Absolute joke from Blizzard yet again after the latest patch, they show that they don't want you to have fun, they want you to grind endlessly(and boringly). The problem is if the grind isnt fun or rewarding in any way there is no point. Score will stay low until blizzard puts the fun back into the game

Was fun for the first bit, but the game gets dreadfully boring and repetitive quickly. There is ZERO end game and nothing to grind for. Waste of money honestly.

Game was pretty fun at release. Obvisouly bugs and issues but for the most part it scratched the itch.

After reading the new patch notes its very clear that the devs do not play their own game. They would rather slow the game down then add new content to justify their $70 game.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING BLIZZARD UNTIL THEY FIRE THE WHOLE FREAKING DEPARTMENT.

Helltides might be more of a “risk gamble” now but they’re the type of gamble where you go wait in line at the DMV for 3 hours and hope they’re not closed by the time you get to the front of the line except they always are. Plenty full up on that feeling in real life, thanks, don’t need a game to do it for me. Revert the changes immediately, because the game is unplayably not fun since yesterday. Expand

It's a LOOT hunter with boring loot.

Guess what? There won’t be many. There is a lot to like about the game but it’s far from perfect. I’m not a fan of level scaling, I level up but inevitably feel weaker for awhile. It’s suppose to be a grind but in my opinion is over the top. The endgame is not compelling, but I liked the campaign ok.

You know what they say about hindsight, but I would have waited for this game to be 50% off. Lastly the micro transactions this reduced my score by at least 2. I know people say they are only cosmetic etc. Yet this is a full priced game, the really “cool” skins should be the result of gameplay not $20. If Fortnite wants to sell skins, fine it’s free to play. Selling skins in full price games only incentives developers to hold back content to sell at a premium. We shouldn’t stand for that it’s a slippery slope.

in addition to fixing nothing, they also went ahead and reduced player damage by about 50% across the board, along with reduction in player defense by also about 50%

so now in a half baked unfinished game, you also do very little damage, along with dying much more quickly, making the experience even slower, more sluggish and grindy

i cannot believe this is how a billion dollar company treats their games and players, if there was a score lower than 0, i would give it

its unreal how 1 patch completely destroyed all good will and any hype for the new season, everyone in general were still excited at the prospect of the new season, especially because, for many it would be their first arpg season, but now most of the sentiment around this game is to uninstall and never buy any games from this company in the future

They took all the good features from the older games and trashed them out to implement the bad ones. I have had more fun with some and less with others, but overall each has been enjoyable and replayable products. Most recently I have been heavily invested in their diablo franchise, and while Diablo 3 had a bit of a rough rollout (the game itself was good, the servers, and the always on nature of the game requiring them, made them frustrating at moments. A few missteps were made attempting to introduce real money into the auction house but after it was carved out, the game was once again, fun to play. It was clearly designed to appeal to the end user, whether they were seasoned grinders, or casual players looking for some fun couch co-op. So, when Diablo IV was hinted at a few years back as a work in progress, I was very excited. However, the influence of Activision loomed large in their decision to launch a pay to win time suck of product a'la Diablo Immortal in a proper game's place. It was and still is a garbage product intended only to such the finances and time out of desperately addicted fools for the sake of their bottom line. While dismayed, i remained hopeful for what was promised to be a legitimate successor to the Diablo franchise, a game hinted at, but always just around the corner. Finally in , we were gifted a playable demo of the fabled unicorn. The early access and public betal playthrough to level 25 and around in ACT I of the final game were amazing. The play was fun, the progression and kill advancement felt worthwhile and I was hooked. I went ahead and paid them for the ultimate edition for myself, and picked up 3 more copies for my wife and kids so that we could play together in the full game.

Well, now that the final product has been available for a few weeks, i realize why the betas were limited as much as they were. While the storyline progresses a bit further, and the overall lore is good, the game grinds to a haul soon afterward. Even before the end of hte campaign the game begins to feel repetitive and mindless, the sidequests have good information, but as you work to complete those, you end up leveling your character, without much benefit as far as loot to increase your power output - however, due to the same keep them grinding logic that went into diablo immortal, the monsters have no such issues increasing in strength commensurate to your newly aquire level, and your ability to progress greatly diminishes. This is inevitable slowdown is ONLY mitigated by following extremely precise calculated build paths that are in no way intuitive just looking at the game layout, items or states visible to the player. You pretty much need either a build guide you follow (not playing a game) or a massive pivot table/spreadsheet to calculate on a case by case basis, if any one of the hundreds of items you do procure is going to benefit or harm your ability to even damage the next identical, but ever stronger, bad guy.

