This game is always the same no change, Activion mocks us. For this price the game is completely useless. in 2011 he could get out a better game, but not he prefers to release a game every month!

I feel angry at most people because they come into this game with such a negative attitude always have been and such a bias towards battlefield they really don't stop to appreciate what is in front of them. I have beenI feel angry at most people because they come into this game with such a negative attitude always have been and such a bias towards battlefield they really don't stop to appreciate what is in front of them. Despite no massive revolutionary game engine, or no relatively new features, MW3 will draw you in more than Battlefield ever did. I am a huge fan of singleplayer modes. I have been playing COD since the second one came out and always have enjoyed the stories that INFINITY WARD told (no offense Treyarch). MW3 does such a great job, along with any other game in the modern warfare series, of producing villians you truly hate, badass comrades and friends you hate to see die. The levels are intense as always and usually always have that "OMG that was cool" element in each one. These elements are what make COD's singleplayer so much better than BF3's. I didn't care for my marine in Iran the same way i did for Soap, Price and Delta Force. Overall i felt the singleplayer was a success. Co-op is fun too. Infinity Ward and Activision have learned from Treyarch's Zombie mode, that endless waves of enemies means endless waves of fun. The new survival mode uses this mode and should provide the player with hours of entertainment. And if one gets bored, you can always jump over to the mission based modes for a even more fun. Multiplayer, will as always be the mainstay for most. While not as innovative as other games (cough BF3) it takes the core formula that changed online gaming forever and improves upon it. Regardless of what people will say, next year at this time there will still be millions playing this game everyday. Most hardcore gamers seemed to have turned away from COD but they forget that COD isn't about the hardcore gamer, its about creating a game that is easy enough that anyone can get good at it. But complex enough that one can never seem to master it. Millions will buy this game and in the end will have played it more than any other online game this year. While I myself enjoy BF3's multiplayer more, the majority of the public will play Call of Duty. Overall, I feel this game has been put down by so many for so long that it isn't getting the attention it deserves. Infinity Ward has worked hard and long to create this series, they deserve the credit for the great work they have done over the years. Now we will live in a Treyarch COD world. Looking back people will look favorably on this game. A praise it deserves. Expand

It is what it is, tweaked and added to from previous versions. Not quite sure what the haters were expecting. Seems rather foolish of them to buy it given everyone knew what it would be like beforehand. Great fun and in the long run will be worth the outlay.

I think it's ridiculous that so many people are putting out so many negative reviews. Is the game perfect? Of course not! There is always things any developer can do better. There are things in every game that need to be fixed and to give out ZERO scores on this game is absurd. It's a war game! To be realistic means that maps need to be challenging to find sniper spots and hiding spots. I read reviews about a flowing map???!!!??? REALLY? Are you stupid? Just play the game and have fun instead of complaining about every silly little thing. The developers have come up with many different ways to enjoy countless hours of fun. Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward have made by far the BEST multi-player experience ever in a Call of Duty game, maybe even ever.

The multiplayer has been refined to the limit. All the people complaining about new features need to grow up. Just because this game doesn't feature new pro-pro-pro perks and is fair and that you are now forced to run around and leave your lonely corner. Just because you cant shoot people in 2 bullets and because your were amazing at a game that was unbalanced, and you suck now, means you need to adapt.

Besides my rant on the ranters, I would like to point out that the new Survival mode is a TREAT. It needs refinement in the future, but it is a terrific start to an amazing mode. It definitely challenges Zombies mode, and in my opinion beats it in terms of fun.

Lets face it. Waves are better than rounds.

Modern Warfare 3 has an unbelievable multiplayer, Spec-Ops, and Survival mode. Campaign is weak, but is a great addition.

In the past, we used to buy games for a decent multiplayer. Now, I buy Call of Duty for a great multiplayer and a decent campaign.

Sure, campaign is weak, graphics haven't really improved, but who cares? This is by far the most fun i've EVER had playing a game. I will be playing this game for months. Survival mode gave it that kick that it really needed for a good review. IW and Sledge, dont be upset. Next time around (MW4) people will have adapted to the game style presented in MW3, and you will be amazed by the reception in the future.

