    I made this account just to give Diablo 4 an honest review so hopefully others avoid the same mistake of purchasing. Early on the game seems decent, but it progressively gets more boring.

    The latest patch shows that devs balance the game by simply nerfing everything. Kudos to the dev team for ruining every bit of enjoyment of this game.

    The game is truly a 3/10. I'd say it's worth the money to buy the game and give it a play through, maybe even two, but to also keep in mind that Blizzard is going to be this irritating force of misery every step of that way that wants to make your experience less enjoyable.

    Story: 10/10 Combat: 8/10 Literally every other system, mechanic or feature in the game well deserving: 1/10    The game is truly a 3/10.     I have logged more than 439.85 hours in my account which is around 18days+ since Early access. This game is most likely dead already because of the recent Patch. They reduced the total defense of all classes and damage. All the days farming specific roll for your items to clear out high tier nightmare dungeons become useless. This is my first review in this site and I just created an account specifically for this. My druid is lvl100 already but cant clear anymore NM T70+. In order for you to adjust to the current change, you will need to grind again lower tier dungeons to farm golds to respec your paragon board and also haunt items again with other aspects, game is dead. Dont buy this game. Devs didnt give a damn about the player base and they will tell you that they are being review bomb by trolls in this site. LOL pathetic… Expand

    Patch 1.1.0 was really bad, but the devs owned the mistake and outlined a very specific path forward, so some of my trust is restored. Will update with a 10/10 rating when the fixes are actually implemented.

We can't lock our rare loot and quick disassemble or use loot filters? Most arpgs have these features today. Where are the next gen graphics, abilities and camera angles in combat? A necromancer class that isn't even viable summoning minions? Blizzard could have paved the way to next-gen, but fell short of even providing basic functionalities like a matchmaking system for a multiplayer game.... lol. They didn't even fix balance issues based on Beta data or a test realm. They are patching imbalances using paid player's time. They release a massive power nerf to get players to buy a battlepass and regain the powers they took away. Oh and don't forget the treasure goblins don't even have a treasure realm to enter anymore haha. We loved that, but now they just drop more useless loot. The player in the dungeons or in the open world are slow and suffer from widespread lag or rubber banding (stuttering). The mounts also get stuck on every little thing. The overpriced cosmetic items in the paid shop are awfully designed and silly looking. Even the main story was boring and felt rushed to a sudden end. The hardest boss in the game takes a ton of preparation and time to defeat and gives garbage loot as a reward. Nightmare dungeons (like greater rifts perhaps) are useless past tier 50, reward for effort are gone after that point. In summary, I stuck it out with this game because I loved diablo 3, for a few weeks past when my friends already quit playing. Game has great potential but might take a few years of implementing feedback to realize it.… Expand

    The nerf killed progress on the eternal realm for my barbarian build which they completely nerfed. And I started playing season 1 but its more of the same nerfing that makes you realize it's not worth it. Blizzard made a fun game and turned it into a horrible game. I'm nerfing their score in return.

    I want to start this by saying that it breaks my heart that I'm writing this. I've loved every diablo, and I love this one, but with how quickly Diablo 4 is going downhill, it's a struggle to continue doing so. I know there's an ebb and flow to diablo updates, but this latest one really did gut everything. I found a good build. Nothing meta, but at lvl 90 it got me to difficulty tierI want to start this by saying that it breaks my heart that I'm writing this. I've loved every diablo, and I love this one, but with how quickly Diablo 4 is going downhill, it's a struggle to continue doing so. I know there's an ebb and flow to diablo updates, but this latest one really did gut everything. I found a good build. Nothing meta, but at lvl 90 it got me to difficulty tier 4 and can progress level 50 dungeons (if the dungeon favors my build) within 10 minutes. Nothing super crazy, but it was satisfying and I was having a lot of fun. But, now everything in the build is so slow, and doing anything above my own level feels like a punishment rather than a fun challenge. I feel like I've come too far, and don't have the gold, to respec.

    Trying to change a build, if completely reworking a paragon board and abilities, costs about 2 million gold. Which, at the higher levels shouldn't be a big issue, but having to change everything to find another good play style takes time and multiple respects of points, gear, and abilities.

    The changes to the armor/crit/vulnerable system in 1.1 makes even the lower levels feel like an intense grind. Doesn't feel like it's meant for casual players anymore.

    I'm not exactly sure what else to say. There are so many things that were reworked poorly, and and the big issues that we've all been talking about have not been fixed. I really do hope it changes as soon as the devs can see the mistakes that have been made.

    But all in all, at this point the game is functioning very poorly... Love the campaign though.

