I believe Military Madness: Nectaris is an excellent example of a niche genre game that will really appeal to diehard fans of turn-based hex-board strategy fans. The rest of us will probably find the basics of the game, its repetitiveness and substandard graphics and audio to be too big of a turn off to give it any real consideration.- GameFocus

This is what I like about the gaming industry: there’s always a surprise waiting for you around the corner. Although the offering has obvious technical limitations and does come with a solid learning curve, Beaterator is very interesting and packs enough punch to please and intrigue any kind of gamer. Dead Space is by far one of the best Survival Horror franchises on the market. It brought many new and familiar interesting features to the table on the big consoles but many people were wondering if the Wii could handle this game. Well Electronic Arts and Visceral Games have knocked this ball out of the park and we have possibly one of the best games on the Wii.- GameFocus

Most adult gamers will find MySims Agents to be a walk in the park and will probably get bored of the same routine rather quickly. As such, this game is not geared for adults but for younger gamers looking for a bit of adventure and something that doesn’t contain any violence. This is definitely the best game in the franchise and one that anyone under the age of 13 will enjoy.- GameFocus

For those who have been yearning for more quality arcade-style racing games for their PlayStation Portable, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is the answer you have been waiting for. With non-stop action and fantastic visuals coupled with a deep single-player mode and proper online multiplayer, there is everything you will need for a very long time. Don’t be afraid, pick this one up and start heating up the ice.- GameFocus

The Ninja Gaiden games aren’t for everyone. People will hate it; some will love it to death. The adventure may be linear and the hack n’ slash ridiculously repetitive but it’s so much fun. Despite the fact that this revamped version of last year’s Ninja Gaiden 2 game does things differently, it manages to keep the essence of the game intact. Taking into account that you might have never played a Ninja Gaiden game, there’s no reason why you should pass on this one.- GameFocus

If you must play everything that contains Zombies, this might hold your interest for a bit, but the interesting concept quickly loses its appeal. There are way too many short-comings to make this a worth-while purchase; a bit more development time would have done wonders to the final product. If you see this Zombie Army, I suggest you move in the other direction.- GameFocus

Unlike other Kingdom Hearts, this version lends itself well to being able to pick it up and put it down making it a game you can play for quite a long time and still enjoy when you do play it. There is though, enough meat in this game to satisfy the person who wants to play this game very seriously and tear though the content.- GameFocus

It feels like whatever budget this game had was blown on the audio and visuals in the game, leaving the story and design team scrambling with what little finances they had leftover to make a worthwhile game out of it. Unfortunately for them, the game comes up feeling pretty shallow. While I give it props for having an expensive looking sheen, it’s definitely not a noteworthy DS game in any other respect. Do yourself a favor and leave this one to gather dust on the shelves.- GameFocus

This action shooter is done well but lacks any long term gameplay value so I have trouble recommending this game as a buy at its current price. Aion is very close to being a perfect example of the current idea of how a fantasy based MMO should be implemented. I would even suggest Aion might be the climax of the typical design elements of the genre. There was room for 1 more player in fantasy based MMO’s (as long as they were a major player) and Aion has taken up that spot, and definitely pushed some competitors out of the picture by doing so.- GameFocus

There’s no doubt in my mind that Halo 3: ODST is a good action game. Unfortunately, for many gamers, the price tag will be an issue and will play a huge role into the decision of buying, rent it or get it later when its price drops. Add to the fact that Firefight isn’t supported by a matchmaking system, the offering of a standalone disc that contains the multiplayer mode of a game that millions of folks already own (minus three maps) and that re-uses most of what we’ve seen in Halo 3, Microsoft and Bungie have put a small cloud on their cherished franchise that I hope it will never show up again.- GameFocus

I had so many mixed emotions playing through SMT: Persona. At times, the story kept me wanting more but the tedious combat, annoying first person perspective and high amount of random battles made me literally drop my PSP in disgust. I will be the first to say that an RTS game on a console is not the best platform for this genre. But the Command and Conquer series has been one of the best for the console thus far. NHL 2K10 has the style, but unfortunately, the substance just isn’t as compelling on the Xbox 360/PS3. While the Wii has a shiny new control scheme and a drastic upgrade in content, the HD console versions are merely last year’s game with a new coat of paint. Year after year, the NCAA Football franchise has been improving to a point where it can no longer be seen as “Madden’s Little Brother” or a simple NFL Football appetizer game. NCAA Football 09 was certainly one of the most interesting titles in the franchise but NCAA Football 10 has now surpassed it. It still has a few minor annoyances but overall, this year’s game is worth checking out.- GameFocus

What BF:1943 lacks in depth compared to earlier Battlefield games, it makes up for in a simplistic and challenging multiplayer game. Twenty-four person matches feel fantastic and except for the odd laggy match, it’s a seamless and fun experience. If you can get together a squad, there isn’t a more fun FPS online experience for your money.- GameFocus

While the Punisher will probably always remain one of my favourite comic book anti-heroes I’m afraid that the next time I read one of his comics I may end up hearing that terrible voice in my head. The true punishment here is playing The Punisher: No Mercy.- GameFocus

We have come a long way with side scrollers since the days of Super Mario Brothers and Contra. Trine is a visual treat; the puzzles are a challenge and the characters all have fun elements to their play. While it might be a little overpriced on PC, if you own a Playstation 3 it would be a great addition to your downloadable games collection!- GameFocus

While the game was delayed for a few months after the movie was delayed it appears the developers did little to improve on the game and if they did it was not in good shape before the delay. A few issues bring down what could have been a great title and makes this a rent nothing more.- GameFocus

I can say that I was happy to see a noticeable improvement over Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Still, the lack of variety and depth in terms of the activities offered by the game and the speed in which you could run through it (around 5 hours) makes Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for the Wii a worth checking-out but not necessarily a must-own game.- GameFocus

Roogoo: Twisted Towers will surprise most people as it is not strictly a puzzle-only game. The story will be entertaining for younger gamers while the puzzle action will satisfy everyone. It is disappointing that the multiplayer options were not more enjoyable, but for those looking for something to distract them on the Wii, even for a short play, this should do the job.- GameFocus

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood has one of the best Western FPS games period with one of the grittiest story lines this side of a Clint Eastwood movie. With its solid graphics and audio mixed with the outstanding gameplay this is one of the best action games for the hot summer nights.- GameFocus

Fight Night Round 4 can easily be described as “the most accessible and yet challenging boxing game ever created”. The fighting mechanics have been revamped and refined to please hardcore boxing gamers but EA Canada has also found a great way to make the game incredibly less frustrating to newcomers as well. Yes, the online matchmaking world remains a daunting place to be however what the game has to offer besides that makes up for it.- GameFocus
