If only the developers had fixed that camera. If only they had thought harder about the puzzles. But they didn't and that leaves Genji as a disappointing experience overall.

Unfortunately, what has really painted my decision is the lack of 'next-gen' feel on this game, both graphically and in the gameplay.

Inconsistent both in its game world and its gameplay, Rogue Galaxy is a title with much potential that doesn't quite realise it fully.

When you think of retro gaming, this is a title that comes to mind for a lot of people - and apparently with good reason.

No one can deny that the game has got style - it oozes it from the menu screen and onto the football pitch in typical EA fashion - however, it lacks the depth and substance to make it appeal for more than a couple of hours, after which you may start to question the wisdom of your investment.

It's simple - the good parts are really very good, and worthy of a decent score. In fact, they are probably worth more. Unfortunately, though, the broken bits really are broken - both in terms of this game and the series as a whole.

It represents the cartoon remarkably well and with excellent authenticity. However, behind all the gloss and polish lurks the shadow of a game that shows little novelty in today's already swamped third person action adventure market.

If old school blasting is your bag then you'll find more than enough here to keep you entertained.

It gets a reasonable score because it's a reasonable game - but ask yourself, are you really willing to settle for just plain reasonable when there are so many awesome games out there?

For this reason, I whole-heartedly recommend it to fans of the James Bond franchise. However, those looking for a high-quality game should exercise caution.

If you look past the fact that Jewel Master: Cradle of Rome isn't as polished as it should be then you've got a reasonably fun puzzle game that's good for short spurts of play, perfect for train rides on red steam engines or big red bus journeys to Redditch.

Whilst it plays fine and does everything you'd expect from a good racing title, it could have done a whole lot more.

It's a decent game that misses out on greatness due to a lack of thought in level design and a lack of variety in looks.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is certainly prince-like in terms of its presentation but pretty half-arsed when to comes to the gameplay experience.

Rag Doll Kung Fu is fun. It's a laugh. And isn't that what gaming is all about? Sure, it is a bit of a five-minute wonder, but there are worse ways to spend your gaming time.

It's most definitely a niche game though, so the casual player will probably only play it a few times before the monotony of doing the same thing over and over sinks in.

A harmless piece of entertainment that might amuse those who are fans of the film and too young to really steep themselves in something complicated, but it's too obtuse and repetitive for older players.

Robotron 2084 is true to the original and many regard that as one of the best games ever made - but with most other retro games offering some sort of overhauled main mode and the classic alongside it, recommending this is hard for players who simply want more then a port.

Words can't really describe how unbearable 2000's graphics are. They are blocky, unpolished and the colours used for the characters are pretty appalling.

Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics isn't a bad game, it's just not a particularly good one either.

MX Vs. ATV Unleashed does nothing drastically wrong, it just fails to do anything drastically right. It is a moderately entertaining racer, sure, but is too lightweight to inspire any long-term appeal.

The absence of a storyline to get you invested with the characters, the lacklustre gameplay and the limited controls pull the gameplay down so much that it's impossible to reproduce the quality of its kindred on other platforms.

Soulstorm doesn't offer an awful lot of new content, aside for the new maps for skirmishes and multiplayer. The multiplayer is still the highlight of this series and tactically decimating your opponent or friends is a source of endless enjoyment, but the single player in this expansion fails to inspire; there needed to be more involvement with the running of your territories (see the Total War series) for a map-based campaign to work and be really engaging.

Whilst G.I. Joe will never make it as a General it will be remembered for its charm and explosions!

It's no Resident Evil, and if you're new to the genre then really that's the place to start, but ObsCure II does provide a few scares and there are far worse ways to spend a few hours on a dark, lonely night.

A game that will only really appeal to fans of survival horror.

As much I hate to say it, Star Wars: Empire At War isn't worth the entry fee. This is a terrible shame, since it had such promise from the pre-launch screenshots, but sadly the repetitive and shallow gameplay, combined with the below par presentation and ludicrously high difficulty level, simply can't compete with the best of the genre.

