Well I bought this with an open mind. Even looking forward to the new MW in the series and I have to say to say I am disappointed. There were games in 2009 that looked better than this one. The maps are good overall, exciting gameplay anyway. But they seem very generic. I don't have a sense of excitement when certain maps coming up. Even Black Ops as glitchy as it was had some maps I still enjoy playing. That game had better graphics as well. I might be trading this one for BF3. From what I've seen online it seems way more advanced. Epic fail Activision. Expand

I feel like I've played this game before. Oh wait, I did. Two years ago. Apparently Infinity Ward believes that by copy and pasting everything from Modern Warfare 2 and slapping on a new title justifies paying $60 for a new game.

Wish I didn't have to pay 60 bucks for this game. It's the same game, which isn't bad, but I don't feel like I got my money's worth. Fun to play along side with your friends online, but then it doesn't look as smooth anymore.

The polish is better and the hit markers are more accurate than black ops. I'm not saying it is revolutionary by any means but it has a lot of what I loved about MW2. The game has only been out for a fews weeks so most of you haven't even leveled all of the way up to experience every weapon and no one has had the time to test everything out and find that perfect combination of everything. The game could have been better but I am glad that it wasn't worse. They could have ruined the game by deviating too much from what made the first two games great. So quit complaining. Most of you couldn't have designed a better game and I'm sure most of you are the people I keep having to carry because you go 4 and 15 every match. Be proactive and design maps and new ideas to submit to developers. Whining about things never solve anything. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a response to people who hated Black Ops. People preferred another MW sequel and they got just that. Why do people think there was going to be some type of breakthrough?? The graphics will always be similar to previous COD games on the PS3. The formula will always be the same. My only beef is that the stealth bomber looks bad and is weak. It is not worth 12 points. All in all it is a great game. It does what it's supposed to do. Don't change anything. People will always buy this because it fun simple and addicting. It is a 9 in my book. Expand

Game play is ok maps suck and interaction with objects in the map is horrible, when you shoot windows you hear glass break and pieces fly but the windows appearance doesn't change. SADLY it's because the devs aren't listening to their playerbase and only in it for the money now, everything about MW3 just screams garbage, reused textures, nothing new to the table, simple vanity, and now, an "optional" 15$ / month scheme, sorry, but that amount of content doesnt even get CLOSE to justify a 5$ a month charge, CoD is NOT WoW, anyone that actually pays for this concoction of trash and rejected materials from MW, MW2 , Black ops, and given a "MW3" name, is simply blind and uneducated to the reality that this series needs to die, it COULD have gone peacefully, but the devs are certain to drag the dead horse untill it's bones break, which MW3 will indeed do. As a Call of Duty fan, I couldn't wait to finally play the game that I had been waiting for so long. I can already tell you that I'm really glad that I bought it. The singleplayer and multiplayer are great, but are two different games which should be reviewed seperatly. Singleplayer
The singleplayer continues the story of Russia and America fighting a war just because one man tricked the world. You play as a lot of characters, and the story is intense. Characters from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 return which will make you smile since they survived. The singleplayer has an incredibly good story and you'll be all over the world fighting the bad guys and the ending will please all fans. The gameplay is also intense and as always, a certain scene has been added which can be viewed as "shocking". It's not as shocking as the nuke in Call of Duty 4, but your jaw will drop. The shooting is great and you won't be bored if you play at the right difficulty.

    Multiplayer
The multiplayer is like Call of Duty 4 but with a few new features added. At first it can be really hard since it doesn't play like Modern Warfare 2. Getting kills is harder and don't expect to get a 20 kill streak as easy as in Modern Warfare 2. It feels like Infinity Ward finally listened to the community and made the game harder. Camping will get you killed and rushing aswell, so you'll have to move and work with your teammates to survive. They also added a new gamemode (kill confirmed) which will keep you bussy. The leveling system is better then ever.

