But scripted and epic campaign is the same each year, the game engine Frostbite is below 2.0 MW multiplayer overwhelms me too, small maps without cars, no planes, no helicopters, cars indestructible and the same with the buildings

What a waste of money. You expect some sort of evolution in a series, Some of the same glitches in this game were in MW2, they just copy and pasted the game engine and spent a day tops making new maps. Save your $60 and buy MW2 in the bargain bin. Most dissapointing game in history should be the new ad slogan.

I've been raped. The campaign is disgustingly short. I have a busy life, I played an hour early hours Tuesday morn, 2 hours tues night and 1 hour wed night and about an hour Thursday night to find I was on the last mission. That's like 5 hours. I felt raped even if the story was like a Micheal Bay film. Sorry guys let down. At 44 bucks I expect more. The gripping story is negated by howI've been raped. The campaign is disgustingly short. Also your world hopping so much you can never keep a handle on the story, it's not very coherent. I loved the action and I love the scripted stunts. That is where the coolness ended. I played through on normal and it felt like very easy. Enemies had next to no ai. I found myself running though a room of enemies fireing at me and turning round and just pining owning them without a second thought. There is absolutely no challenge in the campaign what's so ever. Remember Chernobyl and the funfair bit, how hardcore that could seem. None of this here, you are nannied though the game so as just to keep the pace and hopefully the gullible are blown away by bells and whistles. Infinity ward must think we are thick. Thinking they can exchange challenge with Hollywood glamour and stunts. Sorry not buying it. The blind could complete this auto aiming joke of a fps. Even Duke nukem forever requires you to aim and that's in the bargain bin. The multiplayer is made up of poorly designed maps that are reminiscent of a garden maze. Every area is a clostrophobics nightmare. There are no opens spaces as such it's box after box of personal space invasion. I've tried so hard to love this game but I just can't. I'm not a hater I queued up at midnight to get this and came away gutted. It's just a frag rest online due to bottle kneck maps. It's so predictable that you can guarentee after 1 kill someone is already on top of you and taking you out. Or your getting spawn raped I HOPE RESPAWN ENTERTAINMENT deliver on their promise to destroy their own baby because this game is a bastard child of activision/blizzard. Infinity ward you have lost your soul. This is a cash machine nothing more. Go buy Skyrin that's an excellent game. Epic fail on mw3 , and no I'm not a hater and no I'm not being paid by ea to write this I'm just genuinely gutted that this game is so poor. Bollocks to the critic scores. I bought it due to those scores and was amazed at the user reviews. But in hind sight the user reviews show the true picture. Rent this. Dont bother buying it. Fail Expand

First I would like to point out that in no way is this game innovative, but to call this game mw 2.5 or 1.3 is a rash, bold, and incorrect statement. Anyway, i digress to my actual review of this game. I will be breaking this down into the three categories Infinity Ward has given us, as well as certain criteria people expect from a review such as graphics, game play, etc.

The first portion every person should go through (or at least the one I always start with in every new cod title) is the single player campaign. This campaign is fantastic in every sense, though a bit short. But this complaint is a small one considering I blasted through the main story line in about 4.5 hours on regular difficulty. But its length really isn't a flaw if you consider that a game that looks for the biggest adrenaline fill it can possibly dish out, while at the same time trying to not be numbing to the player. This campaign finally wraps up the storyline in a very meaningful and conclusive way and its a blast getting there.

Then comes the return of spec ops, which I enjoy substantially more than Nazi zombies (sorry zombies have become been there done that in our culture, only thing i enjoy with zombies anymore is the walking dead). Anyway I can't wait to be able to play with mode properly with a friend instead of getting paired with some moron online. In addition, a second game type has been added to spec ops which is called survivor. Survivor is more or less the COD take on horde mode from the gears of war series, and it works really well here, though admittedly I do find myself getting bored after one of two rounds.

And finally the monster that is the cod multiplayer. People who hate on it will continue to hate and people that love the fast paced gun on gun arcade style shooter will continue to love it. There is nothing innovative from the (and I don't know why people forget this) original innovation, but it still works great and now with no commando or one man army nube tubes, the multiplayer brings cod into a new world of people complain but not all about the same thing. I will be the first to admit that there are some guns that are slightly overpowered, such as the type 95 or the much hated ump45, but I'm not nearly as annoyed with these weapons as I was with certain weapons from previous cod titles. Overall, I'm having a blast with the multiplayer and anyone who isn't, probably sucks at it (I'm a firm believer that anyone who **** about cod should be forced to post their k/d ratio, so at least we know why).

