The deconstruction of another hero to a weak, whiny, frightened, and faithless Obi Wan by Disney is criminal (as they did to Luke in the last trilogy). At best, Disney is taking poorly executed artistic license to add humanity to a Jedi and at worst, their ideology is driving their destruction of characters that don’t fit well with CRT. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The acting is very 'cringey' particular from the dark side squad. The running scene in the first episode was laughable / memable. Really tired of the effort put into making a show 'woke' rather than great content and good acting. Kumail Nanjiani saved the acting in episode 2, but besides him and Obi-wan it's pretty terrible. Also, when did the inquisitor become 'Dark Knight'? Not to mention the dumb flips and rolls that are completely unnecessary... Expand

Obi Wan is presented as an ineffectual coward multiple times, unlike in movie episodes 1-3 where he is the first to run towards danger and face it. A clear bait and switch designed to idolize Moses Ingram's character (who is a terrible actress in this show) while denigrating its original protagonist. In other words, it's the predictable and pathetic trend of tearing down classic characters and writing them a useless in order to build up a new character that checks certain political boxes. This is a primary sign of subpar low intelligence writers with no ideas being given a franchise that is way out of their league. The Jedi overall are also portrayed as generally incompetent and easily killed, instead of being some of the most powerful beings in the galaxy. This is Last Jedi all over again, but in a way it's worse because it's taking a lot more time over the course of an entire season and carrying out the torture slowly. If you have any love for the originals, DO NOT watch this - It's a waste of your time. Expand

The writing has just been poor all the way through and Episode 3 was the worst, yet.

I won't get into it, but the series has already broken canon and continuity on multiple occasions. The OT is being rewritten in this series and there are sequences of events that just DO NOT make sense, AT ALL. Disney is, yet again, destroying another cultural icon. With The Last Jedi, it was Luke Skywalker... now they're tackling Obi-Wan Kenobi.

This show has the grease of corporate film manufacturing all over it. If you claim not to see what I'm about to describe, I implore you to open your eyes, for the good of Star Wars. Disney and Kathleen Kennedy are doing the best they can to put Luke Skywalker and the entire reason for the Star Wars story existing, in our rear view mirrors. They did it to Luke, because he was a strong male lead, with a white skin color at that! Now they're doing it with Obi Wan. In a show where we expected Obi Wan to be an older, but much wiser and more in tune with the force version of the young man we saw in Episode 3, we were instead given a frail, shell of a man. Kathleen Kennedy's version of Obi Wan is weak, hasn't used the force in 10 years even though he's suppose to somehow protect Luke? They're actively undoing everything we grew up with in order to fit the current social climate. The Force is Female, you saw it on their shirts.. and there's nothing wrong with female characters, see Leia, even Rey at first. But what they're forcing is a redemption arc for a completely unwanted character in Reva. The writing is so lazy and easy to interpret(almost like it's written for kids), that even without the spoilers, by episode 3 you can tell that Obi Wan is not the main character of this show.
You have a child version of Leia(again, for what reason? who asked for this? Why is she in OBI WAN KENOBI?) and a female villain who you've instructed in the writing to just yell all the time. Please Disney, look at your audience, instead of seeing detailed critiques from serious fans that treasure the lore and the imaginings of a galaxy far far away and calling them racist, just read them. I assure you in a MAJORITY of them, you will find legitimate critiques based on the writing, skill of the actors, or directing, and not many will you find saying they dislike the show because you cast a black woman.. what a joke.
We the fans love the original Star Wars story, we want to escape this fallen world we live in every single day, we want to escape to a galaxy far, far away. We're trying let our minds rest and dream while we watch these stories, stop bringing the woke treatment to every single thing you lackadaisically create and let us rest. Create GOOD Star Wars, or stop creating the content.

If you want further evidence of how politicized everything with the mouse's finger prints is, look at when the article for the supposed "review bombing" of this show came up, and the time stamps for the actual positive review bombing that came directly after. Good to see all has returned to normal with actual fans rating the show as it is, garbage.

