Trash Panic
Platform:
PlayStation 3
June 4, 2009
[Playstation Network; also known as "Gomibako" in JPN] Taking the puzzle video game genre one step further, Trash Panic is the newest PS3 downloadable exclusive that tasks players to compact as much garbage into a trash can before it overflows, and in the most eco-friendly way as possible. Throughout each stage, random trash items will be delivered via crane to players who can then manipulate the speed and direction they fall using the DualShock 3 controller. The trash can will quickly reach full capacity unless the trash is broken down or dealt with by strategically using various elements given throughout each stage. Items will continue to be dropped until the player successfully compacts a certain number of items or ends up with an overflowing trash can. Each level will also feature a giant Boss item that players need to destroy in a certain amount of time to avoid getting penalized. At the end of each stage, each player will be rated by how eco-friendly or ego-friendly each stage was completed. The more eco-friendly, the higher the rating. Ratings help in unlocking various levels and modes. Spread across three different game modes, Trash Panic offers fun gaming for everyone. The Main Mode will take players progressively through six stages that increase in difficulty the further you advance. Vs. Mode allows two players to battle one another on the same screen. And lastly, Mission Mode offers mini-games for those who want to further their fun with a variety of waste management missions. Trash Panic also offers ways for players to show off their skills with trophy support and online learderboards. Additionally, players will have a recording option to upload up to 10 minutes of a gaming session onto YouTube to share with the rest of the world! [Sony]

WarioWare: Snapped!
Platform:
DS
April 5, 2009
[DSiWare] Put yourself in the frame for some motion-controlled fun with WarioWare: Snapped! Created especially for Nintendo DSiWare, the latest game in the WarioWare series uses the Nintendo DSi’s inner camera to make you the star of the show as you play wacky mini-games that are guaranteed to get you moving. To get started, you'll line yourself up for a photo - positioning your head and hands as instructed so that your body can become your means to control the madness. You can choose from four game modes to play, each mode featuring five different challenges and hosted by different characters. Whichever mode you opt to play, the fact that it reflects the personality of your host is a guarantee that things will get crazy! In Wario's challenges, you'll have to make big movements with your face and body to succeed - perhaps collecting coins or shaking your head at high speed to dry off a dog! Mona’s mini-games, on the other hand, will require you to line yourself up with targets on the screen. You might have to move your head into place to catch a falling hat or squash a fly just by clapping your hands. In Jimmy’s challenges, you'll play peek-a-boo with a baby, stick fingers up nostrils and dish out a quick massage just by performing the right actions. The remaining set of mini-games are hosted by ninja twins, Kat and Ana. This duo know the value of good friends, which means all their challenges require you to have a sidekick handy. Line your faces up in a totem pole, smash through a stone block together and figure out the right formations to get through whatever comes your way. [Nintendo]

Pop Cutie! Street Fashion Simulation
Platform:
DS
October 6, 2008
Pop Cutie! Street Fashion Simulation is a game where players manage the day-to-day happenings of their very own fashion boutique. They hire models and assistants, choose the look and music for their shop, run the cash register and even place magazine ads. Best of all, they take to the streets and meet different characters in search of up-and-coming trends. Players then use this inspiration in their studios where they create new clothes, accessories and even hairstyles. However, other shop owners are also prowling the streets looking for the next big thing. Players start the game as an independent designer with a small shop at a flea market. As players progress, they move into larger boutiques. The competition against rival shop owners culminates in a 'Fashion Battle,' where a panel of judges decides if a player's style has enough cute or enough cool to become all the rage. By gathering 'images' from people on the street and combining them, players create clothing lines ranging from the conventional to the most outrageous trends from the streets of Tokyo. A simple touch interface allows players to consider color and shape combinations on the bottom screen while reviewing the actual design on the upper screen. Using Nintendo DS Multi-Card Wireless Play, up to two friends can challenge each other in fabulous Fashion Battles. [Koei]