To wrap things up I'll briefly go over the specs of the game. Are the graphics innovative? No. But they looked damn good, nearly photo-realism, 5 years ago and they still do. Any game that can run at 60 frames per second while having so much crap going on in the background and look this good ON A SIX YEAR OLD CONSOLE, is doing something right in my book. The controls are as tight and responsive as one should expect from a cod game, thatâ

you have many factors to find the best . story , graphics , gameplay , musics , sounds , multiplayer , hype (!) ...
let's talk about story ! it's not like HALO ! so you'll not face a large amount of informations in 2 hours and say Wow it's epic !
it's not like BF3 that put you in the story that you've seen it 1000 time before !
it's Modern Warfare so you'll see real places , real people , real politics and of course real characters ! the plot is the same as Modern Warfare 1 and 2 but the difference is Revelations and characters endings .
let's talk about gameplay ! just like MW1 & MW2 gameplay is where this game beat its rival . fast action gameplay that increase adrenaline alongside with cinematic scenes will satisfy you of spending 60 $ for this game !
sounds and musics are brilliant and i can't say anything bad about them !
graphics are good enough for a 2011 released game and have many improvements from Modern Warfare 2 and 60fps is where this game is beat its rival in graphics (on consoles) .
multiplayer is the best in series so you can finish the story mode in 5 hours and go for multiplayer ! but you have my word , you can't finish multiplayer even in 500 hours ! it's Call Of Duty ! there is no need to say every part is at it's best like maps , perks , modes , weapon customize ...
at last i can say there are many games out there but there are a few perfect games so don't spend 60 $ for the first game you'll see in the markets !
Modern Warfare 3 is the best FPS in 2011 , no doubt . but i think it's the best FPS ever !

On the back of this you can unload a full magazine in to players backs whilst there unaware and they do not register. Looking at the replays they've been shooting you forever.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is certainty not among those. It is, simply put, a Call of Duty game. It is a step up from Modern Warfare 2 EASILY, and a step up from Black Ops in many ways. The Single-Player Campaign is a conclusion to the Modern Warfare Series, and is quite satisfying all things considered. It's a First Person Shooter, and I got what I wanted out of it.

The Multiplayer is where many people seem to have a debate. I found it to be of high quality, if quite similar to Modern Warfare 2. It 'IS' infact a Call of Duty game, so it is understandable that it would follow the same formula as the previous ones. It added a few new features, and some new game modes, as well as a new coat of paint.

All-in-all, I do not feel cheated. I do not believe that it is "Modern Warfare 2.5." I believe that it is MW3, and that it is a fun game, and worth picking up to anyone who enjoyed Modern Warfare 2.

I can't descrive how call of duty kill the videogame industry. Masterpieces go to hell with american marines year by year. the poor lesson of all of this is that other companies want to make a game like this, and that's very sad.. and people buy it like sheeps. The only good thing of this game is that ''modern war" but we see it in cod 4, and after that and world at war, call of duty goes to hell.

I read in a review about how everyone here has given MW3 such a bad rating, the article basically said its just due to a protest and the game really isn't that bad. It basically said MW3 is what we all asked for (the same) yet now we are complaining about it. I have to disagree that its in protest because its the same game and we wanted something completely different. The reason I do not like MW3 as much as any other COD title is because it didn't progress in development. They made the same mistakes during release, they didn't use what they have learned from the other games at all, and most of all even though MW2 was overall better than black ops (in how polished it was and the story) black ops still had evolved over previous versions, I didn't feel like I went backwards. MW3 uses the same game engine from 2 years ago the same exploits that were FIXED in black ops are back again. Also the maps are no where near as fun as previous games, there is no tiny map (rush, nuketown) and no really big map which are generally the stand out maps in the games that everyone always votes to play. When asked to vote for a map in this game, I don't as they are all the same and there is very little variety between the current maps offered in the game. Expand

It maybe not be the greatest shooter ever and it really hasn't changed the game play at all but it has improved little things such as hit detection, balance of weapons and kill streaks and has even attempted to add totally new game mode types. The menu set up is clean and user friendly which is great considering Black Ops' was a mess. The story mode is also rewarding to those who actually paid attention to the earlier modern warfare games, and it flows together unlike MW2's story. If you are looking for a refined fast paced FPS, then look no further. Call of Duty MW3 offers a stunning campaign and a load of other features such as multiplayer to keep you entertained.

