I'm enjoying it and look forward to what it will become with continued support. If you enjoy Fallout games then you won't be too put off with the occasional glitch or bug and if you don't then you were probably never going to buy it anyway.

Everything you love about the fallout franchise is killed in this game. This is the most frustrating game I have ever tried: the survival part is annoying and keeps you interrupting the few fun moments of the game and it gets even worse if you are in a party: "sorry I have to drink", "sorry I have to eat", "sorry I have to unload all my junk in my camp". The map is huge but without content, loot is also a joke becouse you find only junk, no matter where you are. Paid fast travel is the definitive insult to all the players becouse they basically stretched the few ideas they had on a huge low resolution and heavily bugged environment. Questing is also a nightmare becouse mobs are on random levels all around the map, so even if you follow the "story" (read on terminal/find stuff/try to figure out why the markers are pointing on random positions/repeat) you'll find yourself stuck in areas with mobs killing you way too fast.
Every inch of the game is filled with frustration: worst gaming experience of my life. If you want to waste your money, just flush 50 bucks in the toilet, film it and post it on youtube: you'll be satisfied with video views and you will have also saved 10 bucks. Bethesda, you'll never see me again on a day one. Never.

Of course it has bugs, of course it has problems, of course it still have things to improve a lot, but damn, it's fun! It's your usual Fallout experience with a new narrative system and the possibility to do things with friends, and take photos of everything. This game will become a 10/10 in some months, I'm sure, plus, you can find for under 25€ now, go and buy it ;)

i like that i can have a full battle perk build, and switch them out for crafting, farming, and other needs as i see fit.

it is no where near as brutal and punishing (until hardcore servers are released) as other survival titles. if playing survival has scared you off, this is the title to jump in and get your feet wet.

the bugs are pretty typical of an mmo upon release, you may wish to wait a month or two before purchase for those to be ironed out.

lastly, i recommend any of the free build helpers to help you plan your s.p.e.c.i.a.l. points, so you dont waste time on a poor build.

It hurts so bad to see the how the latest game of the franchise i've known and loved has been so mistreated. It is unfinished, rushed, lacks content, lacks story and has a ton of upseting bugs. I've asked for refund already. Just hope better for the elder scrolls franchise.

This game doesn’t deserve all the trash it’s been getting , it’s certainly not a perfect game but it’s far from terrible , yes there are a few bugs but what game doesn’t have bugs at launch.
This games map is huge and is full of new locations and a whole host of new enemies and lore.
The game is challenging yet very forgiving in the sense that you’re not punished too hard for not eating

It’s been said many times but this game is insanely fun when playing with friends , and the PvP aspect of it is also quite enjoyable.

I'm a huge Fallout fan but when the game crashes, is super slow at points and out of the blue your entire camp with turrets, generators etc all disappear forever it puts you off playing and wish you didn't pay the full price for the game.

Oh also Bethesda now say you can't get a refund, so stuck with a poorly written/developed game.

    5: average/mediocre/playable
    4: bad
    3: very bad
    2: terrible
    1: unacceptable/unplayable
    0: malware

    Stability/Bugs:
Fallout 76 is full of bugs that affect your gameplay.
Enemies just spawn around you, teleport around, move at ridiculous speeds, ...
Players are being severely punished for unstable servers.
The game's networking system allegedly opens the floodgates for cheaters and hackers and is therefore potentially harming.

    The Story:
There is no proper story, human NPCs are completely missing without explanation.
    The story contradicts the plot.
The start of the game is uninspired and has no logic at all.
The most common enemy, the scorched, have a very contradictory backstory.

    Gameplay Design:
When starting the game, it sometimes spawns you in the middle of a nuclear explosion, surrounded by enemies, in the middle of an irradiated river or in other problematic positions.
It also very often just removes your house from the game, apparently because "something" was in the same spot on that particular server.
You can't place buildings where they were before, because placement by building parts and placement by blueprint have different placement constraints.
In certain areas enemies just respawn within seconds.
Sometimes enemies' corpses just disappear within seconds before anyone can loot them, despite the game having a mechanic that preserves corpses for looting.
Playing together (which is the base idea of the game) is made difficult when player's levels differ.
If you have 2 lvl20 players in your party and 1 lvl40 player, the game will spawn tons of lvl40 enemies on events and quests, which lvl20 players will have a hard time fighting against and won't be rewarded appropriately either.
PvP is made hard to pull off, puts attackers on a disadvantage, serves no purpose and raises the question if it would even benefit the game if it was patched to actually work.
Except for a bunch of voice recordings and a variety of mostly very common MMO quests, the world has no substantial reason to be visited.
The leveling system, espcially the perk cards, is very bad:
Through the franchise it went from "design a very special/specific person, and then keep them alive as they develop as a character" to "shuffle cards to find out what you're able to do" with a severe disconnect between the character's abilities from who they are - since the player character themselves has no personality.

