    Disappointing end to the series.

Campaign is not worthy of the Modern Warfare series, Modern Warfare 2 and COD4 had much better campaigns.

    Maybe next time, Activision.

I think I've played this before...Oh yes, I've played this 3 times before this. They keep putting the same game over and over again claiming that they've changed things. Since Modern Warfare, which was groundbreaking, they just released the same game and decided to charge $60 for it. I think Activision has beat another horse to death.

The gaming industry is more and more ripping of consumers by simply re-skinning games instead of making new ones. When will devlopers actually develop new engines? Do we have to wait till the next generation of consoles?

How much work went into the making of MW3, in comparison to say COD4? MW3 uses the same map objects (such as the busses, the tanks) as seen in COD4. These objects exist in Activision library - map creation for them is simply a drag-and-drop. It's not creation.

The graphics, the gameplay, the engine... everything is the same. How much of MW3 is actually different or original? 20% perhaps?

I'm asking everyone on metacritic, for the sake of future game development, to score this game low & send a message to the gaming industy, LOUD & CLEAR that we WILL NOT ACCEPT re-hashed, re-skin products.

If you want to reap the profits, but in the work. Develop game play, develop the engine, improve the graphics... don't patronise your own customers by changing the maps and retailing the game at premium price.

All the negative reviewers are angry the game didnt get completely changed, would have been equally as angry if they had completely changed the game.

The different soldier types adds an interesting twist making the player have to change his strategy up each wave, unlike zombies where you just ran around the map leading them to a place where you could shoot them all. This is definately the best COD ever. All the people who have rated under 7 are just anti-gaming groups who have all rated the game without playing it to try and lower sales. Better visuals, better multiplayer, better scenarios, all make this the best COD ever, and one of the top 5 games on the system.

The new addition to the CoD franchise is worth a full 10. MW3, while having a low user score from Battlefield 3 lovers and people looking for something else. The all new game modes bring an exciting feel to the game, and the all new weapon system is to die for. The critic reviews are 100 percent accurate. This game is the best yet in the call of duty series.

Great game the online is one of the best of the COD series as there are limited spots for campers, i do feel they need a few more open maps where you can actually use the sniper effectively. The campaign is also good but a bit short. The survival mode is also a good new addition which is fun to play with mates.

Great game, yes it hasn't changed much since MW2 but their is only one reason for this... Because MW2 was one of the best games ever. Uncharted 3 is pretty much the same as Uncharted 2 yet it gets incredible reviews and thats because you cant improve on perfection sometimes people. This is the same for MW3, they couldn't really improve it from MW2 more than they have.

I don't really understand what the big fuss is about. Everybody knew that this game was going to be the same as MW3 but still got it and say "it's the same game." If you guys want something different go buy Battlefield. But, if your a CoD fan you definitely got to get this game. Like I said they don't do anything different from MW2 but if you like MW2 that's a good thing.

Ok now that i have adressed the trolls i can get on with my review, as always i have to force myself to play the COD campaign since they all feel stale dispite the amazing visuals and gunfights but anyone who buys this game for the story is pretty dumb because it is only like 4-5 hours long but fourtunatly there is so many other things to do. The multiplayer is fun and addictive and also easy to pick up and play for anyone new to the series and will keep you entertained for hours and the new game mode they added has become my new favorite thing to play. This game has also brought back Spec Ops if you somehow manage to get bored of the multiplayer with missions you can do that have nothing to do with the story and they also included a new survival mode. for those that dont know survival is basicly the same thing as zombies but they are actual people with guns trying to kill you instead of mindless animals and i like it way more than zombies and it actually gives you a feeling of accomplishment where as in zombies there is absolutly no gain and it is generally a waste of time. if you were expecting something different you should shoot that thought out of your arse because it is almost exactly the same thing and if you havent already picked up a copy of this game i think that you should defenatly try this out you will not be dissapointed Expand

Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are 2 different games with 2 different type's of play style - therefore they are only really competing with each other on the $$$ front. - No need to hate on either from that perspective. Now that the "comparison" of BF3 to MW3 is out of the way let me get on with my review of MW3. Having played the COD series from the very beginning and feeling the game come into maturity as both IW and 3Arc passed the torch back and forth each year, I have to say that COD4 really set the stage for the modern 1st person shooter and like any great movie the sequels are hard pressed to hold their own against the original. MW3 borrows probably 90% of the textures, sounds, and map objects from the last 2 games. The cliche if it isnt broke dont fix it comes to mind. The multiplayer is where the game still remains at its best - (once you look past how similar to MW2 it really is), You will bgin to notice that the small tweaks that so many wanted from MW2 have been implemented in MW3 - it no longer takes an entire magazine to take down an enemy player on core mode, gun balance has come into line, perks have been adjusted to be less of a hassle so that true player vs player is the focus and finally the maps and layout of each seems to make for a better flow of battling and prevents slow gameplay. The only real problem with this game is that most players are Veterans of the series and were expecting a "NEW" game but were given MW 2.5. The game is still fun and enjoyable and with the added Spec Ops ( modern day live zombies ) and the stackable kill streaks, you wont regret purchasing it as long as you didnt buy the $99 version. For the new players that this is their 1st time playing the Modern Warfare series will find this one of the best games they have ever played and it will be well worth it. The biggest issue this game has to overcome is the purchase prices of $59 when it should be closer to $39 as an upgrade to MW2 Expand

MW3 is addicting, the maps are many and are extremely fun. The unlocks are amazing and seem like they will never end. This gives me such joy and motivation to keep playing. That is what makes CoD so special. Another aspect of CoD that I really enjoy is the Kill Cam. It helps me to see how I am killed so that I can improve and learn from mistakes. I wish Battlefield would add a Kill Cam. I am playing Domination religiously and I have had many good moments and went to bed around 2:30am last night.

The best part of CoD is its controls and fluid game play. There is no chop chop in this game as it runs at a cool 60FPS. Playing Black Ops and then playing MW3 will show you the difference in the controls. MW3 has that solid flow to it compared to Black Ops cumbersome feel. I will play Black Ops and do ok, but with MW3's excellent control I do much better. Last night I went from level 8 to 18 in just a few hours. I know I have improved but I am able to track better in MW3 than Black Ops.

Kill streaks are an incredible staple to the CoD franchise. The support strike packages are a welcome addition. They allow you to keep your kill streak alive even if you die. The assault strike package acts like the kill streaks from past CoD games which resets your kill streak when you die. I am not the best player by any means and will have a poor kill/death ratio. So this support strike package allows me to enjoy the kill streaks. So far I have spawned a UAV, SAM Turret, Remote Machine Gun Turret and a Stealth Bomber. The SAM Turret is cool because there are always kill streak planes flying over head. It's sweet to see missiles from your SAM Turret streak towards a Stealth Bomber!

Speaking of missiles hitting Stealth Bombers or Helicopters, my rockets when locked hit the plane or helicopter but never seem to destroy it. I have hit a helicopter with a rocket and had it get extremely damaged and "Look" like it was going down but then stay in the air. I don't have another rocket so I cannot take it down. They should explode from one rocket IMHO or give me 2 rockets.

My biggest disappointment is the knifing. This has gone unchanged and is still the fast air slash it was in the past. It would have been great to see a KZ3 or BF3 animated stabbing death. Other than that I don't have anything to complain about.

There are 16 maps which I find very generous. They are from many different locations. I don't have a favorite yet as I am enjoying all the maps. I am sure over time as I learn the names I will enjoy my favorites. One thing I really love about CoD is that when you are killed it's so easy to get back in the action. It is unending and exhilarating.

The audio is top notch falling a close second behind BF3's sound. The guns explode with realism along with the explosions. The planes and different kill streak sounds are amazing!