Although the developers choose to use similar technology to the last game, it delivers a virtually bug free experience with loads of content that still looks very good compared to many other games.

The game offers a lot of content: A full fledged campaign, two Spec Ops mode variations and the famous multiplayer mode. The campaign is quite brief lasting only 6-7 hours, but the other two modes offer a great amount of replay value. The Spec Ops mission mode is a great amount of fun, especially with two people working together. There is also the Spec Ops survival mode, where you work with another player (or by yourself) to survive as long as possible to get high scores until the enemies eventually over power you.

Last but not least there is the multiplayer mode, which can easily give you up to 100+ hours of game play. The game play is similar to previous installments but offers a variety of different tools at your disposal to change up your strategies. The most significant change is the revamped killstreak system: The strike packages. There are three different kinds and each work differently, so you have a better chance of setting yourself up with killstreaks that suit you the most. You can get your killstreaks by completing objectives, destroying enemy killstreaks, or just going around killing opponents. The map design is very different from previous installments, meaning you must change your strategies a bit to be more successful.

Overall, this game is about as good as the series could possibly get at this point. The gameplay may be very similar, but it is nearly perfected. I would highly recommend this game; even if you are a seasoned veteran or a new player. A NOTE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS: Understand this game has been under fire from a variety of different internet users, therefore the game has been falsely rated. Take caution while reading user reviews as a majority of them are filled with false information with the sole purpose of taking the user score down.

Really don't know why people are slating this game because its similar to MW2. Of course it is, it's a COD game. If you were that stupid to realise that before you bought it, you deserve to waste your money. MW3 is a good game in itself regardless of whether its 'just like MW2'!!

I have been playing this game since it came out,
I love how the guns are so balanced compared to MW2,
it's not just a DLC to MW2, the feeling of the game is totally different,
my guess for so many negative ratings is because all those kids can't afford it,
so they build up rage to the game, wich is unfair for those awesome people who

I particular by ridiculous kill streaks, over powered weapons and bad campaigns. However, after hearing good things I decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. Sure it looks old and a lot (and I mean A LOT) is simply recycled material från MW and MW2 (whole buildings and environments) but I do like it. It actually creates a feeling of nostalgia, and they've managed to bring out a lot of the best of the two previous MW iterations. I consider CoD4 to be the best FPS I've ever played regarding both campaign and multi player, and this recalls some of the memories. MW3 doesn't reach the same heights - too much is recycled and you can never top the original without being original yourself - but this is what MW2 should have been like. And the quick pace, quick weapon reaction that has been CoD:s trademark is still impact. The story is fast paced and we get an end to the cheesy WWIII scenario. Nothing too deep. But it executes well where you feel the interaction most of the time. On veteran it's not as challenging as for example Black Ops. As a matter of fact it's rather easy. The infinite re-spawn isn't as ridiculous. But still, the few spots where you have to man for example a machine gun and get hide nor drop it as hordes of enemies storm towards you, can still be frustrating. And from time to time you get pushed around by your stupid allies (who wont recognize an enemy standing next to them), run in to a few invisible walls and are being re-spawned in cross-fire that kills you before you even get a chance to prone. The pointless collection of intel is of course also still there (would be so hard to let us get for example a new perk, weapon or such for it?). The multi player has improved and thanks to a new perk system is more versatile. The new (yet copied from other games) "Kill confirmed" adds a new dimension. Some of the maps remind me of (and are most probably recycled from) old MW and MW2 maps. Which is a good thing, because most maps are actually quite good with some nice variation. They don't feel as similar as the did on MW2 most of the times and not as anonymous and dull as Black Ops was most of the time. Not to forget special ops, with the new Survival mode. Best played with two players, it feels like something that will last for some time. There are some 16 or 20 maps and they can offer quite some resistance at veteran. All in all a good game. Major flaws are the outdated graphics, yet another rather short campaign (though mostly well executed) and the fact that nothing much is new. Even though you recycle a lot of good old stuff, when creating a new game there should be more innovation present. But I will most likely be playing this a lot the coming year or two. Expand