The only thing that really bothered me is the fact that they used gunsounds from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. It feels really cheap but it won't bother you for too long. Buy this game if you enjoyed Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty 4.

Spec Ops Survival - Infinity Ward's version of zombies - actually fun and refreshing albeit shallow

In my Opinion Activision Should Follow the Paths of Blizzard and Valve Alike, Make only a few games and patch them on a regular basis. But when Money is involved i dnt think thats going to happen Overall An Ok game at that, might wait till it's ben patched a bit better.

I'm actually going to write a review against all negative critics. I have been playing COD franchise since COD1. I bought all COD but this time I thought it is time to switch to BF3. After watching both reviews on GT, BF3 scored 9.2 and MW3 scored 9.3. That little 0.1 made me change and I decided to buy MW3 instead. So why am I giving a 10/10 for MW3? Here is why: COD4 was a huge successI'm actually going to write a review against all negative critics. Here is why: COD4 was a huge success and I have to say it was really my first FPS I got addicted with and played COD4 for 1500 hours. COD4 was great and finally a GOOD welcoming change after CSS, Quake, Wolfenstein and TF engines. I remember though at that time people wanted to go back to WW2 style. So Treyarch decided to make WaW which ended up to be a pure disaster. Finally MW2 came out! Although it was a great game, lack of dedicated servers on PC did not make me want to play MW2 a lot. Therefore Treyarch then decided to release BLACK OP re-installing previous dedicated servers. I have to disagree with 85% of negative critics posted here. It is true that MW3 resembles a lot to MW2 but who cares? seriously? I know the franchise has been releasing a game every year? Get it over it lol again who cares? If they want to make money let them be! MW3 is, to me, an awesome game. I started it and I got addicted instantly. MW3 combines all previous years of experience this franchise has gained from COD4, WaW, MW2 and BLACK OP. Guns are really good, I haven't tried all of them yet - but so far rifles are well balanced. SMGs are SMGs. Melee got nerfed slightly to make it more realistic and finally many perks have been reviewed, changed and unlike in BLACK OP, akimbos are now only secondary guns. I am relieved to not see P90 akimbos anymore. As you would expect, MW3 maps are truly well designed. Although there are a lot of openings - you can't really "own" a map as MW3 is based on fast-pace style. It is good (gives new players the opportunity to kill and respawn is almost instant) and bad (for veteran players, it can be sometimes very frustrating - veterans can be killed from any corners) I am also very happy that Infinity Ward has introduced a whole new system in MP that allows you to level up a gun. I also enjoy new perks that can make you invisible to Air Support/Choppers. Finally, perhaps it is only me but I feel like MW3 really learnt from MW2 mistakes and Auto matchmaking on MW3 is fairly solid. The engine is really consistent. New modes such as Survival and Co op mission are really great! See I never really liked Co op mission. But MW3 made me change my opinion! Also if you are a "zombie-fan-kid" like I was in BLACK OP, you will love the survival mode Infinity Ward has introduced in MW3. In addition to people's critics: 1. No real innovation? I don't think so, I think there is when it comes down to perks, guns etc. Although it is minimal it doesn't really bother me like most raging kids. 2. Another cash? LOL so what? seriously who cares? 3. Bored of Campaign? At first I was very excited about MW3 SP, but the more you play the more bored you get. Why? Because you try to finish the game in 7 days. I'm pretty sure if you space out your gameplay you won't find Campaign as boring as most people think. It took me 8hrs to finish Campaign on Veteran mode. 4. MP is exactly the same as in MW2? Yea pretty much and I'm happy about it. BLACK OP wasn't much for me. Im more an Infinity Ward fan Expand

Deep Spec-Ops and of course super addictive multiplayer.
While the guns and graphics have not notably changed the addition of points streaks and kill confirmed deserve credit. The game is worth every penny!

