"The Comeback" stars Lisa Kudrow as a one-time sitcom star who is trying to revive her career. Kudrow and Michael Patrick King (executive producer of Sex and the City) co-wrote the pilot script and will executive produce the series. Kudrow's producing partner Dan Bucatinsky is set to executive produce through the duo's production company, Is or Isn't Entertainment.

Hollywood. From the bottom up. HBO presents this new improvised dramedy about the everyday lives of three young actors trying to make it big in Hollywood. The series stars up-and-comers Krista Allen (Anger Management, "Days of Our Lives"), Bryan Greenberg (The Perfect Score, "One Tree Hill") and Jennifer Hall (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, "All My Children") as young actors who when not trying to land roles that could lead to stardom are taking acting classes taught by Goddard Fulton (stage and screen legend Frank Langella). Although the three leads play themselves and the series has a strong documentary feel, it should be noted that the show is actually fictional and not a reality series. The stories were inspired by real life situations from the lives and careers of both the stars and producers. These situations are then recreated by the cast in unscripted scenes where the actors must make up their own dialogue in order to lend the show a sense of realism. From executive producers George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, the same team behind the big screen hit Ocean's 11 and HBO's short-lived K Street. Joining Clooney and Soderbergh are executive producer Grant Heslov (K Street) and co-executive producer Matt Adler. Clooney also serves as director. Unscripted has been rated TVMA for Adult Content and Adult Language. Here is some of the critical acclaim the show has received Most of the critics agree that television has become saturated with "inside showbiz" type of shows (HBO alone has given us Larry Sanders, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Project Greenlight, Entourage and their upcoming Lisa Kudrow comedy) but they also agree that Unscripted is still a welcome surprise nonetheless. Time magazine calls Unscripted "clever and fun." As a show that is "sophisticated and sympathetic, Unscripted has a lot going for it." Variety writes that producers Clooney and Soderbergh "have created a compelling document on the struggles of Hollywood actors." Dr. Craig "Huff" Huffstodt (Hank Azaria) is a very successful psychiatrist who is thrown into turmoil after a 15 year old patient commits suicide in his office. Huff's family consists of his son Byrd (Anton Yelchin), brother Teddy (Andy Comeau), his antagonistic mother Izzy (Blythe Danner), who is critical and nosey, but means well, and his strong-willed wife Beth (Paget Brewster). Huff's best friend, Russell Tupper (Oliver Pratt), makes frequent appearances to provide a different perspective. This is the story of a psychiatrist who has spent his entire life helping others find peace and clarity while his own state of mind is in constant question. The suicide of his patient has now forced him to re-evaluate everything. We watch as a midlife crisis erupts into brief outbursts of delusion. The series is interspersed with fantasy sequences which expose Huff's take on his family and work as he struggles with his daily life.

Leonardo's sidekick, the menacing Plug, was a robot. NBA player Charles Barkley voiced himself in nearly every episode, playing the nemesis of Jay and Silent Bob. And Lando was created in episode 3 to address the lack of black characters in the show. Utilizing the animation, the makers inserted tons of film and television spoofs, and cameos from many stars.This short lived series not only set a record for the length of time it spent on the air, but for the length of the titles as well! The show was green lighted by ABC for six episodes, but the release date kept getting pushed back and after a spot on the Superbowl, they finally got around to airing the series on May 31, 2000. After playing the show for two weeks, the series was abruptly jerked off the air, even though the additional four episodes were scheduled. Plans were made to cut the episodes into a feature film, but this idea was eventually scrapped and all six episodes appeared on video and DVD the following year. Also worth noting, Leonardo Leonardo was based on (and originally voiced by) Alan Rickman (Dogma, Die Hard, Galaxy Quest), but the execs at ABC didn't want Rickman, so Alec Baldwin stepped in to do the voice.On the video version, the real Jay and Silent Bob come out to introduce each episode (and there's a special appearance by Randal). On the DVD, these clips appear after an animated version of Jay and Silent Bob holding up a card with the episode number. The DVD also includes an audio commentary, two featurettes, animatics, the Superbowl spot, and a long promo made for a film/comic convention. Former police detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), whose photographic memory and amazing ability to piece together tiny clues made him a local legend, has suffered from intensified obsessive-compulsive disorder and a variety of phobias since the unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, in 1997. Now on psychiatric leave from the San Francisco Police Department and working as a freelance detective/consultant on difficult cases, Monk hopes to convince his former boss, Captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine), to allow him to return to the force. Stottlemeyer, who wavered between admiration for Monk and annoyance at his eccentricities during the first season, becomes more of a friend to Monk as the series develops, frequently calling him in to help, as much for Monk's benefit as for his own. However, he knows Monk's limitations as well as his strengths and still harbor doubts about the wisdom of allowing Monk to carry a gun or subdue a perpetrator. Stottlemeyer's second-in-command, Lieutenant Randall Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), also develops both admiration and compassion for the man he once labeled "the defective detective." Watching Ellie is a vehicle (created by her husband, Brad Hall) for star Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her first post-Seinfeld role, who here plays a cabaret singer. (Steve Carell, then still a Daily Show correspondent, had a co-starring role.) In season one, when it was a single-camera comedy, Watching Ellie featured a real-time gimmick (similar to 24), complete with an on-screen countdown clock. But despite initially debuting to strong ratings, viewership rapidly declined, and the show was put on hiatus after 10 of its 13 episodes aired. The anachronism-filled followup launched amidst a tidal wave of publicity, scored lots of eyeballs for its premiere, and then promptly lost half of them. A lone tryout broadcast after its parent series improved its standing and suggested the sitcom could thrive with some nurturing, like That '70s Show had gotten, but the short-sighted executives who were running things at FOX, Sandy Grushow and Gail Berman, swept it under the carpet anyway, like most of the shows they launched that season. Much more interesting than the story of the show itself was the story of a little email battle that waged (and leaked) between co-creator Mark Brazill and Judd Apatow -- who was doing another FOX show called Undeclared the same year -- after Apatow attempted to get That '70s Show star Topher Grace to make a guest appearance on his series. Filled with such classy lines as "Die in a fiery accident and taste your own blood" and "See ya at the upfronts, bitch... unless you get cancelled before that," the tastefully-restrained tale of lies, deceit and alleged intellectual property theft probably got both of their shows cancelled without anybody ever bothering to look at any of the ratings. Derek Barnes runs the Freakylinks.com website, which he took over when his twin brother, Adam, committed suicide. The website is dedicated to uncovering the hidden and often dark and scary truths behind urban legends and the paranormal. After receiving strange messages related to Adam, Derek begins to search for clues to how and why his brother died. He and the Freakylinks team investigate the reasons behind Adam's death while hunting down stories for the website, and their weekly exploits bring them in contact with the "weird, the unusual, the occult, the paranormal, and the just plain silly". Freakylinks was a horror/comedy/drama brought to us by the people who made The Blair Witch Project, and like that hit movie it also had a "reality hacking" website that was designed to look just like the site on the show (it is no longer officially online, but is available as a "portfolio" on Haxan's site). "Freakylinks.com" became one of the most active sites on the web before the series even aired, but all those hits did not translate into good ratings for the show. The series was put on hiatus more than once, but luckily FOX aired all 13 episodes before canceling it.