The Campaign continues the story of Soap, Price, and Makarov from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. It's a pretty good finale for the last Modern Warfare and I, personally, thoroughly enjoyed Blood Brothers and the flashbacks from the previous two games. The Multiplayer is okay. The spawn points are horrible and the players are just as bad as ever, but the new game mode Kill Confirmed is surprisingly good. There only seems to be one over-powered thing in the Multiplayer, Assassin Pro. The Spec-Ops Missions are more for people who want more of the Campaign but the Survival version of Spec-Ops is wonderful. It could be better with the inclusion of Akimbo attachments to Handguns and Machine Pistols, more of a perk selection, and 4 player co-op instead of just 2. Overall it's decent for an FPS and good for a Call of Duty. Rent it if you're an FPS fan and get it if you're a Call of Duty fan, whether or not you have the previous Modern Warfare games, it's still good. 8.5/10 Expand

The same broken Multiplayer, the same try-hard 4 hour long story, and soon the same overpriced map packs. It is truly a disgrace, the way Activision keeps confirming their greediness, and lack of interest for their customers. This hasn`t bitten them yet, seeing as a lot of COD-players are very, very young. Too young to stand up and say "I will no longer let myself be milked dry like a cow. I will no longer let this company ruin gaming by repackaging the same game over and over again, therefore being a bad example for the rest". And even when the fans are a bit older, they still have ridiculously low standards, considering they like replaying the same broken game, over and over, paying 60 Dollars every year.

Because of this greediness and laziness, COD MW3 deserves a 0, but I`ll give Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games 1 point for the effort.

I bought this game for the only reason that all of my friends are playing this everyday and I thought it could be a way to have a good time with them but I was wrong. The single player campaign is simply terrible and I died in one day in multiplayer more often than one month with Dark Souls. I really cant figure it out where is the fun. You start running to somewhere on the map to be killed by who knows who and listening to 13 years old boys offending one each other. Im totally out of that violence in the games discussion, but parents should pay more attention for the unbelievable talking that you are forced to hear in this game, it is a new kind of violence extremely disturbing: racist jokes were the lightest thing that I heard in two or three days. Even with a team mode, they never play like a team. Resistance 3 multiplayer, just to mention one, is a game far superior than that. Now I can see that CoD is a market phenomenon that brings money to the industry and it is only that. Just to reinforce: nothing new in the warfront. Expand

But when it appears that the new IW and Sledgehammer took a cue from Medal of Honor (2010) in their multiplayer creation instead of carefully constructing balanced, strategic maps, you better believe fans will be irate because that's solely why people play COD: MULTIPLAYER. That is how nearly five years ago why this franchise became so well-known and adorned: innovative features in their multiplayer game. It is so apparent that the new people in the MW franchise had no experience in creating playable maps. It's so bad that even Black Ops's maps shine in comparison. I remember hearing that these maps were specifically designed to eliminate campers. You just have to laugh and scratch your head considering the various rooms and narrow corridors noobz can fork out. The quality of maps gradually declined after each subsequent installment. I think if the new developers want to redeem themselves from their ill-fated multiplayer design, they need to analyze and learn from the genius of IW 1.0 and understand what it takes to make truly competitive maps in order to make a QUALITY map pack instead of spray and pray mazes--because that's essentially what the new maps are! I seriously doubt BF3 fanboys are flaming this board too. It's really that bad, people. If the newbie developers, and Activision for that matter, want to continue the franchise, they better take a cue from the original IW and NOT TREYARCH in terms of multiplayer maps. Expand

I lowered my expectations for MW3 because of how Black Ops turned out. Both being fun games, but hugely flawed due to Activision being so money hungry and not letting the developers really stretch their legs. From the time of release all I've played is multiplayer, and although it is addictive as its predecessors, it is addictive for the wrong reasons. Some of the reviews for this game say "more unlockables are needed, give me more" but that is the problem. There are way too many options with kill streaks/point streaks/perks that it takes the real fun out of what most people love about FPS. Take Battlefield 3 for example (ya, i know, direct competition), many improvements were made, some little ones coming straight from COD, but they left the core of the game play intact without "whoring out" the franchise and most importantly UPDATED AND IMPROVED GRAPHICS. As one reviewer mentioned the firings at IW being the root of this issue, I say it has little to do with that, and more to do with the addition of Sledgehammer. This game has less server issues than the last few releases, but there is far too much inconsistency with "hitmarkers" (shooting opponents with full clips and no results) and the general feel of shooting ANY gun in this game feels over tweaked, away from how the other MW's felt and the result is obvious; Sledgehammer tried to do too much.