    Level/Map Design:
The world map was clearly rushed out, since there are quite a lot of random objects floating high in the sky which were probably not cleaned up properly (which usually happens when the creator is in a hurry).

    Graphics:
Alpha-textures flicker for a while occasionally.
Godrays sometimes come out of the ground.
Shadows sometimes follow the player's point of view, instead of actual light sources.
Depth of field can't be turned off, sometimes causes unsharpness to occur in the middle of the screen and occasionally misses out a mode-switch which causes you to see the world in the blurry DoF, that you see at the borders of your scope, while not using your scope.
The game sometimes destabilizes and loads low-LOD objects instead of high-LOD objects.

    Recommendation:
I highly recommend to put this game into re-development.
It is riddled with bugs, has a contradicting uninteresting story and suffers from very poor gameplay design decisions. Comparing this game with the rest of the installments of the franchise a purely Co-Op based Online functionality would have been better to bring players together. PvP could still happen through a separate optional system (such as signing up for it at an arena). The start of the game could have been staged as a dire struggle for survival of the (actually alive and mostly computer controlled) population of Vault 76 as they open the doors (together!) for the first time with story/quest initiators like missile silos or the nuclear power plants Co-Op players could for example take control over an NPC they created themselves, who is one of the vault dwellers. Knowing that this game is probably too big of a failure and the old storytelling method is just that: old, I recommend a reboot with said changes, that puts effort into proper dramaturgy.

The lack of any coherent story and the clunky controls in both combat and camp creation leaves nothing else to praise. The graphics are, as expected of Bethesda, outdated. While it runs fine on my overpriced system it is nothing to be happy about. Because this is an online only game, extensive mods that would likely fix or mask over the glaring issues mentioned before would be impossible. The fact that bugs from the inception of the 'Creation engine' are still present is baffling. Apparently the game physics being tied to the fps was patched the first day, and if so, it must've been a simple fix; why was this not fixed in earlier Bethesda titles then? I haven't had many game breaking bugs but have disconnected multiple times, losing progress each time. Overall this game is a disappointment and is definitely not worth even $20 at this time. I was expecting a Borderlands like experience which would've been fantastic. The backlash wouldn't have been so bad if it were a DLC for Fallout 4, though I understand that technical limitations make this impossible. I will see in a few years if this project will be fleshed out and improved or prematurely abandoned like Fallout 4. Looking forward, I have very low expectations of Bethesda's future releases. Expand

The game doesn't even have a solid F*&^ing story. It's just read this and that and listen to the F^&&^ing audio files, this piss poor attempt at a story reminds me of Destiny in 2016. Seriously disappointed at Bethesda for absolutely exploiting the Fallout franchise. The actual story doesn't make sense either. It doesn't match with the lore.

The game is borderline broken. There are so many bugs and glitches it's not even funny and just pathetic. The engine is outdated and should just be poot down out of its misery. They should have just created a new engine for this game. The servers are just ****.

In conclusion, don't even think about buying this game, it's an F&^%ing tragedy and should be cancelled from Fallout Lore. Not a Fallout game. - TGV

The next worst part is that the respawn puts you FAR away from your 'Last Death' and often drops you into an unsurvivable situation with Supermutants, etc. No way back! Aaaarrrggghhh! The third worst feature is that there is absolutely nothing and no one to care about in the story. This is because it is all told through holotapes that are almost impossible to listen to without being attacked and killed by the Scorched ot Supermutants or, or, or. Infuriating! There are also notes that are illegible (I have better than 20-20 vision) sitting 12 feet from my 70" screen and no way to zoom in on them. Moronic!

I see a lot of phony reviews both positive and negative, so I'm gonna give my best shot at a fair objective review.

Lets start with the limited positives:
    - Huge map (this probably the only impressive part of the game)
    - decent survival mechanics
They won't amaze you, but they are fairly deep while not being too obnoxious
    - Group Objectives are fairly well done
Perhaps the only actual content worth playing, sadly they are usually fairly tough to complete solo meaning solo players completely miss out on the only content worth playing.
    - Nice environments
A few places on the map are really nice.

