    70 EUR for this unfinished peace of a game. Its that kind ob bad and feels like a beta. Patches are ridicolous and slow. Never again in my life i buy a blizzard game on release.

I have been playing blizzard games since Warcraft 1 and every title they made for a very long time ---- warcraft 2 / tides of darkness expansion then the battle.net edition that allowed online multiplayer. Then Starcraft 1 then Broodwar. Then Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. And Lord of destruction expansion. Warcraft 3 reign of chaos into Frozen throne expansion. Then World of Warcraft. Then starcraft 2 and all its expansions.... Slowly over time they shifted into microtransactions and shady business practices where the heart of the company died. Blizzard is not the same company it once was it is now just a shadow of a greedy stock market investor using strings to orchestrate a money printing method to prey on young adults and children and their parents. Do not support this company. Support a better game dev like Larian Studios who actually values your hard earned money and your time invested into a game. Baldurs gate 3 is 10,000 times better game than this game will ever be.… Expand

    I enjoyed the game quite a bit in the beginning. I liked the campaign and story, because I enjoy things like that. I found it to be very easy, but I didn't really mind. I thought the boss mechanics were much better than Diablo 3 and the campaign in general was much better, so I took it for that.

    As I continued to play, however, and especially into season one, I feel like I _want_ to    I enjoyed the game quite a bit in the beginning. I liked the campaign and story, because I enjoy things like that. I found it to be very easy, but I didn't really mind. I thought the boss mechanics were much better than Diablo 3 and the campaign in general was much better, so I took it for that.

    As I continued to play, however, and especially into season one, I feel like I _want_ to like the game a lot more than I _do_ like the game. I don't mind that the progression system isn't as ridiculous as PoE, and I don't mind that the developers are still trying to figure some balance things out. I like some of the concepts they're trying to go for, but I think the execution is very poor and feels very rushed. I also am having a harder and harder time feeling like there aren't shareholder metrics that I'm literally paying for ruining the enjoyment of my game. Things like the drop rates of items linked to arbitrary completion tiers for the season seem like a no-brainer to me, although being in the industry, it's easy to see that on the player end while it could very well have been a poor design balance decision and just a communication miss between the people putting together the season chore list and the drop tuning.

    Either way, my score has to stay pretty low because the game as it is now, including season one, has some highlights (to me): story / campaign, cut scenes, campaign bosses, _some_ mechanics, and a lot of potential, but is otherwise essentially an paid alpha / early-access and a buggy mess. Nothing is really balanced, there is _clearly_ a missing world tier past around the 85ish range, and it seems like stuff was stretched and re-worked to try to accommodate that. My guess is that originally you were supposed to go into nightmare at 40, torment at 60, and then something else at 80 that had another system / mechanic / content, which got pushed. Likely to a paid expansion /shrug but maybe just for timing.

    I will definitely play season 2 and see how it goes, but I'm really disappointed. At this time, I wouldn't recommend anyone not already invested pay for this game. I'd wait until the first expansion comes out and you can get a bundle, or we see if tuning and content get fixed with seasons 2 or 3 and play other things for now.    … Expand

    Don't buy this game. The devs are completely out of touch with the players and their game. Loot is boring and most is trash. The endgame consists of running the same 15 dungeons 100 times. They want to put you on the treadmill but have no reward to entice uou to keep grinding.

    Big pile of trash on the top of a garbage pile...the game is so bad even after patch 1.1.1. i played for 5 minutes and almost felt physical pain.I had high hopes for D4, but its just simply badly designed,boring and mindless game from a soulless company im not buying any more blizzard games in the future for sure.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This isn't a review bomb. I've thought long/hard about this. It is sad because this game could have been amazing. In the beginning - the first week - it felt like it was going to be. I sang it's praises; I looked past the obvious flaws. I said "it just came out, they will fix it..."

    But Blizzard has.done nothing but make the game worse, week after week. It is clear to me now that this game was highly engineered/researched/developed to extract the most money out of me as possible.

    How you ask - there is no pay to win, you don't need to buy a battle pass/skin. True. But Blizz has, and.continues, to make the game increasingly frustrating/unrewarding/unfun - with the expectation that I will spend more $.

    It feels like a rug pull... and that is a big reason for the rating. 2 quick examples:

    Leveling takes FOREVER, and past lvl 55-60 it's the only thing to do. There used to be a 25% exp boost for doing more difficult dungeons. This hardly made a difference, but it was all that was left after countless nerfs made leveling to 100 insanely more difficult than it was at launch. They did this right before the 1st season: it discouraged you from leveling your non-seasonal character... But hey, there are leveling buffs in the season, so just start a new toon and level up in the season, right? Why would Blizzard do this... well you can't buy a season pass if you aren't playing in the season now can you? They broke the "eternal realm" to push people to the "seasonal" realm. Call this theory crazy, explain how it wouldn't work on you. But it WILL WORK ON SOME PEOPLE. And every $ counts. So they did it - a rug pull. Now it takes 25% longer (in just this one change) to level up.

