And when u think it can not get any worse, patch 1.1 comes :) As the saying go: "if it aint broke, blizzard will break it" and "we asked for end game, so blizzard delivered and ended the game"

Tedious and boring with a predictable main story. Then they nerfed the base game into the ground to make it less appealing, imo, so that people will play seasons and buy the battle pass. The art and sound design is pretty good. So I'll give it a 2 for those two things alone.

I have been a hardcore Diablo fan since day 1 of the original Diablo game. After patch 1.1 dropped on 7/18, this is the first time I have ever wanted to return a Diablo game for my money back. I gave it a score of 2 because the campaign story is great and the voice acting is superb, but the game playability now just sucks. The did not fix many of the criticisms and instead, went backwards in many areas.

However, the latest patch has left fans disappointed and frustrated, as it marks a major downturn for the once-beloved franchise. From fundamental gameplay changes to a lack of content updates, the new patch has managed to tarnish what was once a shining gem in the gaming industry.

One of the most significant issues with the new patch is the complete overhaul of gameplay mechanics. Fans have invested countless hours mastering the game's mechanics, but with the patch, all that hard work seems to be for naught. Core abilities have been reworked, leading to imbalances that upset the game's overall balance. This has resulted in many players feeling disoriented and disconnected from the game they once loved.

Additionally, the introduction of a new progression system has left many long-time players feeling lost and unsatisfied. The patch abandoned the previous system that players had grown accustomed to, replacing it with a convoluted and confusing approach that lacks clarity and direction. As a result, players now find themselves struggling to adapt to the changes and wondering if it's even worth the effort to continue playing.

Another major letdown is the lack of fresh content. Despite promises of exciting updates and improvements, the new patch seems to offer nothing substantial in terms of new quests, items, or regions to explore. Players were hoping for new challenges and a revitalized gaming experience, but instead, they were greeted with a patch that feels like a step backward rather than a leap forward.

Moreover, the handling of bugs and glitches in this new update has been subpar at best. Players have reported numerous issues, ranging from minor annoyances to game-breaking bugs that completely ruin the experience. The lack of a timely response from the developers has only added fuel to the fire, leaving many players feeling neglected and ignored.

Furthermore, the new patch appears to be a desperate attempt to cater to the casual audience, sacrificing the depth and complexity that once defined the series. Diablo 4 used to be known for its challenging gameplay and rewarding character progression, but the changes brought about by the patch seem to undermine those core elements, alienating its most dedicated fans.

In conclusion, Diablo 4's new patch has been a colossal disappointment. It fails to deliver on the promises made by the developers and betrays the legacy of the franchise. The drastic changes to gameplay mechanics, lack of fresh content, mishandling of bugs, and the apparent abandonment of its dedicated fanbase have all contributed to this unfortunate downfall. Unless the developers take significant steps to address these issues, it's difficult to see how Diablo 4 can recover from this setback and regain the trust of its once-loyal community.

So, if you are looking for a good 20 hour game, this is a decent choice. Of course, this isn't a $20 game for which that would be acceptable. It's intended as a franchise game that takes hours and hours and many seasons of gameplay. In that context, it's repetitive and essentially a boring grind. I've sunk a lot more than 20 hours into the game, but it was really only that first 20 that were fun. I waited until the first season patch to write a review, hoping they would listen to the community and make improvements, perhaps even adding features to make the game more fun. Sadly, the exact opposite has occurred. They have slowed down experience, made characters far easier to kill, taken any fun abilities and made them less effective while not buffing or even fixing skills that are broken or useless. It's almost as if the people making these changes don't even play their own game. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Diablo 4 started well in the beta, but the Vanilla Diablo 4 game came out and quickly the nerfs began... Fast forward, just before the release of season 1: Everything got nerfed so hard people cannot be asked to even play anymore, that is insane. Everyone was hyped for season 1, now everyone hates the game... GG, at least it took the (new/current) Bungie years to destroy and downgrade the Destiny franchise to a hamster wheel slot machine, Blizzard destroyed Diablo 4 in less than 2 months... Applause. This dev team doesn't care about you. They care about artificially extending the time you play (by nerfing your damage output and defenses) so that you'll buy their microtransactions. This last patch was a nail in the coffin for many, myself included. I won't be back until that undo the damage they've done.