    Negatives:
    - No reason to do anything (really, there is just no point)
    - Holotapes, Holotapes, and did I mention...Holotapes
Whoever thought tape recordings were an adequate replacement for NPCs should be fired. Its soulless and tiresome. It defeats the point in tracking down Suzie when you know all that is gonna be there is her corpse with a tape next to it.
    - Servers have very few players on them
For a game that focuses on multiplayer there are very few multiplayer interactions. Largely because there are only like 3-5 players on a server at the same time and often their levels aren't even close so they have no reason to play together
    - Slow progression
And I mean painfully slow, It definitely feels slower than single player Fallouts. Its clear that rather than give us actual content, Bethesda decided to drag what little content there is out as much as possible. But its not fun, and It makes it nearly impossible to catch up to your higher level friends; which kills the multiplayer angle. Either they are stuck in low level areas not having fun, or you get dragged into high level areas where you still don't level very fast and struggle constantly.
    - Laggy servers
    - Tons of bugs
    - Frame rate drops constantly, and often for no reason; sometimes down to an absolute crawl.
I think you get better frame rates watching a flipbook set in motion than this game.
    - V.A.T.S
Idk why they bothered trying to keep it, might as well have just removed it for this installment. Its ultimately fairly useless in anything except pvp.
    -PvP
Should be a positive, but its executed so poorly its relegated to the negatives. For those that don't know, both players have to to consent to pvp via shooting each other once but the player who fires first is at an extreme disadvantage. From what I can tell, nobody even bothers trying to pvp because there are no rewards or incentives and its not even competitively fair. Aside from that one guy who is level 40 trying to goad level 5s into pvping with him.

    Conclusion:
Fallout 76 does a couple of things right and a whole lot of things wrong. While there are certainly some nice environments and moments you can enjoy; most of the time they are ruined by lag, bugs, or the overwhelming feelings of pointlessness. Its a multiplayer game that you spend most of your time alone and lonely in without any writing or story driven narrative to follow to motivate you to progress. I'm honestly not sure who enjoys this game, but I'm guessing not many people do. Its not a good single player experience, its not a good co-op experience, its not a good pvp experience. Its just a game that tries to do everything and excels at nothing.

I am giving it a 3/10 because it does have a few things that can be appreciated and I feel somewhat generous at that score.

First, this is not a Fallout game. The game is okay, not bad, but not great, however when you choose to make an okay game and then laud it as the next Fallout, you're going to have issues. The graphics are okay, the game play is okay sometimes and poor at others (lag is a major factor here, with some mobs hitting you once or twice after you've killed them and others not being hit at all). This game feels rushed and still in the alpha stage (not really even beta) and that's the other issue. THERE ARE NO NPCS OTHER THAN ROBOTS! And I put that in Caps because that's a serious thing to me. Fallout was about an immersive post apocalyptic world where the people you met were as important as the destinations. This was missed by Bethesda. I think what happened is you got a bunch of young designers that love PUBG and Fortnite and decided they were going to make a Fallout based on those games. Again major fail and the game deserves the ratings it's gotten. Expand

But then, you produce this. hype it up beyond belief, charge so much and for the menstrual gush that fallout seventy crap is.

Even Video game companies are getting in on your hype.

GAME invested in this double decker bus with an advertisement of the worst game since No Mans Sky launch game not No Mans Sky NEXT.

How is it wrong? Simple you listened to the wrong people and this is where it gotcha a FALLOUT 4.5

    Major updates:

    Few more enemies (WHOOPEE DOO)

1 new power Armour (WOW - I feel so warm inside)

CO-OP playability (There is no sarcasm here... good job Bethesda, but you balls that up too)

4 times bigger map (really, is that your biggest headliner,oh no wait)

You can now use nuke codes ( And? so... ah, this is the headliner)

someone used 3 at once and killed a server - give an idiot a handgun and well.... look what ya did.

thas it, Kapuut, thas all she wrote...

oh no, you can now build anywhere ( You had a building system in place and what did you do... ya screwed the pooch)

    DONT FORGET PEOPLE:

These are the editions you can get your copy of Fallout Seventy crap

    Normal
Tri (I don’t care anymore) centennial
A Helmet (to pay this amount for this level of TURD, you must be an idiot)
A PIPBOY you have to build (kill me now, what think tank thought... let’s get the idiots, I mean consumers have to build a 146 piece heap a balls)

    So in further detail:

    1. Old Engine used
Fallout Seventy Crap utilises the “CREATION ENGINE”... forget about the bits and what it does, we all know what it does.

The Creation Engine has been around since the PS3 (wait, what?)... The latest character creation tool Creation Engine is an updated heap a programming ass compared to the previous incarnation Gamebryo.

You have not brought anything to the table that engages the consumer, you say the graphics and the new engine delivers more detail...really, have you seen how crap it looks on a 4k TV with a PS4 Pro... I have more detail in the turd that’s still clinging on to my rectum.