    They also increased the amount of time it takes to teleport out of a dungeon after clearing it by a significant %. Why why why in the world would they do this? Because every second adds up, and the longer they can keep you from getting exp, the longer they can keep you in the game.... You're more likely to buy a season pass, but even if you don't they can quote higher player counts at their seasonal, sorry - quarterly profits calls. Seconds add up, and this was just the canary in the coal mine that was so blatant and on the nose. Believe that they are actively trying every possible trick in the book to do the exact same thing via other mechanics/changes/etc.

    I could go on and on, in sure others have. It would be one thing if the game just released with the problems it has. But it is much more than that - this is a rug pull. They are actively making the game worse to play, in an attempt to get more money from the players. Regardless of if it is working, or blowing up in their face -- that is what's going on.

    My wife and I both paid $90+ tax for early access. We were looking forward to playing this for 100's of hours, but we both quit - independently - before 3 weeks. She's at lvl 56, I made it to 82.

    It's not fun. On top of all the BS it is not fun, and our time is better spend on a number of better games.

    It's really sad what Blizzard did to this beloved IP. It will never be enough money for them...    … Expand

    What got me this far to sign up for an account to review was because the unbelievable level that the Devs of this game disrespects it's players.

    Hundreds of hours sinked into the game, building the character, picking up every single piece of garbage drop because of the unbelievable reroll cost. working on the gears and aspects. Only to get slammed with a nerf hammer putting your build into a unplayable piece of craps. worked on another build and character for some time again, just to get another hit into ground.

    I don't understand we aren't getting any respect when we paid for the game and invested so much time just to get ripped into pieces because they can.

    For those that haven't played the game. Don't bother, it's just going to be disappointing. The game was not designed to be fun, and they're trying to take more fun away when you finally find something.

    By the way, this game, with the name Diablo, does not include Diablo in the whole gaming process.    … Expand

    Played to lvl 100. Then it fell off... nothing to do. No-one to play with. No end-game (unless you call Uber Lilith end-game). No trade. S1 is very very bad and the changes could have come MUCH MUCH sooner.. They say that they listen their audience but they are not. Maybe season 7 will be better.

    I bought this really excited, specially after the beta. The game play, the ambiance, the detail, all of it. However, playing it now it feels really slow paced (comparing to D3 and D2). The char growth is soooooooooooooo slow. I take almost 3/2 the time to level a char here when compared to D3. It grows boring. I've created several chars and up to a point of grinding on a season, it's justI bought this really excited, specially after the beta. The game play, the ambiance, the detail, all of it.     Wish I could get a refund for this game. Diablo 4 offers very little in variation and gear rewards. It gets repetitive very fast and is simply not worth the pricetag of 70 Euro. This will be the last Blizzard game I'll ever buy if there within short time isn't significant improvements in gameplay.

The campaign is great and I had a lot of fun when playing through that part of the game on my initial play through. Hopefully this game will get good someday, because the bones of a great game are there, but Blizzard is going to have to make leaps (like they did with Diablo 3) to get it to that point, and I just am not hopeful with the direction that company has been headed lately.     Un despropósito de juego hecho sin ganas que marca el inicio del final de la saga Diablo.

    I was a huge Diablo Fan. But this Game is just Trash. They nerfed every fun Part. Explore 4 Dungeons and you`ve seen them all. Did i mentioned the 6 same Dungeonendbosses? Just wait for Path of Exile 2 - lot more to do, lot more fun and it costs 0$. Was my last Game from Bli$$ard.

The same content repeated over and over is simply not very fun. I would, if I could, for the first time in my life, ask for my money back. The devs look at players who are professional or are somehow monetizing their game to react to their setup. Meanwhile 99% of others are repeating the same content over and over.... and over and over. The first season is underway and already feels so lethargic. I invested in D2R and it is still loads better than D4. Don't waste you money on the glitzy graphics if the game itself is not fun and is boring. It's not the same thing as doing Baal or Mepisto runs. Those were fun for what you got in the game. Blizzard needs the "twitter treatment" as in someone acquire Blizzard and fire 60% of the engineers!     Review gets a 1 because I have seen worse. This recent patch however gutted ever class, but the weakest class in the game took the biggest hit. I log in only to find my Sorc doing 80% less damage than before the patch. This isn't playable, and judging at how long it takes them to fix something (if they even fix it), I'll be long done with D4 before that day comes.