In my case, i quit well before reaching level 100 on my first character - the game is only designed to be completeable if you sink your entire waking day into it, over and over, with non-stimulating chores such as, parsing items, killing the same spawned mobs, and using a very poorly explained mechanics to open rifts, sorry, i mean nightmare dungeons. But, even then, just this week, Blizzard decided that the mindless, unsatisfying play experience was just TOO FAST, as you only need to play 16 hours a day 5 days a week for a month to beat it, so, they nerfed the crap out of all the heros, buffed the monsters and reduced the experience gained from them. I would have rated the game a solid 5, and wouldn't recommend it. But now It's an exploitative 2 at best, and i actually feel conned out of $310 for my 4 game copies. This is corporate greed and a complete disregard for their player's lives, money and free time.

The dungeons that I was having a kind of dificult time doing are near impossible now with how squishy my character is. I do not plan on playing until season 1 and I am not sure if I will play depending on the state of the game. Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to universally nerf every class across the board? Were the devs looking to make the game less fun, less immersive? If so, congratulations, Blizzard, you've nailed it.

All the hard-earned progress we had made, all the hours we've put into crafting and honing our characters, feel pointless now. The Necromancer, my personal favorite, feels more like a Lackluster-mancer, its potency reduced to a husk of what it once was. Barbarians feel less like fearsome warriors and more like a disgruntled farmer with a rusty spade.

And don't even get me started on the Sorceresses. What was once a thrilling tactical play of abilities and positioning now feels like a dull slog, as if the game is actively punishing you for daring to have an original strategy. It's an appalling move, stripping the fun and nuance out of gameplay.

The great promise of Diablo 4 was the depth of class customization and the sense of truly owning your character's development. But with the 1.1 patch, it seems like Blizzard has abandoned that vision entirely. This is not balancing; this is bulldozing over all the characteristics that made each class unique and rewarding to play.

Blizzard, you've broken the cardinal rule of game design: Don't take away the fun. This nerf-heavy 1.1 patch feels like a betrayal, and I can assure you, the player base is not taking this lightly. I've been a loyal player since Diablo II, but this update has me seriously considering if it's time to pack up my gear and head for greener - and more rewarding - gaming pastures.

It is with a heavy heart that I must write this review of Diablo 4, a highly anticipated installment in the beloved franchise. While the Diablo series has long been revered for its immersive gameplay and thrilling class dynamics, it seems that the developers have taken an inexplicable turn in Diablo 4, resulting in a disappointing game that feels unnecessarily tedious and lackluster.

One of the most glaring issues in Diablo 4 is the developers' consistent nerfing of classes, which directly impacts the overall enjoyment of the game. What was once a game that boasted diverse and powerful characters now feels like a struggle to make any meaningful progress. It is bewildering why the developers have chosen to strip away the very essence of what made each class engaging and unique, stifling the joy that came from becoming an unstoppable force of destruction.

Furthermore, the gameplay mechanics in Diablo 4 feel like an outright chore, rather than an engaging and exciting adventure. The repetitive nature of the quests and lack of variation significantly hinder the player's ability to immerse themselves fully in the game world. Instead of presenting thoughtful and challenging quests, Diablo 4 bombards players with dull and uninspiring tasks, draining the enjoyment from what should have been an exciting gaming experience.

In addition to the nerfing of classes and repetitive gameplay, it is disheartening to see Diablo 4 lack the depth and complexity that once made the franchise so captivating. The intricate skill systems and character progression, which were once hallmarks of the series, have been watered down to a frustratingly simplistic level. This reduction in complexity not only limits player agency but also removes the sense of accomplishment that came from mastering intricate class synergies and strategies.

It is deeply disappointing to witness a game that was once celebrated for its vibrant and dynamic gameplay transform into a mundane and lackluster version of its former self. Rather than building on the legacy of the franchise, Diablo 4 feels like a step backward, as the developers seem to have lost sight of what made the series so beloved in the first place.

In conclusion, Diablo 4's unfortunate devolution into mediocrity stems from its baffling decisions to nerf classes and consistently deliver monotonous gameplay experiences. The developers' choices have resulted in a game that lacks the depth, complexity, and exhilaration that was once the series' trademark. Only time will tell if the developers will take note of the community's feedback and reignite the spark that once made the Diablo franchise shine.

Ultimately, I hope the developers reconsider their approach and strive to deliver a game worthy of the Diablo legacy in future installments. Until then, it is a challenging recommendation to invest one's time and energy into Diablo 4, given the frustrations and disappointments it presents.

