Devs have been actively updating the game which sounds like it would be a positive except for the fact that there are so many glaring quality of life issues that respecing a character to cope with the changes makes the entire process completely exhausting. I've played 1 class since launch and have spent dozens of hours farming items and resources to respec into a viable version of that class multiple times. The time and labor investment in just retooling the paragon board to make my build viable after the last patch (1.1) was the final straw. Congratulations Blizzard, you broke me. Maybe I'll check back in a year or so and see if you have found a way to make this into a finished product, until then I cannot in good conscience recommend this title. Expand

Here's my review, story was quite decent, but nothing at around 80$, and the new patch? THE NEW PATCH? bro just delete the game out of my account and give my money back, i paid 80$ for this? i can't wait till Larian sets a new standard for every RPG game out there, i will just buy the game right now and i gonna forget about D4 for the rest of its lifetime

Stupid decisions on patch 1.1, the mere fact that you wanted to bring nerfs is fine but not providing alternative options is a huge L. Uninstalled.

In addition when reading the patch note it seems that none of the devs have actually played to the game...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The mindset of "the "game" only really starts after you've completed the campaign." is one of the dumbest takes i've seen. As I played through the campaign there were certain legendaries that I needed to complete my build to play the way I wanted too. I was lucky and got my first drop at level 28 but didn't get another legendary drop of the same aspect until I had beaten the game and reached level 60. Since the legendary aspect was on my weapon, that meant that unless I wanted to play a different build, my only option was to use this lv 28 weapon until I got a second drop, which made the game grueling to play through. Now I know that I could have just picked a different build and ran that through the campaign, but what game makes you tailer your playstyle depending on what random drops you get? Why are dedicated legendary drop sources not a thing in this game? once I beat the game and got to the "post game" that everyone said would be the best part, I just didn't care anymore. The only thing I had to look forward to being nightmare dungeons and Uber Lilith as a final "test" for my character, but since I basically needed to be level 100 to fight Uber Lillith and there was no inbetween boss, I had no drive or desire to grind my character after finishing the campaign and unlocking world tier 3. blindly playing through and grinding, hoping I got lucky, and I could get another drop to make the exact same build I am running stronger (just by having an on level legendary aspect) or that I got enough other legendries or uniques to make a different build. there was no step progression that drove me to want to play further.

After the 1.1 update it has completely killed any desire, I had to revisit the game and start a fresh new character. Season 28 of Diablo 3 felt right, it was refreshing with the altar of rites making the grind and gameplay easier to get to max level and try out new things but dropping the 1.1 nerfs to every character just before season 1 killed the game. Now even if I wanted to come back and play my eternal realm character to finish the grind and beat Uber Lilith, I do significantly less damage, grinding XP got much harder and I get less, it takes longer to kill all the mobs and clear dungeons, I take more damage than I did before which was bad enough as it was because I was gettting 1 tapped or CC'd to death frequently enough, AND its now much harder to farm gear with the nerf to helltides. I'm sure given enough seasons, this game will get better as blizzard figures out how they want this game to be, but I really don't care about the eventual state of the game, if I wanted to play a game that got good around season 12 or 15, I would have bought the game WHEN THEY GOT TO SEASON 12 OR 15, not when it released. I also don't want to be that guy that compares Diablo to POE, but with how terrible they are handling season 1, I have to. Not only is this games post-game WAY WORSE than POE, it's not even close. Now I know POE has also had plenty of seasons and almost 10 years of development to get to where it is, but it is also a completely FTP game, not a $70 release game. It's just really disappointing, seeing how they did so well with Season 28 of Diablo 3, I was hoping they had used their 28 trial seasons there to put together a really solid season 1 of Diablo 4, but I was wrong.

Blizzard will never learn, and I really hope that Diablo 4 dying will make them.

Started out ok. Then, instead of adding meaningful content, Blizzard just nerfed everything into the ground to increase their "time played" metrics. POE and LE both do ARPGs better now.

This game had so much potential, until you got to the end and realized there was little to no soul. There are no loot filters so half of the game is looking through rare items you've picked up and vendoring 99% of them. Upgrades are small percentage points at best once you've hit end game.