Modern Warfare 3 is a good game, but the problem is the lack of additions to the new game. It is basically a mix of MW1 AND 2, with the only things new are gun levels, proficiency and kill streaks. Well @ least I loved it, more so than the second one anyway. Not much to say about the gameplay, only difference is the addition of "dual sights" allowing the player the use of a more close-range sight like a holographic sight & a longer range option like an ACOG for enemies that are further out on the battlefield. While the game looks pretty good & is very fluid, what in the he'll happened to the sound!?!? It's completely unrealistic & "muted" I hateto be one of "those guys" but Battlefield got it right. I remember the first fire fight because I had my sound turned up to hear the voices & then all of a sudden the **** hit the fan & the gunfire was loud & the bass thumped hard! I'd unload my magazine after I killed te enemy in front of me just to hear/feel the gunfire & enjoy tue experience the only way it can be enjoyed, in a virtual environment. In MW3, you can always hear voices extra loud over really muted gunfire.. Ok enough about that. Multiplayer. It's got it's strengths & weaknesses which basically boil down to your preference in franchises. If you LOVE COD chances are your mind will be closed to what Battlefield has to offer that's fun & engaging. Not to say that MW3 isn't fun in it's own right. Between the perks, fast level-ups & modes of gameplay it's pretty fun. Kill confirmed is an excellent example of this, that is my favorite mode of play, but there are numerous others. Sorry can't speak to what COD Elite has to offer, but from what I've been hearing about it, I think it's kind of funny that people are so upset by EA's decision to make people who buy the game (Battlefield 3) pay $15 to play online. @ least everyone's on the same playing field once they buy in & don't have to contend w/ goofballs who are willing to shell out another $50/yr for maps & added perks/advantages.

Sorry for the less than objective review, but hey this is a public forum & I'm not a professional writer..

It was the same levels over and over you would start off silent and then it would hit the fan and a huge gun battle would ensue. As for for spec ops survival and mission. Survival is probably the best part of mw3 it was a needed addition and probably what made give this game a score of 5 it would have been lower without spec ops. As for the mission portion it was thrown together with hardly any thought, they just threw it in there it is not fun and it takes no teamwork i could run through the levels on my own without my partners help if i wanted to. Now as for the worst part of the game, online. This part is garbage, the maps are horrible besides a couple, every gun is a sniper rifle it seems and any noob can go 1 to 1 in this game. It has no skill and no teamwork, it endorses camping because people want to get there killstreaks and even when someone does get a killstreak it gets shot down seemingly right away which i have no issue with but im sure others due. Infinity ward and sledgehammer wanted to go back to their roots but in no way is this game anything like cod modern warfare. It is a bland adaptation with a few improvements that should have been done in a patch or update to mw2. In my opinion and again it is my opinion this is the worst call of duty game on this generation of consoles. honestly i am already waiting for the next adaptation from treyarch at least they aren't scared of trying new things. All in all if i knew this game would be this bad i would have never bought it but instead rented it and definitely wouldn't have waited for 3 hours in the rain to get it. Expand