IW and Sledgehammer did a great job. I don't feel like this is MW2.1 at all. This feels like a different game that has a lot to offer. They took a great formula and perfected it. This is the best CoD released yet. It is a shame that many of the CoD faithful have given a score of 0 when they are playing MW3 right now and really enjoying themselves. It appears that hypocrisy knows no bounds. I will be enjoying this one all year. Hopefully Treyarch can come back with a better effort than Black Ops. Zombies is amazing, but they need to do better on the CoD control feel and MP component.

So although I really did enjoy the campaign and it was very good in my opinion, the ending was not so good. I wasn't satisfied with the ending, and it doesn't seem like the modern warfare franchise which is on its 3rd and most likely final game is really ending, it doesn't feel complete. The multiplayer, however, is largely the motivation alot of people, including myself have and will have for buying this game. Comparing it to modern warfare 1 and 2, it is much the same; however, if you've been playing Black Ops for the past year and want a fresh start, this is it. Multiplayer is based much less upon 'who can run around knifing the fastest' and more upon 'how can you best kill the other team?' It's much more fast-paced that MW2 from what I have seen, but is a whole different ballpark to Black Ops; an experience that won't let you run-and-gun and kill everybody just because you have the fastest reflexes.

How do you judge a game? On graphics? The textures, colours, overall feel of the game is much better than, say, blackOps, but I don't think it's anything to be amazed about- at the very least, it does a bit better with framerate. Audio- I'm not sure if this is because of me being a former blackops regular, but the gun sounds seem a bit more... I don't know, iffy? More 'pewpew' than 'BLAMMM'..... I'm not sure how to fully express that.

Single-player- a must ONLY if you really really care about the endings to a mediocre storyline

Multiplayer- only if you care about chasing the majority of the multiplayer community who, whether they reviewed this game well or not, will be playing online and constantly saying 'THIS GAME SUXXX!'. Yes, the 12-year-old prepubescent idiots are there still, as are the cashed-up-bogans.

Overall; Okay, the review is my own opinion of this game. I'm not going to say it's shattt because, like I said, I actually quite like to play. But I can also see how this game has shortcomings of its own. Between this and BF3, I'd play BF3 for the grand experience of a warzone; I'd play Call of Duty to be a one-man-army. Neither game is monumental, and neither should be GOTY. I give this game a 7/10 because, it's not the worst game in the world, it's not the most amazing game in the world, and yeah, I actually DO play this game.

I think I liked this campaign better than the BF3 one because of those moments even though it is short. I played this on hardened and got through it in about 5 hours so that is sorta disappointing. Graphics wise MW3 doesn't disappoint but still they could have stepped it up after Battlefield. I think that also has to go with the sound grenades are the best example I died most in multiplayer because I could barely hear the grenade. Spec Ops is also back it has missions based around the story and a new survival mode which sees you fighting off waves of enemies and able to call in air support and but ammo, guns and grenades. It's nothing special but it will keep you occupied for a couple of hours. As always the longevity in COD comes from the multiplayer. Here is the downside with this game it is exactly the same 1 new mode some new weapons and exactly the same style. You may as well play MW2 because this just has a new skin attached. The new maps feel like copies also. Overall the MW3 provides a solid single player experience and very old multiplayer experience.
    The Scores
Graphics=7-Modern Warfare 3 looks good but not as good as most current shooters
Sound=6-The sound design sounds exactly like MW2 and that just is not enough
Value=5-There is a good amount of singleplayer but the multiplayer is where the longevity usually is but not this time
Story=7-Great moments but the story like the other games is way to confusing
Gameplay=7-This is a raw barebones shooter with fun gameplay but no depths
Overall=32/50-MW3 is now becoming a dated experience but provides some good fun.

