    Diablo IV was a chore to play for certain classes before the 1.10a patch. Now, not only are ALL classes a chore to play because of the massive nerfs to anything that made the game fun, but underperforming classes like Sorcerer have been made entirely unplayable. The game has about 2 weeks of fun in it and in order to stretch this out devs are implementing time syncs left and right.     Started out fueled by hype, but got monotonous FAST, with minimal payout. If you've fought 5 bosses, you've fought all of them, and its just rinsing and repeating the whole way through.     I'm not really sure what the fix is here- maybe adding another tab for ability slots- it could add life and variety into the game, or diversifying the bosses and creating different types of missions, or community engagement like raid-style, team-requiring quests.

    As it stands, I spent $100 and had fun for a couple of days. Not the worst use of $100 in my life, but surely not the best.    … Expand

They are basically making it harder for you to level up and play any class now. At launch this game was fun not the best still was hoping for positive improvements now this game is nerfed to hell. Instead, they fixed nearly 300 bugs/issues, and an endless list of nerfs with the sole purpose of slowing down progression. There is no endgame incentive at all, andNo stash tabs. No leaderboards.     I want item sets, the green items, after lvl 80 there is nothing new to do or any interesting item to hunt for, why didnt you fix resistances, isnt that a critical issue to fix?

    Game was a shell, then they "updated" it to the ground.
    Season1 patch just decreased the dmg over all by 50% while you get more dmg and get less items.

    Every content except for nightmare dungeons is useless now

    10/10 if you like to get your balls kicked like me

    Good story, nice gameplay but insufficient content. I reviewed the notes for Season 1. Season 1 is lacking in content. It does not have content that can change the builds we play. Sticking to basic abilities makes us lose our sense of empowerment. Even if you are level 100, even if you build the best, you don't feel like you are getting stronger. Because you always have to use that stupidGood story, nice gameplay but insufficient content. I reviewed the notes for Season 1. Season 1 is lacking in content. All the multiplicative affixes butchered and yet Vuln, Crit, armor, cd post nerf still far outweighs the additive dmg buffs....this change solely destroys eternal realm and pushes you into seasonal as you now need seasonal malignant hearts to get anywhere NEAR TO VANILLA dmg and even then your survivability will not compare. All wePatch 1.1 ruins the game and this is not an exaggeration. Vuln crit cooldown reduc and armor still only stats to roll same as armor so this patch doesn't change damage buckets at all it just kills the Eternal server, forces you into seasonal server and destroys literally any fun that this game had to offer. The additive buffs are literally irrelevant. This patch kills s1 hype completely. This review is from a lvl 100 Twisting Blades Rogue who despite the insane lack of end game content was still having a ton of fun before this new patch. I'm boycotting s1 and probably won't return w s2 unless major rollback to these changes. This is a " wait till the first major expansion" game now.… Expand

The sounds and the visuals are satisfying and the builds don’t feel one dimensional as Diablo 3 did and you actually can have versatile subtypes within each class like how a druid can build to focus on being a werebear tank, a wind/lightning mage, an animal whisperer, or a combination of it all. Similar with other classes too how sorcerers can have different elemental specializations and mix and match with beautiful and bright effects and punchy sounds.

    The story seems to be one of those you either love it or you hate it.

    It’s also a better sequel to Diablo 3 than Overwatch 2 was to Overwatch 1(which blizzard released as basically the same game lol).

    Diablo IV does feel different enough and strikes a good combination of simple and complex.

    And it’s an ARPG. You play it for the fun explosions and effects and getting better and better loot which this satisfies pretty well.

    Sadly, as of launch, there isn’t MUCH to do in the endgame when you hit the later/max levels, but they have plans for seasons and expansions to add more. The leveling process and the classes themselves are fun though and you’ll get a ton of enjoyment out of it.

    Edit: As of the Season 1 patch I can’t in good conscience recommend this game anymore. Anything that was bad is doubled down and anything that was remotely fun is nerfed. Leveling was slowed down, classes already gutted, itemization not addressed, endgame activities heavily nerfed.

    Maybe I’ll edit this if they fix it but maybe I won’t bother like they don’t seem to bother with this game.    … Expand

They literally think players wanted a longer time to teleport out of dungeons. They need to fire the devs and bring people who care about quality and retention, not just a quick buck.     I enjoyed the campaign, but after that it got boring real fast. Now the S1 patch notes are here and Blizzard devs have showed their true colors. The do not care for player experience or fun. All they want is to make as much people play as long as possible, so they put up useless barriers to keep players from reaching the real endgame content (which is already really scarce).     The game is not finished. But players like me have paid for a full game. At this moment we have put a lot of hours in and the things that are actually fun are being nerfed. There are certain mechanics that are used so you lose time and new ones being implemented. I feel like an unpaid betatester. If I could I would have asked my money back.

    Unplayable in its current state. Probably the worst gaming experience available in 2023. If you do decide to try it make sure to purchase with a credit card. At least then you can get a refund. Blizzard is dead.

    I am a huge fan of the Diablo series, and have every game and expansion from Diablo I-IV. This latest installment looks great. It starts out great, but then, there is nothing entertaining about the END GAME. The latest patch nerfed the weakest class to the point that it is unplayable. There devs don't care about creating a fun game or improving quality of life in the game. They seem toI am a huge fan of the Diablo series, and have every game and expansion from Diablo I-IV. This latest installment looks great. It starts out great, but then, there is nothing entertaining about the END GAME. The latest patch nerfed the weakest class to the point that it is unplayable.     I'd like to pretend I'm baffled but I'm sure their logic is something like "this will increase player time in game because they are progressing slower" and as we all know in the eyes of a souless corporate husk of a company, that's the only metric they give a **** about. More time in game means more time in proximity to their in-game store. Whether or not people enjoy themselves is irrelevant.