Although my points here were spotty here, that is a direct result of what they have done to the gamers, and with this franchise. And even though I'll be labeled a hypocrite, i'll still be giving this game chance after chance due to many friends having the game and give the developers more chances to make updates to improve the gameplay.

The Kill Confirmed mode really adds a challenging twist to TDM. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a fast paced shooter and for once it looks to be on par with the 360 version of the game. It's simply the best. The campaign plays out like a tent pole Hollywood action film. Huge set pieces, interesting characters, immersive combat and a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. There are several moments, especially one, if you have played all three games where you will be shocked and saddened. A fitting end to a fine story. The multiplayer is however the main reason to jump on any COD game. I swear it's the only time I still talk to some of my college friends. The new features, especially the support kill streak addition, makes the game much more accessable to main stream gamers like myself. The maps are fluid and fun. And the competition is top notch. There are some buggy issues with setting up matches but pretty much all games launch with bugs like that these days. They will be patched in time and the experience will get even better. Enjoy the game and find me online under gamer tag Angel200 if you liked my review (or if you hated it and want to shoot me - in MP of course). This is the best COD game to date. And if you are a fan this will be money very well spent. Expand

With that being said, MW3 is a fitting sequel to the last outing by Infinity Ward. Single player is as frantic and cinematic as ever. I felt like I was playing through a Michael Bay movie. Of course, if you are expecting something more Oscar-worthy, you obviously don't know the franchise very well. Overall, it was a lot of fun. The spec ops mode of MW2 has returned with some enhancements. Eat your heart out Zombies, because IW has conjured up the fun with survival mode. It's a wholly different experience when the enemies can shoot back. Multiplayer has a lot more depth with the addition of 2 new game modes, Kill Confirmed and Team Defender. The weapon leveling system is a nice touch, too. The matchmaking servers are still just as problematic as ever, although I'm not getting a lot of lag once I'm in a match. Most of the issue is with getting into the match to begin with. I've also had problems with getting separated when I'm playing online in a party with friends. Graphically, MW3 looks so much better than Black Ops. I didn't realize how much I missed the weather effects until I played through a rain storm on one of the maps. I won't say this is the prettiest game ever, but I did feel immersed in the game environment than with the last Call of Duty. For those who are complaining that IW is using the same engine from MW2 with no improvements, I have to disagree. These developers are obviously learning more about getting more out of the same game engine. Many game makers use the same game engine for multiple outings. It's like saying that the graphics can't have improved because it's still the same ol' PS3. I'm really enjoying Modern Warfare 3 and I can't wait to see what IW comes up with for DLC. Expand

All the maps are so vertical and have the same dirty look. There are so many corners that now getting caught in a good firefight is a thing of the past. None of these maps are memorable and can't even come close to classics such as Cliffside, Eder Dam, Terminal, Crash and Backlot.

They've used the same in game icons, no new death animations, same killcam and just basically the same audio only boosted with advanced clarity and maybe more treble and bass because the guns do sound a tad more realistic.

The campaign itself was just a Michael Bay movie. So many explosions and action but most of it for no good reason except for it to break silence. So, MW3 has it's good points and that is familiarity, it basically is a CoD game. But, it's a CoD game I already own. This game could has easily been a DLC map pack for MW2 and because of that fact and the fact I paid full game price, I have to give it a low score.

Please Activision, wake up and stop recycling your ideas. We're bored of it and we don't appreciate paying that much for poor quality, especially with money problems in this day and age.

