Although most of the premiere is forgettable, the second episode is wheezingly funny and the third is also a kick. [7 Oct 2000, p.F1]

Who'da thunk this one'd be so adorable? Cox gets to cook comedically in this smart souffli, with great support from von Esmarch and company. Big bonus: elaborate weekly production numbers spoofing Godzilla, the penitentiary and, of course, the French Revolution. Love those decapitated dancers! [6 Oct 2000, p.B51]

Though somewhat rough around the edges, "Nikki" hilariously spoofs cheesy, tasteless Vegas showroom extravaganzas and idiotic professional wrestling matches whose outcomes are scripted. [7 Oct 2000, p.E-9]

With the endearing, improbable comic chemistry shared by Cox and von Esmarch, Nikki turns out to be one of the fall season's most pleasant surprises. [6 Oct 2000, p.12D]

Although they seem an unlikely couple, Cox and von Esmarch begin to grow on you, and they're both very personable. [5 Oct 2000]

Cox and von Esmarch might seem like the unlikeliest of couples, but the obvious chemistry between them makes Nikki slightly more palatable than the show's pedestrian material would indicate. [7 Oct 2000, p.C1]

There may not be much sexual combustion between Cox and von Esmarch, but they're charming and able young performers, and they're sweet together. Their show has a good heart. What it doesn't have, unfortunately, is a lot of laughs -- which is the one thing it has in common with most other WB sitcom attempts. [6 Oct 2000, p.11E]

If you're a fan of the attractive Nikki Cox (Unhappily Ever After and Norm), then there's a lot to like about this sitcom. [7 Oct 2000, p.5E]

The concept of Nikki sounds trite, but the execution is at least amusing in two out of the first three episodes. [8 Oct 2000, p.G-7]

What's depressing is that Cox is a very gifted comic actress, but she can't seem to land a role that doesn't involve showing off her ample cleavage. [7 Oct 2000, p.E1]

In short, tight, low-cut everything, with her talents always on prominent display, Cox appears so much older than the baby-faced Von Esmarch that their relationship looks perverted, if not illegal. [8 Oct 2000, p.F6]

The opening production numbers are Las Vegas cheesy, Nikki's running battle with Dwight's mother is mean-spirited, and the jokes run from rank to raunch. [7 Oct 2000]
