Absolutely hilarious, turns swearing into poetry.

Like The Office, it's just not funny. Comparing this to Yes, Minister would be like comparing Little Britain to Monty Python. In that one's funny, the other's not.

confirms what you always thought about your politicians - that they dont have a clue what they are doing, make policy up on the fly, and lead a totally miserable life. Not laugh out loud, more just excrutiating to watch in the mode of the office.

It is somewhat excruciating, although not as much as The Office (assuming that you work in an office and not govnt). But the pain is worth it: "defecation outrage" still has us laughing.

Pretty good......borrows a bit too liberally from 'The Office' though.......definitely a series that people have to pay close attention to, and it'll undoubtedly fly over most people's heads. But that's ok, WE get it. ;)

Armando Iannucci's latest and greatest deadpan comedy.

With just 3 episodes in this first season it’s almost over before it begins but it well worth watching if you’re a fan of this type of show. Expand

The constant extremely shaky camera is making me sick. I get dizzy after only a couple minutes.
Besides making me physically sick, the show doesn't make me laugh either. Maybe I am not into English comedy.

A few laugh out loud moments through out along with a solid plot definitely make it worth checking out. The characters are likable as well, Peter Capaldi being the star as the foul mouthed Malcolm Tucker. This season consists of just three 30 minute episodes so why not take a chance on it.

This show is very funny. As it's been said before, this is like a British cabinet's version of The Office, complete with amusing settups and idiosyncratic characters that exist in the real world.

The brilliance of Malcom Tucker's swearing rants are juxtaposed beautifully with the obnoxiousness of his team. I can't think of a comedy show that has me quoting it to the extent of The Thick Of It.

This is, in my estimation, the funniest show of all time. And one need not be from the UK to appreciate the political in-humor. General scenarios are applicable to US and CAN also. Although based on real people, it's general enough to be hilarious to just about anyone. Highest possible recommendation.

It is a absurdly hysterical show which deals with the presentation of absolutely twisted sense of humor and a collection of comedy of errors which is well portrayed so fantastically Capaldi's Malcolm Tucker and the chaos surrounding him that he thrives on. While Malcolm is heart and pulse of the show who lights it all up in an exciting array of cuss words and well placed witticism, the supporting cast around him do a right proper job of expanding on their goofy characters and their fear of Tucker's emphatic insolence. Season 1 is absolutely is right brand of stuff for your time's worth for someone who is looking for this sort of British work and humor. Expand

To say this is a comedy for people with brains almost gives it a disservice. This is like a septic shock to your system if you're used to normal TV and you watch this show and stop paying attention for a moment you'll miss a joke they come so thick and fast a true master class in writing and wit.

This is my first Armando Ianucci TV series but I have seen 'the Death of Stalin' so I'm a little familiar with his work. I was a little apprehensive as I thought 'the Death of Stalin' was a bit pretentious. However, I really do quite like 'the Thick of It' and I think it is very good political satire. I'll admit not all of the jokes land and, at times, it can feel a bit immature. It's very funny if you're into politics though. Expand

This sly Britcom is like a C-SPAN spin-off of... The Office. [12 May 2006, p.75]
  3. Think of "The Office," "Larry Sanders," "Spin City" and "Yes Minister" rolled into one delirious stew.