Im reviewing this based off the three game choices you are given at the main title screen; Spec Ops, Campaign, and Multiplayer. Im also comparing this game to Modern Warfare 2, not Call of Duty Black Ops, because Black Ops was not made by infinity ward. For Spec Ops, the game has two modes of play, Survival and missions. The missions are short and sweet, lasting around 5 to ten minutesIm reviewing this based off the three game choices you are given at the main title screen; Spec Ops, Campaign, and Multiplayer. Im also comparing this game to Modern Warfare 2, not Call of Duty Black Ops, because Black Ops was not made by infinity ward. For Spec Ops, the game has two modes of play, Survival and missions. The missions are short and sweet, lasting around 5 to ten minutes long, depending on difficulty choice and other factors. The Survival mode is where you progressively fight waves of enemies in the form of ways in similar ways to the "zombies mode" in black ops. You get a variety of weapons to choose from and a disappointing amount of perks and and air support choices, unfourtantely. Spec ops survival mode lets you rank up, so it gives you that "achievement fix" people crave, and all the maps are the multiplayer maps, so you become aware of what each map is like for when you switch to multiplayer. The downside is, if you have played the other call of duty games, you will notice that all of the maps have this "cut and paste" feeling. You will feel like "i remember this hallway, or this grassy area looks familiar, or this snow level seems the same as the last game". But where spec ops really shines is having your girlfriend (or friend, for you forever alones) sit next to you and play survival together, able to look at the screen below you and know you got someone watching your back. Moving on to the campaign: Im just going to simplify this for you, If you never played any modern warfare before, the story is going to not make much sense to you, but they do offer a little cutscene to try to make sense of it. also, theres going to be a large amount of moments that are considered so over the top that you might think its really cool, or your like me and get bored of it because its simply ridiculous. For you Veteran players out there, this one is easier than black ops, not as hard as mw2. it has the simple formula of tap L1, shoot people, get shot, hid in cover for a few seconds to regenerate health. chances are you will probably die from a car explosion, because they only seem to blow up when you get close to them -_-. so be wary of tires on fire! that means its going to blow up. Onto multiplayer: As i mentioned before, you can play all the multiplayer maps on spec ops to get a feel for them so you dont get lost or wander aimlessly, but if you jump right into multiplayer (which is what i did), you will be confused, most likely. But the game is mostly similar to mw2 with improvements that make it feel like a DLC more than a full on new game. Notable improvements are the revamped killstreak system, now called point system. any time you kill someone, capture a flag, plant a bomb, take out a helicopter etc you get a point. Also there are 3 types of killstreak packages to choose from (with different types of killstreaks to earn). The first is the Strike Package, which is your standard cod killstreak idea, where you try to kill as many people you can before you die, and the streak ends. the support package, is the same but when you die your killstreak doesnt end, it carries over and you can still get that EMP you have always wanted :] . the third is the specialist strike package, this operates like the strike package, where when you die, it restarts. But instead of getting a UAV or a Helicopter, you get perks. so two kills you would get sleight of hand on the spot, or whatever you choose. Another improvement is that the guns have their own weapon proficiency, which levels up the more you use it, unlocking perks for the gun like focus, which is less recoil, or two attachments or impact which is like the fmj, or even longer range or more damage(like stopping power). these are seperate from the guns sights and attachments etc. Another change is 90% of the guns are new, which is good, and now the shotgun is a primary weapon like COD4, and the riot shield is back. Also, stopping power isnt a perk, its a weapon profficency and its the last one so your not really going to die as fast, and danger close is gone, commando is gone, and it always takes to noob tube hits to kill someone unless its a direct hit. where the game goes south is the spawn system. more often then not you will be spawned to feet behind, on the side, or in front of an enemy , and dying for stupid reasons. also, there is no cover, no where is safe. if you had a dedicated buddy he could cover your back, but thats a rare thing. What i recommend is you rent this game, see if you wanna keep it, then buy it. i rented it for 4 days and did not purchase. but its not a zero or a 2.8, its an 8 Expand