The single player isn't quite as exciting as MW2 but that is largely because we are coming to a point where there isn't much they can do to surprise us anymore. I would be happy if they used the Elite service to just keep releasing map packs for the next two years to give them more development time, especially if they continued to tweak the game itself to fix any bugs that are found. My main actual problem with this game is the lack of an install for the PS3. Allowing an install would greatly help with the occasional framerate drops that happen, and just introduce more of an overall smoothness. Thankfully the drops are extremely rare so it doesn't typically affect the gameplay experience. My other problem has to do with the map design for *some* of the maps. Even in objective based gametypes, some maps feature nothing but spawning in front of enemies simply because of how tight and windy they are. There are no "safe zones." I also feel that the maps could have used a bit more vertical gameplay, but apparently that was a design decision to make playing on consoles easier. To me, that is deplorable. There are many other factors in multiplayer that could be tweaked to provide a more fair experience, and yet they probably picked the worst way to change it. Adding the Support killstreak package and allowing objectives count toward them was good enough on its own, in my opinion.

Still, these setbacks can't stop people from playing the addictive multiplayer. It is still the best shooter in terms of soldier vs soldier. If you want vehicles, get Battlefield. If you want to just shoot someone in the face, this is still the best series. To me, that is largely a reflection of how far behind most other game developers are when such a diluted market still has only one real choice for FPS multiplayer.

You spend time using a weapon which unlocks proficiencies that improve your weapons performance. There are 16 maps. They seem fairly predictable and conservative in layout. The maps direct the action appropriately while avoiding confusion and cluster. The art direction of the maps make it feel like there is good variety and that I am not playing the same map all the time. The kill streaks have been overhauled to balance the gameplay and allow you to tailor a play style that is very unique to you. You can play an offensive role, supportive, or more of a lone wolf role. The engine the game is running on is showing its age, but the gameplay is still as addicting as ever. Its nothing overly innovative but its a nicely refined title in the series.

MW3, despite being very accomplished, and indeed a great deal of fun, nonetheless seems to be lacking in distinct features over previous iterations of COD. As such, I feel 8 to be a fair score, it's still a marvelous package for the price, the one player may not be to my exact tastes, but the hours you can pass online certainly make up for this.
A few issues would relate to this said multiplayer experience. While I love that they have introduced a less one track focus for streaks and bonuses in the online games (support, assault etc), there still remain some issues.
Primarily for someone like myself, the lack of a buffer from the seriously good players out there when you first boot up the game can be very frustrating. You feel as though your experience of death, respawn, death respawn is never ending at times. Equally, added to this can be the occasionally ridiculous levels of killstreak bonuses people pick up. To have to think carefully about one attack helicopter can provide a refreshing amount of strategic thought to a match... to have tons of things in the air shooting and bombarding the hell out of you you as you spawn provides a sort of random anarchy that makes you feel no matter your skill you are going to perish at this point in the game.
Anyway, to end on a more positive note. Undoubtedly a very good game indeed, for both fans of the series, and to those looking to either delve in to marathon online sessions or just dip in and out. Not the freshest game out there given it doesn't move mountains to evolve after COD: BO, but probably more an indictment of how good this series has been at providing a slightly arcadey FPS experience for the past few years.

A sequel is supposed to be little tweaks, new story, new maps / areas and maybe a new mode. All of the above series do that, yet CoD gets the crap. It is a completely baseless argument! So stop just giving 0's, 1's and 2's because you haven't played it and THINK it is a map pack because it is not. Beside at least it isn't trying to milk you with online passes. I am by no means a super CoD lover or a Battlefield hater, I respect both, I just think what is being done here is a horrible injustice

Now down to the actual review. First off, the story. The story / campaign is actually the best so far, it doesn't try to make you a superhero who takes down an army, it is believable and challenging too, you are constantly feeling the pressure and unlike previous games the fighting style isn't stand in an area, kill, move on, stand in an area, kill, move on, it is fast moving, well paced and very fluid. It always elevates that WW3 feeling with a constant sense of dread and hopefulness, but at the same time it feels like you are running and keep on moving so that there is a chance to make it out of this war. The areas you go to in the game are all incredibly varied, so if it is 'just a map pack' then the campaign 'maps' are pretty damn good. The campaign took me 5h 54m on normal difficulty and it was the least convoluted, easy to follow and solid plot in the series so far. As far as the characters go, I am impressed. They are moving away from the silent type of character that is just a camera, hands and a gun that I hate. Yuri is a very interesting, specifically when you find out about his past towards the end of the game, character to play as and Soap and Price who you work with as Yuri are both very true to their characters in past iterations. The random soldiers that you play as in every game, are good in this one. They were the first ones I really actually cared about and liked playing as. Even if I did not like the specific soldier you play as who (***SEMI SPOILER does not get any real closure in the story SPOILER OVER***) but Sandman the leader is interesting and believable. You also play as a few characters for other levels which is decent as it puts you in an unexpected point of view sometimes. The series concludes very well and is the best campaign yet. 8.5/10 on the Campaign