Based on playing spec ops and survival modes co-operatively in split-screen, I can say that Modern Warfare 3 does not fail in this department. Of course, the lack of staffing and time to produce this game has meant that, as with the multiplayer, a lot has been copied over from both CoD4 and MW2. However, the survival mode is something new- kind of a cross between spec ops and zombies. It's very simple but still fun to play, but is not as gripping or addictive as zombies in World at War, for instance. You face attack helicopters, riot shield juggernauts, juggernauts, attack dogs and ordinary soliders. Unlike zombies though, the number of enemies per round does not increase; rather their difficulty and the types of enemies does instead. You can purchase upgrades such as weapons, attachments, perks, killstreaks and even a squad to help you by earning money, and XP ranks you up so you can buy better stuff once you hit the top level 50. You rank up in both spec ops and survival, and as with MW2's split-screen multiplayer, your progression and unlocks are saved in survival/spec ops. The good thing about survival is how you can play them on all multiplayer maps, so it's not like zombies where you have only a few to choose from. Whilst survival makes a genuinely decent addition to co-op, spec ops only manages to copy over missions from the campaign and ideas from both CoD4 and MW2. If you've played them two games, you won't be surprised by anything here. Some missions they've made the copy and paste VERY obvious (like Mile Highjack being a direct copy of Mile High Club). In terms of variety, there is a fair amount. There are a good mix of missions here, not all completely different from each other but an entertaining mix nontheless, with quality being the same as Modern Warfare 2's spec ops missions. The difference is that in MW3 each mission has criteria for high score, which may range from explosion kills, sniper kills, headshots, accuracy time, difficulty etc. What's more, each mission has leaderboards for both co-op and solo, which is nice because it gives them replay value which MW2 lacked. The missions themselves are your usual mix of firing range time trials, bomb defusals, objective collection/extraction, hostage rescue, providing cover for teammate in AC130 or sniping, stealth and just run and gun action. The missions themselves are actually pretty fun in co-op and the variety means that if you're bored of one playstyle you can easily try another mission or have a crack at getting a higher round on survival. Make no mistake, Modern Warfare 3 is by far the best Call of Duty game yet for co-operative gameplay, but I somehow feel that it's below Call of Duty standards. Don't get me wrong, it's just as good as MW2's co-op, but while Modern Warfare 2 pushed and raised the boundaries, Modern Warfare 3 hasn't really done anything new. There's nothing you'll be amazed by at all, and you will frankly laugh at some of their attempts when they blatantly copied and pasted some stuff over such as a building in the CoD4 Pipeline map in one of the spec ops levels. Once you've played the missions a few times though, you will get bored of them easily. However, due to the great variety you may find a few you like, so you could spend hours trying to improve your leaderboard ranking. Personally if it was me, I would much rather spend that time improving high scores in CoD4's arcade mode, as the levels were miles superior to any spec ops mission in MW3. Overall, it's a credible component of Modern Warfare 3 and if you purchased the game for a reasonable price you will not be disappointed. It's a solid co-op, but nothing new or mind-blowing. It's a safe bet for a co-op, but nothing special. Expand