I've played video games since I was an infant, and since being an infant, I've seen the gaming industry go through a revolution. The gaming industry moves faster than in terms of innovation, than any other medium in the WORLD. To me, that is amazing. So I'll begin, with saying I did not have to pay money for this game, I borrowed it from a friend, so its not like I'am upset that I got ripped off. There has only been one game series that I've ever seen before, that completely screwed up every game in their series after the first one. And that game is Halo. Halo one is great game, for us PC fanboys (I used to be) it'll always have a place in our hearts. Then Halo 2 came out, I grabbed that game opening day, and never once in my entire life have I ever been so disappointed by a inanimate object. But you know what the difference between Halo, and Call of Duty is? Bungie (the company behind Halo) actually tried. Bungie actually tried to make a game that would CRUSH, their previous one. And you can see it in every aspect, even if you hate halo 2 and every one after it like I do, you can't help but appreciate the technology they've created, and what they've done. We are getting to a point now, where third party gaming companies (those games the mainstream doesn't buy) after innovating more than Activision. And yes, I know Bungie is a developer, and Activision is a producer. But the difference, is that Bungie's producer tells them "Make a great game", Activision tells their developers "It releases next november". So you can't help but assume the game it already going to be terrible. But no matter I gave it a chance. I myself am I fan of multiplayer, I hate single player everything, so for the benefit of the score of this game, I will not rate the single player. In my opinion, if you are buying this game for the single player, you need psychological help. Anyways, lets take a look. MAPS: Okay, so in standard call of duty fashion, excluding Call of Duty 4 all the maps are designed in a "circle" fashion. Which means that all the players are basically running around the map in a circle all the time. What does this mean for gameplay? It means that no matter what your style is, you will get shot in the back, all the time. Not only that, but the cover is completely useless being that the guns do not have any recoil. Even if you can't be seen by your enemy, they can easily shoot you through a wall. Not only that, but I don't know if this has been a common problem. But probably one of my biggest pet peeves in a game, is giving me the option of spawning into the game, I press that button, and guess what happens? I die. Its extremely easy to figure out the spawns, and sit in a position where you can spawn kill all match. Thats called poor design, and the only difference between this game and Call of duty 4, is some guns have recoil in cod4, and some of the maps are designed so you aren't continuously shot in the back (though not all). GAMEPLAY: Oh god, can we skip this one? NO?! Basically here is what makes Call of duty so addictive, here is why people buy it, and if you like the sound of this, YOU SHOULD BUY THIS GAME. Not rent, you should buy. You will love it I promise. Best feature about call of duty (in my opinion) is turning on your system of choice, and getting into a game as fast as your system turned on. But as soon as I notice this great feature, I just as quickly realize my most hated part of a call of duty game. The gameplay. Its designed, the sprinting, the movement, the recoil on the weapons, the attachment for the weapons, how much it takes for you to die; this is all designed you make you feel like you are the in game version of Jesus Christ. Let me explain; Now lets say, you are absolutely TERRIBLE at first person shooters, call of duty is a perfect first stop IF you know nothing about video games, and what it means to put care into a game. You will do GREAT in call of duty, you will be SO proud of yourself, want to know why? Because of the poor map design, followed by all those things above, you will no matter what enter a scenario, where you will slaughter your enemies, in what way exactly I have no idea. But you will do so well for just a brief 10 seconds, and that for most people is reward enough. SOUND: **** just **** sorry. They have so much money they can afford the biggest names to make an INSANE soundtrack. Not only that, in not one single call of duty game in the history of call of duty have they ever used real gun sounds for all the guns. Meaning you have an MP5k, that actually makes the sound of an FN P90. Which for most, who cares? But for gun dorks like me, its a big deal. GRAPHICS: Call of duty 4? HOW OLD IS THAT GAME, WHY USE THE SAME ENGINE?! Expand

They singleplayer, spec ops, and multiplayer modes make up for the not-so-enhanced visuals. The story isnt all that good. it actually seems like they just pulled that story out of their ass. BUT i was quite surprised at times, like the level "blood brothers" im not gonna spoil, but this level really does get rid of ALL the loose ends from the previous games. The spec ops mode was amazing. If you have 20 minutes to spare, sit down and play some survival! whether you are alone or with a friend it is fun. it can get boring at times, but you just gotta be in the mood. i also think that spec ops has greatly improved from the previous MW game. Now then: Multiplayer. CoD's MP is really fun. Deathstreaks are still here (sad face) but hardly anyone abuses them. none of the perks are OP, and the new killstreak system is new and improved. some call it MW2.5, but i call it MW3, because it is. Everyone compares it to previous games, but they shouldnt. i look at every game independently as it is, and this game is fun. if a game isnt fun dont play it. I think the people that are really good and run around with similar Clans will do well and those average players without Clans will suffer. It's a realy shame as this might be the last time I'll purchase the CoD tile from Activision. It's funny, because at time I wish i could go back and play World at War and I loved Black Ops. That tells me that the people making the Modern Warfare series just don't suite their game to my style of play, which is fine, I won't buy their stuff. Expand