The uniques are awful. Seriously makes no sense how and why they designed uniques this way in the game. Getting a good unique in D2 was a great feeling and allowed you to trade towards a BIS item needed for your build. None of that exists in this game. The poor design on uniques means most will go straight to a vendor.

Lastly, the last "balance" patch is a clear indication that this game is intended to become another chore simulator with time played metrics. The cash shop will no doubt start being loaded with crap to speed this process up in the near future when season 1 starts. The blizzard of old is gone and the systems implemented in this game are only intended to waste your time to make you pay like they did for Immortal. What a shame.

D4 wants us to do an mmo-like grind and lock us into builds, thus eliminating point 2.

I remember d3 also had a rough start with auction house and completely unbalanced difficulty tiers, but eventually became great game. I hope d4 can do the same, but d4 core problems seem harder to correct.

It’s a fun experience early on, and the campaign is well-crafted, but the late game is extremely lacking and clearly rushed. There’s nothing fun to do after level 70, and itemization and item drops are a huge negative; simply put, there was no thought behind how to ensure a meaningful, positive feedback loop that would keep players hooked. To add to the mediocrity, most builds are unviable after the most recent season 1 patch due to huge reductions in survivability and damage. Blizzard justifies this large patch as being necessary for bringing the game into alignment with their vision, but they have done an awful job of articulating their vision and no one really understands the purpose of their game design outside of driving engagement. One major problem blizzard seemingly hasn’t come to terms with through their game design is that retention > engagement. Retention is driven by long-term value whereas engagement can be built through short-term, trivial, and easily forgettable reward systems that burn out and frustrate customers. A company with low player retention may claim victory for their product at launch, but the damage to their brand over time will be immense if churn is high, and I suspect that after this game, blizzard may not be held in as high esteem as it once was. Brand loyalty = retention and long-term value, and Blizzard is doing a very poor job of understanding this. Expand

I don't know why, but for some time AAA game studios treat games only as money making. How is it possible that Blizzard doesn't know anything about their game? 0/10 is not enough for a €70 title that was supposed to be a game for years. And also paid content in the game we pay for. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First and foremost, I am a casual gamer. I was not supposed to buy this game but bought it anyway because of how much I enjoyed D3 playing wizard/sorcerer.

I played sorcerer for the campaign and toughed it out using a frost nova hydra build because it was the most suitable with my playstyle. Battles were usually long and arduous. Later on it became a task. I am mainly a solo player and only encounter other players during world events. That's when I see players 10 levels lower than my sorc from other classes dealing more damage.

I don't usually look at the numbers (unlike the plyers at reddit which is cool) but the disparity between classes was in plain sight. I thought maybe the sorc will be stronger at 100 but happened upon a 100 sorc in a legion event. Both of us tried to take down a structure but it took painfully long until a druid "TOUCHED" it and took us out of our misery. Honestly it was demoralizing since the druid was lvl 77, I was at 86.

Basically, a 80+ and a 100 lvl sorc combined, is weaker than a 77 druid. I retired my sorc that night. I would have uninstalled the game but I paid 150+ for this and I have not gotten my money's worth. If I can't get it from the fun aspect, I might as well get it from playtime.

Created a rogue for season 1 and battles are finally looking up. But...

Season 1 is underwhelming and frustrating. New dungeon mechanics make it hard to complete for malignant hearts but require a malignant invoker that is not even a guaranteed drop in the same dungeon. Am I supposed to run around dungeons for a "chance" to complete it because that, to me, sound like a scam and a good way to tell me to cut my losses and just uninstall.

I expected a fun game and a little challenge. I guess Blizzard wanted to build a challenging game more than a fun one so now we get a patch that makes things more difficult, in the process lessening the fun aspect. The game has become more and more uninteresting.

The only saving grace I have is I share the account with my partner and did not pay twice for a bad game.

Many bugs are not fixed in patch 1.1.1 and Blizzard never response the forums in which players report these bugs. For example, Necromancer blighted corpse tendrils dose NOT create blood orbs after last maintenance. The Great Feast heart is [+] instead of [x] in its description. I’m totally disappointed.