The writing and directing is terrible and the 'antagonist' is a one-note character, badly acted. I say 'antagonist' as it's obvious she's going to have a redemption shoe-horned in by the end. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this may be my favorite of the Disney+ series overall, let alone the Star Wars series. The acting is great, well done by the cast which was perfectly assembled. Darth Vader is once again scary as he should be, and the special effects in general are also vreat. If the Book of Boba Fett had been given this much love and care, I would have been very happy. But I can be content to know Obi-Wan was given so much respect, along with all of the characters in this story. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. More poorly developed trash by Disney. The depiction of Obi is almost criminal. It goes against star wars lore and general human nature. No one of Obi Wan high esteem and character would behave this poorly. He is a coward, weak, depressed, and down right of bad character. The story line is weak, and predictable. The feminist/minority agenda will be full-filled when The "third sister", who was forced to be bad, coverts to good to save old helpless Ben. Once again proving that the white male is never a true hero. I may be wrong, but I bet not. Together they will kill a poorly develop antagonist . Well I guess they could kill Vader off, lol.. Some reasonable performances from the cast, but they struggle with the cringeworthy dialogue. Characters seemingly 'teleport' as the plot requires them and the main lead, Kenobi, is portrayed as a powerless coward and an idiot. It is well advertised that Vader is in this show, but he is utilised poorly with the producers seeming to forget that he has a theme tune. He too is an idiot in this show when he uses a power and then forgets that power seconds later because the plot would be hindered by it. The same thing happens with another antagonist who also forgets powers until the plot requires it. Steer clear and wait for Ashoka (Directed by Dave Filoni). The writers and producers seemingly have no respect at all for the Star Wars franchise, and instead of giving us a good story, they used the opportunity to emasculate another Star Wars hero and deliver another social justice message just like Disney did in the sequel trilogy. And what's with the complete lack of anything even resembling a soundtrack? It's like they just forgot how important the music of Star Wars is supposed to be. The entire thing is utterly abysmal. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Completely undermines everything Lucas wrote for Star Wars by making Luke "not important", characters are written soo poorly that a rage filled dark side user doesn't have sith eyes or criminals couldn't even duck under a branch to kidnap Leia... Heck, the wise master of the jedi order panics like a nervious wreck and surrenders to less enemies than he just killed. "Quick Leia, lets disable this laser gate we could walk around just so we can walk through it"
What the hell is this writing? Seems more like they just make shows just to have female characters undermine legacy ones in their own shows

And worst of all as per Hollywood, the corp has decided to slander fans as bigots for a handful of hate comments to create a smokescreen to protect the IP from criticism for its poor writing to say the fandom has a racism problem, akin to Ghostbusters 2016 saying fans are sexist (despite only 0.2% of comments actually being hateful)

Typical media trying to spin genuine criticism as review bombing whilst ignoring the thousands of one sentance 10/10 rating in the space of 24 hours... We all know Disney is just doing damage control right now to protect their IP

Do yourself a favour and skip it or atleast do not give Disney money for slaughtering Star Wars once again.

I am writing this as a fan of the OT and the PT I did not care for the sequel trilogy. Mandalorian is great so far and The Book of Boba Fett neutered the titular character. I have never seen any Star Wars Aniamted shows, so that's the sumamry of my perspective on the franchise.

Episode 1: It seems solid so far. There's a little goofiness with the chase scene involving Leia and her captors about 40 minutes in. You can really see the actors doing the chasing really trying their best to work with the dumb obstacles they were given to allow Leia to escape. Still not sure if Third Sister's intentions are overblown or not. Ewan Macgregor is great. 7/10 Episode 2: What do they have against bringing Nar Shadaa into the mvoies? Daiyu's basically Nar Shadaa, why not just give it a name fans will recognize? The jedi imposter was written too comedically, in my opinion. Another Leia chase scene where the adult can't catchh up her, actor has to clumsily bump into things to make it so Leia's actress can escape. I think the writers could've done better to allow her to slip away more believably. Nice reveal to the character at the end. 8/10

Episode 3: The opening is totally trailer bait. I dig it. "Have you ever been afraid of the dark? How does it feel when you turn on the light?" Ewan's the best. Wow, this planet looks just like California :D Obi-Wan's trauma and hallucinations make sense for his character. Ned-8 was about to smash some skulls with a hammer o_o I'm really glad Disney allowed Vader to be Vader and didn't sugarcoat him. "I am what you made me" Reiva nearly teared up when she saw the Jedi Order insignia on the wall. She was one of the younglings in the beginning. Clumsy writing toward the end though. Vader could've easily stopped them from rescuing Obi-Wan 7/10

All in all, I'm way more interested in this than the Book of Boba Fett, but not as excited as I was about The Mandalorian. I give this a solid 7.5/10 I'll round up to be optimistic, but some of the writing has been clumsy. I'm half-expecting Reiva to clumsily run into a tree branch in the tunnels to allow Leia to escape at the beginning of next episode though.

I watched every Star Wars thing there is to watch from the Christmas special to car commercials and I must say I expected more. Now after watching the first half I see many details that break the immersion of the series and seem artificial. It's really sad to see so many good opportunities being destroyed by Disney.. I'm sorry it's the truth and I won't pay any longer for it.