    - Also i got spectral (horse skin) like 20 time and i can't do **** with it cause it's account bound. WHY? I already have it...
    - The Skill Tree is absolutely pathetic. You have like 6 skills which 4 of them are garbage without damage or any good bonus. Yeah so everybody use the same stupid build. There is no diversity.
    - Aspects are piece of trash. Half of them are not interesting or useless and the good ones just got nerfed to hell.
    - But don't worry we made some new aspect for you to enjoy like 20-40 % movement speed when you moving AWAY from slowed or chilled enemies.... oh my god is this a **** joke?
    - No kill count
    - No gold count on pick up
    - No counter of destroyed things (There is a achievement for it) but i can't see how many things i destroyed... yep
    - No counter for killing spree
    - You have to make a new characters to stash your items... in cause you don't want to scrap/sell your stuff cause why the **** not
    - No stash search bar.. when pretty much every item looks the same yeah it so much fun to spend 20 minutes searching for what you need.
    - nearly a hundred and **** fifty dungeons but everyone of them feels the same good job
    - Yeah and for anyone wondering in the endgame you only doing like 3 of them cause the rest is a **** garbage without mobs ZERO EXP and loot just a waste of time.
    - Hellties are good only for gear once you get decent items its a waste of time again
    - Tree of Whispers is a joke droping level 15 sigils for T3 on 90+ levels... ??? XDDDD
    - Boss battles are about who can kill it faster and say im **** tired of this bull**** i quit (It's like 3 bosses all the time)
    - I had a hard time to understand which stats are better is it overpower ? is it vulnerable? is it critical damage? is it psychical damage or all damage... come on guys
    - Where are runes you promised?
    - Where is some kind of dmg dummy ?
    - Why do i have tab for materials but not for gems ? And why you can only stack them to 50 pieces????
    - It's currently patched but why cap materials to only 10k?
    - You can respect all skills at once but not paragons... why? You have to click every single one of them to start again holy **** **** that's just so depresing.
    - No addons maybe?
    - You have to go to 3rd party websites to check when is going to be another WB, Helltide or Legion... why?
    - Im not a fan of the one item one slot thing. I know it's hard to code this i made my own inventory in my own game but how does it make sense to have 50kg double hand to take same space as a ring.. why is it have to be so simplified?
    - It's pretty much pointless to go out of town and do anything besides ND and now it's even worse, much worse. You don't get any EXP nor a better loot.
    - Talking about loot is it just my or is this crap so boring? How can rare item be rare when it drops 20 thousand **** times with the same boring stats over and over again. Look at Diablo 2. You drop white **** shield with only +15 enhanced defense and who knows it's good af. No you drop "rare" click 5 times add aspec there you go. You little crafter theres your achievement. This just make me so sad, so depresing. It's like for people with 20 IQ to feel good.
    - Side quests besides the "story" ones are just boring. pretty much everybody skips them and the "reward" is a just a pathetic so bad you want to kill yourself after. Yeah, there you go, you spent 20 minutes doing this now you can have 1 **** VEILED CRYSTAL. xDDDD What are you smoking guys
    - The amount of gold for stat rolls on items can get to astronomical numbers to the point when its just better to drop the item again
    - Cursed shrines/chests/wells can be real good or another crackhead story. Sometimes it's rly good, so much mobs you can't see **** over all the effects etc. And sometimes it will spawn 3 demons and 1 sucubus. You would expect to spawn more mobs in higher waves. No next time you get 3 demons and 2 sucubus. I don't know what to say. People who designed this should be fired. I skip these, waste of time.
    - Resource Burn affix is so OP i actualy started thinking it's out of season april fools joke. Litery one mob can drain your mana/essence etc. to absolute zero and you cant doo ****
    - Cobwebs are invisible have fun getting stuck every 5 meters
    - F you im done

+ - I enjoyed the story with my friends it was actualy fun and it was fun to get to like lvl 70+ but after that its just a stupid grind doing the same ND again and again and finding gear with +1% better stats...
    + Paragon tree is ok
+ They promised shop with only a cosmetic items so props to them at least...

Itemization - amongst a pool of different potential stats there’s really only 3-5 that matter and good luck hitting the relevant ones you really need. Pay the resources, reroll the stat and it’s in a completely random pool. You rolled 21 fire res… weird.)

    Too many items?

    - You will easily spend 20 minutes sifting through a full inventory to ensure you don’t get rid of items that might prove useful. For us single folks playing the game and can dedicate 6-7 hours on a weekend to play, you can find yourself doing this twice an hour. So now a good chunk of your gameplay is roleplaying an inventory management simulator. Can we PLEASE get a loot filter? At the very least display the item level next to the name when it drops ?

    Random explosions

    - Speaks for itself Cosmetics - My personal opinion on this, if you got the money to throw 1/4th of the cost of the game you bought on an outfit for your character then that’s great. Cosmetics aren’t actually super cool in any way compared to gear you’ll find and salvage. Without spending money for majority of classes you won’t be missing out. That’s a definite win. If you’re playing a male sorc… go fish.

    Abilities

Super responsive gameplay, feels great and one of the main reasons I do continue to play the game. The mechanics themselves are fun. The combat is fun. The caveat to this is your basic skill and core skills are completely polarized to fit two purposes: basic skill = generate resource
    Core skill = damage
That’s a generalization but it’s not an exaggeration. You’re likely to be chipping away on a weak targets health while generating and waiting for either cool downs or enough resource to use your core skill.

    TLDR:

    Pros
1- combat feels good 2- transmogs and loot available in game looks good as it pertains to the comparison of purchasable cosmetics Cons:
1- rares are easy to come by. Relevant items are far very far and few between 2- mob spacing makes world feel empty at times
3- a lot of running back and fourth in dungeons doing menial tasks instead of fighting monsters 4- 1000 ways to die (CC locked, random explosions, monster explosions, poison explosions, explosions on monster death, explosion after a monster explosion, invisible explosions, stun locked-monster drive by explosions, dead boss explosion, ballista instadeath, etc, etc, etc.)
    5- server lag
6- level scaling (not a bad concept in and of itself but makes progression feel less existent. You never really feel like your character is truly overpowered for any enemy in the game unless the mob pack was already weak to begin with. For example: my character was lvl 64, tried out t4. Weak packs easy, elite packs obviously not. On t4 with same character only difference is elite packs are just monotonous to kill.)
7- 8/10 aspects for any build you try are pretty weak and make little to no difference in how you play Disclaimer: I enjoy playing the game. It has a great foundation but is pretty rough around the edges. It’s great at face value when you first start playing but as you progress the chinks in the armor so to speak begin to reveal themselves. It seems unpolished and some mechanics feel… lazy. All of that aside I really can’t wait to see what they come with and how things will be adjusted as they improve the game and am super hopeful and positive about the games outlook.

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