    2. Lazy programming

Have you played your game? In the last 6 days my wife and I have given you 7 days worth of patience, 72 hours of gaming in the last week. My wife, being new to gaming... she was my wingman on Fallout 4 Awesome... now she wishes I get rabies and my balls fester in a corner due to the fact that she has been infected with playing such a horrendous game. 3. No NPC story telling Fallout 3 and 4 had immense and immersive storytelling, the quests and side quests were superb, the engagement and satisfaction from having “Cogsworth” “Nick Valentine” Paladin Danse”... so many stories. what do we have in Fallout Seventy Crap: Notes, Robot and Holotapes (Wow, really...the level of sarcasm is nuclear level....just wow, I bet you spent thousands working on such guph) 4. Graphic detailing poor at best As previously stated, walk up to a wall and check out the Atari 2600 detail of a wall or a piece of wood. Wow... I thought playing a DOS game was poor 5. Someone’s getting released from their job Over the last 6 days your share price has dropped, your position in the video game industry as a pinnacle of what is right and great in the video game industry has been rocked... by no one else but your own laziness. My wife told me to give you inspiration, to facilitate building you back up... I have as many gamer has invested in the tercentennial and for what...... a blister on the face of gaming humanity “Fallout Seventy Crap” You should have hit the ground running with the success of Fallout 4 Awesome. If Fallout 5 was going to take until PS5, people would have waited, and that’s what you don’t get... gamers will wait, if the game or brand is good enough. Instead... you deliver a un finished travesty. The fact that it does not offer the game play or experience by which it was advertised. No you are in no way shape or form in the position of No Mans Sky, but you have pushed so many gamers away by producing such poop. Who ever pointed the direction of Fallout Seventy Crap to go in “Sack them”, Their vision was blurred by their own vanity believing they were more than what they are. Should have stayed true to a single player game than to go multi player and suffer the slings and arrows of such degradation. Me P.s: I take no joy in what I have written, but this gift that I bought that was Fallout Seventy Crap...was an early Christmas present and the bulk of 8 weeks of saving my money so that she could play the tricentennial. you have failed us

Every mmo has human npcs/enemies and not a single person was ever confused. The real reasoning was simple, to save a few dollars to hack out this turd and add the fallout name. Im not surprised that Fallout 76 got a 50% discount already after only being out for a week. At this rate it will become free to play which is quite disappointing. Really? The people who are complaining amaze me. Yes, an online game has to be online to be played... it's not rocket science, just about every single game I have played in the past 5 years has to be online... it's not a new thing.

My only complaint is the server side lag here and there and how sometimes it is hard to connect to the server initially.

The game has so much interesting stuff to do especially with other "Humans" I don't honestly care about there not being as large of a main linear story line anyways. Best fallout I have ever played, given I have been wanting a co-op feature since 3 came out. No one deceived you though, I've been hearing people cry since they announced it about it not being so story oriented so it should have been public knowledge this is not your typical fallout. This is something new, which you don't see very often in the gaming world.

Its about making your own story and having an online multi-player experience. Just because someone doesn't tell you how to play the game doesn't make it less of a game. One of my favorite games, Killing Floor 1 and 2, never had a story mode of any kind. Story line heavy games will always have too much linear progression to really be a true experience of free will and choice anyways, this has been my largest complaint with the cookie cutter MMO scene. I have been waiting for a fresh multi-player world that is actually interesting to just explore and have fun with friends or strangers. This game delivered so much of what I have been looking for, for years.

Not to mention tons of improvements to the crafting system over fallout 4 as well as bringing back the best elements from the hardcore mode of new vegas and bringing back weapon degrade but with a better method of weapon repair over the old fallout games. Perks are now down with cards so you can rebuild your perk tree later on if you don't like the path you took, over all nothing but improvements to the core game play.

I was worried about it since elder scrolls online was so bad and just a cookie cutter MMO, and normally Bethesda sort of just copies their elder scrolls games to fallout instead of fallout getting it's own things, but this was an original idea that would have HUGE blow back from people who just want to play the same thing over and over and was a giant risk that I am even surprised they took it. I am glad they did. Even if all the people crying makes them never release such a game again at least I have the multi-player game I have been wanting for years, at least until the cry babies get the servers shut down.

If you wanted a single player storyline driven game, you should not have bought Fallout 76. It is basically a new flavor of multi-player game that is driven around player to player interaction with survival and loot type game play in the Fallout Universe.

As a Bethesda fan who followed them since Oblivion; First off let me just say I am completely appalled that Bethesda thought this was okay. Especially after that "save single-player" video stunt they pulled last year.