Nevertheless, I'm going to continue watching it. But like old times Arrr....

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 2 for great acting. But man the story does not make sense AT ALL. Leia, with her parents' status, got easily abducted? Ok fine. Rogue Jedi stops chasing Obiwan just because he closed the space shuttle's door in front of her face? OK maybe (even though she literally just jumped across so many roof tops)? But episode 3 is getting even worse... Obiwan simply surrenders to 3 storm troopers, even though he has just single handedly defeated more. Vader cannot cross a small line of like 20 feet long fire wall? And he cannot just walk around it? The laziness of writing the stories is simply heart breaking for an amazing actor and fans who had waited for so long. At least it is a good thing this did not get developed to a movie as originally planned. It would have been a bigger disaster. Expand

While many viewers have an issue with how weak/damaged Kenobi is, it's easy to understand if you think what he went through in the prequels. He essentially failed at his main task of keeping Anakin in the light. On top of that for ten years he thought he had killed Anakin, his "brother." It's easy to see how that could devastate a person, add to that the formation of the Empire and order 66. I think he will get it back before the end of the season. The issue I have and the reason I give a lower rating is the shoehorning of the Reva character into the narrative. It's the Obi-wan show, not the Reva show. We are tuning in to see what happened to him and can't help but feel that this is an attempt at subversion in order to push another character. First Disney turned Luke into a blue milk drinking weirdo, then they murdered Han. Now, Obi-wan is in the second seat in his own show. This should be about Obi-wan and Vader/Anakin. It's not a time to introduce a new character. It's obvious she is being introduced to fulfill some internal quota at Disney. It's not that she could be an interesting character, it's just that we are getting so much of her with no back story in the prior movies or shows. She's also hard to watch. Overly coarse and aggressive and not particularly well acted. If you want to see Ingram in a better role, watch the Queens Gambit. Expand

The series explores the dark corners of one's own inner self and fleshed out what we know about these characters we've known for well over 40 years. The series' tone is dark, but the light of hope runs directly throughout.

Some overly sensitive viewers might have difficulties keeping up with the plot and find themselves sending racist and/or sexist messages to some of the actors - you know, how normal people behave.

All in all this series delivers as promised and brings back many long-time favorite characters and many of the actors that portrayed them in the past.

The direction and casting are godawful, scene blocking horrendous (i.e. the chase scenes in the forest & on rooftops, the laser-gate Kenobi and Leia could've just walked around). Nothing makes any sense: Obi Wan has no force skills left but intended to train Luke how exactly? Some bottom-of-the-barrel Jedi-rando can easily find Luke in the desert but Reva/Vader can't? Somehow Vader can't use the force through a wall of fire (he himself just lit) and just stands there like an idiot? Obi Wan just blurts out Leia's name (and the storm troopers just let it go, even though they're looking for a 10-year old named Leia?) The list is endless.

In fact, it bridges the prequel and original sequels in a way that finally reconciles the different mood, look, and production quality of the two. The biggest criticism of the prequels was their advanced, almost cartoonish production quality where they original trilogy was gritty, primitive, and dark. Obi-Wan makes this seem not so much like a production choice but a story. The beauty and advanced order of the Republic has fallen. Ben must deal with that in real time. It’s not more content with a kick ass hero. It’s a hero coming to terms with the fact that everything is lost and he’s desperately trying to keep hope alive. Not in the galaxy, but in himself. And now they have done it to one of the most powerful Jedi in history.. Kenobi. Wtf. After killing off a white Male original character Han Solo in the female led Force awakens and then destroying Luke’s character in the disgustingly awful The Last Jedi , now we get to emasculate a prequel white male lead Kenobi. There is no way after only a few years watching over LUKE not Leia he would lose all his force powers and forget how to swing a dang light saber. He killed Darth Maul and practically killed Anikan. Come on now. This is just more of Kathleen Kennedy’s females are the bestest ever junk. It’s so old at this point.. look no further than the Marvel shows. It’s the same Disney agenda. Let’s take Loki as an example. First episode he gets knocked out by a massively overweight POC female LOL. He’s a GOD come on now. How ridiculous. Then he gets kicked in his man parts over and over by his ex in that illusion scene. But the main junk story bait and switch is when the show becomes about FEMALE LOKI! Of course it does.. wtf. How about Hawkeye.. is that show about him oh wait no it’s about a teenage girl who now becomes the lead.. if you can’t see what Disney and Kathleen Kennedy are up to here you are blind. They don’t care about story first. ITS AGENDA FIRST ALWAYS. Diversity quotas and females are the bestest ever and original male characters are losers who lost all their skills and need to die.
