Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition is a very competent port of an amazing game that shows the Switch 2 can handle such endeavours without issues. Playing RE7 on the go feels like the game has finally taken a much welcome step forward when it comes to atmosphere and immersion, and the experience really benefits from being played as a handheld game and with a headset. On top of that, the inclusion of its DLCs with Gold Edition make this an unmissable release.- Starbit

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has a striking personality that grabs the player right from the beginning thanks to its art style, looks and quality writing when it comes to creating a noir world, and performs equally strongly when it comes to the game's FPS action. Even if its detective component falls below the rest of the experience, this is a very solid and captivating game that fits perfectly on the Nintendo Switch 2 catalogue, further aided by its mouse controls.- Starbit

Marvel MaXimum Collection is a compilation that features an unorthodox choice of games based mostly on their time of release rather than quality. Some of the games have not aged well and their inclusion in this collection feels more like a curiosity. On the other hand, fans of 1990s Marvel games will find this collection to be more practical than looking for overpriced retro games, especially with the multiple formats included here, and the extras do a good job at improving the experience.- Starbit

It's still one of the very best 2D Mario games ever, and now it looks sharper and performs better. With that said, the new additions are fun but they did not give the experience a greater creative and qualitative edge. The multiplayer minigames and single player training challenges are welcome, as are the difficulty and assist options, but those who know the original well enough might not see this Switch 2 version as a significant improvement over the original. Especially when the original is already so good, and fairly recent.- Starbit

OPUS: Prism Peak is a narrative adventure that strikes a high note when it comes to its emotional dimension and exquisite art style, and which successfully makes photography a core aspect of the gameplay experience. While less of a conventional adventure than some could expect, Prism Peak boasts a very well implemented atmosphere and an unforgettable plot that binds every element of the game together, and the result is a game with a unique identity.- Starbit

Basketball Classics does not attempt to deliver a detailed realistic experience but rather to set up a fast-paced, accessible arcade game that features much more than it seems at first. The game avoids any races it cannot win by focusing on a lighter experience that works fine, even if it won't appeal to every kind of player and its gameplay reaches its limits soon enough, but its old-school charm and ease of access more than make up for Basketball Classics' shortcomings.- Starbit

Comical, ridiculous and annoying, all at the same time and often in equal proportions, Human Fall Flat manages to hit the intersection between those three adjectives almost perfectly, and in an amount that's just enough to keep players' attention thanks to its well-crafted level design, minimalistic audiovisual environment, and (why not?) customization choices.- Starbit

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake does a good job at preserving the original's unsettling atmosphere and the emotional dimensions of the plot. Like a master of its own craft, this game knows how to deliver horror that is not shoved on the player's face but rather creeps up slowly and cleverly manipulates the rawest of human emotions. If Fatal Frame II's mechanics have aged fine, including the Camera Obscura, some performance issues need fixing to improve the experience. While not a game for everyone, horror fans with a taste for psychological horror will find themsleves enraptured by this remake.- Starbit

Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers delivers a fun and welcoming arcade-style beat'em up experience that goes beyond the nostalgia trip cliché. This new entry fits nicely with the classic 16-bit trilogy, while adding new touches and elements to the gameplay that allow for more variety and experimentation. The series' identity is alive and well, and the co-op multiplayer is a marvel to play, even if on solo the experience can start feeling repetitive too soon.- Starbit

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is fully aware of the Virtua Fighter legacy and holds it up high with plenty of technical skill and mechanic depth. Although based on a game released twenty years ago, this edition delivers an experience that will tick all the right boxes with fans of intricate fighting games, though it is less welcoming of newcomers hoping for a simpler style. Online play has also been improved, thanks to rollback netcode and crossplay, which help make this the ultimate version of Virtua Fighter 5, where all the hallmarks of the series can be found at their finest.- Starbit

This story-led adventure game more than earns its credit for its beautiful art style and exquisite soundtrack. The plot is the main driver and it's a marvel to find out more about the game's tragic but heartwarming background story. Its combat is less impressive, though, and it feels repetitive soon enough, especially as we expand Kena's capacities, and at some specific points there seems to be a performance issue with regards to the graphics. Nonetheless, the game's narrative dimension, its audiovisual world and the exploration and search for collectibles more than help Kena: Bridge of Spirits merit its place on the Nintendo Switch 2 catalogue.- Starbit

Blue Prince is an outstanding game that delivers an unconventional exploration and puzzle experience. Players will find their curiosity stimulated to the point where it becomes the game's main dynamo, and with a very original structure, an extremely rewarding sense of progression and an atmosphere that seems to have a personality of its own, it's easy to recommend Blue Prince as one of the very best head-scratching adventure games on the Nintendo Switch 2.- Starbit