The multiplayer is yes, still aim down your sight and shoot, and run and knife and killstreak and grenade and flash bang. But this game has the most (and highest quality) maps in any CoD game so far, the killstreaks are no longer unbalanced like the chopper gunner and the hind or the nuke and the new system of them going under 3 categories (Assault, Support and Specialist) is very good and innovative, while you may not spend much time deciding between Assault and support, you will when choosing between those and specialist which allows you every 2 kills to get an additional perk which is certainly very handy. The guns are great, you always have at least 5 options, 8+ for some, in the different gun classes. They are all balanced and you will usually find one or two in each gun type that you want, and the weapon leveling system whereby you level it by using it rather then needing to complete annoying challenges or buy it like in MW2 or Black ops, is much better. The leveling system itself is the same as it has been, which is a leveling system, you get exp, your bar goes up, you level, but now they actually reward you for prestiging. Lag is nearly non-existent and you will never find a larger and more permanent player base then this, 9/10 for the multiplayer.

I will quickly touch on the spec ops, it is (for the missions) the same as MW2, a bit more creative though. The survival mode was something I didn't want, I would rather nazi zombies, but it is actually very, very good. There is also matchmaking for both survival and the missions and split screen support which I LOVE. The missions do feel a bit meh sometimes though, 7.5 / 10 for spec ops.

Overall this game is great. If you want to wait for a price drop, then do, but it is worth giving a chance!

Score = 8.5+0.5 for split screen support (allows online play with a guest using split screen), great maps and great balancing as well as general easy to play, arcade style gameplay.

    OVERALL = 9/10

But nonetheless they got what they wanted, the number one largest entertainment launch in history once again. It's amazing how much money a company can make once they get the formula for an addictive game play down, at the same time it's also pretty sad. As long as their making this much money I doubt they'll change much in any future call of duty games so I am pretty sure this will be my last call of duty game. Expand

I know same ol' same ol' repeat of modern warfare 2, but that comment pretty much sums it up. The guns are the same, with the exception of a few pretty good guns. The maps are the same maze driven, dirt roads, burning cars, busted up buildings, --and with what seems to be caution from the creators-- few great spots like in MW2 and black ops (even with how bad that game was). The addition of the strike packages add a new twist, but realistically, along with the kill streaks, they are the same as MW2. One thing i really did like about the multiplayer is being able to carry streaks across deaths, being as how for me its kill, death, kill, death, and so on, and so on. (Also, drop zone is the one thing that kept me playing the game. On to campaign, overall it was an alright campaign, for the fact that it was fresh, and a little interesting, but always being on the brink of death isn't fun in any of the Call of Duty games. In spec ops, the addition of survival is pretty fun, but it is a poor attempt at combating Treyarch's/ Activision's zombies. The missions are a nice challenge. Expand

This game really doesn't deserve all of the hate it is getting. I'm 99% sure that most of the people hating on this game are just Battlefield fanboys. And yes, Battlefield 3 is a great game, this game is also quite good and has its own ups and downs, it certainly isn't the best game I've played and the formula is starting to feel dated. But it's still the same Call of Duty formula, and it's just a well made, good game. The singleplayer is rubbish, so I won't cover that in this review, I'll just cover the multiplayer. The multiplayer is fun. And is a lot better than the absolutely atrocious game that Call of Duty: Black Ops was. Infinity Ward knows their stuff. This game is quite different in terms of classes and the way you level up now. Now not only do you level up, but so do your weapons. And you unlock different weapon upgrades as you gain weapon levels. I think it's a smart system, and a lot better than the terrible COD points system in Black Ops. Also new is the gun proficiencies. No there is no Warlord perk or some other perks that I forgot about, now they are proficiencies. Instead of warlord you have the attachments proficiency which let's you have two attachments on your weapon. And now there is no equipment section. Not claymores and other detection triggered explosives are under lethal equipment(the same category as frag grenades) and tactical insertion and other things are under tactical equipment. The few improvements that Infinity Ward made are really good, and make the multiplayer a lot of fun. Spec ops has a new mode called survival. But to be honest it's not that great. You can only have two players in it and you can call in a squad of bots which aren't that great. The survival could've been a lot better, but it's a lot more addictive than zombies, because the levelling up adds a new reason to play. You still buy weapons, but you have to be at a certain level to actually be able to buy them. I think it's a great system on an only ok survival mode. The bottom line is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is no revolution, and it certainly isn't an incredible game. What it is is a fun, polished and well made shooter that will keep your attention for a while. The private matches work fantastically and it's a breeze to invite your friends to one. I don't LOVE MW3, but I certainly do like it. It's not my favourite game, but it's a game that I'll occasionally get out to play. Expand

