    Dave Chappelle received plenty of criticism during the two seasons of his self-titled TV show but never held back from saying what he thought. The show consists of a short stand-up segments from Chappelle that introduce sketches such as 'Ask a Black Dude' and 'Great Moments in Hook up History'.

    The sketches can be a little hit and miss and, being English, I didn't always understand the American cultural references but when he hits the mark Chappelle is painfully funny. For me the second season improved on this already funny show, it is just shame contract and creative disputes but an early end to season three and eventually the show.    … Expand

    This show can be hit or miss at times but is usually very clever racial humor that occasionally devolves into juvenile sex and toilet humor. Dave Chappelle proves he has a unique voice in the comedy world here.

    Tis show is up there with the greatest. This show was very courageous and broke new ground in comedy with many sketches being very raw and being based on many controversial topics, like race. A truly hilarious show that always delivered, with shockingly brilliant writing and very talented musical performers. In my eyes, this show was a comedic gem that could be compared to Mr. Show or KidsTis show is up there with the greatest.     This show is genuinely ingenious, and hilariously outrageous - not to mention courageous. Plenty of people will find Chappelle's Show offensive - but then again, whenever you do something completely new, it's bound to offend somebody. In this case, it will offend a lot of somebodies.     There are funny sketches and ones that go down in flames in comedian Dave Chappelle's erratic new series, which is interesting due to the unexplored territories it tills and the way it dares to offend sensitive types. [22 Jan 2003, p.53]