I agree with them in regards to what issues should have been taken care of. ANYTHING that was a positive change to the core gameplay loop, enchanting, economy, or resistances would have been welcome. Instead we are forced to grind harder to accomplish less. The developers in charge at Blizzard do not value your time or your money. Unfinished game. Blizzard decided to nerf everything because players were completing the campaign and material too quickly. But after that it just falls flat. The three activities for "endgame" - whispers, Helltides and NM dungeons are extremely repetitive. And only one, NM dungeons was worthwhile - for leveling, "loot" and glyphs.

The loot itself is subpar and you can get equipment that is completely useless on the highest difficulty of the game (World Tier 3 equipment on Tier 4). The ability to reroll or tweak your gear is hampered by extremely high costs that increase per re-roll. Which forces you to go broke or go beat your head against the wall for a new drop or resources.

Early adopters of the game got to have fun before patches and mostly nerfs entered. I started playing end of June 2023. The game was pretty fun and i was ignorant to the previous nerfs. I didn't bother looking at the changes because the game itself felt fun. Slow and meticulous - but fun.

For reference, I have a level 90 sorcerer. And was stoked to be working my way up to higher nightmare dungeon tiers. I just got into the 40s and really digging the pace of grinding with teleport chest piece.

And then enter the July 18th patch that made the game feel so bad. In the same day, your ability to do difficult activities was heavily diminished. The power fantasy, revoked for many high end builds. And a major nerf to sorcerers - what the community and content creators all agree to be the weakest class. Call me bitter, but to nerf the class and give it useless uniques was a double dipping of punishment.

Which brings me to creating new builds. After some research, i learned that saving builds was once a one click feature in Diablo 3. Even Destiny 2 managed somehow to piece it together in game (after years of community resources external to the game pulled it off).

Get your candy and caffeine ready, as you sink time into manually undoing every node on your paragon boards. And slowly reinvent you skill tree chain. Because the July 18 2023 nerfs will have you doing just that.

If player retention is the goal, shouldn't it be fun? I was debating playing season 1 - but I just don't think its worth the time. Starting from step one is slow enough, but to kill the pace by nerfing the player into the ground - its just too much.

Towns are generic and enemy types are very limited. Open world is done terribly and you have absolutely no initiative to interact with other people. Characters phase in and out at seemingly random and monsters appear out of thin air. The movement when mounted feels weird and unresponsive. Itemization is on par with D3 itemization at launch.

On the plus side, graphics are top notch, combat feels good and the community figured out some very clever and fun builds. The feeling of accomplishment after you get a working powerful endgame build is still as great as always.

I had some hope that D4 could become a decent game with enough time and love from the developers, but the recent 1.1 patch shows that they are completely out of touch, arrogant and I doubt many even play their game. They are making nonsensical changes just to make progression slower. The patch made many builds either completely non functional or much slower, while addressing none of the bugs and concerns of the community. This is the only patch of a game, that actually made me angry and makes me consider quitting the game. I am sitting out season 1 for sure.

Based on the positives and potential I would have rated the game 7/10, but after the recent patch I can't give it more than 4/10. Would be fine if it was 20 bucks game.

I'd like to pretend I'm baffled but I'm sure their logic is something like "this will increase player time in game because they are progressing slower" and as we all know in the eyes of a souless corporate husk of a company, that's the only metric they give a **** about. More time in game means more time in proximity to their in-game store. Whether or not people enjoy themselves is irrelevant.

God, I **** hate modern gaming.

I am a huge fan of the Diablo series, and have every game and expansion from Diablo I-IV. This latest installment looks great. There devs don't care about creating a fun game or improving quality of life in the game. They seem to care about making a slow, slogging loot chasing mess. At least it doesn't have most of the pay to play that you see in Diablo Immortal, so I guess that's one good thing. Unless they can somehow turn this steaming pile around, buy Diablo III on sale. It's endgame is fun. Expand

The newest patch is really poor. They've nerfed all the most fun stuff while making it take so much longer to access some of the best parts of the game. Helltides used to be a fun way of getting valuable gear, but now it's an absolute slog and will have you dying due to the most recent nerfs across the board. Pretty awful way to improve the user experience. Take it back!

Devs can’t make even the simplest QoL or balance changes to make the game enjoyable.

Originally was fun. With changes and also not fixing glaring issues with gameplay and quality of life issues, the game has become unplayable and not fun in the slightest. You would imagine that a company as experienced as Blizzard could create a game worth playing. Diablo 4 is not that game.

Absolute **** moves by the devs right before season 1. Massive nerfs. Mega grind. Lowered rewards. New gems and poor affixes do not make up for horrifically **** gameplay nerfs. Out.ofmtocuh devs too chicken **** to kick Bobby Kotick in his smug **** face. Coward ****

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
