    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I started this game out fresh without ever playing any Diablo games before. I played the beta and it was really good, nice graphics, sound, gameplay. This game as it stands right now is being castrated by the developers with horrible updates, and nerfs that aren’t needed. This so called game review bombing here isn’t that, it’s legitimate reviews by users.. This game is deserving of that because honestly it’s pretty bad now. Imagine me (Sorc) spending hundreds of hours in the game finding a build that works half decent. The Sorc btw is already the weakest class and lowest survival rate in the entire game.. So with the updates they nerf this class into the ground making it way worse and completely useless and also my hundreds of hours a complete waste of time and my life.

    I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone with how the devs handle updates and keep ruining the game for everyone. You won’t be able to build a character to keep without them ruining your build with huge nerfs. For example spend 100 hours building a class.. few weeks later it’s nerfed into oblivion.. now start over and over.. this games a complete waste of time, money, and overall happiness.    … Expand

Endgame results to uninspiring dungeons that are far from rewarding.

    You know what made Diablo great? The items. Good luck sifting through to find ANY items that either make you considerably more powerful OR excited to use. Legendary aspects often boil down to absurd conditions that are overly convoluted for no real purpose. X skill deals +Y% damage if Z happens. Why? Better yet, some items have aspects that somehow aren’t 100% positive. I haven’t even delved into how the sorcerer is basically unplayable. Old Diablo games would have items that differentiated you from the pack. Get this: you’d be REWARDED for all the time you spent farming. On top of that, farming would be fun because you didn’t have to spend 25% of your time using an underpowered skill that deals a fraction of your real damage against spongey mobs. These older items would have affixes that players revered. Enigma was such an awesome example. Any character can teleport now with this? Skills transcended characters because of the items. It was an extra layer of itemization when you could use barbarian shouts, or equip fanaticism aura to make your attack speed faster. Instead, you get uninspiring items in D4 that absolutely no one clamors for. Zero creativity and worse yet, minimally game-changing for the time invested. In previous Diablo games It took time to get powerful, but the climb was exciting AND you FELT when you got considerably stronger. You could go to different areas of the game now, you could farm for different items now. You accomplished something. Diablo 4’s level scaling gives you no such satisfaction, rather just a constant slog of mobs who will almost always take the same amount of time to kill. I had very low expectations for this game, but it’s time to just give up hope on Blizzard entirely to rectify this once upon a time titan in the ARPG landscape. Any hope of Diablo going back to the great game it was means slamming on the breaks with the direction it is going.    … Expand

    Blizz is trying to make and Loot based ARPG MMO, without rewarding loot system. An ARPG without action. A MMO without a social system.

    It tries to be everything, and fails on every aspect. And this patch made everything so much worse.

    I don't know if they made this a game...
    Diablo series was the best game of my life and Diablo 4 smashed everything. It's the worst game and the more uncomfortable and unpleasant it gets

    Very short live gameplay, doesn't worth the AAA pricing. There's simply no reason to buy Diablo 4 over Diablo 3 if you want to play a diablo game.

    It took one major patch for Blizzard to Blizzard Diablo IV. Were you having fun three days ago? Welp, too bad. Blizzard does such an awesome job listening to their communities! The new WoW!

    What a joke. I was optimistic and they shot themselves in the foot, again. The changes they made for season one are totally baffling and the upshot is that the game is now less fun. Why?

    I have never seen a company so out of touch with their players. They are so focused on making you play longer to boost their metrics that they forget to make the game fun.

    Newest patch for season 1 killed sorcerer when it was already the weakest class, nerfed damage and survivability overall, not to mention the negative QoL updates like extending exiting dungeon teleport from 3 seconds to 5 seconds. Clearly, Blizzard dev team does not respect players' time or enjoyment of a game they've paid $70+ to play.