I really wanted to like the game, but its plagued by lack of any type of innovation whatsoever and maps that really have no business being so pathetic in this day of gaming. The maps are reminiscent of something from the early days of this type of FPS, and not in a good way. Unoriginal and chaotic, it appears that they literally took a random map generator and went with it. As far as being new, about the only NEW item is killstreaks, and most of them just seem redundant and pointless (1 helicopter, vs. a bunch of helicopters, vs 1 tough helicopter). I miss the Blops bomb RC car, or dogs. Would have been nice if they put just a bit more thought into the rewards. Customization has taken a slide from Blops also with little more than what was offered in MW2. Speaking of MW2, MW3 feels more like an expansion and less like a sequel. Zombies are gone giving way to a "meh" spec ops survival. Play wise the game is currently frequented by spikes of near unplayable lag, its not uncommon to be in a firefight and lose and then witness yourself not even facing the enemy or firing a shot during playback. Ultimately this game feels like a marketing scam with the only thing going for it is that it is a badly modified copy of a excellent game from years back. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 isnt a map pack described in the reviews of the haters but isn't a totally new experience either. The engaging formula of CoD its now back and pulished with the fast online matches, the awesome Killstreaks and Perks. But where is the real Weakness in MW3? Its in the Single Player Campaign and its Graphics (That aren't bad, just ... old?). Let me explain the problem with the single player campaign: In the trailers we saw awesome Gun Fights in the Modern World War III and it looked just epic but the problem was that Activision made the customers to expect a Lot from the Campaign but the scenes played on the Trailers, were the best action scenes we saw in the whole Game so, it was a little bit dissapointing. I have to admit that I get a little bit emotional with the death of Soap Mactavish but just that ... Modern Warfare 2 had a better story than its sequel, when we saw Ghost Death we all fell anger and we just wanted to kill Shepherd and in the end of the Washington Level we were anxious to atack Russia ... You understand no? That was a shooter with a Great Plot! The gameplay its ... its more of the same but isn't bad, practically you just Shoot, Run, Cover, Follow, plant C4 and kill some Russian Bad guys but it works its simple and addicting ! What can I say? I really love CoD and my favorite was MW2 followed by Black Ops but after playing this game that wasn't bad but it was dissapointing in a new level of dissapointingness (I was expecting a better final to the story of Soap and Captain Price) but ... meh, the multiplayer its more of the same with different scenarios with 3 or 4 extra perks and Killstreaks OH! and there isn't a lot of hideouts for Campers (AWWW YEAH!). VERDICT: 7/10 Expand