If you gave "Dynasty Warriors 4" to the average gamer and told him that it was Dynasty Warriors 5, I'm sure they wouldn't notice.

Where Eternal Forces does a great job is in the loads of biographies for what would normally be throwaway units. Granted, some of the bio information is strangely comical, but you end up caring about each character under your command. The overall package is no better than the original and in that regard it is actually more disappointing, since we already know how well the PSP can deliver on graphics and controls in this setting, and there are better role-playing games available for the PSP that you'd be wiser to spend your money on than this.

This is the worst Final Fantasy game, and that is a very hard thing to say for a diehard FF fan such as myself.

High quality presentation isn't enough to save Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals from its own shortcomings though and ultimately it isn't going to turn many heads.

If you have, or intend to, invest a massive amount of time in learning all the delicate intricacies of the IL2 series, then by all means give this latest addition a stab. However, if you simply wish to play an engrossing and hair raising thrill ride in the skies, you'd be much better off queuing up on the aircraft carriers in Battlefield 1943 for your chance to fly a plane for 30 seconds.

It's like a coin with a good and bad side - sometimes you flip it on the good side and get the really well told story and interesting situations you find yourself in, but then you flip it on the bad side and get some awkward gameplay that really should have been better at this stage of videogame technology.

While the atmosphere and character of the island and its locales are faithfully represented, sadly, the characters lack the same recognisable identity.

For those who crave realism, I suggest waiting for the much-hyped "Rome: Total War," a game that if only half as good as promised will redefine the RTS scene.

As a Wii game it's way beyond every other FPS on the system (other than Metroid ) in terms of controls and graphical fidelity, but when compared to the full breadth of the FPS genre, Conduit is more akin to TimeShift and Haze.

Sadly though, for now Virtua Tennis 2009 is only probably worth a look if you've missed the last couple of iterations; otherwise it might be best to hope that VT 2010 is a little more enticing and give EA's new Grand Slam Tennis a look instead.

Although not quite stuck in the shallow depths of mediocrity, Infinite Undiscovery barely surpasses the mark of decent.

Unfortunately, the whole experience just feels a bit pointless.

Between the boring combat and characters that never quite connect, it is difficult to keep playing after a while, without setting the game aside for something more interesting.

A game that'll only really appeal to established American Conquest fans and strategy gamers looking for a more complex game with which to test their abilities. Casual gamers will find little entertainment here, unless they persevere and attempt to breach the virtually vertical learning curve.

The Fast and the Furious will probably come off as unimpressive and forgettable - but if you've played Carbon as much as possible and you're still in need of your street racing fix then this will do you nicely for awhile.

Major League Baseball 2K9 isn't a terrible game but it isn't a good one.

It's fun and bright, easy to pick up and play and has some moments of real humour in it. At the same time it's tacky and hackneyed, annoying to anyone not involved and lacks any real backbone of gameplay or narrative to support its weight.

FlatOut: Head On looks a bit like a nice slice of cake, but in reality it's more of a biscuit. It's not even a particularly pleasant biscuit, either; the first bite or two is nice enough, but after an hour or so you'll begin to taste the bitter unfairness of the AI, or the stale mini-games, or the… well, you get the idea.

The longevity is abysmal and the content is woefully limited, while the controls and overall gameplay are fine for a weekend rental.

Even though a lot of the features aren't put together properly and the sound and graphics are all outdated, it does manage to entertain you along the way - especially if you can play this through with someone else, particularly a child.

It may be worth a punt if you have recently bought a Wii, own four Wiimotes and are looking to show the unWiinitiated what the console is all about; however, if you're an avid Wii gamer then there are plenty of other games out there that will prove to be money better spent.

Due to its familiarity and the fact that there are not a vast number of additions to Elven Legacy over the original Fantasy Wars - the only really new things are the Elves and mission choices - I cannot really recommend Elven Legacy to players of Fantasy Wars.
