without the gritty, destructive aspects of the true prime evils. We got an obvious expansion arc in the form of Mephisto the puppy, and Lilith, who shone in the cinematics but failed in every other aspect.

D2 LOD exploded a man with tentacles for merely challenging Baal, now, our hero doesn't even feel phased in the presence of the prime evil effigies.

Funnily enough, the campaign was the strong point of Diablo IV. The loot system is not rewarding, there is no identity to the loot system, stat systems are confusing and character development is pinned against bloated and unfinished paragon systems.

I find it even more astonishing that Vicarious Visions, a company known for its remasters had to come to the rescue and prop up the already gouged development team. I suspect that they were handed a dead carcass of a D4 MMO and then tasked with salving it into a modern ARPG.

35 hours is all I managed, I had to force myself to reach level 70 on my necromancer, desperately using every ounce of nostalgia to force-feed this junk into my fingertips.

No wonder Blizzard, sorry, ACTIVISION decided to axe TCP/IP support for D2R. It's evident that D4 wouldn't stand a chance against a modded D2R fan base.

The cost of rebuilding your character to try new things is only possible if you, once again play 10+hours a day and even then is just ridiculous. They had 3 previous games to build off of but decided they wanted to shoot for a more AARPG/MMO style game but then start taking out multiplayer aspects because they decided a small percent of players are leveling too fast and shining a spotlight on the fact they biffed the endgame? So the decision was to make leveling even worse for others so they dont have a chance to get there? The combat feels good and the leveling doesn’t feel too slow. The classes feel different enough. One thing Blizzard still seems to have with the right team and amount of time, IS good game feel. The sounds and the visuals are satisfying and the builds don’t feel one dimensional as Diablo 3 did and you actually can have versatile subtypes within each class like how a druid can build to focus on being a werebear tank, a wind/lightning mage, an animal whisperer, or a combination of it all. Similar with other classes too how sorcerers can have different elemental specializations and mix and match with beautiful and bright effects and punchy sounds.

The story seems to be one of those you either love it or you hate it.

It’s also a better sequel to Diablo 3 than Overwatch 2 was to Overwatch 1(which blizzard released as basically the same game lol).

Diablo IV does feel different enough and strikes a good combination of simple and complex.

And it’s an ARPG. You play it for the fun explosions and effects and getting better and better loot which this satisfies pretty well.

Sadly, as of launch, there isn’t MUCH to do in the endgame when you hit the later/max levels, but they have plans for seasons and expansions to add more. The leveling process and the classes themselves are fun though and you’ll get a ton of enjoyment out of it.

Edit: As of the Season 1 patch I can’t in good conscience recommend this game anymore. Anything that was bad is doubled down and anything that was remotely fun is nerfed. Leveling was slowed down, classes already gutted, itemization not addressed, endgame activities heavily nerfed.

Maybe I’ll edit this if they fix it but maybe I won’t bother like they don’t seem to bother with this game.

First off, build diversity, itemization, dungeon / boss diversity, open world travel, terrible class and build balancing, lack of QOL things (only 4 stashes), numerous game-breaking bugs are just a few things to note about the game. I wasn't particularly impressed with the music given the iconic music we got from Diablo 2.
On a positive note, the game does have some great things going for it in it's story, art, voice acting lore, and general feel of gameplay.

My advice for those on the fence about purchasing the game: If you are okay with dropping 70 dollars to mostly enjoy playing through the campaign before you move on to the next game then D4 might be for you. For everyone looking for any semblance of endgame enjoyment and replayability my advice would be to look at other titles in the genre coming soon such as Baldurs gate 3 or Path of Exile 2. D4 has potential but it will likely take at least a year of further development before it gets the problems mentioned here addressed.

The game is rather repetitive and lacks depth. It was sold as a $70 experience, plus there is a recurring cost with seasons. I think the game is hardly worth the cost. The only place where the game excels is in the graphics department, but then I'd rather spend $80 on subscribing to a streaming service or buying a couple of 4k blurays. The Dev team is joke, worst decisions, what they can do is nerf, some classes are just OP but they don't have idea how to balance, and they decided to nerf everything. They cannot present much content, but they try very hard to keep us online & grinding. Just like Diablo 3, we should come back

Prior to season 1 (June - July 2023) I spent 100+ hours playing. Exploring the world and the five difference classes (Druid, Sorcerer, Barbarian, Necromancer, Rogue).

Although each class has a huge variety of possible builds, I was a little disappointed that only a few of those builds were actually viable for leveling and end game content (lvl 60+) but mostly enjoyed the game. I chose popular and effective meta build for each class and hoped that Blizzard would iteratively improve on the other skills to increase the effectiveness of other builds. For example, I built an ice shard sorcerer but would have preferred a lightning build.

With patch 1.1 rolling out just prior to Season 1, many in the gaming community expected Blizzard to make those class improvements, especially to the sorcerer class. Sadly, they chose to nerf the few builds that were effective, rather than improve those that weren't. Now the game is nearly unplayable after level 60 and any enjoyment I received from the game has turned into pure frustration.

The Blizzard team is completely disconnected from their own game, their player base, and have no interest in building a game that people enjoy playing. They seem to care more about forcing players to grind levels, pray for decent loot drops, and experience hours of frustration rather than enjoyment.

The community aspect is incredibly un-engaging, and at no point do I feel like I'm part of a teeming world with other real people trying to excel at the game. I consistently wonder why I'm playing Diablo 4 when I'm playing Diablo 4.

I'm not really sure what the fix is here- maybe adding another tab for ability slots- it could add life and variety into the game, or diversifying the bosses and creating different types of missions, or community engagement like raid-style, team-requiring quests.

