The thing is, diablo 4 was fun at first, until the dev team decided to slowly wreck everything up with either their ego or just pure stupidity. Diablo is fun due to its versatility on builds and items crafting/ hunting and also its level grind was bearable. Some how they manage to burry the game slowly with each patch, what a joke. What's need to be fix were constantly ignored while implementing nerfs on unneeded segments is pure JOKE, not sure the dev team trying to clown us or themselves at this point. Builds were suppose to be working from every classes are not working correctly ( they dont fix **** on every goddamn patch they impose, all they do is nerfing something else ) , zero quality of life ( even after tons of recommendation from users/ actual players have suggested ) they seems to be blind on this one, and finally it came to its glorious 1.1 patch, downright the most **** if not one of the patch in arpg history in recent years. You strip the fun out of the game you bunch of stubborn mules, why make a patch focusing to slow the entire game down? Nerf on exp gain, damage, affixes, armor, damage reduction and etc, like seriously? We were asking for endgame content, slowing the game down wasnt a content ffs, not at all. You guys dont like seeing people having fun is that it? or is it just a scheme to make the progress of season one direly slow so it would force people to do ingame purchase to level up the seasonal pass level? The list goes on but if you think nerfing the game on every patch is the way to keep the game going, well good luck on that, effing mules. Expand

    As someone who has both a well geared WW or HOtA lvl100 Barb and Summoner or Boner lvl100 Necro I have had the experience of playing both;

    Ranged and Melee,
    AoE and Single Target Dmg,
    High Burst and Consistent Dmg,
    Minions and No Minions builds,
CC immune or Chain CC'd to death,
    Fast and Slow,
    Nerfed and insanely OP,

classes simultaneously and the sad truth is I'm not even this disappointed due to the terrible state of balance or the lack of endgame content, the endless grinding of same dungeons, the horrible lack of any QOL that we have been asking for since day 1 in this game, it's knowing they did this not for the health of the game but to kill the eternal realm characters so everyone would be forced to play seasons and buy their overpriced battlepass and farm their new seasonal gems to get back the power they once had before patch 1.1 was released.

    Oh yes and I have receipts for my "conspiracy theory" as a reference here is the article stating and I quote;

"All I know is that quest designer Madeleine James promised me some wild Diablo 4 Sorcerer builds in Season 1, and I can’t wait to see them. They rely on the new Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts, which will hopefully make up for a few of the latest patch’s rougher nerfs; my Sorceress needs a boost, okay?"

    Source: https://www.pcgamesn.com/diablo-4/limit-builds

Basically every 3 moths we'll release you a new gimmick in a season to make you feel powerful again. But you better only play seasons because if you don't guess what? back to feeling like an absolute slog to level or grind gear in the eternal realm for you. This is just 1/100 of the problems in this game and 5000 char is not enough to really say what needs to be said in this game.

Everywhere you turn in this game you are faced with an obtrusive obstacle, sometimes literal, that seeks to do nothing other than slow you down and prevent you from getting anywhere or having any fun. If you somehow find a way to play the game at a high level or a fast pace, Blizzard will stop you dead in your tracks and weaken your character with quite possibly the most reviled patching in gaming history. With constant back-tracking in dungeons, horses that forget how to gallop, literal roadblocks, LoL-inspired recall times, and just plain old damage stat reductions, Blizzard has proven nothing since launch other than that they do not understand the ARPG genre or what its fans are seeking. Or worse yet, they do know, but they don't care, because all that matters to a giant, evil corporation is profit (don't believe me? Diablo Immortal).
If you were fortunate or intelligent enough to not entrust your money to this God-forsaken corporation to play this game, do yourself a favor and keep your credit card in your wallet until D4's absolutely dented team of developers is fired and replaced by people who actually play the game and understand the genre (and can do basic math and not release half-baked and boring itemization systems).

There are dozens of better games being released this year which respect your time. This game does not.

The devs and community managers promise attention to and fixes for numerous issues, but then the patches exacerbate the issues instead of solving them. The focus seems to be on forcing players to spend as much time in the game as possible, not on making the game fun.

Rated a 1 for the campaign, which is pretty decent. But that goes quick, and the midgame/endgame is abysmal, with seemingly no improvements on the horizon.

The way Blizzard treats players reminds me of an abusive spouse. They’ll shower you with small “gifts”, then knock you around a little bit to put you in your place, then they’ll say sorry and act like they’ve changed, only to hit you

Game started off lack luster, but fun. Then the first page for the first season came out and they went backwards in every direction possible, even increasing the time it takes to go back to town after finishing a dungeon by two seconds. This game went from being potentially one of the best ARPG games to a steaming pile of dog excrement in a single patch.