Loved the game! I've noticed that people have been giving it a pretty poor rating. While it does remind you of things you may have player earlier in the game. It is still a very great game, with nice weapons and plenty of suspense. Being a Call Of Duty, Killzone, and Battlefield fan I would have to say I had fun playing it and enjoyed the close combat shooting.

A brown, boring, repetitive, poorly paced, poor production value, poorly made, poor story, stale, not challenging, bland characters, poor story, and insultingly short game was the biggest entertainment launch of all time, yet games like Resistance 3 aren't even given the time of day because Tommy **** is killing another brown person. Resistance 3 is a great shooter, it has no regenerating health, no cover mechanics and 10 weapon slots, capturing the spirit of the by-gone age of shooters (Half-Life 2, Serious Sam, Painkiller) with a great story, brilliant multi-player and a truly unforgettable story, is shunned because MW3 came out within the same few months. Now I don't hate MW3 because it's brown, boring, repetitive, poorly paced, has poor production value, is poorly made, has poor story, is stale, not challenging, with bland characters, a poor story, and only 7 hours long, I hate it because of what it represents. 'Hey, Infinity Ward, do you mind if I don't play the multi-player and instead play the single-player only?' 'No! Because we spent all our 6 months of hard work on changing the textures, character models and programming routines of COD4's multi-player and releasing it again in MW3, and if you only play the single-player you will realize that you spent $60 on a handful of multi-player maps, so do you mind if we force you to play multi-player?' 'Kind of do, Infinity Ward' ' I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of all my MONEY!' I can tell you this: there are two kinds of games in this putrid world of ours, those who are made mainly because developers thought it would be a lovely thing for everyone to play (Limbo, Bastion, Psychonauts) and those who are made mainly because the developers thought it would be lovely to add another ballroom to their golden money palace (BioShock 2, Dragon Age 2, Kane and Lynch 2). And you know how I can tell MW3 is in the second camp? Because it has a '3' on the end of it. It's a sequel to a sequel that never needed a sequel, it was fine on its own! But because Innovation to Infinity Ward is what cheeseburgers are to a lactose intolerant Hindu, we are left with this pile of old wank that got an 88 Metascore and we're all left scratching our head. You know, sometimes things our popular for a reason, because they're good, or because Will Smith is in it, but because MW3 is neither of those two, I am left wondering why MW3 was critically acclaimed and on top of that, was the biggest entertainment launch of all time. It saddens me, there have been so many better games, and it still would of angered me if MW3 was at least decent, because decent games don't deserve this much money thrown at them as if they are linked to the pneumonic plague, and after playing Resistance 3 and that Hard Reset thing which is like Painkiller if they chose one of Phillip K.Dicks most incomprehensible plots, it mystifies me how people think MW3 is a better shooter. They are designed so that no matter where you are in the map and no matter what direction you are facing, there is an enemy behind you. There is nowhere on any map where you don't have to be constantly spinning in circles in order to see an enemy coming. This is due to a combination of terrible map design and terrible spawn points. Enemies do not spawn with their teammates, and will instead spawn directly behind you. The guns are all the same. There is permanent lag, even with full bars. Once you hit level 20 you can pick the Specialist Strike Package. This has no killstreaks. Instead the more kills you get,the more perks you get. I recommend this for only the most expert of players. This package has no deathstreaks so making a comeback will be especially difficult. There are 2 new modes in the game that are really cool. Kill Confirmed is basically Team Deathmatch but you have to pick up these dogtags to confirm the kills. You can also pick up your own dog tag and deny the other teams kills. Team Defender is a fun twist on Capture the Flag. In Team defender the objective is to play keep away with the flag. The longer you have it the more points you get. That's what gave it a pulse. When you take away the manic elements that made multiplayer unpredictable and fresh every time around you're left with a giant lifeless corpse without a pulse. AND I will gladly spend another $60 on the next game in the series. I like the new formula seen in this trilogy and Black Ops with compelling story and great/crazy level design. I hope they keep doing it, and pray these idiots (bad reviewers) don't screw it up.
Story-wise, MW3 finishes out the trilogy well enough. I didn't find the story as epic as MW2 (D.C. and White House), but MW3 did have improved graphics and some great level design (Paris). In MW3, the graphics are better and I don't know how else to explain it, but shooting felt heavier, or grittier.
MW3 does feel like MW2, and it's supposed to. I think a lot of peoples problem with the game is actually that they have finished out the major story line. In MW1 & 2 they were setting up a great story with twists and WTF-moments, but in MW3 they chose to tie up loose ends and end the trilogy. So MW3 doesn't have the cliff hanger ending of MW1 & 2. So what. Just give me a new trilogy (MW 4,5,6) and a Black Ops 2 or spin off.

