A worthy pack of extra fun. The island of Gallows End is a distinct location with it's own feel. The story of the undead pirate Dead Kel is surprisingly good and lengthy. [May 2012]

Football Manager 2014 feels more like a lifestyle than a game. I just doubt thee need of yearly iterations in the era of DLCs. [Feb 2014]

Killzone Mercenary is a competent FPS. Nothing more and certainly nothing less. Multiplayer modes are a bit anemic, though, and for only eight players. What's the problem here? [Oct 2013]

With a bit more length and better combat, SteamWorld Dig could've been fighting with the big boys of indie platforming for the top spot. Still, it's a fun, addictive and original platformer, and I really wish it gets a sequel. [Feb 2014]

This year's update focuses mainly on the single-player experience and the franchise mode. Additions like player roles and cut days are good, but the lack of a co-op online franchise is still disappointing. Otherwise, it's a solid if slightly unexciting offering. [Oct 2011]

Fresh and interesting. More levels, more game modes and a deeper story would have brought the game further. [June 2006]

Like the United States Army, I came back from the jungles of Vietnam with a bloody nose. Cleraly Vietnam is for those Men at War pros who look for challenge. That's fine by me, but I did not like stealth missions which the engine does not handle so well. Also vegetation hides units, enemy and own, irritatingly well. [Oct 2011]

It's somewhat short and the boss battles are truly awful, but otherwise Sonic Generations is a solid platformer. Revisiting old levels is nostalgic and having two Sonics to control is a nice touch. [Dec 2011]

By moving the entertaining zombie survival antics from a hicktown to the big city city, State of Decay practically evolves into a new game. No improvement on technical aspects, though - textures are ugly and those zombies "hordes" are a joke. The lack of co-op doesn't help. [Aug 2014]

One of the best turn-based strategy games on the market. The single player mode is not so glorious, but with friends the game is a real blast. [Sept. 05]

What game has style? The obvious answer is Aviary Attorney. The art in the game is based on the works of J. J. Grandville and looks stunning. The actual gameplay closely resembles that of the Ace Attorney series, so most of the time you will be solving light puzzles and reading funny conversations. And watching animals act like humans. Aviary Attorney is a very enjoyable game, but I would have hoped for some more content. It just ends too quickly and doesn't offer much of a challenge at all. [Apr 2016]

A solid DLC that manages to inject new fun into the daily grind of Destiny. It’s noteworthy that the new strike mission feels like a lost level of Halo. [June 2015]

An innovative platform-puzzle-racer with a built-in track editor. Sluggish car handling and constant dying are big minuses, but do not destroy an otherwise excellent game. [Feb 2006]

The switch to an overhead point-of-view and tactical action was the right one. It is good fun and looks great, too. The difficulty can get on your nerves, though. [Jan 2007]

The newest addition to the Gears of War franchise is for the first time a true evolutionary step for the game series. There's finally some dynamic to the warfare and although the story is the same kill-em-all-macho-badass thrillride, it's certainly an improvement to the weeping Marcus Fenix we saw in the third Gears of War.

Hitman Absolution sure isn't the classic free-range Hitman, but in its limited way is a pretty entertaining, very pretty sneak'n'shoot. The worst problems are the plot and non-working disguises. [Dec 2012]

A very relaxing music game where you pilot a futuristic vehicle and race different tracks. You can add your own music into the game and the songs will be transformed into new racing tracks, so you will always have plenty of different types of tracks. The game mechanics and graphics are pretty simple, which is a bit disappointing. [May 2008]

A game like no other and a surprise release to see outside of Japan. It is a mixture of a 2D shoot 'em up and a fighting game with mechas. The fighting system is complex, but once the initial confusion wears off real depth is found. Two player games are great fun. [Oct 2007]