As it stands, I spent $100 and had fun for a couple of days. Not the worst use of $100 in my life, but surely not the best.

The devs had great open world games such as Guild Wars 2 to study for their open world, yet delivered the most flaccid gaming open world experience I've ever been a part of. The game may as well have just been a single player game. The ARPG element is ruined as your 'chase' items are basically just praying for an item to drop with 3 of 4 good mods then a gold sink trying to get your 4th mod from the enchanter where the good mods are weighted to not appear.
There are several better and cheaper games out there in the same genre and I would recommend someone who is on the fence to stay away.

A world of versatility and power was suddenly replaced with stifling constraints. The once robust Necromancers, Barbarians, Rogues, Sorceresses, and Druids faced crippling nerfs that stripped them of their former glory.

No relief came from the enchantment front either. The mysterious and potent art stayed as costly as ever, draining resources without a hint of mercy. The fiery Helltides, once swift as the wind, now languished at a snail's pace, mocking the determined players with their sluggish currents.

The art of Boosting, once a glorious race to the top, was crushed under the weight of patch 1.1, now resembling an uphill battle in waist-deep snow. The once diverse gameplay was corralled into Nightmare dungeons, where other challenges were reduced to mere whispers in the wind.

Experience bonuses that were once the spoils of defeating mighty adversaries became mere crumbs, a meager 10% of their former glory. The sensation of triumphant victory against higher-level beasts was replaced with a hollow echo of what once was.

The essence of combat, the critical strikes and vulnerability damage, faced the wrath of the patch as well. Slashed by 17% and 40% respectively, they further dimmed the once blinding brilliance of the game's weapons.

Diablo 4 was not a sprint; it was a marathon. But with the arrival of Patch 1.1, the marathon had turned into an endless crawl through a desert of nerfs, each oasis of fun seemingly further away than the last.

But there was no all-powerful Avatar, no master of all classes to rise and restore balance. Instead, a call to arms echoed amongst the players: It's time to speak up, to say 'enough is enough.' It wasn't about persevering silently or accepting the nerfed world; it was about making their voices heard, about standing up for the game they loved. Because when it comes to the games we play, the hope is not just something we give ourselves. It's something we demand from those who hold the reins. This is the true essence of player pow

They've also taken all the end game content and forcing your hand in where you can essentially play so unless your doing nightmare dungeons or helltides (which mind you helltides only happen every few hours and the best chest to open costs more now) you'll be basically wasting your time to do anything else....why should a game punish you for wanting to play other parts of the game? Further more, it is clear they shipped an incomplete beta version looking at the numerous technical and gameplay issues and missing features that the devs say will come in a few months.

There's a persistent memory leak issue present since launch affecting even top end rigs that causes stutters that gets progressively worse as you play.

Content wise, mid and end-game is completely sparse. To artificially prolong the game's playability, they are intending to drip feed content slowly. In the mean time, to fix the lack of content, they are nerfing everything to slow down progress.

I played to end game (lvl 90) on hardcore from early access through the "preseason". Honestly might as well call it a beta test that you pay to play in.

Before the game released, blizzard said that scrolls of escape was the compromise for not allowing logout macros and that scrolls of escape will be automatically used in the event of a disconnect. On game release this was not the case and people were dying left and right to game crashes, power outages, internet disconnects, bugs, and even CASH SHOP UPDATES. Then the devs come out and say that scrolls of escape weren't working as intended and should be teleporting players out on game crash or disconnect and that it will be fixed...in Season 2. Really blizzard? This is literally a few lines of code to fix this but you have to wait 4-6 months before you can fix such a game breaking issue?

Then they decided that altar of liliths and map completion would become account wide. Great decision imo. Only for some reason we have to log onto the character that completed the altars and finished the map in order to "populate" the rest of the account? Again, there are two achievements associated with each respective feat. You couldn't write a few lines of code to do that automatically? On top of that, since you have to LOG INTO THE CHARACTER in order for it to populate to your account like we're playing some DOS game in 1992, people on hardcore that have characters that completed all the altars and map only to die to a CASH SHOP UPDATE....will now have to redo both even though they have both achievements unlocked on their account..

Are you sure you're a AAA company because you sure don't act like it. 0/10

I come here to express my anger to those Blizzard Rted developers who think they knew how to make a game. No, they love to torture their customers! After all the missing and torturing game mechanics like the limited stashes, boring end-game, very limited and lacking social functions, all the broken or underpowered skill designs, then the silenced solution for the Shaklegate crisis, and nowI come here to express my anger to those Blizzard Rted developers who think they knew how to make a game. This game and its developers are the most disrespectful bunch in the gaming industry.
This is my last straw for Blizzard, THE BLIZZARD IS DEAD!

As if the lack of any end game wanst bad enough, not they're activly trying to ruin the leveling aspect of the game as well.

Extremely boring tedious and not fun mechanics in the end game. Unexplainably bad design decisions. No loot to chase in the end game… ya know, the whole point of an arpg?

When the game developer tells you not to expect the "finished" product on release, you know the game is finished before its even released.

The user interface is terrible, inventory management is terrible, quality of life is terrible, end-game is terrible, and the list goes on and on. Just visit their official forums and see how many negative posts there are. They said they will

They said they will listen to feedback from players and implement them. Separate inventory space for gems? Season 2. Leaderboard? Season 3. Do they really need at least half a year to implement such minor changes?

I would recommend you to purchase the game few years down the road when it is on christmas sale for 10 bucks. That way you get to save and play the game when it is more "complete".

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