Fallout 76 is Bethesda: Buggy, crooked, and most of all a slap in the face to fans who supported them throughout the years. Bad view distance rendering, etc. And all the hallmarks that made Bethesda thrown out the window.

i could do a whole rant about Fallout 76. But honestly it's been beaten to death. By fans and critics

So why the 5 out of 10? Well from a Survival gamer point of view. Sadly among this wreckage it's still pretty damn ultra terrible. But! It's your typical survival game. Set in the Fallout universe. Another game cashing in on an otherwise somewhat forgotten genre. Survival Games.

if you look past the crap that is Fallout 76 and what could've been. It's an average survival game. Now some might and WILL say: "But uh. Those survival games are polished, etc." and that is true. However like some of those survival games. There isn't really any story or npcs. But you, enemy npcs, and other players trying to survival on a gigantic map.

You can build your own base, set up jobs for each of your teammates, do challenges, complete quests, etc. Essentially this is literally a post-apocalyptic survival simulator with the name Fallout slapped on it to bring more attention and all of that dollar cheddar.

Do i recommend this game? Hell no. Play any other game BESIDES Fallout 76. But! If your a survival gamer enthusiast (and it's your money btw) then if you wait till this game goes on sale for a decent price then it may be worth it. It comes down to what Bethesda does post-launch really.

    5. They implemented a store for microtransactions that works better than the rest of the game. That tells you how much they cared about the main game.
    6. They tried to pull a Final Fantasy 14 or Street Fighter V by releasing a game that is not even finished.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm shocked at the number of low ratings that many reviewers are giving this game, are we even talking about the same game here??? Because my experience has been much more enjoyable that what most claim judging by the number of really poor reviews.

At any rate, I personally love Fallout 76. I pre-ordered, played BETA and have 40+ hours since launch. I haven't had this much fun with a pc game since Fallout 4. Sure it has a few bugs, but nothing that's a show stopper. IMO, this game was developed using Agile Methodology, delivered as an MVP, and not a fully finished product; which is standard practice these days with software development and not the exception. That being said, it's still an incredible fun game to play with a lot of depth and freedom to roam.

The map is MASSIVE. I was surprised at how seldom I bump into other players, and most are cordial, if not helpful. You can play this game solo or team up with your friends or occasionally the other player(s) you might meet along the way. You can spend the first several hours (or don't) chasing around a series of holotapes left behind like a trail of breadcrumbs from the Vault 76's Overseer. Along the way you’ll find several holotapes from other survivor groups that didn't make it, e.g., the responders, fire-breathers, raiders, and many more. There's no shortage of left behind robots and computers that can provide you with missions. One in particular is Rose, a nannybot-turned-raider. Sure, she's not a NPC like Curie from F04, but still enjoyable with the darker humor I would expect from the Fallout series.

This is a survival game, with several metrics you must monitor in order to stay alive. It does require a different playing style than what you’d typically expect from FPS and/or RPG. You must be more conservative with your ammo or scrounge around looting and scrapping to make more bullets and repair your weapons after nearly every conflict. Leveling up does require a fair amount of grinding, if that’s what you want to do. 76 also introduces new creatures that make the dreaded Deathclaw look tame.

Many reviewers have complained about a lack of story, that it's boring, no "Human" NPCs, etc. But I strongly disagree, it has plenty of stories scattered all over the Appalachian wasteland. True, you won't find another living "human" NPC character, and I'm good with that because it fits this story.

Understand that you are emerging from the safety of your vault for the first time into a post-apocalyptic world, and to your horror, you discover that all human survivors (non-vault dwellers) are either mutated into the Scorched or dead. It is a lonely, radiated world after all.

I'd give this game an 8/10, however, and since there are so many 0/10's, I'm giving it a 10 here to offset all the zeros. The game is not for everyone and more buggy on some platforms than others, but I think many of these extremely low reviews are disingenuous and unfair.

They screwed us with ESO and now they are sinking further with 76. I'm guilty of following the advice of a few SELLOUT reviewers who said that FO76 was good, and I bought two seats for me and one kid... There's $120 wasted. No wonder Bethesda did't allow this crap on Steam...they have some kind of return policy! I'll never trust Bethesda, or the YT community at large...ever again.

Another word of caution, however, is that the lack of NPC's or a more-traditional campaign storyline might be an impassable barrier for some. For my money, the storytelling, while different, is actually a step up from some of Bethesda's previous efforts when it comes to the quality of the writing. If anything positive emerges out of the backlash this game has been receiving, it will be that Bethesda has a change of heart about including NPC's. Expand

Full disclosure: I did my research, wasn't gonna buy it, but Bethesda stuck this in EVERY console bundle deal in my region yesterday (black friday), so buying a second PS4 (I have a 7 month secondment across the country coming up and kids at home who would be pretty agro if I took their PS4 with me), meant I had to get this game. It came with Spiderman and Lego Batman also part of the deal, and considering the price and competition I'm pretty sure Bethesda gave it away.