There are also those who absolutely love this game because it's a Call of Duty game. For me, I bought the game having nothing against the Call of Duty series, mainly because I never play any of the games unless my friends are. This means that my score for this game will not be affected by the terms listed above. First, the Campaign mode. The campaign mode is the same as you've probably already predicted... It's action-packed, the screen is loaded with explosions, and there are tons of vehichle sections. I personally found nothing wrong with the story except for the predictability of it, the fact that the Ranger squad from Modern Warfare 2 doesn't make an appearance, and how short it is. I ended up beating this Campaign in around 5 hours on Regular and 8 hours on Veteran. The main problems of the Campaign come from the terrible AI that remains unchanged from all of the Call of Duty games. The AI will always know where you are and will stop at nothing to stop your progress... Which would be fine if you weren't supposedly controlling some average soldier. Instead of worrying about your teammates that are only a few meters away, they will always focus their fire on you. However, there are many exciting set pieces in the campaign that can make up for some of these problems. The Spec Ops has two different gameplay modes, both of which are very fun and addictive. Survival mode is a mode in which you do your best to survive increasingly difficult waves of enemies, such as dogs, suicide bombers, juggernauts, and chemical agents. In order to survive these enemies, you must go to the three terminals which allow you to buy and upgrade weapons, place traps, call in airstrikes, or buy defensive equipment... But there is a drawback however. In this mode you start with only a few of these options, upgrades, and weapon varieties, and to unlock more you must increase your Spec Ops level. I also found it slightly disappointing that you can only play with up to two players in this mode, instead of four players. The mission mode has returned and it comes with a great amount of variety. In one mission you have to disarm bombs, in another you can control juggernauts, and in my favorite mission one player controls sentry guns in order to help the other player reach the objective in time. These modes require much more thinking and cooperation than the rest of the game and it's a welcome return in my book. And finally, the main aspect of the game... the multiplayer portion. The general Call of Duty gameplay has returned, but only with a few additions and changes. The new multiplayer has introduced Strike Packages, which allow you to change the way your killstreaks work, there is Assault (The regular old-style system that has been used since COD4), Support (Used to support your team and your killstreak doesn't reset), and Specialist (You get perks instead of Killstreak rewards). They also added a new weapon proficiency system, where you have to level up your weapons to get your attatchments, camos, RD sights, and so on. And of course, they added new perks along with all of the perks that you'd expect to see in any Call of Duty game (Scavenger, Sleight of Hand). Also, playing the objective of the game mode or destroying enemy killstreaks will add to your killstreaks, as well as shooting at people. Other than that and a couple new gameplay modes, that's just about all the gameplay changes in this game. The melee system still has major issues, the spawning is terrible, and camping is just about the easiest way of getting kills. Any weapon that had balance issues before (UMP, Scar, ACR) is back and is still overpowered. The lag in this game is unbelievable at certain times (Sometimes it would skip every 5 seconds). And the multiplayer community doesn't help any of these issues either, instead they choose to exploit these issues... Doing anything possible to win. However, the multiplayer is still addictive at certain times despite all of these flaws... Especially when playing with friends. Overall, this game was fun but was held back a little bit by some of its flaws, especially on the Campaign and its acclaimed multiplayer. These flaws didn't make the game terrible, but they did make the game not as good as the previous Modern Warfares. But, if you are a person who is completely trashing the game and giving it a brutally low score... Just remember, the game was made in around a year. You can't expect to shove an insane number of changes in a videogame formula in under a year and even if you did, it would be even more laggy and unplayable than it is now. So in the end, Infinity Ward did a decent job, so their game gets a decent score: an 8/10 Expand

Totally loved every aspect of this game - single player, spec ops and multiplayer. The single player story can be a little disjointed at times but we buy games to play for its fun factor! And MW3 has lots of that in all its modes.

I agree that the game seems more like MW2 1/2, or a glorified expansion pack, but I also like the comfort of being able to pick up a controller and just play the game without a huge learning curve. I bought this game and give it a week. It is one of the worst games I've ever bought. I've played previous call of duty games, and enjoyed them. This game has plenty of problems. Lag complacency issues suck the life out of multiplayer. Every match feels predetermined because the team with the favorable connections wins. The maps are cluttered, campish, and dull colored. None of the maps are memorable. The gun balance is a joke. The killstreaks don't require players to actually go on a killstreak anymore for the support killstreak class. The solo campaign is sorta fun, but really short and brainless. I didn't play the escalation mode. This game is pretty much garbage. Expand

This game for the PS3 is just plain brutal. The multiplayer is a daily lag fest. I have top quality internet service at 25Mbps consistant. Random deaths are a daily game occurance with this game since all guns have the ability to shoot through walls. Doesnt really matter which weapon you use since it only takes a couple of hits to be killed. This game has more flaws than I can even list. No hit sounds, bad frame rate, matchmaking system is horrible, and get some dedicated servers................enough with this laggy crap! Expand