I buy COD for the multiplayer. I like the single player campaigns, I play them, I enjoy them, but I buy the game for the multiplayer. If the games did not have that component I would not buy them, except maybe in the cheap bins. That being said, the campaign in MW3 is fine... good even. And I had fun playing it. Where the game really falls flat, is in the multiplayer. Specifically, the maps. The maps that are included with the game are terrible, in my opinion. I have no stats to back this up, but in the previous COD games, it seems like the maps were well balanced between interiors and exteriors. I am willing to bet that 80% or more of MW3's maps are exterior/outdoor based. There are a million buildings on the maps... but virtually none of them are accessible. And those that are, are little one or two room structures. In the Wall Street map "Downturn," there is NOTHING beyond a small hallway on the second floor of one of the buildings. On a map that takes place among skyscrapers, you get one hallway on the second floor of one building. This issue is repeated over and over in the game, with many of the maps having buildings that are not accessible, or only accessible is so much as they provide a short hallway to get to the next area of the map. In addition, there are virtually no windows or vantage points on the maps to look out from. In addition, the George Lucas effect seemed to be working its magic on the developers. Virtually every inch of every map is cluttered with... stuff. Barrels, cars, debris, crates, and other random junk. The idea that less is more, was clearly NOT in their minds as they designed these locals. Finally, and in conclusion, the game and the maps for multiplayer seem designed for one style of play, that being "run and gun," which is fine and does not make it a bad game for everyone, but it does make it a bad game for me. The game and maps are not balanced to all types of FPS gamers, especially those like myself that like to take things a little slower and are more methodical. It is disappointing that they took a series that had been really well balanced and shifted it so heavily to one type of gamer. I won't say that I will never buy another COD game again, or anything as hyperbole as that. But I will definitely not blindly pre-order the next COD (and especially the next MW) game as I did with World at War, MW2, Black Ops and MW3. I will wait, maybe see if a friend gets it and try it out before committing to it. And maybe not having a COD game I like this year will give me time to try Battlefield. I did not see the point in buying it since I was getting MW3, but for only $28 to $30 around Thanksgiving, I am willing to give that a try and see if maybe that is a better game for me this year. This was worth a $2.00 rent at redbox. I played the main story for about 2 hours and was already bored of it. I even tried multi player for less than an hour. These games are really starting to get tiring. I have no intention to buy this game. There is nothing fun about this game and if you look at the story and game play from an arm length away, it seems like a cheesy B-rated action flick.

So far I've only played the multiplayer for 8 or 9 hours, so this is based on that. I will get around to playing the campaign at some point, but really didn't buy it for that so can't comment on it. I paid £25 for the game from a certain retailer (as part of a deal) which I think is a good price and well worth it.

I also own, play and really like other games of the same genre, so unlike some of the other reviews I will make this as fair and unbiased as possible in an attempt to be helpful.

I've owned all the CoDs of the past few years on PS3 (since CoD4) and this is definitely the slickest, smoothest and fastest, although once I've prestige once I tend to start to get bored of them.

The maps are great. They're varied and bigger than before. The MP part of the game flies. The graphics are slightly improved (think there's new lighting FX) with better textures and environments. It does feel very familiar, but for me thats a good thing and I believe people would be moaning if it were too different. For me, CoD should feel like CoD and this is definitely COD!

Graphically, I'm always a little disappointed by any game (kinda feel like I want everything to visually be a generation of console better), but whilst this maybe isn't graphically the best game out there it does look truly great and should score highly on that front. It's also easy to spot things whilst running or panning and easy to see where you are going - not sure why but some games (Crysis 2, BF3) whilst maybe slightly better graphically seem far too visually busy and 'pixelly' for me making it nearly impossible to spot things and see where you're going... maybe that's more of a frame rate issue though as MW3 runs at a very smooth 60fps.

If you don't own MW2 already this is definitely a must-buy and I'd score it with a 9+
If you own MW2 then view this game as more of a technical and graphical along upgrade with 16 new maps and I'd give it a strong 8. You know what to expect before you play it.
If you own Black Ops already, then I think whilst familiar, MW3 is definitely head and shoulders above Black Ops and I'd rate it with a 8.5.

If you own BF3, then I think it would be a tough call to warrant buying this as well, although they are very different. To me MW3 feels much more like an adrenaline fuelled, arcade, high octane run and gun game and takes itself less seriously than certain other titles.

    Hope that helps!

To me, as a new comer to the Call of Duty series, this game deserves a 9/10. One less than perfect because there is always room for improvement.

I highly recommend the game to new comers to the series. Haven't played the single player. The multiplayer is epic the same way as Halo Reach's is epic but with more guns and gameplay strategies. Love it!

Looking at the critics score it is so simply obvious that craptivision bribed almost everyone of them. Don't support a game with ZERO innovation and the most out dated graphics for a modern game. Story is so cliche and predictable and PLEASE we are all sick of the Russians plot. Many glitches and clunky shooting with old maps 'copy and pasted' just destroys this game. This trend continues with Modern Warfare 3, a game that has already broke new records in sales just like its predecessors, yet shows no signs, while playing, that the game is more than a budget title from amateur developers.