    The latest “Devs play the game” video just shows how out of touch this company is, or maybe so in touch that they did it on purpose to give faces and identity for players to blame.

    The only reason I am not giving it a one was because the art and cutscene team did an absolutely amazing job in capturing what the game should be, if only the other departments at Blizzard put even 10% of the effort in as the art team did, they would have a functional game.

    The game play could be fun but resistances don't work and the game play has been simplified to this "is your unstoppable button off cooldown? Then live. If your unstoppable button is on cooldown, die." That's it, the only times you die is when your unstoppable is on cooldown. Very stupid.

    No end game.
    The design of the inventory is absolutely foolish - you collect gear in this game to try new builds but they severely limit your inventory space. They have since went on to complain that adding more inventory space is tough - I will remind us all that Path of Exile exists... with practically unlimited inventory space and that's a free to play game. How is it that blizzard is a multibillion dollar company but can't figure "more inventory" space out? It's because it costs real money to have more server for the storage and they cut corners to save money so f the gamers. Lazy.

    Next is the search function, do you know what it's like looking though 200 pieces of gear to find 1 aspect? Why isn't there a search function for this? It feels like I spend 30% of the time reading to find items I need.

    Most of the drops are utter trash but there is no way to tell so you are forced to read through all of for a possible slight upgrade.

    There are over 50 type of damage modifiers... close damage, far damage, cold damage, frozen damage... this ish goes on and on and on. It's almost impossible to find a piece of gear with exactly the stats YOU NEED! It's frustrating.

    Why would blizzard do this? Because they want to keep you "engaged" and playing. They are wasting your time, treating you like a fool merely to keep you playing because you might spend more money...

    There's so much to complain about but I will just stop. I paid almost 130 dollars for this game and I can say it's worth 30 dollars. Unfinished, unpolished, boring, tedious and ultimately not fun. I won't buy a blizzard product again.    … Expand

The classes are wildly imbalanced and get worse with every patch and hotfix, Blizzard is clearly out of touch with what makes a game fun. They are no longer in the entertainment business, they're in the shareholder business. This is the last Blizzard title I pre-purchase, I've learned my lesson and will wait and see with any new game they put out because Diablo IV was a classic bait-and-switch. They got our money up front and there's no recourse for refund. Lesson learned.… Expand

The customization of characters feels like options you'd get in a title from the mid 2000's.

    The devs clearly don't care, they made great cinematic scenes for a short story and then used those to sell us an indie caliber mini-game. Activision has officially killed Blizzard, its only a soulless corporate entity that will crank out games on schedule to bring in revenue with little care to the functionality of the game or their (now dwindling) customer base. Perhaps if they spent a little less time sexually harassing their employees and put a little more time in developing their games Diablo 4 would have been great.    … Expand

The story is really good and cut scenes, The only thing I could think was that the top 2% who play 10 hours a day rammed though the game and found exploits along the way, and Blizzard crushed everything to slow them down.     Can’t forget all the times I was at the end of a dungeon and the server crashed and I had to do it all over again. There are too many of those dungeons to collect aspects (special boosts to certain character attributes and abilities). You may get sick of them very quickly.

    D III was more fun.

    If I could go back in time I would have told me to spend the $ on Baldur’s Gate 3 pre-order and Trepang2.    … Expand

    They turned an arpg looter power fantasy series into a greed grind. This game is good at stripping you of any sense of feeling accomplished, and the money from your wallet with bloated prices for cosmetics that you don't really see very well in an isometric game anyway, season passes which is a grind ON TOP OF stripping your accrued progress on you to force you to do it all again.

    This is an enormous problem. I have a level 63 seasonal Rogue, my highest character, because I got bored at 61 on my original Rogue, couldn't get past 55 on Druid because it bored me, and a 45 Sorceress I just don't    Levels 20-55 or 60 give players a false sense that this is leading somewhere when really, you've essentially played all there is to play by the time you're 60% leveled up.

    This is an enormous problem. I have a level 63 seasonal Rogue, my highest character, because I got bored at 61 on my original Rogue, couldn't get past 55 on Druid because it bored me, and a 45 Sorceress I just don't want to continue leveling when they want me to run vanilla nightmare dungeons for 10s to 100s of hours to get from 50-100.

    I don't know how they thought Season 1's gems would change the game in such a way people would be happy about the battle pass or bring people back to the game.

    Then the devs literally punish players instead of enhancing fun with their patches.

