Having been disappointed by pretty much all Star wars related content (movies/TV) that Disney has released so far. It’s fair to say that my initial expectations for this being any good were pretty low.

I tried to give it a fair chance, butHaving been disappointed by pretty much all Star wars related content (movies/TV) that Disney has released so far. It’s fair to say that my initial expectations for this being any good were pretty low.

I tried to give it a fair chance, but this series slaps you in the face almost from the very beginning, not only with poor Star Wars content, but in general with poor filmmaking. Inconsistent and poorly developed characters with as much depth as we are used to from Disney Star Wars characters. Dialogues and story that makes close to no sense, to characters doing things that makes you wonder whether the director was even on the set the day of the shooting or whether they were just told to figure it out on their own.

Some scenes are so poorly executed that you don’t know if you should laugh or cry, to music not matching the setting, to poorly created scene props where you can almost guess what material they used in the production, to costumes and character designs of some of the alien creatures that you would think that these are costumes bought at the local store.

This has nothing to do with it being Star Wars, had it been any other tv series, it would get an equally bad review. But nonetheless it is Star Wars and nothing more to say than it is, amazing how Disney can get away with such low production value here in this franchise.

If you as a person love Star Wars and everything about it with little respect to the lore, I think one could enjoy it. But if you like the original characters and are tired of seeing them being butchered by Disney, I would recommend not watching it, I honestly think you would be better off.… Expand

I am really enjoying seeing what Kenobi was doing after the Clone Wars and before A New Hope. It's filling in a lot of questions I had and bringing up a lot more. I wish it wasn't just 1 season. Some fans may initially be put off by Obi-Wan's very apparent defeated state-of-mind, but patient fans will be rewarded with the character development that results from it. Obi-Wan's reluctance and downright refusal to help or intervene in situations the Jedi Master audiences know would have previously engaged in only highlights how deeply the character was impacted from the Republic's downfall, the destruction of the Jedi Order, and yes, the loss of Anakin. This starting place fills in the gap of understanding just how much losing Anakin impacted him and how close Obi-Wan felt to Anakin, something the Prequels did not establish well, in my opinion. A minor criticism would be the way in which Obi-Wan learns that his former friend did not die on Mustafar and actually survived and is actively seeking him out lacked gravitas and feels like afterthought. I can only think of the failed opportunity for Obi-Wan to have learned the truth from the actual encounter with Vader, a poetic echo resembling the way Luke learned the truth in Empire Strikes Back. On the other hand, a strength of this series is the relationship that begins to build between Obi-Wan and the other twin, doing justice for the character as well as Padme's legacy. It helps to highlight that both twins would be integral to the eventual downfall of the Empire. Fans can understandably be confused or disappointed as the Obi-Wan we are presented with appears to lack the moral clarity seen in the Prequels or the return-to action call in a New Hope, but I believe that fans will see Obi-Wan regain his mojo and confidence. There is no question that Obi-Wan has, despite his demons, not abandoned the hope for the Jedi. Audiences only have to see how much he watches over Luke to know this to be true. He's defeated, but like good hero stories, even the best have to fall down and get back up again. After all, thanks to Star Wars Rebels, we know that Obi-Wan achieves his return to purpose.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It doesn't feel like star wars to me. I'm no expert but he cinematography doesn't feel right for a star wars production. The Leia chase sequence, awful. At the beginning when they're looking for the Jedi and he starts running, one of the inquisitors just stands in front of him instead of trying to catch him. Reva is super anoying. The first encounter between obi wan and Darth Vader after mustafar felt lazy. Vader used the force to extinguish the fire but a few minutes later he couldn't do the same to catch obi wan??? Couldn't he force grab obi wan or the droid that was carrying him?

The only 2 scenes I loved were the order 66 sequence, which made me drop some tears of excitement and the 501st veteran scene, I hope there's more of the clones in the next episdoes. One last thing. Why did they give the whole series to one director? Why not do it like the mandalorian and the book of boba Fett? I was really looking forward to this series, I hope it gets better. Kenobi is the best show that's come out of Disney Plus. Ewan McGregor is doing an INCREDIBLE job portraying this broken stage of Obi Wan's life. The cinematography and score are top notch, the story and writing are incredible and Ewan McGregor & Hayden Christensen do an amazing job of breathing new life into iconic roles. The surprise stand out of a young Leia Organa makes the show all the more rewarding to watch, as well as incredible villains in the entire Inquisitor squad. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So far this is a great series. We get to see a very broken Obi Wan after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Not only is he in hiding but is also trying to come to terms with the “death” of Anakin Skywalker and his failure to save his old apprentice. Quickly he is pushed back into the action to save a young Leia Organa. Upon which he learns about the survival of his former apprentice turned Sith Lord. Darth Vader’s character in this could not be a truer rendition of the Vader we deserve but also the Vader we now have. He is dark, merciless and without question the biggest badass to grace the small screen in a while. Could not rate this series more. 3 episodes in and I am hooked. Every character and every scene is perfectly put together and the actors nail each role. Ewan McGregor is amazing back in his role as Obi Wan.… Expand

I'm so impressed with this show so far. There are some awkward quirks, the chase scene and some of the parkour is a little cringey, but this is easy to overlook. Obi Wan feels exactly as I'd expect him to be, very disillusioned. Vader isI'm so impressed with this show so far. Don't let the review-bombing, minority of the fanbase fool you, the show is good. I prefer the Mandalorian, but then Obi Wan is only halfway done. It could end up being better. In any case, It's got Ewan MacGregor, what else do you need?

Absolutely loving this series. The show’s exploration of Kenobi’s grief only adds to Obi-WAN’s character and provides some insight into the aftermath of Anakin’s fall to the dark side. In terms of negative reviews, outside of the angry mob of people hate bombing this for being “woke” (which now just means a poc or women exist in the story), crying that Disney has an agenda (when really it’s them with the agenda), I see a stark divide between Star Wars Fans who have watched the animated stuff and those who haven’t. If you fall in the latter, I suggest watching those shows. They are not only cannon but they add to the experience of these live action shows.… Expand

Amazing series, one of the best things that happened to Star Wars since it was taken by Disney. Ewan McGregor is doing such an amazing job and he is clearly putting his whole heart into this series.

It is truly one of the best Star Wars stories ever created. It really portrays how Obi-Wan has become broken after the events of Revenge of the Sith. I hope we see how he regains his composure like he was in A New Hope.

So far the series has been very well done. The turn happens on the third episode. The first two are a lot of back story and trying to catch up from 10 years of information since the end of the prequel movies.

I love the series through episode 3 (as far as they’ve gotten by the time of this writing) and, as much as I’d love to have seen OWK in lightsaber duels from the episode 1, that’s not realistic in keeping with the reality of his situation. I think it’s been great so far, I just wish there was more than six episodes planned.… Expand

Don't let the Fandom Menace turn you away from an amazing series. True to Star Wars in ever way this is a series worth watching for sure. Young Leia is casted perfectly and Ewan McGregor as always is embodying the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi perfectly. I normally don't take time to post my reviews but I saw that the toxic side of the Fandom is trying to hurt the show because of racist beliefs. It must be known that George Lucas originally made Star Wars a message for good fighting against the evil xenophobic (space racist) Empire. Reva is well casted and is a formidable villain but this does not take away from Darth Vader who is amazingly portrayed by Hayden Christensen.… Expand

Young Leia perfectly embodies both Leia and Padme. The camera work is creative, the environments are believable and distinct. Best star wars project in years… Expand