Like I say, I wasn't planning to buy it, but now owning it, and after a family sesh of spiderman last night, I felt I had to see what all the fuss was about. I've seen a lot of people saying they're having fun with this game, and I heard most of the bugs were on PC, so I was kinda thinking everyone was over reacting and the PS4 version would really be okay. I've put 3.5 hours in at this point, and .. yeah it's the worst AAA game I've played, hands down. If I payed real money for this, I'd be angry - I'm even annoyed that it came with the bundle TBH. I want to give it 1/10, because it really is a joke of a $60 game, but I'll leave it as a 2/10 on the assumption they fix the bugs.

To be clear, this game will be really boring I think even once they fix the bugs. I would place it around the level of no man's sky in terms of things to do, meaning you try make your own fun. On the topic of bugs, no it's not just PC, yes they are that numerous, yes it is utterly ridiculous for what's supposed to be a AAA game. Most common ones for me are graphics errors where things are not loading or popping in, atrocious frame rate (even though there's sometimes not that many things visible and the ones that are look like assets from a 10 year old game, the framerate will still noticeably slow down), some animation errors where they seemingly don't load the next animation or skip one, and, of course physics bugs. It's not AS bad as what I've seen people saying the PC one is, but it is totally unacceptable. You think; this came with Spiderman which is supposed to be it's equal in terms of price and quality and this game just feels like a cruddy indiegogo game built with fan-made fallout assets next to a polished, quality product.

As for the game play... there's nothing "wrong" with it, there just isn't really any. You get a list of chores, you do a list of chores, you get bored and see if anyone else is about to play with but they're all bored too.. If bethesday don't do something fast (meaning about a year of development in a month) it seems inevitable that the active player numbers will drop below sustainable by christmas.

Don't buy this game, and if it came free with your console, don't waste your time playing it until it gets the development it needs.

Its a buggy crash heavy mess that needs some serious content patches and bug fixes before I could recommend it to anyone.

Why do the creator's of this game show such frequent contempt for their audience? Was the quest designed to never complete? Was it just bugged?
Was the quest symbolic of the pointlessness of life's meaningless tasks?
Did the game cause me to experience some odd emotional breakthrough?

I dont know the last time I genuinely enjoyed a Bethesda Game. I have little faith I will again, and that hurts because I used to hold the company in very high regards. Skyrim? Vanilla bland version of Oblivion. Fallout 4? Fallout for dummies and little to no world design. Doom 2016? Instead of a fast paced fps run and gun you have lots of meaningless, boring, tedious acrobatics, and a game that in general just overstays its welcome.
Im getting off topic though, back to 76.
Now with 76 we have... Nothing. A decent co-op time for sure, but no NPC's, no reason to explore, no uniqueness left in the game whatsoever. The enemy designs are among the best the series has ever had-- I'll give it that. Thats the most I can say, though. Its fallout 4 but with even LESS to do, less content, a larger, more barren map, and a restricted highly limited building system compared to 4's.
This would also be a good time to mention I have ~70 hours in 76, I have played the game extensively since launch. And I understand all the hate. Look at a game like Fallout 3, over a decade old, and holds up better than Fallout 4 or 76 ever will. The game had an actual WORLD. Vivid and practically alive locations and residents, each person was an actual individual, there was something to do at every location and town. 76 is so lifeless its embarrassing Bethesda even /thought/ of this game.

Fallout 76 has next to nothing to offer outside of some fun co-op moments with friends. The entire game is a bland, lifeless experience, and is hardly worth playing. Bethesda is a ghost of who they once were and I doubt they'll ever be back to their golden days. Each game they pump out s just mediocrity after mediocrity. Bethesda is dead.

The multiplayer makes the game for me if it wasn't there it would be garbage. Also the leveling system is pretty good. The card system for perks works rather well and it is a good idea to plan your build ahead. This game doesn't deserve the crap it's getting. It may be buggy, but it's less so than even New Vegas and 4 were on launch. I have legitimately bought two copies of this game, to play with both Ps4 and PC friends. (Even then, a good 30% of my time has been spent playing solo, which I actually prefer!) This game has immersion in spades. There is so much attention to detail and the way this game delivers environmental or holotape story to enjoy on your own terms is the ONLY way this could ever work. They are letting you enjoy the story at your own pace, when you are in the mood for it. The survival elements are light, the questing and events are worlds better than MMOs. The enemy variety HAS NEVER BEEN THIS GOOD. This game has variety in weapons/mods, even food and cosmetic clothing in spades, and on launch offers outfits that let you look how you want while wearing the best armor you can find. Just about all of these only way 0.1 pounds!