    Then they show two devs that are so bad they don't even *accidentally* use core skills or potions like a 5-year-old would if they button mashed, dying in T1 at lvl 55 had to turn off the comments on the YouTube video because Blizzard themselves pushed the negative narrative that devs are disconnected from the games they work on.    … Expand

    Expensive transactions are also a problem. Many cosmetic items are locked behind a paywall, which can be frustrating for players who want to customize their characters.

    Finally, the game is full of repetitive, generic fights. Many enemies are the same, and the fights are not very challenging. This makes the game feel stale and boring after a while.

    Not of a word of a lie I have insomnia, the type that makes it hard to fall asleep, and diablo for literally put me to sleep at 8:00 - repetitively and consistently. It honestly just feels like a bubble popping game where the bubbles are demons.. Truly terrible drivel. I'm actually surprised they released this game, let alone releasing this game in the state that it is. The release was one of the scummiest things that I've ever seen a blizzard do, as everybody thought that the battle pass was going to be immediately available to get rewards from day one! But of course no they don't want you to experience MORE things at once so they have to do MORE work COULD YOU MAKE THE GAME ACTUALLY INTERESTING, SO THEY HAD TO STRING IT OUT AND LET YOU BEAT THE GAME AND THEN THEY GAVE YOU THE BATTLE PASS. The battle pass mind you doesn't give you enough to buy the next battle pass nor does it allow you to buy anything of use in the store! Not to mention the dark pattern that exists for controller players where you will automatically click on it by pressing a which is so unfortunate, greedy, and disgusting that they are refusing refunds for the token. Bobby Kotick is the worst thing that has ever happened to gaming. Activision is the worst thing that has ever happened to getting so for them the two forces to be combined is the most shamefully disgusting and scummy company to ever exist. I'm just glad that while I was playing the game I never saw anybody with any purchased cosmetics, and the one time that I did I made fun of the guy. He actually apologized and told me it wasn't worth it lmao. I'm so sad to see the state of gaming nowadays and I'm so happy to see that Baldur's Gate 3 is going to kick the s*** out of you guys for years to come.     Terrible devs, terrible publisher's, terrible game. Played this game for over 200 hours and what a waste of life it has turned out to be. I was just waiting and hoping for a fix to multiple aspects of the game which never come. What a shame as it has alot of potential.

    However, I finished the Season 1 Journey. I got my final reward, I opened it, then I quit.

    300 hundred hours into trying to find a way to love this game and you dump this crappy reward on all of the people who where foolish enough to hold out hope and keep the faith that something good would come and actually finish it.

    In general, the game is very poor, the story is not bad, but the endgame is one of the worst things I've seen in my more than 30 years of playing video games. Many things can be said, but it can be summed up by the fact that it is an extremely boring game, with mechanics designed by children. It seems like a game from 15 years ago, with no content and no motivation to keep playing.

    The game is just pure crap. The lag is huge every time I want to play and if it appears when you're in combat, you can just lose all hope of survival. In addition to all other critics that are completely true, they make this game unplayable.

    I don't know why I still hoped that Blizzard could manage to make a decent game, but even this time, it's a total letdown. The latest patch is the confirmation that they don't even know which direction to take for improvements. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't buy it, as I won't buy any of their games blindly anymore. Embarrassing for a company of this size.

    Terrible game. Scam really. Completely boring and getting worse. Dev's will do anything to waste your time in game to "boost" their hours played number. Problems with storage. Slow teleporting. Hardcore characters dying to off screen attacks. Buyer beware. Not sure how much the Blizzard paid the Critic Reviewers....

    Diablo 4 should rather be named as "Hell 4 U". It was funny to play at the start, but lack of content, lack of boss variety, short story, awful season just destroying the experience.
    In case new bosses, activities and season content added I'd likely to get back.
    For now, not playing and even regreting buying it.

    I bought the $100 collector edition and didn't even finish my free battle pass. This game is very shallow. Replayability is tedious. I was level 76 by the time I got the unique I need for my build. Quit the next day, why play any more? End game is laughable. They patch the game 3 times a week to fix the issues from the last patch.     Don't buy this until it will get some patches making this game entertaining. Unfortunately, from my experience with blizzard games changes comes usually with paid DLCs...

    Overall story and graphics are on very good level but there is no endgame like in previous Diablo games.

    Garbage. Waste of time. I played to level 95 in the regular playthrough and 45 in season one. I was bored out of my mind and I couldn't even force myself to get to 100. Not even a game, just a cash grab.

    There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

    The visuals are probably what excited me the most. The way the game looks and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm playing the old Diablo again. On steroids and on a quadruple screen TV, but the feeling is still there. [Issue#328]