Update: decided to go "deeper" into endgame. Quickly or rather slowly found out that there is no depth. Legendaries that started dropping and would offer "new" powers proved to be a rather lateral progression, not really changing my build because they can't. After level 50 any "new" thing or any item proved to be a gimmick that could give the expression to some people that the game and how you build your character could be complex and has depth. But it doesn't, it's a shallow autoclick free to play style mobile game. Then the newest patch came out and the next day I found out I'm leveling 30% slower doing the same dungeons, while being the same level. Calculated that in order to get to max level I would need at least 200 more hours just for that. Also found out that some of the really good items wore and had in my stash were destroyed by the patch. Practically salvage now, basically deleted. So they promised they won't wipe the boring altars and renown progress every season. In the same time they decided the players are worth nothing and they can simply delete their items, humiliate them and make them find other items. Such a level of disrespect can be treated only 1 way if a person respects him/her/we self. If they think they are Gods more power to them. I will not spend another second of my time on them. Never again Blizzard or Activision, for any reason, even as a gift. I uninstalled it and their buggy launcher too. Now if someone gifts me the game I will politely refuse it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As an owner of the Ultimate edition, I would like to express my disappointment regarding the rewards.

Wings: They have a good and epic appearance, but the three-second animation and the animation turning off make it seem like a late April's Fools joke. This item should have the option for users to permanently turn it on or off based on their preference.

Horse: I can create a better-looking pony using MS Paint. This horse seems like a joke and should have a unique design that stands out as one of a kind.

Now, let's discuss the game itself:

Skills: I had higher expectations in terms of the number of base skills and the passives associated with them. There should be a wider variety of skills to provide more options for gameplay.

Story length: The story is interesting and captivating, but it should be optional for those who are more focused on the end-game. Players should have the choice to engage with the story or skip it if they prefer.

Leveling: As a casual player who spends around 3-5 hours per day, reaching level 1-40 takes a couple of days, level 40-60 takes a bit longer, and reaching level 60+ can take over a week or even more. The leveling process should be faster, as I lost motivation to continue pushing forward around level 50.

End game: The endgame content is lacking. Currently, it only consists of PvP and repeated dungeon runs. More alternative progression and endgame content should be introduced to provide players with additional options and goals.

Ubers: The entire battle system needs to be reworked, as it feels like a kill-or-be-killed scenario. Attempting to learn the mechanics seems useless, as the ubers are overpowered.

Beyond this issue I think the biggest problem with diablo 4 is that the games campaign's bosses are boring as **** compared to diablo 2. Diablo 2's campaign and settings were inherently captivating and each boss was hype due to the unique boss design and the way you beat each one. Diablo 4 is horribly bland in comparison and honestly Id rather play diablo 2 any day over diablo 4 because of the bosses alone

The game is a 3/10 experience wrapped in an 8/10 package. The visuals engine is great. The sound engine is passable. Yet these things only seem to delay the inevitability of starting to get annoyed by the game.

Its dark and atmospheric yet the world feels soul-less and empty. So much of the world just lacks anything except a pack of scrub mobs that attempt to hit you as you ride by.

The open world seems like the basis the whole game was created upon yet it is the thing introducing the most friction into the experience.

Towns are laid out hilariously poorly. I understand the people saying "it is for immersion" etc but at a certain point I am playing the game to have fun. It is not fun to watch my character slowly walk from black smith to stash to occultist, especially when "the town is lava" is a concept in-grained into many diablo/arpg players.

Everything the developers could implement to introduce friction, tedium and time waste they took the opportunity to do so. Oh you are enjoying riding your horse for a slight speed boost while running from dungeon to dungeon? Too bad you have to get off every time there is a random ledge the devs added into the map. Oh and then your horse is on a 9 second cool down. It's laughable.

The combat looks impactful but is actually a slog to experience. This mainly comes down to the level scaling where you are effectively punished for leveling up. Didn't get a good weapon drop? Not impactful passive point (lets be honest - most of them are not impactful)? Then your character just got weaker upon leveling up. Eventually you will out scale the monsters but it really feels like a grind to get there. Even when you hit the scaling tipping point, there is still so little mob density in certain areas that combat still does not become engaging.