What did we really lose? Fallout 4's dialog options were terrible! 3's honestly weren't that much better. And New Vegas was a different developer. Even though we've lost the ability to pick dialog options and the leveling system is a far cry from the original fallout, the perk system has SOOOOO much potential for easy upgrading and re-balancing with the best build potential Fallout has ever had. Fallout 76's story feels like you are picking through what remains of a post-nuclear world, and the devs have focused on what they're good at. Environmental storytelling. Every random robot NPC has so much charm and character, from story-reading nanny bots sprinkling advertisements for Robo-Co into her Hansel and Gretel story, walking advertisements showing up behind you to tell you that "YOU'VE WON," giving you anything from 100 Post world money, to pointless vouchers with random text, or junk. These are the random encounters!

This game has a lot of factions ranging from known to brand new and very believable factions, with one of my easily favorite stories comes from the equivalent of a Comic Book Hero faction. I won't spoil anything more than keep an eye out for dead ladies in nice black dresses.

Just, try it. Hit level 10-15, get your hands on a pump-action shotgun that reloads just the number of slugs you've used from your clip. (Looking at you New Vegas.) This game gets more and more satisfying the more you play it, with exponentially more amazing perks from the 20s, to 30s, and then 40s.

The game It feels almost like Bethesda have conned everybody out of their money, as this has a price tag of a triple A game & it is far from it almost worse than a E game if there was such a rating.
The price tag should be no more than $12 USA dollars.

Bethesda was asked many times in the past within blogs and forums requesting they make a Fallout game that was immersive as Fallout 4 and previous games but was just co-op, only with friends etc.

The multiplayer game route option they have took is terrible' glitches everywhere server kicks regular and game crashes way too much. This game has destroyed the Franchise and Bethesda should be ashamed of this half effort of a game!

No going back I suppose for them now, as the baseline game has been made almost it seems with the same engine yet worse outdated and so broken even with a 48GB fix it still plays boring and uninteresting with way to many features broken and missing.
If only they had listened to the community in the first place ''Single Player Only' OR ''Co-Op only''

Bought first day for 60€ to enjoy bugs and several kicks from server and crushes just to see it at 36€ discounted on several sites barely a week later.
It should be a free multiplayer feature for fallout 4.
    What is Bethesda thinking?

When Bethesda will have understood that we love Fallout for its choices, its NPC and its sandbox, and not THAT for his gameplay, They will have all understood

I've been a fan since day 1 of Bethesda. I do totally enjoy Conan Exiles (which people yell at it is unfinished and buggy as well), BUT Bethesda can do more. This feels like a early mod. Yes the world is huge, and while reading some information here and there it sadly is the only way of storytelling. This in addition to an aged engine and even more bugs than usual. Worst game of the year, especially for one of the last gaming bastions.

Having put some time into Fallout 76, I can say that it is not an enjoyable experience, for me at least. There are a number of reasons for why I don't enjoy this game, so I suppose I'll start with the lesser reasons and move on from there.

Having put some time into Fallout 76, I can say that it is not an enjoyable experience, for me at least. There are a number of reasons for why I don't enjoy this game, so I suppose I'll start with the lesser reasons and move on from there.

Fallout 76 doesn't feel like Fallout. I have put 168 hours into Fallout 4, which was by the way my first Fallout game, and loved every second of time I put into that. I came into Fallout 76 expecting a similar game, but one that had enough differences that it would feel new and fresh. Sadly I was left disappointed. The world feels recycled, the quests feel meaningless and the gameplay feels generally boring and more of a chore than a fun time.

I'll start with explaining how quests work. Basically, you're gonna be getting quests through a few different means, be it through a robot, a holotape or a note left by a long diseased character. But the reason I kept coming back to Fallout 4 and Skyrim is because of what the quest has to offer and how the quest offers it. Quests felt good to complete because they made it feel like you were helping someone, or having an effect on the world. Unfortunately, because there simply isn't any NPC human in this game, it feels like you are just running errands for robots or long gone characters, and it feels as if it has no effect on the world at all.

Next, the world itself. Fallout 76 feels like a recycled version of Fallout 4, with some multiplayer sprinkled in for something "new". Every location I have visited in Fallout 76 felt like it had already been seen in Fallout 4. Even the distinct different parts of the map felt as if I had seen it before. Basically, Fallout 76's world just feels like Fallout 4, with real players rather than NPC's.