    Update: After the Livestream the devs did talk about some concerns to comfort players. This did raise my review by 1. I understand that this review is a drop of water in the ocean. Either way, I'm glad they're at the very least trying to understand.    … Expand

Regrinding renown is a joke. Why are blue and white items in the game ? Terrible cosmetics. Everything is structured around milking players out of money - terrible seasons system. Since they tried so hard to turn it into a soft mmo its missing everything that would make it any good. Just for example, arena pvp with seasonal cosmetic rewards would fix endgame problems as it would actually give players a reason to grind to 100 to climb pvp leaderboards for rewards. Maybe clan wars since its open pvp ? Or clan battles to take over strongholds (clans keep them for a week and get rewards for it) LITERALLY ANYTHING that would want players to actually compete or interact in any way. But nope that would be too good to be true. Also my grinded renown didnt transfer to season 1. I play HC and died on my rogue at 82, made a new character - got to 82 also. Now comes season 1, for some reason blizzard employees didnt know how to write code so they made it so you have to log in with a character that has everything unlocked. But my rogue died at 82 and my new character doesnt have altars or renown grinded because i refuse to grind it again so now im forced to grind them all over again. My choices are either stick to eternal realm and dont play season ( i got ultimate so i have season pass) because i have the renown and altars there OR play s1 without anything unlocked. Im forced to quit because im not grinding everything again. Im a father and I run a business and it took me a week to get all altars. I will never buy a blizzard game again. Fail dev team… Expand

    Like some others I made this account for this review only. I try to be as objectively as possible but Blizzard made that really difficult. During my first playthrough through the campaign I enjoyed the game. Heck, I even bought the add-on horse. But the more I played the lazier the game looked. Let´s take legendarys as an example. This aspect could be on several different Itemslot, creating the illusion of hundreds of legendarys. But it is nothing more than an illusion. In Truth there are less then 150. Diablo 3 had more than 500, not counting the Sets. Like i said. lazy design hidden behind randomness. Thats not all. In my opinion you could remove legendarys from the game and make the enemys drop the aspects without changing the game at all. Therefore if a gamemechanic does not fulfill anything besides making the game feel bigger than it is, is it necessary?

    And now they show with the latest patch that they do not care for the community. First they increase the Ep you get pre season to keep people hooked. Now they reduce it again to increase playtime of the season. The season itself has a theme that is nothing but a bad version of Diablo 3 legendary gem system.

    This is the first time i would take a refund offer for a game i bought. Not even reforged got me to this point.

    Therefore my recomendation: do not buy. wait for a sale. if you already bought is, wait for a year or so. the game will get better, i think.    … Expand

And today they even nerfed the mob density which for hack and slash games is the core concept. Shielders of blizzard will rant "its realistic" "I like the slow gameplay" but srsly? This is DIABLO, you are a overpowered monster grinder not some low adventurer. Overall I would give it a 0 but I gave 1 since I liked the bear smash.

    Update. Changed to a 0 wish I can refund it so I can just trash the cash which is the same as playing diablo 4    … Expand

Am I recommending a game I’d take a refund on right now. No. They are not willing to move fast enough. So until then I’ll just trash the game. Good luck recovering

    This is a horrid game designed to look like a diablo one, but its complete crap. Bad gameplay, limiting builds, horrible end game, and OC a cash shop. The devs have obviously never played an arpg and it shows. Long gone are the glory days of Blizzard North and this cheap arse activision crap is nothing worth buying.

The "tanks" do more damage than the glass cannon, and the sorcerer is STILL made out of paper, dying multiple times. They've stolen the soul out of the series. Hopefully they'll find it, but for now everything after the campaign still feels like it's in beta.… Expand

    Owned the obvious errors in the CF discussion, shame that it took some of the shine off the launch but I’m glad to see the focus going forward to ensure fun remains at the core of the live service.

    Whatever the negative reviews are, are from ham and eggers who do not understand the fundamentals of modern ARPG games. The base of this game is fantastic, they just have to build upon it to make it a near perfect game. It's no Diablo 1 or 2 however that time has passed and we have what I call the real Diablo 3.