I would firstly start by questioning whether anyone actually realises what a sequel is. Its meant to have many qualities which are similar while adding and changing certain things and finishing the story. It's a shooter so there's only so much that can be changed. There are a few problems, hence the 9 and not 10 (you dont have to give it a 0 just because its not perfect or what you wanted). There are still flaws in the MP such as knifing through air and lag; and the campaign is too short, but these are redeemed through everything else. Before going on ill also address the whole stupid Battlefield vs MW thing. Why cant people just like both? I do. I prefer MW3 But would never say that BF3 is a bad game. They are so similar in some ways that it makes more sense to either like or hate both. The set pieces in BF3 are weak and feel lifeless no matter how interactive they tried to make them, but the MP is more strategic which is good and so why choose if I had the money id get both but couldnt (have seen BF played through and had a go though). MW3 nicely wraps up the story of the game with plenty of dramatic moments or twists which keep you interested and eager to find out what will happen next. The characters aren't very deep ( the usual macho men that you get in every war game) and yet they still manage to make you care about their fate on more than one occasion. The plot itself could be considered a little thin but does make sense and create an adequate sense of tension. The storyline moves along so quickly that some details are skimmed over and so it's hard to understand what is going on at times; on the other hand the pace keeps things interesting and no level or section of the story drags on for too long and becomes boring. The huge set-pieces in the game deliver such mind-blowing impact that you feel like youre really fighting for your life. There are just the right amount of explosions and things falling down around you to exemplify the destruction of that a third world war would bring without getting ridiculous. Each level has a different atmosphere from the last based on what had happened in the last level or the mise-en-scene of the current level. New York drops you in the middle of a fast-paced shootout through the streets, while Paris is an eerie, ghostown-like environment. Some sounds and textures may be recycled but this does not ruin anything at all. The guns have more of a 'feel' to them than in any shooter i've played. They look and sound lethal and really get you feelinf like youre firing the gun (my personal favourite being the M4A1, it just sounds so good). I don't understand most of the criticism of the visuals, they're good, no worse than any other game out there and are superior to other MW games. Despite the short campaign I did come out of it feeling satisfied because although it only took around 5 hours to finish, they were a damn good five hours and I had no problem moving on to higher difficulties just to have an excuse to play it again. Not only that, the MP and spec ops provide plenty of replatability. Spec Ops has two types now: Missions and Survival. Survival is infinitely replayable and i've actaully never got bored of playing it. Playing with different people creates a different experience and 16 levels is plenty to choose from, and despite not making new levels especially for it the MP maps also fit playing survival (actually better in some cases). The levelling up system to unlock upgrades and weapons for use in survival mode also adds an element which encourages you to play on even beyond the fact that its just genuinely fun, especially with a friend. The missions are more of a mixed bag with some being better than others but generally being very well designed. Most of them become incredibly hard (for me anyway) on veteran difficulty and so there's many many hours more gameplay in trying to complete them; additionally, what's not to like about being able to just pick a mission and jump in to a juggernaut suit anytime you like?

The multiplayer has plenty of flaws. But every single MP i've played has for the first month or so and there's not too many compared to, say, Resistance 3. Some of the maps are a little poorly designed and too labyrinthine or just having too many, too good camping spots. However the leveling up system is a large improvement on any other MW game. The weapon levels add an extra element to how you have to improve your guns and proficiencies allow further customisation of your class. The prestige shop is a nice little touch aswell. The perks are more balanced than ever before with some countering others and needing to be used more tactically than usual. The new killstreak system with support, assault and specialist packages allow newer players to stand more of a chance and allow there to be a greater variation of killstreaks available while also rewarding players who can get the higher level killstreaks with worthwhile rewards.

I am really disappointed in the people that gave this game 0's. No game should deserve that. Everyone is a tyrant for doing it. I love Modern Warfare 3

This game is sad. They use the same engine as past 2 MWs. Its just a copy and paste, IW didnt work hard on this game at all. Theres just a few new perks here and there and killstreaks, but not much of a improvement

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