The thing here is that they want you to be in an infinite loop farming xp and mediocre items from monsters and getting next to nothing as a reward. Weakened all classes to try to “balance” things and try to make it challenging but it actually became an unbearable game. This game is currently completely different from what they released a month ago. Spend your time doing something rewarding and fun, something you really feel motivated to do. all the devs of this game do is kill your motivation.

Everything you try to do in the game to improve your gameplay, be it a dps focused build or an efficient farm it is reason to nerf. forget being happy in this game my friend.

It's absolutely abysmal that they took absolutely no pointers from the history of Diablo 3. They had an absolutely solid formula they could've went with, and they chose not to. Did it need to be Diablo 3: Enhanced Edition? No. But there's so many bad changes and takes that its baffling. Everything is slow. Everything is a slog. Anything fun is taken away and you're told you shouldn't expect anything else (looking at you, patch 1.1).

One would think a game that has a cosmetic shop would put more effort in. It should translate, right? Make people love your game so they're willing to spend more money. No, they took the opposite approach. Make people take longer to play the game, make things more tedious. That should make them more likely to purchase, right? Wrong. People are quitting, and people are doing this.

You had a great platform to build on, and 1.1.0 is a regression beyond the issues present at launch.

I will never again pre-purchase anything from Blizzard knowing there are season/dlc mechanics that they will be "balancing". This is fundamentally a PvE game, with PvP and grouping mechanisms being an afterthought, and you're trying to balance this around competitive gameplay when there simply is none and that is not the point - at all - of an ARPG.

Spent hundreds of hours carefully building a very unique character with hundreds of aspects to consider, only to have the developers reduce and skew tiny data points to the point that my barb is weaker, less of a cohesive build, and basically not fun anymore. Undo this latest patch or this game will remain uninstalled

They gave us the same lip service they do with all of their games, and we all believed it. As soon as the first patch came around, we realized the obvious: this was a franchise cash grab from developers doing what shareholders want that do not play their own game. They essentially proved they are trying to make a loot based game without a rewarding and complex loot system, An action RPG without action, and an MMO without a strong community or social system. The lack of end game content should have been addressed with the first season update, but instead they've decided to neuter the few things that felt good in their game in favor of increasing the tediousness of basic tasks to encourage future battle pass transactions and other forms of monetization.

ARPGs generally have depth, with content that can be fun and challenging for everyone from the weekend warrior to the hardcore completionists. instead, they've decided to make the difficulty so artificial that even their most committed core like content creators, the ones who stand to profit off of the mutual success of the game, are pointing and laughing.

The Season 1 XP nerfs, patch 1.1 balance changes and the overall slow down of gameplay loop make it hard to recommend right now. The various nerfs have made non meta builds unable to compete in higher tier content, which by the developers own words should have been the opposite effect.

This game suffers from the same issues as every other activision title- looks cool enough to reel you in, but past a few hours the whole goal is to drag you along. The latest 1.1 patch is proof of this. The game was released initially with massive class issues, rather than fix those issues in the month leading up to season one, Blizzard ignored everyone’s suggestions and pushed out a patch to slow down the game. Okay, fine, slow down the game, but fix the balance issues. Sorcerer class is useless, other classes are teetering on obscurity. Tons of quality of life issues. COME ON, this isn’t the first game blizzard has ever made, not even the first Diablo, but it seems like they don’t have 3 previous games to home quality of life (lack of stash space, no stash search). Absolute mess. Already wasted $70, no way I’m spending another $30 on battle pass. Too many other great games to spend time on rather than shill out more cash to these “game developers” who treat their IP’s like money printing machines and not brands that need to be fleshed out and refined. Yet end game content either doesnt drop unique items (whispers) or have an equal chance to drop sacred items… Thats just one example of frustration. You have our money and we got a broken, unbalanced, messed up game. I play a sorc too, and you just keep defiling it further.

    Good:
    -Nice graphics, proper aesthetic.