I don't think any hardcore player will argue with the fact that the game is extremely grindy. It requires an immense amount of time as it is to progress, and that time is multiplied by all the added tedium.

Dungeon design is so bad. So bad. There are maybe 2 interesting tile sets? The rest feel so lifeless and similar. This is particularly confusing because I just spent so much time running to the new dungeon, surely it will look and feel different than the one far away right? Wrong. The actual mechanics of the dungeon are so annoying. "Collect animus from carriers" might as well just read as "kill all elites". There is no surplus of animus, no choice to make in which elites to kill. You have to kill them all. The dungeon layouts are not player friendly and often require backtracking multiple times just to find the remaining elite or straggler to kill. It is extremely unengaging. Or how about the interactables that require you to stand still and channel for 1.5 seconds? It sure would be annoying to have that channeling be stopped by an insignificant auto attack from a white mob (it is).

Everything they could add to waste your time they did. I won't even get into farming renown (or the thought of having to do it again per season) but wow it is such a boring grind. In a game whose core story is life or death for the characters and sanctuary, it sure seems weird that I am doing so many fetch quests for random NPCs in the world. There is absolutely nothing engaging about the side quest system. Other than adding to the grind, of course.

There are minimal exciting synergies that are not just a conditional multiplier for damage. Druid seems to be the only class that has some interplay between its elements, or forms and that leads to some interesting builds. The rest not so much. You always feel like you are playing a build the designers intended you to play. That is a big red flag when it comes to game design. There is nothing clever implemented just more damage multipliers. With a weird over reliance on the vulnerability mechanic. Nothing like a status so core to the game you have no option but to find a way to apply it on literally every build. The systems appear like there is more than meets the eye but you are soon disappointed once you make it passed the campaign.

The most annoying part is these glaring issues will not be immediately apparent to the casual player. The casual player is still having a great time looking at the visuals and slowly killing monsters. That is fine. But all of this culminates into a mediocre experience, and a bad ARPG game.

The campaign has very few cool moments and except two bosses they are all not very memorable.
If you compare this to other games like lost ark or POE2 it does not stand a chance.
It saddens me that they took the safest route for diablo and did not improve the genre as blizzard used to when they release a new game.

I already forgot how many nerfs the Barbarian has, but it's more than 5. Now they are nerfing everything in the game to make it even more of a hard grind, but people will get bored and it will be the same as what happened in Diablo 3. I'm solo player and I really have nowhere to play to raise approximately good exp. After level 70 it starts to require 5-6 (already 9 million) and one dungeon gives you a maximum of 750-790k exp, this means that you have to do two and a half hours the same thing over and over to level up, even though the dungeon takes 10 minutes. Even more so now PoE 2 is coming out and if Blizzard don't want their game to die in a few weeks they will have to consider their community, not only the people who roar non-stop about which class was very loud. There's no point in listing every single thing about the game, ABSOLUTELY everything good about the game was ruined - I'm not exaggerating at all!

I paid €90 for this game and feel totally ripped off.
You get rewards for games you don't even play, just one grumpy emoji/reaction and one mythic battlepass. Even if you try to comfort yourself with the fact that the game is nice, you can't be so blind and deluded, you buy a certain product and end up getting something completely different. It's like buying a brand new Apple Phone and getting a microwave for the same price but with the Apple logo.

I often have the game crash on me. To have constant white screens when loading the game initially. The game is basically what diablo would be if wow developers made their version of it. The scaling of monster difficulty is pretty brutal and the game is a constant grind. I played every diablo and I would say this is complete trash. Fire these developers and move on

Weird they don't point out the 10/10 bots

This game is pretty, but also, pretty soulless. I was always skeptical of the fake hype and the 10/10 shill reviews but I at least thought the game would be 4 or 5 out 10.. I was let down. I only have myself to blame. We had the betas and the footage. A game's visuals are only 1% of the whole story. you could see it was just a $100 skin over

I only have myself to blame. We had the betas and the footage. A game's visuals are only 1% of the whole story. you could see it was just a $100 skin over a bad design and clunky mess. It is as bad or worse than anthem. It has all the same features and flaws except anthems campaign was better and fighting mobs felt decent.