Minishoot' Adventures shows how it's possible to pair experiences from twin-stick shooters with those of a 2D adventure metroidvania and build a marvelous, fun game out of it. Scott Pilgrim EX brings a change in structure compared to more conventional sidescrolling beat'em ups which sets it apart in ways that are welcome but can also feel unusual at first. Thanks to the slick dynamics between the team members - kept together by a fairly interesting plot - and to the level design and enemy placements, each mission is a serious test of our concentration and problem-solving, and the use of the titular shadow tactics will prove very important at tackling some of the most difficult moments. This his City Hunter remaster brings the 1990 classic to the world. If only more region-exclusive games could follow suit. Fans of the manga and anime series will find a simple but fitting 2D side-scrolling action game, with little more than moving around, shooting and jumping, very good soundtrack and some welcome - if short - bonus content. New quality of life options also make it feel more at home, but the gameplay could use more tweaks when it comes to level navigation. The retail price, however, is too high for what this City Hunter brings, and it would be more suitable to a full remake and/or a lot more bonus content.- Starbit

Street Racer Collection does a jood job when it comes to emulating four kart racing games with combat elements, and the amount of customization options and cheats included help make the experience smoother. On the other hand, it is clear that some of the games here have aged considerably and are way past their prime, making them appealing only to the most nostalgic gamers who wish to relieve their experiences. The races are indeed fun, as long as they don't last too long, and there's no reason why the Game Boy version of Street Racer is included but the PlayStation/Sega Saturn version is not.- Starbit

Fighting Force Collection has the merit of bringing two games of the late 1990s in a way that’s as close to the original experience as possible. Unfortunately, there is little else going for it. If the first game can still provide some shallow but fun beat’em up action, the second game falls flat due to terrible camera and controls, featureless characters, and a failure at attempting to deliver a stealth action experience. Nostalgia has its value, but the Fighting Force games should rather have been remade instead of ported to this generation.- Starbit

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition shows that the slick gameplay and exquisite art style of Rayman are still as fun and enjoyable today as they were three decades ago. Nevertheless, this edition acts more as a modern port than as a definitive anniversary collection at some points, namely due to the lack of accessibility options for new players, and features an arranged version of the game's soundtrack with no option to listen to the original. REANIMAL is a puzzle-platformer that does a very solid job at creating a horror themed experience with strong emphasis on subtle psychological fears. The Perfect Pencil is a metroidvania wrapped in a rather unusual outfit. If the game's mechanics are fairly standard insofar as we will do what most games of the kind expect from us, the plot and theme set it apart. Pokémon Legends: Z-A on the Nintendo Switch brings new and welcome ideas to a familiar formula which can feel fresh and captivating, while at the same time denounces hardware limitations that are impossible to escape on a system that's almost nine years old. The combat is more dynamic and engaging, the cast of characters is very appealing, there's plenty to do on exploration and side quests, and the soundtrack is magnificent. However, the game's world is rather small (though full of content), and its visual direction needs updating. Legends Z-A features good ideas but it craves a new space to live up to their promises.- Starbit

It keeps all the good elements of the original, a friendly and accessible JRPG that stands out for its relaxed atmosphere and pace, and adds additional content that does not change the experience in a significant way, but it's still welcome nonetheless. Veterans of the Atelier series might not find this DX edition groundbreaking, but newcomers will see it as a great entry door into the series. In any case, it's the best way to enjoy this Atelier chapter.- Starbit

Pokémon Legends Z-A brings some very welcome news, such as a dynamic combat system, a very good integration of the Mega Evolution mechanics, and an incredible variety of content to find in a relatively small landscape. The cast of characters is fantastic, one of the very best ever in a Pokémon game, and the soundtrack is a gift to our ears. The game's performance on the Switch 2 is up to a very high standard, too. The exploration can feel repetitive on the medium term, though, and the game's graphics are in need of an update, while the day cycle transition animation can cause problems, but Legends Z-A most certainly lives up to its high expectations.- Starbit

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake that successfully fulfils its double purpose: to deliver an updated experience to players who enjoyed the original, and to welcome new players. Its enveloping plot, with a myriad of captivating characters and events, the fun and engaging combat system, the possibilities of exploring the game's world and, very importantly, a brilliant technical performance, make this version of Yakuza Kiwami on the Nintendo Switch 2 the ultimate edition of the game, even if a few elements can feel dated at some moments.- Starbit

With its absolute chaos from one end to the other, Overcooked! 2 improves on the variety of the experience and delivers a local multiplayer that fits the gameplay's ambitions perfectly. Becastled is a simple take on three popular genres, and it does several things right. It’s accessible to newcomers, it does not overcomplicate things, and even when we lose it lets us get back on our feet quickly. It’s less compelling than expected, however, and it can quickly become repetitive, which is where its simple audiovisual component can become a liability.- Starbit