    Everyone already knows the reasons -- Season 1.1 patch destroyed a previously fun game. Massive pull back on all classes damage and armor resulting in all the work already done on previous characters now completely irrelevant -- with no viable options to substitute. WTF!!? Gems now rarely drop, but instead your bags are filled with malignants so much you are spending even MORE time managing a horrible inventory system -- no stash/inventory capacity changes, no Inventory search or proper sort ability. Conveniently setup the seasonal menu UI in such a way that you will inevitably/accidently use your premium battle pass. Very suspect ! You didn't fix anything the community feedback have been giving you since beta, instead you made changes no one was asking for so you could slow us down and take out all the fun we had been having up until the 1.1 patch. And It backfired indeed. So surprised Blizzard is under a massive DDOS at the moment -- the Devs basically aren't going to change much. So...Baldur's Gate 3 in two weeks. No reason to waste your time with D4. It will be months before they fix this, if they even do. GG Blizz -- you are not worthy.… Expand

    I would rate it maybe 6/10 but have to give 4 to balance these these 10/10 ratings a bit.

    With fixes and improvement it could be max. 8/10 (Highly unlikely we see any of these improvements)

    I cannot accept the company using all of the method to wasting my time in game. I don't the 5 second to help me escape from the dungeon. And please add all the portal on all dungeon. I don't want to waste time on walking.

    Diablo 4 is a slow start slog fest very unfun until about lvl 40-50.
    From those levels up to about 70 the game is decent at best. After 70 is it another slow grind slog fest. At lvl 92 killed Lilith on Nightmare.    Hardly anything positive to say about the game. I only give D4 a rating of 4 since the cinematics and story are well done, other than that, it's a hot P.O.S and the morons directing the developers are so out of tune with what the players want, it's almost like it's on purpose they are destroying the game and franchise. A real shame. Go play Path of Exile.

    - End game content is lacking and there's not much to do - Death mechanics are terrible.     Unfortunately, the game is plagued with terrible design choices like almost no stash space and very long cooldowns on all abilities (often 20+ seconds). If I knew they would basically rug pull the game after the server slam, I wouldn't have gotten the game. I still have some hope that they will fix a lot of the issues in the future, but this rating must reflect the current state of the game. I would wait for future patches before playing this game.

    I was loving the game but the absolute trash of an update for Season 1 feels like a game killer. D4 needed some tweaks and balances, but this update nerfed everything to the point that the game will feel extremely tedious to play.
    I will continue to update my review once I see how the developers handle the latest changes.

    This game was playable, boring, but playable. That patch made it useless. They want to funnel everyone towards the seasons and the paid battlepass. They didn't have to do that. Someone making decisions at Blizzard who should not be. I wanted to love this game and play it for a long time, instead I uninstalled it.

    I find it quite humurous how people have reacted to the Season 1 changes. Had the game launched in this state the comments would be much more positive: "It's fun but could use some balance changes" but because it changed to that, suddenly a game that was a 9 went to a 0. This is the crux of the reason why they want us to make seasonal characters. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the changes either and I'm 100% certain more balance changes will come (because of course they will) but the base game I boguht was fun and I enjoyed my time with it. I put it down once I finished the story and I'll come back when an actual expansion arrives. There's little reason to keep replaying the same content, seasonal or otherwise, over and over and over, Blizzard has recommended players take a break, and they've given you another reason to do so.… Expand

    Blizzard transformed this game from an ok-ish experience (with promised improvements) into trash (w/o the "improvements") with the latest update.

    Listen to the players you money-hungry id**ts and fix the game. Last Blizzard game I'll ever buy, Microsoft can wipe their as*ses with the IPs.

    I am just a casual D4 player. I play after work since the launch. I had a lot fun until the last patch. After the patch, my character suddenly died many times and I was wondering what's going on. I did change a new armor last night, was that the issue? I changed back to older armor and still died very quick. Then I checked and found out Blizz nerfed everything.     I would like to thank the dev team for the season one patch. I was hoping they would remove the fun so I could stop playing so much and they did! Very good job! I really felt like it was too fast paced and had way too much action. Thank you for eliminating the action from your action rpg.     This game started out kind of fun, but if you took it too slow (doing side quests and dungeons) you basically have a harder time fighting the level scaled enemies, then patch 1.1 came out, and gutted most builds.

    I have a little over 100 hours in game and I have found the leveling up to 80 to be fun and engaging. I really enjoyed the campaign and side quests.

    It was an stunning Looking when it 1st came out the sorcerer lass did suffer in mid and endgame content but after the season one patch everything was nerfed and the sorcerer class was made completely unplayable. 10 years to make the game 1 patch to destroy it.

But after the pre season 1 Patch on 18th of July, I will not be touching this until it becomes fun again. Saddest thing is I was defending this game to my friends as the best recent AAA launch, turns out they were right when they were saying "wait and see".After waiting for more than 10 years after Diablo 3, this sucked me right in and I was enjoying it (with all its flaws) for weeks. But after the pre season 1 Patch on 18th of July, I will not be touching this until it becomes fun again.     While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