The campaign... omg the campaign. it took me 15-20 hours to beat the whole campaign but it felt like decades. I just wanted it to be over but it just kept dragging on and on AND ON. And at the end you literally have to fight the same fing bosses over again that you hated fighting the first time. I played on Tier 1 so things would go faster and smoother which it did for the getting from point a to point b with mobs dying fast enough unless you get the archnem mob ( poe reference, and no I hate current poe and don't play it anymore so i'm not just a poe player hating the game ). BUT THE WORST was the "bosses" or "mini bosses" that have the bars. They are just annoying meat bags in the way of playing the game you have to smack down. I guess it wouldn't be THAT bad if it was just a few in the campaign.....no you have to fight one of these boring lame pos every 2 minutes. the campaign would be half as long if they didn't put these artificial bosses that i've already forgotten the names of by the time i'm done fighting them every time you take a step. I could have beaten the campaign a little faster but I was getting the statues and aspects I needed for my build so I could feel stronger and be prepared for endgame when I got there... however it felt pointless since I never felt a power boost ONCE during gameplay. I got all the items I needed and felt like I was lvl 5 with nothing because the mobs just out scale you. The story itself was written by some diversity hire that probably used chat gpt to write most of the plot and dialogue. Most of it was just to artificially increase the game time so people like asmongold can shill and say " at least you got your $100 worth with the time you spent playing it".. pathetic. don't get me started on this guy straight up gaslighting people and blaming them for not liking this trash.

The endgame is quite literally just diablo immortal and anthem combined. you run around doing nothing but the game says you're doing something so you huff on the copium tank and sit there with a blank stare on your face as you run from location to location.

The dungeons are the worst most trash pos garbage low iq never played a game in your life design i've ever seen. You know what we want when we do a "dungeon" , "rift", "map"? we want to pop in and BLAST. You know what we get in d4? mini campaign missions, just like in anthem. You go in and you have no idea how long it'll last. They make you pick up ish, they make you find random crap to get things from them, they MAKE YOU KILL 95% OF A DUNGEON THE SIZE OF CALIFORNIA and more..... the worst part? dungeons can have multiple "layers" or "dungeons" in a dungeon and they ALL have one of these requirements to complete it. And what makes it worse is when you just want a dungeon to last 4 minutes and you get 10 cursed shrines and chests.... REMOVE THESE. you know how many times I was fighting the butcher, saw a shrine, and was like "THANK GOD" AND IT WAS A FING CURSED SHRINE!!?!?!?!? TOO MANY!

Gear is boring. i can see where they were going and i've thought about how a system like this could work before and i'm glad they did it to show me I was wrong. other than that it's not even worth the time to get in to.

The game has 3 of the 4 big NOPES for me when it comes to games
    1. jumping / climbing puzzles - they're not really puzzles but they exist and ruin horses
    2. mokoko seeds - whoever puts these in games should be in prison for life
    3. paid early access ( days not early access status ) which anthem had too
    4. sailing - there's always room for them to f up.

Monetization isn't as bad as poe. Insane we don't see a yong yea video about GGG being greedy trash. With that said the game should not have any monetization ffs. I spent 107 bucks on this trash. If I have a cool skin it should be from killing something you greedy fs.

And no asmon / quin. We don't need to say positive things about everything. it is ABSOLUTELY possible for products to be completely downsides and negatives. stop being shills. you make money off games just for them existing. You can always find a positive cuz your bank account gets bigger no matter how ish it is. I don't have that luxury. I don't need to cope and see a silver lining when they try to shove ish down our throat and call it chocolate ice cream.

Get a refund. I did and I was like 65 or something. make up an excuse.

If you strip away the hype and the fear of missing out, there really isn't much left of the game. And with Blizzard giving exclusive cosmetics to people that gift Twitch subs, there's even more than the usual amount of astroturfing. In the meantime, I just can't find any compelling reason to actually sit down and play the game. It is not very good.

I am a huge Diablo fan but this game was clearly rushed through without being finished. There are so many bugs it is unreal. From the horse mount constantly clipping the environment to being randomly kicked out of NM dungeon groups, to the rubber banding and laggy towns to items and skills not working correctly, it just goes on and on. I participated in the closed beta about 6 months ago and many of these issues were reported and never fixed. They spent way way more time over marketing an unfinished product rather than focusing on a quality game. The lack of quality of life issues is just mind blowing.