    The newest patch is really poor. They've nerfed all the most fun stuff while making it take so much longer to access some of the best parts of the game. Helltides used to be a fun way of getting valuable gear, but now it's an absolute slog and will have you dying due to the most recent nerfs across the board. Pretty awful way to improve the user experience. Take it back!

    Unsurprisingly, given Blizzard's ruined reputation in the last 10 years or so, their developers are slave to their corporate overlords and are not making changes in any way related to player feedback. They may have a vision of the game, but it's clear they've never actually played it, at least not at a high level.     Do not play this game, with the recent patch they are trying to make the game last as long as possible in the most UNFUN way possible.

    They nerfed exp so you have to grind more. They nerfed damage, so you take more time to clear dungeons They nerfed rewards from events so you have to do many more of them to get a reward.     Blizzard had everything going for this game but decided to do nothing to fix bugs and common, valid complaints, and instead nerfed every class based on reasoning that crumbles upon encountering an ounce of critical thought. Maybe in 2 years or so they will manage to remove their heads from their cash holes.

    Prior the first patch of this game I was a huge fan. To be honest, I don’t play many MMO-type games because I find the grinding aspect to be really mind numbing & void of much enjoyment. However, one of my best friends recommended it & wanting a way to reconnect with him I bought it. To my surprise, it was really fun. Sure, there was grinding, but there were enough rewards comparable toPrior the first patch of this game I was a huge fan. I was surprised to comprehend the skill tree as much as I did, and I found pleasure in designing a unique build & getting the best equipment for it. Then the patch came out. Here’s my assessment: if the goal was to balance the game, they should have added benefits or increased the effectiveness of lesser-used builds. Instead, they decided to level the playing field out by making everyone equally weak. At the same time, I assume bc a few people who have the privilege to play games around the clock complained they finished the game quickly, the developers decided not to put in new, fun content, but instead, thru increased in-game costs, severely lowered drops, and decimated XP, they made the game a slower grind with rare, momentary blips of enjoyment. They made the game more of a time-suck. Literally, they extended the time it takes to leave a dungeon upon completion. My character became essentially null & void. I thought I could somewhat easily change my build & get new equipment, but in addition to not reducing the MASSIVE cost associated with making new gear, now I had a weaker character who took far longer to kill enemies, those enemies dropped far less loot (all of it still random, so the chances of getting what I needed were even lower) the price of opening certain chests was increased at the same time the currency to open it was reduced, and I now gained a fraction of the experience.
    I am so frustrated with this game for drawing me in only to turn around and change tone entirely. I haven’t touched the game at all like I had pre-patch. It feels like a chore or like homework now. That’s not why I play games.    … Expand

    For a good month and a half there was hope to be had that Blizzard would not do what Blizzard has always done in the last decades. But they did. People were having fun with the game and this had to stop. It's time to accept reality: The Blizzard that brought us the original Diablo and Warcraft is dead. This company is now a malignant shadow of what it was 20 years ago. Buyer beware.

    Diablo 4 fails to capture the essence of what made the franchise legendary. As a long-time fan of the Diablo series, I had eagerly anticipated this installment and was having a great time playing through the campaign and just started dipping into the end game content.. then patch 1.1 came...

    All the hard-earned progress we had made, all the hours we've put into crafting and honing our characters, feel pointless now. The Necromancer, my personal favorite, feels more like a Lackluster-mancer, its potency reduced to a husk of what it once was. Barbarians feel less like fearsome warriors and more like a disgruntled farmer with a rusty spade.

    And don't even get me started on the Sorceresses. What was once a thrilling tactical play of abilities and positioning now feels like a dull slog, as if the game is actively punishing you for daring to have an original strategy. It's an appalling move, stripping the fun and nuance out of gameplay.

    The great promise of Diablo 4 was the depth of class customization and the sense of truly owning your character's development. But with the 1.1 patch, it seems like Blizzard has abandoned that vision entirely. This is not balancing; this is bulldozing over all the characteristics that made each class unique and rewarding to play.

    Blizzard, you've broken the cardinal rule of game design: Don't take away the fun. This nerf-heavy 1.1 patch feels like a betrayal, and I can assure you, the player base is not taking this lightly. I've been a loyal player since Diablo II, but this update has me seriously considering if it's time to pack up my gear and head for greener - and more rewarding - gaming pastures.    … Expand

The PS5 trading system with other players, I still have to use a scroll wheel to input gold in multiples of 1?! Are you out of your damn mind.     They killed the game just before season 1 congratz blizzard. Every character is nerfed and with longer cooldowns nothing is fun to play anymore. We take more dmg, less exp. Hope they fix it or this thing won't be playable.

    They took all the good features from the older games and trashed them out to implement the bad ones. When the players started to have some fun, they didn't implement much new content and just watched the gameplay from the top 1%, so they decided to nerf everything to prolong the end game. Is as sad as it gets.

    This is Diablo 3 all over again. They launched that game in a complete mess, thinking they knew what they wanted. Took them several years before they got loot and fun factor right there. In Diablo4, they are doing ALL the same mistakes again. So expect sevaral years, to get them to understand that. Dont play Season 1, just uninstall, and play something else.

I cannot believe at this current juncture that any of the developers who designed and implemented these changes have ever played the game. With this level of poor leadership and incompetence, this game is on a fast track to irrelevance.

    There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