Airing for five seasons on Showtime--making it one of the longest-running African-American TV dramas in history--Soul Food was adapted from George Tillman, Jr.'s movie of the same name, which in turn was based on his own childhood experiences in the Midwest. The series picked up six months after the events of the film, though with a new ensemble cast, led by Rockmond Dunbar, Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe, and Vanessa A. Williams.

A ruthless police captain runs a squad of quirky detectives while angling to get elected mayor of New York City in this brief sitcom. The show is most remembered (if at all) for yielding guest star Henry Winkler an Emmy nomination, only to have it rescinded when the TV Academy learned that the episode aired after its official deadline period.

This half-hour comedy chronicles the hilarious world of Christopher Titus and his totally messed-up poor white trash family. Between his drunken father, his dimwitted brother, and his goody-goody best friend, it's amazing Titus is alive, let alone engaged to a "normal" girl. Titus adapted Christopher Titus' stand-up routine in a novel way: each episode is narrated by Titus from a black & white "Neutral Space," from which he comments on the events as they unfold, punctuated by short, surreal flashbacks to his childhood and adolescence. The hilarious interplay between these three levels of narrative is sometimes amazingly complex and even contradictory, highlighting the exceedingly black nature of the show's humor. Alas, the Fox network lived up to its history of commissioning innovative television and then sabotaging it; the third and blackest season was made particularly incoherent by showing the sequences out of logical order. Titus never made it to syndication, and is currently unavailable — a buried gem — until its release on DVD in September 2005.

A fan-led campaign caused NBC to broadcast three more episodes in July 2000, but these would not be seen until September of that year when the cable channel Fox Family aired them in syndication.

Not to be confused with Once and Again, which premiered during the same season, this CBS sci-fi series from Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron focused on a secret government project to create the perfect spy. After engineering the perfect human body (Eric Close, later of Without a Trace), the government gives it a brain taken from a dead man (John Goodman, who recurs via flashbacks), and he is trained by an espionage expert (Dennis Haysbert, later of 24). The show was canceled after its first season.

In season 8, a life-or-death decision forces the sisters to fake their deaths and take a young witch named Billie into their care to help them fight the evil forces that once threatened their existence so that they could maintain the 'normal' lives for which they had spent the last 7 years fighting to regain.

Sports Night ran nearly two full seasons on the ABC network in the US during the '98-99 and '99-00 seasons. Created by Emmy Award winning writer/director, Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin created such movies as, A Few Good Men & The American President before his first venture into television (Sorkin would later create the massively respected & popular The West Wing). Smart, fast-paced, witty and featuring a fine ensemble cast, Sports Night struggled in the ratings from the start, particularly during its second season, when it was routinely pre-empted and moved from night to night. Art imitated life imitating art, as the show took on a consultant (William H. Macy in his first TV role since his stint on ER), was hired to "tweak" the ratings. The show within a show continued to falter, amidst rumors of the imminent sale of its network and the subsequent gutting of its staff, until it, like its parent Sports Night, simply disappeared from the schedule. Upon its cancellation, several networks, most notably HBO came to Sorkin for a possible move to the respected network, but nothing was ever solidified. Sports Night gained additional exposure through a subsequent syndication on Comedy Central.

However, Downey's personal problems and numerous arrests, eventually wore out Kelley's patience and he was dropped. Lisa Nicole Carson, who played Ally's roommate, also left at the end of the fourth season following a brief stint in an institution and admitted problems with substance abuse.Without Downey, the fifth season had floundered more than ever; bringing in Jon Bon Jovi as a love interest, and giving Ally a daughter played by Hayden Panettiere) hadn't helped. Set in the era of Led Zeppelin 8-tracks, Tab cola and Farrah Fawcett posters, THAT '70s SHOW returns for an eighth season as it continues to flash back to the "Me Decade." With changes in their lives and adjustments being made, the gang from Point Place is moving onward and upward in season eight of THAT '70s SHOW.
