Never Alone is just not an enjoyable or fulfilling experience, and that is why it is best left alone.

It may not have the narrative thrust of other Black Isle titles or the likes of Bioware’s slick epics, but Icewind Dale remains an important part of the adventuring landscape for those willing to brave its frosty depths.

So, to sum up what SingStar: Ultimate Party is I can safely say what it is not. It is not the ultimate party. If it were, life would be very dull indeed.

Styx: Master Of Shadows showed some potential. Styx himself is an interesting character and the game’s use of amber allows the player to be creative in their approach to each mission, but unfortunately these ideas have been thrown into a game which lacks the enjoyment to appreciate them.

It refreshes the old formula sufficiently to keep it interesting – but doesn’t do enough to become something special in its own right. It’s a lot of fun to play, but with a short campaign, uneven story, and by playing things a little too safe, it’s not quite as advanced as it claims to be.

It’s yet another example of the kind of game that could only come from a small studio willing to take risks, and it’s to the game’s credit that it leaves you wanting for more rather than overstaying its welcome – but the missed potential of what could have been will dominate your thoughts once you’re done.

For all its flaws, Farming Simulator 2015 is the latest, best entry in an exceedingly niche genre, a reasonable improvement on the last entry, and perhaps a change of scenery if you’re sick of the sight of alien spaceships and chest-high walls.

On sheer value for money alone The Master Chief Collection is a fantastic proposition, add in that it contains some of the highest regarded Xbox titles of all time, touched up, enhanced and fit for a whole new generation of players, it’s quite simply a must buy.

The story is shallow, the characters are shallow, and the world is shallow. It’s bewilderingly underdone; there’s very little content and it doesn’t really engage with its source material.

This is one game definitely made for the die-hard F1 fans who have a bigger passion for racing, than perhaps for gaming.

Unity is not the huge leap forward that a next-gen Assassin’s Creed promised it would be – rather it’s a familiar adventure dressed in exceptional decoration.

It’s a big, brash and colourful rendition of what makes the genre wonderful, with a sprinkling of innovation and a chunk of failure mixed up into a forgettable story, with some fun but ultimately limited gameplay.

There are between fifty and seventy hours of gameplay in Wasteland 2 for those willing to invest in its world, explore each new area fully and complete each available mission. That we were happy to do just that is testament to the brilliant design, engaging storyline and immersive combat of inXile’s world.

It’s not like everything that needs to be improved is touched in one go; nor do we get that brand-new and surprising title. So here we don’t get that ten out of ten rating but Sports Interactive deserve praise for again delivering the best football management simulation around.

Sunset Overdrive is solid if underwhelming romp in parts which admirably sets out to poke fun at itself, along with the genre, and inject some joy into proceedings.

The best thing to say about The Evil Within is that it is a good survival game with some decent mechanics, the worst thing I can say is that it is a poor horror game that doesn’t live up to its design or the talent of the director.

Given the game outlay plus the cost to play online, what’s unavailable is shocking. The community will have moved on before it’s sorted. For that reason, and everything underlying it, what we have here is a potentially excellent game dragged down to the level of the mud you race in.

If you go into it knowing what you have today and that in the future something might - or might not change - then you’ll be left with an enjoyable and long-lasting experience. If you expect the future that might be now - if you have bought into Bungie and Activision’s chatter as being the day one solution, well, with that your joy will be muted.

For gamers seeking a slice of arcade-style action, they could certainly do a lot worse than Heavy Bullets. The gameplay is fun, the aesthetics are first-class, and for people who love a challenge, it will certainly provide them with one.