If you've never played Call of Duty before, then you might be suitably impressed with the game. For anyone who has played an FPS in the last 6 years, this game bring absolutely nothing to the table. First, let's address the steaming turd that is the campaign mode -- If this game was released by another company under a different name, these "professional" reviews would be singing a radically different tune. Each task in the campaign revolves around moving your character to a point on the map that triggers the endlessly respawning monster closet to shut off. There is zero strategy involved and freelancing is actively discouraged via small game areas and having to press a button at certain map point in order to continue. I don't mind my campaigns being a bit on the rails, as wandering aimlessly wondering what I'm supposed to be doing isn't any fun, but this game is so tightly held on the rails as to be no fun at all, unless you are a fan fan of running headlong into enemy fire with no thought at all, in which case, you'll probably love this game. Multiplayer, the supposed stregnth of this game, adds little to the tried and true formula that has worked so well in the past. While one might expect that from a mappack or DLC, charging full-price for a glorified map-pack doesn't sit right with me. Couple that with charging players for doing what all other games do for free (Call of Duty Elite), and you have what amounts to a giant cash grab.

Since the last edition of Modern Warfare had rampant lag/cheating issues that went unchecked, I hold out little hope that this year's version will fare much better. If Infinity Ward et. al. actually offer some support to the multiplayer community who don't pay $60 a year over and above the cost of the game, I might be inclined to bring the score up to a 4 (4 out of 5 for mulitplayer and 0 out of 5 for singleplayer).

Bottom line, experienced games should avoid this game like the plague. By purchasing this game, you are tacitily endorsing crappy game design and encouraging companies to keep putting out bad products.

Mw3 is basically a map pack, all in all it uses an outdated engine, with very minor tweaks to make it seam that there is a difference between it and that of MW2, but as matter of fact, there really isn't much of a difference, the multiplayer is the same as any other COD title, shares the same formula of: 1- Kill, 2- get kill streak, 3- use killstreak to kill more people, 4- repeat.

Lots of unfair reviews and ratings. MW3 is a great game with tons of new features. Great multiplayer experience, fun new game modes, point streaks, etc. survival mode is excellent and the single player is a nice wrap up to MW2.

MW3 might be more of the same with minor improvements over MW2, but it doesn't deserve this low of a score. If anything BLOPS deserves this score for being such a piece of ...

While most are playing MP, the SP campaign is probably my favorite of the series.

people will always love to hate Call of Duty. they complain that the campaign is too short, that the plot is too grandiose, that the multiplayer is just a rehashed version of the last game's, and that it adds nothing to the genre. This hasn't hurt CoD in the slightest, and MW3 is going to be a huge hit. And it deserves to. Sure, battlefield 3 is prettier, but it comes nowhere close to the pure FPS mastery that makes CoD such a juggernaut. The campaign far surpasses the vaguely interesting BF3 campaign and, thankfully, blows the stupid and confusing MW2 campaign out of the water, surpassing the surprisingly strong Black Ops to fall, imo, just short of the first Modern Warfare and Bioshock as the best FPS i've played. The scale is bigger, and while that's not always better, MW3 thankfully avoids a michael bay feel while still having over-the-top set pieces around the globe in the throes of WWIII. But nobody gives two **** about single player except for me, so multiplayer: its pretty **** good. they've made some changes, and while it doesn't seem to be enough for many people, i really don't see much point in ignoring what's widely considered to be one of the best multiplayer experiences ever and trying to reinvent the wheel for the sequel. spec ops, which i've just barely played, is also a ton of fun. Bottom line: haters gonna hate. But MW3, even with all the hype surrounding it, is a fantastic game and completely worth the money. Yes, it runs on an old engine. Yes, the multiplayer feels very similar to MW2. But if you can get over these two flaws (and one of them isn't really even a flaw, seeing as people still play MW2's multiplayer today), then you will be rewarded with a very, very good game. Expand