The campaign is over quickly. It has some fun moments, but it's so on rails it could be a Kinect game with very little tweaking.

The online is the true disappointment. The netcode performs poorly under the best conditions, and the best conditions occur very rarely. The peer to peer network system, coupled with the poor netcode and matchmaking, make the online multiplayer a game of chance rather than skill. It really just boils down to who has the lag advantage.

It's my opinion that releasing these games yearly isn't terrible in and of itself, but Activision has no appreciation for its fanbase, and they just under deliver over and over again, praying that their over the top marketing will net them the sales they want.

These reviews of 0 are quite ridiculous, but so are the 9 and 10 reviews. The game contains a lot of content for your $60, but not one piece of that content is anything more than mediocre.

I was hoping this game would prove me wrong. I was hoping MW3 would bring a lot of new features in the same way Black Ops did. Unfortunately a few tweaks here and there, a new gameplay mode, and the same game engine aren't going to cut it. The multiplayer is still fun, but that's not enough anymore. I'm hoping IW is working on a new engine.

Honestly irrepressible how easily people are attracted to the bandwagon approach, the general lack of candidness makes me sad to raise children in the "Internet" generation. Glen Schofield (along with everyone else at IW and SH) you deserve better reviews and the quality of the game should speak for itself. Congratulations on a well made piece of modern popular culture and video game history.

One of the best ways i've heard Call of Duty described recently is 'similar to a sports franchise'. They do what they do well with a finesse that is enjoyed by millions of peopleOne of the best ways i've heard Call of Duty described recently is 'similar to a sports franchise'. Every single year Fifa, PES, Madden and others are released as refined versions of themselves edging ever closer to a perfectly balanced formula. These titles don't re-invent the wheel, they don't need to. They do what they do well with a finesse that is enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. Call of Duty is the sports game of shooting people.

As the franchise moves on, the focus is clearly on the lasting experience of multiplayer. Nowhere is that more evident than in this years release of Modern Warfare 3. People who have played Call of Duty online before will know what to expect here, though this year the refinements have made it the best in the series so far. Subtle emphasis on teamwork can be found in game modes such as Kill Confirmed and the Stike Package system. These new tweaks encourage players to try out different play styles and to work together helping their team towards victory. It's a very encouraging and welcome move by Infinity Ward. The multiplayer on a whole feals much more balanced than MW2 and is a deeper experience than Black Ops. The amount of content in the game is fairly staggering when you consider the number of hours that can be lost to levelling your character, your weapons, completing challenges and upgrading your loadout. Combined with a solid 6 hour campaign that will be a good challenge on the harder difficulties, and robust co-op modes this really is a wealth of content.

The Spec ops mode is back from MW2 and is far more robust than last time. The missions focus on giving players different roles (similar to Overwatch in MW2). This technique basically doubles the amount of play you can get out of these side quests as you can play them all as both roles. Survival mode is a welcome new feature that is Call of Duty's take on Gears of War's Hoard mode. Pitting you against waves of increasingly difficult enemies this sounds like 'Zombies mode with soldiers'. However, it si far from it. By killing enemiesy you recieve money to buy upgrades and more weapons / armour. Eventually you will hit a point where you can't progress any further and it'll be game over. However, the catch is that you level up in spec ops in a similar way to multiplayer. This means that as you return for a second round of survival, you will have increased your level and more robust defensive and offensive equipment will be availible to you, thus enabling you to progress further. It is this reward and progress system that has made call of duty so addictive, and with each iteration the teams involved are finding new and impressive ways to keep you hooked for the 12 months until the next installment is released.

