Official Nintendo Magazine UKIf you can bear to look at it, you'll enjoy its tile matching, stat-swelling RPG tendencies. [Oct 2009, p.83]

Despite its shortcomings, though, it’s probably my favorite game Infinite Interactive has released yet. If you’re up for another helping of puzzle/RPG this soon after Galactrix, Puzzle Kingdoms delivers.
-
Despite its unattractive exterior, Puzzle Kingdoms shines where it counts – fun, addicting puzzles with tons of meaningful customization options, and no BS filler (like, ahem, PQ Galactrix’s tedious leap gate hacking).

Puzzle Kingdoms on the Wii turned out to be a better game than the DS version -- the core mechanics are rock solid. The problems I have with the game come from the sloppy production values, most likely due to the bargain basement development budget.
-
Though it’s only $20, it’s a package that isn’t really justified as a retail product. Tack on a host of technical and design flaws, and it’s an experience that’s somewhat disappointing.

Nintendo GamerA hugely disappointing sequel to a great puzzler. More of the same would have been better than this. [Nov 2009, p.68]

It is quite obvious that Puzzle Kingdoms had a low budget to work with. They tried to recreate Puzzle Quest to make another quick buck, but fell completely flat.