    Bad:
-Every zone is copy/pasted, and looks EXACTLY the same. You NEVER feel like you're anywhere different.
-Every town looks exactly the same.
-Every town has a 50-mile radius around it, where you cant run with the crap horse until you're outside of said radius.
-Game is full of bugs. Endless endless bugs.
-Game has major memory leak that people have reported since the first beta, and is still not fixed.
-Game has persistent sound-bug issue where the voiceover will become bugged with echos and weird dungeon effects applied to dialog, and then never goes away. Not with a reinstall, or anything. Reporting it for months gets no reponse, either.
-Characters are unbalanced beyond words. Tuning them results in ruining them, versus improving them.
-Forced MMO & forced online only play, but then has zero MMO features and nothing of convenience for your forced-experience. You can't even chat with the world, outside of Trade, and they STILL HAVENT ADDED A GLOBAL CHAT. As if this is so unbelievably difficult.
-QoL and conveniences from past games have been just, completely left out of this one.
-Zoom on character is so uncomfortably close it makes you feel weird, and you refuse to add option to zoom out further. It's obvious it can be done, because it's done on horse, and for world bosses, or higher peaks in land. Will you ever address it? Nope.
-What year does it need to be when we are able to party with more than just 4 people like this is a LAN party or pure-console game? I play on PC. In diablo 2, I could have 8 people in a group. This is so utterly annoying and old.
-No room in stash, and can only buy 4 stash tabs. You know perfectly well adding the ability to purchase more is as easy as your ability to nerf %'s on a spreadsheet that controls the game. Just stop.
-Can't simply just 1v1 your friend if you want, must go to FoH and then risk others coming in and ruining your dueling and trolling, and since you can't request to duel outside of FoH.... this is just rudimentary.
-Mount is practically unusable, between having to stop every 10 seconds to climb a cliff, it can barely walk 1 foot forward without hitting every single solitary piece of terrain that there is.
-Every single dungeon is a copy/paste of another. All of these dungeons, yet I haven't been in a single one that has felt different from the next. They literally took the shell of one, and then made it "icy", then copy/pasted it, and made it not icy, then copy/pasted it, and switched the pathways around. It's pathetic.
-If you want any actual updates you're forced to follow these clowns personal accounts on Twitter. So if you want game updates you gotta see PezRadar shirtless and pictures/stories about his "gains journey", and whatever else, instead of actually using or communicating on the forums where everybody is, asking for some acknowledgment. If they don't like your comment on twitter, they block you. Rob Ferguson is the worst. He's 80 years old, and takes everything personally. Has no idea what this generation of gamers wants, he's just another slob like Jay Wilson, telling people what they want because "he knows" and we dont.
-Because they have no end game, or anything else actually fun in the game to do, they made leveling and progression even slower and more miserable, then proceeded to gatekeep the world tiers. Why? No reason, other than to just do the exact opposite of majority-ask and make it more miserable. You know, cause helping friends level up so you can play together is so blasphemous.
-Did I mention the items/itemization is absolutely and utterly horrendous? It's so bad. It's so stupid. 500 useless dumb buckets of things and then the comparison thing, don't even get me started. It feels like a special-education team came up with some of these concepts.
-Item drops: they're trash. They're all trash. And, if you're a cold sorc and you want gear for.... a cold sorc... you aren't getting it. You're getting 90% gear for fire/light. So you literally find the opposite of your build, 90% of the time. It's on purpose too. Odds don't work that terribly.

Games are supposed to bring joy, and fun. The only thing this game does is genuinely infuriate me while playing it, and the experience is miserable. I'm not sure how I even lasted this long. But I feel absolutely zero joy from this game. It feels like a job, not a break *from* my job. Everything's a copy/paste with minor alterations, including the cosmetics. LOL, explain why the sorc has FOUR of the same exact helmets with small differences like a string, or a barely noticeable color change?

    Bravo blizzard.. as usual.

The game was pretty fun up until patch 1.1. Now it feels brutal and my character doesn't feel powerful, I feel I need to run from mobs, and forget doing things like Helltides, they were already dangerous before, I can only imagine dying repeatedly and loosing cinders every time. Imho they should have buffed enemies instead of nerfing classes.

This game was really kinda rough from the start, but I was still doing my best to enjoy it. The engine and graphics have such potential to be a fantastic game. HOWEVER, the mechanics are (I feel intentionally) confusing, the item management is awful, the drop rates are even worse, and this is all pre-season one. When I started playing the game sorcerer was the best class, and then they nerfed it to hell making it by far the worst class. Then they released a patch (1.1) and I was hoping this would fix it. NOPE! Not only did they not fix ANY of the issues with the game, but they made everything waaaayy worse. I think I’ll spend my time and money on a different game now. Expand

This is an ACTION RPG with slow paced action. It is a LOOT hunter with boring loot. This is an MMO with no social aspects. A dungeon crawler that feels more like a game of fetch the stones and put them on the pedestals. Game clearly needed another 2 years of development but was pushed out early by executives. Expand

Development team and decision making are the downfall of this rancid waste of time. They listen to our issues and fixed nothing while making the loot worse, the grind longer, and any enjoyment we had in play out. This is the worse Development team I've ever come across.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