    1. No group finder to play with people.
Game efficiency is heavily skewed towards being in a group but they make it so challenging to find people to play with.

    2. No world chat? Might as well be playing offline mode except with random disconnects that make me restart endgame dungeons.

    3. Poor town design. Need to run all over the place to salvage items, go to stash, go to occultist/ Hewlett-Packard etc. I don’t want to spend time walking around while people wait for me to get back into the dungeon.

    4. NO loot filter. I legit skip picking up items at times that might be good because there is so much crap and no way to easily look through it all.

    5. Tiny inventory space which already is full with gems makes the above even worse.

    6. Tiny stash with only 4 tabs. Like this game was designed for mobile players but I think Diablo immortal may even have more stash space. How are we supposed to try different builds or classes with no stash space? 7. No stash search for items. Despite stash being small, all of the items inside take up the same space and nothing looks unique so can’t ever find anything. Just a bunch of squares. 8. Excessive cooldown on house dismount. So many times I just want to mount a short distance and jump off but due to all the lag and bugs and excessive cooldowns I’m left mashing my keyboard and stuck on my house while monsters beat on me.

    9. No teleport to party member feature. This was removed from beta and have no idea why. Why do you think it is fun to have to ride that buggy mount to every single dungeon rather than just teleport to team location. At least put a waypoint near all the dungeons. 10. No map overlay. How does tabbing my solid map open every few seconds increase immersion? What a joke. Even the minimal in the corner is so small that I have to completely shift my gaze to it which breaks immersion but it’s too zoomed in to be helpful anyway. 11. Speaking of zoomed in. My god can you please take back the FOV?! The camera is so close to the character it is nausea inducing. No fought to make you see the cosmetics they charged you a ton of money for. 12. Skill tree and paragon maps also way way to zoomed in. It’s like the designed it for old people that can’t see well. But this makes it extremely hard to navigate. 13. The occultist defaults to showing all aspects instead of class aspects. It should be the reverse. Many of the design decisions are just devoid of logic. 14. No way to mark loot you want to keep. At end game, 99% of the loot is worthless so why in the burning bells would you make a mark junk feature? Again it should be the opposite. There should be a mark “save” feature so I can auto salvage the rest. 15. No sell all feature. Game needs this as well since gold is important. I could keep going on QOL but other issues need to be addressed. 16. The open world feels too repetitive and bland. I think this has a lot to do with the lack of monster diversity. 17. The itemization is terrible. Why even have normal, sacred or ancestral item tiers of the item level dictates how strong the item is in the first place? Why do I still get extremely low item level drops for pushing harder content? None of the unique names tied to items even mean anything. A regular staff is can be just as good as an archeon staff if item power rolls the same. 18. Defenses. What is armor in this game so godly and adding resistances doesn’t seem to do anything at all to help my survival. This is a real part of the game right here that makes it feel like a cheap nock off rather than a Diablo game.

    19. How does one push nightmare dungeons when all trash mobs one shot. I get the game wants you to focus on defense. But because of how monster availing works, even when building a character defensively, the damage done and damage taken feels way off.

    20. Class balance and build options for classes feel way way off. I would have liked to see more viable options for classes and for the different classes to be closer together in power. Rogue, Barb, and druid get auto vulnerable though a glyph, which is one of the few multipliers available and are subsequently destroying content with it. It allows for strong burst damage and causes sorc and necro to run after them in dungeons but necro is so slow and cant keep up.