Its controls, though, can be stiff and slow at times, which makes some segments more frustrating than they should. There's also a lack of variety in the mechanics, and its puzzles could be more creative. Dollmare works better as a short, subtle atmospheric horror experience that can be finished in one go, rather than as an ambitious adventure.- Starbit

Tales of Xillia Remastered does a very good job at bringing the original game to our day and age, ticking all the right boxes as we rediscover a marvelous JRPG that despite relying on many common clichés, can bring in many hours of fun. This edition includes all the game's DLC, which adds a very welcome touch to the experience, and keeps all the best elements of its dynamic combat system. Tales of Xillia Remastered is a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue, showing how neatly it adapts to a handheld experience, and it's perfectly geared for both veterans and newcomers alike.- Starbit

Everything that made the series great is here, along with a few touches that improve the experience and a batch of welcome extras that will charm long time fans. Some things don't change, though, and the difficulty remains stubbornly frustrating at some points, and a few short input lags can make some moments feel frustrating, while the online component needs improvement. Nonetheless, it is the best anthology that the early arcade and domestic MK games could ask, and it will delight veterans and some newer, curious fans alike.- Starbit

Once Upon a Katamari does a marvelous job at delievering a modern Katamari experience, improving where it needed while keeping the beloved series' soul intact. The new levels are a wonder to explore, while the bulk of the gameplay remains fun and delightful at all times, and with the addition of new power-ups it feels even more rewarding. Everything is nicely wrapped up by the game's audiovisual component, that delivers us yet another gorgeous Katamari package of absurd chaos and fun.- Starbit

It goes out of its way to make it the absolute and definitive version of Yakuza 0, building on every element of the game and making it more enjoyable, more ambitious, and an overall better game to play, without forgetting its many side quests and hustles. It also shows what the Nintendo Switch 2 can do, and delivers an experience that performs at a very high level without ever compromising its quality. Yakuza 0: Director's Cut on the Switch 2 is one of the greatest games of narrative action ever made, and a textbook case of a bridge between the past and the present.- Starbit

Its audiovisual environment is perfectly tied to the narrative structure, where the story is told through pictures and background sound effects, and where subtle fears strike horror with no need of jumpscares. The experience would be even more enjoyable if it lasted longer, and the cooperative dimension needs improvement when playing solo while the need for a second Switch 2 for local play is an obstacle, but Little Nightmares III most certainly knows how to create an experience in horror gameplay.- Starbit

Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is a wholesome puzzle adventure, where Snoopy and the gang set to solve everyday mysteries that are affecting the main characters of the Peanuts universe. Friendly and very accessible, the game fits well with a younger audience, but it could certainly use more elements that stimulate the sense of discovery, leaving the impression of good ideas that deserved more investment. Still, as a no frills and friendly experience, it does a good job, though it could let its players return to the same file after wrapping up the last mystery.- Starbit

Yooka-Replaylee may have come as a surprise but it's a very welcome surprise nonetheless, as this remaster of the original not only expectedly improves on several audiovisual elements, completely redesigning some of them, but also makes the experience more fluid and dynamic by starting the adventure with the entire moveset unlocked, with each level fully expanded, and fast travel. Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island + Emerald Rush is a DLC that does a very good job at delivering a challenging experience and at rekindling the players' relationship with the original game thanks to its new, stimulating roguelike mode and to the nostalgia-inducing settings of old DK Island. Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion is undoubtedly aimed at fans of mecha-based games. Its frantic combat featuring giant metal machines and especially, the boss fights, will keep players on their toes. However, Titatnic Scion could have done better at addressing its performance flaws, which sometimes prevent the game from standing out in the Switch 2 hardware when there's a lot happening on the screen at once, and beyond the combats, its plot and secondary missions are rather repetitive and end up pushing this game into a more niche territory.- Starbit

The concept is interesting, and basing the game on wheelchair basketball is very welcome, as adapted sports are still underrepresented in gaming. As a tech demo, it works reasonably well, but the experience quickly starts to wear out on the player's wrists, and some of the control mechanics demand a level of precision that soon becomes frustrating. The game's visual environment feels uninspired too, which is unusual from a Nintendo production. Given its relatively low sales price, Drag x Drive should be seen as a quick experience, but it could have done something more interesting than what's on display in this work.- Starbit

The main funcionalities of the Nintendo Switch 2 are presented under the form of minigames and challenges, and thanks to their clean presentation, simple instructions and hands-on experience, Welcome Tour ticks all the right boxes when it comes to familiarizing the players with Nintendo's new system. As such, Welcome Tour would work much better as a free experience included in every console. Slaughtering hordes of enemies is a fun experience, and the performance is worthy of praise as the game runs smoothly with no major hiccups.
