It has its moments, but it is so poorly written that it appears that Disney was trying to ride on the success of Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett ans save money by making a slow relying on previous entries.

We've been wanting more star wars content for decades, now we finally have some top shelf content and you guys are ruining it for the rest of us. Guess what, if you don't like it, don't watch it!! The narrative of the story and the emotion of the characters especially with Ewan McGregor's portrayal of a broken and emotionally flawed Obi Wan Kenobi has made me wanting more. The inquisitors relentless hunt of surviving Jedi and Obi Wan being put in dangerous positions and risking his own exposure to his pursuers draws in from me an emotional connection with the character's which some films and series fail to do. I'm very interested to see how he reconciles his past and becomes the happier and more hopeful version of the character that was portrayed by Alec Guinness. I've never seen Darth Vader be so brutal as he was in Part III, not even his hallway scene in Rogue One was this scary.

To all the people who say the Vader v Obi-Wan fight was very underwhelming, it was meant to be. This fight was meant to show how much Obi-Wan had weakened over the years and was not meant to be the "rematch of the century" that was promised. Wait until the last episode, then I'm sure we'll get the epic clash we've been expecting.

It's like when animation has such a low frame rate that it doesn't mesh into an illusion. The utter failure of directing in this show is a new low point for Star Wars on a purely technical level. There is a scene where the Third Sister is chasing Obiwan across rooftops and the action is such a mess that I literally don't understand what is supposed to be physically happening. The Sister is being yanked around by invisible cables while flailing around and faking "parkour" as she bounced from wall to wall. It's laugh out loud embarrassing. The story indulges the bad habit of writing children to be "precocious" to disguise the fact that the writers cannot write age-appropriate lines.

This is an absolutely galling mess. It's baffling on a level similar to Solo. It's existence, even after the stellar Mandalorian and Boba Felt shows , makes a clear argument that someone at Disney simply doesn't know what to do with Star Wars and doesn't even seem to want to find out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show has been phenomenal! Young Leia has been exactly how I imagined her, Ewan Mcgregor has done a terrific job portraying the bridge from the prequels to the original trilogy, picking up on Alec Guiness' mannerisms and attitude. Vader has been perfectly terrifying, and the way he indifferently just snapped a kids neck was the icing on the cake. Moses Ingram and the actors playing the other Inquisitors have done a great job portraying how the dark side doesn't play well with others and why the rule of two was implemented in the first place for the Sith, a tradition repeatedly broken by both Vader and Sidious have broken on numerous occasions. I’ll also say that I did not appreciate episode 7-9. I loved The Mandalorian Season 1 but not the second one. I did not care for Boba Fett, did not watch it. Anyway. Even though I didn't like the prequel trilogy, I always liked Ewan Megregor and was curious about this series.

But like I said, I did not go beyond episode one.
Ewan Megregor does a fine job but the rest of the series….

The biggest problem for me was the music. Star Wars and John Williams music goes hand in hand. This show uses super cheap and bland music. That doesn't work well

The camera work is just ok, pretty much like every DIsney Star Wars series so far. I won't get too much into the scenario, but it’s not good, like at all. The first episode has a small child outrunning assassins. It looks dumb. It feels like a kid show. Anyway, like I said, It’s not a detailed review, but this show is not great.

It can be a little bit cheesy, but that comes with the territory. Ewan is great in his return and brings excellent gravitas. The special effects are remarkably excellent for a streaming series. It's full of easter eggs that link it to the films and Clone Wars/Rebels. Stepping back and just watching this as a continuation of Obi-Wan's story after the events of Revenge of the Sith, it's really cool how consistent it is with the prior films. This is bolstered by the return of actors for even small parts, like Joel Edgerton as Owen. It's also cool to see some of the repercussions of the clone wars and the fall of the Jedi in live-action. This show definitely occupies a unique place in pantheon, and I'm glad they took a chance on bringing this story to life. I will definitely update my review as the episodes keep coming and adjust accordingly if the quality changes as a whole by the end of the series. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing. Sad to see that so called fans have so many criticism. You’re not watching a movie, you watching a show where writers have time to let the story and characters develop. Some call Obi wan a coward for not acting in the first episode and some of the second and running away in the 3rd. You don’t understand how broken that man is after 10 YEARS of shutting himself off from the force and living with his demons. The portrayal of Obi wan is absolutely precede the and anything different would have been leaning away from the skywalker storyline. If you don’t have anything nice to say about the show leave it to the true Star Wars fans who understand the cannon to enjoy it and don’t ruin it for us. Expand

Oh boy Metacritic can accept 700 very obvious 10-star bot reviews but my actual honest review just gets stuck when I try to submit it.

Long story short, the show is garbage. It's so garbage that they need to pay for bot reviews to try and hide how garbage it is. It's quite impressive how they can have all of the possible benefits; limitless money, the original actors, professional script writers, etc, and still write and direct something that is somehow worse than fan edits and fan fiction on youtube.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Highly enjoyable for fans (not so enjoyable for internet trolls). They creative team understand the characters and how they should realistically be at this stage of the saga. Ewan McGregor is nailing his performance so far, as we see the toll that Order 66, his failure with Anakin, and 10 years of monotonous solitude have had on him. Inquisitors and Reva were a bit bland, but they're secondary villains anyway. We'll see if Reva continues to get better, or ends up predictable and lame. Hers is not an amazing performance, but I've enjoyed the character a bit more with each episode. Vader is true to form, and perhaps the best we've seen him. Fun to know it's Hayden. He's brutal and excellent to watch. Some criticize the encounter in episode III, but it's perfect for this moment in the show. It should not be a fair/even fight at this point. It also adds weight to the rest of the Saga and our understanding of these legacy characters. I was at the edge of my seat for the sequence and can't wait for the all-but-inevitable rematch that lies ahead. Lil' Leia is also a treat and behaves her age. Her short chase scene was a bit goofy, but doesn't ruin the show. Worst part is the music, which is just okay/nothing special. Expand