The reason this game is great is because of the depth of the multiplayer. No other game comes close in terms of FPS multiplayer. You want a story line buy Metal Gear or Mass Effect. You want a competitive fun multiplayer experience by MW3.

My personal opinion is that people starting hating on Call of Duty when they introduced over priced map packs. They were too expensive and didn't have enough content for your money. For $15 you got 5 maps. I think the hate only got worse when people realized that they made a new Call of Duty Game every year and it didn't change much. Great game despite the harsh criticisms. The overwhelming amount of negative user reviews just proves how intimidated battlefield fans are by MW3 as the dominate game in the military shooter genre. If you're on the fence about choosing between MW3 and Battlefield 3, it's a close call but MW3 is the better game.

Don't trust the current user generated scores. Its just the battlefield 3 trolls who go around putting up 0s for every cod game they see. This game has sold millions and deserves the attention they get. I'm glad they kept the old Call of Duty formula which makes the game so enjoyable. Not many games last me a year, but the previous call of duties have all done so, and I believe this to do so too. The elite feature is great, even without a membership which is optional, they still include very helpful features that you can use to improve. Nothing more said, modern warfare 3 is definitely worth the price tag and the multiplayer will last you for a long time. Expand

Sure it is more of the same. Sure Not that much has changed. But as I massive fan of mw2 it doesn't mean the game should be deemed a ZERO? Anyway now to my review ( multiplayer only ) . The game feel is pretty good as is the presentation. The weapons somehow dont feel as visceral as before and the sound isn't as apparent. Maybe this was to tone down sound whoring. Only time will tell. The different packages are good for different players and indeed different game modes. In game modes where death is quick and easy like FFA then support is great as you get to call in UAVS and such with regularity. It is a pain to see UAVS , Choppers and sentry guns flying in far too much but the game has several counter measures. Namely Counter UAV ( duh) or assassin. SAM turrets for those perky choppers as well as EMP grenades for the sentries. This goes along with the obvious counter measures employed in mw2. The game modes currently are far more extensive and feature my all time fave 'mosh pit'. 99% of the players still play TDM for some reason meaning I couldnt find a game in lonely old Taiwan. The weapons feel similar to mw2 and indeed drop people as quick as they would in mw2 (minus SP ) . The UMP so far seems even steadier than mw2 and the m4 is a solid weapon ( resembling the scar in mw2) . I havent yet unlocked all the extras like bouncing betties and claymore but suffice to say Im satisfied with the weaponry. The perks are solid enough and do what they should do . They offer a little help. It doesn't feel like they dominate the game. The levels so far feel a little clustered. There is a lot of tight alleys and some annoying abstacles. One level has a hole in the middle of it and people just kept getting stuck at weird angles. Id like to say there are better levels if you play larger game modes like Ground war or such. Anyway I'd give it an 8.5 if I could as I love it as a new version on mw2 . I can however see why people would be disappointed in its stationary stance on developing the franchise. Overall : Great but not genre shattering! Expand

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.

As a complete package, Modern Warfare 3 takes the cake. [Jan 2012, p.67]
