Rewind the cassette and fall head over heels into a love letter to the trailblazing days of early ‘80s & ‘90s British videogames.

Adventure calls - grab your hat, light your staff, and leap into a world of shifting landscapes and interconnected rooms, each a meticulously designed puzzle box with dangers to doge, precision platforming and secrets to uncover.

Echoing the games from the 8bit era, you’ll have to explore and experiment to crack the challenges within.

Lumo 2, just like its predecessor, does a great job of reintroducing players to a whole bunch of retro delights from the 1980s, and in small enough servings that they don't outstay their welcome. There's an impressive array of tricky isometric levels to get stuck into besting here, plenty of collectibles and achievements to tick off, some nice side-scrolling surprises along the way, and a general retro-british vibe that you can't help but love infusing the entire thing. Whilst it may not meaningfully evolve its predecessor, Lumo 2 is yet more of the good stuff.

This puzzle-platformer, which goes from isometric to side-scroller, to 2D shooter to 3D navigation, is loaded with references to 1980s classics and collectible objects. The game keeps track of the objects we collect, not of the references we catch, and that’s a good challenge for when we are not feeling frustrated by the rather clunky platformer controls.

Lumo 2 is the unexpected sequel of a game whose main purpose is to pay homage to old-school puzzle titles. However, do not expect a friendly learning curve or a difficulty that holds your hand.

In a plentiful sea of indie titles inspired by classic gaming, one could argue Lumo 2 offers nothing new. But they’d be wrong. While this experience has its flaws, it not only looks like a retro game but feels like one too.