    Jack (2 clubs) of all trades, master of none. If you're reading this you already know, and agree, as you've experienced it yourself. The game was trying to hide it, poorly, but this is just the pc/console port of diablo immortal.

    If you were on the fence. This is an ACTION RPG with slow paced action. It's a LOOT hunter with boring loot. This is an MMO with no social aspects. A dungeon crawler that feels more like a game of fetch the stones and put them on the pedestals.

    Unfortunately, they have missed the mark with D4. The developers and company remain out of touch. There is clear feedback that has been given across all stages that has been ultimately ignored. I do not believe they are capable to fix the glaring issues within their own game, they attempt numerical nerfs instead of drilling down to the root of the issues and ruining the gameplay experienceUnfortunately, they have missed the mark with D4.     My initial impression was very positive for this game. However, I have played from early release until now and likely wont be playing any longer. The game does have positive aspects. Its visuals are beautiful and the story was well told. The way the game has been handled by blizzard since the release has been messy at best. Continuous nerfs to various abilities and farming methods was very frustrating, though some things legitimately needed to be hotfixed, but the latest patch not fixing ANY of the numerous core issues plaguing the game and instead instating even more nerfs is extremely confusing.

    Who ever is making decisions about patch priorities should be reassessed. We (mostly) tend to play video games to have fun and the long list of hotfixes and this recent patch have active removed this element from the game. Why would anyone play something that is no longer fun?

    Server Lag is horrible. There is a known memory leak that still remains unfixed that causes frequent game crashes. The effectiveness of many builds were destroyed and there is no compensation for all the players that now have to reassess and rebuild their characters since the issue of respeccing/ cost is still unaddressed.

    There is much more that can be discussed but it seems to fall on deaf ears with blizzard.

    TLDR; I do not recommend this game in its current state. The ratio of enjoyment to frustration is too high.    … Expand

    Blizzard just released the first patch I've ever seen in a game that has no redeeming aspects. It almost feels like satire, like an April fool's joke. They clearly don't play, nor do they care about, their own game only a month into it's life.     Worst patch I have ever seen added to a game. Absolute shocker.. Blizzard literally do this to every game, how can they just continue to make their games less and less fun for the player base. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS

    Blizzard continuously made bad design decisions and constantly lied to players. They DO NOT listen the players and their opinions, actively made decisions to improve profits but haven't realized they already destroyed the game.

    If you try to push high dungeon levels, it is basically either you one shot the enemies or they one shot you.     It was a patch that made the game last longer by giving users more tasks rather than more fun.
    Through plausible trailers and numerous advertisements, they have achieved sales volume and are now making efforts to reduce the number of users to reduce operating costs.
    This situation will continue to repeat unless the management team changes and the direction changes.
    Diablo 4 is the last Blizzard game I bought with money in my life.    … Expand

So I bought a game for $90 and you want me to pay more money to play something that wasn't delivered in the first place? I'm tired of people defending this.     It is disrespectful to player time and effort to blatantly take away all their efforts in one broad stroke then turn around and ask us for more. More time, more shifting of our builds, more grinding at a slower pace for less reward while you preach to us about how malignant hearts will save us all.

    I'm over it as a long term player since D1, perhaps I'm too old to go for blatant BS anymore but I did NOT GET what I paid for and I won't pay another dime to fix something that the developers clearly will continue to break. Blizzard is truly dead. I hope Microsoft buries it after the takeover. The old school nostalgia is not enough to super glue and duct tape together this absolute **** show of a company.

    I should have known after I quit WOW years ago that this will be the fate of yet my favorite title from Blizzard. I had hope... Now I have nothing left but distain.    … Expand

    Devs are out of touch. I thought this was a decent base game and they would improve on it. When eternal realm released who payed more got to access it early and I thought that would be the worst. I regret buying the game. I should have spent the money on better things.

    If you come home from your 12 hour shift at the construction site and feel like you just haven't done enough work and monotonous tasks for the day, then this is the game for you.

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