The final major change comes with Call of Duty Elite. A free service similar to bungie.net that enables you to track all of your stats over both Black Ops and MW3. You can study your performance on each map, compare yourself to your friends, assign custom loadouts (which appear next time you start up the game) and read up on all manner of strategies and tips. There is a premium version availible for $50 / £35 which includes all the map packs to be released for the whole year (meaning that you save money in the long run) and other premium content such as video guides.

This is the most complete Call of Duty package that we have seen yet. With a plethora of game modes this will satisfy even the most hardcore of players. However, the tweaks to the multiplayer and the options to act as a support character and still feel like you make a difference to the match makes this game one of the most welcoming to new players as well. If you have played Call of Duty and are not exhausted of the formula then you should pick this up. If you've never played Call of Duty then there has never been a better time to get on board.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is mostly the same on both the 360 and the PS3 versions, but there are a few performance issues that must be noted.

The open microphone system in online multiplayer on the PS3 cuts in and out semi-frequently. It's not enough to make anyone inaudible, but it is a slight annoyance.

While the 360 boasts a whopping 60 frames per second, it feels and looks as if the PS3 is running at 45 to 50 fps. This isn't a huge deal, but if you notice the little details, you will notice this, though 45 frames would still be higher than most other games out in this category of modern first person shooters.

The online connection between players doesn't seem to be as good as that of the 360's version either for some reason, though, it is hardly noticeable. Once again, only someone with a sharp eye who lives and breathes gaming would notice this.

I still recommend this game whole-heatedly. Though, if you have the option to choose between owning it on the XBOX 360 or PS3, choose the 360 version. The slight differences make it worth choosing one over the other.

Yes, modern warfare 3 is pretty much the same game as number 1 and 2 . Is that a bad thing? In a word, No! Modern warfare 3 is like playing a Michael Bay blockbuster. Michael Bay movies are generally pretty lame when it comes to story elements, but I still enjoy them because of the edge of your seat action. That is the exact same reason I love Modern Warfare. There are tons of moments that leave you on th edge of your seat. I've only played the first three missions, and each one of them had a moment that dropped my jaw entirely. Whether it was racing through a fleet of Russian battleships as they explode around you, or getting a first hand experience of a plane crash, I was blown away by these moments. Concerning multiplayer, I can tell you that it's a huge improvement over modern warfare 2. In mw2 you couldn't turn a corner without being vulnerable from six different directions. The new maps seem to be much more organized, while still maintaining the verticality of mw2. And the strike packages are a very welcome addition. I am by no means a pro at this. So to have the ability to still be a help to my team, despite my less than stellar kill-death ratio, helps those of us that don't always get the high scores. In closing, I'm sure I will be labled a fanboy, or accused of working for Activision, but I don't care. This is a good game, and people are showing their appalling ignorance by blasting it with these unbelievable review scores. The first modern warfare game was fun, and this one is too. It is, however, filled with some great set pieces and good old shooting action that Call of Duty does so well. There's also a lot of content to be had in the special ops and multiplayer suites of the game which add a lot of replay value to the game. While it doesn't take any massive new leaps in the shooter genre, it's gameplay and controls are as fluid and fun as ever. The new survival mode, whilst not entirely original, works extremely well and is a welcome addition to the standard game modes on offer.

The single player is awesome. It's a little short, but Call Of Duty is mainly a multiplayer based game. TheModern warfare 3 is a perfect blend of everything. Spec ops is done very well. The new survival mode is like the horde mode in gears, and presents the players with a challenge to stay alive and work as a team. The missions in Spec ops are also very well done. Presenting even some of the best players with a challenge, they're well worth going through.

The visuals in the game are similar to Modern Warfare 2, but are still amazingly done. With the use of more colour in the maps, the visuals are amazing. Overall this game is very well done. I recommend this to anyone who fell in love with Modern Warfare 2.

You can be proud of one thing, the community of pigeons who buys this "thing".
Yours DLCs price abused, maps with any originality, well done for taking over the buildings of COD MW, is it a little less work to do for a company of **** like you, who only think about filling up the balls with money of the players.
Your graphics burn my retina ! Your engine is a Porsche ? Haha he's good for

You remove the only improvement that had been done since MW, diving to lie on the floor.