So far, after 3 episodes, this series is very much a vehicle for exploring Obi-Wan’s damage after failing to save Anakin and contributing to the fall of the Jedi Order; Ewan McGregor, backed by an incisive script, approaches the material with emotionally appropriate gravitas and his return to this classic character who he helped define (and helped to define him) in the pop culture zeitgeist after so many years is a triumph.

Vivien Blair’s portrayal of little Leia does Carrie Fisher a great service and is perhaps a better homage to the spirit Carrie brought to Star Wars than even her posthumous appearance in Rise of Skywalker. Leia is also a constant reminder of Padme for Obi-Wan, an emotional core the series makes great use of. But most of all, just seeing the banter between these two witty characters is a joy to experience. While much more somber than many other entries in the Saga, there is still plenty of the world-hopping action and fun world-building we come to Star Wars to experience. Obi-Wan is a proud edition to the Saga and a must-see for Star Wars fans young and old.

It’s great to see Hayden back as Darth Vader. He was my favorite charter growing up and watching the prequels. I’m excited to see the rest of the series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve enjoyed the show so far. It’s not without its problems (not a fan of the chase scenes), but I think it’s been well-executed for the most part. Vader has been my favorite part of the series and is more akin to comic and video game Vader. This is one of the first times we see the raw ruthlessness of Vader in live action and I’m all for it. This review could go up or down with future episodes, depending on if/how they address how the third sister knows who Vader is and what happened to the Grand Inquisitor (he is alive and well in the animated series, Rebels).

I’m excited to see where the last few episodes go!

Love this series. From all the returning actors to the kids playing Luke and Leia and of course Moses Ingram kills it as an inquisitor. If you don't like this series are you really even a Star Wars fan or just a pretender?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I gave it a 2 for some of the good actors like ewan. The inquisitor baddie is a terrible actress. Can't believe they didn't bother to get someone with real acting skills. So far she's done some parkour and has one voice for every emotion. It's honestly been more about leia and her character isnt very good either. It's a bratty know it all kid. leia became cool and confident with experience. It's like they tried to force these two characters into the show. Meh special effects and too much comedy. Hopefully it gets better. The other actors and actresses have been great though. Odd also how over night metacritic added around 800 10/10 positive reviews lol Expand

I love the story of a beaten up hero coming back and realizing their importance. Ewan and Moses are great antithesis characters that feed off of each other. Plus the sprinkling of a very terrifying Vader is really a cherry on top

I WOULD LOVE FOR ELON MUSK TO DO A BOT AUDIT ON ALL THESE STAR WARS REVIEWS. IVE BEEN REVIEWING TV AND MOVIES FOR 30 Yrs+ this....is ...low.... quality ..tv....and ....low.. quality.....sci-fi....and everyone knows it!

I canceled my Disney Subscription after this. Here are ten reasons why;

*Minus one star for horribly directed, acted scenes all involving Leia.

*Minus one star for just highlighting and putting down Obi Wans age which represents more than half the audience. *Minus one for wardrobes, I mean I liked the inquisitor scenes, but this is Disney I would expect a bit more. Very laughable in a bad way.

*Minus one star for CGI. Reminded me of low quality Sci-Fi channel TV and they have way less funding.

*Minus one star for music. Just wasn't unique and didn't stand out. They should have taken a bigger risk here with music. Music is a huge part of Star Wars, again I feel like no effort was made. It sounded too similar to Mandalorian and this is a completely different thing; story, planets, the force, lightsaber emphasis. Music should take its own path here.

*Minus one star because the script was rushed and jumped around horribly. This is so bad I want to take off two stars. THE LAST THING MODERN DAY BINGE TV SHOULD HAVE IS A RUSHED SCRIPT. ITS TV YOU HAVE SO MUCH TIME.. *Minus one for horrible batman-esk action scenes. Not necessary. This is laughable.

*Minus one for using "spice". This Dune rip off a doesn't even transcend multiverse because they treat it like it has more ...well it's just idiotic. Leave the Dune script alone and leave stupid drugs out of Kenobi. They were never in the prequels etc. Just lame.

There appears to be a while online industry built up dependant on bashing Disney Star Wars and don't get me wrong, most of it is justified, but the negativity around this series simply isn't justified. I enjoyed it. There are things that aren't perfect with this show. No I don't particularly like the 3rd sister, she is a luke warm character and the acting is a bit "meh". I don't really appreciate the broken portrayal of obi-wan, but I get it, it's a decision made by the writers, just not one i really agree with. I also dislike the Little Leia storyline, it feels cheap and predictable. But come on, this is season 1, give it a break. There is a lot this has got right. Vader seems almost psychotic, written very well from the screen time he has had so far. I also enjoyed the world building, the landscapes and production values are really good. Characters feel grounded for the most part, products of their experiences. Like I said, there are things wrong with this series, but on balance it's good. After just 3 episodes, it's more engaging that the Mandalorian and so much better than the 3 films that Disney spat out. I'm honestly looking forward to this series giving us more. Expand
