Hades II reminded me that roguelites, when well designed, are not exercises in frustration but perfect machines for telling stories. Every defeat sent me back to the Crossroads not with anger, but with curiosity. It’s rare to find a game that balances immediacy and depth, frenzy and reflection, so well. After dozens of hours, I don’t feel “tired” of the game — I feel even more engaged: I want to see every branch of the story, try every weapon, and find the combination of boons that will make me feel unstoppable. The true strenght of DICE's new title is its multiplayer component: massive battles, vehicles, destruction and an exceptional overall polish of Frostbite 2 offer an incredible piece of entertainment and raise the bar for online competition. Coop mode is also enjoyable, although it won't last long: good to have an afternoon's worth of fun with a friend, it makes you wonder why the whole campaign hasn't been made available for this kind of cooperation. Monster Hunter Wilds is a vast and majestic game, much like the monsters that inhabit it. The new approach to exploration and the complexity of the various biomes evolve the classic formula of the series, enriching it immensely. Combat takes significant strides forward thanks to the wound system, the Seikret, and the revamped weapons—further enhanced by monsters with more complex behaviors and a greater overall environmental interaction. Some hunts will stay with you forever. The story is also a pleasant surprise—we didn’t expect it to be told so well, aided by a cast of well-developed characters. If we had to point out a flaw, we would have liked more from the endgame phases and the roster of monsters, but we are well aware that with future updates and the almost certain introduction of Master Rank, these issues will likely be addressed. Capcom completes yet another hunt—and does so in truly grand style.

Resident Evil 5 carries on the same action path started with its predecessor. The main innovation is of course co-op mode, which delivers good fun if played online, but due to glitches in the friendly A.I., spoils the single player experience. Die hard fans will be happy to know that the story goes deep, and it's well connected with the last chapters of the series. Graphics and sound are simply stunning. If you miss the old survival horror genre you will surely be disappointed, but Resident Evil 5 is still a great action game, especially if enjoyed all the way through with a friend.

Forza Motorsport 3 is a great sequel, and it deserves the title of best driving simulation of this generation.Despite a couple of unexpected flaws, like a slightly unbalanced difficulty system and some small graphics issues, this is a title to have if you love racing games.

Electronic Arts believed that 2010 could have been the right year for the definiteve soccer simulation. It's almost true, although FIFA 10 still has some little flaws, as seen with the goalkeepers. On the other hand 360° dribbling, Live Season 2.0, new physics and a lot of other stuff should be enough to point out who's going to be the champion for this year, and that the developers have done a remarkable job on their baby.

The Beatles Rock Band is a real tribute to the band from Liverpool. Every detail in the game, from the arrangement of keys to the movies show a cure and a love that has no equal. Not to mention that we will hear one of the best soundtracks of all time. Harmonix does a Rock Band 2 formula's synthesis to provide an experience suitable for everyone, without distorting the brand. In few words: a game you must buy.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 is yet another demonstration of a Capcom back with arrogance in a state of grace. After the previous works that left no doubts about the quality of the management and the power of the new direction undertaken, the delicate operation - due to the importance of the game in question - succeeds perfectly and gives new light to a timeless masterpiece, which boasts numerous improvements and eliminates those out of place elements that have lost their polish over time. It is an improved remake, very careful and without major flaws, which gives one of Capcom's most important games its best dress.

The Island of Armos DLC for Pokémon Sword & Shield is targeted more towards the hardcore players of the series, granting some new, challenging battles for those who are looking for them. Players who are instead looking for story-driven content will instead have to wait for the second DLC, hoping it will deliver something more in that regard.

This will make Nintendo Switch Sports a constantly evolving title that can even double its content over the course of a year or two. The only hope is that Nintendo does not put too much hands on the price of future DLCs and that maybe it can include them in the Online package as already done with other additional content, such as that of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Fortnite is a well-crafted mix, a game that takes all from Minecraft and Left 4 Dead to create something new. Unfortunately, this action builder from Epic Games could show everything in the few first hours. Also, it's very unbalanced in chasing the money from the "free" users.

Considering the variety and versatility promised by the development team in terms of configuration to properly enjoy Rise of the Ronin, one has the feeling that the same mixed result has been achieved as the console version. All things considered, some post-launch patches will be necessary to enjoy an even more solid experience: the publisher has already confirmed to us that several updates are on the way, but at the moment know that the launch version needs more than a few technical refinements.

Starfield aims to be Bethesda Game Studios' magnum opus: it's compelling, entertaining and familiar: it feels like spending time with a longtime friend. This also means that it is inherently old in its structure and in how its universe reacts to the player. It's a shame that it comes with some unforgivable sins, like how dull the planet explorations is, but you will spend tons of hours in the game nonetheless. [Review in Progress]

God of War: Ragnarok on PC is yet another confirmation that expertly crafted ports are still possible, despite everything. Stunning graphics (though you’ll need a good PC to handle all that visual splendor), gameplay as sharp as Kratos’ blades, and a gripping narrative that won’t let you go. Sure, there was the risk of relying on past success and resting on its laurels. It doesn’t revolutionize, nor does it need to: it perfects what already worked on the PlayStation platform, with a confidence that few titles manage to maintain. And that’s perfectly fine.