Hum, i am a soldier, i have a sniper in the hands of 10-12 kg and 20 kg of kit in the back, but i make a 360° and i kill an enemy without aiming ! Wow the quick-scope and this lightness, what realism !

I'm proud of you, since MW without any news idea, and sales are amazing, great job ! I can not imagine your pride for this, crooks of first order !

I think it an immature disservice to the hard work of the staff at infinity ward, sledgehammer games, and raven software to simply write off MW3 with a one sentence review, and giving them a zero or a one; chances are you have not even played a few hours of the game yet, or given an opportunity to each of its modes. For those that are willing to invest a little more time, I thinkI think it an immature disservice to the hard work of the staff at infinity ward, sledgehammer games, and raven software to simply write off MW3 with a one sentence review, and giving them a zero or a one; chances are you have not even played a few hours of the game yet, or given an opportunity to each of its modes. For those that are willing to invest a little more time, I think there is a plethora of replay value hidden with the MW3 world. Survival mode is a very welcome addition, not to mention the fun to be had with the standard levels of Spec Ops. Although I would have maybe preferred 4 player for the survival mode, the feeling that is derived from battling it out with just one friend of yours is still very satisfying and has a high replay value. Multiplayer does feel slightly familiar to me, and the maps a little bit too condensed, but the strike packages are a real refreshment, as well as the ability to unlock weapon perks. Every single game it feels like your character is progressing, which is a good feeling overall. I do feel the game really does still need some work though, as the spawning system is still heavily flawed (I don't know how many times an enemy somehow has spawned directly behind me so far); as well as the inability to do simple things like climb onto a car, or any other reachable surfaces. I have been running often times and stopped completely in my tracks because my characters right arm must have bumped into a small object, which is a nuisance. Lag is also a huge issue (unless your able to afford stellar internet), I am supposed to be getting 7-10 MB a second, but in some games the opposing player doesn't even look like they have fired yet on my screen but I magically die and fell like chucking my controller across the room. When I actually do have a solid ping connection, it seems to run like most call of duty games before it. Another minor grip that i feel that black-ops got right, was during objective based matches like domination, when you zoom in inline towards a point, the A, B, or C, should fade out in order allow your field of vision to be unaffected if searching for an enemy. As a final note, the new game modes are fun (kill confirmed and team defender), and a welcome change of pace. I have not played the single player campaign yet, so my comments are more strictly reserved for Spec Ops and Multiplayer. The spawning issues, in my opinion, could be averted if we had a few bigger maps to choose from, as each of them feel slightly too small for my tastes. Though the map size may feel great to the run and gunners, its not for everyone. All in all, I am still satisfied with my purchase, as I have enjoyed the Call of Duty formula since the original Modern Warfare. I own battlefield 3 as well and will go back and forth between these two games depending on what style of combat I want to engage in for the day. Expand

Loved Modern warfare 1 and 2, and hasn't changed for 3. Graphics might be slightly improved but game play definitely has improved. Online play is even better and campaign was interesting but a good way to continue it. Campaign definitely improved since mw2 only had 5 hours of campaign play. Overall amazing game and deserves full marks.

I can guess what are the next titles of COD... Black Ops 2, Then MW4, and just use this formula its pretty easy (name+number+1) on all titles that's the only difference on this COD games... Last Number... Same Engine, with some tweaks so it doesn't look pretty obvious is the same sh*t over and over...

This was a great expansion, thanks infinity ward you're really creative. It's nice to see that you make billions every year, and you don't even put the tiniest bit of effort to make it a better game, or go above and beyond. Thanks for settling for the expected, really makes you a great games studio. But hell, what can you do when you have to publish this crap every year?

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.

As a complete package, Modern Warfare 3 takes the cake. [Jan 2012, p.67]