This is crazy, I can't believe all the disappointed BF3 Fan Boys that came on here to trash MW3. I heard about the incredibly unbalanced user score that MW3 has received on Metacritic from IGN, and decided to create a Metacritic account just to give an unbiased and objective review and score. And to help even out this Very low score for an obviously above average game, I mean sure MW3 is not perfect but 3.1 out of ten is bull***t. First off I would like to state that I am not a COD Fan Boy and not a little kid, I'm a hardcore gamer that has been playing games since the early nineties. I play all manner of games on PC and PS3 and have also bought MW3's main competitor BF3. I have played about 30 hours on BF3's Multiplayer and have a 3.30 Kill/Death Ratio so am no noob when it comes to FPS. Even so I was disappointed with the overall products of both Battlefied 3 (which got boring faster than expected) and MW3. In the end I scored MW3 8 out of 10. It is very similar to MW2 but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The Singleplayer was OK, similar to the last two Modern Warfare's (overall uneventfull and boring with only some good bits) Spec Ops Missions are fun and exciting, especially if you have a friend to play them with and Spec Ops New Survival Mode is great addictive fun and a good addition to the series, I would say, and this is just my opinion that this is better than Zombies (playing with a mic is essential). Than you have Multiplayer which love it or hate it is pretty much the same as MW2 but with Strike Pakages, different killstreaks and different variations on old perks, some new guns and some new maps and game modes. Noob tubing, Nuke Killstreak and One Man Army Perk are gone but Quikscoping and Drop Shoting are still the order of the day. Also Spawn Deaths, Hit Detaction and Lag Issues can become a bit annoying. But with a half Decent Connection, a bit of skill and a touch of class you should be able to overcome these shotcomings to have one of the sweetest FPS Online Gaming experiences you can have at this time. I won't lie somtimes the multiplayer can have you screaming at the TV about the injustice of the last 5 Cheap deaths that made no sense whatsoever. But with a bit of patience even without the Elite Functions you get to know the layout of the maps, the spawn points, choke points, best class layouts for specific situations and maps. You will receive better weapons and figure out which strike package work best for you, and then your experience will start getting better. And to everyone saying COD is unbalanced that's BS, because there is a strategy and counter for everything your adversaries can throw at you. So after everything is said and done what it really comes down to is skill (and who has more of it). Overall, taken all the features packed into this one game and the weeks and possibly months of enjoyment that can be had, it's impossible for me to see how this game can receive a score below an 8 let alone a 5. If your a fan of FPS or games in general this a great addition to your game collection. Definately not MW2 DLC, and for only $50 to $100 are you that poor/cheap to complain about purchasing a great game and depriving yourself of fun just because a bunch of pathetic PC BF3 Fanboy Sheep/Followers decided to flood this site with negative reviews. MW3 is the best one yet, and is a fitting end to the Modern Warfare storyline. Nevermind the blatant negative reviews, this game is a step above Black Ops and is even slightly better than MW2. The funny thing is that the people here that are rating the title as zero are the one who are still playing the game and loving every min of it.

OK, graphics are outdated. OK, the campaign is ultra short (but effective). But the multi is everything a MW fan is looking for: addictive, challenging and fun. Nothing new in this MW 2.5 but enough to be the game of the year in this category. It doesn't deserve a 10 but it doesn't deserve a score under 5...so it's a 10 to level up the score.

I don't think it is fair to score down a game just because it has some things that we may not like, in order to do a good review, you have to take in consideration what has been done to the gameplay, graphics, sound effects, textures and most importantly, the game experience itself after playing all of their options. If you do not like it and you have something against Activision, don't buy it. If you really want to check it out but you are unsure of it because of the scores, buy it and play it a little bit and if it was not for you, just sell it on ebay. Don't let the rest make your decission to decide whether you will buy this game . I am proud to say that I spend money on buying this game and it has been one of the most amazing experiences i've had while playing videogames. It's good to know that such a huge company is still taking the time to listen to the fans and maintaining most of the cool aspects from the old games and always putting something new on them. Expand

Modern Warfare 3, more like Modern Warfare 2.1. Adding some new maps and guns is not a new title. It's a very expensive expansion pack. Activision better stop trying to ride the Call of Duty wave and get IW to produce an actual successor to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

I think the game is incredibly fun. Multiplayer is addicting, yet frustrating at times but I blame myself for just being awful. Survivor mode is a great mode and presents endless hours* of gameplay. I admit the campaign is short, but it seems to just be an unfortunate truth about most shooters, the campaign is merely an add on, where as the multiplayer is where the addiction sets in. I actually never had MW2 at its release, but played a lot a month ago because I was curious as to how similar MW3 would be to its predecessor, sadly it is dangerously identical. I don't know how all those programming and other thing work, but as far as I can tell this is just a map pack dlc. For me, I haven't spent years playing MW2 waiting for this release, if I had I am sure I would be even more upset. But from vantage, fun game and to me worth the money because of the amount of time I have/will play it. Perhaps others should wait for used or cheaper copies in the future. Expand

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.