On top of this the grind and risk and skill from leveling can be completely bypassed by getting power leveled 1-80 in literally in sitting of 4-6hrs which massively cheapens the game and makes investing your personal time into the game playing solo worthless. sometimes we drop several items on the ground and as the backpack is small we don’t want to pick everything up and in the other diablos I could hold the ALT and hover the mouse and have a visualization of the item on the ground without needing to grab it to decide to pick it up or not

when I watch a video I don’t know if the player is a hardcore player or not, when I go to my friends list to invite someone to join the group, I don’t know if the player is a hardcore player or not, if it were possible to play together, fine, but it’s not It’s possible so I need to know with an icon or other things if he’s playing in normal or hardcore, as was possible in other games of the franchise…

the very big interface that gets in the way mainly with huge names on the item floor, horrible for those who play on a larger screen and especially in 4k because you usually play close to the screen since you have no problem seeing pixels because it is in 4k (if you play in 4k super far from the screen you are throwing money away yes)

and I feel that the game is very focused on the experience of the console player and the PC being left aside , what I said above is just a lot of things , there are several others that bother me and that makes me think that it is because as a console player … I want to know when and if they are going to fix the game to make it pleasant for those who play on the pc and make the most of it and when are they going to start respecting the pc player who mainly made the game what it is today it is being spoiled by people not playing the game and all it has to offer. (I’m talking about the amateur devs involved)
The only thing that makes me think is that the company only listens to what’s easier to do, which will soon make the game fall by the wayside and forgotten like many who go down that path, if that’s not what you want, I’m just sorry , but unfortunately that’s what the game is currently making me feel
and I think that helped the bad score on metacritic
I don’t care about metacritic, I just want to play a well-made game and a game whose main objective is to farm and do repetitive things several times, it really needs to have an excellent quality of life because after a while the small problems become extremely big when the game is lacking in content… and we know that games with seasons tend to have a long period of lack of content after a short time of the beginning of each season…

The campaign is maybe a solid 6/10, if you just want to casually play it for 10-20h, go for it.

Now, the endgame is a real mess.

    - Online only, constant stuttering and freezes in towns, when entering/leaving the open world areas, it just feels terrible

    - Social interactions are pointless, you just meet to do a world event then leave, that's it, no world chat, no trade chat, nothing except a local chat that no one uses

    - PvP areas, fun with players of a similar level, which rarely happens, if another player is 5 levels below or above you, you stomp them or they stomp you, and that happens 90% of the time

    - Progression, during the campaign and up to level 50 it's fine, then it rapdily slows down to a tedious grind

    - Items, fine until around 50-55 when you will have good items for your build and then it's just min-maxing, without any real gameplay changing upgrades for felt ages or ever, 99.9% of the items will get instantly sold/scraped

    - Crafting, maybe a bit overwhelming for casual players who are unfamiliar with similar systems, but very restrictive for others

    - Currencies, mostly pointless as you will have massive amounts of them and very few items to use them on

    - Trading, sometimes you might find items that are good, but you can't use for your build or store them, let's sell them to other players?, yeah, nope, no auction house or anything that could reasonably facilitate trade between players

    - Content, you have a couple different variations of pretty much the same gameplay loop, get's stale fast

    - Downtime, there's just way too much of downtime in between, go travel to a dungeon for 2 min why???, just tp, want to do an event with other players, time to travel and wait, have to do errands in town? time to run around the whole town because everything you need is spread out, kill a mob group? time to move to the next one which takes the same or more time then killing it, did you miss something in the semi-maze dungeon? time to walk around and find it, ..

    - Mobs, mostly fine, some variety, mob group density is bad in dungeons

    - Bosses, forgettable, unchallenging and repetitive, world bosses are a joke as is the reward of killing them (which you only get once a week xd), campaign bosses which were fun aren't used in the endgame (with some exceptions)

    - Overall difficulty, if you use all the tools you have available somewhat efficiently then you will hardly struggle, you want a challenge? You can play dungeon at a much higher level then yourself to limit test, which mainly takes more time and makes it frustrating as a untimely sneeze will be your demise, loot is still bad and you earn less xp per hour

    - Game stability, handful of game crashes in my playthrough, ocassional stutter even in dungeons, forget about playing hardcore

    - Build variety, is very bad, you have a handful of options per class and that's pretty much it, and if you find a non-default build, good luck finding any uniques that might fit, because they don't exist

Well, I'll leave it at that.

tldr; If you don't own the game and want to play it for an extended period of time, forget about it. If you own the game, stop playing when it becomes tedious, because it will only get worse.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

Diablo is back, and taking no prisoners. The top-quality, lengthy campaign will be enough for some, while the endgame should prove a welcome obsession for others. [Issue#30, p.84]