Finally, the gameplay. Fallout 76 has nothing new to offer in the sense of gameplay other than the fact you can play with friends. Everything I have done in Fallout 76 felt boring. Exploring felt boring. Doing quests felt boring. Building a base was a bit or fun for a while but eventually felt boring. I did get a chance to play it for about an hour with a mate, and even that still felt repetitive and boring. The only way I can see anyone enjoying this game is through setting yourself your own goals, which is what games like this exist for. But when you feel as if the only way you can enjoy this game is by doing your own thing and ignoring the story/ side quests, the gameplay gets repetitive and boring really really quickly.

Fallout 76 feels more like a chore to play. The only reason I have given it a 4/10 is because I did have some good fun in the first 4-ish hours I played it, but after that it just felt like I'd seen everything. I wanted to like this game, I really did, but it has let me down.

Out of all the games I have played, this one has disappointed me the most.

After a week of playing I can see an ambitious title changing the formula to online and while I do have fun with friends my solo play however was not and this is due to how lifeless the game is in the long run with Bethesda omitting NPC's from the game leaving boring robots in its place doesn't give the unique charm Fallout did have years ago. It also doesn't help for a 2018 game this game runs horribly on all platforms thanks to Bethesda's insistence to use an outdated game engine which in all honesty give unique landscapes technically making this the best looking Fallout isn't saying much when recent releases of Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2 are pushing boundries to keep gaming interesting which Bethesda are struggling to do, while I found some positives wait for a price drop or buy a better game I'll do an edit when the game has managed to fully patched itself. It is now obvious the reason they chose to do loads of live action trailers is because they couldn't keep the game working long enough to record an in game trailer.

Ok, well... I really enjoy multiplayer, max grinding, survival horror and fallout in general so i think this game is fantastic the best of both worlds, i would highly recommend playing it if your into that sorta game.. however if you like single player with a captivating story i would pass on this one. It would have been soo much better for everyone if there was a offline story option.Ok, well... Having jumped right into F76 like I have with the whole franchise, F76 stands up there with player outrage like its distant cousin Fallout Tactics - Brotherhood of Steel. And whilst Bethesda have some work to do ironing out the player base grievances, Bethesda's foray into the survivalist MMO genre is, for me and my friends not as bad as many make it out to be.

    What it gets right:

And whilst Bethesda have some work to do ironing out the player base grievances, Bethesda's foray into the survivalist MMO genre is, for me and my friends not as bad as many make it out to be.

    What it gets right:
Playing with friends is easy - real easy. Team up, hunt down and kill them Scorch beasts or wanted players.
Base building is just as enjoyable as it was in F4 (yes that had some frustrating placement issues too)
Large open world with different and great looking biomes. Some of the places look beautiful and atmospheric.
Crafting. Like all Fallout games collect, collect and collect and then hope you have Adhesive - (not for the short attention span folk, that's for sure). Its a junk/equipment management balance, but when has a Fallout game not been?
PERKS. A great little system. swap cards in and out and even with boost friends with your cards.
Holo Tapes. If you actually listen to the tapes there is some great stuff to be heard.

    Whats in the middle?
Combat, not much has changed since F3. V.A.T.S now requires some skill, yes I said it. Real-time action V.A.T.S control can be honed to a deadly art with the right PERKS, but combat is still sluggish and movement "gluidy".
Quests - The dailies are fun and there are many to choose from. Random quests will also pop up after discovering a location or encountering a creature. But basically they have gone bare minimum here, basic fetch/kill quests when it boils down to it.

    What it gets wrong:
Servers - The world you are in is not that persistent, you cant have rivalries unless you make them your friends and then that would mute the point of rivalries. You get disconnected and that daily or pop up quest you were on is gone.
No Human NPCs - I think that was a mistake.
Main quest is weak and not very rewarding thus far.

F76 tries to please both sides of the gamer fence - and that lets F76 down. A full hardcore style like RUST would open the game up to a larger audience, but loose the Fallout playerbase, but the "soft" approach of Bethesda have taken with the MMO survivalist genre makes it little hollow in places. But there is room for improvement, and with regular updates and content F76 will be a game I keep playing.

    Thanks for NOTHING, Bethesda!
I have bought the Fallout 76 Tricentennial Edition for PS4, which does not even support 4k (Fallout 4 already supported 4k upscaling, and a newly launched game does not? (Facepalm!)

Up to now, I was always satisfied with all the Bethesda games I had purchased (all top quality games!!), and now this??? Is this how you reward your loyal customers? This is truly disappointing.
Fix the bugs or give me my money back!!!

So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
