  1. With so much history behind the Wolfenstein series, it can be quite difficult to live up to the legacy of the games that came before you. The latest entry in the series does a fantastic job of this, from its gorgeous graphics to its solid story line; everything is well thought out and well executed. With the potential for additional multiplayer maps thrown in, this is a great value overall.

Again, it's nothing new but the weapons and powers are interesting enough that, if you put in the work, the reward is there. But it probably won't make you forget about Modern Warfare or Halo 3 or Killzone 2 or whatever online FPS you're currently hooked on.

High def graphics aside this could almost be five or even ten years old in terms of game design but it matters not a jot because its also genuinely fun to play.
  4. Speaking of strategy, Wolfenstein is in dire need of a new one. Grinding through waves of predictable enemies in corridors is no way to pay homage to the franchise’s unquestioned legacy in the genre.
  5. Wolfenstein has two sides. Sometimes, there are an awful lot of Nazi’s and there’s bullets flying right past you all the time, immersing you in the game. Other times, you just wish you could blast a bullet through main character B.J. Blazkowicz’s own head after walking through another boring alley in Isenstadt. Nevertheless, the biggest part of Wolfenstein was played with a big grin on our face. It’s a decent addition to a classic franchise.
  6. The story isn't really presented well at times, but thanks to numerous Wolfenstein staple elements, the game works.

Massively ordinary shooter with a bizarre plot and rubbish AI. [Oct 2009, p.78]

Full of cool enemies and creatures, awesome weapons, weapon upgrading and mission following. The multiplayer is just ok. Its somehow always laggy online and they are only a very few players online so you may not want to spend your time on multiplayer. So you should stick to thw awesome single-player. Overall a great game. Expand

You get to power up your weapons and your powers along the lines of Bioshock. The game looks beautiful with its colors, scenery, and the attention to details. Where Wolfenstein fails is the online gaming. You start off very weak compared to others that have been playing for a while. Also it relies on the old hosting system. Also, it can take a long time to get into a game. The game play feels like an old Quake game with better graphics. I wish they would have dumped the online portion and spent more time on the first person game and made it longer. The first person game is great the online is OK. Expand

The campaign is long enough for the genre (10 hours for me) if you do adjust the difficulty (for me I needed Uber difficulty to experience some challenge) and offers nice moments and epic bosses. Unfortunately the story is not up to the gameplay, and the characters have no charisma at all. It's a shame because the game is very fun, but fail to hook you up and making you wanting to play more and more.
Technically the game was just okay when it was released, so if you have 2015 standards you'll be very disappointed, but it's still decent for a 2009 game, no framerate issues. The game runs just fine.
So in conclusion Wolfenstein is very good to entertain you for a few days (and there is some replay value if you want to collect everything) but will not leave you a lifetime memory, I do recommend it if you like FPS as it's really cheap now.

Decent fun, but almost identical to Call of Duty (control wise and play style). Not necessarily a bad thing, but it lost some of the charm Decent fun, but almost identical to Call of Duty (control wise and play style). Not necessarily a bad thing, but it lost some of the charm and uniqueness of the series. Also the single player is a lot lighter and more like an Indiana Jones movie, whereas the last entry (Return to Castle Wolfenstein, 2002) was very dark and had you on edge. The objective based online is a lot of fun though and the class system gives players something to work towards. My only other gripe would be a lack of split screen play. Expand

I really really WANTED to like this game! Deep down though regardless of overall good reviews I had a feelingthat it would suck which is why II really really WANTED to like this game! Deep down though regardless of overall good reviews I had a feelingthat it would suck which is why I checked the redbox online all day until one was in my area. So glad I went that route! This game would be great as a dl arcade game but as a full price game hell no! It's just kill a bunch of people, cut scene, kill more people. The mechanics themselves aren't bad but there is very little variety in terms of weaponry and paths to take. Also the graphics are almost as bad as any Nazi war crime ever committed! Absolutely unacceptably bad! I guess this game will survive if you are into mediocre mindless killing but these days most gamers are which is why the game industry puts out such trash anymore because the average consumer eats it up! All in all, pretty bad but not ENTIRELY horrible! If you have an average attention span and I.Q. expect to be entertained for about 2 hours tops! Expand
